prosumer.

This research discusses communication postmodern, new habits of consumption and production of information and the emergence of the prosumer, the protagonist in this process. The term was coined by Alvin Toffler (1995) to describe the new profile producer-consumer. The prosumer can be compared to the producer of the era that predates capitalism, but now reappears as a producer of information media, strong and
influential, actively participating in the preparation of informative content on various new media: Internet and Digital TV - iDTV. Professional journalists are having to reinvent themselves. The audience is no longer passive. Marketers seek to understand the mechanisms and consumer trends in new media. The audiovisual industry has been adapting to the new era of the popularization of the Internet and the continued growth of social networking. As the production of the prosumer is being exploited on the Internet, on television and in iDTV? Which direction the phenomenon designed to communicate? What are the current trends? The overall goal of this research is to show the overlap of the prosumer with the audiovisual media industry and try to understand the role that public in everyday communication. As a result of this research, we can say that the performance of the prosumer, although it is something recent, already produces effects in the history of mankind. Understanding this issue
is to involve oneself in order cosnciente dynamic information society in which most cultures are embedded.

▼ The audiovisual entertainment industry has been one of the most affected by technological innovation, especially in activities as distribution of its products and provision of equipment for reproduction of music and movies. This study aims to understand the relationship among spectators and distribution channels of audiovisual products to domestic consumption. The main problem that oriented this research could be summarized as follows: What are the choices of domestic spectators to watch audiovisual products in the city of Sao Paulo? What are the common characteristics among different groups of spectators? Beyond the literature review, this research relies on two complementary phases. The first, using qualitative methods, generated variables that were applied at the second phase, based on quantitative methods. The final analysis was done on 483 respondents who said they had been used to watch movies, series or shows at home. Among the major results, it can be seen that younger consumers are more opened to using the Internet as a channel for media consumption, despite the high penetration of this tool in all age groups. It was also confirmed that the easiness of the use of new media, like memory sticks, Smartphones and Internet, together with a pro-active aptitude in consumption of this kind of products, points to emergence of a new type of viewer who has been called prosumer. This evolution of the behavior has occurred in the higher income ranges. Different medias were related to different income groups, reinforcing the impression that the price of the products has a strong impact on the selection of preferred distribution channel and, therefore, it must be well defined for the administration of the Marketing Mix. However, consumers also perceive a set of attributes uniquely for each channel, despite the fact that the audiovisual is the same for everyone. Once consumers have formed their perception about each channel, they elect their preferred one and get used to it. For industry, this choice is a fundamental factor in profitability.

▼ This research has built on the growing interest in the prosumer in the workplace – prosumers are those users with high technological skills who both produce and consume their own technology solutions. Prosumers are leaders in their industrial or professional fields and who expect to obtain significant benefit from innovating. The literature reveals that commercially attractive products tend to be developed by prosumers who are at the leading edge of important marketplace trends and therefore this group is increasingly important. This study surveyed prosumers across a variety of occupations and workplaces and explored the motivators and personality traits of the prosumer.

▼ The Web 2.0 environment has altered North American society immeasurably as producers and consumers have merged into one, the
prosumer. This new type of individual is visible in the blogosphere, in particular when examining travel blogs. The creators of travel blogs spend a considerable amount of their leisure and work creating and maintaining these travelogues, but little research has queried them about these efforts. The online contributions travel bloggers make potentially places their leisure choices within the Serious Leisure Perspective (SLP), more specifically within the sub-category of serious leisure. By engaging travel bloggers through a qualitative based questionnaire about their travel blogs, this research identified motivations and benefits of blogging. Recommendations for further research about online pursuits and serious leisure are suggested and the ways prosumers are linked to and have formed relationships with the mainstream travel industry are discussed. This research provides insight into travel bloggers’ perceptions of their contributions to the Web 2.0 environment, to the Serious Leisure Perspective, and to the travel industry.

▼ Two significant and closely related issues pertaining
to the grid-constrained transactive distribution system market are
investigated in this research. At first, the problem of spatial
fairness in the allocation of energy among energy consumers is
addressed, where consumer agents that are located at large
distances from the substation – in terms of grid layout, are
charged at higher rates than those close to it. This phenomenon,
arising from the grid’s voltage and flow limits is aggravated
during demand peaks. Using the Jain’s index to quantify fairness,
two auction mechanisms are proposed. Both approaches are bilevel,
with aggregators acting as interface agents between the consumers
and the upstream distribution system operator (DSO). Furthermore,
in spite of maximizing social welfare, neither mechanism makes use
of the agents’ utility functions. The first mechanism is
cost-setting, with the DSO determining unit costs. It implements
the Jain’s index as a second term to the social welfare. Next, a
power setting auction mechanism is put forth where the DSO’s role
is to allocate energy in response to market equilibrium unit costs
established at each aggregator from an iterative bidding process
among its consumers. The Augmented Lagrangian Multigradient
Approach (ALMA), which is based on vector gradient descent, is
proposed in this research for implementation at the upper level.
The mechanism’s lower level comprises of multiple auctions realized
by the aggregators. The quasi-concavity of the Jain’s index is
theoretically established, and it has been shown that ALMA
converges to the Pareto front representing tradeoffs between social
welfare and fairness. The effectiveness of both mechanisms is
established through simulations carried out using a modified IEEE
37-bus system platform.
The issue of extracting patterns of energy
usage from time series energy use profiles of individual consumers
is the focus of the second phase of this research. Two novel
approaches for non-intrusive load disaggregation based on
non-negative matrix factorization (NMF), are proposed. Both
algorithms distinguish between fixed and shiftable load classes,
with the latter being characterized by binary OFF and ON cycles.
Fixed loads are represented as linear combinations of a set of
basis vectors that are learned by NMF. One approach imposes L0
normed constraints on each shiftable load using a new method called
binary load decomposition. The other approach models shiftable
loads as Gaussian mixture models (GMM), therefore using
expectation-maximization for unsupervised learning. This hybrid
NMF-GMM algorithm enjoys the theoretical advantage of being
interpretable as a maximum-likelihood procedure within a
probabilistic framework. Numerical studies with real load profiles
demonstrate that both algorithms can effectively disaggregate total
loads into energy used by individual appliances. Using
disaggregated loads, a maximum-margin regression approach to derive
more elaborate, temperature-dependent utility functions of the
consumers, is proposed. The…

Over the years citizens have been growing an ecological awreness. For generations we have witnessed a constant evolution, in the industry and in the economy, which results in an accumulation of unimaginable amount of waste. Ecological awreness and sustainability have started to have an important role in the preservation of our future as humans.
On the other hand, we live in an era where digital communication is at its peak. There is a growing necessity for the creation of new interactive platforms that aid citizens and consumeres on their day to day activities. Mobile devices, interaction design are part of our essence, as is the need to belong in the new world, the Web. To stop being a mere spectator and to be a part of the main action is an innovative concept, but one that has a growing number of followers.
This paper aimed at presenting a project in the subject of Multimedia where, after a literature review and exploratory research, a mobile application with the purpose of aiding green citizens in their contribution towards a sustainable society was developed. Its objective was to create an interactive communication tool that gathered diverse information about recycling, namely recyclable materials, recovery points localizations and useful advices for a more ecological way of living.

▼ This research aims at exploring how smart grid opportunities can be leveraged to ameliorate demand response practices for residential
prosumer collectives, while meeting the needs of end-users and power grids.
Electricity has traditionally been generated in centralized plants then transmitted and distributed to end-users, but the increasing cost-effectiveness of micro-generation (e.g. solar photovoltaics) is resulting in the growth of more decentralized generation. The term "prosumers" is commonly used to refer to energy users (usually households) who engage in small-scale energy production. Of particular interest is the relatively new phenomenon of
prosumer collectives, which typically involve interactions between small-scale decentralized generators to optimize their collective energy production and use through sharing, storing and/or trading energy. Drivers of collective prosumerism include sustaining community identity, optimizing energy demand and supply across multiple households, and gaining market power from collective action.
Managing power flows in grids integrating intermittent micro-generation (e.g. from solar photovoltaics and micro-wind turbines) presents a challenge for
prosumer collectives as well as power grid operators. Smart grid technologies and capabilities provide opportunities for dynamic demand response, where flexible demand can be better matched with variable supply. Ideally, smart grid opportunities should incentivize prosumers to maximize their energy self-consumption from local supply while fairly sharing any income from trading surplus energy, or any loss of utility associated with altering energy demand patterns.
New businesses are emerging and developing various products and services around smart grid opportunities to cater for the socio-technical needs of residential
prosumer collectives, where technical energy systems overlap with social interactions. This research studies how emerging businesses are using smart grid capabilities to create dynamic demand response solutions for residential
prosumer collectives, and how fairness can be adopted in solutions targeting those collectives.
This research interweaves social and technical knowledge from literature to interpret the interactions and objectives of
prosumer collectives in new ways, and create new socio-technical knowledge around those interpretations.
Conducting this research involved using mixed research methods to draw on social science, computer science, and power systems. In the social stream of the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with executives in businesses providing current or potential smart grid solutions enabling dynamic demand response in residential
prosumer collectives. In the technical stream, optimization, computation and game theory concepts were used to develop software algorithms for integrating fairness in allocating shared benefits and loss of utility in collective settings.
Interview findings show that new business models and
prosumer-oriented solutions are being developed to…

This thesis is devoted to the study of agents called prosumers because they can, from renewable, both produce and consume electricity. If their production exceeds their own needs, they are looking to sell their surplus on electricity markets. We propose to model these prosumers from meteorological data, which has allowed us to highlight non trivial spatial and temporal correlations. This is of great importance for aggregators that form portfolios of equipments to sell services to the network operator. As an aggregator is bound by a contract with the operator, it can be subject to penalties if it does not fulfill its role. We show that these correlations impact the stability of aggregates, and therefore the risk taken by the aggregators. We propose an algorithm minimizing the risk of the aggregations, while maximizing the expected gain. The placement of storage devices in a network where generators and loads are stochastic and not fixed is complex. We propose to answer this question with control theory. We model the electrical system as a network of coupled oscillators, whose phase angles dynamics is an approximation of the actual dynamics of the system. The goal is to find the subset of nodes in the graph that, during a disturbance of the system, allows returning to equilibrium if the right signals are injected and this with a minimum energy. We propose an…

Lopuksi kaksi artikkelia käsittelevät makrotason politiikkatoimien vaikutusta prosumereihin.
Tutkimuksen pääkontribuutio on ymmärryksen lisääminen kuluttajan muuttuvasta roolista osana energiajärjestelmää.
Prosumer -tutkimuksessa on edelleen paljon tilaa uudelle tieteenharjoitukselle.

▼ The Republic of Kosovo, and its 1.8 million inhabitants, is heavily reliant on two highly pollutive lignite coal-fired power plants, Kosova A and Kosova B for energy generation. The coal-fired power plants, that cover 91% of the energy generation, are reaching the end of their operational life and are in need of either restoration or discontinuation. This implies that Kosovo is in need of energy alternatives for a more flexible energy system which could open opportunities for renewable energy. Solar power in Kosovo is still at a low percentage of less than 1%, and its future penetration is being held back by lack of investments and underdeveloped regulatory framework. Affordable and reliable energy, from solar power, could reduce poverty, lower unemployment, boost economic growth and improve people's health in Kosovo. This coincides with the sustainability goals set by the UN Agenda 2030 and specifically goal 7, ‘Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all’. The aim of the project was to design a techno-economically optimal PV-system at The University of Prishtina and to investigate the potential technical, social and economic impacts of implementing PV-systems in Kosovo to help achieve the UN 2030 Agenda, specifically SDG 7. The project consists of a quantitative part where simulations were done with the System Advisor Model (SAM) in order to calculate the energy generation and profitability of installing photovoltaic modules at The University of Prishtina with different policy-schemes. In addition, a qualitative study was done by compiling information on the policy structures in Kosovo and other european countries in order to identify obstacles and future trends in the development of renewables. The results showed that it is profitable for the University of Prishtina to install a PV-system in which the inspected financial indicators such as NPV, LCOE and payback time showed profitability for all policy-scenarios. In the base scenario with 200 kWp, which follows the current policy and capacity restrictions on the maximum allowed capacity of 100 kWp per metering point, 60% of the yearly electricity bills were covered. Two additional models were made with alternative policy-scenarios, one with a net-billing model in which sell-rates were altered and another with a higher capacity of 298.49 kWp utilizing the whole roof area. The system of 298.49 kWp gave the highest energy production and could cover 80% of the early electricity bills. The net-billing simulations indicated that profitability is also feasible for small-scale PV in a net-billing scheme with low sell-rates of electricity. LCOE ranged from $6.98 to 8.24 ¢/kWh, for all policy-scenarios, which was lower than the buy-rate of electricity for The University of Prishtina. The results from the simulations along with the qualitative study conclude that the cost- and technical potential for solar power is profitable and feasible. In addition to socio-economic factors such as job-opportunities and health…

▼ Microgrid has been shown to be profitable, reliable, and efficient for military, commercial, and university‐like installations. However, until now, there has been no study to show how and when a residential microgrid may be profitable. Therefore, in this thesis, we present a design space exploration methodology of the microgrid by modeling all the energy resources at the residential level and conducting numerous simulations with various parameters. Moreover, a set of rules are defined to make the stakeholders in the microgrid profitable. Also, by analyzing the number of houses in the microgrid, we observe that the number of years it takes to return the capital costs invested in the microgrid may become adequately short for a certain range of the number of houses. For instance, if the aggregator owns the renewable energy resources, e.g., solar panels, it may profit in less than five years when 500 houses participate in the microgrid where each house owns 500 sf solar panels. On the other hand, if the prosumers own the renewable energy resources, e.g., solar panels, the aggregator may profit in about a year. Typically, for an apartment‐block type housing area in U.S. there are more than 1000 houses, therefore the aggregator profitability may improve furthermore.

The purpose of this study was to study the effect of using participatory design and how the method affects the production process in the making of a webshop. The prototypes for the webshop was made through two workshops. One together with only the marketing team and one through participatory design were the marketing team worked together with two potential customers. During both of the workshops, the participants were given an hour to finish the task and material in form of paper, pens, cut-out elements from other webshops, glue and tape. By following these paper prototypes there were then made digital prototypes to make it easier to see the results of the two workshops. The result showed that participatory design is a preferable method to win the customer on the market. It is also more time-efficient to introduce the customer at the beginning of a design process and the content produced through participatory design has a different meaning and a higher level of detail. The customer, in this case, cares a lot about the legitimacy of the webshop and feels that customer reviews and information about the company environmental work helps with that. They do not want to work too hard to get the information they are looking for. They want to be inspired through simple solutions such as more pictures, offers, customer reviews, similar products, different categories and a good filtering tool. The customer put more trust in other customers than in the company itself when it comes to costumer’s reviews and the company’s…

▼ The Circular Economy is a sustainable system of production and consumption that aims to minimise waste, emissions and energy leakages through a closed system. Repair is one of the strategies to facilitate the transition towards the Circular Economy (CE). Repair is also a behaviour that the prosumer can adopt and enact in collaboration with other citizens in society. The inclination to repair, called explicitly in this thesis, 'the prosumer's propensity to repair' is influenced and affected by a myriad of complex and inter-related elements. Those elements need to be further investigated to support the actors involved in the transition towards the CE to develop interventions to support the prosumer to repair further. The investigation was set in an extreme case scenario by choosing to engage with individuals who, by their affiliation with pro-environmental organisations, appear to be more inclined to engage with pro-environmental behaviours. The investigation focuses on them trying to repair small electrical items because there have been conflicting results in previous research, on the extent to which environmental concerns influence Prosumer Repair Propensity. The literature explores Repair as an activitiy to be embraced by prosumers and strategy to facilitate the transition towards a CE. The review discusses the role, and capacity of the prosumers in to both produce and consume value to support the transition. The literature explores the role of Design in developing solutions to extend product lifespan and to influence prosumer behaviour. The literature in the field of Design for Sustainable Behaviour emphasises the significance of investigating prosumer behaviour before developing interventions. As a result, the literature reviews past research on the factors influencing Prosumer Repair Propensity and behavioural frameworks that could support the investigation. The Theory of Trying and the Transtheoretical model of Change are selected as tools for understanding prosumer repair behaviour as a multi-dimensional object. Two studies are undertaken to meet the research objectives set out for the investigation. Two hundred and eight respondents completed a survey for the Survey study. For the Prosumer study, 10 participants completed a survey, a semi-structured interview and two video-elicitation exercises. The analysis and integration of the findings from the Survey study and Prosumer study helped to consolidate five sets of findings. The first set of findings presents the range of factors influencing Prosumer Repair Propensity; it includes the most significant factors to support the engagement with repair practice and the most critical factors to successfully repair an item. The second set of findings examines the attitudes towards trying to repair. The third set of findings presents the processes of change affecting the prosumer to repair. The fourth and fifth set of findings presents the repair process and considers how the factors and attitudes influence the prosumer at different stages of the repair process. From…

▼ Nowadays, as the conventional grid cannot handle the technology, the smart grid is introduced to provide two-way communication between utility and customers to meet the energy requirements. In general, prosumers trade the locally produced energy using the NRG-X-Change mechanism and receive payment depending on their contribution individually. In this research, we study the different scenarios of trading energy in which all prosumers of the same grid are coalited. Firstly, we adopt one of the game-theoretic approaches called ‘Co-operative game theory’ to analyze all scenarios of prosumers’ coalition. Secondly, we consider three pricing functions such as concave, linear and convex, and analyze the behavior of each pricing function with hypothetical values on the prosumers’ coalition. Shapley value is calculated to show the benefits obtained by the prosumers’ coalition. In this research, we consider the average energy production and consumption data from Pecan Street Inc. for three seasons in a year such as Fall, Spring, and Winter. The results show that coalitions are profitable only when we consider the convex pricing function, whereas linear and concave are not profitable. By calculating the Shapley value, we conclude that price function ‘g’ is maximized only if production is twice greater than consumption.

▼ Production, warehousing and logistics activities consume one-third of global electricity. Generation and integration of cleaner energy is an effective way to achieve higher power efficiency and to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. This research focuses on siting and sizing wind- and solar-based microgrid system in manufacturing supply chain under demand and supply uncertainty. The study treats two-way energy flow as a new feature along with material, information and cash flows in supply chain operations. First, we design a three-tier manufacturing infrastructure for net zero energy performance by integrating wind turbine, photovoltaics, and energy storage under cost minimization. Second, we combined
prosumer microgrid and combined heat and power to form virtual power plants (VPP) in pursuit of profit maximization. The proposed method can guide the manufacturing industry in harnessing onsite renewable sources to attain environmental sustainability. The mixed integer linear programming models are solved with A Mathematical Programming Language using CPLEX solver. The feasibility of the energy solution is further examined through numerical experiments in ten US cities based on 11-year hourly meteorological data. The study shows that integrating onsite renewable energy is a key to mitigating environmental impacts, improving energy reliability and manufacturing sustainability. The research also indicates that the adoption of a feed-in tariff, time-of-use rate,
prosumer energy trading, and VPP scheme can reduce the utility bills and accelerate the achievement of 100% renewables integration.

This study threats about the understandment of a new character that has been changing consumption
practices in this information age: the prosumer. The Prosumer theorizing and adaptation was built throughout this dissertation to achieve a clear understanding of relationships between consumers, their habits, motivation and characteristics, in order to comprehend how this personage changes the consumer habits and how such a practice is rooted in \"pre-ritual purchase\", proposed in this work. In this regard, were used the tools such as ConsumerBarometer, analysis of comments on prosumption, questionnaire and in-depth interview. Besides, we oppose the range of traditional advertising to realize how their influence can be compared to online or offline word of mouth, and the achieved results of those contraposition proves that this practice is gaining notoriety.

Tutkielmani on kuvaileva tapaustutkimus, jossa pyritään ymmärtämään tutkittavaa ilmiötä analyysin avulla.
Karnevalistisen kaupunkitapahtuman perusideaan kuluu olennaisella tavalla virallisuuden kritisoiminen hauskanpidon keinoin.
Tutkimusaineistossa usein esiintyvät sanat kuten karnevaalimaisuus, nauttiminen, hauskanpito, omaehtoinen toiminta, elävöittäminen, iloisuus, luovuus, mielikuvitus, into ja riemu ilmentävät Ravintolapäivän monitahoista luonnetta, jossa keskeistä on toiminnan myönteishenkinen ydin.

▼ Phenomena such as Wikipedia and open source software are great examples of cultural activity that, on the surface, attempt to be more based on pleasures and rewards of co-operation rather than competition. It is most certain the case that firms in the digital era, increasingly seek to draw upon the participation of their users and consumers in the production process. In his book Crowdsourcing: Why the Power of the Crowd Is Driving the Future of Business, Jeff Howe argues how crowdsourcing1, which activates the transformative power of contemporary technology to liberate the creative potentials within us all, is increasingly being applied by businesses to harness these creative potentials for profits (2008).
However, such celebratory accounts have not been without their critics. According to Hesmondhalgh, “too many of these discussions of transformations associated with new digital media rely on caricatured portrayals of supposedly bypassed eras” (2010, pp.268). A dominant theme within critical analyses of digital media is that they involve unpaid work on the part of participants. For instance, Tiziana Terranova wrote about the phenomena of 'free labour' (2000). Various recent critical accounts have suggested that work in the cultural industries involves labour that is characterised by high degrees of autonomy and creativity, but also by overwork, casualisation and precariousness (Ross, 2003). This suggests that work in the cultural industries is also characterised by exploitation of the workers. However, there are also critics such as Cova et al. (2011), who question whether the term 'labor' or 'labour' is descriptive of the kinds of activities and contributions that take place on UGC sites.
Moreover, most of the crowdsourcing literature uses the term amateurs or amateurism to refer to the crowd. However, labelling the crowd as mere amateurs or hobbyists undermines the fact that large amounts of work and expert knowledge are exerted by crowds for relatively little reward (Brabham, 2012). This then has critical implications for labour rights in the digital age and possibly presents us with labour struggles distinctive to the digital age. So what does crowdsourcing represent us with? Is it a phenomena characterized by terms such as collectivism, collaboration, and participation, or does it represent us with new labour struggles? Or is it a phenomena characterized by all the above?

▼ With digital fabrication tools and networking technology becoming increasingly attainable and versatile, there is an opportunity for more people to become makers instead of just being passive consumers. How can we take advantage of this to foster larger local and global communities of makers? Most digital fabrication research focuses on a singular novel process or application of a tool, and not the actual relationship between the users and the entire fabrication process. To engage a broader audience with digital fabrication, I propose a user-centric ecosystem that attempts to seamlessly link all of the individual elements of the workflow. My research involves designing a series of prototypes for inexperienced makers that lower the barriers of complex workflows. By doing this, anyone can be empowered to shape their environment and cater to their needs and desires without relying on mass-produced goods. With more engaging, accessible methods of fabrication, people can benefit from the advantages of creating something themselves, and form communities that are more empowered and meaningfully connected.

The performances of electric grid stakeholders are analyzed, including consumers, producers, prosumers, grid operators and regulatory systems. Prosumer is any user who is both a producer and consumer of electricity. It is also studied the behavior of prosumers based on real scenarios.
The consumption of a residential consumer and the electric power generated from photovoltaic solar energy are forecasted using artificial neural networks.
The results obtained from artificial neural networks enable the study of economic dispatch solution yield by a given prosumer at a daily and monthly level. For this purpose, numerous scenarios are presented wherein the prosumer acquires power from the daily market or from a producing company.

Deste modo, o foco do presente estudo
In a global sense, the current techniques applied in marketing and advertising campaigns,
that have undergone several modifications over the past years, arose with the following
purpose: to reach consumers that have become tired of the traditional campaigns. This
has enabled brands to understand that the capturing of clients is now a more arduous task
and, for this reason, it is fundamental for them to engage in more strait, innovative,
creative and bidirectional relationship with our currents or prospects customers. The
digital world allows for brands to get closer to their public, supporting reduced costs, with
the use of diversified techniques. The focus of this investigation is on a recent technique:
the link that brands look to establish with consumers in Social Media. This investigation
purpose is to understand if Social Media (Facebook in particular) are an effective
advertising vehicle and, they end up influencing, in a positive way, on brand image and
brand equity. Accurately, about brand Schweppes Portugal.

▼ The use of micro controllers in automotive application have exploded during the last half century. What was initially a set of mechanical systems that formed a vehicle have now become a collection of computers on wheels. The reason is quite obvious: micro controllers use several inputs to optimize the performance of systems; for example an engine control or an active safety system. The different inputs and outputs to these electronic units (electronic control unit, ECU) are of interest to other such units thereby justifying the need of inter-ECU communications. The Controller Area Network (CAN) bus has been developed to facilitate this communication. It is a message based protocol and is very resilient. It is however relatively slow and limited in terms of security. Security is assured only by trying to keep the message identification tags confidential and the bus physically separated to other network. A couple of decades ago our society embraced the Information Technology (IT) revolution. It allowed people to have extensive access to information. From a technology point of view, IT is based on the use of the Internet, which has been initially designed by the US military for robust applications. It is fast and its security is sufficiently high that we use it to communicate with our banks where we keep all our life savings. The aim of this thesis has been to combine these technologies such that a vehicle with a CAN bus could offer services (just like a bank does) over the Internet. The goal then is to transform a CAN bus to become a service provider over the Internet. The services are the broadcasted CAN messages made available to authorized interested parties and can post information and actuations to the ECUs connected to the CAN bus. A vehicle in that case becomes a cyber physical system. To make this transformation possible, we use the open source Arrowhead Framework, which is based on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). The available services are made known via a Service Registry and Orchestration service prosumers. Concretely, the work in this thesis project has been to develop (i.e., to design and implement) a CAN service prosumer that is Arrowhead Framework compliant. It has been successfully tested with another service prosumer, which is an Arrowhead Framework compliant data logger. The driving motivation for the thesis project are construction equipment machines, such as wheel loaders and excavators, which are vehicles with booms or arms. The aspiration is that they not only drive autonomously but also dig autonomously. This ambition shall require large amount of data to be exchanged, something that a CAN bus cannot handle.

Product placement and sponsored content through social media is increasing significantly as a result of the digital landscape evolving. It is becoming more common to mix commercial content in non-commercial contexts which leads to confusion and concern amongst consumers. An example of this is the video platform service YouTube. Influencer marketing on YouTube is growing by the day because of the wide audience that companies can can reach out to – thanks to the service. This essay aims to contribute to a better understanding of the possible reactions that product placement in videos provokes or does not provoke. The study examines the viewer’s attitude to sponsored material and product placement and what similarities and differences there is between producers and consumers. It also investigates whether consumer’s responses differ depending on how videos relate to recommendations and guidelines. The survey has been conducted through a qualitative method with interviews in focus along with both a consumer- and a producer target group.
The result show that the reactions are numerous and various, but the negative reactions are the dominant. The opinions of producers and consumers differ greatly, as producers are more positive towards product placements. Factors such as brand awareness, trust and dedication are often of great importance for…

▼ The original mediums were not texts or technologies;
they were ritual actors performing acts of mediumship. Mediating
between determined norms (the status quo) and emergent trends
(change), they invoked divine authority to conjure meanings that
proved adaptive, nonadaptive and/or maladaptive. With the advent of
the written word, ritual became formalized and codified. The medium
became a communication device, something abstract and external to
the human condition. It then became possible to speak of "media
effects" imposing influence in a logical deterministic manner. Yet
with the advent of new media, we are witnessing a return to modes
of cultural discourse that are spontaneous, interactive, communal
and unscripted, all hallmarks of ritual action. This "ritual
return" centers on the emergence of the "prosumer"
(producer/consumer), a figure actively engaged in mediating
practices. While resembling the original archaic "medium" in some
respects, the prosumer is a "literate ritualist" allied with a
multiplicity of cultural tribes. Thus the "new media" has given
rise to "the new medium." The pages that follow focus on acts of
contemporary mediumship, examining related concepts such as
"ecology," "niche," "role," "affordance," and "trope." Each section
considers how specific mediating practices afford and constrain
modes of ritualized behavior. I call this practice-oriented
approach to media studies "praxism."

The consumption process is complex and undergoes constant transformations. Due to the new demands and offers of the market, the consumer behavior reorganizes and transformes habits into new rituals and restate old rituals. This thesis aims to broaden the paradigms about the connections - specifically of the digital world - between consumers and their reference groups, understanding the importance of such groups, how the network works, which factors oin connection points are most importante to consumer decision-making and, especially, how trust assignment occurs. Based on the existing bibliography -
with englobes communication, social psychology and some areas of the exact sciences - the theoretical scope of this thesis was builded, which also demanded the linkage of exploratory and field research by the constant need to observe the phenomena, this fast and constant changes and, of course, the subsequent collection of data that qualified and gave scope to the analyzes of the observations, corroborating or dissuading the hypotheses raised. The results showed us the differences between consumer profiles and the different forms of interaction with online comments and the particular ways in which each type of consumer attributes trust to other consumers
