▼ The purpose of this research study was to explore the phenomenon of public safety professionals using innovative
technology in a public safety training context. A single question guided this research: What is the experience of public safety trainees who are required to use innovative or emerging
technology in face-to-face training?
I employed a qualitative, hermeneutic phenomenological research approach to conduct this study. The approach included in-depth interviews with six public safety professionals to better understand their experience as they encountered innovative
technology in training contexts. Participants were identified through purposeful sampling focusing on public safety professionals who attended training that incorporated innovative
technology conducted in the United States. The primary data sources for this qualitative study were in-depth interviews with open-ended questions and supporting data from observation and documents to provide a contextual frame.
The findings of this study provided several implications to human resource development. For practitioners, the findings offer valuable information that will potentially enable effective integration of innovative technologies in training. The findings provide opportunities for researchers to explore the impact of different technologies used on trainees???
technology acceptance process. Finally, the findings provide a potential to develop new theories to explain how the
acceptance of innovative
technology occurs.

▼ Tourism is often introduced as a
subject in formal
education curricula because of the increasing and significant
economic contribution of the tourism industry to the private and
public sector. This is especially the case in emerging economies in
Asia and Africa (Hsu, 2015; Mayaka & Akama, 2015; Cuffy et al.,
2012). Tourism in South Africa – which is the geographical setting
of this research – is recognised as a key economic sector. At
secondary level, tourism has been widely introduced at schools
throughout South Africa since 2000 and has experienced significant
growth (Umalusi, 2014). Furthermore, information and communication
technology (ICT) has rapidly penetrated public and private sectors
of the country. ICT affords novel opportunities for social and
economic development, and this has especially been observed in the
fields of both tourism and education (Anwar et al., 2014; Vandeyar,
2015). Yet, the many uses and implications of ICT for tourism
education in South Africa are unclear and under-theorised as a
research area (Adukaite, Van Zyl, & Cantoni, 2016). Moreover,
engagement has been identified as a significant indicator of
student success in South Africa (Council for Higher Education,
2010). Lack of engagement contributes to poor graduation rates at
secondary and tertiary institutions in South Africa (Strydom et
al., 2010; Titus & Ng’ambi, 2014). A common strategy to address
lack of student engagement is introducing game elements into the
learning process: the so-called gamification of learning (Kapp,
2012). The majority of research in this field has been conducted in
more economically advanced and developed regions, and there is a
paucity of research in emerging country contexts. It is argued that
gamification can be effectively utilised also in these contexts to
address learner engagement and motivation. This study aims to
contribute in this respect: firstly, by investigating the extent to
which ICT supports tourism education in South African high schools
through the lenses of
Technology Domestication Theory (Habib, 2005;
Haddon, 2006) and Social Cognitive Theory (Bandura, 1977).
Secondly, the study aims to examine gamified learning
acceptance
within tourism education in a developing country context. The
research assimilates three separate studies. Study 1. The Role of
Digital
Technology in Tourism Education: A Case Study of South
African Secondary Schools The study was designed as an exploratory
analysis, based on 24 in-depth interviews (n=24) with high school
tourism teachers and government officials. An analysis reveals that
teachers recognize ICT as essential in exposing students to the
tourism industry. This is especially the case in under-resourced
schools, where learners do not have the financial means to
participate in tourism activities. However, ICT is still limited in
its integration as a pedagogical support tool. The major obstacles
toward integration include:
technology anxiety, lack of training,
availability of resources, and learner resistance to use their
personal mobile devices. Study 2.…

▼ This report presents the Graduation Project: “Mediator tool to increase the
acceptance of technologies among seniors”. The project is the culmination of the MSc Programme in Design for Interaction at the Faculty of Industrial Design at Delft University of
Technology.
Several technologies have been developed to support seniors to live independently at home by enabling them to stay active and productive for longer, to keep a good health, to maintain social networks or to increase personal security to give some examples. Even though technologies to enable an independent living exist, seniors still face barriers in exploiting such technologies to their full potential.
The report presents a tool to increase the
acceptance of technologies for independent living among seniors. The focus was on motivating seniors to interact with technologies through a tool that is an intermediate step among seniors and technologies. The mediator tool should be implemented before seniors had the first contact with the
technology and would encourage them to interacting with it. At the same time the mediator tool should be external to the
technology itself.
An innovative
technology that supports seniors independent living based on a TV platform, the
[email protected] system, was taken as case study. The graduation project was supported by one of the stakeholders in the development of the
[email protected] system, the Interactive Intelligence Group of Delft University of
technology.
In a literature research, factors that influence the
acceptance of technologies were studied. Analysis of qualitative interviews among seniors was done to further explore the factors that influence the
acceptance of technologies for independent living in a real context. The research indicated that seniors are motivated to accept new technologies when the clearly perceive the benefits that they can provide into own lives. The goal of the project was on arise awareness about possible gains to be obtained through the use of the
technology by enabling seniors to discover by themselves if they could benefit from such
technology. The mediator tool is a communication tool to go beyond informing seniors the gains that they could obtain; it allows seniors to create their own experience.
This goal was used to develop design ideas. Three ideas were presented to seniors to research what elements of the designs would motivate them to encounter for the first time a
technology for independent living. Seniors feedback was used to identify areas of opportunity for the mediator tool. It was found that seniors are motivated by trying new technologies in familiar social settings where they can interact with peers. These two elements were incorporated in the design concept, the Realization Pathway.
In order to verify if the Realization Pathway reached its goal, enabling seniors to discover by themselves if they could benefit from a
technology for independent living, a prototype was built and tested among nine seniors. The prototype was a low-tech version of the design concept developed that…

▼ Application of domestic contactless smart card was originally released for using as payment in riding public transportation. Due to its lightweight and easy to carry, safety and highly convenient, the range of its usage has gradually developed and extended to various small amount approaches the public frequently contact with in daily life. With application of new
technology, it has gradually changed payment models and pattern while with rising of E-commerce, it could be described in line with the trend of e-money mechanism and cashless society that advanced countries promote.
It could be expected that contactless smart card brings together all the advantages which is bound to enhance satisfaction of
acceptance from cardholder on about application of various consumption greatly. Under severe competitive environment of each smart card, how to strengthen the overall service quality, so that consumers are willing to hold the card loyally and use the card continuously will be an important issue that this study would investigate thoroughly. This study adopted random convenience sampling with a total 330 valid samples. The results of the study are as follows:
1.The satisfaction about perception of usefulness of iPASS that consumers have is the highest while it is relatively lower in the evaluation of marketing strategy. This is quite consistent with development status of the company as well as there still room for improvement in the future.
2.Female consumers have higher satisfaction about iPASS than male consumers and their degree of recognition about management and control for security risk on using a smart card is significantly higher than male which has a positive significant difference.
3.Users of iPASS with different ages have a significant difference on attitude and intention of use while users of iPASS with different occupation, education level and monthly wages have no significant difference on satisfaction of iPASS. However, users who have different residential areas have significant difference on perception of easy to use, intention of use and attitude of use and among them, there is especially high difference on attitude of use.
This study investigated satisfaction of use from consumers about contactless smart card. Through questionnaires and statistical analysis, it understood difference of satisfaction from consumers with different backgrounds about iPASS and hoped to provide as further recommendations to the relevant units as development strategy.

▼ In the current research, I introduce a
multidimensional construct, system support climate (SSC), and
predict that different dimensions of this construct are more or
less influential across different stages of the lifespan of a
technology in the workplace. Specifically, I seek to address the
following: (1) What are the dimensions of SSC that are important to
technology acceptance? (2) Do these dimensions predict technology
use differentially over time? If so, when are the various
dimensions most influential? (3) What are some of the boundary
conditions for predicting technology use based on the levels of
SSC? To address these questions, I extrapolate the dimensions of
SSC based on a review of past empirical research. I then map these
dimensions onto a stage model representing the lifespan of the
technology in the organization. Finally, I present preliminary
evidence regarding the efficacy of this stage model based on pilot
studies and a survey of course management system users across
multiple universities. The results of this research not only extend
our scientific understanding of relationships between
organizational climate and technology use, but also point to some
practical recommendations for organizational leaders seeking to
better invest their scarce resources to bolster technology
acceptance. Limitations of the current study and recommendations
for future research are discussed.

▼ The older adult population will continue to place pressure on the financial and resource allocation of the healthcare industry as the over 65 population continues to grow. Health care expenditures to treat the aging population will continue to rise as older adults are more likely to have expensive chronic conditions. The future may lay with Consumer Health Information Technology which may allow the patients to have more control of their treatment schedule and self-management of their health and chronic conditions. However, older adults may exhibit cognitive declines that prohibit the learning and proper use of technology, and this assumption is a major inhibitor towards full implementation. This study used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology questionnaire to measure the acceptance of an over-the-counter blood pressure monitor. Twenty-six participants trained themselves to use the device and then measured their blood pressure and uploaded that data to a web software client for their potential healthcare givers for two sessions, one week apart. The results showed that older adults’ ability to perform tasks and limit errors after a retention period is worse when compared to younger adults. However, this performance decline after the retention interval did not result in a decline in the participants’ intention to use the device, showing that even with difficulty when using a novel medical device the older adults still rated that they would intend to use the device similarly to the younger cohort. These systems show the promise of ultimately relieving some of the cost burden and stress on the health industry by having more constant care and reducing hospital readmission rates but may require targeted training for older adults to better maintain task performance.

▼ New
technology has changed how people do business.
With rapid development of
technology, it has been difficult for
businesses and organizations to successfully implement
technology
advancements. This problem has spurred research in the area of
technology acceptance. The
Technology Acceptance Model (Davis,
1989) is a dominant theory used to explain
technology use. Although
many researchers have copied, expanded, and altered this model
through quantitative research, making it robust, this study will
further the model by using qualitative methods to explore how
members understand and classify
technology use. This study adds to
the existing knowledge of computer-mediated communication and
technology acceptance by exploring information
technology use
within a volunteer or not-for-profit organization (NPO). In order
to offer a unique perspective to exploring how organizational
members understand and adopt new
technology, this study employs
qualitative methodology to a topic traditionally explored through
quantitative surveys and measurements. Research questions
specifically consider why organizational members accept or reject
new
technology and how organizational membership affects
technology
acceptance. Using the third iteration of the
technology acceptance
model (TAM 3), data confirm perceived usefulness and perceived ease
as determinants of
technology acceptance. The influencing factors
of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use were also
confirmed. Two new influencing factors of perceived usefulness
emerged in this study: appropriateness and information overload.
Also, insight into the role of age and
technology adoption calls
into question stereotypical misconceptions of
technology use and
acceptance. Overall, this study confirms and expands on research in
the area of
technology acceptance.

▼ Breakthrough innovations are strikingly unfamiliar additions to everyday life, and novel technologies encounter significant barriers en route toward successful commercialization and widespread
acceptance within a given society. This dissertation examines popular humor as a distinctive form of adaptive discourse that communities engage in as they negotiate the potential domestication of a breakthrough innovation. The link between popular humor and collective-level responses to breakthrough innovations is explored via a theory-building, in-depth historical case analysis of major joke cycles during the introduction of the automobile (1897-1929). Analysis of 2,627 jokes, supplemental cultural ephemera, and contemporaneous media accounts reveals the significance of humor as distinctive form of discourse and demonstrates how popular humor can facilitate evolving
acceptance of a previously resisted breakthrough
technology. In sum, this study extends our understanding of social, cultural, and emotional processes that influence the trajectories of radical innovations, draws attention to collective-level, identity-based forces embedded in the rhythms of everyday life that influence the
acceptance or rejection of breakthrough innovations, and introduces humor as a mechanism for negotiating the meaning of novel technologies in society.

▼ As life spans increase, many older adults are managing one or more chronic diseases at a time. Healthcare Technologies (HCTs) are a possible solution to support this population as they self-manage through monitoring and maintenance. For HCTs to help older adults, they must first be willing to use the
technology. The purpose of the research was to understand what factors emerged when older adults considered using new HCTs, how well current models of
technology acceptance represented these factors, and to understand how these factors differ between HCTs. Twenty-three participants with hypertension between the ages of 65-84 completed a semi-structured interview to gain insight into factors that emerged that may influence their intentions to use HCTs. During the interview, participants were presented with a scenario and one of three HCTs (blood pressure monitor, electronic pillbox, and multifunctional healthcare robot) to consider. A coding scheme categorized responses in MAXQDA to assess the frequency with which different factors were mentioned. Six factors in the context of HCTs that older adults considered that are not in previous models of
technology acceptance: familiarity, perceived need, perceived benefit, advice
acceptance, privacy, and trust. Based on the qualitative data, a conceptual model of the Healthcare-
Technology Acceptance Model (H-TAM) for older adults was created to describe these factors as they relate to the factors from the literature. These findings provide insights about older adults and their intentions to accept or not accept HCTs that can inform dissemination of new technologies.

▼ As higher education continues to integrate
technology,
the counselor education field has evolved and recognized the
importance of graduate students’ attitudes towards
technology
acceptance of a wide array of
technology in their training programs
(Burt, Gonzalez, Swank, Ascher, & Cunningham, 2011; Kennedy,
2011; Orr, 2011; Sabella, Poynton, & Isaacs, 2010; Tyler &
Sabella, 2004). This study examined the attitudes of counselor
education graduate students in CACREP-accredited program towards
technology acceptance using the
Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)
as the theoretical framework for the study. In particular, the
purpose of this study was to better understand counselor education
graduate students’ attitudes towards
technology acceptance as it
relates to perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness,
technology
self-efficacy, and
technology anxiety.
Participants in the study
were 107 graduate students who were enrolled in Fall 2018 at 10
Midwest CACREP-accredited counselor education programs. Data were
gathered by an online survey consisting of a demographic
questionnaire and four instruments (
Technology Acceptance Model
Scales, Media and
Technology Usage and Attitudes Scale,
Technology
Self-efficacy Scale, and
Technology Anxiety Scale).
The results
of the hierarchical regression analysis for each of the research
questions revealed several significant findings regarding graduate
students’ attitudes towards use of
technology. For the first
research question, perceived ease of use was predicted by
technology self-efficacy and
technology anxiety. The results
indicated perceived ease of use was influenced positively by
technology self-efficacy and negatively by
technology anxiety. For
the second research question, perceived usefulness was predicted by
technology self-efficacy and
technology anxiety. The results
indicated perceived usefulness was influenced positively by
technology self-efficacy and negatively by
technology anxiety. For
the third research question, counselor education graduate students’
attitudes towards the use of
technology was predicted by perceived
usefulness. In addition, this study found a strong positive
relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness
likely due to multicollinearity.
Technology plays an increasing
role in counselor education programs. Findings from this study
provide important information for counselor education programs to
consider regarding graduate students’ attitudes towards the use of
technology.

▼ Summary Manufacturers of innovative products are faced with one critical
question: Will customers accept that innovation in the future? As the costs of
product development are not only very high but also strongly progressing in
the course of the product development process, it is of major importance to
evaluate the customers’
acceptance of an innovation early in the development
process. By this, the development of an innovation with mediocre customer
benefit may be stopped early in the process before getting too costly. Bad
investments can be avoided. For the early evaluation of customers’ product
acceptance, prototypes of the future product are usually used. Thereby, the
level of maturity of the prototypes is progressing in the course of the
development process. In the early stages there is merely the description of an
idea; the later prototypes are getting more complex and similar to the final
product. The maturity of the proto-type is crucial for testing customer
acceptance in the course of the development process. The amount of experience
that can be gathered with the innovation is thus correlated with the stage in
the development process. The main scope of this study is how this progressing
product experience affects customer
acceptance: Are there different evaluation
strategies being used at different stages in the development process on the
basis of varying prototypes? Exemplary for technically complex products with
high development costs two innovations from automotive industry are chosen for
this study. A phase model of the customer input in the development process (in
German: “Phasenmodell des Kundeninput”; abbreviated PKI) has been developed
describing the customer input according to different stages of the development
process. The main difference between the phases lies in the amount of
experience gathered by the customer. The phase model is exemplified in a
longitudinal study analyzing the change in customer
acceptance of a speech
control system for cars due to growing experience with the innovation. Based
on the results of the first study, an
acceptance model has been developed. It
aims at analyzing the psychological processes underlying the evaluation of
acceptance at different stages of the development process. This experience-
based
acceptance model (in German: “Erfahrungsabhängiges Akzeptanzmodell”;
abbreviated EAM) describes the impact of product experience on the evaluation
of innovations and the underlying evaluation processes. For this purpose,
general aspects of expertise (different to specific product experience) and
anchors for evaluation have been added to common variables of
technology
acceptance models. The variable “anchors for evaluation” subsumes variables
that help to evaluate the product if product-specific information is missing
(e.g. information about the brand or the product category). The new model has
been tested in a study on the customer
acceptance of an automotive telematics
system using a cross-sectional design. Model tests reveal that common
acceptance models are not…

deste fenómeno e, sobretudo, as consequências e desafios resultantes.
e, melhorando as relações familiares e comunitárias.

Currently, the Internet is part of our daily lives including the use of social networks. It is in this context that the social network Facebook, founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerber, achieved high notoriety and usage levels.
Considering that Facebook cannot be neglected by Marketing and that its use by personal users, can be influenced by some factors, in this study we seek information about variables that may influence the use of social network Facebook from the perspective of the personal profile, having as starting point for investigating the TAM-Technology Acceptance Model and other models that have evolved from the first.
Thus, we present the proposal for a new model, incorporating nine dimensions, being four resulting from concern to contemplate the characteristics and functionality of Facebook.
To validate the model and the fourteen possibilities presented conducted an empirical study of quantitative nature, using an online questionnaire, which has shown that the use of Facebook, from the perspective of the personal profile, is influenced by variables that are based on the technology acceptance model and other dimensions have been found and accepted – age and trust/security – that contemplate the specificities of Facebook.
With this work, provides also an opportunity…

▼ This study aimed to examine how students perceives the factors that may influence them to
attend a training course offered in the distance virtual learning environment (VLE) of the
National School of Public Administration (ENAP). Thus, as theoretical basis it was used the
Unified Theory of
Acceptance and Use of
Technology (UTAUT), the result of an integration
of eight previous models which aimed to explain the same phenomenon (
acceptance/use of
information
technology). The research approach was a quantitative and qualitative. To
achieve the study objectives were made five semi-structured interviews and an online
questionnaire (websurvey) in a valid sample of 101 public employees scattered throughout the
country. The technique used to the analysis of quantitative data was the structural equation
modeling (SEM), by the method of Partial Least Square Path Modeling (PLS-PM). To
qualitative data was the thematic content analysis. Among the results, it was found that, in the
context of public service, the degree whose the individual believes that the use of an AVA
will help its performance at work (performance expectancy) is a factor to its intended use and
also influence its use. Among the results, it was found that the belief which the public
employee has in the use of a VLE as a way to improve the performance of his work
(performance expectation) was determinant for its intended use that, in turn, influenced their
use. It was confirmed that, under the voluntary use of
technology, the general opinion of the
student s social circle (social influence) has no effect on their intention to use the VLE. The
effort expectancy and facilitating conditions were not directly related to the intended use and
use, respectively. However, emerged from the students speeches that the opinions of their
coworkers, the ease of manipulate the VLE, the flexibility of time and place of the distance
learning program and the presence of a tutor are important to their intentions to do a distance
learning program. With the results, it is expected that the managers of the distance learning
program of ENAP turn their efforts to reduce the impact of the causes of non-use by those
unwilling to adopt voluntarily the e-learning, and enhance the potentialities of distance
learning for those who are already users

▼ Problem: Parallels have been drawn between the rise of the internet in 1990s and the present rise of bitcoin (cryptocurrency) and underlying blockchain technology. This resulted in a widespread of media coverage due to extreme price fluctuations and increased supply and demand. Garcia et al. (2014) argues that this is driven by several social aspects including word-of-mouth communication on social media, indicating that this aspect of social media effects individual attitude formation and intention towards cryptocurrency. However, this combination of social media of antecedent of consumer acceptance is limited explored, especially in the context of technology acceptance. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to create further understanding in the Technology Acceptance Model with the additional construct: social influence, first suggested by Malhotra et al. (1999). Hereby, the additional construct of social media influence was added to advance the indirect effects of social media influence on attitude formation and behavioural intention towards cryptocurrency, through the processes of social influence (internalization; identification; compliance) by Kelman. Method: This study carries out a quantitative study where survey-research was used that included a total sample of 250 cases. This sample consists of individuals between 18-37 years old, where social media usage is part of the life. As a result of the data collection, analysis was conducted using multiple regression techniques. Conclusion: Analysis of the findings established theoretical validation of the appliance of the Technology Acceptance Model on digital innovation, like cryptocurrency. By adding the construct of social media, further understanding is created in the behaviour of millennials towards cryptocurrency. The evidence suggests that there are clear indirect effects of social media on attitude formation and intention towards engaging in cryptocurrency through the processes of social influence. This study should be seen as preliminary, where future research could be built upon. More specifically, in terms of consumer acceptance of cryptocurrency and the extent of influence by social media.

▼ The UK micro/SME (known here as SME) retail sector is very important to the economic well being of the country. Its ability to generate jobs as well as income makes it a key part of the drive towards economic growth, and as such it is supported by government through a variety of initiatives. One initiative in 2003 aimed to energise and invigorate practitioners into using internet based technologies more fully in their business practices. This supported the widely held belief that the internet can and does enhance and improve business efficiency. It also suggests that SMEs were not fully engaging with the technology and that the government felt that it was not at the desirable level. This thesis looks at the issues surrounding technology acceptance for the SME and in particular internet adoption in the retail sector. This work explains technology acceptance and the main determinants and moderators connected with this in an organisational setting providing the practitioner with insight into why some technologies are embraced and others underutilised, or not adopted at all. Previous academic work in this area has tended to focus on the larger organisation. This thesis uses the technology acceptance literature to explore the situation of the SME. Through qualitative and quantitative research the specifics of the SME situation relating to technology acceptance are explored with the determinants and moderators being evaluated and changes made where appropriate. The specific internet based technology of online procurement is used to measure levels of acceptance and the issues relating to it. The result is an adapted model that better reflects the technology acceptance situation of the SME retail organisation. In the model three of the original constructs remain, however the moderators have been changed to reflect the SME and the relationships the constructs have with the moderators are also developed. As a new addition to the field it can be seen from the developed model that the frequency of re-ordering is an important determinant not only of online procurement but technology acceptance in general. This work will benefit practitioners in SME retail and also the wider SME field when it comes to evaluating whether or not to accept a new technology and how this is best achieved.

▼ This study examines the effects that individual personality traits have on
technology acceptance. Previous research on
technology acceptance focuses primarily on
exogenous variables such as trustor?s perceptions, attitudes, computer anxiety, positive or
negative affect, age, and experience. This research seeks to improve our understanding of
technology acceptance by examining user interpersonal traits as the underpinnings of user
perceptions of
technology and disposition to trust. A general theory of personality, the
interpersonal circumplex (IPC) model, is used here as a framework to explain IT-users?
computer self-efficacy, computer anxiety, and perceptions about- and trust in
technology.
The interpersonal circumplex model is well established and provides a strong foundation
for understanding interaction styles and interpersonal trust. Based on the interpersonal
circumplex model, I develop predictions about how various personality types will interact
with
technology acceptance model (TAM) related variables: that is, I predict how
individuals with different interpersonal traits will rate the following: their computer selfefficacy,
computer anxiety, and perceptions of an information system?s performance; the
system?s trustworthiness, ease of use, usefulness; as well as the user?s behavioral
intention to use the system in the future. In general, I hypothesize that a computer user?s
blend of the primary interpersonal dimensions of Control and Affiliation influences his or
her responses to computer usage related questions. In this study, student-participants
completed an on-line assessment of their interpersonal dispositions, using the Circumplex Scales of Interpersonal Values (CSIV; Locke, 2000); subsequently the studentparticipants
reported their perceptions of- and trust in a computer-based learning system
that they used as part of their class. In particular, this research suggests that the
Communality (Affiliation) dimension of personality, as measured by the CSIV, indicates
particular and significant correlations to user?s computer anxiety, perceived system
performance, perceived usefulness (of the
technology), and behavioral intent to use (IT)
in the future. The Interpersonal Circumplex demonstrates improved acuity in detecting
personality differences that may impact the way users respond to, perceive, and evaluate
technology. As a new tool for information systems research, the IPC shows potential to
provide further insight into IS theory by building a bridge between interpersonal theory
and
technology acceptance models.

▼ The large increasing popularity of social media has led more than 1.35 billion active users in Facebook by the end of 2014, while other social media, such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Google + and LinkedIn â¦, which have a big gap between users and active users. According to the statistical results on the website, TechCrunch, in 2014, Youtube has more members than the Twitter, but the proportions of active users are almost the same. Furthermore, the members of Google + are more than Twitter, but the active users are less than Twitter. What makes the differences? We try to figure out what the key variables of service quality affect the attitude toward using and behavioral intention of social media usage. The core of this study is fundamental in developing future understandings and deployment of social media sites.
This study is based on the seven constructs of e-SERVAQAL proposed by Zeithaml, Parasuraman, and Malhotra (2000, 2002), and combine the other two constructs of
technology acceptance model (TAM) proposed by Davis, Bagozzi, and Warshaw, (1989), to understand how efficiency, fulfillment, reliability, privacy, responsiveness, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use cause different influence on the Attitude toward using and behavioral intentions.
The questionnaire was distributed in Taiwan, and the target individuals were members of social networking sites, Facebook and Instagram. A total of 200 online questionnaires offered 190 usable questionnaires for use, and non-member participants were excluded. The conclusion can help us gain a better understanding of social media usage. The results indicate thatï¼ 1. attitude toward using has significant positive impacts on behavioral intentions. 2. perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have significant positive impacts on attitude toward using. Thus, we propose two suggestions to relative organizations as a reference. 1. Efficiency and ease of use improments. 2. Sorting the information, and ensure the usefulness of social media sites.

▼ This study developed and empirically examined a model to help understand how key individuals in businesses decide on whether or not to buy and utilise technology in the context of managing their obligations in relation to business taxes. In restricting the frame of reference to a taxation context, it enabled a link to be made to individual decision making, as it is ordinarily the case that one lead buyer is evident in the context of tax and technology in organisations. The model was developed from a review of extant literature in the areas of technology acceptance, behavioural intention, and consumer and business buying models. The overall model was built on a framework that has at its core the Augmented Technology Acceptance Model (Taylor & Todd, 1995a). A correspondence between attitude to use of the technology and product quality is theorised, allowing a connection to a wider model of purchase intention. The initial model was developed with thirteen hypotheses, ultimately leading to an examination of intention to buy tax technology. After an initial pilot study, in the main study a questionnaire was designed to capture empirical data for measurements related to the model. Data collected from 125 informants (i.e. senior tax staff in large organisations) about tax technology buying decisions they were currently considering was used to empirically test the model, using Structural Equation Modelling. The low sample size caused a need to simplify the original model to retain statistical power. This had the result of reducing the number of hypotheses to ten. The analysis was performed testing the measurement model and the model fit and thereby investigating its underlying hypotheses. The results supported the key hypotheses and the overall explanatory power of the model in examining intention to buy tax technology was strong. The use of technology acceptance principles as core to helping explain buying intention for tax technology was strongly supported. Only one hypothesis was not supported, relating to a proposed positive relationship between Relationship Quality and Intention to Buy constructs. Potential explanations for this finding with regard to relationship quality were introduced. The general research contributions and implications of the study were also discussed.

▼ Mobile banking is a new banking medium by which customers can check their account
balances and do transactions on-the-go. All a customer needs is a mobile device along with
3G connectivity. In most studies it has been observed that mobile banking is in the nascent
stage and has yet to reach its potential of becoming the primary channel of contact for
addressing the banking needs of customers.
The aim of this study was to determine the factors that influence the adoption of mobile
banking in New Zealand. The research model was based on the Technology Acceptance
model and tests the constructs identified through the focus group discussion. A survey was
developed to obtain responses from various segments of the society who may or may not have
heard of mobile banking. The findings showed that some factors pertaining to trust,
usefulness and risk drive the usage of mobile banking in New Zealand. Perceived risk was
identified as a major inhibitor in the adoption of mobile banking amongst the users.

▼ The Republic of Moldova is losing many of its citizens to more lucrative economic opportunities abroad. Remittances from emigrants, in many various forms, have become vital agents in the Moldovan economy. This thesis investigated whether remittance activity among immigrants from Moldova in the United States and Canada might be used as a model for an effective strategy to spread public health information amongst Moldovans. Specifically, two studies examined whether remittance behavior among Moldovans living in The United States and Canada predicted their perceptions that a "knowledge remittance" strategy for public health information would be effective and their interest in participating in a knowledge remittance effort. Grounded in the extended
Technology Acceptance Model (TAM2), two studies evaluated the remittance relationship. Study 1, an exploratory online survey (n = 15), indicated that Moldovan immigrants living in the United States and Canada that have a generally positive attitude towards capital and knowledge remittances will tend to perceive the transmission of knowledge remittances as useful. There was tentative support for the correlation of perceived usefulness with the intention to remit knowledge. Study 2 (n = 5) consisted of qualitative interviews and found that Moldovan immigrants living in the United States and Canada have access to the Internet and frequently use the
technology to contact family in Moldova at home. Interviewees had a generally positive view of both capital and knowledge remittances, though they were in disagreement on the major health risks facing Moldova. The findings of these studies suggest that a remittance propagated health campaign is a possible resolution to poor health knowledge in Moldova.

▼ Rapid advancements in information
technology has created a variety of new construction-related software packages and applications that have a significant influence on the role of quantity surveying. The extent of these developments need to be determined, as well as the examination of mitigating influences, which might have an effect on
technology usage. The main objectives of this study was to determine whether emergent new technologies duplicated the activities of traditional QSs, and what, if any, areas and services rendered by QSs might be affected if new software packages and applications were embraced. The study examined whether these new technologies were used by QSs in their firms and practices to advance the range of the services they rendered to the construction industry, and whether QSs were embracing their full potential.
This study used quantitative methods and utilised questionnaires as the survey instrument for data collection. Relevant previous studies on
technology and its potential to affect operations in construction were researched to guide the research design and methods. The collected data were statistically analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v 25.
A sample of 178 QSs were drawn from the Durban area who were self-employed QSs as well as QS professionals employed in industry. The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS) and the South African Council for Quantity Surveying Professionals (SACQSP) databases provided the contact information of registered QSs practicing in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. QSs without professional affiliations were also surveyed.
The findings of the study sought to improve the services currently offered by QSs and the potential of technological advancements and developments. This research found that larger firms in terms of annual turnover, employed more QSs; barriers to new
technology adoption created limitations on
technology acceptance; and high performance expectancies increased the ease of the use of
technology/effort expectancy and subsequent
acceptance of new technological advances. Further, the study found that new construction-related software packages and applications did not duplicate and affect the roles, functions, activities and services of traditional QS in the construction sector and that QSs had in fact embraced new
technology and the potential it offered. The study also found that the
acceptance determinants of
technology usage affect the adoption of new
technology by QSs, and in particular, social influence and top management support were the primary determinants for user
acceptance of new
technology in the QS industry. The findings also suggest that qualification has emerged as the biggest agitator to determinants of
technology use, and that social influence and top management support are the biggest proponents for user
acceptance of new
technology in the QS industry; and this requires further investigation.
