Kongresni turizam je važan činilac performansi koje se ostvaruju na nivou destinacije, pogotovo imajući u vidu da se poslednjih nekoliko godina beleži trend povećavanja broja međunarodnih događaja. Aktivnim nastupom na međunarodnom kongresnom tržištu, etablirane i nove destinacije nastoje da privuku što veći broj kongresa, jer se time doprinosi ukupnim performansama destinacije, ali i promociji lokalne ekspertize u oblasti iz koje se kongres organizuje. Da bi bile uspešne u tome, destinacije, nezavisno od nivoa razvoja, moraju da razumeju kompleksnost tržišta kongresnog turizma, kao i da implementiraju odgovarajuće tehnike menadžmenta destinacije. U disertaciji se analizira kongresno tržište i specifičnosti menadžmenta destinacije u kongresnom turizmu i istražuje uticaj kongresnog turizma na destinaciju. Istraživanje se odnosi na sistematizaciju aktivnosti menadžmenta destinacije na nivou kongresnog biroa i definisanje značaja aktivnosti kongresnog biroa za organizatore događaja. Disertacija ima za cilj utvrđivanje povezanosti između kongresnih performansi destinacije sa jedne strane i turističkih performansi, hotelskih performansi i ekonomskim rastom i razvojem destinacije, sa druge strane. U istraživanju se polazi od toga da je uspeh kongresne destinacije uslovljen destinacijskim menadžmentom. Pregled literature pokazuje da se menadžmentu destinacije pristupa sa strateškog aspekta, dominantno u sferi odmorišnog turizma, dok je pitanje menadžmenta destinacije u kongresnom turizmu predmet analize manjeg broja autora. Uvažavajući specifičnosti kongresnog turizma i analizirajući okvir menadžmenta destinacije, u disertaciji se predlaže sistematizacija aktivnosti menadžmenta destinacije na nivou kongresnog biroa koja se dalje detaljno analizira. Disertacija u obzir uzima i činjenicu da je kongresni turizam postavljen kao „quick win“ strateški proizvod za turizam Srbije. U disertaciji se istražuje činjenica da u prethodnim godinama kongresni turizam u Srbiji beleži značajne promene, zbog čega se posebno analiziraju kongresne performanse Srbije i razvoj kongresnih kapaciteta.

▼ Τhis thesis investigates the prospect of cultural tourism development and the association of this continuously developing form of tourism with the increasingly developing convention tourism. Museums and archaeological sites as pillars of cultural tourism are identified and investigated in two neighboring Greek islands which attract many visitors annually, Mykonos and Delos. It is worth mentioning that the infrastructure and the cultural resources services remain very low despite the high annual number of visitors and the average tourist expenditure in region, as Delos is an unaltered cultural resource and Mykonos an island with wide annual traffic.Cultural tourism is one of the major tourism sectors. The components that comprise the concept of cultural tourism are the museums and archaeological sites, which attract a large number of tourist visitors in a country, where the latter have a cultural incentive to visit it. Subsequently, convention tourism is analyzed, which includes organising and attending conferences, lectures, seminars, exhibitions, etc. Convention tourism is closely associated with culture, because through the organization of such events, a place is best known to the general public. In Greece, convention tourism is thriving, even though it lacks the appropriate infrastructures, such as a major international convention center in the capital.Then, cultural tourism in Greece is analysed, where room for improvement is identified because even though advantages and disadvantages of attracting tourist visitors are known, there are missing elements such as lack of infrastructure and personnel, proper organization of cultural centers and the inadequacy financial resources. Subsequently, the market of cultural tourism is analyzed, both from the supply perspective and from the demand perspective, as these two forces are necessary for the identification of incentives and trends that enhance the cultural development of a country. So I identified some important cultural management issues, especially in Greece, where there is a need to improve the quality of cultural services for tourist visitors.As for the empirical part of the dissertation, it investigates the development of cultural tourism in Greece in relation to the convention tourism and took place in the islands of Delos and Mykonos. The survey was conducted by distributing 600 questionnaires in six languages, including Greek, of which 327 were answered. The results of this analysis showed that guests said they are occasional and regular visitors of museums and historical sites during their travels, while a significant part of them is planning to participate or attend cultural events, concluding that they belong to the group of general cultural tourists. This finding is compatible with the demographic characteristics of visitors such as age, education and social level of the participants, as well as the visit motivation and source of information.The results further showed that the present cultural areas require immediate improvement actions.
