Detta examensarbete syftar till att implementera en modulgenerator som automatiskt genererar ett matchat differentialpar. Detta för att enkelt kunna generera detta vanlig förekommande byggblock utan att behöva rita om allt från grunden. Modulgeneratorn som konstruerats klarar att skapa upp till 2x2 transistor block matchad layout med eller utan sköld. Programmet skapar med hjälp av indata från konstruktören en skräddarsydd layout som kan användas som byggblock i integrerade kretsar. Examensarbetet är slutfört och har genomgått omfattande testning The aim of this thesis is to implement a module generator that automatically generates a matched differential pair. That is, to easily create new pairs without having to draw everything from scratch. The module generator is able to create matched layouts with up to 2x2 transistor blocks with or without a guard-ring. The program uses a number of input parameters from the user to customize the layout. Hence, the generated blocks can be used in a large range of analog integrated circuits.

För att snabba upp addering av tal, vilket är en vital del inom signalbehandling finns olika algoritmer. En sådan algoritm är Brent Kungs vilken har en tidsfördröjning proportionell mot log2(N). I rapporten jämförs några olika varianter av adderare med avseende på grinddjup, vilket är proportionelltmot propageringstiden. En modulgenerator för Brent Kung-adderare implementeras med Skill-kod i Cadence. Modulgeneratorn kan genera adderare av obegränsad ordlängd och är även teknologi oberoende. Brent Kung-adderarens fysiska begränsningar studeras och förslag ges på lämpliga förbättringar.

To speed up the addition of numbers, which is a vital part of signal processing there are different types of algorithms. One of those algorithms is the Brent Kung-adder, which has a time delay proportional to log2(N). In the report comparison of different adders has been done, taking into account grind-depth which is proportional to the propagation time. A module generator for the Brent Kung adder is implemented with skill-code in the program Cadence. The module generator can generate adders of infinite word length and is independent of the technology used. The physical limitations of Brent Kung adders are being studied and proposals for improvements are given in the report.

I digitala kretsar kan både bit-parallella och bit-seriella interface förekomma.T ex kan en integrerad digital krets (IC-krets) internt använda sig av bit-parallella aritmetiska kretsar medan dess kommunikation med andra integrerade kretsar sker bit-seriellt. Genom att använda seriell kommunikation mellan IC-kretsar kan antalet ben på kapslarna effektivt begränsas. Detta examensarbete gick ut på att göra en layoutgenerator för generering av en parametriserbar serie/parallellomvandlare och en parallell/serieomvandlare. När en krets använder sig av både bit-seriell och bit-parallell representation av data behövs dessa för att omvandla mellan formaten.

In digital circuits both bit-parallel and bit-serial interfaces can occur. For example, an integrated digital circuit can use bit-parallel arithmetic circuits internally while its communication with other integrated circuits is bit serial. By using serial communication between IC:s the number of pins on the packages can be effectively limited. The purpose of this final project work was to create a layout generator for generation of a parametrizable serial/parallel converter and a parallel/serial converter. If a circuit uses both bit-serial and bit-parallel representation of data these are needed to convert between the formats.
