Syftet med denna uppsats är att analysera det nuvarande samt föregående befälssystem medavsikten att utröna vad i tillämpningen av det nya som skall bli annorlunda ifrån det föregående. Avsikten är även att kritiskt granska hur de båda systemen skiljer sig åt och vilka för ochnackdelar de kan tänkas föra med sig. 1983 införeds Ny Befälsordning, NBO, i Sverige vilket var ett befälssystem utan en motsvarighet i övriga världen. Detta befälssystem har blivit omdiskuterat och kritiserat vilket lett fram till att det i januari 2006 fattades ett beslut om återinförande av ettflerbefälssystem, Tvåbefälssystemet. Detta arbete vill visa vilka förändringar som gjorts så välsom att undersöka vilka fördelar respektive nackdelar detta byte kan tänkas föra med sig. Denna del har genomförts med en kvalitativ metod och med i huvudsak officiella dokument och utredningar. Resultaten har visat på att fördelarna och nackdelarna för de båda systemen är flera. Samt att Försvarsmakten med återinförandet av ett flerbefälssystem försökt att dels råda bot på de brister som uppstått efter införandet av NBO såväl som att förvalta arvet ifrån tidigare system ochta fasta på de lärdomar och erfarenheter som dragits tidigare.

The main purpose of this thesis is to analyse the present and the previous officer systems. Thefocus of the study is to discern what in the application of the new officer system will differfrom the old one, namely what its new features will be. The author intends to critically revisehow the two systems differ from each other and what pros and cons they each have.In 1983 the One-level Command System was introduced in Sweden. It did not have anyequivalent in other armed forces around the world. This system has been debated andcriticized immensely and in January 2006 the decision was made to reintroduce a consolidatedofficer system in the shape of an “all rank system”. This thesis intends to show the alterationswhich have been made as well as to examine the pros and cons of the two systems.This study has been carried out with the help and use of a qualitative method and mainly theuse of official documents and inquiries.The study shows that there are several benefits and disadvantages in both systems. Byintroducing the “all rank system” the Swedish National Defence has made an attempt toremedy the shortcomings of the one-level command system as well as to keep a portion of thelegacy from the earlier systems.

Ledning är en av de sex militära grundförmågorna i vår doktrin, ledningens syfte är att inrikta en militär insats mot ett gemensamt militärt mål och att samordna de militära resurser som behövs för att lösa uppgiften. Vår doktrin har till uppgift att förmedla ett gemensamt förhållningssätt för att skapa ett gemensamt språk mellan staber, chefer och underlydande som underlättar ledning. Doktrinen till trots så finns en begreppsförvirring inom ledning där att leda, ledning och ledarskap inte särskiljs den här undersökningen studerar varför det råder en begreppsförvirring inom ledning. Genom en jämförande studie mellan den svenska doktrinen och den brittiska motsvarigheten mäter undersökningen hur väl doktrinerna skildrar ett ledningssystem och förmedlar ett militärt ledarskap i förhållande till de två teorierna; dynamiska OODA-loopen och utvecklande ledarskap. Undersökningens resultat pekar på att den svenska doktrinen beskriver hur funktionen ledning ska genomföras för att befrämja uppdragstaktik. Begreppsförvirringen uppstår eftersom den svenska doktrinen beskriver ett hur men inte ett varför eller ett vad ledning ska göra, vilket ger olika beskrivningar av ledning på olika militära ledningsnivåer

Command is one of the six Functions in combat, the role of command is to direct a military action to a common effect by coordinating the military recourses at its disposal and solve a mission. The Swedish doctrine is to establish a framework of understanding in order to create a common language that will promote a mutual understanding. Despite our doctrine the conception of command is indistinct and the purpose of this study is to examine why. The study will illustrate the differences by which the Swedish doctrine and its British counterpart portraits command. By comparing the differences to the theory of a Decision-Action-Cycle and the transformational leadership the common understanding will be measured. The result indicates that command in the Swedish doctrine is not described as a functioning but as to promote Mission command. By describing how command is to promote Mission command it is given several meanings pending on the level of command, thereby an indistinct conception of command

▼ Bad planning has become a standard explanation in the historiography of World War Ifor poor British battlefield performance. Often, poor planning is explicitly charged with being the cause of high casualties and tactical defeats. Rarely though are the failures of the plan identified in detail or with precision and even more rarely do the critics place the alleged failure of the plan into the context of what the plan was, what the limitations on the planners were and why elements of the plan allegedly failed.This thesis examines the process by which a military plan was developed and implemented by the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front in 1916. A battle plan was nothing more than a blueprint for bringing together at the right time and in the right place all the combat elements needed in order to give the attacking infantry the greatest chance of success. British battle planning had no doctrine and no Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide it. At each level of headquarters, planning was driven by different perspectives and requirements, factors seldom exposed in analyses of why battles unfolded the way they did. This study examines the battle planning process vertically, in that it follows the progress of a battle plan from its inception in the strategic designs of the supreme commander down through the various intermediate level commands at operational and tactical headquarters until it becomes the orders that sent the infantry forward into the attack. It does so by analysing the following in the context of a case study of the Battle of Fromelles, 19 July 1916:- Composition and nature of the specialist planning staff;- The strategic level concept and its strategic context;- The operational level plan in the context of the Somme campaign;- The higher or grand tactical plan at the Corps headquarters;- Conversion of the grand tactical plan into a Divisional plan; and- The detail of the Brigade plan to guide the attack.The Battle of Fromelles provided the structure of the study as its small scale enabled the process of the evolution of the plan to be followed, the factors that influenced and occasionally changed the intention or the explicit orders from superior headquarters to be identified and the clear separation of the original intentions and objectives from the eventualoutcomes. Darbo tema aktuali, nes, išanalizavus ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų veikiančių savivaldos komandų poveikį, gerinant vaikų ugdymo proceso kokybę, bus pasiūlyta būdų, kaip aktyviau įtvirtinti reformuojamoje ikimokyklinėje ugdymo įstaigoje savivaldų komandų veiklos naująsias nuostatas. Tyrimo objektas: Vilniaus miesto ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigose veikiančių savivaldos komandų poveikis ugdymo proceso kokybei. Tyrimo problema: nagrinėjama kaip Vilniaus miesto ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigoje veikiančios savivaldos komandos gali turėti poveikį vaikų ugdymo proceso kokybei. ▼ Work motivation prevails when there is alignment between individual and organisational goals. Work motivation also comes into being when achievement of organisational goals is associated with personally desired outcomes, such as a sense of achievement or personal gain. While work performance is dependent on, or limited by, resource availability and worker competencies, the presence of these factors is not sufficient as such, to ensure desired worker performance. This is the reason why companies all over the world consciously include motivating employees as part of their strategies. When a company embarks on strategies to motivate employees without specific goals, those strategies will not be as beneficial to the company, and outcomes may not be as positive as the strategy makers may have hoped for. Specific goals in terms of strategy and performance must be stipulated beforehand and ways to measure the required performance standards should be in place. Employees should be made aware of such efforts and how their performance will be measured. A company that makes an effort to motivate its employees will remain competitive and more productive in the long run. This dissertation seeks to establish whether motivational strategies implemented at Metsimaholo District Hospital have achieved the required results of improving employees' performance. For any company to survive and stay competitive, it is very important that its employees are motivated, because motivated employees in a motivating environment will easily be driven to believe that if they put more effort in performance, their needs will be met. When employees feel their personal needs are met at their workplace, they find fulfilment through performance of their duties. They become productive and the company can achieve its production needs and reach its desired level of service delivery. In its attempt to meet critical employee needs to ensure better performance, Metsimaholo District Hospital has implemented different motivational strategies, which are discussed in this study, namely: Performance Development Management System; Occupational Specific Dispensation; Training; Financial rewards; Supportive management and leadership; and Individual employee locus of control. Feedback received from the empirical investigation shows that the abovementioned motivational factors have an impact on the way employees perform their duties. When implemented correctly, they encourage employees to perform their duties better. On the other hand, if they are not implemented correctly, or are perceived by the employees as not beneficial to them, or as not assisting to meet their personal needs, they can de-motivate employees and negatively affect their performance.

▼ The sacrificing of Isaac, described in Genesis 22, is one of the most troubling stories in Bible. In that story, Abraham was faced with a moral dilemma and compelled to choose between two bad options: to disobey God or to kill his son. Why was Abraham willing to commit the most horrendous thing one can imagine: killing his own child? Did God really ask Abraham for such a sacrifice, and if yes, did he really expect Abraham to obey? Several attempts to explain Abraham’s behavior as well as God’s command have been made. Most often, Abraham is portrayed as a model of faith. God, on the other hand, is usually seen as ”only testing” Abraham, but not really expecting a sacrifice. Many scholars are questioning these interpretations, though. To some of them, Abraham is no more than a criminal, and God a moral monster. In this study, I am taking an analytical approach to existing literature and commentaries on the sacrificing of Isaac. I am describing, classifying and comparing different attempts to resolve the obvious conflict between divine obedience and morality. Since the command to sacrifice Isaac is often regarded as a divine test, I will also examine, what exactly might have been the focus of that test: faith, obedience, fear or something else? I am also referring to some contemporary crime cases to show that sacrificing a child in God’s name doesn’t belong only to history. Thus, contrary to some Bible commentators who claim that nothing similar could happen today, I will show that some people have used the story of Abraham and Isaac as a justification for their pernicious action. Finally, and as the title of my thesis implies, I will propose a ”kaleidoscopic” approach to the story of sacrificing Isaac. Just like an image in a kaleidoscope is prone to change with each new treatment, so is the interpretation of the story. Even more, the story in Genesis 22 is like a Rorschach test: it allows for the viewer to see what she wants to see, and to project her preconceptions of Abraham and God to the troublesome image.

▼ Christian faith turns on the claim that God revealed Himself in Jesus of Nazareth and that he is the Lord and Saviour for all humanity. This exclusive claim raises many questions in a pluralistic and multi-cultural world. In particular it seems to be both excluding and therefore to presuppose various kinds of violence towards others. This research endeavors to address such questions by seeing what can be learned from the Swiss theologian Karl Barth. Barth is a good test case because of his famous Christological concentration. He is often taken as a paradigm ‘exclusivist’. Situating Barth in his historical and intellectual context I shall argue that Barth formulates a Christologically inclusive humanism that addresses the supposed tolerance of Liberal theology, the actual violence of anti Semitism, secularizing understandings of community and the imperial mentality of Western Christendom towards non-Christian religions. By adapting a scripturally informed rationality which is cultivated in the Christian community, Barth expounds (1) a Christologically based tolerance towards non-Christian others (Chapter one); (2) a covenantal understanding of Jewish-Christian solidarity (Chapter two); (3) an ethic of the neighbours which grounds solidarity with poor, marginalized and oppressed communities (Chapter three); (4) a Christological anthropology which respects the irreducible otherness of others (Chapter four); (5) a politics of community which celebrates the community of near and distant neighbours (Chapter five); and, based on the above understandings, (6) a self-critical theology of religion for grounding interfaith encounter (Chapter six). By way of conclusion, I argue that Barth’s theology should not be understood on postmodern lines but that it accentuates the universal in the particular. For this reason, I claim that Barth’s theology, though Christologically based, is capable of contributing to a global responsibility for building a society of love and justice. As a Chinese scholar, I also argue that Barth can contribute to a burgeoning Chinese theological tradition, advancing a Christologically based humanism in a multi-religious and cultural society.

▼ Background The quality of maternal postnatal care is reported to have decreased resulting in maternal deaths (WHO, 2013: 722), with the majority that occurred in sub-Saharan Africa between 2000 and 2008 were as a result of complications that were further exacerbated by the compromised quality of postnatal maternal care particularly between 24-72 hours post-delivery (WHO, 2013: 721). Postnatal care, in the first 72 hours post-delivery, is crucial to the survival of mother (WHO, 2012a:18). Aim/Purpose The purpose of the study was to describe hospital based midwives’ perceptions of their role within maternal postnatal care in a level one hospital in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal in order to improve maternal health outcomes. Methodology Motivated by constructivist paradigm, qualitative approach and descriptive research design were used to describe midwives’ perception of maternal postnatal care role within a level one district hospital, in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal. A two-part sampling process involved convenience sampling for the level one hospital, followed by purposive sampling to select ten registered midwives working in the maternity unit. Through one-on-one interviews, an interview schedule guided an advanced psychiatric nurse to use open ended, probing questions to meet the three objectives. Data saturation was reached after eight interviews. Inductive approach of content analysis was used to analyse the data transcribed from the audio recordings. (Elo and Kyngäs, 2008: 107). Results The following categories and sub-categories emerged which address the objectives of the study. Category 1 ‘care is good…but’ described midwives’ perceptions of their postnatal maternal care knowledge of the national guidelines.(Sub-category A: Yes we know the guidelines) however administrative tasks impacted on time spent with direct patient care (Sub-category B: Paper work vs. Patient). Category 2 ‘(general responsibilities) reflected the midwives’ perceptions of their role in providing postnatal maternal care to mothers to and student midwives (Sub-category A: Teaching and supervision; Sub-category B: Post discharge advice and care; Sub-category C: Midwives responsibilities). Category 3 – described “the other people involved in Postnatal Maternal Care”, such as HIV Counsellors and Social workers and their “Reliance of Support” (Sub-Category A). Category 4 and 5 answer the third objective in describing the factors affecting postnatal care in the level one hospital. ▼ Designing generalized data-driven distance measures for both ordered and unordered set data is the core focus of the proposed work. An ordered set is a set where time-linear property is maintained when distance between pair of temporal segments. One application in the ordered set is the human gesture analysis from RGBD data. Human gestures are fast becoming the natural form of human computer interaction. This serves as a motivation to modeling, analyzing, and recognition of gestures. The large number of gesture categories such as sign language, traffic signals, everyday actions and also subtle cultural variations in gesture classes makes gesture recognition a challenging problem. As part of generalization, an algorithm is proposed as part of an overlap speech detection application for unordered set. Any gesture recognition task involves comparing an incoming or a query gesture against a training set of gestures. Having one or few samples deters any class statistic learning approaches to classification, as the full range of variation is not covered. Due to the large variability in gesture classes, temporally segmenting individual gestures also becomes hard. A matching algorithm in such scenarios needs to be able to handle single sample classes and have the ability to label multiple gestures without temporal segmentation. Each gesture sequence is considered as a class and each class is a data point on an input space. A pair-wise distances pattern between to gesture frame sequences conditioned on a third (anchor) sequence is considered and is referred to as warp vectors. Such a process is defined as conditional distances. At the algorithmic core we have two dynamic time warping processes, one to compute the warp vectors with the anchor sequences and the other to compare these warp vectors. We show that having class dependent distance function can disambiguate classification process where the samples of classes are close to each other. Given a situation where the model base is large (number of classes is also large); the disadvantage of such a distance would be the computational cost. A distributed version combined with sub-sampling anchor gestures is proposed as speedup strategy. In order to label multiple connected gestures in query we use a simultaneous segmentation and recognition matching algorithm called level building algorithm. We use the dynamic programming implementation of the level building algorithm. The core of this algorithm depends on a distance function that compares two gesture sequences. We propose that, we replace this distance function, with the proposed distances. Hence, this version of level building is called as conditional level building (clb). We present results on a large dataset of 8000 RGBD sequences spanning over 200 gesture classes, extracted from the ChaLearn Gesture Challenge dataset. A presente dissertação tem como objetivo endereçar a relação existente entre a formulação teórica em estratégia marítima e o surgimento de paradigmas de desenvolvimento de políticas marítimas diversos, quais sejam de Supremacia Marítima e Segurança Marítima. Nesse sentido, o trabalho discorre sobre a evolução do pensamento estratégico marítimo argumentando que esta evolução do pensamento na conceituação, elaboração e refinamento dos elementos que constituem o Poder Marítimo e a Estratégia Marítima, permitiram a multiplicação de abordagens, e o estabelecimento de paradigmas para a implementação de políticas marítimas diferentes, especificas às necessidades e objetivos dos diferentes atores, que por sua vez, remetem às abordagens conceituais e teóricas. Para isto o trabalho percorre e organiza cronologicamente o desenvolvimento do pensamento em Estratégia Marítima desde o final do século XIX, até a atualidade, definido pelo recorte temporal (1890-2013). Em seu segundo momento o trabalho discorre, através da depuração e análise de casos das formulações políticas marítimas desenvolvidas em uma série definida de países em dois recortes temporais, quais sejam, EUA e URSS na Guerra Fria (1945-1980), e EUA, China e Austrália no pós- Guerra Fria (2000-2013), inferir as relações entre a formulação política empírica e suas raízes conceituais. O trabalho conclui que há uma relação direta entre a implementação de políticas marítimas com autores e conceitos específicos da Estratégia Marítima, sendo possível o estabelecimento de Paradigmas múltiplos para a interpretação e orientação da formulação e desenvolvimento de políticas marítimas.

This dissertation aims to address the relationship between the theoretical formulation in maritime strategy and the development of paradigms for different maritime policies, namely Maritime Supremacy and Maritime Security. In this sense, the work discusses the development of maritime strategic thinking arguing that the evolution of thinking in the conceptualization, development and refinement of the elements that constitute the Sea Power and Maritime Strategy, allowed the proliferation of approaches, and the establishment of paradigms for the implementation different maritime policies for specific needs and objectives of the different stakeholders, which in turn, refer to the conceptual and theoretical approaches. To do that, this essay studies and chronologically organizes the development of the maritime strategy thinking since the late nineteenth century to the present, defined by the time frame (1890-2013) . On a second part the paper discusses, through case analysis of maritime policy formulations developed in a defined number of countries in two time frames, namely , the U.S. and USSR during the Cold War (1945-1980) , and the U.S., China and Australia in the post-Cold War scenario (2000-2013), to infer the relationships between empirical policy formulation and its conceptual roots. ▼ Heidegger says on the beginning of his book: The Rule of the Ground: The Rule of the Ground is: Nihil est sine ratione. We translate: Nothing is without Ground. This is the starting point of the reseaerch: To reseaerch the setting of the Ground by Parmenides and Plato, then to compare the setting of the Ground by both. In the chapter II, the problem of the Being and the relation between things and Being by Parmenides will be discussed. The author agree with the viewpoint by Fink that, the sense world is not false. What false is, is the illusion of the human beings. In the chapter III, the first part of the Parmenides will be discussed. The central theme of this part is the problem of Chorismos. This problem is the beginning of Plato’s critique on himself in his later life. The locus classicus of Chorismos stands on 130b1-5. The key point of this dissertation is in the chapter IV on the second part of the Parmenides. The most difficult problem lies on the interpretation for the 1. Position. Three different directions of the interpretation will be selected: 1. The negativ criticism, 2. The Neoplatonism, 3. The third road. The negativ criticism takes the metaphysics as invalid. Therefore, it evaluates the 1. Position as false or minor important. The Neoplatonism takes it as the climax of the platonic metaphysics, in the meaning of the Transcendence of HEN, and evaluates it very high. The third road of the interpretation must at the same time confirm the transcendent ideas on the side beyond, and the things on this side (generation and decay). HEN and AORISTOS DYAS are the ARCHE in Plato’s metaphysics. HEN is ARCHE of all, including AORISTOS DYAS. AORISTOS DYAS is the ARCHE of the sensible things. Plato’s world of Being has a figure like pyramide. On the top of it stands the HEN, which is the real princip. Through the AORISTOS DYAS all can be generated. The author describes the process, in which the HEN from his absolute status on the side beyond (EPEKEINA tes OUSIAS) to his showing up in this world as phaenomenology of HEN. The Sophistes handles the problem of Being under the involving of MEGISTA GENE and SYMPLOKE ton EIDON, in order to describe the process of generation (GENESIS eis OUSIAN). The both dialogues together build the genealogy of Plato. The introduction of MEGISTA GENE and SYMPLOKE ton EIDON is the demonstration of the modes of function by AORISTOS DYAS. This is why this dissertation handles the both dialogues. Parmenides decision, the EON is, remembers on Heidegger’s idiom: We must know, we will know. Only with such decision can the ON (by Parmenides and Heidegger) and HEN (by Plato) be known. Parmenides enlightens the Being in the mode of looking; Plato shows the HEN with dialectical and at the same time unified method. The knowing is possible, so far the Being is, and it is indeed, because the HEN always is. Krožna križišča so danes prepoznana kot tip nivojskega križišča, ki ob relativno visoki kapaciteti oz. prepustnosti zagotavljajo višji nivo prometne varnosti v primerjavi z drugimi tipi nivojskih križišč. Eden od pomembnejših korakov pri načrtovanju krožnega križišča je izbira ustrezne velikosti krožnega križišča, oblikovanje uvoznih in izvoznih radijev ter kotov krakov in sredinskih ločilnih otokov, ki voznika »vodijo« in mu tudi »nakazujejo« izbrano smer/način vožnje skozi krožno križišče. V kolikor je krožno križišče nepravilno oblikovano (npr. premajhna defleksija), lahko prihaja do »vožnje naravnost« pri višjih hitrostih, kot je zaželeno. Posledično lahko pride do poslabšanja prometne varnosti (večja verjetnost nastanka konfliktov) ter tudi do zmanjšanja kapacitete (večje, kot so hitrosti na enem uvozu, večje so povprečne zamude vozil na naslednjih uvozih). V magistrski nalogi smo na primerih enopasovnih krožnih križišč, na državnem cestnem omrežju v Sloveniji, preverili prevozne hitrosti za različne oblike enopasovnih krožnih križišč, z različnimi geometrijskimi elementi. V krožnih križiščih smo z namenom pridobiti čim bolj natančne rezultate meritve hitrosti opravljali v petih prerezih (pred, na uvozu, v srednjem delu, na izvozu in za krožnim križiščem). Z rezultati meritev smo poskušali potrditi zastavljeno hipotezo, da velikosti in sosledje geometrijskih elementov enopasovnega krožnega križišča vplivajo na prevozne hitrosti. Dobljeni rezultati so pokazali, da imata na prevozno hitrost največji vpliv vpadni kot in kot defleksije, medtem ko ostali geometrijski elementi nimajo bistvenega vpliva. Eden izmed glavnih prispevkov magistrske naloge je napotek projektantu, da na podlagi kota defleksije in vpadnega kota, ki imata največji vpliv, preveri pričakovano hitrost v krožnem križišču.

One of the most important steps in the design process of the roundabout is the choice of the size; angle and radius on entry and exit legs of the roundabout. The splitter islands lead driver and also "suggest" the chosen direction and the form of way that drivers follow through the roundabout. If the roundabout is not well designed (too small deflexion); there is a greater chance of a »straight ahead« maneuver at higher speed than is desirable. This might result in a deterioration of road safety (increase of conflict); as well as a decrease in capacity (the greater the speed of a single entry; the larger the average delay of vehicles on next entrypoints). De teoretiska grundstenarna för en <em>framgångsrik ledning </em>beror bl.a. på koordinationen mellan svensk forskning inom det ledningsvetenskapliga området och Försvarsmaktens doktrinära utveckling. Inom den ledningsvetenskapliga forskningen pågår utveckling av en teoretisk modell, den dynamiska OODA-loopen, syftande till att ta fram utåt- och inåtriktade funktioner inom ledning. Försvarsmakten genomför f.n. en utveckling av den Militärstrategiska doktrinen till att bli mer användbar och koordinerad i takt med en förändrad omvärld. Studiens syfte är att kartlägga om den doktrinära utvecklingen följt med forskningen inom ledningsvetenskapen och skapa en ökad förståelse samt medvetenhet för vad som krävs av den Militärstrategiska doktrinen för att uppnå en framgångsrik ledning. Resultatet visar på en positiv utveckling inom ett antal områden; miljön där militära effekter ska uppnås och underliggande beskrivningar som behandlar intentionen och förståelsen för själva uppdraget. Vidare visar studien på behovet av fortsatt doktrinär utveckling av området ledning i nära samarbete med svensk forskningen inom området.

The theoretical principle for successful command and control depends on such elements as the factor of coordination between Swedish research within command and control science and the development of the Swedish Armed Forces doctrine. The ongoing Swedish research within command and control science has created a generic model, the dynamic OODA-loop. The dynamic OODA-loop presents two major key aspects for command and control, the outer and the inner system and how they interface. Furthermore, the Swedish Armed Forces is in a developmental process of the Military Strategic Doctrine. The purpose of the development is to adjust the doctrine to be more useful within the Armed Forces and to describe the ongoing changes in a dynamic and complex environment. The purpose of this study is to identify if the development of the doctrine has been guided by the latest research within command and control science. The purpose is also to get a deeper understanding and awareness in order to meet the demands leading to a successful command and control within the military strategic doctrine. The study shows a positive doctrinal development in a number of areas such as; the environment where military effects will take action and attach descriptions concerning the intent and the understanding of a mission. It also shows the need for a continued doctrinal development within command and control in close cooperation within the areas of Swedish research.

The legal consequences of a divorce by the fault of one spouse Family is the basis of our society and our state. This provision is established in the first part of the thirty-eighth particle of the Constitution of Lithuania. The role that is emphasized in such way is subsumed to the family as natural and main group of society, which secures the stability of society and country. Divorce is one of the institutes of Family Law. Proper legal regulation of divorce is very important, because it allows to warrant the security of personal freedom, the defense of conscientious spouse rights, it allows to reduce the number of legal issues and can influence the stability of the family. When in 2005-07-01 the new Civil code of Lithuanian Republic came into force the juridical regulation of conjugality abatement has changed, because it consolidates a lot of innovations. ▼ Military command is the single most important factor in the conduct of warfare. To understand war and military success and failure, historians need to explore command structures and the relationships between commanders. In World War I, a new level of higher command had emerged: the corps commander. Between 1914 and 1918, the role of corps commanders and the demands placed upon them constantly changed as experiences brought illumination and insight. Yet the men who occupied these positions were sometimes unable to cope with the changing circumstances and the many significant limitations which were imposed upon them. Of the World War I corps commanders, William Birdwood was one of the longest serving. From the time of his appointment in December 1914 until May 1918, Birdwood acquired an experience of corps command which was perhaps more diverse than his contemporaries during this time. He is, then, an ideal subject for a prolonged assessment of this level of command. This thesis has two principal objectives. The first is to identify and assess those factors which limited Birdwood’s capacity and ability to command. The second is to explore the institutional constraints placed on corps commanders during the 1914-1918 war. Surprisingly, this is a comparatively barren area of research. Because very few officers spent much time as corps commanders on their way to higher command appointments and because the role of the corps commanders in military planning and in the conduct of operations was not immediately apparent, their role has been practically ignored. Historians have tended to concentrate on the Army and divisional levels creating a deficient view of higher military command in World War I. However, corps commanders could and did play an important part in planning operations and in military affairs generally. Birdwood’s experience at Gallipoli and in France reflect some of the changes to command structures that were prompted by the successes and failures of operations directed at the corps level. In as much as these two theatres of war were vastly different and Birdwood was confronted with dissimilar problems, it is possible to draw some general conclusions about the evolution of higher command after 1914. Using a wide range of primary and secondary sources located in Australian and British archives, this thesis traces Birdwood’s career as a corps commander at Gallipoli and on the Western Front. It also examines his tenure as G.O.C. of the A.I.F.

▼ In the first chapter of my dissertation, I use a new approach to investigating behavior in one-shot normal-form games. Using subjects' play as well as their stated beliefs about their opponent's play, I study two fundamental dimensions of behavior. The first dimension is whether subjects are naive (do not consider what their opponent might do) or strategic (consider what their opponent might do). The second dimension is whether subjects' behavior is better captured by risk neutrality or by risk aversion. In treatment A, subjects (graduate students at OSU) play the games without interference from belief elicitation (beliefs are elicited after all games have been played). I find that (i) only a small minority of subjects is naive, and (ii) the majority of subjects is risk averse. However, these results are not robust to changing the games or the subject population (from graduate to undergraduate students). Some interesting comparative statics emerge by manipulating treatment A. Most notably, when subjects are explicitly prompted to state beliefs while playing the games (treatment B), then (iii) naive subjects all but disappear, and (iv) the proportion of risk averse subjects decreases dramatically relative to treatment A. A possible explanation for the latter is that seemingly risk averse behavior is actually driven by ambiguity aversion. The second chapter of my dissertation investigates experimentally behavior in a dynamic investment game in which players receive two-dimensional signals and timing of investment is endogenous. In an experiment with two-player markets, investment is higher and profits are lower than in Nash equilibrium. The study separately considers whether a subject draws inferences from the other subject's investment, in hindsight, and whether a subject has the foresight to delay profitable investment and learn from market activity. In contrast to Nash equilibrium, cursed equilibrium, and level-k model predictions, behavior remains the same across the experimental treatments. Maximum likelihood estimates are inconsistent with belief-based theories, but are consistent with the notion that subjects use simple rules of thumb, based on insights about the game. This motif is from the promise of God about the eschatological Prophet who will disclose God’s will to the people in Dt 18:15, 18. The background of this motif is basically to be found in Dt 18:15, 18. The promise of God about this Prophet has a deep relationship with the Word of God. The reason, firstly, is that Dt 18:15, 18 indicates it. Secondly, the definition of a prophet is not a miracle worker or a soothsayer, but the deliverer of the Word of God. It is also used in the OT. Various people (Elijah, Jeremiah, Isaiah and Ezekiel) used the prophetic fomula of Dt 18:15, 18. The next step to study this motif is to find allustions to Dt 18:15, 18 in John’s Gospel. It can be divided into two groups. The one group is concerned with the word “prophet” that might presume “the Prophet like Moses” (Jn 1:21, 25, 45, 5:46, 6:14, 7:40, and 52). The other is concerned with the prophetic formula that was related to the Word of God (Jn 3:34, 5:19, 30, 8:26, 28, 40, 12:49, 14:10, 31, 16:13, 17:8, and 17:14). These allusions indicate that this motif is related to several Christological titles (the Christ, the Logos, the Son of God). The Christ was used in juxtaposition with the Prophet in John’s Gospel. The concept of the Christ is joined to the concept of the Prophet. In the case of the Logos, Jesus is the perfect “Prophet like Moses”, because he is a deliverer of the Word of God as well as the Word of God himself. In the case of the Son of God, Jesus knows the Father face to face like Moses, but perfectly, because the Son and the Father is one in John’s Gospel. John uses the motif of “the Prophet like Moses” in Dt 18:15, 18 as the connecting link between the Christological titles. The reason is firstly that it is the Prophet promised by God. Secondly, in the history of redemption, many people expected this Prophet. Lastly in Jesus’ era, this Prophet was considered to be the eschatological figure who would clarify the Son’s coming into the world as the Word of God.
