▼ Предмет истраживања дисертације је развој модела електронског пословања заснованог на флексибилном учешћу потрошача на српском тржишту електричне енергије. Циљ је развoj одрживoг и применљивoг моделa електронског пословања који омогућава учешће домаћинстава и појединачних уређаја на балансном тржишту и на берзи електричне енергије коришћењем smart grid технологија и demand-response сервиса. Учествовањем појединачних домаћинстава и уређаја у балансном тржишту омогућава се прецизна контрола фреквенције електроенергетског система, што oтвара могућности за експлоатацију обновљивих извора електричне енергије преко флексибилнијег и тачнијег управљања флуктуацијама. Tржиштa електричне енергије традиционално функционишу по B2B моделу електронског пословања где се пословање врши искључиво између произвођача и оператора тржишта. Дерегулација отвара нове могућности пословања за тржишта електричне енергије, претежно за домаћинства чијом се инклузијом у великој мери може повећати флексибилност и ефикасност механизма балансирања и целокупна стабилност електроенергетске мреже. Пословни модел предложен у овој дисертацији прилагођен је пословном окружењу и регулативи у Републици Србији. Предложена техничка спецификација модела састоји се од дистрибуиране инфраструктуре за повезивање и координацију великог броја корисничких IoT уређаја. За прикупљање, анализу и управљање подацима у реалном времену користе се аналитичке методе и софтверски алати базирани на пословној интелигенцији. Предност предложеног модела је у могућности примене на тржиштима електричне енергије која су у развоју, ниским иницијалним инвестицијама и интеграцији са smart grid технологијама. Subjects/Keywords: The subject of this thesis is the development of an e-business model based on flexible participation of households in the Serbian energy market. The goal is the development of a sustainable and suitable e-business model that enables households as well as individual devices to participate in the balancing market as well as the energy exchange through the use of smart grid concepts and demand response technologies. By enabling the participation of individual households in the balancing market; a new mechanism for frequency control of energy grids is possible; which allows for the future adoption of renewables. Energy markets are traditionally B2B e-business models; which facilitate for business processes between the energy producers and the system operators. With the deregulation of energy markets; new ways of doing business are becoming possible; primarily for households for whom the participation in the market allows for greater flexibility and efficiency in the balancing mechanism and the potential to improve the stability of the energy grid as a whole. The business model proposed in this dissertation is based on the business rules as well as regulations that are currently in place in the Republic of Serbia. The implementation of the technical segment of the model is based on the design of a distributed infrastructure for the coordination of a large number of individual users and devices with the goal of providing demand response services to the energy market. Business intelligence tools; as well as analytical models; will be used for the purpose of data extraction and analysis as well as to manage the system in real time. The advantage of the proposed model is in the fact that it is adapted for energy markets that are still in development; as well as its capability to adapt to new technological trends and its integration with smart grid technologies. The dissertation gives the analysis of readiness of customers and market participants for the application of the propsed model.

In this re-gard, the aim of this work is to design a fully autonomous electronic system for a smart bottle packaging, being integrated in a European project named ROLL-OUT. The desired application for the smart bottle is to act as a fill-level sensor system in order to determine the liquid content level that exists inside an opaque bottle, so the consumer can exactly know the remaining quantity of the product inside. An in-house amorphous indium–gallium–zinc oxide thin-film transistor (a-IGZO TFT) model, previously developed, was used for circuit designing purposes. This model was based in an artificial neural network (ANN) equivalent circuit approach. Taking into account that only n-type oxide TFTs were used, plenty of electronic building-blocks have been designed: clock generator, non-overlapping phase generator, a capacitance-to-voltage converter and a comparator. As it was demonstrated by electrical simulations, it has been achieved good functionality for each block, having a final system with a power dissipation of 2.3 mW (VDD=10 V) not considering the clock generator. Four printed circuit boards (PCBs) have been also designed in order to help in the testing phase. A abordagem multifuncional da agricultura articula-se genuinamente com as premissas institucionalizadas pela atual Política Nacional de Recursos Hídricos, sendo ambas resultado de uma lógica que busca atender aos fortes apelos sociais pela proteção ambiental e por práticas voltadas ao desenvolvimento sustentável. Frente a esta conjuntura, a presente dissertação aborda como o segmento de orizicultores irrigantes, um dos principais usuários de recursos hídricos, percebe as novas demandas sociais sobre o rural, mais especificamente a ambiental. Também busca analisar empiricamente o potencial que a adoção de um instrumento econômico na gestão das águas tem de influenciar os usuários a buscarem formas mais sustentáveis de uso deste recurso, promovendo mudanças atitudinais em suas práticas agrícolas. O universo de investigação foi composto por vinte orizicultores com lavouras situadas no município de Cacequi/RS, o qual baseia grande parte de sua receita financeira pautada na produção de arroz irrigado. Como aporte metodológico utilizou-se a abordagem qualitativa tendo como ferramentas de coleta de dados o uso de questionários e a realização de entrevistas semi-estruturadas. O estudo mostrou que a maior parte dos orizicultores trata a função ambiental do agricultor meramente como uma obrigatoriedade legal. Também se pôde perceber que, caso não houvesse uma rígida legislação e, principalmente, se esta não estivesse intimamente atrelada à lógica monetária, haveria pouca mudança na postura destes sujeitos frente às suas práticas profissionais que interferem negativamente no ambiente. Embora a maior parte dos orizicultores concorde que a questão da água merece cuidados, de modo geral, mostram-se inconformados com o novo ordenamento jurídico que regula o uso de tal recurso natural. Os orizicultores entrevistados avaliam a cobrança pela captação e uso da água como um instrumento meramente arrecadatório e sem eficácia prática. Transparece a grande dificuldade deste segmento de vislumbrar a agricultura por uma lógica multifuncional, que vá além da produção de alimentos, capaz de contemplar outros papéis para o agricultor e a agricultura no mundo contemporâneo. A lógica que está orientando estes orizicultores ainda é a da agricultura como mero recorte setorial da economia.

The multifunctional approach of the agriculture articulates genuinely with the premises institutionalized by the current National Politics of Water Resources, which both result of a logic that looks for to assist to the forts social appeals for the environmental protection and for practices returned to the maintainable development. ▼ The work seeks to understand the process of reterritorialization triggered by tourism development in Tibau do Sul / RN, noting its economic, socio-cultural and political implications to the local society. Tourist activity was addressed as socio-cultural phenomenon, considering the case of (dis) (re) territorialization and power relations between staff producers of the tourism space. Given the complexity of this issue and the need for further studies that focus on the reterritorialization cases generated by tourism in the northeastern coast, given the action of the agents involved in the construction of the spaces generated by tourism, this work is then justified. For such a study an exploratory and qualitative study was conducted, through a survey of secondary and primary data, and interviews with leaders of public, private nonprofit community in the investigated county. In this sense, it was found that the process of (dis) (re) territorialization in the city investigated, permeates the contradictions resulting from the conflicts existing power while providing the location and implications for economic and sociocultural dimensions, its heart is found in the political, the relationship between entrepreneurship - established mainly by outsiders who own businesses in Pipa - and local government - composed entirely by insiders who work in the municipal headquarters, that until then, hold the political and the economic power. Thus, to understand the regionalization of tourism it is necessary to analyze its economic, socio-cultural and political dimensions, referring to the complexity of relationships between producing space agents. O trabalho busca compreender o processo de reterritorialização desencadeado pelo desenvolvimento do turismo em Tibau do Sul/RN, observando suas implicações econômicas, socioculturais e políticas para a sociedade local. A atividade turística foi abordada enquanto fenômeno sociocultural, considerando-se o processo de (des) (re) territorialização e as relações de poder entre os agentes produtores do espaço turístico. Tendo em vista a complexidade dessa temática e a necessidade de aprofundar estudos que enfoquem os processos desencadeados pela reterritorialização turística no litoral nordestino, tendo em vista a ação dos agentes envolvidos na construção dos espaços produzidos pelo turismo, justifica-se o trabalho. Para tanto foi realizado um estudo exploratório e qualitativo, através de levantamento de dados secundários e primários, e a realização de entrevistas com as lideranças do poder público, iniciativa privada, terceiro setor e comunidade do município pesquisado. Nesse sentido, constatou-se que o processo de (des)(re)territorialização no município investigado, perpassa por contradições resultantes dos conflitos de poder existentes na localidade e embora traga implicações nas dimensões econômicas e socioculturais, seu cerne é verificado no âmbito político, na relação entre o empresariado marcado predominantemente por outsiders que possuem negócios em Pipa e o Poder Público local integralmente composto por insiders que atuam na sede municipal, que até então, além de deter o poder político também detinham o poder econômico. Dessa forma, compreender a territorialização pelo turismo é analisar suas dimensões econômica, sociocultural e política; remetendo-se à complexidade das relações entre os agentes produtores do espaço. ▼ While much has been written on the Australian film and television industry, little has been presented by actual producers, filmmakers and technicians of their time and experiences within that same industry. Similarly, with historical documentaries, it has been academics rather than filmmakers who have led the debate. This thesis addresses this shortcoming and bridges the gap between practitioner experience and intellectual discussion, synthesising the debate and providing an important contribution from a filmmaker-academic, in its own way unique and insightful. The thesis is presented in two voices. First, my voice, the voice of memoir and recollected experience of my screen adventures over 38 years within the Australian industry, mainly producing historical documentaries for the ABC and the SBS. This is represented in italics. The second half and the alternate chapters provide the industry framework in which I worked with particular emphasis on documentaries and how this evolved and developed over a 40-year period, from 1970 to 2010. Within these two voices are three layers against which this history is reviewed and presented. Forming the base of the pyramid is the broad Australian film industry made up of feature films, documentary, television drama, animation and other types and styles of production. Above this is the genre documentary within this broad industry, and making up the small top tip of the pyramid, the sub-genre of historical documentary. These form the vertical structure within which industry issues are discussed. Threading through it are the duel determinants of production: ‘the market’ and ‘funding’. Underpinning the industry is the involvement of government, both state and federal, forming the three dimensional matrix for the thesis. For over 100 years the Australian film industry has depended on government support through subsidy, funding mechanisms, development assistance, broadcast policy and legislative provisions. This thesis aims to weave together these industry layers, binding them with the determinants of the market and funding, and immersing them beneath layers of government legislation and policy to present a new view of the Australian film industry.

▼ The fair trade and food sovereignty movements adopt very different strategies for challenging the existing international agricultural trade regime. Food sovereignty contests and resists the existing system, employing contentious politics and an “outside strategy” motivated by the view that the regime cannot be reformed. Meanwhile, fair trade largely focuses on existing opportunities within the system, taking up a collaborative, “inside strategy” in an effort to progress towards an equitable and just trade system. These movements have notable differences in their views on how to change how trade is governed. This research seeks to explain and understand why these two different movements take up different strategies in pursuit of a common goal. To understand and explain these two strategies, I analyze their strategies and activities, and the factors that explain these, through an interdisciplinary analytical framework that bridges the theory and practice of governance and change. My findings and analysis demonstrate that when we analyze these movements through such a lens, we see more clearly the complexities of governing international trade and challenging neoliberal hegemony, and how the seemingly divergent strategies of these movements are complementary to achieving economic justice. The fair trade movement’s inside, collaborative strategy has leveraged available opportunities to shape policy, raise awareness on injustices in trade and global supply chains, and to change the norms and discourses on international trade. These activities are complemented by political advocacy that is rarely acknowledged in the academic analysis of the movement. Those in the movement who work with fair trade markets do not treat markets as a sufficient mechanism to address injustices in the international trade system. Rather, they see markets as a short-term option for poor producers, and as a mechanism to contribute to facilitating new opportunities to make long-term changes in the system. However, the movement responds to existing conditions, and does not seek to push for new opportunities where none exist. Food sovereignty, meanwhile, has forged space for peasant voices and democratic legitimacy in global governance of food and agriculture through its contentious politics, and has been part of the movement that has raised significant awareness and distrust around free trade agreements. But the movement appears to be guided by more principles than a strategy that has identified the processes for achieving its goals for fairer trade. It also does not fully appreciate how its strategy affects export commodity farmers. While it seeks to dismantle, rather than reform, the WTO, it does not have a concrete vision for an alternative without the WTO. With a vision that no opportunities can emerge from its contentious politics, its strategy does not align with what we know about this type of strategy’s contributions to change. ▼ Aiming to make an intervention in both emerging Slow Cinema and classical Trauma Cinema scholarship, this thesis demonstrates the ways in which the post-trauma cinema of Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz merges aesthetics of cinematic slowness with narratives of post-trauma in his films Melancholia (2008), Death in the Land of Encantos (2007) and Florentina Hubaldo, CTE (2012). Diaz has been repeatedly considered as representative of what Jonathan Romney termed in 2004 “Slow Cinema”. The director uses cinematic slowness for an alternative approach to an on-screen representation of post-trauma. Contrary to popular trauma cinema, Diaz’s portrait of individual and collective trauma focuses not on the instantenaeity but on the duration of trauma. In considering trauma as a condition and not as an event, Diaz challenges the standard aesthetical techniques used in contemporary Trauma Cinema, as highlighted by Janet Walker (2001, 2005), Susannah Radstone (2001), Roger Luckhurst (2008) and others. Diaz’s films focus instead on trauma’s latency period, the depletion of a survivor’s resources, and a character’s slow psychological breakdown. Slow Cinema scholarship has so far focused largely on the films’ aesthetics and their alleged opposition to mainstream cinema. Little work has been done in connecting the films’ form to their content. Furthermore, Trauma Cinema scholarship, as trauma films themselves, has been based on the immediate and most radical signs of post-trauma, which are characterised by instantaneity; flashbacks, sudden fears of death and sensorial overstimulation. Following Lutz Koepnick’s argument that slowness offers “intriguing perspectives” (Koepnick, 2014: 191) on how trauma can be represented in art, this thesis seeks to consider the equally important aspects of trauma duration, trauma’s latency period and the slow development of characteristic symptoms. With the present work, I expand on current notions of Trauma Cinema, which places emphasis on speed and the unpredictability of intrusive memories. Furthermore, I aim to broaden the area of Slow Cinema studies, which has so far been largely focused on the films’ respective aesthetics, by bridging form and content of the films under investigation. Rather than seeing Diaz’s slow films in isolation as a phenomenon of Slow Cinema, I seek to connect them to the existing scholarship of Trauma Cinema studies, thereby opening up a reading of his films.

Music production is constantly evolving and new "gadgets" and "apps" to help the creation of music are continuously being released. They enable the music production, so even the most unskilled music maker can produce one ́s own slideshow from the vacation for example, or a digital Christmas card to send to the loved ones. But if we are to have education for future music producers in high school, then what are we going to teach the students, so that they are able to advance from the "everyday" use to a more professional level of music production. Are the goals that have been set up for the course music by the Agency for education really relevant to what will be expected of a music producer now and in the future? The survey that has been made by data acquisition of young people shows a picture of the progress and a future vision of the music creation. Additionally, interviews with practicing teachers and music producers have been made, where each and one are giving their personal view of music production around us today. What has emerged from these studies is that in spite of the democracy and availability, which is characteristic of today ́s music production, the need of experts who perform this profession is indeed still great. The objectives and requirements for music production in high school set by the Agency for education, reflects the realities of music producers today relatively well, but that’s mainly because the objectives are hugely extensive and interpretable. If we want a more democratic music production, the availability needs to improve further.

Men om vi nu ska ha utbildningar för kommande musikproducenter på gymnasiet, vad är det då som ska undervisas för att vidareutveckla sig från det ”vardagliga” användandet som enkelt går att lära sig på egen hand, till ett mer professionellt musikproducerande. Är de mål som skolverket har implementerat för kursen musikproduktion verkligen relevanta med vad som kommer att förväntas av en musikproducent, i nutid och i framtiden? Undersökningen som har gjorts genom datainsamling via enkät från ungdomar, visar en bild av utvecklingen och framtidsvisionen av musikskapandet. Vidare har intervjuer genomförts med verksamma lärare och musikproducenter, som har bidragit med sin egen uppfattning av dagens musikproduktion som finns runt omkring oss. This thesis assesses the long-term legacy of the anticommunist witch-hunts of the 1940s and 1950s on the political aesthetics of postwar Hollywood, focusing on selected blacklistees who, both individually and as a distinct group of class conscious filmmakers, embodied the new wave of social criticism of American capitalism on film before the HUAC offensive. – The main subjects of this research - Polonsky, Rossen, Losey, Kazan, and Biberman - are reexamined as representatives of distinct ideological strands of the 'proletarianized' left culture of the first half of 20th century America. These key figures of the Hollywood Left are useful case studies on the impact of McCarthyism on American film art not only because their politics pushed them into the firing line of the anticommunist establishment, but also because, having matured artistically during this period of political reaction, their stories suggest some unexplored potential aesthetic directions for postwar American cinema, possible pathways prematurely blocked by the blacklisting of these filmmakers. – Polonsky's sophisticated grasp of Marxism will be counter-posed to Rossen's Popular Front liberalism in their cinematic challenges to the American Way. Losey, who, along with Polonsky, carried the Marxist torch in Hollywood, went further than any US radical filmmaker in merging American vernacular modernism with Marxism. His assimilation of Meyerhold's political aesthetics, more than any other theoretical conquest in the Hollywood Left, held the promise of the kind of film art he eventually would accomplish, at least partially, in exile, in his collaboration with Harold Pinter in England. – Kazan's and Brando's collaboration in On the Waterfront, heralded not only the triumph of naturalism in acting, but a fundamental shift in the approach to depicting social problems on film, centered now on individualism. Stanislavsky's triumph over Meyerhold (and Brecht) marked an irrevocable break from the 1930s paradigm in Hollywood, and the extinction of the proletarian ethos of the Popular Front era. The creators of Salt of the Earth, on the other hand, doggedly stuck to the proletarian, and by now criminalized, principles of their youth, earning the unique distinction of producing the only officially banned film in America. Abstract This study describes the central views of MTK on Finnish environmental policy during the period 1980-2000. The empirical material is collected from the magazine Maataloustuottaja. The data is analyzed using ethnographic content analysis and examining the central arguments and discoursive structures of the texts. The study begins with a description of the development of Finnish agriculture and of MTK. The first chapter also presents and evaluates empirical studies on the environmental views of Finnish farmers. The following chapter discusses some theoretical and methodological issues in environmental sociology. The theoretical foundation of this study is grounded in the idea of ecological modernization and social justice in environmental issues. The essential methodological tension that underpins environmental sociology is between critical realism and social constructivism. The starting point of this research lies between critical realism and moderate constructivism; in other words, naïve realism and strong constructivism or scientism and relativism have been abandoned. This starting point is also closely connected to environmental pragmatism. The empirical part of the study begins with a thematical discussion on changes in the views that MTK has adopted toward environmental policy issues. Although these views have not changed significantly over the years, MTK has shown an increased interest in organic production and in cooperation with consumer and worker organizations to promote "environmentally pure", local food production and the social sustainability of Finnish food production and countryside. The second part of the empirical study reveals some stable discoursive practices in the environmental rhetoric of MTK that has traditionally accentuated the connection between nature and agriculture and the notion of farmers as stewards of nature. At the same time, MTK has emphasized the alienation of urbanites and environmental policy-makers from nature and countryside. MTK has also expressed a concern about private property rights, economic expenses and a variety of practical problems caused by nature conservation and preservation. MTK's attitude towards family farming is contradictory: they are regarded as the models of agriculture, while the scale of production is growing.

Tutkimusaineistona on käytetty sen julkaiseman "Maataloustuottaja" -lehden ympäristökysymyksiä käsitteleviä kirjoituksia. ▼ In my dissertation, I discuss three of Akın’s feature films: Im Juli (In July, 2000), Gegen die Wand (Head-On, 2004), and Auf der anderen Seite (The Edge of Heaven, 2007) in order to investigate Akın’s filmic visions of Europe. Through close textual readings, I analyze three aspects of his films in particular: the spatial conceptions of Europe (city- and landscapes), the sounds of Europe (music and languages) as well as the display of ethnic minorities and the changing urban demography in Germany and Europe. I argue that Akın employs an “aesthetic of heterogeneity” to portray his filmic Europe as a diverse space, in which multiethnic and multilingual music, people, and sceneries are juxtaposed with regions that often have been perceived historically and politically as distinct and complicated. My first chapter discusses Akın’s conceptions and depictions of European Space in In July. By analyzing city- and landscapes, soundscapes, and dynamic spaces in In July, I argue that Akın provides a dynamic, fluctuating, and interconnected European space, including Eastern Europe and Turkey. In my second chapter, I scrutinize language use and dialogue in Head-On to map out the changing demographics in European urban spaces. Ultimately, I argue that Akın moves beyond Hamid Naficy’s theory of “accented cinema” by including accented languages and dialects for all protagonists, including Western Europeans. Through this linguistic polyphony, multilingualism and a diversity of accents are depicted as integral elements of today’s Europe. In my final chapter, I discuss the sound of Europe as depicted in The Edge of Heaven. Looking particularly at music (and music lyrics) in the film, I argue that Akın’s use of dubbed and remixed music (especially by the artist Shantel) underscores Akın’s filmic challenges to (national) European borders. By foregrounding the mixed styles of music, where an “original” becomes hard to decipher, the director shows, on an aural level, that blurring boundaries and multidirectional movement are the predominant components of today’s Europe.
