Trenden inom systemutveckling och programutveckling går mot ett mer användande av multi programmeringsparadigmer. Funktionell programmering har fått mer uppmärksamhet på senare tid och utvecklingen tycks över lag gå än mer åt det deklarativa hållet där programmeraren fokuserar mer på vad som skall utföras och inte lika mycket på hur. Under en tid har det objektorienterade paradigmet varit dominerande, kommer det vara så i framtiden? Funktionell programmering skiljer sig från imperativ programmering, speciellt i abstraktionsnivå. Microsoft har implementerat programmeringsspråket F# i Visual Studio 2010. F# är ett funktionellt programmeringsspråk som även stödjer objektorienterad och imperativ programmering. Kan F# få funktionell programmering som paradigm att växa? Kommer F# få något genomslag i programmeringsvärlden? Genom att höra experter och företags åsikter vill vi framställa en prognos för F#. Vi vill ta reda på vad erfarna programmerare tycker om F# och vad de tror om framtiden. Att förutsäga framtiden är något som är väldigt svårt, om inte omöjligt. Prognoser stämmer således nästan aldrig. Det kan dock fortfarande vara av värde och frambringa olika effekter på utvecklingen. Resultaten av vår undersökning pekar på en ljus framtid för F# som programmeringsspråk och funktionell programmering som paradigm. F# är ett populärt språk, bland dem som provat på det och kan effektivisera verksamheten för många företag. I denna skrift undersöker vi F# som språk - med några av dess mest ansett användbara aspekter - och funktionell programmering i allmänhet.

The trend in systems- and program-development has changed direction towards an increase in the usage of multi-programming paradigms. The attention put on Functional programming have increased lately and the development seems to move towards a more declarative style, where the programmer focuses more on how something should be done, than on what should be done. For awhile now, the objectoriented paradigm have been the dominant programming paradigm, but will this hold in the future? Functional programming differs from imperative programming, especially on the abstract level. Microsoft has implemented the programming language F# in Visual Studio 2010. ▼ The parasitic liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica, presents a significant economic burden to the UK livestock industry. Liver fluke disease (fasciolosis) control is underpinned by forecasting, which is currently performed on a relatively crude regional scale, informed by traditional seasonal disease patterns and prevailing climatic conditions. The ultimate indicator of fluke infection risk is the infectious cyst (metacercarial) challenge on pasture; hence precise forecasting of the fasciolosis risk to grazing livestock requires the development of new methods to identify and quantify viable metacercariae on pasture. The work in this thesis focuses on the development of assays to evaluate the viability of metacercariae, methods to recover metacercariae from herbage, and DNA detection techniques to identify and quantify the numbers of viable metacercariae from pasture samples. Furthermore, there is investigation and discussion of the risk of fasciolosis to livestock grazing on wetland areas as part of agri-environmental schemes, and to housed livestock consuming grass silage. Determination of metacercarial viability is key to the prediction of metacercarial challenge on pasture. Methods which are quick and relatively easy to perform are appropriate for liver fluke forecasting as avoidance of infections is important to the livestock industry. Assessment of metacercarial morphology, using light microscopy, offers a quick and relatively easy method to determine cyst viability. Excystment assays are another method used to determine metacercarial viability in the lab, each assay varying in design and ease to perform. The reagents used and the design of ‘C. E. Bennett excystment assay’ show promise as a method which is both easy to perform and potentially applicable to the determination of metacercarial challenge from pasture on farm. The aim of Chapter 2 was to evaluate the reliability of both light microscopy and the ‘C. E. Bennett excystment assay’ as methods to determine metacercarial viability. This was demonstrated on metacercariae subjected to one well researched factor of viability, temperature, and another lesser known factor of viability, salinity. The ability of the ‘C. E. Bennett excystment assay’ and light microscopy were evaluated to determine metacercarial viability; both were found to be unreliable. For this thesis a robust and reliable method of determining metacercarial viability was required: this was provided by the excystment method published by Hernández- González et al. (2010). Despite the poor excystment percentages obtained using the ‘C. E. Bennett excystment assay’, it was straightforward to perform. Shop-bought carbonated water was used to modify the excystment assay published by Hernández-González et al. (2010). This modified assay gave excystment percentages of 97% using ovine bile and 90% using bovine bile with freshly encysted metacercariae. Biotehničke nauke - Fitopatologija / Biotechnical sciences - Phytopathology

Za proučavanje diverziteta vrste F. graminearum odabran je 101 izolat iz kolekcije Laboratorije za fitopatologiju Instituta za kukuruz "Zemun Polje" koji su prethodno identifikovani konvencionalnim metodama na osnovu makroskopskih i mikroskopskih svojstava. Izolati su prikupljeni u periodu od 1993. do 2015. godine, a poreklom iz uzoraka pšenice (42), kukuruza (37) i ječma (22) iz 41 lokaliteta na teritoriji Srbije. Sa ciljem da se dobije uvid o rasprostranjenosti, prisustvu i diverzitetu vrsta Fusarium graminearum kompleksa (Fg) kao i o trihotecenskim hemotipovima u Srbiji, obavljena su proučavanja morfoloških, patogenih, toksigenih i filogenetskih svojstava odabranih izolata. Na osnovu svih proučenih svojstava utvrđeno je prisustvo tri vrste u okviru Fg kompleksa: Fusarium graminearum sensu stricto, Fusarium boothii i Fusarium vorosii. Po prvi put u Srbiji, detektovano je prisustvo F. boothii i F. vorosii patogena strnih žita i kukuruza u našoj zemlji. Na osnovu morfoloških, patogenih i toksigenih svojstava uočen je veliki diverzitet ispitivanih izolata. Rezultati analize morfoloških svojstava izolata F. graminearum ss, F. boothii i F. vorosii, ukazuju da ne postoje razlike među njima. Izolati vrste F. boothii i F. vorosii ispoljili su generalno slabiju patogenost u poređenju sa ostalim izolatima. Analiza potencijala produkcije mikotoksina deoksinivalenola i zearalenona ELISA i HPLC metodom ukazala je na varijabilnost između ispitivanih izolata. Određivanjem trihotecenskih hemotipova hemijskom analizom utvrđeno je da u Srbiji postoje dva hemotipa - 15ADON (dominantan) i 3ADON. Za razliku od hemijskih, molekularnim analizama na osnovu TRI3 i TRI12 gena, utvrđeno je prisustvo samo 15ADON hemotipa. Dobijeni rezultati o biodiverzitetu hemotipova su prvi nalaz u agroekološkim uslovima Srbije. Analiza nukleotidnih sekvenci tri genomska regiona (TEF−1α, β−tubulin i histon H3), pokazala je da postoje različiti potencijali za razdvajanje vrsta u okviru Fg kompleksa. Rezultati ove disertacije ukazali su na postojanje dve vrste u okviru Fg kompleksa (F. boothii i F. vorosii), koje do sada nisu identifikovane na teritoriji Srbije. Sekvenciranje ovih genomskih regiona odabranih izolata i njihovo poređenje sa referentnim izolatima kao i poređenje sa izolatima Fg kompleksa u svetu doprinelo je boljem poznavanju biodiverziteta ovih vrsta u Srbiji.

▼ This dissertation considers two approaches for testing hypotheses in unbalanced mixed linear models. The first approach is to construct a design with some type of structure or "partial" balance, so that some of the optimal properties of a completely balanced design hold. It is shown that for a particular type of partially balanced design certain hypothesis tests are optimal. The second approach is to study how the unbalancedness of a design affects a hypothesis test in terms of level and power. Measures of imbalance are introduced and simulation results are presented that demonstrate the relationship of the level and power of a test and the measures. The first part of this thesis focuses on error orthogonal designs which are a type of partially balanced design. It is shown that with an error orthogonal design and under certain additional conditions, ANOVA F-tests about certain linear combinations of the variance components and certain linear combinations of the fixed effects are uniformly most powerful (UMP) similar and UMP unbiased. The ANOVA F-tests for the variance components are also invariant, so that the tests are also UMP invariant similar and UMP invariant unbiased. For certain simultaneous hypotheses about linear combinations of the fixed effects, the ANOVA F-tests are UMP invariant unbiased. The second part of this thesis considers a mixed model with a random nested effect, and studies the effects of an unbalanced design on the level and power of a hypothesis test of the nested variance component being equal to zero. Measures of imbalance are introduced for each of the four conditions necessary to obtain an exact test. Simulations are done for two different models to determine if there is a relationship between any of the measures and the level and power for both a naive test and a test using Satterthwaite's approximation. It is found that a measure based on the coefficients of the expected mean squares is indicative of how a test is performing. This measure is also simple to compute, so that it can easily be employed to determine the validity of the expected level and power. Advisors/Committee Members: Birkes, David S. ▼ The microbial quality of irrigation water is critical to the prevention of contamination of fresh fruits and vegetables with enteric pathogens since polluted irrigation water is an important source of these pathogens contaminating fruits and vegetables in the field. This work examined the use of F+RNA phages as indicators of fecal contamination to assess the microbial quality of irrigation water. The different propagation profiles among subgroups of F+RNA phages may contribute to their distribution in the environment and the difference in their survival their persistence would not hinder their use for source tracking. It is rapid and sensitive to detect F+RNA phages based on monitoring phage-mediated release of β-galactosidase by a fluorescent or luminescent method. The later was more sensitive and detected 1.6 PFU/ml of F+RNA phages within three hours in the presence of Mg2+. The luminescent method was able to differentiate MS2 and Qβ when combined with anti-MS2 coat protein antibody. Disruptor filtration was an efficient and easy-to-perform approach to concentrate F+RNA phages, and more than 99% of phage particles in distilled water, wastewater treatment plant effluent and river water were removed after Disruptor filtration. As low as 0.16 PFU of F+RNA phages/100 ml of water were detected within three hours when Disruptor filtration was combined with the luminescent method. This allows rapid detection of potentially low levels of fecalcontamination, as well as reducing rates of false-negative results. Enzyme treatment with proteinase K and RNase A more readily degraded naked RNA or RNA from inactivated phage particles, and the enzyme treatment RT-PCR was effective at reducing false-positive signals encountered by RT-PCR alone. This provides more reliable information on the real risk of fecal contamination to human health in terms of the presence of infectious enteric pathogens. The ability of F+RNA phages to attach to isolated F pili provides the potential to selectively concentrate F+RNA phages by immobilized F pili (or their structural protein subunits), or to determine the infectivity of phage particles in combination with a detection method, such as RT-PCR. ▼ Chapter 1 gives an introduction on the physical and electronic properties of fluorine and the C-F bond. The application of fluorine in organic chemistry, which is mainly attributed to the electronic properties of fluorine is described. The role of fluorine in neuropsychiatric drug development and for influencing the conformational study of bioactive amines is also illustrated. Chapter 2 of the thesis describes the synthesis of the two fluorinated stereoisomers (2R, 3S) and (2S, 3S) 3-fluoro N-methyl–D-aspartate (NMDA). These were prepared as analogues to study the binding conformation of NMDA on the glutameric NMDA receptor. The (2S, 3S)-3-fluoro NMDA D-72 was successfully prepared from diethyl D-tartrate. The (2S,3R)- stereoisomer was prepared by separation of diastereoisomers generated by reaction of a meso- epoxide with an enantiomerically pure amine, followed by fluorination. Both the (2S,3R)- and (2R,3S)- enantiomers were prepared separately, however assignment of the absolute configuration to each enantiomer could not be unambiguously proven. The fluorinated 3F-NMDA stereoisomers were assessed by dose response analysis and TEVC analysis in the rat glutamate receptor. The biological results show that the (2S, 3S)-3F NMDA D-72 is a good agonist, whereas (2R, 3S)- and (2S, 3R)-3-fluoro NMDA are inactive stereoisomers. The result of this study indicates that (2S, 3S)-3F NMDA D-72 is the only relevant agonist that can access a conformation for binding to NMDA receptor. Chapter 3 describes the preparation of fluorinated analogues of the calcium receptor agonist Cinacalcet. The (2R,1’R)-123 and (2S,1’R)-124 fluoro Cinacalcet diastereoisomers were prepared from 3’-(trifluoromethyl)cinnamic acid and 3’’-SF₅-137 Cinacalcet was synthesized from pentafluorosulfanyl benzyl alcohol. The biological assessment in the calcium receptor (CaR) revealed that both (2R,1’R)-123 and (2S,1’R)-124 fluoro Cinacalcet is slightly lower in potency compared to the non-fluorinated Cinacalcet 117. This suggests that the Cinacalcet 117 adopts an extended conformation when bound to the receptor. The 3’’-SF₅-137 Cinacalcet possesses equipotent activity with Cinacalcet 117. Mon travail de thèse a pour objectif de caractériser à l’aide de l’imagerie par Topographie par Emission de Positons (TEP) au 18F-FDG et au 18F-FLT, chez le petit animal, l’évolution de l’hépatocarcinome en cours de traitement par chimiothérapie, protonthérapie et potentialisation. Le modèle animal correspondait à une xénogreffe sous-cutanée d’une souche d’hépatocarcinome, sk-hep1, chez la souris nude. La chimiothérapie par Topotécan était administrée aux doses de 12,5mg/kg ou 6,25mg/kg. Le protocole de protonthérapie comprenait une irradiation en une fraction de 5 Gy, 10 Gy ou 20 Gy. Les acquisitions TEP au 18F-FDG et au 18F-FLT étaient réalisées une fois par semaine. Les deux types d’imagerie TEP ont montré un intérêt pour le suivi du traitement par chimiothérapie, permettant de déterminer une sous-dose de Topotécan. Pour le suivi de la protonthérapie, le 18F-FLT était plus avantageux puisqu’il permettait d’individualiser une reprise tumorale pour les doses d’irradiation les plus faibles. Dans l’étude de la potentialisation, l’imagerie TEP n’a pas permis de mesurer un avantage thérapeutique du traitement par proto-chimiothérapie concomitante.

My thesis work consisted of closely monitor tumoral response of hepatocarcinoma inoculated to mice, using 18F-FDG and 18F-FLT PET imaging during chemotherapy, protontherapy and both. Tumoral model was Sk-hep1 cells xenograft inoculate in subcutaneous tissue to female 8-week-old athymic nude mice. Chemotherapy protocol included Topotecan deliver at 12,5mg/kg or 6,25mg/kg. Protontherapy was delivered in one fraction of 5 Gy, 10 Gy or 20 Gy. 18F-FDG and 18F-FLT PET imaging were performed once a week. Both 18F-FDG and 18F-FLT imaging permitted to follow chemotherapy efficacity, and to observe an insufficient dose of Topotecan at 6,25mg/kg. 18F-FLT was better to observe tumoral escape with lower doses of protontherapy. Concerning proto-chemotherapy protocol, TEP imaging could not individualize significant difference in favor of potentiation.

Tämä opinnäytetyö kertoo uusista selluloosapohjaisista tekstiilimateriaaleista. Työ tehtiin kirjallisuusselvityksenä ja siinä selvitettiin, mihin uusia tekstiilimateriaaleja tarvitaan sekä millaisia uusia selluloosaan perustuvia tekstiilimateriaaleja on kehitteillä. Tarkemmin tässä työssä kerrotaan Ioncell-F- ja Biocelsol-menetelmistä. Työssä käydään läpi myös selluloosapohjaisten tekstiilien historiaa ja tulevaisuuden näkymiä. Maailman väkiluku kasvaa, tämä ja monet muut syyt tekevät sen, että tekstiilejä tarvitsee tulevaisuudessa tuottaa huomattavasti nykyistä enemmän. Tällä hetkellä eniten tekstiileistä tuotetaan polyesteriä, joka on öljypohjainen materiaali. Öljyn käyttöä vähennetään tulevaisuudessa, öljyvarantojen vähenemisen vuoksi. Puuvillaa tuotetaan tekstiileistä toiseksi eniten. Puuvillan tuotanto kuluttaa paljon vettä sekä viljelyskelpoista maata. Puuvillapelloilta kulkeutuu luontoon myös viljelyssä käytettyjä ravinteita ja kemikaaleja. Ioncell-F on kehitetty Aalto-yliopiston ja Helsingin yliopiston yhteistyönä. Ioncell-F-menetelmässä sellu liuotetaan ionisen liuottimen avulla. Biocelsol-menetelmää on kehitetty Tampereen teknillisen yliopiston materiaalitekniikan laitoksella. Biocelsol-menetelmässä sellu käsitellään entsyymeillä, jonka jälkeen sellu saadaan liukenemaan emäksiseen liuottimeen. Suomessa myös kehitetään Spinnova Oy:n toimesta myös suoraan puukuidusta tapahtuvaa kehruuta. Uudet selluloosapohjaiset tekstiilimateriaalit ovat vielä kehitysasteella, joten niiden tulevaisuudessa on paljon epävarmuutta. Suomessa selluloosalle etsitään uusia käyttökohteita, ja tekstiilimateriaalit voivat hyvinkin olla yksi niistä. Uusien menetelmien menestyminen riippuu paljon siitä, kuinka taloudellisesti kannattavaksi ne saadaan. Tekstiilien kierrätys tulee lainsäädännön takia tulevaisuudessa lisääntymään. Selluloosapohjaisia tekstiilejä pystytään kierrättämään uudelleen alkuperäiseen käyttötarkoitukseen, tämä lisää niiden mahdollisuuksia tekstiilimarkkinoilla.

This thesis deals with new cellulose based textile materials. The aim of the thesis was to find out why new textile materials are needed and what kind of new cellulose based textile materials are developed. More closely, this thesis deals with Ioncell-F and biocelsol methods. The world’s population is growing, therefore more food and water is needed in the future. Cotton is the second most produced textile material in the world. The main problems with cotton is that cotton production needs a great deal of water and farmland. The most produced textile material is oil based polyester. Oil is a nonrenewable resource, therefore it is going to run out in the future or at least the price is going to rise a lot. Ioncell-F is manufactured with a new method where the cellulose dissolved to the ionic solvent. Ioncell method was developed in cooperation by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. ▼ We discuss classifications of UV complete supersymmetric theories in six dimensions, and (spin-)topological field theories admitting a finite global symmetry and possibly time-reversal symmetry in three dimensions. We also discuss a generalization of finite global symmetries and their gauging in two dimensions. First, we start with LSTs which are UV complete non-local 6D theories decoupled from gravity in which there is an intrinsic string scale. We present a systematic approach to the construction of supersymmetric LSTs via the geometric phases of F-theory. Our central result is that all LSTs with more than one tensor multiplet are obtained by a mild extension of 6D superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in which the theory is supplemented by an additional, non-dynamical tensor multiplet, analogous to adding an affine node to an ADE quiver, resulting in a negative semidefinite Dirac pairing. We also show that all 6D SCFTs naturally embed in an LST. Motivated by physical considerations, we show that in geometries where we can verify the presence of two elliptic fibrations, exchanging the roles of these fibrations amounts to T-duality in the 6D theory compactified on a circle. Second, we study the interpretation of O7₊-planes in F-theory, mainly in the context of the six dimensional models. In particular, we study how to assign gauge algebras and matter contents to seven-branes and their intersections, and the implication of anomaly cancellation in our construction, generalizing earlier analyses without any O7₊-planes. By including O7₊-planes we can realize 6d superconformal field theories hitherto unobtainable in F-theory, such as those with hypermultiplets in the symmetric representation of special unitary gauge algebra. We also examine a couple of compact models. These reproduce some famous perturbative models, and in some cases enhance their gauge symmetries non-perturbatively. Third, we argue that it is possible to describe fermionic phases of matter and spin-topological field theories in 2+1d in terms of bosonic "shadow" theories, which are obtained from the original theory by "gauging fermionic parity". The fermionic/spin theories are recovered from their shadow by a process of fermionic anyon condensation: gauging a one-form symmetry generated by quasi-particles with fermionic statistics. We apply the formalism to theories which admit gapped boundary conditions. We obtain Turaev-Viro-like and Levin-Wen-like constructions of fermionic phases of matter. We describe the group structure of fermionic SPT phases protected by the product of fermion parity and internal symmetry G. The quaternion group makes a surprise appearance. Fourth, we generalize two facts about oriented 3d TFTs to the unoriented case. On one hand, it is known that oriented 3d TFTs having a topological boundary condition admit a state-sum construction known as the Turaev-Viro construction. ▼ The increasing prevalence of antibiotic-resistance bacteria is threatening to end the antibiotic era established following Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin in 1928. Over-prescription and misuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics has hastened the development and spread of antibiotic resistance. This, combined with a lack of research and development (R&D) of new antibiotics by major pharmaceutical companies, may lead to a widespread recurrence of 'incurable' bacterial diseases. However while commercial R&D of antibiotics has waned, much research has been carried out to characterise bacteriocins, ribosomally-synthesised antimicrobial polypeptides thought to be produced by virtually all prokaryotes. Although hundreds of bacteriocins have been identified and characterised, only a handful of their cognate receptors on susceptible cells have been identified. Glycocin F is a bacteriostatic diglycosylated 43-amino acid bacteriocin produced by the Gram-positive bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum KW30 that inhibits the growth of a broad range of bacteria. The mechanism of action of glycocin F is unknown, however evidence suggested that glycocin F binds to cells via a N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) specific phosphoenolpyruvate:carbohydrate-phosphotransferase system (PTS) transporter, as had been shown for lactococcin A, lactococcin B and microcin E492 that target a mannose specific PTS transporter. These other bacteriocins are, however, bactericidal suggesting that glycocin F uses a different mechanism of action to stop cell growth. To test the hypothesis that one of the putative GlcNAc-specific PTS transporters identified in glycocin F-sensitive L. plantarum strains is the primary membrane receptor for glycocin F, a GlcNAc-specific PTS transporter gene knockout mutant was generated and analysed for glycocin F sensitivity. The GlcNAc-specific PTS transporter, pts18CBA, was successfully knocked out in L. plantarum NC8 which conferred the resulting L. plantarum NC8 Δpts18CBA a degree of resistance to glycocin F confirming the GlcNAc-specific PTS transporter is a receptor of glycocin F. Additionally the genomes of wild-type (glycocin F sensitive) L. plantarum ATCC 8014, L. plantarum subsp. plantarum ATCC 14917, and multiple glycocin F- resistant mutants of these two strains were sequenced, assembled and comparatively analysed to identify changes consistent with increased resistance to glycocin F. Mutations, mapped to pts18CBA in all sequenced mutants, appeared to be deleterious to both the structure and function of PTS18CBA. A correlation of glycocin F resistance to the degree of mutation in the transmembrane domain of the pts18CBA gene was established confirming that glycocin F targets the EIIC transmembrane domain of PTS18CBA.

▼ Bacteriocins have been deemed the “microbial weapon of choice”. The ability to ribosomally synthesise these toxins means that their peptide scaffolds can be rapidly adapted to optimise stability, potency and specificity, allowing producers to outgrow closely related strains and become dominant. In some cases, a bacteriocin may inhibit a broader spectrum of microbes than just its species/genus of origin. Recently, the bacteriocin glycocin F (GccF), produced byLactobacillus plantarum KW30, was biochemically and structurally characterised. GccF isunique, as it has two covalently linked N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) moieties, one O-linkedand one S-linked, that are critical for the inhibition of target cell growth. How GccF causes bacteriostasis in sensitive Lactobacillus cells was unknown. Experiments were developed and conducted to probe the antimicrobial spectrum of GccF and how thisspectrum is affected by free GlcNAc. It was found that a variety of species and strains, not just those closely related to L. plantarum KW30, were inhibited by the addition of GccF to cultures in solid or liquid media. Susceptible strains were identified in the genera Streptococcus, Enterococcus, and Bacillus. Interestingly, assays indicated that free GlcNAc plays a more dynamic role in modulating GccF activity than previously thought. The protective effect of high concentrations of GlcNAc, including the reversal of GccF-induced bacteriostasis, was confirmed for susceptible L. plantarum strains, but surprisingly addition ofrelatively low concentrations of GlcNAc prior to GccF led to a concentration-dependent increase in bacteriostasis for some other species including Enterococcus faecalis. GccF’s mechanism of action was found to be different to the bactericidal membrane-permeabilising effect of the lantibiotic nisin, as L. plantarum cells treated with GccF did not die, and there was no substantial release of ATP from cells upon GccF-induced bacteriostasis. It was also found that for Gram-negative bacteria, which are generally resistant to GccF, growth inhibition was greatly enhanced if the integrity of the outer membrane was compromised by treatment with polymyxin, or by expression of a ‘leaky’ mutant of the outer membrane secretin PulD. Thus GccF-mediated inhibition of growth is limited to Gram-positive bacteria mainly because of the barrier function of the Gram-negative outer membrane. Experiments to identify changes in E. faecalis V583 gene expression or the levels of specific proteins in response to free GlcNAc were inconclusive due to time constraints. Further research is needed to determine GccF’s exact mechanism of action. The results of experiments with GccF, with and without added GlcNAc, on a range of bacterialspecies led to a hypothetical model for the mechanism of action of GccF, specifically that GccF may be ‘hijacking’ GlcNAc-specific phosphotransferase system signalling pathways.This could disrupt normal GlcNAc metabolism, perhaps resulting in UDP-GlcNAc becominglimiting for peptidoglycan synthesis, thus preventing cell…

Im ersten Kapitel wird die Definition von Fontaine Modulen, die auf die inversen Cartier Transform setzt erinnern wir von Ogus und Vologodsky errichtet. Neben der Erinnerung an die urspruengliche Konstruktion des inversen Cartier Transform, eine direktere Konstruktion, die wir auch vorstellen von G.T. Lan, M. Sheng und K. Zuo. Darueber hinaus beweisen wir diernGleichwertigkeit der beiden Konstruktion.rnrnrnIm zweiten Kapitel werden wir uns daran erinnern, den Konstruktion von inversen Cartier Transform in der Log Einstellung von D. Schepler und verallgemeinern die Lan-Sheng-Zuo Konstruktion an dieser Einstellung. Darueber hinaus geben wir eine Definition von Log FontainernModulen. Im dritten Kapitel werden wir erinnern an die Definition von F-T-Kristall und beweisen das wichtigste Ergebnis dieser Arbeit: Sei Y eine glatte S_ν-Schema, wobei S_ν ist eine flache W_nu+1(k)-Schema, νgeq1, und X/S₀ seine Reduction modulo p sein. The main objective of this work is to study the relation between Fontaine modules and F-T-crystals. In the first chapter we review the definition of Fontaine modules, which relies on the inverse Cartier transform constructed by Ogus and Vologodsky. Besides recalling the original construction of inverse Cartier transform, we also introduce a more direct construction by G.T. Lan, M. Sheng and K. Zuo. Moreover, we prove the equivalence of these two construction.rnrnIn the second chapter we review the construction of inverse Cartier transform in the log setting by D. Schepler and generalize Lan-Sheng-Zuo's construction to this setting. Moreover, we give a definition of log Fontainernmodules.rnrnIn the third chapter we recall the definition of F-T-crystals and prove the main result of this work: Let Y be a smooth S_ν-scheme, where S_ν is a flat W_nu+1(k)-scheme, νgeq1, and X/S₀ be its reduction modulo p. Given an F-T-crystal (E,Phi,B) on Y of width less than p and let (E_Y ,B_Y ,nabla_Y) be the corresponding filtered O_Y-module endowed with an integrable connection. Then the reduction of this object modulo p defines a Fontaine module on X/S₀ in the sense of Ogus and Vologodsky.
