近年の無線LAN の発達に伴い、メッシュネットワークが注目されている。将来はメッシュネットワークを利用したLocation -aware なサービスが普及すると予想される。そこで本研究ではモバイルエージェントを用いたLocation-aware アプリケーションの実現を想定する。しかし、メッシュネットワーク上ではモバイルエージェントが無線LAN エリア間の物理距離関係を把握することが困難になる。そこで本研究では、メッシュネットワーク上に位置関係に基づいたオーバーレイネットワークを構築することで、無線LAN エリア間の距離関係の把握を実現した。また新規ノードの追加にはGeocast を用いることで少ないメッセージ量による追加を実現し、さらに実験によりその性能を示した。
