Сматрамо да се основано може поставити питање: да ли је парламент још увек носилац законодавне власти, или парафразирајући Хобса: претпоставља се ко је законодавац, али да ли се и зна? Предмет ове дисертације су ограничења са којима се парламент данас суочава приликом вршења своје нормативне улоге. Та ограничења су унутрашње и спољашње природе, класична и нова. У модерном времену, у којем су ефикасност и брзина кључна очекивања, чини се да парламент као законодавац губи дах и суочава се са бројним ограничењима у извршавању своје – како се вековима сматрало – „основне функције”: законодавне надлежности. Теза да тежиште власти све више прелази на егзекутиву и у земљама са парламентарним системом државне власти није више новина. Парламент се, међутим, не суочава само са лимитима које пред њега стављају надлежности владе у законодавном поступку. Кључна улога политичких партија, релативизација класичног појма суверености и други, до сада недовољно истражени лимитирајући фактори законодавне улоге парламента доводе до модификације његове функције у савременој држави. Циљ дисертације је да кроз пажљиву селекцију неопходних стручних извора и ослањајући се на деценијско искуство у својству народног посланика у Народној скупштини Републике Србије прецизно утврдимо и рационално истражимо сазнања и изразимо научни став о улози савременог парламента у светлости ограничења његове законодавне функције. Пошли смо од хипотезе да је законодавна функција парламента сужена због устава као бедема, због активности владе као све значајнијег актера законодавства, политичких странака, односно нових учесника у законодавном поступку с једне стране, као и због релативизације суверености у условима међународних интеграција и утицаја глобалних економских токова с друге стране, што све доводи до модификације улоге савременог парламента.

Subjects/Keywords: The following question can be raised: Are parliaments still the true bearers of the legislative power; or paraphrasing Hobbes: it is assumed who the legislator is; but is it also known? The subject of this thesis are the limits that parliaments are facing today while exercising their normative roles. These limitations are both internal and external; and may be traditional or of new origin. Today efficiency and speed are key expectations; it seems that parliaments as legislators are losing their breath and are facing many limitations in their role that has for centuries been their ”basic one”: their legislative role. The fact that the focus of power is increasingly shifting towards the executive branch of power even in countries with parliamentary systems of governance is not a novelty anymore. Parliaments; however; do not only face the limits placed before them by the governments throughout the legislative process. The key role of political parties; the relativization of the classical concept of sovereignty; and other limiting factors of the legislative role of parliaments; which need further examination; may lead to the modification of their functions in modern states. The aim of the dissertation is to through thoroughly selected scientific sources and relying on a decade-long experience as Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia precisely determine and rationally examine and draft an academic position about the role of parliaments today with regard to the limitations in their legislative function. We started off from the hypothesis that the legislative function of parliaments is set by the constitution; and narrowed by the ever increasing role of the governments in the legislative process; by political parties and other participants in the legislative procedure; as well as by the relativization of national sovereignty in the framework of international integration and also by the impact of global economic flows.

▼ East Africa Legislative Assembly is the legislative arm of the EAC. It’s mandated to exercise legislative powers on behave of the community and therefore has a major role to play in the achievement of the goal of integrating the East African region. Despite the fact that regional integration brings about both the internal and external growth, it is also faced with a lot of challenges that slow down its pace. Although some African leaders do support the process of regional integration, it still lugs behind as compared to some regional integrations around the world. Although this slow pace of the process can be attributed to the fact that Africa is comprised mostly of least developed countries, there are other challenges as well. Based on these issues, this research seeks to investigate the role of legislative bodies in Africa’s regional integration. Key objectives of this study is to determine the pace of regional integration in Africa; to examine the powers of the legislative assembly over member states of the East African Community and evaluate the extent at which these powers affect the conduct of member states in regard to their commitments to regional integration. Key Questions therefore are; what is the pace of regional integration in Africa? What are the powers of the legislative assembly over member states of the East African Community? To what extent do these powers affect the member states in regard to their commitments to regional integration? The Liberal Intergovernmentalism theory is the main theory used in this study. Different studies been conducted on the effectiveness of regional integration in relation to the accomplishment of the set objectives mostly focusing on the effects of integration on economic growths. In the case of East African Community, the East African Legislative Assembly was established to oversee the formulation of laws that facilitate integration in the East African Community. Nonetheless, there has been no study carried out to establish the role played by the Assembly in achievement of regional integration objectives and hence this study. The research employed the use of the descriptive research design. Descriptive method is applied in the identification and achievement of information based on the characteristics of certain issues and the data collected are quantitative in nature. In addition, the statistical techniques are employed in the process of summarizing information. The study established that several achievements have been realized in EAC. Regional integration process is deepening particularly due to the expanding scope of the legislative instruments, coordination of national economic and social policies, the expansion of trade between EAC countries as well as its trade with the rest of the world. ▼ The general objective of this study was to assess the preschool education and competence of preschool teachers and to significance the role and competence of the leaders who play a critical role in preparing and supporting those teachers. The study would also make to point out possible measures to improve the preschool teachers’ competence. To achieve this objective a descriptive survey research that was employed. In the present study, both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. The quantitative data were gathered through a questionnaire from 75 preschool teachers teaching in private school, 15 preschool principals and 20 Wereda supervisors. The qualitative data were gathered through interviews with a group of participants selected from the Addis Ababa education bureau and preschool trainers working in training institute preschool trainers working in training institute. The major findings that low teacher salaries and high turnover, teachers’ insufficient knowledge of subject matter were the challenges identified in the study. A number of factors affected the accomplishment of leaders’ roles and responsibilities. In this regard, lack of proper coaching and supervision as well as coordination was found to be practiced at low level. It has become known that the trainings so far provided to kindergarten teachers had not brought about significant impacts in improving teachers’ performance. It didn’t also improve teachers’ vision of professionalism as well as confidence. To this end, the recommendation is teachers’ training institutes should maximize efforts to produce well trained preschool teachers available in the schools. Continuous in service trainings should be provided for preschool teachers who are already in the service so that the quality of their teaching would be improved and provide continuous training and quality improvement efforts to all preschool teachers and programs and. Effective and continuous supervision has to be conducted to support teachers employ various and important teaching methods, as well as to help them improve their teaching competence. ▼ Women constitute a very important part and parcel of the population of any particular country. Therefore their contribution towards various development projects in terms of identification, initiation and propagation of development agendas including the management of various devolved funds, cannot just be over emphasized. This research is tasked with the responsibility of assessing the role played by women who form an important and integral part of the society and also since they are taxpayers they contribute towards the finances that fund these development projects within Njoro Sub-County, Nakuru County. The study will focus on three independent variables. These are the various factors that will determine whether or not women have been adequately represented in the management of devolved funds within the sub county. These include: leadership roles for women within these oversight committees, women participation in all the processes undertaken in the utilization of these funds, and the management skills of the women who take part in the management of these funds. The study was based on social constructivism theory which assumes that knowledge is constructed socially by people and that both individuals and groups create their own perceived realities therefore reality is socially configured. The study looks at women’s role in the governance and ownership of projects of devolved funds a case study of Kanduyi Constituency in Bungoma County and also the gender gap in water resource management in Nile basin countries a case study for rural women in Uganda. Descriptive research design was applied in the study whose objective was to portray an accurate profile of persons, events or situations. To get the required sample size we used the krejcie and Morgan’s formulae and since the population drawn may not be homogeneous stratified sampling based on the wards was used so as to get a representative sample.The data collected was edited for completeness, correctness and consistency. The data was then coded and classified for easy tabulation. The data was then analysed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The study findings revealed that a majority of the residents of Njoro sub-county don’t think that women play any meaningful roles in the management committees in which they serve and also do not adhere to the laid down regulations in the management of the devolved funds. The study found out that only 29% of the members of these management committees are female. Most of the respondents (60%) thought that the participation of women in management of devolved funds is ineffective. This study found that 66% of all the respondents, including 80% of all women interviewed think that women are not adequately represented in the management committees. This notwithstanding, the majority agreed to the fact that one’s technical expertise affects their performance in management. ▼ The family is usually the major source of the basic necessities which is made possible by the prevailing socio-economic, environmental and sometimes political conditions. However, the structure of family influences the provision of the basic needs to the adolescents and hence their school attendance and concentration in class. This study sought to examine the role of family structure and parenting on the academic performance of teenage children, to establish the types of family structure, to identify the characteristics of different types of family structure, to examine the relationship between family structure and school related activities among teenagers, to establish the effect of family structure on academic performance of teenagers and to examine how family structure in relation to socio-economic status influence the academic performance of teenagers. This research study used a descriptive research design. The target population of this study was 385 3rd year students and teachers in the four public secondary schools. In addition, this study used systematic sampling method to select 20 percent of the target population. The sample size of this study was 77 respondents and 8 teachers. The study used primary data which was collected by use of questionnaires; which included structured and unstructured questions. Quantitative data was analyzed by use of descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of a data analysis software, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPPS). The study also used correlation analysis to establish the relationship between the dependent variable and independent variables. The study found that there is an association between socio-economic status and parenting and academic performance of students in secondary schools. Family structure influences self-esteem, class concentration, parental support, school attendance and tardiness, parent-teenager relationship among teenagers. The study also revealed that school fees payments, healthy cognitive and social development and the provision of good uniform (clothing) influence the academic performance of the teenagers significantly. The various stakeholders in the education sector need to come up with strategies to identify various backgrounds of different students in their schools. This may enable them to understand clearly the nature of each student and thus being able to handle them with ease and appropriateness so as not to hamper the educational progress. In addition, there is also need for guidance and counseling processes in the public secondary schools. The main role of these counseling sessions may be to encourage and motivate the students to see beyond their limitations and put more focus on the future through persistence and determination in their education.

▼ The Kenyan stock market has experienced poor performance since it was formed in 1954. Over these years, the market has experienced low turnover, low market capitalization and the stagnation of the number of listed companies. This study was therefore designed to identify factors limiting the development of emerging stock markets- The case of Nairobi Stock exchange. The study establishes that both external (macro economic and social cultural factors) and market (legal, regulatory and institutional) factors have constrained the development of the Kenyan stock market. External constraints identified are: low income (savings) levels, corruption in the private and public sector, high corporate tax rates and investment behaviors of "buy and hold" exhibited by Kenyan investors. The study also identified the following market constraints: poor publicity of the opportunities available at the stock market, absence of an automated trading system, insufficient number of products at the stock market to attract the investing public (reason for illiquidity in market), lack of a central Depository system (CDS), ceilings placed on foreign investor, restrictive rules and regulation for both the NSE and CMA and inadequate disclosure of information by listed companies. The conclusion is that an integrated approach encom-pa.ssing both external and internal (market) factors should be used to foster the development of the stock market. This study recommends a campaign to educate the Kenyan public, tax rebates for listed companies, establishment of a central depository system, prudent macro economic policies, an appropriate policy for collective investment schemes, NSE to implement automated trading system, the regulators to playa supportive and facilitative role in addition to being regulators, an appropriate corporate governance policy and a review of ceilings placed on foreign investors. In addition, the Kenyan stock market should be market oriented rather than being product oriented.

▼ The entrepreneurial orientation of an organization is described as a dimension of strategic posture represented by a firm's risk taking propensity and the tendency to act in a competitively aggressive, proactive manner while relying frequently on product innovation. Organizations are said to have entrepreneurial orientation when a group of innovative members of the organization work together to produce fresh ideas and they are accorded a conducive atmosphere to act on those ideas .Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important economic role in many countries the world over. The background information of the study indicates that SMEs are faced by constant threat of failure and most do not graduate into large enterprises. Past studies indicate that the SMEs sector in Kenya is characterized by high mortality rate for every five started three fail before the sixth month; over 60% fail each year; and most do not survive to their third anniversary. Nairobi County receives the highest revenue allocation to counties accounting for approximately 10% of the total national allocation (Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, 2015). The county‟s infrastructure is relatively well developed with a good communications system. It‟s the country‟s industrial base, is estimated to account for 20% of the country‟s GDP. In spite of their economic importance to the county, the failure rate of SMEs in Nairobi is between 70% and 80%. This casts doubt on this sector‟s ability to create and sustain employment which reduces poverty. The lack of SME growth in Nairobi could perhaps be attributed to them lacking the needed entrepreneurial orientation. The study sought to investigate the role of entrepreneurial orientation on the growth of small and medium enterprises in Nairobi County. The research study used an exploratory research study. The target population was the registered SMEs in Nairobi County. This comprised a total of all the 2248 registered SMEs business with Nairobi County. The sample size of this study was therefore 226 SME respondents. Data collection was done using semi-structure questionnaires. A descriptive analysis was employed. Multiple regressions were used to measure the quantitative data which was analyzed using SPSS. Tables and other graphical presentations were used to present the data collected for ease of analysis and interpretation. Risk taking was found to be a critical factor of entrepreneurial orientation on the growth of small and medium enterprises. In terms of magnitude, the findings indicated that risk taking had the highest effect on growth of Nairobi Smes followed by Pro-activeness, then innovativeness which had the least effect on growth of small and medium enterprises. All the variables were significant as their P-values were less than 0.05. It can be concluded that risk taking has the highest effect on growth of small and medium enterprises. Naujoji švietimo vadyba grįsta keturiomis vadybos funkcijomis ir orientuota į sistemingą švietimo sistemos bei atskiros švietimo organizacijos tikslų siekimą. Tyrimo objektas - mokinių adaptacija pagrindinėje mokykloje bei sėkmingą mokymąsi sąlygojantys veiksniai. Darbo tikslas - ištirti mokinių adaptaciją pagrindinėje mokykloje bei nustatyti sėkmingą mokymąsi sąlygojančius veiksnius. Taikomi tyrimo metodai: literatūros analizė ir sintezė; interpretavimas; apibendrinimas; interviu; anketinė apklausa; statistiniai skaičiavimai. Tyrimo imtis. Kokybinis tyrimas (interviu) buvo vykdomas su penkiais iš aštuonių auklėtojų. Darbą sudaro: Darbą sudaro trys pagrindinės dalys: teorinė, metodologinė, analitinė. New education management is founded on four management functions and is orientated to the systematic education system‘s and separate organization‘s goals. Study object – the determining factors of the students‘ adaptation and successful learning in the secondary school. Aim of the work - to analyse students‘ adaptation in the secondary school and to identify the causing factors of successful learning. Study methods applied: the analysis and synthesis of the literature; interpretation, generalisation; interview, questionary, statistical calculations.The sample of the survey. The work contains three basic parts: academic, methodological, analytical. Academic part introduces a concept of adaptation process, the problem of students‘ adaptation is analysed, the factors causing successful learning are presented, as well as the specifics of the school as an organization and peculiarity of management in the context of education management standarts. In the methodological part the program of the survey is introduced. Data of a qualitative and quantitative survey is analysed and interpretated.

▼ South Africa’s labour legislation has recently undergone momentous changes, in particular, the changes relating to section 198B of the Labour Relations Act (LRA) 66 of 1995. These amendments have proven to be more contentious than any other changes implemented by government in past years. The purpose of this study is to examine and outline the specific implications that the amendments to legislation regarding fixed-term contracts have on a pension and provident fund company in Gauteng, South Africa. This research will therefore highlight the implications (positive and negative) concerning the changes to section 198B on a pension and provident fund organisation in Gauteng, South Africa. The qualitative investigatory study was conducted with six employees of a pension and provident fund company which makes use of fixed term contract employees, until data saturation was reached. The data was collected by means of individual in depth interviews. The results of the study clearly indicate that the changes to section 198B will have both negative and positive implications. Some of the negative implications are that organisation have had to incur increased employment costs as a result of having to provide equal benefits and conditions of employment to all fixed term contract employees. Organisations now have to review the necessity of deploying fixed term contracts and where required to do away with such contracts. The implication here is that, the employment flexibility which organisations previously had has now been removed. Some of the positive implications are that, a few employees who had been on fixed term contracts were employed on a permanent basis after the changes came into effect. Employees experienced greater job security and were offered much needed benefits such as medical aid, pension and disability benefits. Permanent and fixed term contract employees are now treated equally. Part-time employees have better job security and the enhanced ability to enforce statutory rights in terms of equal treatment in employment by evoking enforcement mechanisms such as the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), labour courts and bargaining councils with jurisdiction to arbitrate matters. ▼ The study investigated the procurement challenges faced by SMMEs in the public sector in the Department of Public Works within the eThekwini Metropolitan area in the Kwazulu-Natal province. The research objectives were: to identify challenges faced by SMMEs in accessing procurement opportunities; to establish how government seeks to enhance SMME participation in public procurement; to assess SMME perceptions of effectiveness of the current system of government targeted procurement in the public construction sector and to make recommendations pertaining to the most appropriate approach to assist SMMEs in accessing public procurement opportunities in the construction sector. The study adopted mixed methods approach to investigate the research phenomenon. Phenomenological approach was used as the research philosophy in the investigation of the research phenomenon. The target population was the government officials at Department of Public Works within the eThekwini Metropolitan area and emerging contractors, which were 215. A sample size of 138 respondents was selected using both systematic and purposive sampling techniques. Data collection instruments used were a close and open-ended questionnaires and a semi-structured interviews. A pilot study was conducted before the full-scale investigation took place. The reliability and validity of the research instrument were achieved through Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and factor analysis. The data gathered from the respondents were analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 25.0. The study found that the challenges confronting the construction SMMEs include government regulations (94.6%), financial related challenges, human resources management related challenges (91.3%), supply chain management related challenges (96.8%) and quality management related challenges (89.9%). The study further found that the construction SMMEs contribute to economic growth through job creation (95.2%), equity redress (93.7%), socio-economic development (89.7%), innovation (91.5%), poverty reduction (93.7%) and income generation (91.7%). The study recommends the following: access to more funding for the construction SMMEs, creation of enabling business environment, flexible government regulations, access to procurement opportunities, access to information, mentorship programmes for emerging contractors and provision of workshops and training and development for emerging contractors. ▼ This study is generally about the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the maintenance of international peace and security using the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as a case study. Consequently, it examined the effect that the ICC has had in contributing to peace and security in Africa before discussing the ICC‟s intervention and impact in DRC and finally concluded with a number of recommendations towards making the ICC‟s role more effective in maintenance of international peace and security. The study set out two hypotheses. First, that the ICC has played a significant role in promoting peace and security in the world and secondly that there are impeding factors that promote or impede to the effectiveness of this role. The study, which relied largely on secondary data supported by intermediate primary data from interviews of key informants including a thematic approach to presentation of information, was situated broadly within the idealism theory and within it also located within the liberalism theory. The study found that the ICC has a significant role to play in the maintenance of international peace and security that has been recognized globally, not only by individual states like the DRC that have referred cases to it, but also from international institutions such as the United Nations Security Council, which has also referred situations such as in Darfur and Libya to the ICC. The study established that the ICC has had both a positive and negative impact on peace and security and has also suffered challenges that have limited its role in promoting peace and security. The place of justice within the peace, security and reconciliation debate has been emphasized in this study, with this concepts being found to be mutually co-existent and not necessarily exclusive of each other. The study found that there are opportunities that exist that would bolster the role of the ICC in the achievement and maintenance of peace and security at national, regional as well as international levels. Lastly, the study has given recommendations on how to enhance the role of the International Criminal Court as a key global judicial institution in the maintenance of international peace and security. These include the need to have stronger complementary public institutions to the ICC at the national level, ensuring meaningful justice, limiting practices and factors that undermine peace and reconciliation, adoption of integrated approaches to justice and enhancing the universality of international criminal justice through universal ratification and domestication of the Rome Statute of the ICC.

▼ Youth entrepreneurship is an emerging area of interest in entrepreneurial study and not yet fully developed in Kenya. This is because entrepreneurship is a critical component of economic growth and business development is becoming the best alternatives for young people facing unemployment in most developing countries. The study intended to establish the influence of selected factors on the growth and development of youth entrepreneurship in Nairobi County. Descriptive analysis was used in transforming the raw data into a form that can be easily understood and interpreted such as mean, frequencies and percentages. The study used a descriptive research design. The study was conducted in the Nairobi city which is the capital city of Kenya and where the headquarters of all government offices are located. The choice of Nairobi city was also influenced by the reason that there was a high population of the youth engaging in entrepreneurship that cut across all 42 tribes in the country. In this study, the population of interest was youth aged between 18 years to 35 years who have established ventures and operate within Nairobi at the time of study. It was also the jobless youth within this age bracket who have not thought of starting any venture within the same area. The study targeted 30252 SMEs in all the 9 sub counties in Nairobi County. Based on Krejcie and Morgan model, 379 SMEs were selected from 30252 SMEs in the study area. The study combined both non probabilistic and probabilistic methods. Area cluster sampling was also used to overcome the problem of high sampling cost associated with simple random sampling. Descriptive and inferential analysis was conducted. The findings of descriptive analysis revealed that there was a slow growth among SMEs owned by the youth in Nairobi County. The study further established that youth enterprises in Nairobi County vi had low credit accessibility. The findings showed that majority of the youth in Kenya failed to grow their enterprises because of the costs and tedious process associated with registration of businesses. The findings also showed that youth with technical skills were better off in growing their enterprises. The findings further implied that mentorship was important to the growth of youth enterprises. The correlation results indicated that credit accessibility was positively and significantly related to growth of youth enterprises. Government policies were found to be positively and significantly associated with growth of youth enterprises. The findings further indicated existence of a strong and significant association between Technical Skills and Growth of Youth Enterprises. In conclusion, the government should not underestimate the contribution of youth enterprises on social and economic wellbeing. The study recommended that financial institutions should develop affordable and innovative measures to secure credit in support for the youth.

▼ Retirement benefits schemes play a fundamental role in an economy as the driving force of savings towards retirement. Specifically, occupational pension schemes are a major source of retirement income for many Kenyans. Retirement benefits therefore have a big impact on the financial well-being of a retiring person, and a ‘wrong’ decision cannot be undone at a later stage as retirement benefits scheme members may be left without money after retirement. Financial insecurity is one of the main factors that lead to poverty in retirement, which is witnessed in Kenya today. The Retirement Benefits Act 1997 and Regulations have been amended severally since their enactment which has improved the protection of scheme member’s benefits. We are however seeing a few loopholes that need to be sealed in order for benefits held in occupational pension schemes to be completely protected. This study has shown that non-remittance of monthly contributions by employers, misappropriation of scheme assets by the trustees, loss of scheme funds through negligence of trustees and poor investment of the scheme assets, continue to be problems that need to be watched in order to avoid loss of members’ benefits under occupational pension schemes. The purpose of this study was to identify why occupational pension schemes are still encountering the aforementioned problems. Many factors were critically analyzed, including the weaknesses in the Retirement Benefits Act 1997 and it Regulations that have been exploited to an extent that scheme assets and funds have been affected negatively. The findings of the study revealed that the retirement benefits laws are not adequately equipped to avert the risks that lead to loss of retirement benefits. The study also reviewed certain shortfalls within the role of Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA). It was noted that RBA does not have sufficient powers to implement the current retirement benefits laws as well as protect benefits fully. The study revealed that retirement benefits directly affect the citizens’ well-being and life after retirement. When retirement benefits are well taken care of, they have the effect of reducing poverty during retirement as well as increasing the gross domestic product for countries.

▼ Paper 1: This study focused on personal education plans for children in care and the related research around individual education plans. Children in care have been identified by the government and local authorities as a vulnerable group, at risk of failing to fully access education (DCSF, 2010). This paper examines the role of the educational psychologist in supporting children in care. There are three aims; 1. to explore the current role and work of educational psychologists in supporting children in care across local authorities, and within one local authority, 2. to generate, a more in-depth understanding of educational psychologists’ practice regarding children in care. 3. to use the analysis to formulate a framework that will inform an intervention to enhance the personal education plan process. Mixed methods were used to investigate the current role and view of educational psychologists and those involved in the personal education plan (PEP) process. The methods included online surveys, hardcopy questionnaires and semi structured interviews, which produced both qualitative and quantitative data. The findings of this research suggest that EPs most often work with Children in Care in school, and this seems to involve consultations, planning and reviewing meetings at a multiagency level. This study reports that EPs are not often involved in the PEP process but that most EPs have an understanding of the purpose of PEPs. A summary of the distinct contribution EPs believe they have to offer children in care has been presented, and the findings could provide EPs with improved role clarity in the future. A number of themes were also identified that would support the PEP process and a framework has been created that has the potential to enhance the process. Paper 2 - Collaborative Consultation: Background: Children in care (CiC) have consistently underperformed educationally, compared to other children. Personal Education Plans (PEP) were introduced to address this issue. This study aims to implement a PEP intervention (based on a framework from Paper 1) to enhance the educational experience of the child and explore the distinct contribution of the educational psychologist (EP). Method: Action Research was used to structure an intervention and gather the pre and post evaluation data in four case studies. The intervention consisted of an assessment of the child; there were three collaborative consultations with those involved in the PEP and attending the PEP meeting. Data collected include child assessments, notes from consultations, pre and post questionnaires and post semi-structured interviews with the professional. Results: The findings suggest the intervention had a positive impact on the PEP process and how those completing the PEP felt about the process. Changes to the child’s independent functioning could not be attributed to the intervention. The analysis developed and supports the finding in the framework from Paper 1. ▼ The method that is used is this doctoral thesis is the historical – critic and interpreted one. Specifically the historical, social, economic and cultural environment, in which st. Kosmas Aitolos lived and acted, is examined and analyzed. Simultaneously the pedagogical views reflected through his preaching are analyzed, scrutinized under the optics and the bounds of the Orthodox Christian Education. This study is divided in five chapters. The first chapter is titled: «The life of st. Kosmas Aitolos and the general status quo in Greek countryside at that time». Specifically it’s about the life of st, Kosmas Aitolos and the first course of general education, about st. Kosmas Aitolos and the first course of general education, about st. Kosmas Aitolos himself as a student in Athonias school, the undertaking of his missionary work and at last the economic, social and cultural tyranny of the enslaved Greeks at that time. The second chapter has the title: «The meaning of Education, the educational condition and experiences of st. Kosmas Aitiolos and his Ministration at the place of the Greek – Orthodox Education of the enslaved Nation». It includes the concepts (the meaning) of Education in general and its connection with Greek – Orthodox heritage and its depictions in st. Kosmas Aitolos preaching. Then the educational conditions and experiences of st. Kosmas Aitolos, specifically: The foreign philosophers and pedagogues’ like John Locke, Jean Jeacques Rousseau, Immanuel Kant and Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi as well as the Greek philosophers and pedagogues’ like Eugenios Bulgaris, Nikolaos Zarzoulis or Tzarzjoulis, Iosipos Misiodakas and Adamantios Korais influences on pedagogical thinking of st. Kosmas Aitolos. Finally, the ministration of the Greek – Orthodox Education of st. Kosmas Aitolos is scrutinized. Τhe third chapter is title: «The main orientation of the Pedagogical thinking and act in the preaching of st. Kosmas Aitolos and the individual aims of his teaching». The chapter in these includes: the main orientations of the pedagogical thinking and act in st. Kosmas Aitolos preaching like the barriers in islamization of enslaved Greeks, the keeping of the state of separate existence as main characteristic of their Nation and the encouragment and strengthening for the correspondence of the enslaved people to the difficult conditions of life. Also, this chapter refers to the main individual aims of the preaching of st. Kosmas Aitolos such as the acknowledgement of the equality of men and women and the equality of human rights, the consolidation of the need of prevalence of the Law and Justice, the critical attitude towards the wealth ant usury, the realization of the necessity of labour and the importance of Sanday’s holiday. ▼ Project management (PM) plays a significant role in achieving the company’s goal and objectives. Due to its significant role, it is essential that the project managers use processes which remain focussed on the company’s business strategy. However, some implementations of the company’s business strategy have led to failures as a result of misalignment between project management and the company’s business strategy. Such misalignment has an impact on both the project management and business strategy and may lead to problems in the overall functioning of the business, including the implementation of the company’s business strategy through the projects. This research was undertaken to investigate the problem of aligning project management process with the company’s business strategy which has not been fully investigated to-date. This investigation aims to provide a deeper understanding and more holistic analysis of the key factors, such as stakeholders and contextual factors (AF), which enable or inhibit this alignment in order to develop a conceptual framework that addresses this research gap. This study examines and analyses the alignment process, by considering the key factors at the early planning phase of project management. To address the research gap, the study employs a qualitative, multiple case study approach in the interpretive paradigm. Data was collected via interviews of senior personnel (executives and project managers), mainly from three managerial levels of the organisation, including corporate, business, and functional levels in four telecommunication companies of the private sector in Saudi Arabia. The investigation was carried out by collecting data through semi-structured interviews to critically explore collectively the perspectives of the executives and the project managers on their experience of managing and executing the company’s business strategy and the projects. Written and electronic documentations as well as non-participant observations also served as important triangulation and complementary sources in understanding the phenomenon being studied and as a means of gaining additional perspectives and further insights on key issues. This study provides a novel contribution to the alignment process of project management to business strategy. The original contribution and findings of this study contribute to the growing body of knowledge of project management by developing a practical framework to benefit both academics and practitioners and to increase awareness of the alignment process. This holistic conceptual framework includes two sets of factors that impact the alignment process. Additionally, it provides a unique prescriptive standard and a code of practice for practitioners seeking to realise efficient and effective alignment.
