Previous studies have shown that the application of High Frequency Alternating Currentto nerve fibers results in a reversible quick acting conduction block. The commercialization pathway for the application of HFAC technology to treat chronic postsurgical pain in patients has been explored. The technical portion of the thesis provides a general overview of the nervous system, mechanism of pain, neuromodulation and its therapeutic application as well as a detailed explanation of the HFAC technology. Thebusiness portion of the thesis explores the commercial feasibility of the technology against market, competitive landscape, FDA regulatory pathway, reimbursement, intellectual property, financing required and potential exit strategies.
