Požadavek činoherního divadla a přítomnost dalších klasických divadel ve městě vedlo k inspiraci divadlem řeckým; japonským; středověkým; alžbětinským; totálním; osvobozeným; arénovým. Moderní budova činohry národního divadla se nemůže spoléhat pouze na klasická schémata; i když i ta mohou být požadována. Návrh reflektuje divadlo především jako místo střetnutí dvou protichůdných světů; světa reálného; v němž žijeme; a světa zidealizovaného; přetvořeného; který vídáme na jevišti; světa skutečnosti a jejího obrazu; světa tragédie a komedie; světa skutečných tváří herců a jejich masek; jejich skutečných osobností a jejich rolí; světa skutečných věcí a kulis; světa prostorového a plošně zjednodušeného. Také dva základní protichůdné pohledy na divadelní umění jako na svět ideální; pompézní; výchovný; poučný a zábavný a na divadlo jako nemilosrdné zrcadlo našeho života; subjektivní; věrné či sarkastické; i rozpor těchto dvou chápání divadla můžeme zahrnout mezi divadelní dvojakosti. BUDOVA Nová budova divadla chce být zhmotněním dialogu; základního stavebního prvku divadelní tvorby; kterým Aischylos povýšil do té doby všeplatné zpěvné a taneční rituály na skutečné drama. Dialog spolu vedou dvě protichůdné formy – budova divadla a její prázdný otisk – veřejné prostranství. Klasifikace dialog a monolog se stává subjektivní; uvažujeme-li za druhý subjekt prázdno. Tato představa dodává úvaze existenciální náboj. Samotné dvě formy – plná a prázdná – mají kromě parafráze divadelní protichůdnosti; pověstného rozhraní dvou světů; přesah do mnoha dalších oblastí života – podobně jako samotné divadlo. Tvar budovy - zužující a zvyšující se hmota - vznikl spolu s prostranstvím spontánně jako asociace doplňkovosti. Tento tvar však reaguje kromě urbanistických a provozních návazností také na ideu moderního divadla; které by mělo být proměnlivé a dynamické. Vzletný tvar budovy zhmotňuje nejen tuto abstraktní dynamiku; ale je také intuitivním přepisem dynamiky hereckého projevu; přetlaku energie sršící z člověka; nepostradatelné nejen k hereckému výkonu; ale také ke všem lidským tvůrčím činnostem.; THEATRE Dramatic art is as old as human society. During its existence it has passed through long and colourful evolution which we charted probably only really partially. Requierement of a drama theatre and presence of another classical thetre buildings in the town caused an inspiration by Greek; Japonese; medieval; Elizabethan; Total; Exempt or arena theatre. A modern bulding of national drama theatre can´t depend of only calssical schemes; though even those could be reguired. The project reflect theatre first of all as a place of a battle of two contradictory worlds; a real world which we live in it; and an ideal; transformated world which we use to see on a stage; a world of reality and a world of its reflex; a world of tragedy and a of comedy; a world of existing faces of actors and a world of their masks; their real personalities and their parts; a world of true things and a world od scenes; a three-dimensional world and a 2D-simplified world. Also the two contradictory views of dramatic art; the first one as an ideal world; pompous; educational; instructive and funy and the second as a merciless mirror of our own lifes; subjective; authentic or caustic; so even this discrepancy of those two different opinions of theatre we could add in the theatre duplicity. BUILDING The new theatre building wants to be an objectification of a dialog; which is the basic structural element of dramatic production; whith which Aischylos sublimated singing and dancig rituals which were of binding force in that times to a real drama. This dialog is runned by two antagonistic forms – the theatre building and its empty impression – a public space. Established classification of dialog and monolog becomes subjective; if we suppose an emptiness as the second object. This idea gives our meditation an existencial character a bit. The two forms by themselves – the full one and the empty one –except of an imitation of theatre dialectics; a proverbial boundery-line of two worlds; also transcend into many other spheres of human life – analogous to a theatre. The shape of the building – a diminished and raising mass – has arised within the open space spontaneously as an association of complementing. But this shape – except other urbanistic and functional sequences - also reacts to an ide of modern theatre; which should be variable and dynamic. The poetic shape of the building not only materializes thist abstract dynamism but it is also an intuitive transscription of dynamism of an actor´s manifestation; an overpressure of human energy which is indispensable not only for a performance but also for all human creative activities.

▼ Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vad som styr det enskilda företagets val av tidpunkt för att genomföra M&A-transaktioner. Metod: Studiens metod är en kvantitativ och kvalitativ beskrivande undersökning bestående av företagen IBM och AT&T. Tre kvalitativa telefonintervjuer samt en personlig intervju genomfördes med fyra investmentbankrådgivare inom M&A för att komplettera den ovan nämnda empirin. Detta för att få en djupare förståelse kring varför företag väljer att genomföra M&A vid specifika tillfällen. Valet av både kvantitativ och kvalitativ datainsamling ansågs relevant i förhållande till frågeställningen och syftet. Det empiriska materialet ställdes sedan mot uppsatsens teoretiska referensram. Slutsatser: Våra slutsatser är att det enskilda företagets val av tidpunkt för att genomföra en M&A-transaktion påverkas av ett samspel mellan finansieringsmöjligheter, företagsvärdering och industrikonkurrens. Vår studie visar att de viktigaste faktorerna är värdering och finansiering då dessa påverkar företag oavsett vilken industri de är verksamma inom. Varje vinstmaximerande företag strävar efter att köpa företag som är undervärderade vilket ger bra värde för pengarna och som kan finansieras med billiga lån. Företag kan därför avvakta med att uttrycka ett intresse för ett företag till dessa två faktorer stämmer, alternativt genomföra en opportunistisk transaktion när förhållandena ser attraktiva ut. Finansiering och värdering kan även förklara våg fenomenet genom att dessa är tillgängliga till samma villkor för alla företag samtidigt, vilket innebär att flera företag kan välja att utnyttja möjligheterna vid samma tidpunkt. Vidare har vi kommit fram till att företags val av tidpunkt för M&A-transaktioner ofta påverkas av konkurrenters M&A-aktivitet p.g.a. att företag inte vill förlora marknadsandelar. Alternativt kan en konkurrents M&A-transaktion fungera som ett riktmärke för vad andra liknande företag är värda. Externa faktorer som vi kommit fram till påverkar M&A-transaktioner är industrichocker så som teknologiska innovationer eller avreglering. Dessa sker dock periodvis inom specifika industrier och kan påverka ett företags generella M&A-strategi alternativt M&A-aktivitet på långsiktig skala, snarare än kortsiktig.

Kunić, kao eksperimentalna životinja, je veoma čest model u raznovrsnim biomedicinskim istraživanjima, zahvaljujući sličnosti u morfološkim i kliničkim osobinama sa ljudskim, kao i lakoći odgajivanja, držanja i posmatranja. Za izbor modela u bimedicinskim istraživanjima, neophodno je dobro poznavati anatomsku građu, morfološke i fiziološke karakteristike eksperimentalnih životinja. Kunić, kao životinja sa indukovanom ovulacijom, je model kod koga se precizno može utvrditi vreme ovulacije, a po sličnosti fetalnog i embrionalnog razvića sa ljudskim, predstavlja model, koji u ispitivanjima iz oblasti reprodukcije ima prednost nad drugim eksperimentalnim životinjama. Uzimajući u obzir da vrsta kunića, pol, starost, kao i način držanja utiču na neke morfološke i fiziološke karakteristike ove vrste, ova ispitivanja izvedena su na Kalifornijskom kuniću, sa ciljem da se utvrde i upotpune podaci o topografiji ženskih polnih organa Kalifornijskog kunića (Oryctolagus cuniculus domesticus), njihovoj vaskularizaciji, histološkim promenama u ženskom reproduktivnom traktu kunića, tokom različitih faza polnog ciklusa, kao i njegovoj imunološkoj reaktivnosti tokom ovih faza. Ispitivanja su vršena na 30 polno zrelih ženki, prosečne starosti 5-7 meseci, telesne mase oko 3200-4000 g, koje su parene prvi put, ili su bile u graviditetu po prvi put. Anatomskim metodama rada izvršena su topografska ispitivanja ženskih reproduktivnih organa kunića, pelvimetrija i vaskularizacija, za koju je korišćena i rendgenografija. Isečci tkiva jajnika, jajovoda, materice, rodnice i usmine bojeni su hematoksilin eozinom, Gomori metodom i metodom po Gordon-Sweet-u, za histološka ispitivanja. Kriostatski isečci materice i vagine bojeni su metodom peroksidaznog obelezavanja ćelija, radi ispitivanja imunoloških karakteristika ovih organa. Po svojim topografskim i morfološkim osobinama, reproduktivni ograni ženki kunića su slični reproduktivnim organima ženki karnivora i činčile. A. ovarica i a. uterina su glavni krvni sudovi u irigaciji reproduktivnih organa kunića. Histološke i imunološke promene za vreme različitih faza reproduktivnog ciklusa su bile evidentne. T i B limfociti su bili prisutni u svim delovima reproduktivnog trakta, pri čemu je najveću imunološku reaktivnost pokazao cervix, a faza estrusa je bila faza u kojoj je zabeležen najveći broj imunokompetentih ćelija.

Entre as ß-lactamases, as enzimas CTX-M têm despertado atenção especial pela alta incidência e grande capacidade de propagação. Eventos como recombinação gênica, transferência plasmideal e multirresistência podem ser a razão da manutenção e da ampla disseminação dos genes blaCTX-M. Este é um trabalho retrospectivo que teve como objetivo caracterizar genes blaCTX-M presentes em Klebsiella spp. Foram estudadas 27 linhagens de Klebsiella pneumoniae e 8 linhagens de Klebsiella oxytoca, produtoras de ?-lactamase de espectro estendido, isoladas de pacientes hospitalizados no período de janeiro a junho de 2000. A detecção e identificação dos genes blaCTX-M, assim como dos elementos relacionados com a mobilização destes genes, foi realizada por PCR e seqüenciamento. A localização genética e a mobilidade dos genes blaCTX-M foram pesquisadas por análise plasmideal e hibridação e por conjugação. Os perfis de sensibilidade das linhagens estudadas e das linhagens transconjugantes foram comparados pela determinação da concentração inibitória mínima de antibióticos das classes das cefalosporinas, cefamicinas, aminoglicosídeos e quinolonas. Foram encontrados genes blaCTX-M em plasmídeos conjugativos em 13 (37%) linhagens estudadas: blaCTX-M-9 em 4 K. oxytoca, e blaCTX-M-2 em 9 K. pneumoniae. Os genes blaCTX-M-9 estavam associados ao elemento de inserção ISEcp1, enquanto os genes blaCTX-M-2 estavam associados a integrons de classe I contendo ISCR1. O genes blaCTX-M-2, carreado por plasmídeo, pode estar relacionado com disseminação horizontal entre vários clones de K. pneumoniae, enquanto o gene blaCTX-M-9 foi encontrado sendo carreado por um único clone de K. oxytoca. CTX-M enzymes, the world\'s most prevalent ß-lactamases disseminate very easily. Genetic recombination, plasmid transference and multiresistance could be responsible for the wide spread of blaCTM-X genes. This retrospective study aims to characterize blaCTX-M genes found in Klebsiella spp. The strains were isolated in hospital patients from January to June 2000 and consisted of 27 ESBL-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae and 8 ESBL-producing Klebsiella oxytoca. PCR and sequencing were used in the detection and identification of blaCTX-M genes and genetic elements associated with their mobilization. Determination of genetic localization and mobility of blaCTX-M genes was by plasmid analyses, hybridization and transfer assays. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of cephalosporins, cefamicins, aminoglycosides and quinolone antimicrobials evaluated the antibiotic susceptibility profile of transconjugants and strains in the study. ▼ Current inactivated influenza vaccines target the generation of influenza-specific antibodies to provide homotypic protection. However, little is known about the effects of annual vaccinations on the immune response during a subsequent influenza A virus infection. Here, we investigated the effect of pre-existing influenza-specific neutralising antibodies on innate and adaptive immunity during secondary infections. We report that the presence of pre-existing antibodies abrogates the induction of interferon type I (IFN-I) responses and cytotoxic T cell responses during subsequent influenza A virus infection. Wild-type mice were vaccinated intravenously with gamma-irradiated A/PR8 [H1N1] (γ-A/PR8) and challenged 3 weeks later with live A/PR8, and splenocytes were analysed 24 hours later for IFN-I mediated lymphocyte activation using fluorescent activated cell sorting. Our data clearly show absence of partial systemic lymphocyte activation and IFN-I responses in vaccinated mice. Furthermore, co-administration of A/PR8-specific sera and live A/PR8 virus abrogated the ability of live virus to induce partial lymphocyte activation, IFN-I responses as well as cytotoxic T cell responses. To test the clinical relevance of this observation, mice were mock or vaccinated with γ-A/PR8 and infected 3 weeks later with sub-lethal dose of A/PR8. These animals were then challenged 3 weeks later with lethal dose of A/PC [H3N2]. Our data clearly illustrate the effect of pre-existing antibodies on the ability of sub-lethal infection to generate cytotoxic T cell mediated heterosubtypic protection. I also investigated whether IFN-I responses are required for the generation of cytotoxic T cell responses in the presence of neutralising immune sera. My data show that addition of exogenous Poly I:C to A/PR8 virus pre-treated with A/PR8-specific sera did not rescue the induction of cytotoxic T cell responses. Thus, the presence of neutralising antibodies abrogates the induction of IFN-I and cytotoxic T cell responses during homotypic influenza A virus re-infection. ▼ Staphylococcus aureus has become increasingly resistant to antibiotics and community acquired methicillin resistant S. aureus (CA-MRSA) skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) are occurring with increasing frequency in healthy individuals. As skin is the most frequent site of S. aureus infection, a vaccine specifically targeted against SSTIs would be of great benefit. However, to date, all vaccine approaches to protect against S. aureus infection have failed, likely due to the inefficient induction of cellular immunity. It is now accepted that T cells are essential for promoting a successful immune response against S. aureus infection. However, there is a paucity of information regarding T cell antigens of S. aureus. S. aureus can express a large number of cell wall-anchored (CWA) proteins, which are covalently attached to the cell wall peptidoglycan. The virulence potential of many CWA proteins has been demonstrated in infection models, however, there is a lack of information regarding their roles during SSTIs, and whether they represent attractive T cell antigens remains to be established. This study demonstrates the ability of S. aureus CWA proteins to activate human T cells, specifically, inducing antigen-specific Th1 and Th17 responses. Importantly this study has demonstrated that clumping factor A (ClfA) has the capacity to induce robust T cell responses, and that the full length ClfA N123 protein is required for maximum Th1 and Th17 activation both in vitro and in vivo. This work also supports the use of CWA proteins as vaccine antigens, as they have the ability to induce both neutralising antibodies but more importantly, are capable of driving a much-needed cellular immune response. CWA proteins were found to be specifically important in determining abscess formation and structure, which in turn impact upon infection outcomes during subcutaneous skin infection. Most interestingly, a novel role for clumping factor B (ClfB) was discovered during SSTIs. ClfB appears to determine the abscess structure early in infection, which is dependent upon its interaction with the ligand loricrin. Consequently, a model vaccine comprising of ClfB was developed which induced humoral and cellular responses, ultimately leading to protection during subsequent S. aureus skin infection. Overall, this thesis highlights an important role for CWA proteins during SSTIs, and highlights their ability to activate cellular and humoral immune responses, capable of inducing protection against S. aureus SSTIs. ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study examines representations of women in four Xhosa drama books, thus aiming at highlighting the interplay between culture and women's social space. A comparative approach is used to review the ways in which the Xhosa dramatists under study characterise women.Some of these representations suggest that women have the capability to achieve personal transedence rather than accept the immanence imposed by stereotyped gender relationships. In these works, it is evident that writers can change the image of women by centralising them as active people who fight for their rights. THE ASSIGNMENT IS ARRANGED AS FOllOWS: CHAPTER 1 Introduces the aim, the scope, the theories and the methods of the study. CHAPTER 2 Deals with the development of plot and attention is paid to episodes in the four dramas. These episodes depict the different phases of the dramas. The dramas under study are evaluated critically by motivating their positive and negative aspects. CHAPTER3 Deals with woman as character in Xhosa dramas under study. A critical detailed analysis of the main woman character in each drama is undertaken. CHAPTER4 Presents depiction of Xhosa culture in the Xhosa dramas. CHAPTERS Summarises the findings of the study which is the representation of women in Xhosa drama books.

AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie ondersoek voorstellings van vroue in vier Xhosa dramas met die doelom die interaksie te ontleed tussen kultuurverskynsels in die vrou se sosiale ruimte. 'n Vergelykende benadering word gevolg om 'n analise te doen van hoe die dramaturge wie se werke bestudeer word vroue karakteriseer. Sommige representasies van hierdie karakterisering dui aan dat vroue die vermoë het tot persoonlike transendensie, eerder as om die onmiddellikheid te aanvaar van gestereotipeerde genderverhoudings. In die dramas wat ondersoek is, blyk dit dat die skrywers in staat is om die beeld van vroue te verander deur hulle te sentraliseer as aktiewe mense wat veg vir hulle regte. Die werkstuk word as volg georganiseer: Hoofstuk Een gee 'n uiteensetting van die doelstelling, omvang, teoretiese raamwerk en metodes van die studie. Hoofstuk Twee ondersoek die ontwikkeling van intrige en 'n analise word gedoen van die episodes in die vier dramas. Hierdie episodes beeld die verskillende fases van die onderskeie dramas uit. Die dramas word krities ge-evalueer en hulle positiewe en negatiewe aspekte word behandel. Hoofstuk Drie ondersoek die vrou as karakter in die Xhosa dramas. 'n Gedetaileerde kritiese analise word onderneem van die hoof vroue karakter in elke drama. Hoofstuk Vier ondersoek die uitbeelding van kultuur in die onderskeie Xhosa dramas. Hoofstuk Vyf gee 'n opsomming van die hoofaspekte van ondersoek en die bevindinge van die studie.

▼ Both minimal(ism) and postmodern(ism/ity) are terms that occupy a peculiar space in contemporary discourse: in academic circles their characterisation is contested and debated in everyday life they have become so ubiquitous that everyone associates them with something, but not necessarily with any degree of consensus. Both become widely recognised terms during the latter half of the twentieth century: decades characterised by unprecedented globalisation of culture and communication. This thesis seeks to explore the emergence of these terms, and the events they sought to describe, but it does not attempt to impose a 'correct' definition on either term. Instead, the thesis investigates the discourse that surrounds each concept, assembling a network of ideas that characterise those terms. I will demonstrate that each label acts as a signpost to a flexible collection of theories and characteristics, and argue that minimalism can be seen as a significant cultural response to an emerging postmodernity. The structure of this thesis has been informed by the philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari, particularly their writings on rhizomatic thought. Their thinking is not the subject of this research, but is the inspiration for a particular attitude to ideas that has been used as a structuring device for the text: that is, a structure that hopes to demonstrate the interconnectedness of contemporary experience. The image of the kaleidoscope is used as a metaphor for this rhizomatic approach. While the physical object represents the 'totality that many regard postmodernity to be, the experience of viewing a kaleidoscope the constantly shifting parts and the resultant patterns that we recognise is imagined as an illustration of the way that postmodernity and minimalism can be understood. Three parts magnify these terms in increasing detail. The first explores postmodern discourse and its relationship to culture. The second examines the development of, and critical response to, minimalism. The third takes a single composer, Louis Andriessen, and attempts to show how the postmodern condition frames his creativity, and his particular response to minimalism. All of these parts contain connections within and between, each part. While these connections will often be alluded to, I have tried to avoid solidifying these relationships in a way that might appear too 'linear' so as to invite the reader to participate in the interpretive process, and to retain the openness so characteristic of Deleuzian thought.

Először az Erlang C került vizsgálódásom középpontjába, amely egyszerűségével igen vonzó a Call Center menedzserek számára. Gyors és pontos algoritmus létezik a kiszámítására, ahogy azt a 6.5. fejezetben idézett forrás is részletesen leírja. Azonban ennek a rendszernek komoly hiányosságai is vannak. Az első abból adódik, hogy lényegében azonos híváskezelési időkkel számol, amely nem mindig tartható feltételezés. Ennek feloldását tárgyalja a 7. fejezet, amely aszimptotikus közelítést ad a késleltetési valószínűségekre, és ebből származtatja a TSF-et és az ASA-t. Ebben a fejezetben lesz említve először az iparágban létező három létszámfeltöltési rezsim, irányvonal, amelyeket egyenként Hatékonyság-, Minőségvezéreltnek és Racionalizáltnak nevezünk. ▼ This thesis presents the development of a software-based decoder design tool (DDT) for producing Ambisonic decoders optimised for playback over 5-speaker layouts. The research specifically focuses on developing decoders for irregular layouts with loudspeakers at a constant radial distance from the central listening position. It was motivated by the desire to provide better surround sound over the standard ITU 5-speaker layout for listeners in the sweet spot and off-centre positions. A wide-ranging literature review is presented revealing the need for such work. The DDT employs the Tabu Search algorithm to seek improved decoder parameters according to a multi-objective fitness function. The fitness function encapsulates criteria from psychoacoustic models as a set of objectives. In order to ensure the objectives were treated equally a method known as „range-removal‟ was used for the first time in Ambisonic decoder design. A companion technique termed „importance‟ allows the systematic prioritisation of range-removed objectives giving a designer control over desired decoder criteria. Additional elements exist in the DDT that can be turned on or off in different combinations. They include: a novel component for producing decoders with even performance by angle, a novel component for producing performance that correlates with the pattern of human spatial resolution estimated in previous Minimum Audible Angle experiments, and the ability to produce frequency dependent or independent decoders of different orders. Moreover, the user of the DDT can optimise performance for a single listener or multiple distributed listeners. To make the DDT as interactive as possible searches can optionally run on a High Performance Computer. This thesis also details the extensive testing of Ambisonic decoders for the ITU layout. Decoders have been assessed subjectively in listening tests and objectively using binaural measurements which has verified the methods developed in this research and the DDT‟s concept. Furthermore, decoders derived by the DDT have been compared to existing decoders and the results show they give equal or better performance. The development of a fully-functioning DDT which incorporates techniques for range-removal, importance, even performance by angle, minimum audible angle, off-centre listeners and their use in any combination represent the key outcomes of this work.

▼ This thesis offers a phenomenologically framed exploration of “computer-mediated” (Duignan, 2010) musical "creativities” (Burnard, 2012) and draws upon established creativity models to inform the development of a creativity framework that speaks specifically to the domain of computer-mediated musical practice. It is important to understand that the framework itself is not the focus of this thesis; rather, the aim of this thesis is to disclose transparently a method for developing a personalised understanding of my computer-mediated musical creativities as a template for other practitioners. Drawing from contemporary literature on creativity from a sociocultural perspective (Amabile, 1996), this study implements a phenomenological (Van Mannen, 2007) approach in order to capture a detailed impression of how my creativity is informed by concrete (computers, technology) and conceptual (socio-cultural background, cognitive processes) contextual resources. More specifically, this research focuses on “little c” (Craft, 2000) creativity, the skills possessed by all individuals as evidenced in learning and development literature (Craft, 2000; Arvaja, 2007; Burnard & Younker, 2010). This thesis offers a longitudinal case study of the sociological contexts of computer-mediated music creativities by focusing on myself as a subject for this work. Various types of data collection were collected, including: comprehensive written protocol (note-taking), audio excerpts of deconstructed musical materials; and audiovisual screen-capture of real-time creative practices. The creativity stages outlined by Sawyer in Explaining Creativity (2012) and Zig Zag (2013) were used as data sets for template analysis (King, 1998). Data that met these criteria were analysed and represented through structural mapping and analysis of the musical product, methods drawn from Collins (2005). The findings demonstrate that the chronology and direction of my creative focus between stages is intuitive and context dependent. It was also found that the influence of concrete and conceptual resources can be observed and understood through metacognitive investigation. This guided the development of a framework for the understanding of my computer-mediated musical creativity. This thesis encourages digitally informed musicians to think critically about their own creativity and guides the exploration of sociocultural context as a mediating resource and inspiration.

▼ This thesis presents and discusses research undertaken into the detection and measurement of colouration produced by audio transformers. It is common for transformers to be subjectively described by audio professionals as ‘warm’, ‘fat’, ‘smooth’, etc. however there is little evidence to show if there is an audible difference and if there is a correlation between these levels of perceptual attributes and the performance of the device. Therefore, the research question was defined as: is there an audible difference with a transformer? A review of the objective and subjective elements of the study was conducted. First the history, application and operation of the audio transformer with an aim to understand the objective measures and performance of the device with focus on the nonlinear distortion response. This also includes the design and testing of a suitable test circuit used in the measurement method. The subjective review concerns perception of distortion and testing methodologies for investigating audible differences. The conclusion of the review is that few pieces of research exist showing the relationship between device, distortion and perception. The testing of each transformer involved the use of a specially designed test circuit using a variety of measures including THD+N and frequency domain analysis, to provide the most information about the operation of the device. Using the same setup, the device responses to a variety of samples were recorded and implemented in a double-blind triple-stimulus with hidden reference test using trained listeners in accordance with the ITU-R BS.1116-3 recommendation. The test results were then analysed for a random distribution using a 1-tailed binomial test. The results of the analysis show a high likelihood that the bass samples were audibly different shown by the significant p-values of all 3 samples at less than 0.001. A slight correlation seems to exist with THD+N, 3rd harmonic distortion and level however with no other obvious trends, it was concluded that the distortion and therefore the audibility is programme dependent. It was concluded that transformers are likely to produce a level of distortion deemed audible although the effect is considered to be programme dependent.

Esta dissertação possui como tema central a investigação da tese de Martin Heidegger a respeito do caráter derivado da verdade proposicional com relação ao que é por ele concebido como o fenômeno originário da verdade. A interrogação sobre um horizonte mais originário da noção de verdade advém da convicção de Heidegger com respeito à negligência dos autores da tradição filosófica quanto à necessidade de uma fundamentação ontológica para a verdade proposicional. A raiz metafísica da verdade proposicional se encontraria no pressuposto aristotélico da substância (ou)si/a) como categoria fundamental do ser dos entes em geral. Heidegger, portanto, procurará desconstruir a noção de uma realidade constante e auto-subsistente como o fundamento ontológico da concepção hegemônica de verdade. A substancialidade do ser, até então, uma evidência inquestionável, passa agora a ser articulada pelo ser humano social e historicamente situado. Isso quer dizer que, de alguma forma, a concepção do ser como substância, ou presença constante, precisa ter sido estabelecida pelo ser humano e incorporada na história da filosofia de modo a se tornar a fundamentação metafísica da verdade. Todavia, Heidegger adverte que o estabelecimento da ontologia da substancialidade não é o resultado de uma simples escolha teórica humana. Ao contrário, essa fundamentação teórica estaria condicionada pelo próprio modo de ser do humano enquanto existente no mundo.

This dissertation holds as a central theme the investigation of Martin Heideggers thesis with respect to the derivative character of propositional truth in relation to what is considered by him as the originary phenomenon of truth. The interrogation about a more originary horizon of the notion of truth arises from Heideggers certitude in respect to the negligence of the authors of philosophical tradition towards the necessity of an ontological grounding to propositional truth. The metaphysical roots of propositional truth would be in the Aristotelian presumption of substance (ou)si/a) as fundamental category of the being of entities in general. Therefore, Heidegger will try to deconstruct the notion of a constant and self-subsistent reality as an ontological ground to the hegemonic conception of truth. The substantiality of being, till then, unquestionable evidence, is now articulated by the historically situated human being. It means that, somehow, the conception of being as substance, or constant presence, should have been established by human beings and incorporated in the history of philosophy in such a way that it became a metaphysical grounding of truth. Nevertheless, Heidegger warns that the establishing of the ontology of substantiality is not the result of a simple theoretical human choice. On the contrary, this theoretical grounding would be conditioned by the very mode of being of humans as existents in the world.
