Subjects/Keywords: DIVADLO Divadelní umění je staré jako lidstvo samo. Za dobu své existence prošlo dlouhým a barvitým vývojem; z něhož jsme zmapovali zřejmě jen malou část. Požadavek činoherního divadla a přítomnost dalších klasických divadel ve městě vedlo k inspiraci divadlem řeckým; japonským; středověkým; alžbětinským; totálním; osvobozeným; arénovým. Moderní budova činohry národního divadla se nemůže spoléhat pouze na klasická schémata; i když i ta mohou být požadována. Návrh reflektuje divadlo především jako místo střetnutí dvou protichůdných světů; světa reálného; v němž žijeme; a světa zidealizovaného; přetvořeného; který vídáme na jevišti; světa skutečnosti a jejího obrazu; světa tragédie a komedie; světa skutečných tváří herců a jejich masek; jejich skutečných osobností a jejich rolí; světa skutečných věcí a kulis; světa prostorového a plošně zjednodušeného. Také dva základní protichůdné pohledy na divadelní umění jako na svět ideální; pompézní; výchovný; poučný a zábavný a na divadlo jako nemilosrdné zrcadlo našeho života; subjektivní; věrné či sarkastické; i rozpor těchto dvou chápání divadla můžeme zahrnout mezi divadelní dvojakosti. BUDOVA Nová budova divadla chce být zhmotněním dialogu; základního stavebního prvku divadelní tvorby; kterým Aischylos povýšil do té doby všeplatné zpěvné a taneční rituály na skutečné drama. Dialog spolu vedou dvě protichůdné formy – budova divadla a její prázdný otisk – veřejné prostranství. Klasifikace dialog a monolog se stává subjektivní; uvažujeme-li za druhý subjekt prázdno. Tato představa dodává úvaze existenciální náboj. Samotné dvě formy – plná a prázdná – mají kromě parafráze divadelní protichůdnosti; pověstného rozhraní dvou světů; přesah do mnoha dalších oblastí života – podobně jako samotné divadlo. Tvar budovy - zužující a zvyšující se hmota - vznikl spolu s prostranstvím spontánně jako asociace doplňkovosti. Tento tvar však reaguje kromě urbanistických a provozních návazností také na ideu moderního divadla; které by mělo být proměnlivé a dynamické. Vzletný tvar budovy zhmotňuje nejen tuto abstraktní dynamiku; ale je také intuitivním přepisem dynamiky hereckého projevu; přetlaku energie sršící z člověka; nepostradatelné nejen k hereckému výkonu; ale také ke všem lidským tvůrčím činnostem.; THEATRE Dramatic art is as old as human society. During its existence it has passed through long and colourful evolution which we charted probably only really partially. Requierement of a drama theatre and presence of another classical thetre buildings in the town caused an inspiration by Greek; Japonese; medieval; Elizabethan; Total; Exempt or arena theatre. A modern bulding of national drama theatre can´t depend of only calssical schemes; though even those could be reguired. The project reflect theatre first of all as a place of a battle of two contradictory worlds; a real world which we live in it; and an ideal; transformated world which we use to see on a stage; a world of reality and a world of its reflex; a world of tragedy and a of comedy; a world of existing faces of actors and a world of their masks; their real personalities and their parts; a world of true things and a world od scenes; a three-dimensional world and a 2D-simplified world. Also the two contradictory views of dramatic art; the first one as an ideal world; pompous; educational; instructive and funy and the second as a merciless mirror of our own lifes; subjective; authentic or caustic; so even this discrepancy of those two different opinions of theatre we could add in the theatre duplicity. BUILDING The new theatre building wants to be an objectification of a dialog; which is the basic structural element of dramatic production; whith which Aischylos sublimated singing and dancig rituals which were of binding force in that times to a real drama. This dialog is runned by two antagonistic forms – the theatre building and its empty impression – a public space. Established classification of dialog and monolog becomes subjective; if we suppose an emptiness as the second object. This idea gives our meditation an existencial character a bit. The two forms by themselves – the full one and the empty one –except of an imitation of theatre dialectics; a proverbial boundery-line of two worlds; also transcend into many other spheres of human life – analogous to a theatre. The shape of the building – a diminished and raising mass – has arised within the open space spontaneously as an association of complementing. But this shape – except other urbanistic and functional sequences - also reacts to an ide of modern theatre; which should be variable and dynamic. The poetic shape of the building not only materializes thist abstract dynamism but it is also an intuitive transscription of dynamism of an actor´s manifestation; an overpressure of human energy which is indispensable not only for a performance but also for all human creative activities.

The problem of induction motor is explained in the introduction of thesis; and their use in cooperation with frequency converters is indicated. In the next chapter analyses the electromagnetic model of initial design of machine; its geometric dimensions and the possibilities of its analysis. Then the analysis of this machine is performed by the analytical method; using the RMxprt computation program; followed by the finite element method which is solved in Ansys Maxwell program. The third chapter is devoted to detailed design of the machine construction; including the presentation of the material for individual part. The fourth part of the thesis deals with the design of a thermal network. The input values of this thermal network are predominantly geometric and electric losses in individual parts of the machine. Based on the created thermal network; the warming of the individual parts of the machine is calculated. Due to the results of this procedure; the control is made for checking that the maximum permitted winding temperature has not been exceeded. The penultimate part deals with the genetic algorithm; its design and practical applicability for optimization with the requirement for minimum machine dimensions. Since we don’t know the exact design of the mechanical parts of the pumps; the last part is devoted to a case study in which is made a comparison of the theoretically achievable dimensions of the machine in relation to the quality of heat losses.

Сматрамо да се основано може поставити питање: да ли је парламент још увек носилац законодавне власти, или парафразирајући Хобса: претпоставља се ко је законодавац, али да ли се и зна? Предмет ове дисертације су ограничења са којима се парламент данас суочава приликом вршења своје нормативне улоге. Та ограничења су унутрашње и спољашње природе, класична и нова. У модерном времену, у којем су ефикасност и брзина кључна очекивања, чини се да парламент као законодавац губи дах и суочава се са бројним ограничењима у извршавању своје – како се вековима сматрало – „основне функције”: законодавне надлежности. Теза да тежиште власти све више прелази на егзекутиву и у земљама са парламентарним системом државне власти није више новина. Парламент се, међутим, не суочава само са лимитима које пред њега стављају надлежности владе у законодавном поступку. Кључна улога политичких партија, релативизација класичног појма суверености и други, до сада недовољно истражени лимитирајући фактори законодавне улоге парламента доводе до модификације његове функције у савременој држави. Циљ дисертације је да кроз пажљиву селекцију неопходних стручних извора и ослањајући се на деценијско искуство у својству народног посланика у Народној скупштини Републике Србије прецизно утврдимо и рационално истражимо сазнања и изразимо научни став о улози савременог парламента у светлости ограничења његове законодавне функције. Пошли смо од хипотезе да је законодавна функција парламента сужена због устава као бедема, због активности владе као све значајнијег актера законодавства, политичких странака, односно нових учесника у законодавном поступку с једне стране, као и због релативизације суверености у условима међународних интеграција и утицаја глобалних економских токова с друге стране, што све доводи до модификације улоге савременог парламента.

Subjects/Keywords: The following question can be raised: Are parliaments still the true bearers of the legislative power; or paraphrasing Hobbes: it is assumed who the legislator is; but is it also known? The subject of this thesis are the limits that parliaments are facing today while exercising their normative roles. These limitations are both internal and external; and may be traditional or of new origin. Today efficiency and speed are key expectations; it seems that parliaments as legislators are losing their breath and are facing many limitations in their role that has for centuries been their ”basic one”: their legislative role. The fact that the focus of power is increasingly shifting towards the executive branch of power even in countries with parliamentary systems of governance is not a novelty anymore. Parliaments; however; do not only face the limits placed before them by the governments throughout the legislative process. The key role of political parties; the relativization of the classical concept of sovereignty; and other limiting factors of the legislative role of parliaments; which need further examination; may lead to the modification of their functions in modern states. The aim of the dissertation is to through thoroughly selected scientific sources and relying on a decade-long experience as Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia precisely determine and rationally examine and draft an academic position about the role of parliaments today with regard to the limitations in their legislative function. We started off from the hypothesis that the legislative function of parliaments is set by the constitution; and narrowed by the ever increasing role of the governments in the legislative process; by political parties and other participants in the legislative procedure; as well as by the relativization of national sovereignty in the framework of international integration and also by the impact of global economic flows.

Objetivo:Avaliar a longevidade de restaurações adesivas diretas em dentes decíduos submetidos à remoção parcial de tecido cariado (RPTC) e os possíveis fatores associados com o insucesso, tentando aproximar os resultados à vida clínica diária. Métodos: Estudo observacional analítico retrospectivo que incluiu 284 restaurações adesivas diretas em dentes decíduos posteriores e anteriores confeccionadas após RPTC em 88 crianças com alta experiência de cárie. Os dentes foram acompanhados clínica e radiograficamente através da informação registrada nos prontuários clínicos dos pacientes. Adicionalmente, foram investigados os fatores potencialmente associados com o insucesso do tratamento, tais como idade, gênero, tipo de dente, número de faces restauradas, material capeador e restaurador utilizado e índice de placa visível (IPV) e de sangramento gengival (ISG). O estimador Kaplan-Meiere o teste de Log-Rank foram utilizados para analisar a longevidade das restaurações e o modelo de regressão multivariado de Cox com fragilidade compartilhada, para avaliar os fatores que poderiam estar relacionados com a falha do tratamento (p<0,05). Resultados: A taxa de sucesso clínico e radiográfico da amostra foi de 76% e obteve-se uma taxa de falha anual (AFR) de 20% na análise até 36 meses. O IPV (p=0,014) e o tipo de dente, anterior ou posterior (p<0,001) mostraram influência significativa no insucesso das restaurações. Conclusão: restaurações adesivas realizadas após RPTC na dentição decíduae em um ambiente que simula a vida clínica diária demonstrambons resultados, principalmente em dentes posteriores. Porém, o acúmulo de biofilme sobre as superfícies dentárias afeta a longevidade das mesmas.

Objective: to assess the longevity of direct adhesive restorations undergoing partial caries removal (PCR) in primary teeth and associated factors for failure, approaching the results to a daily clinical life. Methods: Retrospective analytical observational study which included 284 posterior and anterior primary teeth direct adhesive restorations that had been treated with PCR of 88 children with high caries experience. The teeth had clinical and radiographic follow-up through the information registered in the clinical records of the patients.In addition, factors potentially associated with treatment failure were investigated, such as age, gender, type of tooth involved, number of surfaces restored, type of capping material and restorative material used, visible plaque (VPI) and gingival bleeding indexes (GBI). Kaplan-Meier estimate and Log-Rank test were used to analyze the longevity of restorations and multivariate Cox´s regression model with shared frailty to evaluate the factors that could be related to treatment failure (p<0.05). Results: A clinical and radiographic success rate of the sample was 76% and an annual failure rate was estimated in 20% over 36 months. The basic scheme composition is not implemented according to the Czech norms. The safety of the design is provided by calculations the reactions to the fault condition. Instruments are dimensioned in the calculation software which is testing regular and fault conditions and short-circuits conditions. Design is implemented with elements by the company EATON. The electrical scheme is divided to the power and control circuits. Circuit is tested to the different kind of the loads. Next step is design of the switchgear setup including supplements and accessories. From the whole project is processed technical documentation.

Предмет дисертације је Стални арбитражни суд, његове карактеристике и допринос његове јуриспруденције у међународном јавном праву, јер у међународном јавном поретку, у оквиру мирних начина решавања спорова, арбитража, као поступак који се води пред Сталним арбитражним судом, заузима значајно место. Основни циљеви који су постављени у току истраживања су вишеструки. Првенствени циљ је да се покаже, за међународну заједницу као целину, значај оснивања Сталног арбитражног суда, на Хашкој конференцији мира 1899. године, у смислу постојања могућности да се међународни спорови решавају арбитражом као поступком, да би се, у то време, избегли многобројни потенцијални међународни сукоби и ратови. Следећа група циљева се односила на приказивање процесног регулусања и осавремењивања начина вођења поступака пред Сталним арбитражним судом, и то: одредаба Конвенција о мирном решавању спорова из 1899. године и 1907. године, Арбитражних правила UNCITRAL-а из 1976. године и 2010. године, Арбитражних правила Сталног арбитражног суда која су усвојена 2012. године и одредаба Конвенције о праву мора из 1982. године којима је регулисан арбитражни поступак. Посебна група циљева се односила на проучавање донетих одлука и поступања арбитара у покренутим споровима у смислу примене међународних правних норми на конкретне спорне ситуације које су биле предмет спора. Обим предмета истраживања, захтева да се користи догматскоправни метод, правносоциолошки метод, као и сваки други правни метод чија примена ће довести до свеобухватнијег постизања обједињених циљева овог рада.

Subjects/Keywords: The subject of the dissertation is the Permanent Court of Arbitration; its characteristics and the contribution of its jurisprudence in international public law; because in an international public order; in the framework of peaceful ways of settling disputes; arbitration; as a procedure before the Permanent Court of Arbitration; takes a significant place. The basic goals set during the research are multiple. The primary goal is to show to the international community; as a whole; the importance of the establishment of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Hague Peace Conference in 1899; in view of the existence of the possibility that international disputes will be settled by arbitration as a procedure; in order to avoid; at that time; potential international conflicts and wars. The following group of objectives related to the presentation of procedural regulation and modernization of the procedure for conducting proceedings before the Permanent Court of Arbitration; namely: the provisions of the Conventions on the Peaceful Settlement of Disputes of 1899 and 1907; UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules from 1976 and 2010; The Arbitration Rules of the Permanent Court of Arbitration; adopted in 2012 and the provisions of the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea; which regulate the arbitration proceedings. A special set of objectives concerned the study of decisions made and the conduct of arbitrators in litigated disputes in terms of applying international legal norms to specific disputable situations that were the subject of the dispute. The scope of the subject of the research requires the use of a dogmatic method; a legal-sociological method; as well as any other legal method whose application will lead to a more comprehensive achievement of the unified objectives of this paper.

▼ The aim of this qualitative interpretive research was to explore the experiences of HIV counsellors and how these experiences influence the counsellors' psychological wellbeing. The complexities of the context within which HIV pre and post test counselling occurs form the day-to-day real ity of barely trained volunteer counsellors whose task it is to counsel, inform and educate people at grass roots concerning HIV. The guiding question of the current research pertained to the experience of HIV counselors regarding the influence of their work on their own well-being. A case study design was used. In depth interviews were conducted with nine Sotho speaking HIV counselors working in primary healthcare clinics in the Sedibeng region of Gauteng. Additional data was collected through observation. Data was initially coded, using axial coding; this was followed by thematic analysis. The focus was .on the psychological well-being of the volunteer HIV counsellors. The data indicated that the participants were not overwhelmed by the many stressors of their challenging occupations. They succeeded in developing their own ways of stress relief especially through practising their spiritual beliefs and other means like participating in community activities and meaningful relationships of significant other. They experienced personal growth and empowerment in general, but especially in the field of health and sexuality. The female participants were increasingly able to negotiate safer sex. Participants' lives were enriched through amongst others the regard they received from their communities, and being in a position to give information and advice that they gained from the training and exposure to information. The participants experienced feelings of self-worth in that they were able to contribute to their communities and thereby adding meaning to their own existence. It became clear that their character strengths such as wisdom, courage, humanity, justice and transcendence enabled them to function and grow in their difficult situation. The research highlighted that the inner strengths and virtues of the volunteer counsellors enable them to persist, in challenging work conditions and socio-economic circumstances. Difficulties facing volunteer HIV counsellors that became clear are the lack of support and recognition they have to contend with. It is therefore recommended that more attention should be given by the relevant stakeholders to strengthen the support and to make more resources available to them.

▼ Предмет истраживања дисертације је развој модела електронског пословања заснованог на флексибилном учешћу потрошача на српском тржишту електричне енергије. Циљ је развoj одрживoг и применљивoг моделa електронског пословања који омогућава учешће домаћинстава и појединачних уређаја на балансном тржишту и на берзи електричне енергије коришћењем smart grid технологија и demand-response сервиса. Учествовањем појединачних домаћинстава и уређаја у балансном тржишту омогућава се прецизна контрола фреквенције електроенергетског система, што oтвара могућности за експлоатацију обновљивих извора електричне енергије преко флексибилнијег и тачнијег управљања флуктуацијама. Tржиштa електричне енергије традиционално функционишу по B2B моделу електронског пословања где се пословање врши искључиво између произвођача и оператора тржишта. Дерегулација отвара нове могућности пословања за тржишта електричне енергије, претежно за домаћинства чијом се инклузијом у великој мери може повећати флексибилност и ефикасност механизма балансирања и целокупна стабилност електроенергетске мреже. Пословни модел предложен у овој дисертацији прилагођен је пословном окружењу и регулативи у Републици Србији. Предложена техничка спецификација модела састоји се од дистрибуиране инфраструктуре за повезивање и координацију великог броја корисничких IoT уређаја. За прикупљање, анализу и управљање подацима у реалном времену користе се аналитичке методе и софтверски алати базирани на пословној интелигенцији. Предност предложеног модела је у могућности примене на тржиштима електричне енергије која су у развоју, ниским иницијалним инвестицијама и интеграцији са smart grid технологијама. Subjects/Keywords: The subject of this thesis is the development of an e-business model based on flexible participation of households in the Serbian energy market. The goal is the development of a sustainable and suitable e-business model that enables households as well as individual devices to participate in the balancing market as well as the energy exchange through the use of smart grid concepts and demand response technologies. By enabling the participation of individual households in the balancing market; a new mechanism for frequency control of energy grids is possible; which allows for the future adoption of renewables. Energy markets are traditionally B2B e-business models; which facilitate for business processes between the energy producers and the system operators. With the deregulation of energy markets; new ways of doing business are becoming possible; primarily for households for whom the participation in the market allows for greater flexibility and efficiency in the balancing mechanism and the potential to improve the stability of the energy grid as a whole. The business model proposed in this dissertation is based on the business rules as well as regulations that are currently in place in the Republic of Serbia. The implementation of the technical segment of the model is based on the design of a distributed infrastructure for the coordination of a large number of individual users and devices with the goal of providing demand response services to the energy market. Business intelligence tools; as well as analytical models; will be used for the purpose of data extraction and analysis as well as to manage the system in real time. The advantage of the proposed model is in the fact that it is adapted for energy markets that are still in development; as well as its capability to adapt to new technological trends and its integration with smart grid technologies. The dissertation gives the analysis of readiness of customers and market participants for the application of the propsed model.

The protein-DNA interactions within the transcription PIC of the archaeal hyperthermophile; Pyrococcus furiosus (Pf) were probed by site-specific DNA-to-protein photocrosslinking. This involved the assembly of the PIC including Pf RNA polymerase (Pf RNAP) and general transcription factors Pf TATA-binding protein (Pf TBP) and Pf transcription factor B (Pf TBP) on 41 azido-phenacyl derivatized DNA promoter fragments containing the Pf glutamate dehydrogenase upstream promoter + gene. The region from -40 to +1 (transcription start site is +1) of both the template and nontemplate DNA promoter was probed. Pf RNAP-DNA promoter interactions span the entire probed region. Pf TFB-DNA promoter interactions occur upstream and downstream of the TATA box promoter element. Pf TBP-DNA interactions center around the TATA box promoter element. Results provide evidence of the homology between eukaryal RNA polymerase II gene transcription system and the archaeal gene transcription system. Pf TFB-DNA interactions are more extensive in the archaeal PIC than those seen in the analogous eukaryal system between transcription factor IIB (TFIIB) and promoter DNA. The Pf TFB-DNA interactions reported here provide support for a mechanism by which Pf TFB carries out its roles in PIC assembly of recruiting Pf RNAP to the complex and accurate start site selection.

Experimental analysis of noise of railway vehicles in Brno is a part of the thesis. Based on the outcomes of the analysis; technical parameters of module and parameters for control of application are defined. Final solution is based on open-source platform Arduino and it is verified experimentally. Outcomes of this experiments confirmed; that application of products for modification of adhesion managed on dependence on noise is possible and it seems to be effective for reducing noise emission caused by railway vehicles.

▼ Purpose: To conduct a situation analysis of the implementation of VISION 2020 “The Right to Sight” global initiative in Burundi. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study targeting District, Regional, and National Hospitals in Burundi. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data on number and distribution of different cadres of eye personnel, infrastructure and equipment, Cataract surgical rate achieved one year prior to the study, availability of coordination, structure and membership of a prevention of blindness committee, eye training programmes and access to eye care services. Data were compiled in 7 ophthalmic regions. The recommendations of Vision 2020 were used to benchmark resources as meeting, exceeding or not meeting targets. Results: There was a National committee for Prevention of Blindness in place in Burundi even though it was operating on outdated strategic plan of 2006-2011 and managed to meet only once in 2011,2013 and2014 and no meeting in 2012 and 2015. Burundi had not met any of the Vision 2020 targets for human resources. The country had achieved the following: 37.5% of the target for Ophthalmologists, 66.0% for Ophthalmic Clinical Officers and 5.1% for Optometrists. The mean deficit for all cadres was 72.8%. Out of the 15 ophthalmologists in Burundi, 80% were based in Bujumbura with 4 out of 7 regions having no ophthalmologist at all. Sixty eight percent of eye care facilities belonged to private sector and 75% were in urban areas. The Cataract Surgical Rate for 2015 was 138. The ratio of ophthalmologists who performed cataract surgery to those who did not was 1:3.75. All the centres well equipped to offer refractive services whereas there were only two centres equipped with laser for management of diabetic retinopathy and three centres equipped with Visual fields for follow up of glaucoma patients. Conclusions: Burundi had not met the targets for human resources by 2015. Most of eye care services were concentrated in the capital Bujumbura leaving most of other areas grossly underserved. Most of eye care activities were offered by the private sector. Only refractive services were available in most centres with inadequate equipment for management of diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. The CSR was low and most ophthalmologists were not performing cataract surgery

O neoliberalismo como a versão atual do capitalismo tem produzido uma série de problemas, o agravamento da tendência capitalista a mercantilização universal onde tudo é transformado em mercadoria, inclusive a educação, saúde, cultura e desporto. Valendo neste sistema o interesse individual onde os direitos sociais e econômicos são minimizados. Os princípios básicos do neoliberalismo são: Mínima participação estatal na economia de um país, pouquíssima intervenção do governo no mercado de trabalho, privatização das estatais, livre circulação de capitais internacionais, destaque na globalização, abertura da economia para a entrada de multinacionais, adoção de medidas contra o protecionismo econômico e desburocratização do estado. Considerando que, a educação é mais que uma forma de investimento do capital, a concepção neoliberal da educação que transformou-se em mais um elemento de fortalecimento do modelo da política econômica capitalista implantada nos e pelos países em desenvolvimento sócio econômico. No discurso neoliberal a educação passa a ingressar no mercado capitalista funcionando logo a sua semelhança, deixando-se assim de ser parte do campo social e político, os conteúdos políticos da cidadania, foi substituído pelos direitos do consumidor. Daí a visão neoliberal de que os pais e alunos são consumidores. De modo geral, percebemos que nos últimos anos através dos documentos oficiais evidenciam a presença das estratégias neoliberais sendo implementadas no Brasil. De igual modo a educação tem sido voltada para os interesses dos donos do capital. Sendo assim com essa pesquisa pretendo analisar as influencias que essa nova vertente capitalista tem causado na educação básica brasileira.

▼ In North Carolina, Local Education Agencies (LEA) control the curriculum resources used to teach and assess the state mathematics standards. Districts that have funds can purchase costly commercially-made assessments which may or may not align to the standards. When using commercial materials feedback is typically not provided in a timely or useful manner that allows for effective changes in classroom instruction. Districts without the funds use teacher created assessments which again may or may not align to standards and the results may or may not be interpreted in a way that easily informs classroom practices. The quality of the commercial or teacher-made assessments typically are comprised of items that tend to have a low cognitive demand, focused on recall, and in a format, that does not mirror the state-created high-stakes Endof- Grade (EOG) assessments. According to most district leaders, many teachers do not value or understand how to use the results of commercial or district made assessments to formatively guide classroom instruction and improve student learning outcomes in mathematics. In this study, a mixed methods approach is used to research minimum increases in students’ mathematics proficiency levels. The quantitative portion of this study focuses on the extant data of mathematics proficiency level scores. The qualitative portion focuses on data collection through interviews with teachers to better understand how teachers used the quarterly assessments to guide classroom instruction. iii To explore a possible solution to the problem of minimum increase in student mathematics proficiency levels, the North Carolina (NC) Department of Public Instruction’s accountability division developed state formative quarterly assessments. These assessments are highly aligned to the mathematics standards, have high cognitive demanding items, provide timely feedback and use the same format as the high stakes state EOG assessments. Teachers from six different schools were interviewed. Interviews were coded and themes evolved. The teachers who demonstrated substantial student proficiency level growth had a solid understanding of the purpose of formative assessments and how to use the data to guide classroom instruction. They felt the use of the formative assessments’ feedback changed their classroom instruction significantly and helped them to build a deeper understanding of the standards themselves. The teachers collaboratively planned and used error analysis to focus on interventions and enrichment. They realized students needed to make sense of problems and to explain their thinking and reasoning to build a deeper mathematical understanding. Teachers made changes in their teaching practices by focusing more on application, not just on computation. Teachers also realized they had to change their instruction by providing high cognitive demanding tasks daily. Their willingness to use the state-created formative assessments to make change improved student mathematics proficiency levels. ▼ Fusarium verticillioides causes an important seed disease on maize and produces fumonisin B1 (FB1), a mycotoxin that is detrimental to human and animal health. Previous studies discovered that expression of FST1 is required for FB1 production and wild-type level of virulence on maize seeds. FST1 encodes a putative protein with 12 transmembrane domains with sequence similarity to hexose transporters. However, those studies have failed to prove its ability to transport glucose, fructose or mannose. I identified another three phenotypes associated with the lack of a functional FST1, which includes reduced hydrophobicity of hyphae, reduced macroconidia production, and increased sensitivity to hydrogen peroxide. My research compared the transcriptome of the wild type and strain Δfst1 when grown on autoclaved maize kernels. The 17 % of transcriptome (2677 genes) were differentially expressed. Examination of these genes indicated that the disruption of FST1 function affected genes involved in secondary metabolism, cell structure, conidiogenesis, virulence, and resistance to reactive oxygen species. Additionally, I used a Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain (Δitr1) lacking a functional inositol transporter gene (ITR1) to study the function of FST1. This yeast mutant grows poorly in myo-inositol medium and is not inhibited by FB1. I found that expression of FST1 in strain Δitr1 restored growth on myo-inositol medium and sensitivity to FB1 to levels observed in the wild-type yeast strain. The results indicate that FST1 can function as an inositol transporter and suggests it can transport FB1 into fungal cells. Finally, the functional importance of amino acids in FST1 was examined by creating targeted mutations in the central loop and C-terminus regions of the protein. Expression of these engineered FST1 genes in stain Δitr1 of S. cerevisiae and strain Δfst1 of F. verticillioidesindicated that both the central loop and C-terminus are critical for FST1 functionality. Overall this research has established the first characterized inositol transporter in filamentous fungi and has advanced our knowledge about the global regulatory functions of FST1. The paper gives an overview of the European Union’s role in the development of good public administration in Lithuania. It discusses the concept of good governance and how it is treated by international organizations. White Paper on European governance, transparency initiative, in consultation with the public and the Ombudsman contributes to the promotion of good governance. ▼ This dissertation makes a case that Cognitive Poetics research and methodologies are an important addition to a holistic literary analyses of poetic texts. The hypothesis is that integrating an analysis of readers' initial, pre‐lexical responses to the sound and visual information in a poem can yield interesting and instructive data that adds to a full understanding of the text while instructing writers on possible avenues for their craft. The dissertation uses recent scientific research into how people read, comprehend and make meaning of texts to support this thesis. The first chapter explains the foundations of Cognitive Poetic reading approaches, including new neuroscience, physiology and psycholinguistics research on textual processing now available due to scientific advancements. Then, I address and rebut some critical arguments against Cognitive Poetics, including the problems inherent with reader‐response criticism of all kinds as well as the challenges with humanities/science interdisciplinary research in general. In the second chapter, I enact a Cognitive Poetic‐inclusive reading of a singe text, William Carlos Williams' ""The Attic Which Is Desire."" I begin by explaining the methodology behind a Cognitive Poetics‐inclusive reading, stressing both the first‐person phenomenological nature of the reading and, consequently, the necessity of using Cognitive Poetics as only a single element in a multi‐faceted reading approach. From there, I juxtapose the first‐person phenomenological reading with traditional, scientific, linguistic and anecdotal responses to the poem (as a whole and in parts) in order to offer a full case study of the poem's possibilities. I also conducted and included a survey of 429 participants who responded to cognition‐based questions on the sound, visual structure and meaning of the poem. A roundup of that data is available in Appendix A, and the full survey data is available in Appendix C. This dissertation also includes my full‐length poetry collection, Interrobang (Red Hen Press, 2013), which I believe works as an example of how Cognitive Poetic knowledge and inquiry can inform a writer's craft. By working heavily with meter and rhyme, the poems in the collection contrast playful and frenetic sounds and rhythms with what are ostensibly dark and ominous subjects. Tema doktorske disertacije sodi na področje didaktike fizike. Predstavljena je teoretična analiza ključnih omejitev, ki se pojavljajo pri prenosu matematičnega modeliranja dinamičnih sistemov v pouk fizike v srednjih šolah. V želji raziskati, v kolikšni meri sedanji pouk fizike spodbuja razumevanje modelov in modeliranja, analiziramo učni načrt in tri najpogosteje uporabljene učbenike za gimnazijsko fiziko. Osredotočimo se predvsem na zastopanost posameznih faz modeliranja pri rešenih primerih v učbenikih ter na predstavitev nekaterih poenostavitev in idealizacij, ki se jih na področju srednješolske fizike pogosto poslužujemo. Pokažemo, da eden od učbenikov v večini primerov korektno in smiselno predstavi poenostavitve v tekstu, medtem ko druga dva polovice analiziranih poenostavitev ne pojasnita. Prav tako se izkaže, da velika večina rešenih primerov v vseh učbenikih eksplicitno ne izpostavlja privzetih predpostavk, na podlagi česa lahko zaključimo, da pri pouku fizike v srednji šoli pri dijakih ne razvijamo v zadostni meri občutka za privzemanje poenostavitev in idealizacij, ki pa so ključni del faze konceptualne faze modeliranja. Za vpeljevanje modeliranja dinamičnih sistemov je pomembno tudi predznanje dijakov, zato izvedemo empirično raziskavo o tem, v kolikšni meri so dijaki v gimnaziji sposobni razumeti časovni razvoj nekaterih dinamičnih sistemov s področja fizike. Rezultati raziskave pokažejo pri dijakih zelo šibko razumevanje dinamike sistemov, v katerih se nahajajo povratne vezave in to ne glede na letnik ali zaključeno oceno pri fiziki in matematiki. Pri modeliranju dinamičnih sistemov pri pouku fizike v srednji šoli naletimo tudi na omejitve, ki so posledica pomanjkljivega matematičnega znanja dijakov, saj le-ti analitičnega reševanja diferencialnih enačb ne obvladajo. Pokažemo, da je pri obravnavi enodimenzionalnih dinamičnih sistemov smiseln geometrijski pristop k reševanju diferencialnih enačb, medtem ko se pri dinamičnih sistemih višjih dimenzij matematičnim omejitvam izognemo z uporabo grafično orientiranih programov za modeliranje. Ker pri reševanju štiri in več dimenzionalnih dinamičnih sistemov lahko naletimo na probleme pri numeričnem reševanju, pokažemo tudi, kako jih presežemo. Na primeru elektrostatičnega nihala prikažemo postopek modeliranja realnega dinamičnega sistema, pri čemer posebej poudarimo posamezne faze modeliranje in način preseganja omejitev, na katere pri razvoju modela naletimo.

Theoretical analysis of the key constraints that occur in the transmission of mathematical modeling of dynamical systems into field of physics education in secondary schools is presented. In an effort to explore the extent to which current physics education promotes understanding of models and modeling; we analyze the curriculum and the three most commonly used textbooks for high school physics. We focus primarily on the representation of the various stages of modeling in the solved tasks in textbooks and on the presentation of certain simplifications and idealizations; which are in high school physics frequently used. We show that one of the textbooks in most cases fairly and reasonably presents the simplifications; while the other two half of the analyzed simplifications do not explain.
