▼ Problems related to apparel fit stem from a variety
of factors, such as an outdated anthropometric database from which
sizing systems could be developed, lack of and/or inadequate
classified body forms, non-standardised communication of sizing and
fit and non-standardised fit quality management, amongst the
clothing industries (Chun-Yoon&Jasper, 1996; Holzman, 1996;
Winks, 1997; Desmarteau, 2000; Anderson, Brannon, Ulrich, Presley;
Woronka; Grasso&Stevenson, 2001; Ashdown, 2003;
Simmons&Istook, 2004). Anthropometric data in Kenya was taken
in 1975 and the measurements were obtained from girls and women of
Kenya’s learning institutions and organisations (KEBS, 2001). The
source of the original data from which the size tables were derived
is obscure, to authenticate the quality of the techniques and
instruments used for the data collection. Apparently, there is no
known research that has been carried out on clothing anthropometry,
sizing (body measurements) and fit (body shape) for women. In the
absence of representative sizing systems, wrong styles and sizes
based on estimates and not on the actual sizes and body shapes of
women consumers in Kenya, contribute to fit problems. Consumers’
lack of knowledge about size (body measurements) and fit (body
shape) issues also contributes to the disillusionment, confusion
and inappropriate apparel selection. Consumers’ fit preferences
contribute to fit problems, if the available styles do not consider
consumers’ body shapes, and even further, if the consumers are
uninformed about their shapes and how to dress accordingly. The aim
of this research was therefore to identify and describe distinctive
female body shapes of career women in Kenya using body dimensions
and photographs, to describe the differences between the emerging
distinctive body shapes (measurements and photographs) and the
Western distinctive shapes, and to finally describe and analyse
implications for the fit of apparel associated with the emerging
distinctive body shapes of Kenya’s career women. It also intended
to assess and describe career women’s self-perceived fit issues
with the ready-made apparel in Kenya, to determine and describe
Kenyan career women’s knowledge about the communication of size
(key body dimensions) and fit (body shapes), and also to determine
and describe career women’s fit preferences for differently fitted
apparel items in Kenya. This research is descriptive as an attempt
is made to describe and understand body shape(s) and tendencies in
consumers’ behaviour regarding fit issues. It is exploratory as it
aims to obtain insight into a relatively new area of study, namely
identification of the most prevalent (distinctive) body shape of
Kenya’s career women, consumers’ perceived size and fit issues,
their knowledge about size and fit, and their fit preferences.
Various theories were consulted and adapted in this study, while
practical training in anthropometry and photography was undertaken
to ensure that measurements and photographs were taken accurately
and reliably. Traditional…

▼ The Bay Area contemporary artists Meghan Riepenhoff, Klea McKenna, and Chris McCaw have each developed a method for making tangible connection to the world by enmeshing their subject within the photographic object. This intention binds them together in a stylistic and philosophical photographic movement defined by qualities not yet fully accounted for in larger discussions of photography. While embracing traditional analog processes, these artists also innovate with their individual methods and materials to bring about photographic works of art that depend equally on light, chemicals and materials as well as the artists’ intention to physically connect the referent (that which is depicted or that which is the cause) within the photographic material. I assert that the materiality and methodology that inform their work transcend the photographic image, making the work of art “more than” a photograph while stretching the limits of how that medium is typically defined. Using the received history and theory of photography as considered by both scholars and practitioners, this thesis positions these three contemporary artists within the broader field of photography while appreciating the ways that their work stretches the boundaries and shows the emergence of a stylistic and philosophical movement that aims to acknowledge the photo-physical bond of the image and its cause. Additionally, the works of these artists embody the new term “photographic capacity,” which encompasses “more than” the photograph or end result, but also the intentions, processes and meanings – all of which contribute to an expanded understanding and experience of photography.

Established in 1954, the value-added tax has always been considered as a levy that is not easily defrauded because of the divided payment rule that encourages bringing closer the reportings done by the operators. In spite of that original ability, the VAT is currently the tax that makes the most important losses within the European Union. This reveals that this taxation system could not adjust to the evolution of the European construction and to the emergence of new technologies. Despite this, it is obvious that the embezzlements concerning the VAT have a much more sizable cause that lies in the tax collector’s role given to the companies. To rectify the scourge that is the fraud, several solutions are intended. If it is necessary, as the European Commission wishes, to move towards a definitive system of VAT planning taxation on the intercommunity operations, this perspective must combine with an upgrading of the levy. The new technologies henceforth offer numerous opportunities to secure the exchanges and make the system hermetic to the fraud.

Multi-party business applications are distributed computer programs implementing collaborative business functions. These applications are one of the main target of attackers who exploit vulnerabilities in order to perform malicious activities. The most prevalent classes of vulnerabilities are the consequence of insufficient validation of the user-provided input. However, the less-known class of logic vulnerabilities recently attracted the attention of researcher. According to the availability of software documentation, two testing techniques can be used: design verification via model checking, and black-box security testing. However, the former offers no support to test real implementations and the latter lacks the sophistication to detect logic flaws. In this thesis, we present two novel security testing techniques to detect logic flaws in multi-party business applicatons that tackle the shortcomings of the existing techniques. First, we present the verification via model checking of two security protocols. We then address the challenge of extending the results of the model checker to automatically test protocol implementations. Second, we present a novel black-box security testing technique that combines model inference, extraction of workflow and data flow patterns, and an attack pattern-based test case generation algorithm. Finally, we discuss the application of the technique developed in this thesis in an industrial setting. We used these techniques…

▼ A graph is called well-covered if all of its maximal independent sets have the same cardinality. We give a characterization of well-covered k-trees. A graph is said to be uniquely χ-colorable if, modulo permutations of colors, it has exactly one proper χ-coloring. The k-trees with at least k+1 vertices are minimal uniquely (k +1)-colorable, i.e., they have the minimal number of edges necessary for uniquely (k+1)-colorable graphs. We introduce the k-frames, a new class of minimal uniquely (k+1)-colorable graphs that generalizes the k-trees. The covering range of a graph is the difference between the cardinality of a largest maximal independent set of a graph and the cardinality of a smallest maximal independent set of the graph. We give the covering range for some cubic graphs and a class of k-regular graphs.

▼ [ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] This study explored the process by which sexuality education teachers come to conceptualize their teaching identity. The findings suggest that teachers rely on what I am calling a
Unique Identity when describing their role. Their
Unique Identity is defined by three interdependent components: (a) Strong rapport with students; (b) An ideology of responsibility to provide the truth; and (c) A willingness to cross political or institutional boundaries (even against the required curriculum) to meet that responsibility. Their reliance on a
Unique Identity allowed them to perceive themselves as exceptional and their role as sexuality educator as crucial for their students.

conditional expectation onto the xed point
space under the
automorphism in question, which is given by the limit of
some
ergodic averages. This is possible due to a result by Tomiyama
which
states that any norm one projection of a C*-algebra onto a
C*-subalgebra
is a conditional expectation. Hence the rst chapter
is devoted to the proof
of Tomiyama's result, after which some
examples of C*-dynamical systems
are considered.
In the last
chapter we deal with
unique and relative
unique ergodicity
in
C*-dynamical systems, and look at examples that illustrate these
notions.
Speci cally, we present two examples of C*-dynamical
systems that
are uniquely ergodic, one with an R2-action and the
other with a Z-action,
an example of a C*-dynamical system that is
relatively uniquely ergodic but
not uniquely ergodic, and lastly
an example of a C*-dynamical system that
is ergodic, but not
uniquely ergodic.

▼ Unique model spaces for representations of reductive groups over p-adic fields play an integral role in the theory of automorphic forms (where for our purposes, 'unique' means the decomposition of the model space is multiplicity-free). Uniqueness facilitates precise computation of special functions in the model as in the work of Casselman, Shalika, and Shintani , and is a common feature of local components of global integral representations of L-functions, as in Godement and Jacquet , and Ginzburg and Rallis . Here we study uniqueness of local model spaces with respect to 'universal unramified principal series' as outlined in Haines, Kottwitz, and Prasad . In this program, the convolution algebra of compactly supported, Iwahori-biinvariant functions on G(\Qp) (the \emph{Iwahori-Hecke algebra}, henceforth denoted as \mc{H}), provides powerful algebraic structure to the theory of p-adic group representations and allows one to simultaneously study the full unramified principal series. A recurring theme is that unique models and unique functionals on unramified principal series representations are associated to Hecke algebra modules of the form ∈d\mc{H0}^\mc{H} ε, where \mc{H}0 is the finite Hecke algebra consisting of functions in \mc{H} supported on the integer points in G(\Qp) and ε is a linear character of \mc{H}0. Brubaker, Bump, and Friedberg show that many standard unique functionals map to \emph{left} induced \mc{H}-modules of this form, and Chan and Savin show that the Iwahori-fixed vectors in certain standard unique model spaces are associated to \emph{right} \mc{H}-modules of this form.\ We explore and expand this program in several ways. We provide sufficient conditions for an \mc{H}-module to be of the form ∈d\mc{H0}^\mc{H} ε, expanding the GLn case described in . We show that \emph{left} \mc{H}-modules on the functional studied by Brubaker, Bump, and Friedberg are essentially the same as the \emph{right} \mc{H}-modules on the model side identified by Chan and Savin . We then classify, under certain conditions, the \mc{H}-modules which are associated to either unique modules or unique functionals. Finally, we investigate possible generalizations of this theory to finite multiplicity (but not unique) model spaces, specifically the generalized Gelfand-Graev representations of Kawanaka (\emph{generalized Whittaker models} in the program of Moeglin and Waldspurger ) of both G(\Fq) and G(\Qp).

▼ The ecological and economic value of sandy shoals off the Louisiana coast is not well understood. During three years of comprehensive benthic sampling and environmental measurements I studied the Ship, Trinity, Tiger Shoal Complex (STTSC), which comprises changing and discrete benthic habitats including high relief sandy shoals, and muddier, mostly deeper off-shoal areas, prone to hypoxia. Benthic macrofaunal assemblages of shoals included endemic species, and shoal communities were significantly different from each other and the muddier offshoal habitat, contributing to northern Gulf of Mexico (GoM) regional biodiversity. Sand percentage was the most influential environmental parameter shaping macrofaunal community composition across the region. My study revealed several more potential shoal-based functions such as providing a conduit for GoM sandy-habitat metapopulations, serving as an oxygenated benthic refuge from seasonal bottom water hypoxia, and functioning as offshore blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) spawning grounds. I discovered unexpectedly high concentrations of spawning female blue crabs, greatly expanding what was previously understood about blue crab reproductive migrations. Blue crab abundances were significantly higher on Ship and Trinity Shoals than the surrounding muddier and deeper seafloor. STTSC blue crabs compared favorably with those from nationally recognized spawning grounds in terms of condition factor (an index of health), abundance, and fecundity. This work is the first to use an ecological field study to predict the number of days (~21) between successive spawns for blue crabs, suggesting STTSC blue crabs produce at least seven broods per spawning season (~April– October). My morphometric predictors of crab weight were 12 to 16% better than the traditionally used method. In addition, I used natural abundance isotopes (δ13C, δ15N) to link blue crabs from the STTSC to the inshore blue crab fishery. I analyzed isotopic variations in crab muscle and ovary tissue and found relationships with salinity and proximity to the Atchafalaya River, indicating that crabs predominately migrate directly offshore from their home estuary, including from low salinity environments. Isotopic analysis also suggests that crabs utilize offshore prey resources and do not re-enter inshore estuaries during the spawning season but rather remain offshore for the season, continually spawning and hatching their eggs.

This thesis consists in two independent parts. The first part pertains to the study of eigenvectors of random matrices of Wigner-type. Firstly, we analyze the distribution of eigenvectors of deformed Wigner matrices which consist in a perturbation of a Wigner matrix by a deterministic diagonal matrix. If the two matrices are of the same order of magnitude, it was proved that eigenvectors are completely delocalized and eigenvalues belongs to the Wigner-Dyson-Mehta universality class. We study here an intermediary phase where the deterministic perturbation dominates the randomness of the Wigner matrix : eigenvectors are not completely delocalized but eigenvalues are still universal. The eigenvector entries are asymptotically Gaussian with a variance which localize them onto an explicit part of the spectrum. Moreover, their mass…

The pre-B stage represents a critical checkpoint in the development of B cells in the bone marrow. At this stage , there will be formation of a receptor intermediate called pre-BCR . The pre -BCR is composed of two heavy chains Igμ and two surrogate light chains ( SLCs ) . Each SLC consists of two proteins: λ5 and VpreB , which have "unique region" to their N-terminus and C -terminus, respectively. These unique regions are crucial for the functions of the receptor. The first part of my work on the domain λ5-UR has allowed us to propose an original model for assembling the pre -BCR and provide the structural basis of the role of intramolecular chaperone of λ5-UR. Receptor activation is allowed by the formation of an immunological synapse. Interactions between galectin-1 and λ5-UR will allow the formation of a lattice interactions. The structural study of complex GAL1/λ5-UR , conducted in the second part of my thesis, has allowed to determine the structure of the complex. These interactions GAL1/λ5-UR generate a modification of affinity of GAL1 for lactose. This result suggests that the interaction between the pre-BCR and galectin-1 may affect the balance of interactions at the lattice by modulating the affinity for galectin-1 for some glycans. In the third part of my thesis, approaches to structural and functional glycomics has allowed us to develop a mechanism of formation-dissolution of the synapse pre-B based on a…

Chromatin structure and cellular function are tightly linked in the nucleus of mammalian cells. Disruption of chromatin spatial organisation dramatically affects the life of a cell and eventually leads to severe pathologies in entire organisms. Two nuclear factors, CTCF and Cohesin, have been found to play a crucial role in the regulation and maintenance of DNA architecture. Huge advancements have been made in the understanding of the mechanisms behind chromatin arrangement but the field is still lacking a dynamic picture at the single cell and single molecule level. This study provide this study provides insight into the dynamics of CTCF and Cohesin through single particle tracking of CTCF and Cohesin dynamics achieved with single molecule tracking in living mouse embryonic stem cells. The interplay between these two factors was studied by looking at Cohesin’s behaviour in the absence of CTCF and in the context of other biological alterations.

▼ This thesis/business plan aims to explore how a profitable business can be developed and scaled by holding periodic boat parties in the Kaohsiung harbor. It also aims to study the local market and environment in order to harness them to develop a profitable and sustainable business. The success of this business is possible through the combination of the beauty and accessibility of the Kaohsiung Harbor and the lack of attractive nightlife options in the city. By hosting monthly boat tours in a âfloating nightclubâ experience on a 144 person capacity tour boat every month, we have presented a
unique alternative for those looking for something different to do in Kaohsiung.
I will go on to describe the major components of the boat party business, including the features, location, price point, marketing strategies, themes and more. It will paint a clear picture of how this business profited by through a multifaceted marketing approach, established relationships in the nightlife events industry with a fresh and innovative idea.
A substantial portion of this business plan is devoted to the marketing strategy. An innovative marketing approach was implemented using social media via a full-fledged Facebook marketing strategy, which was a large contributor to the success of the venture. Through social media marketing, a wide audience was reached, ensuring several sold out events that were just as much fun to attend as to organize.

▼ In this thesis, we study three problems related to expanders, whose analysis involves understanding the intimate connection between expanders, spectra and semidefinite programming. Our first result is related to Khot's Unique Games conjecture (UGC), whose validity is one of the most central open problems in computational complexity theory. We show that UGC is false on expander graphs. This result, in particular, rules out a natural way of proving hardness of approximation for SPARSEST CUT. Our second result is in the area of graph sparsification. We say that a graph H is a sparsifier for a graph G if the respective graph Laplacians of the two graphs satisfy xTLHx &le xTLGx, for all vectors x. Given a union of two graphs G+W, we show how to choose a sparse subgraph W' of W so that G+W' is a good sparsifier for G+W. We apply the result to optimizing the algebraic connectivity of a graph by adding very few edges. We also show how to use this result in order to create optimal ultrasparsifiers for every graph, which can be used as good graph theoretic preconditioners for symmetric, positive semidefinite, diagonally dominant linear systems. Lastly, we study the integrality gap of the well known Sparsest Cut semidefinite program. We present a simple construction and analysis of an O(log logN) integrality gap for Sparsest Cut while our gap instance, vector solution, and analysis are somewhat simpler and more intuitive than those which appear in the literature. Our techniques use tools both from the area of semidefinite programming and spectral graph theory. This is not surprising since, when delving into the beautiful theory underlying spectra and SDPs, one finds that they are deeply connected in more ways than one.Semidefinite programs are nothing but linear programs with variables representing entries of a matrix, together with eigenvalue bounds for that matrix and could, therefore capture the spectral expansion of a graph. Similarly, most of eigenvalue optimization problems canbe cast as SDPs, which leads to developing semidefinite programming based algorithms for a plethora of other important graph problems. In this thesis we further explore the connections between expansion, spectra and SDPs by applying them to solving these threeproblems described above.

▼ Following financial cuts introduced by the
government in 2010, fewer funding and decision-making powers are
held within local authorities, restricting their role as the
provider of public services (Buser, 2013). As a result, the
majority of local authority educational psychology teams have
adopted a partially or fully-traded model of service delivery, with
the aim of generating income to meet some or all service costs
(Woods, 2014a). Educational psychologists have expressed concern
about whether service commissioners value their distinctive
contribution enough to purchase services (Fallon, Woods &
Rooney, 2010). This study sought to investigate the response to
trading and what impact this has had on the role of the educational
psychologist, from the perspectives of service commissioners and
educational psychologists. A multiple-case study design was
implemented, following a mixed methods approach. Two
partially-traded local authority educational psychology services
were recruited. Participants from the emerging service included
five educational psychologists and three small scale service
commissioners. Participants from the established service included
three educational psychologists, three small scale service
commissioners and two large scale service commissioners. Focus
groups, interviews and service brochures provided qualitative data,
which were incorporated with quantitative service delivery data.
All qualitative data were transcribed verbatim and analysed using
thematic analysis. Findings were presented as thematic maps.
Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics to
describe trends in service use. Findings show that the impact of
trading on the role and contribution of the educational
psychologist has been largely positive. Trading appears to have had
a regenerating effect by creating the opportunity for an extension
in the type and range of work now being completed. The findings are
discussed in relation to current and future educational
psychologist role and give an up-to-date insight into why the role
exists, who may be willing to pay for the role and how this
evolving role fits within the broader political contexts of
education, special educational needs and
disability.

▼ D. Cur.( Psychiatric Nursing Science)
Research has shown that white South African males between the ages of thirty and forty-five are a vulnerable target group for experiencing stress. Businessmen, particularly those involved in managing their business independently, comprise a section of this category and experience unique stressors which differ from those of other individuals. It is of importance to take cognisance of the fact that in spite of the stress factors which negatively influence the businessman's home and work life, there are yet businessmen who cope with such stress effectively and lead a meaningful and productive life, whilst others are unable to cope with the negative stress factors. In the presentation of various courses aimed at promoting mental health, the researcher found that independent businessmen identified the need for continued, adequate support and a meaningful and balanced life. These businessmen wish to formulate priorities effectively, make choices and mobilize resources in their quest for wholeness. The question which arose for the researcher may be stated as follows: To what extent would the exploration and description of the experiential world of the businessman serve as a basis for the generation of a model for the promotion of the mental health of independent businessmen? This model will include guidelines for the application of a comprehensive enrichment programme which will facilitate the businessman's quest for wholeness...

▼ One of the quandaries when studying color perception in the peripheral retina is whether to equate stimuli photopically to the cones or scotopically to the rods. Both methods are prevalent in the literature and while many of the findings are similar when using either method, there are some notable differences. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the differences in results can be at least partially attributed to the methodology used to equate experimental stimuli.
Unique hue loci (blue, green, yellow) were measured in the fovea and at 10° temporal retinal eccentricity under bleach and no-bleach conditions for stimuli equated either photopically (0.3 and 2.3 log phot td) or scotopically (1.0 and 3.0 log scot td). While some differences in
unique hue loci exist depending on the method of equating stimuli, the overall pattern of results suggested that different conclusions cannot be drawn depending on the method of equating stimuli. Most likely, the differences reported among
unique hue studies are not due to the method of equating stimuli. The findings from this study suggest the method used to equate stimuli can be discounted as a potential confound in interpretation of results from
unique hue studies.

Problematisation: In February 2015, the Swedish central bank introduced an interest rate below zero for the first time. Since then the economy has been booming and the low interest rates has enabled cheaper debt. Historically, increased economic growth has occurred together with higher interest rates. However, we find ourselves in the opposite situation today. This should affect how companies are working with their capital structure, as they are now able to achieve high growth at a lower financial cost. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze how the current interest rate affects different industrial companies strategic and financial decisions related to their capital structure. Research Questions:- Do companies consider different interest rates when choosing their capital structure? - Have companies started working with capital structure in a different way since the interest rate below zero was introduced in February…

A global effort is pursued to realise a quantum computer. Such a dispositive will allow to implement faster algorithms for tasks like integer factoring and database search. It will also allow to simulate quantum system much more efficiently. than a classical system. This power gain necessitates to entangle a large number of qubits. This in turn requires the ability to transport a qubit in space. In this thesis, we demonstrate a first step: a single electron is transported on demand from one quantum dot to another quantum dot, micrometers away. The transport is realised thanks to a Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) that drags the electron. The transfer is realised with an efficiency of 90 % and triggered within one nanosecond. These results open the way to the realisation of electron quantum optics experiments with an event per event detection. A work on the separation of two electron initially present in the quantum dot will lead to the generation of distant entangled particles.

▼ Nowadays, industries are become more open to conduct part of their research outside of their own companies. The industries can work together with an independent research institute like NELF Contract Research Organization (NELFCRO), the problem owner of the case that is used in this thesis research. The management of NELFCRO is aware of the emergence of many potential partnerships between contract research organizations and the industries. Moreover, the management considers improving NELFCRO’s acquisition process in order to successfully enter the market. According to NELFCRO’s experience, the acquisition phase of NELFCRO usually takes a lot of time before the customer makes a decision to cooperate. NELFCRO’s management mentions that a significant percentage of company’s time is used for reducing perceived barriers and negative thought of the customer towards NELFCRO. In order to assist NELFCRO to improve their acquisition process, this research was initiated. The main research question of this thesis is: “How can the acquisition process of NELFCRO be improved by integrating theory from academic literature and practice from NELFCRO employees’ perspective?” To answer this question, this research was conducted in different phases, namely analysis and synthesis phases. As part of the analysis phase, context analysis and concept analysis were carried out. In the context analysis phase, interviews of NELFCRO’s employees and NELFCRO’s flyer analysis were conducted. The main results of this phase are the company context which emphasized the perceived positive aspects and perceived negative aspects of NELFCRO based on its employees’ perspective. Next to the context analysis, a concept analysis was conducted by a literature study on acquisition process in order to develop the ground of this research. The results of this literature study are theoretical framework of acquisition process and list of aspects that are theoretically involved in acquisition process. As part of synthesis phase, the integration of the context analysis result and the concept analysis result were carried out. Validation of the research results on context analysis and concept analysis were conducted. The validation was part of the focus group activity with NELFCRO’s employees as participants. The focus group was also aimed to enrich the concept of the integrated frameworks and NELFCRO’s context with new ideas. The main result of the synthesis research phase is an integrated matrix of theoretical framework and NELFCRO’s context. This matrix was used to analyze the NELFCRO’s perceived aspects, which are closely related to acquisition process. Furthermore, it was used to generate possible
unique selling propositions (USPs) of NELFCRO. Then, possible solutions to generate company’s proposed-USPs were discussed and some recommendations were generated. In this research phase, the validation of the research results was carried out. Also, in the focus group, NELFCRO’s employees were involved to think together about their company’s acquisition case based on the…

▼ An Italian dominating function, abbreviated IDF, of G is a function f \colon V(G) → {0, 1, 2} satisfying the condition that for every vertex v ∈ V(G) with f(v)=0, we have ∑u ∈ N(v) f(u) ≥ 2. That is, either v is adjacent to at least one vertex u with f(u) = 2, or to at least two vertices x and y with f(x) = f(y) = 1. The Italian domination number, denoted γI(G), is the minimum weight of an IDF in G. In this thesis, we use operations that join two trees with a single edge in order to build trees with unique γI-functions.

▼ We establish the amenability,
unique ergodicity and nonamenability of various automorphism groups from Cherlin's list of countable homogeneous directed graphs. This marks a complete understanding of the amenability of the automorphism groups from this list, and except for the Semigeneric graph case, marks a complete understanding of the
unique ergodicity of these groups.
Along the way we establish that a certain product of Fraïssé classes preserves amenability,
unique ergodicity and the Hrushovski property. We also establish the
unique ergodicity of various other automorphism groups of Fraïssé structures that do not appear on Cherlin's list.

▼ Several studies exploring delivery success on mass housing projects continue to cite
communication ineffectiveness inherent in the unique attributes of mass housing as a major
problem plaguing the delivery efforts. However, these notable studies fail to empirically establish
the nature and extent to which the observed communication ineffectiveness are attributed to the
unique features displayed by mass housing projects. In the light of mass housing approach being
adopted as a veritable delivery strategy among developed and developing countries coupled with
the significant role effective communication plays in project performance and success, the need to
engender effective communication in mass housing delivery has engaged the attention of
stakeholders in recent times. In the light of this recognition, emerging literature still continues to
bemoan the lack of collaborative team effectiveness and delivery failures that are as a result of
ineffective communication particularly on projects of unique particularities and characteristics
such as Mass housing projects (MHPs). Against this background, there is a common assertion
that, the knowledge and clear understanding of the extent and nature of communication
ineffectiveness inherent in the unique features of mass housing projects will be a vital resource
that can stimulate the effective planning of MHPs. Additionally, this understanding will thus be
useful in the adoption of procurement strategies, decision making, communication management,
skill development and contract design necessary to influence the needed communication
performance among the project participants and stakeholders on MHPs. With the paucity in
earlier studies and knowledge gap identified, this study has been undertaken to empirically
determine the contribution of the unique features of MHPs to communication ineffectiveness
among the project team in its delivery. By adopting the attribution theory of communication
performance supported by the ‘Hofstede’s cultural framework’ on communication in project
teams, external and internal factors were identified as the two main ‘causal locus’ attribution of
communication performance outcome among the project team. This led to the development and
adoption of appropriate theoretical concepts and framework which draw on the attribution theory,
communication performance model and the unique features of MHPs. This subsequently
established the conceptual evaluative measurement model for the study. By focusing on the
external factors herein being the unique features of MHPs, a quantitative research methodology
was employed in investigating the primal contribution of the unique features of MHPs to the
project team communication effectiveness. Through the use of Structural Equation Modeling
(SEM) as the analytical approach to assessing communication ineffectiveness, the results revealed

▼ The introduction of calculation methods for motion induced interruptions (MII) in 1984 introduced a new way to quantify human factors in addition to the motion sickness index (MSI). The 1990 Graham method for calculating MII uses a combination of a vessel\'s acceleration and roll to determine a tipping" factor to calculate MII per minute. The Applebee-Baitis (AB) method considered that the motions are implicitly considered in accelerations, and therefore did not require roll to calculate MII. This thesis examines and analyzes the di"erences between the AB and Graham methods and compares their results for a
unique hull form shape, a cylindrical capsule, in rough seas to determine which method is preferred. Two tests were performed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) in post-splashdown conditions. A one-quarter scale model of the CEV was tested at the Aberdeen Test Center in Aberdeen, Maryland. Direct comparison of the analyzed data, MII sensitivity to location, and scaling analyses are examined and future work to further the application of MII calculation methods are proposed. The symmetry of the capsule leads to the assumption that roll and pitch-dominant MII calculations should be on the same order of magnitude. They are not because both MII methods only take roll-motions into account. The inclusion of both pitch and roll motions for the MII calculations is proposed as future work. The Graham method was found to be the more appropriate calculation because it is more conservative, and therefore preferred in the context of crew safety.

▼ The main purpose of this paper is to better understand groups that do not have the
unique product property. In particular, the goal is to better understand Promislow's example, G, of such a group. In doing so, we will develop methods for generating examples of other sets that do not have the
unique product property. With these methods we can show that there exists other distinct 14 element, square, non-
unique product sets in G that are not inversions or translations. Also, this paper answers the question as to whether every non-
unique product set can have only 14 elements in the negative by producing a 17 element square n.u.p. set. The secondary purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that in the group ring K[G], there are no units of support size 3.

Quantum dynamics is very sensitive to dimensionality. While two-dimensional electronic systems form Fermi liquids, one-dimensional systems—Tomonaga–Luttinger liquids—are described by purely bosonic excitations, even though they are initially made of fermions. With the advent of coherent single-electron sources, the quantum dynamics of such a liquid is now accessible at the single-electron level. In this PhD work, we study the most general case where the system can be tuned continuously from a clean one-channel Tomonaga– Luttinger liquid to a multi-channel Fermi liquid in a non-chiral system. We use time-resolved measurement techniques to determine the time of flight of a single-electron voltage pulse and extract the collective charge excitation velocity. Analysing the propagation velocity allows to reveal the collective effects that govern the physics in our quasi one-dimensional system. Our detailed modelling of the electrostatics of the sample allows…
