1. Beaton, Paul. Exploring the role of Context in young adults’ drinking motives.

Degree: School of Psychology, 2014, Deakin University

Drinking motives are a good way to understand risky drinking in young people. Past research considers drinking motives to be stable aspects of a person’s personality, however the current research demonstrated across three unique studies, that motives are quite context specific. This new development greatly improves the way we model risk. Advisors/Committee Members: Richardson, Ben, Staiger Petra.

Subjects/Keywords: young adults; alcohol use; risky drinking; drinking context; motivational pathways
