▼ The study on attitude towards PLWHA was conducted as part of the effort at understanding some of the problems that face PLWHA in Ghana, with the general objective of examining the magnitude of the problem of attitude towards PLWHA. A total of 4916 women aged 15-49 years and 4568 men aged 15-59 years were interviewed in the 2008 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS), however 5472 respondents consisting of 2816 women aged 15-49 years and 2656 men aged 15-59 years were used for the analysis because they responded to the questions on HIV. The qualitative method was used to collect the primary data for the study. In-depth interview was used to collect data from PLWHA in Tema and Agomanya. The study targeted 150 PLWHA, 80 at Agomanya (45 women and 35 men) and 70 in Tema (40 women and 30 men), but the number was limited to 60, 25 from Tema (14 women and 11 men) and 35 from Agomanya (21 women and 14 men) because these were the PLWHA who were willing to co- operate. The women were aged 20-54 years whiles the men were aged 21-57 years. Purposive sampling was used to collect data for the study, that is, interviewing people who have been diagnosed as having the disease. Univariate, biavariate and multivariate analyses techniques were used in analyzing and presenting the result. The univariate methods such as frequency distributions were used to describe the distribution of respondents by selected socio-demographic characteristics, comprehensive knowledge about AIDS (Knowledge of HIV prevention methods, misconception about AIDS and Knowledge of HIV transmission) and attitude towards PLWHA. The bivariate analysis seeks to investigate the association between the independent variables, (socio- demographic characteristics) and the intermediate variables (Comprehensive knowledge about AIDS, Knowledge of HIV prevention methods, misconception about AIDS and Knowledge of HIV transmission), Independent and dependent variables (attitude towards PLWHA). Bivariate analysis was also conducted between the intermediate variable (Comprehensive knowledge about AIDS, its components which are knowledge of HIV prevention methods, misconception about AIDS and knowledge of HIV transmission) and the dependent variable (attitude towards PLWHA). The chi-square test was used to test the differences between proportions at alpha level of 0.05. Ordered logistic regression model was used to determine the socio-demographic factors that predict respondents attitude towards PLWHA controlling for the level of comprehensive knowledge of respondents about AIDS. The outcome variable for the regression model is attitude towards PLWHA. The independent variable (socio- demographic factors) are sex, age, level of education, marital status, religious affiliation, ethnicity, wealth index, occupation and type of place of residence. ▼ Research has shown that Women of Size are victims of particularly strong stigmatization (Hebl & Heatherton, 1998; Myers & Rothblum, 2005; Neumark-Sztainer, Story, & Faibisch, 1998; Quinn & Crocker, 1998; Wang, Brownell, & Wadden, 2004). Much of this previous research has focused on the ways in which thin individuals view People of Size in hypothetical situations (by looking at employment applications, or fictitious patient files, etc.). The goals for this project were: to work with Women of Size to learn how being members of this stigmatized group influences their lives; to explore how Theatre of the Oppressed methods can address the needs of a stigmatized group who may have internalized the stigma; to explore both the individual stories and shared meanings of the experiences of Women of Size; and to conduct research that acknowledges that in order to understand stigmatization, you need to talk to the victims of the stigma. It is the supposition of this project that experiencing fat stigmatization has a Silencing effect on women. In order to address this issue and get around this Silencing, a Theatre of the Oppressed based methodology, along with interviews, was used with a group of Women of Size. Theatre of the Oppressed is an activist theatre method which involves engaging in theatre games to get participants comfortable with exploring issues in a physical manner, creating images that are visual responses to a prompt such as “Show me what it is like to be a Woman of Size”, and, arranging a scene that has a conflict in it, with the goal of repeating the scene several times while trying out possible solutions to the conflict. Eleven women were interviewed about their experiences as Women of Size, 6 of whom then participated together in the Theatre of the Oppressed workshop. Results indicated that these women had many experiences with stigmatization in their lives that led to internalization of negative messages. Självstigmatisering är en komplex process som innebär att personer riskerar att ta till sig negativa stereotyper och attityder som riktas mot dem. Under de senaste årtiondena har intresset ökat kring självstigmatisering men det finns fortfarande lite forskningen kring fenomenet. Syftet med studien var att beskriva självstigmatisering hos personer med schizofreni. Studien utfördes som en litteraturstudie, där åtta vetenskapliga artiklar har granskats och analyserats. Resultatet visade att det finns ett flertal olika faktorer som påverkar graden av självstigmatisering hos personer med schizofreni, bland annat antalet psykiatriska inläggningar och sjukdomens svårighetsgrad. Självstigmatisering visade sig också resultera i en negativ syn på sig själv och sina egna förmågor. Ytterligare kvantitativ forskning behövs, men det finns också ett stort behov av kvalitativ forskning som fokuserar på individens egna erfarenheter och upplevelser av självstigmatisering. Vården behöver bli bättre på att förstå och uppmärksamma självstigmatisering. Evidensbaserad omvårdnad behöver utvecklas utifrån omvårdnadsprocessens alla steg för att minska självstigmatisering.

Self-stigmatization is a complex process which implies that the person might internalize negative stereotypes and attitudes that are directed towards them. The interest for self-stigmatization has increased during the last decade, but there is still little research on the phenomenon. The aim of this study was to describe self-stigmatization amongst people with schizophrenia. The study was conducted as a literature study, where eight scientific articles were reviewed and analyzed. The results showed that the degree of self-stigmatization amongst people with schizophrenia was affected by a various of factors, including the number of psychiatric hospitalizations and the severity of the illness. Self-stigmatization also proved to result in a negative view on oneself and the own abilities. Further quantitative research is needed, but there is also a great need for qualitative research that focuses on individual’s own experiences. The health care needs to better understand and pay attention to self-stigmatization. Efforts in evidence-based nursing also needs to be developed based on all the steps in the nursing process to reduce self-stigmatization.

▼ Cities are growing and are fast becoming more diverse. At the same time, the technological development makes it easier and easier to keep in touch with friends and family over longer distances. These changes affect cities and how people live in them, and one might expect that the role of neighbourhoods has changed as well and perhaps even has diminished as a result. At the same time, different groups of residents are in possession of different physical, financial and social resources, which might result in the neighbourhood being more important for some groups than others. This is the starting point of this thesis, where the research question is "How important is the residential neighbourhood and its diversity for different groups of residents in different neighbourhoods?". This is studied by looking at residents' social networks and daily activities In Sydhavnen in Copenhagen and comparing the results to another study of Bispebjerg, another neighbourhood in Copenhagen. Existing literature studying what affects neighbourhoods and the residents living there is plentiful, and presents a list of expectations towards the residents and their use of neighbourhoods. Territorial stigmatization is e.g. expected to reduce residents' social networks and activities outside the neighbourhood, and high diversity is not expected to translate into diverse social networks, but might instead pose a threat to social cohesion. Furthermore, the neighbourhood is expected to be more important to certain resident groups. Elderly, families with children living at home and ethnic minorities are expected to have their life more centred around the neighbourhood than others. In Sydhavnen several expectations were met, but many also differed. First, stigmatization did not seem to negatively affect the residents. Rather it is positive, as the stigma is related to high diversity, it makes the residents feel at home no matter their background. Stigma also keeps housing prices relatively low, which is important to the many of the residents. Second, it was found that elderly did in fact have the majority of both their daily activities and social network within the neighbourhood. Families with children and ethnic minorities also had more close friends within the neighbourhood, but their patterns of activities did not differ from those without children and the ethnic Danes respectively. Differences were also found between Bispebjerg and Sydhavnen. Residents with lower socio-economic status in Bispebjerg were e.g. found to have smaller local social networks, while this group in Sydhavnen had the largest networks, perhaps explained by them having lived there the longest. The conclusion of the thesis is, that even though the neighbourhood perhaps does not have the same meaning that it did a few decades ago, it has not lost its importance. The neighbourhood still plays an active role in residents' daily lives, and even more so for the elderly, ethnic minorities and families with children. Advisors/Committee Members: Bolt, G..

Detta är en litteraturbaserad studie som belyser ungdomars upplevelser av att leva med en ADHD-diagnos, samt vilken påverkan diagnosen har för den enskilde individen och samhället i stort. Många svårigheter i vardagen framkommer, så även brister i kunskap, bemötande och samverkan från sjukvårdens sida. ADHD är en neuropsykiatrisk funktionsnedsättning som karaktäriseras av brister i uppmärksamhet, impulskontroll och reglering av aktivitetsnivå. ADHD hos ungdomar är associerat med risker som exempelvis utvecklandet av psykiatriska samsjukliga tillstånd, drogproblem och kriminellt leverne. Ungdomar med ADHD beskrivs vara känsliga för negativ miljöpåverkan och beteenden relaterade till diagnosen påvisas kunna leda till stigmatisering och diskriminering. Trots att behandling för ADHD i många fall leder till en bättre funktion för individerna är behandlingsföljsamheten låg. Det framkommer att många väljer att avsluta sin sjukvårdskontakt och behandling, specifikt i övergångsåldern mellan ungdom till vuxen. Resultatet lyfter att ADHD i många fall leder till stora svårigheter i vardagen och ungdomarna rapporterar ett stort omvårdnadsbehov. Brister i delgivning av information framkommer vid kontakten med sjukvården. Så även brister i upplevelser av behandling samt bemötande. För att kunna främja hälsa ur ett holistiskt synsätt, krävs bättre samverkan mellan de olika aktörer i samhället som är i kontakt med denna patientgrupp. Sjuksköterskan möter individer med ADHD inom både den somatiska och psykiatriska delen av vården. Hanteringen av diagnosens yttranden hos patienterna ställer i många fall högra krav på kompetensen hos sjuksköterskan. Sjuksköterskor inom både den somatiska och psykiatriska delen av vården behöver mer kunskap om ADHD och diagnosens yttranden för att kunna tillhandahålla personcentrerad vård med ett gott bemötande till patientgruppen.

Background: ADHD is a neuropsychiatric disorder which characteristics has been proven to cause many difficulties in the everyday life, both from an individual perspective and in society as a whole. The diagnosis is associated with high mortality, drug use, deviance behaviour, criminality and the individuals who's been diagnosed and treated often experiences stigmatization. The health care and especially the nurse plays a big role in the management and caring for these patients. The core essence of nursing is to promote health through a holistic approach and relieve the suffering which these patients experience. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how adolescents and young adults with ADHD experiences their everyday life, and how the diagnose influence their psychosocial function. Method: This study is formed as a literature review based on ten scientifical articles, which was conducted through a systematic literature search. ▼ The purpose of this study was to examine the level and pattern of stigmatization and discrimination against PLWHAs and its implications for spread and prevention in the Nsawam/Adoagyiri municipality in the Eastern region of Ghana. Data were gathered quantitatively with some qualitative supplementary data. The quantitative data were gathered through administration of questionnaires to 70 persons living with HIV/AIDS, with the qualitative data been gathered through in-depth interviews with one health worker and two NGOs operating in the municipality. Focus group discussion was also conducted with 20 community members to supplement the quantitative data. Two focus group discussions were conducted and each group was made up of 10 participants. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences software was used for the quantitative data analysis. Data from the in-depth interviews and focus group discussion were tape recorded, transcribed under themes and used as supplementary information for the quantitative data. Both probability and non-probability sampling techniques were used in the selection of the total number of respondents to be interviewed. Both primary data and secondary information were used. Majority of respondents’ educational level was relatively low as most of them had either primary education, Junior High or middle school education or secondary education with a very small percentage of them who had post-secondary education. Most of them were traders, farmers, doing other jobs or unemployed. The main mode of HIV/AIDS contraction was through sexual intercourse. Respondents who had experienced stigmatization and discrimination as a result of their status were less than those who had never experienced it. However, the proportion of females who had ever experienced stigma and discrimination was higher than that of the males. Stigmatization and discrimination mostly took the form of verbal assault, social stigma and job loss. Those who had ever experienced stigma and discrimination believed they were been stigmatized as result of the mentality people have about the disease that it is infectious and deadly. Stigmatization and discrimination had affected respondents’ lives in numerous ways. Respondents were shocked, sad or doubtful upon hearing their status for the first time. More males reported being shocked than the females whereas more females expressed sadness than males. Respondents who were co-habiting or single but with sexual partners had not gathered the courage to inform their partners about their status but a sizeable number of the respondents who were married had disclosed to their partners. As a coping mechanism, respondents who had disclosed their status to people decided not to do further disclosure due to their experience of stigma upon their first disclosure. Others had decided not to disclose their status at all to prevent any form of stigma. A maior parte das famílias de baixa renda atribui à escola a solução para os seus problemas sociais, vendo no aparelho escolar a única chance de ascensão social. Contudo, cabe aqui perguntar: Qual é o espaço das crianças pobres dentro da escola publica? Afinal, quando inseridas dentro do sistema educacional, em sua maioria demonstram grande dificuldade para avançar, criando assim um grande problema para instituição escolar, uma vez que crianças que não conseguem obter sucesso nos primeiros anos do ensino fundamental acabam arrastando esse fracasso ao longo de toda sua vida escolar. Para essas crianças, foram criados os programas de auxilio pedagógico. Mas até que ponto eles ajudam e onde acabam por estigmatizar os alunos que deles participam? Na tentativa de responder essa pergunta, este trabalho buscou fazer a análise de alguns projetos de auxilio pedagógico que propuseram a mudança da realidade educacional, dando mais oportunidades de avanços às crianças de baixa renda. A pesquisa procura saber se eles realmente cumpriram com a sua finalidade ou acabaram por estigmatizar os alunos que participaram destes projetos de auxilio pedagógico.

Most low income families assign to the school system the solutions to their social problems, seeing in the school apparatus the only chance for social climb. However, it is worth asking: what is the role of low-income familiess children within the public shcool? After all, when they are inserted into the educational system, mostly they show great difficulty to move along, thus creating a major problem for the school, since children who can not suceed in the first years of elementary school end up dragging this failure throughout their school life. For these children, educational assistance programs were created. But in what extent do they help and where they end up stigmatizing students who participate in those initiatives? In attempting to answer this questions, this study make the analysis of some educational assistance programs who proposed changes in the educational reality, offering more opportunities of progress for low-income children. The research is willing to establish whether they actually complied with its purpose or ultimately stigmatize students who participate in these projects.

▼ Stigmatization and discrimination of PLWHA by some pastors and some church members are challenges and serious problems that are affecting PLWHA in the Reformed Church in Zambia and in other denominations within Zambia. The aim of this research is to explore ways of loving and embracing PLWHA who are already affected with the problem of stigma in the RCZ. The research will help deal with the problems of despising, condemning, rejecting and isolating of PLWHA by some clergy and some church members. The author seeks to develop a pastoral care model that will empower pastors and church members to love and embrace PLWHA in the church. The other aim of this research is to empower the PLWHA with the pastoral care model that has been developed so that they can be able to cope with the problem of shame, rejection and isolation caused by being stigmatized by some pastors and some church members. This research is focused on the traumatic experiences that the PLWHA go through as they continue being members of the church. Their fellowship with God and their fellow church members happen to be affected as some of them discontinue being church members. This research study explored a model of pastoral care in which the affected PLWHA have to be helped to acquire healing after trauma counselling by the pastoral caregivers who are empowered by this research. A model which has been employed in this research includes the one of the shepherding model of Charles Gerkin and of Adams which is on pastoral care as shepherding of flocks which belong to God. The word of God has been used to explore where the researcher wanted to show His love towards his people even when they are under difficulty circumstances. The research has also indicated roles of different groups and individuals who should contribute to the healing of PLWHA who are traumatized by being stigmatized by some pastors and some church members. At the end of this research study, there are concluding remarks which have led to recommendations that readers have to take note of. Advisors/Committee Members: Prof M J Masango (advisor).

▼ The aim of this novel piece of research was to explore experiences of self-stigma amongst a group of older people (aged 65+) currently using mental health services. In order to try and identify possible contributing factors to internalized stigma it was also decided to gather information on optimism and a baseline measure of distress. These scores were all compared with the individual???s likeliness to continue to use the mental health services as it was hypothesized that higher levels of self-stigma would be linked with a lower likelihood to continue to use services. Fourteen participants (age range 65-92) from three different geographical areas agreed to take part having been approached by a mental health professional known to them. Interviews were then arranged directly with each participant, with each interview being made up of three questionnaire measures to rate levels of distress, optimism and experiences of mental health stigma, a Likelihood to Continue to Use Services rating scale, and a repertory grid. The repertory grids had been specifically designed to explore the construct systems of the participants in relation to their age. The main finding was that experiences of mental health stigma were minimal, but that participants showed some signs of internalizing ageist attitudes. However, neither of these variables was correlated with a likelihood to continue to use services, suggesting that it is factors other than mental health stigma and age stigma and selfstigmatization that impact on an older person???s decision to continue to engage with mental health services or not. The small sample size also meant that power was lacking from the findings, indicating that further research needs to be carried out. This study has opened up a research area which needs further ongoing investigation in order to fully explore the clinical implications of self-stigma in relation to age and mental health problems. Areas of potential future research are offered and briefly explored.

▼ Introduction: Mother-to-Child Transmission (MTCT) is the main source of HIV in children. In an attempt to curb this, the UNAIDS in the year 2009 called for the elimination of MTCT of HIV by the year 2015. Ghana began the implementation of PMTCT in the year 2001, using an intervention package made up of four prongs. Study Objectives: This study investigated the factors that affected the implementation of PMTCT of HIV in Tema General Hospital from 2012 – 2016. It also assessed the knowledge of PMTCT Service Providers regarding PMTCT intervention, and further identified the socio-cultural and economic factors that influenced the implementation of PMTCT in TGH. Methods: The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods. A review of folders of HIV positive pregnant women who attended the ART Clinic from January, 2012 – December 2016, an in-depth interview for PMTCT Service Providers in TGH and a focus group discussion for some current HIV positive nursing mothers in TGH were also used to obtain data. A quantitative data analysis was done using SPSS, STATA and EPI-DATA computer packages for windows. A qualitative data analysis was also done through a thematic analysis using NVivo. Results: The results from the data reviewed indicated that 5 (2.24%) of the exposed children born to the 223 HIV positive women whose data were reviewed were infected with the virus. As high as 81.2% of the participants adhered to the PMTCT program by attending clinic regularly, taking their ARVs as prescribed, and giving ARV prophylaxis to their babies as prescribed. The mothers involved in the focus group discussions demonstrated adequate knowledge in PMTCT practices. They also mentioned stigmatization, beliefs (including superstition and religion) and partner attitude as some of the socio-cultural factors that may have either positive or negative impact on adherence to PMTCT. The PMTCT Service Providers that were included in the in-depth interviews demonstrated an adequate level of knowledge by explaining the importance of PMTCT, the eligibility for PMTCT services, the exact time for PMTCT service initiation and the timelines for re-testing for HIV in all pregnant women who tested negative to the initial HIV test. They also knew of when to link-up HIV positive women to ART care. Conclusion: Factors such as clients’ adherence to appointment dates, type of gestation (singleton or twins) and administration of ARV prophylaxis to exposed infants were identified to have significant effect on the PCR results of exposed babies. Both PMTCT clients and Service Providers expressed adequate knowledge in the PMTCT program. Some of the identified challenges that hindered the PMTCT program included long waiting time between the PCR tests and delivery of test results, lack of training for Service Providers, heavy workload on Service Providers and some amount of stigmatization meted out to clients by friends and relatives.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka vårdpersonals (N=108) attityder gentemot personer med psykisk ohälsa samt se om skillnader i attityder fanns beroende på respondenternas utbildningsnivå och tidigare erfarenhet av psykisk ohälsa. Studien är en delstudie ur projekt Psykisk Ohälsa som har en prospektiv longitudinell design. För att beskriva attityder gentemot personer med psykisk ohälsa användes frågeformuläret Community Attitudes Towards Mental Illness (CAMI-s). Rekrytering av vårdpersonal skedde via enhetscheferna på ett 70-tal psykiatriska avdelningar och vårdpersonal som dagligen arbetar med människor med psykisk ohälsa tillfrågades om att delta. Resultatet visar inga signifikanta skillnader i attityder mellan olika (yrkesgrupper) utbildningsnivåer och statistisk signifikans återfanns endast vid ett påstående, där respondenterna tog ställning till om det bästa sättet att omhänderta människor med psykisk sjukdom var att låsa in dem. Inga skillnader i attityd upptäcktes beroende på erfarenhet av psykisk ohälsa. Slutsatsen av denna studie visar en övervägande positiv attityd bland vårdpersonal gentemot personer med psykisk ohälsa. Studien visar även, om än i mindre utsträckning än i de artiklar vi jämfört med, att det fortfarande finns tendenser till stigmatiserande och diskriminerande attityder till personer med psykisk ohälsa kvar bland vårdpersonal.

The aim of this study was to examine health professionals’ (N=108) attitudes towards people with mental illness as well as differences in attitudes depending on the respondents level of education and previously experiences of mental illness. The study is a part of the project “Psykisk Ohälsa” that has a prospective longitudinal design. To measure attitudes towards people with mental illness the questionnaire Community Attitudes Towards Mental Illness (CAMI-s) was used. Recruitment of health professionals was made with help from the unit directors on 70 different psychiatric wards and health professionals that worked with people with mental illness on a daily basis was asked to participate. The result shows only minor differences in attitudes towards people with mental illness between different education levels. Statistical significance differences between education level groups, was only found in one claim, where the respondents took a standpoint if the best way to manage people with mental illness was to keep them locked in. Results showed no differences in attitudes depending on experiences of mental illness. The conclusion of this study shows a predominantly positive attitude among health professionals towards people with mental illness. The study also shows, though to a lesser extent, that there are still tendencies to stigmatization and discriminating attitudes towards people with mental illness among health professionals.

Bakgrund: Hiv/aids är en kronisk infektionssjukdom som drabbar immunförsvaret. Viruset smittar via blod, sädesvätska, slidsekret och via förlossning eller amning. Det är vanligt att hiv/aids smittade utsätts för stigmatisering. Stigmatisering innebär diskriminering och nedvärdering av redan utsatta grupper. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka hiv/aids smittade personers upplevelser av stigmatisering. Metod: En litteraturstudie av kvalitativ ansats gjordes och den grundades på fem självbiografier. Innehållsanalysen var baserad på en metod gjord av Dahlborg-Lyckhage (2012). Resultat: I resultatet fann författarna tre huvudkategorier: Hur drabbade stigmatiserar sig själva, Hur hiv/aids drabbade upplevde allmänhetens stigmatisering och Bristande förståelse från omgivningen. Det finns många olika typer av rädslor hos de som lever med hiv/aids, vilket bidrar till självstigmatisering och självvald isolering. Det framkom även att de drabbade utsätts för stigmatisering från allmänheten, t.ex. genom särbehandling, utanförskap och genom andra åtgärder som de drabbade upplevde som kränkande. Detta kunde ofta härledas till bristande förståelse för sjukdomen eller okunskap. Slutsats: Studien visar att självstigmatisering och stigmatisering från allmänheten är vanligt förekommande. Dock krävs det vidare forskning för att kunna styrka studiens resultat och överförbarhet.

Background: HIV/AIDS is a chronic infectious disease of the immune system. The virus is transmitted through blood, semen, vaginal secretions and through childbirth or breastfeeding. It is common that persons living with HIV/AIDS are exposed to stigma. Stigma is defined as discrimination and denigration of already vulnerable groups. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the HIV/AIDS infected people's experiences of stigma. Method: A literature study of qualitative approach was made and it was based on five autobiographies. The content analysis was based on a methodology made of Dahlborg-Lyckhage (2012). Results: In the results, the authors found three main categories: How persons living with HIV/AIDS stigmatize themselves, how HIV/AIDS infected people sufferers as a result of experienced public stigma and lack of understanding from the environment. There are many different types of fears from those living with HIV/AIDS, which contributes to self-stigma and self-imposed isolation. It also emerged that the victims are subjected to stigmatization by the public, such as special treatment, exclusion and by other measures that the victims experienced as insulting. ▼ This essay intervenes in the politics of urban segregation in Stockholm. The main aim of the essay is to analyze and describe how advanced marginality and territorial stigmatization are expressed in the lived experiences of four unemployed youths, that have participated in a labor market training program located in the “social vulnerable” area Rågsved. With a theoretical framework based in Henri Lefebvre’s production of social space the empirical findings are interpreted in regard to how the youths produce social space in dialectical interplay with urban politics, advanced marginality, territorial stigmatization, and their local neighborhood. The empirical material in the study was collected through qualitative interviews with the youths. The method of interviewing, analyzing, and presenting the result is grounded in a phenomenological approach. The historical background for the essay is the politics of urban segregation that has emerged in the metropolitan areas of Sweden. The post-industrial society and advanced sectors in the economy are transforming the labor market, city landscape, and the requirements on workers. This deep transformation process has resulted in social exclusion and inequalities between different groups in the urban city. Unemployment and poverty has been concentrated to the urban periphery of the metropolitan city. The urban periphery is marginalized areas with high concentration of immigrant residents with post-colonial status. The Swedish Metropolitan Committee committed a proposal 1998 for a new urban politics in the beginning of the millennium, which main purpose was to intervene in the ongoing process of ethnic and socioeconomic segregation in the urban landscape. This political-institutional background, within the context of post-industrial society and neoliberal politics, situates the historical framework for the present study. The result in the study points out that the youths are in an insecure position in the contemporary labor market, and constantly reflect their ways of living through the dominated norms of active labor market policies. The youths participation in the labor market training program Rågsved Community Center are described as a positive experience, and they describe how they are fully recognized as individual subjects of the employees. Within the geography of urban segregation, the youths are constantly in a process of mental negotiating about how to determine the space of Rågsved. The space of the “social vulnerable” suburb Rågsved is produced by the youths in the conflict of territorial stigmatization and their feelings of belonging. The main result from the study is that the youths lived experiences of participation in Rågsved Community Center reflects a political need for something different. They discredit the way that Arbetsförmedlingen approach them as unemployed and lack confidence in their methods. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att belysa erfarenheter av stigmatisering i hälso- och sjukvården bland personer som drabbats av HIV. Metod: En litteraturstudie genomfördes med tio stycken kvalitativa artiklar från åtta olika länder. Artiklarna granskades, analyserades och sammanställdes. Resultat: I resultatet presenteras två kategorier och fem underkategorier. Kategorierna är: Att bli bemött med bristande vård handlingar och upplevelser av integritetskränkning. Underkategorierna är: Överdrivna säkerhetsåtgärder, ignorant bemötande, bristande sekretess, kränkande kroppsspråk och kränkande verbal kommunikation. Title: Experiences of stigma in health care among people affected by HIV- A literature review Background: HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) has been associated with stigmatization for a long time because of ignorance and uncertainty still exists regarding the transmission routes and infectivity. Aim: The aim for the study was to highlight experiences of stigma in health care among people affected by HIV.
