As ocorr?ncias cient?fico-interpretativas da m?sica na Amaz?nia s?o ainda uma car?ncia significativa do ponto de vista da hist?ria da m?sica. Com intuito de identificar as ocorr?ncias de Amaz?nia na obra de Arnaldo Rebello, procedemos a cataloga??o da produ??o composicional para piano, elencamos as can??es, e localizamos as atua??es deste compositor como pianista, professor, divulgados da m?sica brasileira. A compreens?o do estado do campo e do habitus no qual interagiu o compositor foi a base te?rico-metodol?gica para o desvelamento das redes de op??es composicionais e concep??es amaz?nicas constru?das a partir do social. Das m?ltiplas interpreta??es de Amaz?nia analisamos o repert?rio pian?stico, localizando sonoridades, pessoas e paisagens no qual o compositor foi influenciado. The Amazon played by Arnaldo Rebello in his body of work is an important part of the musical production of northern Brazil. The scientific and interpretive occurrences music on Amazon are still a significant lack from the point of view of music history. In order to identify instances of Amazon in the work of Arnaldo Rebello, we proceeded to catalog the compositional output for piano, the songs list and locate the performances of this composer as pianist, teacher, published in Brazilian music. Understanding of the state of the field and habitus in which interacted the composer was the theoretical and methodological basis for the unveiling the options of compositional networks and Amazonian conceptions built up from the social. Of multiple interpretations of Amazon we analyze the pianistic repertoire, localizing sounds, people and landscapes in which the composer was influenced. With also the influences of the music scene at the time composed especially by metal bands from Manaus to the early 20th century and the intense activity old-fashioned compared piano. We conclude that synaesthetic Amazon is very present in this repertoire the sonorities, colors, flavors and sounds, as well as relations of Arnaldo Rebello sociabilities, present in the titles, in dedications, and especially in sonorities that are presented, as well as its placement in the musical field and in several instances of validation.

A Amazônia interpretada por Arnaldo Rebello no conjunto de sua obra é parte importante da produção musical da região norte do Brasil. As ocorrências científico-interpretativas da música na Amazônia são ainda uma carência significativa do ponto de vista da história da música. Com intuito de identificar as ocorrências de Amazônia na obra de Arnaldo Rebello, procedemos a catalogação da produção composicional para piano, elencamos as canções, e localizamos as atuações deste compositor como pianista, professor, divulgados da música brasileira. A compreensão do estado do campo e do habitus no qual interagiu o compositor foi a base teórico-metodológica para o desvelamento das redes de opções composicionais e concepções amazônicas construídas a partir do social. Das múltiplas interpretações de Amazônia analisamos o repertório pianístico, localizando sonoridades, pessoas e paisagens no qual o compositor foi influenciado. Com também as influências do cenário musical à época composto especialmente pelas bandas de metais de Manaus do início do século XX e da intensa atividade pianística coeva. Concluímos que essa Amazônia sinestésica é muito presente neste repertório, as sonoridades, cores, sabores e sons, bem como as relações de sociabilidades de Arnaldo Rebello, presentes nos títulos, nas dedicatórias, e especialmente nas sonoridades que são apresentadas, bem como a sua colocação no campo musical e nas variadas instâncias de validação.

▼ The purpose of this qualitative research study was to explore docents’ perceptions of their interpretive role in art museums and determine how those perceptions shape docents’ practice. The objective was to better understand how docents conceive of their role and what shapes the interpretation they give on tours to the public. The conceptual frameworks that informed the study were hermeneutics and symbolic interactionism. Hermeneutical principles lend themselves well to understanding how docents act as messengers of meaning and translate concepts to tour-goers. Symbolic interactionism captured the symbiotic nature of the interpretive process carried out on tours, as docents’ perceptions and role changes as a result of time, experience, and interactions with tour-goers. The study offers a view into the world of volunteer adult educators who work in the nonformal education setting of museums. Trained by the museum and responsible for educating museum visitors, tour-goers are entrusted with docents to learn about museums’ collections on walking tours through the galleries. Utilizing a basic interpretive research design, the study offers understanding into how educators teach in nonformal settings, explains about how tours vary by docent, helps docent trainers and museum administrators understand how docents perform interpretation, and offers two conceptual frameworks for future research in the field of interpretation. Data collection was completed through observation and semi-structured interviews. Fourteen participants came from four different art museums in northeastern United States. The study contributes to the fields of adult education, museum education, and interpretation. First, participants delivered an individualized tour that demonstrated their dedication to their role and to the institution. Second, docents threw light upon foreign objects or made them clear to tour-goers in a number of ways. Third, docents projected their horizon of meaning based on a number of tour-goer related factors in an effort to create a tailored educational interaction. Fourth, the outcomes docents hoped to achieve for themselves and tour-goers were described. Findings speak to the purposefulness of these adult educators in interpreting art objects to tour-goers. The theoretical frameworks do not completely explain the intentional actions docents made to solicit reactions by and engagement with tour-goers. Participants demonstrated the theory of constructivism on tours, but some interpretive techniques from the transmission model of learning, such as storytelling, were practiced. The unbounded nature of the content may explain some of the constructivist tendencies. The current model of nonformal education could be expanded. Ce travail propose une approche novatrice de l’étude des sculptures préhispaniques de l’Altiplano. En nous concentrant sur les pièces de la culture Pucara, c’est toute la vision du monde andin que nous revisitons. Après avoir énuméré les travaux antérieurs et les lacunes qui perdurent, nous procédons à une redéfinition complète du phénomène Pucara. Pour cela, nous utilisons la grande quantité de pièces inédites que nous avons pu inventorier au cours de nos voyages de recherche dans la région. De même, nous réalisons une étude comparative plus globale comprenant l’ensemble des styles affiliés Yaya-Mama, Tiahuanaco ou encore Khonkho Wankane. De la sorte, c’est tout le panorama culturel de cette région des Andes que nous revisitons. Il en découle une description précise des critères d’attributions stylistiques propres à chaque culture, ainsi que l’élaboration de normes de création strictes. Mais dans le même temps, nous mettons en évidence la continuité culturelle qui existe entre les différents phénomènes. Nous aboutissons à une chronologie relative des sculptures Pucara et de l’ensemble du bassin du lac Titicaca, tout en démontrant l’existence de phases de transition. Ces éléments rompent radicalement avec la théorie en place énonçant une disparition soudaine de la culture Pucara. Fort de cette nouvelle vision, nous proposons une lecture symbolique de l’iconographie présente sur ces vestiges. Par cette analyse en profondeur, nous extirpons le phénomène Pucara de son isolement. En fin de compte, nous illustrons comment les sculptures Pucara expriment une tradition pan-andine tout en conservant une forte identité régionale.

This thesis introduces an innovative approach for the Altiplano’s sculptures study of the pre-hispanic times. Focusing on the lithic elements produced by the Pucara culture, our conception of the Andean world is revisited. After the reminder of anterior works and lacks that remain, a complete redefinition of the Pucara phenomenon is given. For that, we use the important quantity of unpublished elements, recorded during our research journeys in this region. In the same way, a more global comparative study is realized, including the whole affiliated styles: Yaya-Mama, Tiahuanaco and also Khonkho Wankane. Thus, we revisit all the cultural overview of this Andean region. Following, we make a precise description of the stylistic criteria specifics to each culture, as well as the elaboration of strict creation standards. However, at the same time, the cultural continuity existing in each phenomenon is highlighted. We come up to a relative chronology of the Pucara sculptures and for the entire Lake Titicaca basin, while demonstrating the existence of transition phases. These elements break radically with the current theory that states a sudden disappearance of the Pucara culture. With this new vision, we propose a symbolical reading of the iconography shown on these artifacts. By our profound analysis, the Pucara phenomenon is taken out of its isolation. Assurer le passage à l’échelle des analyseurs statiques définis par interprétation abstraite pose des difficultés. Une méthode classique d’accélération consiste en la découverte et la réutilisation de contrats satisfaits par certaines commandes du code source. Cette thèse s’intéresse à un sous-ensemble de C qui ne permet pas la récursivité, pour lequel on définit un analyseur modulaire capable d’inférer, de prouver et d'exploiter de tels contrats. Notre analyse est défini au-dessus d’un analyseur C existant et est donc capable de manipuler des types unions, des types structures, des tableaux, des allocations de mémoire (statique et dynamique), des pointeurs, y compris l'arithmétique de pointeur et le transtypage, appels de fonction, des chaînes de caractères, .... La représentation des chaînes de caractère est gérée par un nouveau domaine abstrait défini dans cette thèse. Nous proposons de plus une technique paramétrique de transformation de la sémantique classique des domaines abstraits vers une sémantique d’ensembles hétérogènes. Cette technique ne maintient qu’un seul état abstrait numérique, par opposition au partitionnement. Finalement nous proposons un domaine abstrait capable de représenter des ensembles d’arbres dont les feuilles peuvent contenir des labels numériques. Cette abstraction est basée sur les langages régulier (d'arbre), et délègue une partie de son abstraction à un domaine numérique sous-jacent. Cette thèse s’étant déroulée au sein du projet mopsa, nous donnons donc un aperçu de certains résultats obtenus par l’équipe pendant la thèse.

Ensuring the scalability of static analyzers defined by abstract interpretation poses difficulties. A classical technique known to speed up analyses is the discovery and reuse of summaries for some of the sequences of statements of the source code. In this thesis we focus on a subset of C that does not allow recursion and define a modular analyzer, able to infer, prove and use (to improve the efficiency) such summaries. Our modular analyzer is built on top of an existing C analyzer and is therefore able to handle unions, structures, arrays, memory allocations (static and dynamic), pointers, pointer arithmetics, pointer casts, function calls, string manipulations, ... . String handling is provided by a new abstract domain defined in this thesis. In this thesis we provide a lifting of classical numerical abstract domains to the representation of heterogeneous sets. This lifting can be used for relational domains and maintains only one numerical abstract state, by opposition to partitioning. The last point of interest of this thesis is the definition of an abstract domain able to represent sets of trees with numerically labeled leaves. This abstraction is based on regular and tree regular languages and delegates the handling of numerical constraints to an underlying domain able to represent heterogeneous sets of environments. As the thesis took place in the mopsa project, we provide an overview of some of the results obtained by the mopsa team during the thesis.

▼ Static analysis and systematic software testing are two fundamental techniques that aim to ensure software quality. Recently, there has been an obvious interest in exploiting the strengths of these two techniques to work together to attain their goals effectively. Dynamic Symbolic Execution (DSE) is an example of a unique collaboration between these two techniques. It is a non-standard execution mechanism which, loosely, executes a program symbolically and, simultaneously, on concrete input. Thus, DSE simultaneously and symbolically follows all possible executable paths in the program with a goal of achieving high coverage for some chosen definition of coverage. In practice, the massive number of program paths to be explored and the number of constraints to be solved hinder scalability of DSE. This problem is referred to as path explosion. Path explosion can be caused by nested calls, loops and conditionals, and particularly loops whose termination depend on program inputs. The problem is made worse in the presence of indirect relations between symbolic and non-symbolic variables in the program under tests. This can significantly affect DSE efficiency. In addition, automated testing is not widely adopted in practice due to the lack of test oracles. Hence, DSE is mainly applied as a fuzzing technique, in which a large number of test inputs are generated to detect some generic errors (e.g., buffer overflows or security violations). The approach does not reveal faults that are domain specific, thus; its fault detection effectiveness in functional testing is not clear. In this thesis, we propose that understanding available static and dynamic analysis techniques, and leveraging their strength to complement each other is an effective approach to mitigate path explosion problem in DSE. We propose a conceptual framework for a comparative analysis of program analysis techniques, and we use it to define proposed techniques in this thesis to support DSE. Having considered this view, our research aims at improving DSE efficiency and fault detection effectiveness by exploiting program relational information about the values that variables take at run-time. This information is obtained from available static and dynamic analysis techniques at two levels. First, we employ “descriptive relations” about program internal behaviour to support DSE in order to tackle path explosion caused mainly by loops. We obtain these relations from static analysis by abstract interpretation; we use its ability to approximate program run-time states to compute interesting properties including relations between program variables that could be missed in DSE. Second, we suggest enhancing fault detection effectiveness of DSE, in the context of functional testing, by using domain specific relations that prescribe how inputs and outputs should be related. ▼ This work argues that Nietzsche employs the circle image to communicate his idea of eternal recurrence in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. The recurrences of circular and diurnal symbols (cycles) represent the eternal return on both contextual and narrative levels, thereby creating within the narrative the ring of rings, the ring of recurrence, i.e., affirmation of affirmation, as implicit in the circular image of the will willing itself. Importantly, it demonstrates that diurnal symbols represent the eternal recurrence by returning to themselves in the text, while Zarathustra’s identity changes throughout the diurnal cycle: morning symbolises his rebirth; noon, his maturity; evening, his decline; and midnight, his death – thereby manifesting the literary hero’s affirmative, creative response to meaningless existence in accordance with the doctrine of life affirmation. Nietzsche’s work is revealed to harbour a hidden symbolic diurnal structure comprised of twelve chronological diurnal cycles representing his most abysmal thought. The underlying structure revealed by this reading demonstrates the eternal recurrence to be the unifying idea of Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Conflicts in existing interpretations of the eternal return reflect their commentators’ failure to solve the problem of its communication in Nietzsche’s work due to their underestimation of the symbolic form of the doctrine. Employing the methods of analogy and association, this project undertakes to solve this problem by examining the relation between the circular and diurnal symbols and the eternal recurrence. Careful analysis reveals the three-dimensional character of the doctrine as the return of the moment inaugurating the moment and sequence of time: the return of same meaninglessness, meaningful differences, and same meaningfulness – through the roundness (moment, or same meaningfulness) and continuity (sequence, or meaningful differences) of circular symbols and the moment (moment, or same meaningfulness) and temporality (sequence, or meaningful differences) of diurnal symbols, employed to counter the same meaninglessness of daily existence. Thus, while the circular and diurnal symbols incorporate the idea of eternal recurrence, thereby emphasising its life-affirmative aspect, the eternal return calls for the creative recurrence of circular and diurnal symbols, with the symbols and the eternal return merged into one creative, affirmative whole.
