What drives business leaders to pursue greater purpose in business? What motivates them to exercise compassion and caring in the workplace? Under what conditions do business leaders transform their organizations into “positive impact companies” committed to generating prosperity for all, achieving regenerative environmental outcomes, and improving human wellbeing?This exploratory research aims to uncover common elements of those business leaders who seek to create a positive impact through their work and through their organizations. It is based on a mixed-methods approach combining findings from three studies: an initial qualitative study based on interviews with 21 business owners and senior executives from a cross-section of industries; a survey-based quantitative study with 322 respondents consisting of business owners, senior executives and middle managers from a cross-section of industries; and a third qualitative study based on an additional 21 interviews across seven case study companies. It also incorporates inferences from interviews with 48 business owners and senior executives as part of the Quantum Leadership Project at the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit.The overall findings suggest that the core of positive impact leadership resides in a shift in the mindset of leaders toward one of connectedness. Defined as a “consciousness of connectedness,” such a mindset and way of seeing the world begins with an awareness of how one's attitudes and actions impact all life on earth and future generations. The results of this study suggest that practices of connectedness - both personal and organizational – play an important role in the emergence of a consciousness of connectedness. The results also suggest a close correlation between several core indicators of a fundamental shift in consciousness about the role of business in society: shared values of human wellbeing, a common shared vision, an emphasis on collaboration and caring in organizations, and a long-term perspective toward the creation of shared economic prosperity. The purpose of this research was to investigate the fit of men's dress shirt collars among men 18 years and older and sized small to large. Fit was evaluated by the subject's response to a comfort scale based on physical comfort. Static fit (ease) was determined by subtracting the neck measurement from the collar measurement. Dynamic fit was determined by subtracting the ease for movement from the ease in the collar. Men from Virginia Tech and the vicinity of Blacksburg, Virginia were asked to participate. One hundred men volunteered for this study. The data analysis was conducted on 90 of the 100 surveys. Some surveys were eliminated due to incomplete information. Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to determine if there was a positive correlation between ease and comfort. The data were analyzed with Analysis of Variance to determine if there were significant differences between age groups for perceived comfort or for ease. Analysis of Variance was used to determine if there were significant differences between size groups for perceived comfort, for ease for movement or for ease. Analysis of variance was also used to determine whether there were significant differences between age groups and size groups for comfort or for ease. The results of the study showed that 2.2% of the subjects did not have ease in static fit and 4.4% of the subjects did not have ease for movement in dynamic fit. There was a significant positive correlation between ease and comfort. There were significant differences between age groups for perceived comfort but not for ease; there were significant differences between size groups for ease but not for ease for movement or perceived comfort; and there were no significant differences between age groups and size groups for perceived comfort or for ease. Although the median value for ease for movement was 1/4 of an inch, 16 of the 90 men (17.8% ) had greater than 1 14 of an inch ease for movement. The results of the present study and Langan's study (1984) indicated that the tie may be the major contributor to neckwear tightness. Предмет истраживања дисертације је развој модела електронског пословања заснованог на флексибилном учешћу потрошача на српском тржишту електричне енергије. Циљ је развoj одрживoг и применљивoг моделa електронског пословања који омогућава учешће домаћинстава и појединачних уређаја на балансном тржишту и на берзи електричне енергије коришћењем smart grid технологија и demand-response сервиса. Учествовањем појединачних домаћинстава и уређаја у балансном тржишту омогућава се прецизна контрола фреквенције електроенергетског система, што oтвара могућности за експлоатацију обновљивих извора електричне енергије преко флексибилнијег и тачнијег управљања флуктуацијама. Tржиштa електричне енергије традиционално функционишу по B2B моделу електронског пословања где се пословање врши искључиво између произвођача и оператора тржишта. Дерегулација отвара нове могућности пословања за тржишта електричне енергије, претежно за домаћинства чијом се инклузијом у великој мери може повећати флексибилност и ефикасност механизма балансирања и целокупна стабилност електроенергетске мреже. Пословни модел предложен у овој дисертацији прилагођен је пословном окружењу и регулативи у Републици Србији. Предложена техничка спецификација модела састоји се од дистрибуиране инфраструктуре за повезивање и координацију великог броја корисничких IoT уређаја. За прикупљање, анализу и управљање подацима у реалном времену користе се аналитичке методе и софтверски алати базирани на пословној интелигенцији. Предност предложеног модела је у могућности примене на тржиштима електричне енергије која су у развоју, ниским иницијалним инвестицијама и интеграцији са smart grid технологијама. Subjects/Keywords: The subject of this thesis is the development of an e-business model based on flexible participation of households in the Serbian energy market. The goal is the development of a sustainable and suitable e-business model that enables households as well as individual devices to participate in the balancing market as well as the energy exchange through the use of smart grid concepts and demand response technologies. By enabling the participation of individual households in the balancing market; a new mechanism for frequency control of energy grids is possible; which allows for the future adoption of renewables. Energy markets are traditionally B2B e-business models; which facilitate for business processes between the energy producers and the system operators. With the deregulation of energy markets; new ways of doing business are becoming possible; primarily for households for whom the participation in the market allows for greater flexibility and efficiency in the balancing mechanism and the potential to improve the stability of the energy grid as a whole. The business model proposed in this dissertation is based on the business rules as well as regulations that are currently in place in the Republic of Serbia. The implementation of the technical segment of the model is based on the design of a distributed infrastructure for the coordination of a large number of individual users and devices with the goal of providing demand response services to the energy market. Business intelligence tools; as well as analytical models; will be used for the purpose of data extraction and analysis as well as to manage the system in real time. The advantage of the proposed model is in the fact that it is adapted for energy markets that are still in development; as well as its capability to adapt to new technological trends and its integration with smart grid technologies. The dissertation gives the analysis of readiness of customers and market participants for the application of the propsed model.
