Urbanistickým konceptem bylo vytvořit propojení příjemným způsobem s městem na východ od zadaného pozemku. Městské lázně jsem pojala jako opravdové lázně s lázeňskými procedurami – rašelinovými (slatinnými) koupelemi a zábaly; dále vodoléčbou; ale zároveň i jako místo pro rekreaci a relax. Tvar objektu hmotově naznačuje zkosené písmeno U; kde vnitřní prostor je veřejně přístupný. Recepcí je možné vejít do areálu lázní; nebo projít do veřejného prostoru náměstí s jednotlivými obchody v přízemí na jedné straně budovy a na druhé s prosklenou fasádou areálu lázní. Náměstí je klidné a nabízí možný průchod skrz celé území Starého Brna příjemným prostředím. Budova je dispozičně rozdělena na dvě části. Jedna je pronajímatelná pro obchody a služby. Tato funkce sahá přes dvě patra. Ve třetím patře jsou pronajímatelné plochy lékařských ordinací; rehabilitace a zázemí pro cvičení skupin; služby s funkcí zdraví a péče o tělo a mysl. Druhá část objektu je tvořena areálem lázní. Jediným vchodem z recepce; která obě části rozděluje; jsou vstupy do šaten; které tvoří filtr; jak pro kontrolu; tak i pro čistotu. Z šaten se dostaneme do otevřeného půdorysu s jednotlivými funkcemi (vodoléčba; slatinné koupele; sauna; pára a další); který sahá do stejné výšky jako dvě patra obchodů. Jsou zde totiž umístěny solné zdi a lehátka; která dohromady se solnými zdmi vytváří příjemná zákoutí k odpočinku. Prostor tak tvoří obří „solnou jeskyni“ pro kvalitní a příjemný vzduch. Ve druhém; technicky třetím podlaží areálu lázní najdeme whirlpooly; bazény; jak vnitřní; tak i venkovní bazén s terasou; masérny; pronajímatelnou saunu a páru; whirlpooly specifických funkcí; opět odpočívárny tvořené zákoutími lehátek a příčkami ze soli. V tomto podlaží je možné také vnitřní bazén se zázemím šaten plně uzavřít k soukromým akcím. Ve dvou podzemních podlažích se nachází parkování o celkové kapacitě 172 stání. Hlavní povrch tvoří černý a krémově bílý mramor. Na vnějších zdech je mramor leštěný; na vnitřních zdech v areálu lázní je matný. Tento luxusní materiál je doplněn krémovou keramickou velkoformátovou dlažbou v interiéru; velikými prosklenými plochami a příčkami z lámané soli; které dotváří specifickou atmosféru. Technologické rozvody pod stropy jsou zakryty sádrokartonovými podhledy s výjimkou parkovacích podlaží; kde jsou instalace vedeny volně pod stropem. Nosná obvodová stěna je navržena z vápenopískových bloků; systém jinak monolitický železobetonový skelet. Stejně tak vnitřní příčky jsou tvořeny vápenopískovými bloky s mramorovým obkladem. Okenní otvory jsou osazeny do hliníkových rámu Schueco v tmavé antracitové barvě. Hlavní schodiště v lázních je železobetonové.; Territory is located in the District of Pisárky. One is leaseable for shops and services. This feature extends over two floors. In the third floor are leaseable areas of medical practice; rehabilitation and support services for exercise groups; with the health and care of the body and mind. The second part of the object is made up of Club Spa. The only entrance on reception; which separates the two parts are inputs into changing rooms that make up the filter; both the control and purity. From changing rooms is an open floor plan with the individual features (hydrotherapy; peat bath; sauna; steam room and more); which goes back to the same height as the two floors of shops. There are indeed placed salt walls and sunbeds; which together with the salt walls creates a pleasant place to relax. Space is a giant "salty cave" for high quality and pleasant air. In the second; third floor; the baths of sophisticated features whirlpooly; swimming pools; both indoor and outdoor pool with terrace; masseurs; leaseable sauna and steam; whirlpooly-specific features; again rest rooms consisting of frills bunks and bars of salt. In this deck is also an indoor pool with changing rooms fully close the private actions. In two ground floors; parking on the total capacity of 172. The main surface is black and cream-white marble. On the external walls; marble polished; internal walls in a matte. This luxury material is accompanied by a large format perfect ceramics tile in the Interior; large glass surfaces and the bars of the smattering salt which musicians. Technological divorce under the ceilings are covered with pasterboard ceilings except parking deck; where installation is kept loose under the ceiling. A perimeter wall is designed from gange-sand blocks; otherwise a monolithic system consist of skeleton. As well as internal splitter are gange-sand blocks with marble coating. The window openings are fitted with aluminium frame Schueco in a dark metallic colour. The main staircase at the steel cocrete.

▼ This thesis is concerned with the theoretical and practical development of a surface-based mapping algorithm for reliable and robust localization and mapping in prior unknown and unstructured environments. A surface-based map consists of a set of compressed surfaces, processed and represented without geometrical modelling. Each surface in the surface-based map represents an object in the environment. The ability to represent the exact shapes of objects via individual surfaces during the mapping process makes the surface-based mapping algorithm valuable in a number of navigation applications, such as mapping of prior unknown indoor and outdoor unstructured environments, target tracking, path planning and collision avoidance. The ability to unify representations of the same object taken from different viewpoints into a single surface makes the algorithm capable of working in multi-robot mapping applications. A surface-based map of the environment is build incrementally by acquiring the 3D range image of the scene, extracting the objects' surfaces from the 3D range image, aligning the set of extracted surfaces relative to the map and unifying the aligned set of surfaces with surfaces in the map. In the surface unification process the surfaces representing the same object are unified to make a single surface. The thesis introduces the following new methods which are used in the surface-based mapping algorithm: the extraction of surfaces from 3D range images based on a scanned surface continuity check; homogenization of the representation of the non-homogenously sampled surfaces; the alignment of the surface set relative to a large set of surfaces based on surface-based alignment algorithm; evaluating the correspondence between two surfaces based on the overlap area between surfaces; unification of the two surfaces belonging to the same object; and surface unification for a large set of surfaces. The theoretical contributions of this thesis are demonstrated with a series of practical implementations in different outdoor environments.

Cette thèse porte sur l'analyse de la singularité d'un manipulateur plan pour l'application d'une XY-Théta plate-forme. Cette plate-forme possède une cinématique brevetée, conçue pour garder l’erreur finale de position en dessous de 2mμ dans son espace de travail de dimensions 300 mm × 300 mm. Ces performances de haute précision s'expliquent par la proximité des singularités. Certains inconvénients peuvent survenir lorsque la trajectoire se rapproche des singularités, notamment si une vitesse articulaire élevée est atteinte. Par conséquent, l'objectif principal de cette thèse est d'identifier les lieux des singularités. Habituellement, quand un robot non-redondant se déplace dans un espace à trois dimensions, le lieu de singularité est défini par une surface. Une contribution majeure de ce travail de thèse réside dans l'identification d'une ligne hélicoïdale pour définir le lieu de la singularité au sein de l'espace de travail. Une autre partie du travail réalisé a consisté à prendre en compte la redondance du robot à identifier les lieux des singularités et dans ce cas à analyser les problèmes de contrôle liés à la traversée de surfaces de singularités. En dernier lieu, une attention a été portée sur l'indice de maniabilité afin d'évaluer la distance entre le manipulateur et la singularité.

This thesis deals with the singularity analysis of a planar robotic manipulator for the application of an XY-Theta platform. This XY-Theta platform has a patented kinematics designed to keep the final position error below 2 μm in its 300 mm × 300 mm workspace. But as the high precision performances are due to the proximity of singularities, some drawbacksmay also appear when the trajectory is too close to singularities, such as large joint velocities, high forces and torques. Therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to identify the singularity loci. Usually, when a non-redundant robot operates in a 3D space, the singularity locus is represented by a surface. Here, one contribution is the identification of an helicoidal line for the singularity locus within the workspace. Another contribution is to take into account the redundancy of the robot, identify the singularity loci in this case and analyze the control problems linked to the crossing of singularity surfaces. Finally, the manipulability index is calculated to show how far the manipulator is from the singularity configuration.

▼ Heterogeneous Catalysis plays an extremely important role in the world. Metal particles supported on oxide supports are the most widely employed heterogeneous catalysts. In order to provide insight into the development of new catalytic materials, a fundamental understanding of surface reactions is required. Vapor-deposited metal clusters on single-crystal surfaces are well-defined systems that can be used to understand the structure-relationships in commercial catalysts. The pressure gap between fundamental surface analysis under ultra-high vacuum (UHV, P~10-10 Torr) conditions and kinetic evaluation of catalysts under realistic pressures has been bridged by constructing a micro-reactor interfaced with UHV chamber: pre- and post-reaction surfaces can be examined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) without exposing the sample to air. The performance of this micro-reactor has been verified by reproducing kinetic parameters for CO oxidation on Pt/TiO2 (110). Pt-Re systems were studied in order to understand the nature of the enhanced bimetallic activity for oxidation reactions and the water gas shift (WGS) reaction. Model Pt-Re catalysts were prepared by sequential deposition of Pt and Re on a rutile TiO2 (110) support. Active sites on the Pt-Re bimetallic clusters were investigated by temperature programmed desorption (TPD) using CO and methanol as probe molecules. At room temperature, Re on top of Pt can diffuse into Pt clusters in a kinetically limited process, and the surface composition of Re can be controlled by varying the Re coverage. Lattice oxygen participates in the recombination of dissociated CO and promotes CO2 formation on bimetallic surfaces. In methanol oxidation reactions on Pt-Re surface alloys, higher long-term activity is observed for Pt-Re compared to Pt because less carbonaceous deposits are formed on the alloy surface. However, surface Re is unstable due to formation and subsequent sublimation of Re2O7. For the WGS reaction, bimetallic surfaces consisting of Pt on Re have higher activity than pure Pt, while Re alone has no activity. Furthermore, XPS studies show that the active species for WGS is metallic Re rather than Re oxides. Advisors/Committee Members: Donna A. Chen.

Phase shifts have occurred on tropical reefs throughout the world. In Hawaii, phase shifts have been attributed to eutrophication, herbivore reduction, and alien algae. The first study from this dissertation examines the environmental relationships of Submarine Groundwater Discharge (SGD), a likely source of anthropogenic nutrients to Hawaii‟s reefs. The second study analyzes the relative and simultaneous effects of nutrient enrichment and reduced herbivory on algal succession in contrast to control conditions. The third study assesses the potential of indigenous herbivorous fish to control alien algae. The fine scale salinity profiles in the first study established differences between the average salinity values of three sample events, and correlations between SGD and low tide and, SGD and depth. Water quality samples displayed correlations with SGD and concentrations of numerous chemical constituents. Nitrate from water quality samples at Waiopae were up to 3.8 times greater than samples from upland wells suggesting that anthropogenic sources of nitrate are intruding the aquifer. This study exemplifies the dynamics of SGD and nutrient intrusion. Results from the second study in Kealakekua Bay show that the effects of nutrient enrichment were minor, herbivore reduction were considerable, and nutrient enrichment combined with herbivore reduction were major in governing algal biomass and cover. Coralline crustose algae dominated surfaces under control and nutrient enrichment. In herbivore reduction treatments turf algae dominated. Nutrient enrichment had a greater effect at one site, and herbivore reduction had a greater effect at another site, demonstrating that a single solution may not be equally effective for all Hawaiian reefs. Feeding assays from the third study documented that two herbivorous fish species were potential biological control agents for managing alien algae. These fish can achieve different objectives in an effort to manage alien algae. Acanthurus triostegus is suited to control attached populations, Kyphosus vaigiensis is crucial in reducing dispersal by fragments. Results from this dissertation show that nutrient concentrations enter the near shore environment quite rapidly on Hawaii. With sustainable land use practices and increasing herbivore pressure by enhancing select herbivore species, we can improve the resilience of Hawaiian reefs and minimize the possibility of phase shifts.

The principle of relativistic geometry is used to compare the inversion as a quadratic transformation in the plane with its spatial presentation in the form of two stereographic projections: from a `plane` onto a sphere and from the sphere back onto the same `plane` (from the antipodal centre of projection). Both the classical and the relativistic interpretations are presented. Different types of conic symmetry are analysed, conformal (axial and point symmetry) and non-conformal. Harmonic symmetry, which is a completely bijective and conformal central inversion, is used to present the transformation of all types of pencils of conics and their specific features into the pencils of curves of the 3rd and 4th order and their mapped specific features and vice versa. The basic transformation is inversion which is interpreted in two ways: as a quadratic transformation in the classical projective geometry and as a pure symmetry in the relativistic geometry, with constant comparison of the two geometric systems and their opportunities for explications and generalizations. A pencil of curves of the 4th order obtained by inverting the pencil of quadric cut by a `plane` into a pencil of equivalent surfaces of the 4th order cut by the same `plane` is further presented. The recognition of the equivalence of inversion with the classical axial symmetry (non-conformal symmetry) has created numerous possibilities for mapping curves and surfaces and obtaining new forms which can be of great use both in the theory of geometry and in the practice of architecture. The research in the field of expanded symmetry will greatly widen the scope of further discoveries about the plane and surface forms. The projection model was used to create the Lisp routine and the AutoCAD software was used for the purposes of computer drawing the pencils of conics, pencils of curves of the 3rd and 4th order and generating and presenting the spatial models of the surfaces.

Korišćenjem principa relativističke geometrije, inverzija kao kvadratna transformaciju u ravni upoređena je sa njenim prostornim izvođenjem u vidu dva stereografska projektovanja, sa "ravni" na sferu i sa sfere na istu "ravan" (iz antipodnog centra projiciranja). Dato je klasično i relativističko tumačenje. Analizirani su takođe različiti tipovi simetrija konike, konformna (osna i centralna) i nekonformna. Harmonijskom simetrijom, kao potpuno bijektivnom i konformnom centralnom inverzijom, prikazana je transformacija svih šest tipova pramenova konika i njihovih specifičnosti u pramenove krivih trećeg i četvrtog reda i njihove preslikane specifičnosti, i obrnuto. Osnovna transformacija je inverzija, pri čemu je ona tumačena na dva načina: kao kvadratna transformacija u klasičnoj projektivnoj geometriji i kao čista simetrija u relativističkoj geometriji, sa stalnim povlačenjem paralela između dva geometrijska sistema i njihovim mogućnostima eksplikacije i generalizacije. Географија - Геопросторне основе животне средине / Geography - Geospatial and Environmental Science

Предмет истраживања докторске дисертације је геопросторни аспект комуналне хигијене и проблеми који постоје у заштити и унапређењу квалитета животне средине на јавним површинама у градском насељу Београд. Коришћена методологија може бити примењена и за друга градска насеља у Републици Србији. Осим сагледавања институционалног оквира (хијерархијски нивои власти у држави, органи Градске управе Града Београда, надлежне институције, предузећа и др.), дат је преглед надлежности јединице локалне самоуправе и законски и стратешки оквир управљања животном средином и комуналном хигијеном, као и природно-географске и социоекономске карактеристике градског насеља Београд. Анализирани су квалитет медијума животне средине (вода, ваздух, земљиште, итд.) и фактори који утичу на њихов квалитет, као и пројекти и активности који ће у наредном периоду унапредити комунално-хигијенске услове у појединим деловима града. Појединачно су анализирани комунално-хигијенски проблеми на јавним површинама и наведене су препоруке за њихово ублажавање или потпуно уклањање, док су кроз посебна поглавља анализирани комунално- хигијенски проблеми градског зеленила и управљања отпадом. Предлог интегралног модела управљања комуналном хигијеном на територији градског насеља Београд који је дат у дисертацији, представља комплексан и интердисциплинаран приступ (мере, поступци и др.) решавању конкретних комунално-хигијенских проблема у систему заштитите животне средине, информационог система, политике, економије и техничко-технолошких решења.

Das grandes barragens a nível mundial, as barragens de aterro são as mais comuns. No que respeita os fenómenos que desencadeiam a rotura, no caso particular das barragens de aterro, o “galgamento” é a segunda causa mais comum. Os eventos de rotura de barragens representam um elevado risco para as populações e bens nas zonas de inundação. Em particular, a rotura de barragens de aterro pode originar escoamentos geomórficos de elevada magnitude, podendo causar impactos significativos nos vales a jusante. Têm-se realizado diversos estudos laboratoriais acerca da rotura por galgamento de barragens de aterro que têm produzido informações úteis para a validação de modelos numéricos, mas que falharam na produção de informação fenomenológica detalhada da morfologia da brecha. Desta forma, estas falhas só conseguirão ser reduzidasaprofundando o conhecimento dos mecanismos envolvidos na evolução temporal da brecha, particularmente no que respeita a compreensão dos fenómenos geotécnicos envolvidos e da sua interação com os fenómenos de erosão hidrodinâmica. Foi neste contexto que surgiu este trabalho final de mestrado tendo como objetivo principal a realização e análise de três ensaios experimentais, em condições hidráulicas e geotécnicas controladas. Os ensaios experimentais permitiram extrair as seguintes variáveis: i) hidrogramas efluentes da brecha; ii) variação do campo de velocidades do escoamento superficial;iii) avaliação da variação da largura da brecha durante a ocorrência de episódios de erosão geotécnica (queda de grandes massas de solo do corpo da barragem); e iv) morfologia da brecha durante a rotura (com auxílio de um sensor de movimento - Kinect Sensor). As variáveis recolhidas permitiram, para além da caracterização dos hidrogramas efluentes da barragem, compreender a relação entre a hidrodinâmica do escoamento e a morfologia da brecha durante a ocorrência de episódios de erosão geotécnica. Permitiram igualmente, perceber a resposta do hidrograma efluente da brecha à ocorrência destes episódios. Desta forma esta tese foi uma contribuição para o aumento da capacidade de prever a evolução de uma brecha em barragens de aterro, ou seja, para estimar com mais rigor o hidrograma efluente da brecha.

This work is devoted to understanding the formation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) on curved surfaces as a function of lipid properties such as headgroup charge/charge density and alkyl chain length, and nanoparticle properties such as size and surface characteristics. In particular, the formation of SLBs on curved surfaces was studied by varying the size of the underlying substrate SiO2 nanoparticles with size range from 5-100 nm. Curvature-dependent shift in the phase transition behavior of these supported lipid bilayers was observed for the first time. We found that the phase transition temperature, Tm of the SLBs first decreased with decreasing the size of the underlying support, reached a minimum, and then increased when the size of the particles became comparable with the dimensions of the lipid bilayer thickness; the Tm was above that of the multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) of the same lipids. The increase in Tm indicated a stiffening of the supported bilayer, which was confirmed by Raman spectroscopic data. Moreover, Raman data showed better lipid packing and increased lateral order and trans conformation for the SLBs with increasing the curvature of the underlying support and decrease of the gauche kinks for the terminal methyl groups at the center of the bilayer. These results were consistent with a model in which the high free volume and increased outer headgroup spacing of lipids on highly curved surfaces induced interdigitation in the supported lipids. These results also support the symmetric lipid exchange studies of the SLBs as a function of the curvature, which was found to be slower on surfaces with higher curvature. Further, the effect of surface properties on the formation of SLBs was studied by changing the silanol density on the surface of SiO2 via thermal/chemical treatment and monitoring fusion of zwitterionic lipids onto silica (SiO2) nanoparticles. Our findings showed that the formation of SLBs was faster on the surfaces with lower silanol density and concomitantly less bound water compared to surfaces with higher silanol density and more bound water. Since the two SiO2 nanoparticles were similar in other respects, in particular their size and charge (ionization), as determined by zeta potential measurements, differences in electrostatic interactions between the neutral DMPC and SiO2 could not account for the difference. Therefore the slower rate of SLB formation of DMPC onto SiO2 nanoparticles with higher silanol densities and more bound water was attributed to greater hydration repulsion of the more hydrated nanoparticles. Lastly, we have investigated the effect and modulation of the surface charge of vesicles on the formation of SLBs by using different ratios of zwitterionic and cationic DMPC/DMTAP lipids. Through these studies we discovered a procedure by which assemblies of supported lipid bilayer nanoparticles, composed of DMPC/DMTAP (50/50) lipids on SiO2, can be collected and released from bilayer sacks as a function of the phase transition of these lipids. ▼ A continuum plasticity yield function is developed that captures tension/compression asymmetry and its evolution as exhibited by HCP materials such as magnesium alloy sheet. The model, referred to herein as “CPB06ex3ev”, is based upon the CPB06 [1] yield surface which is extended in this research to consider evolution of asymmetry and anisotropy under monotonic loading. The model is further modified to incorporate thermal softening and strain rate effects. Mechanical characterization experiments are performed to acquire uniaxial tensile and compressive stress-strain data along a range of in-plane and through-thickness loading orientations. Experiments are performed for a range of strain rates (0.001-1s-1) and temperatures (23-250°C). A strong, evolving asymmetry is observed at room temperature when comparing tensile and compressive flow stresses and r-values, while asymmetry and anisotropy are reduced dramatically as temperature is increased. AZ31B exhibits moderate strain rate sensitivity at room temperature, however, the rate sensitivity increases with temperature. The CPB06ex3ev model is applied to simulate AZ31B magnesium alloy sheet. An error minimization scheme is used to fit the yield function and evolution coefficients over the entire data set. The calibrated model is shown to capture the evolving asymmetric/anisotropic response of both flow stresses and r-values in tension and compression, while also fitting the flow stress at the biaxial tension and pure shear locations on the yield locus. The model, which uses three stress transformations, is implemented within a user defined material model (UMAT) and linked to the commercial finite element software LS-DYNA. In order to assess the finite element implementation of the CPB06ex3ev model, a series of validation experiments were performed and corresponding finite element models were developed: (i) room temperature three-point bending; (ii) elevated temperature (250°C) limiting dome height experiments; and, (iii) warm cup drawing experiments. The three point bend simulations demonstrated the importance of capturing material asymmetry and the associated shift in neutral axis. Comparison between the warm forming experiments and models revealed qualitative agreement between the predicted punch load-displacement and strain distributions. The CPB06ex3ev formulation was able to capture the anisotropy trends in terms of the differences in strains measured along the sheet rolling versus transverse directions. Beyond the constitutive characterization and modeling effort, the cup draw formability experiments have provided interesting insight into the effect of temperature and temperature distribution within the AZ31B sheet. The current work has served to show the existence of a process window in which the blank center temperature must lie below the die temperature but above the temperature for activation of non-basal slip systems (to avoid low temperature fracture). ▼ “(When you see your reflection in water, do you recognize the water in you?)” So asks a footnote of Roni Horn’s Still Water (The River Thames, for Example), a work comprised of fifteen annotated photographs of the surface of water. The text of the six hundred total footnotes record Horn’s own thoughts and associations that emerged as she looked at the fifteen photographs of the river Thames. In this thesis, I argue that this work suggests a mode of looking that, instead of seeking a singular meaning, is more akin to the generative wandering of psychogeographers. The psychogeographic practice, of walking city streets and recording one’s observations thereof, arose out of an effort to understand the complex intersection of the social, economic, political, and personal that affects a person’s experience of urban space. Consisting of alternating immersion in urban space and withdrawal for personal reflection, psychogeographic wandering can be understood as a way to navigate city space akin to the selective and generative act of reading. To expand on this comparison and more closely triangulate this type of looking, I compare Horn’s work to Patrick Keiller’s 1994 film London, which follows the psychogeographic expeditions of Robinson and the narrator through the eponymous city, and W. G. Sebald’s 2001 novel Austerlitz which, in its interspersing of black and white photographs in the text, reveals the entanglement of history, memory, and place to the reader alongside the titular character. If these three works allow a viewer to participate in a sort of creation alongside their respective creators, what kind of reading are they figuring a viewer to engage in? What assumptions are these works making or refusing to make about the identity of this viewer? And is this type of looking applicable beyond the gallery’s walls or the book’s pages? I investigate these questions, among others, in the friction that results from rubbing these works together and I hope to approach an explanation of the type of looking these works engender, one that emerges through relation Advisors/Committee Members: Reynolds, Ann Morris (advisor), Stuart, David (committee member), Carter, Mia (committee member), Flaherty, George (committee member).

▼ In this thesis, the Cross-Gate SOI MOSFET that has double sources and double drains was successfully fabricated. The new SOI device structure has five unique features. First, it uses mesa isolation instead of using conventional LOCOS and trench isolation to avoid the birdâs beak effect in LOCOS isolation and the complexity of digging trench in trench isolationï¼ second, it has three surfaces of gate structures which can increase the effective channel width of the device to enhance the current drivability of the device without reducing the packing density of the circuitï¼ third, it has four channels which can increase the current drivability of the deviceï¼ fourth, it has narrowed source and drain that can reduce the leakage currentï¼ fifth, it has double sources and double drains that can design double or half current in the electric circuit by one device. According to the simulation results of the TSUPREM-4 and TMA TCAD, the saturation drain current of the multi-gate SOI devices are almost double larger than that of the conventional SOI device as VGS - Vth = 0.7 V. And the threshold voltageã Ion/Ioff and subthreshold factor of the Cross-Gate SOI device are almost the same with such of the Four Channels Multi-Gate SOI device. As far as the fabrication process is concerned, the new SOI device has simpler isolation processes than that of the conventional one. In addition, the nano-devices that Leff ï¼ 71nm was successfully fabricated. As concerning the electrical behavior, under the same condition of Leff ï¼ 71nm, Weff ï¼ 440nm, tsi ï¼ 120nm, the Cross-Gate SOI device has the lower subthreshold factor which is 93.153 and the higher Ion/Ioff which is 1.66Ã10E5 than those of the Four Channels Multi-Gate SOI device, in addition, the Cross-Gate SOI device has no kink effect. So, it can be concluded that such the Cross-Gate SOI device presented is much more applicable to the development of low power and high speed ULSI in the nearest future. THE AIM OF THIS PH.D THESIS IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE THEORY OF RULED SURFACES OF THE SIMPLY ISOTROPIC SPACE I3(1). THE WHOLE WORK IS SEPARATED UP INTO 6 CHAPTERS. CHAPTER I IS INTRODUCTORY AND INCLUDES FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS, WHICH ARENECESSARY FOR THE FOLLOWING. IN CHAPTERS II AND III WE DEFINE AND STUDY SOMESPECIAL FAMILIES OF CURVES, NAMED CURVES OF CONSTANT SURFACE ANGLE AND CURVES OF CONSTANT SURFACE DISTANCE, ON RULED SURFACES OF THE TYPE IV OR V OF THE SPACE I3(1). THE GOAL OF THIS STUDY IS TO FIND OUT CHARACTERISTIC PROPERTIESOF SOME SPECIAL RULED SURFACES OF THIS SPACE. IN CHAPTER IV WE INTRODUCE THE CONCEPTS, OF Α-, Β- AND Γ-TRANSVERSE SURFACES OF A RULED SURFACE OF THE TYPE IV OR V OF I3(1), WHILE IN CHAPTER V WE GIVE CHARACTERIZATIONS OF CERTAIN INVARIANTS OF A RULED SURFACE OF THE TYPE IV OR V VIA PROPERTIES OF EXTREME. FINALLY, IN CHAPTER VI WE EXAMINE THE EXISTENCE OF ISOMETRIC, CONFORMAL AND EQUIAREAL GENERATOR-PRESERVING MAPPINGS BETWEEN RULED SURFACES. FROM THE RESULTS, WHICH ARE OBTAINED, SOME COINCIDE WITH THE CORRESPONDING RESULTS OF THE EUKLIDEAN SPACE, SOME OTHERS ARE CONSIDERABLE DIFFERENT AND OTHERS REFER TO QUESTIONS, WHICH ARE EXAMINED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE ISOTROPIC SPACE.

Modelos baseados em splats tÃm ganhado crescente atenÃÃo devido a seu potencial para renderizaÃÃes de modelos geomÃtricos complexos de forma eficiente e com alta qualidade. A ausÃncia de informaÃÃes de conectividade desses modelos permite operaÃÃes de modelagem complexas, como operaÃÃes booleanas, e fraturas em simulaÃÃes fÃsicas. Entretanto, essas operaÃÃes geralmente geram modelos com arestas e cantos que nÃo podem ser representados corretamente com um nÃmero finito de splats sem que um tratamento seja feito. Neste trabalho, um grafo de vizinhanÃa utiliza uma estimativa que garante a conexÃo de todos os splats presentes em lados opostos de uma descontinuidade e que precisam ser recortados uns contra os outros. ApÃs utilizar um mÃtodo de detecÃÃo de descontinuidades no grafo gerado, os vizinhos que participam do recorte de um splat, os clip partners, sÃo determinados e classificados para que recortem o splat de forma a adaptÃ-lo Ã curva da descontinuidade. Outro problema encontrado na renderizaÃÃo de modelos baseados em splats Ã reconstruÃÃo de superfÃcies intersectantes. Nas proximidades de interseÃÃes de superfÃcies, as superfÃcies sÃo misturadas, resultando em artefatos. Para tratar esses casos, um algoritmo de segmentaÃÃo realiza a separaÃÃo das diversas superfÃcies presentes no modelo, identificando os splats que as formam e impedindo que eles sejam combinados em Ãreas prÃximas de interseÃÃes de superfÃcies na etapa de reconstruÃÃo da superfÃcie em espaÃo de imagem

Splats based models have gained increasing attention due to its potential for rendering complex geometric models efficiently and with high quality. The absence connectivity information of these models allows complex modeling operations, as Boolean operations, and fractures in physics simulations. However, these operations often generate models with edges and corners that can not be represented correctly with a finite number of splats without a treatment to be done. In this work, a neighborhood graph uses an estimate which ensures the connection of all these splats on opposite sides a discontinuity and that need to be clipped against each other. After using a method for detecting discontinuities in the generated graph, the neighbors participating in the a splat clipping, clip partners are determined to cut out and sorted splat so as to adapt it to the curve of discontinuity. Another problem encountered in rendering models based on reconstruction of splats is intersecting surfaces. Close intersections of surfaces, the surfaces are mixed, resulting in artifacts. to treat these cases, a segmentation algorithm performs separation of the various surfaces present in the model, identifying the splats that form and hold them to be combined into areas near the intersections of surfaces in the surface reconstruction phase space image

▼ Cette thèse comporte trois chapitres indépendants, consacrés à l’étude mathématique de trois problèmes physiques distincts, ayant pour modèles trois équations aux dérivées partielles différentes. Ces équations relèvent plus précisément de la méthode des surfaces de niveau, de la théorie de l’écoulement incompressible des matériaux non newtoniens et de la théorie cinétique des gaz raréfiés. Le premier chapitre de la thèse porte sur la dynamique des frontières en mouvement et contient une justification mathématique de la procédure numérique dite de ré-initialisation, dont les applications sont nombreuses dans le contexte de la célèbre méthode des surfaces de niveau. Nous appliquons ces résultats pour une classe d’équations issues de la méthode des surfaces de niveau de premier ordre. Nous écrivons la procédure de ré-initialisation comme un algorithme de décomposition et nous étudions la convergence de l’algorithme en utilisant des techniques d’homogénéisation dans la variable temporelle. Grâce à cette analyse rigoureuse nous introduisons également une nouvelle méthode pour l’approximation de la fonction de distance dans le contexte de la méthode des surfaces de niveau. Dans le cas où l’on cherche seulement une fonction de l’ensemble de niveau avec un gradient minoré proche du niveau zéro, nous proposons une approximation plus simple. Dans le cas général, où le niveau zéro pourrait présenter des changements de topologie, nous introduisons une nouvelle notion de limites relâchées. Dans le deuxième chapitre de la thèse, nous étudions un problème de frontière libre résultant de l’étude de l’écoulement incompressible d’un matériau non-newtonien, avec limite d’élasticité de type Drucker-Prager, sur un plan incliné et sous l’effet de la pesanteur. Nous obtenons une équation sous-différentielle, que nous formulons comme un problème variationnel avec un terme à croissance linéaire de type gradient, et nous étudions le problème dans un domaine non borné. Nous montrons que les équations sont bien posées et satisfont certaines propriétés de régularité. Nous sommes alors capables de relier les paramètres physiques avec le problème abstrait et de prouver des propriétés quantitatives de la solution. En particulier, nous montrons que la solution a un support compact, la limite de ce que nous appelons la frontière libre. Nous construisons également des solutions explicites d’une équation différentielle ordinaire qui peut estimer la frontière libre. Enfin, le troisième et dernier chapitre de la thèse est dédié aux solutions de l’équation de Boltzmann homogène avec molécules maxwelliennes et énergie infinie. Nous obtenons de nouveaux résultats d’existence de solutions éternelles pour cette équation dans un espace de mesures de probabilité d’énergie infinie (i.e. de moment d’ordre deux infini). Η ΕΞΑΡΤΗΣΗ ΤΩΝ ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓΙΚΩΝ ΧΑΡΑΚΤΗΡΙΣΤΙΚΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΔΙΑΤΑΞΕΩΝ ΑΠΟ ΤΙΣ ΤΙΜΕΣ ΤΩΝ ΦΥΣΙΚΩΝ ΚΑΙ ΓΕΩΜΕΤΡΙΚΩΝ ΠΑΡΑΜΕΤΡΩΝ ΔΙΕΡΕΥΝΑΤΑΙ ΛΕΠΤΟΜΕΡΩΣ ΚΑΙ ΕΞΑΓΟΝΤΑΙ ΧΡΗΣΙΜΑ ΣΥΜΠΕΡΑΣΜΑΤΑ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΠΡΑΚΤΙΚΗ ΕΦΑΡΜΟΓΗ ΤΟΥΣ.

OBJECT OF THIS THESIS IS THE STUDY OF PROPAGATION, WAVEGUIDING AND SCATTERING OF EM WAVES EITHER FROM MICROSLOTS IN THE PRESENCE OF DIELECTRIC AND/OR CONDUCTING HALF-CYLINDERS (CHAPTERS 2, 5, 6) OR FROM MICROSTRIPS IN THE PRESENCE OF DIELECTRIC OR CONDUCTING CYLINDERS (CH. 3, 4). THE CORRESPONDING BOUNDARY VALUEPROBLEMS ARE SUCCESSFULLY TREATED WITH THE APPLICATION OF GREEN'S-FUNCTION-TECHNIQUES COMBINED WITH THE THEORY OF SINGURAL INTEGRAL-INTEGRO-DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS OF THE FIRST KIND, WITH UNKNOWNS THE LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE MICROSTRIP ELECTRIC OR MICROSLOT EQUIVALENT MAGNETIC CURRENTS. THE SOLUTION OF THESE SYSTEMS OF EQUATIONS WAS ACHIEVED WITH THE HELP OF SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE ALGORITHMS AND LED TO LINEAR ALGEBRAIC SYSTEMS OF EQUATIONS WHOSE ELEMENTS ARE OBTAINED FROM RAPIDLY CONVERGENT AND STABLE ANALYTICAL EXPRESSIONS. THE DEPENDENCE OF THE OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCH DEVICES ON THE PHYSICAL AND GEOMETRICAL PARAMETERS IS CAREFULLY EXAMINED; THIS LEADS TO USEFUL CONCLUSIONS CONCERNING THEIR PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS. A REDUCTION OF SEVERAL ORDERS OF MAGNITUDEIN THE RADAR CROSS SECTION OF SUCH DEVICES IS ACHIEVABLE.
