▼ Após a Constituinte de 1988, e a Reforma Psiquiátrica a Psicologia vem apresentando dificuldades de inserção no novo modelo sanitário orientado pelo valor da integralidade. Essa inserção poderá ocorrer pela modalidade de equipe matricial e o seu correspondente Núcleo de Apoio a Saúde da Família (NASF). O psicólogo tem o seu espaço oficial estabelecido por estas modalidades. Equipe matricial é um arranjo organizacional para o trabalho em saúde, onde uma equipe de especialistas presta apoio transversal às unidades de referência e seus usuários em sua área de competência, visando potencializar novas subjetividades e co-responsabilidade entre os atores da área atendida. É uma rede de conceitos entre três vertentes teóricas: a produção social dos fatos históricos; a complexidade; e a subjetividade. Esta pesquisa, baseada neste referencial teórico e prático, teve por objetivo estudar a atuação do psicólogo nos Distritos Sanitários do Bairro Novo, Cajuru e Pinheirinho da Prefeitura Municipal de Curitiba sob a perspectiva da equipe matricial. Especificamente, identificou as percepções e concepções dos psicólogos sobre o conhecimento das equipes matriciais; descreveu sobre a atuação dos psicólogos; descreveu as dificuldades de atuação dos psicólogos na perspectiva das equipes matriciais. Para a execução desta pesquisa exploratória utilizou como caminho metodológico a análise descritiva. A população constou de nove psicólogos dos distritos acima referidos. A amostra foi definida pela repetição dos dados. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas, individuais e em grupo, e com registro dos depoimentos em gravação e posterior transcrição para análise dos conteúdos. Os resultados apontam para práticas psicológicas sem o conhecimento teórico que dê sustentação; atuações multifacetadas coerentes com postulados do SUS, mas, sem protocolo norteador; formação a partir do modelo biomédico; dificuldades como: a existência de obstáculos, o processo de trabalho, ausência de treinamento, contradições e infra-estrutura que dificultam a atuação a partir da ótica das equipes matriciais; solicitações de conhecimentos objetivos de matérias do curso de graduação em Psicologia e de pósgraduação; solicitações de conhecimentos subjetivos que desprezam a variável fundamental de autonomia do mentor das equipes matriciais. Espera-se que a partir dos conhecimentos adquiridos nesta pesquisa, esta se torne um documento de referência para que as universidades e os centros formadores reencaminhem seus cursos de graduação e/ou pós-graduação em Psicologia, em consonância com os princípios do SUS, no geral, e da reforma psiquiátrica, em particular. ▼ Since the 1970s there has been a rising trend in
South Africa for legal professionals to use the services of
psychologists in legal proceedings. Psychologists have therefore
increasingly started to appear as expert witnesses in court cases.
Despite this, the field of forensic psychology in South Africa has
yet to be defined and delineated. Currently there are no set
guidelines or regulations regarding who is qualified to do forensic
work, and no standards against which this work can be measured.
Psychology in the courtroom has begun to receive a notorious
reputation as a result of this. The Professional Board for
Psychology (PBP) of the Health Professions Council of South Africa
(HPCSA) is investigating the creation of a new category of
registration, that of Forensic
Psychologist, partly in an effort to
manage and address this problem. However, to date little, if any,
research has been conducted on the scope of the work presented to
the courts by psychologists appearing as expert witnesses. This
research aimed to address this gap by analysing a sample of
forensic psychological reports. The following aspects were
investigated: Who (category or registration,
length of registration, etc.) is doing sentencing
reports; How (interviews, collateral
information, psychometric tests, etc.) these reports are compiled;
and Whether these reports measure up to
professional expectations as well as adhere to the guidelines of
the HPCSA. It is clear from the results of
this research that some of the psychologists doing forensic
assessments and writing reports do so in an idiosyncratic way.
Besides the fact that no uniformity exists, forensic work is
sometimes done by psychologists who are not qualified to do so in
terms of their registration category and thus their scope of
practice. The reports analysed did not always measure up to
guidelines or professional standards from abroad (in lieu of local
standards or guidelines for reports) and/or transgressions were
made in terms of HPCSA policies and guidelines. This situation is
understandable in the light of two shortfalls in this field, namely
training and regulation. The following recommendations can be made
on the basis of this study: That psychologists
who are adequately trained and have the proven experience in
forensic work, be accredited by the PBP; That
guidelines and standards for forensic work be drawn up by the PBP;
in addition, that more complete ethical guidelines than those
contained in chapter 7 of the PBP’s Rules of Conduct Pertaining
Specifically to Psychology also be drawn up;
That adequate training at MA level in basic forensic
issues be made compulsory, with the option of advanced training for
those wishing to specialise in the field; and
That lawyers be trained in basic concepts of psychology
so as to allow for better selection of an appropriate
psychologist
to assist them and also to assure effective cross-examination
regarding psychological issues in court. If

▼ The objective of this research was to investigate
psychologist‟s practices at the Reference Specialized Center of Social Assistance (CREAS), special social care unit of medium complexity of the Unique System of Social Assistance (SUAS). With the creation of CREAS occurred the reorganization of specialized services and programs which were scattered within the socialassitantial network and began to be part of this
center, creating a mosaic of actions directed to people with their rights violated. At the same time, there was a significant arrival of psychologists to the field of Social Assistance and their questioning facing specialized social demands and the
(un)definitions of SUAS‟ policy concerning to special social protection. Was aimed in this research to investigate how
psychologist‟s practices are developed at CREAS using semi-structured interviews and following the practices developed by three psychologists at a CREAS in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), indicated by the Ministry of
Social Development and Fight against Hunger (MDS) as one of the national references in 2008. It was highlighted a complex work field, which is delineated between the user´s rights perspective and the maintenance of historical difficulties concerning to the Social Assistance. In which the professional is requested to act toward the fight against rights violation, but does not find a field where is possible inter-sector and articulated work, in addition of being exposed to the precariousness of work and the weakness of employment ties, associated to the lack of formation to work in the area. Accordingly, there is still a range of challenges to psychologists in the building of a profession which confront risk situations and break off rights violation.

▼ O objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar a atuação do psicólogo no Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS), unidade da proteção social especial de média complexidade do Sistema Único de Assistência Social (SUAS). Com a criação do CREAS ocorre o reordenamento de serviços e programas especializados que estavam dispersos na rede socioassistencial que passam a compor esse centro, formando um mosaico de ações voltadas para as pessoas com os direitos violados. Concomitantemente, há a entrada significativa de psicólogos no campo da Assistência Social e os questionamentos desses profissionais frente às demandas sociais especializadas e às (in)definições da política do SUAS quanto à proteção social especial. Buscou-se nesta pesquisa investigar como a atuação do psicólogo ocorre no CREAS por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada e de acompanhamento das práticas desenvolvidas por três psicólogas em um CREAS no Rio Grande do Norte (RN), apontado como uma das referências nacionais pelo Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social e Combate à Fome (MDS) em 2008. Evidenciou-se um campo complexo de atuação, que se delineia entre a perspectiva do direito do usuário e a manutenção de dificuldades históricas pertinentes a Assistência Social. Em que o profissional é solicitado a agir para enfrentamento da violação do direito, mas não encontra um campo que possibilite o trabalho intersetorial e articulado, além de estar exposto a precarização do trabalho e a fragilidade dos vínculos empregatícios, associado à falta de formação para atuar na área. Portanto, ainda há muitos desafios para os psicólogos na construção de um trabalho que enfrente as situações de risco e rompa com a violação de direitos.

▼ Industrial-organisational (I-O) Psychology is known for specialising in the study of human behaviour in the workplace (Van Vuuren, 2010). It is clear that the problems associated with individuals in the workplace form the basis for the existence of I-O psychology. Veldsman (2001) stated that it is imperative to reflect upon the future of I-O psychology and that I-O psychology must be repositioned in future. Therefore, it is emphasised that additional roles should be elicited for I-O psychologists in South Africa (Barnard & Fourie, 2007). Moalusi (2001) has recognised the need for I-O psychologists to reposition themselves in future by focusing on significant workplace issues. Upon further investigation it should be noted that many factors that exert an influence upon workplace behaviour do not necessarily derive from the workplace. These factors, such as family responsibilities, cultural influences and traumatic events, suggest that the sphere of influence of the I-O psychologists stretches far beyond the physical borders of the workplace (Landy & Conte, 2004; Van Vuuren, 2010). According to Strümpfer (2007), it is the I-O psychologist who is concerned with the deep-rooted problems of individuals.
The objective of the study was therefore to critically review the role I-O psychologists play as counsellors, and to determine whether counselling should form part of the I-O psychologist’ scope of practice. A qualitative research design was utilised in the study following a phenomenology strategy. Convenience and snowball sampling were used to identify (n=22) I-O psychologists across the Gauteng and North West provinces. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, where the participants were asked to reflect upon seven interview questions which were later transcribed verbatim and analysed using content analysis. Nine themes were extracted from the data, namely, the meaning of counselling, counselling situations that I-O psychologists face, counselling skills required by I-O psychologists, characteristics displayed by I-O psychologist during counselling, counsellor competencies required of I-O psychologists, post graduate counselling training received by I-O psychologists, additional counselling training received by I-O psychologists, recommendations made for future training of I-O psychology students and lastly the inclusion of counselling in the scope of practice
From the results it was clear the I-O psychologists are familiar with the meaning of counselling and that they are faced with a diverse range of counselling situations requiring a unique set of skills and competencies. Participants had divergent experience and opinions with regard to the training received in preparation of their role as counsellor. In relation to their training participants made recommendations for the future training of I-O psychologists. Finally, participants mentioned that it would be in their best interest if counselling is formally included in the scope of practice of the I-O psychologists.

Esta dissertaÃÃo procura investigar como se dà o fazer de psicÃlogos(as) inseridos(as) no Centro de ReferÃncia Especializado de AssistÃncia Social (CREAS) de um municÃpio da RegiÃo Metropolitana de Fortaleza (RMF) â CearÃ, a partir da percepÃÃo dos mesmos sobre seu trabalho. Para tanto, considera-se como referencial teÃrico, alÃm dos diversos documentos oficiais que versam sobre as polÃticas pÃblicas de AssistÃncia Social e outros que ofereÃam parÃmetros para o trabalho do(a) psicÃlogo(a) no CREAS, os estudos sobre a ClÃnica da Atividade, sem ser excluÃda a colaboraÃÃo de outras clÃnicas do trabalho como a PsicodinÃmica do Trabalho, e tambÃm do conhecimento da Ergonomia. As investigaÃÃes realizadas objetivaram analisar os documentos oficiais e/ou nÃo oficiais atà entÃo existentes e que orientam a atuaÃÃo do(a) psicÃlogo(a) no campo das polÃticas de AssistÃncia Social, mais especificamente no CREAS, e conhecer as aÃÃes desenvolvidas
pelos(as) psicÃlogos(as) no exercÃcio de suas atividades de trabalho, mediante o favorecimento de um processo de interpretaÃÃo dos(as) mesmos(as) sobre seu fazer e a repercussÃo de seu trabalho no contexto do CREAS onde exercem suas atividades. Ã adotado, para a pesquisa, dispositivo metodolÃgico de investigaÃÃo das situaÃÃes de trabalho baseado na anÃlise do contexto de trabalho a partir de uma aproximaÃÃo dos recursos da autoconfrontaÃÃo simples e do mÃtodo de instruÃÃes ao sÃsia. A utilizaÃÃo desses recursos, que teve como base o levantamento de observaÃÃes e de entrevistas realizadas com os(as) psicÃlogos(as) envolvidos no Ãcrea do municÃpio analisado, foi a forma vislumbrada para dar conta da realidade do local de trabalho escolhido e de seus(suas) profissionais. Ã possÃvel perceber as diversas dimensÃes que envolvem a atividade desses(as) profissionais, e constata-se que o coletivo de psicÃlogos(as) inseridos no especÃfico CREAS encontra-se fragmentado em funÃÃo da dificuldade
do compartilhamento de experiÃncias e de instrumentos. No entanto, estes sujeitos ainda encontram, nas atividades que realizam, espaÃos de criaÃÃo, de construÃÃo de sentido e de alcance de prazer. Este estudo tem como mÃrito iniciar um processo de reflexÃo teÃrica e produÃÃo de informaÃÃo empÃrica que busca contribuir para uma melhor compreensÃo do papel do(a) psicÃlogo(a) no CREAS, gerando consideraÃÃes que norteiam o amadurecimento das discussÃes sobre a atuaÃÃo desse profissional num espaÃo relativamente novo para as aÃÃes da Psicologia. Espera-se que, a partir daqui, diretrizes mais firmes para o fazer do(a) psicÃlogo(a) nesta instituiÃÃo possam surgir, de modo a direcionar as atividades dos profissionais, sua seleÃÃo, a avaliaÃÃo de suas aÃÃes e a elaboraÃÃo de capacitaÃÃes mais condizentes com a realidade de trabalho. ▼ In this thesis I discuss the role of the
psychologist as a university professor and as intellectual from a specific context and also from a specific query. The context is the city of Teresina, capital city of Piauí state, which is peripheral in Brazil s northeast region. The defiance here is to build a critical psychological tradition that will deal with the challenges imposed by the reality of poverty and socio-economic backwardness of the region. The greatest difficulty is the lack of a public institution of learning that carries out instruction, research and extension with commitment to social transformation, and with the production of a psychological knowledge that is able to understand local reality. I take it that the undergraduate course in Psychology at UESPI [State University of Piauí] is the only one in Teresina that can take over such mission. The query is confronting violence against children and adolescents that defies us to ethically and politically commit to solidarity toward fragile human beings in need of adult involvement in order to survive this daily inhumanity. The involvement of psychologists from Teresina in this must result from a social commitment and a technical competence to deal with prevention and therapeutic consideration toward the victims. This dissertation is divided into three parts: the first is a study on the curriculum and the performance of psychologists, which revises the academic output in Brazil and envisages new queries to the theme, such as the role of teaching inside the curriculum, and presents social security (including Medicare) as the privileged field in which Brazilian psychologists perform. The second part contains a study on the concepts of childhood, adolescence and violence, which presents a consideration on the strategies to confront violence against children and adolescents. In the last part I discuss the role of the
psychologist as teacher and intellectual in the context undergraduate course in Psychology at UESPI [State University of Piauí] from the commitment to the protection of children and adolescents

▼ Nesta tese, discuto o papel do psicÃlogo como professor universitÃrio e como intelectual a partir de um contexto especÃfico e de uma questÃo especÃfica. O contexto à a cidade de Teresina, capital do Piauà â Estado perifÃrico da regiÃo Nordeste brasileira. O desafio aqui à construir uma tradiÃÃo psicolÃgica crÃtica que possa ser capaz de lidar com os desafios impostos pela realidade de pobreza e atraso sÃcio-econÃmico da regiÃo. A maior dificuldade à a falta de uma instituiÃÃo de ensino que seja pÃblica e que realize ensino, pesquisa e extensÃo com o compromisso da transformaÃÃo social e com a produÃÃo de um conhecimento psicolÃgico capaz de entender a realidade local. Defendo que o curso de Psicologia da Universidade Estadual do Piauà à o Ãnico de Teresina que pode assumir tal missÃo. A questÃo à o enfrentamento da violÃncia contra crianÃas e adolescentes, que nos desafia a um comprometimento Ãtico-polÃtico de solidariedade com seres frÃgeis que precisam do envolvimento de adultos para sobreviverem a essa barbÃrie cotidiana. O envolvimento da Psicologia teresinense nesse enfrentamento deve resultar de um compromisso social e de uma competÃncia tÃcnica para lidar com a prevenÃÃo e o acolhimento terapÃutico das vÃtimas. A tese està dividida em trÃs partes: a primeira à um estudo sobre a formaÃÃo e a atuaÃÃo do psicÃlogo, que revisa a literatura produzida no Brasil e propÃe novas questÃes para o tema, como o papel do professor na formaÃÃo e apresenta a Seguridade Social (SaÃde e AssistÃncia Social) como o campo privilegiado de atuaÃÃo para a Psicologia Brasileira. ▼ Nesta tese, discuto o papel do psicólogo como professor universitário e como intelectual a partir de um contexto específico e de uma questão específica. O contexto é a cidade de Teresina, capital do Piauí Estado periférico da região Nordeste brasileira. O desafio aqui é construir uma tradição psicológica crítica que possa ser capaz de lidar com os desafios impostos pela realidade de pobreza e atraso sócio-econômico da região. A maior dificuldade é a falta de uma instituição de ensino que seja pública e que realize ensino, pesquisa e extensão com o compromisso da transformação social e com a produção de um conhecimento psicológico capaz de entender a realidade local. Defendo que o curso de Psicologia da Universidade Estadual do Piauí é o único de Teresina que pode assumir tal missão. A questão é o enfrentamento da violência contra crianças e adolescentes, que nos desafia a um comprometimento ético-político de solidariedade com seres frágeis que precisam do envolvimento de adultos para sobreviverem a essa barbárie cotidiana. O envolvimento da Psicologia teresinense nesse enfrentamento deve resultar de um compromisso social e de uma competência técnica para lidar com a prevenção e o acolhimento terapêutico das vítimas. A tese está dividida em três partes: a primeira é um estudo sobre a formação e a atuação do psicólogo, que revisa a literatura produzida no Brasil e propõe novas questões para o tema, como o papel do professor na formação e apresenta a Seguridade Social (Saúde e Assistência Social) como o campo privilegiado de atuação para a Psicologia Brasileira. A segunda parte contém um estudo sobre os conceitos de infância, adolescência e violência, apresentando uma reflexão sobre as estratégias de enfrentamento da violência contra crianças e adolescentes. Na última parte, é discutido o papel do psicólogo como professor e intelectual em Teresina no contexto do curso de Psicologia da UESPI a partir do compromisso com a proteção da criança e do adolescente
In this thesis I discuss the role of the psychologist as a university professor and as intellectual from a specific context and also from a specific query. The context is the city of Teresina, capital city of Piauí state, which is peripheral in Brazils northeast region. The defiance here is to build a critical psychological tradition that will deal with the challenges imposed by the reality of poverty and socio-economic backwardness of the region. The greatest difficulty is the lack of a public institution of learning that carries out instruction, research and extension with commitment to social transformation, and with the production of a psychological knowledge that is able to understand local reality. I take it that the undergraduate course in Psychology at UESPI [State University of Piauí] is the only one in Teresina that can take over such mission. This paper aims to examine how is the doing of psychologists at the Center of
Specialized Reference for Social Assistance (CREAS) in a municipality of the metropolitan region of Fortaleza – CE, Brazil, from the perception of them about their work. So it is considered as a theoretical reference, various official documents about the public policies for social assistance and others that provide parameters for the work of psychologists in the CREAS, as well as studies on the Clinic of the Activity without being excluded from the collaboration of other clinics such as the Psychodynamic of the Work, and also the knowledge of the Ergonomics. The investigations aims to analyze the official and/or not official documents, until then existing, that guide the actions of the psychologists in the field of welfare policies, specifically in the CREAS, and to know the actions taken by the psychologists in carrying out their work activities, by favoring the psychologists a process of interpretation of their activities and the impact of their work within the centers where they
carry out their activities. For this research, methodological investigating arrangements of work situations are adopted based on the analysis of the work context of an approach of the resources of the simple autoconfrontation method and the method of the instructions for the double. The use of these resources, which is based on a study of observations and interviews with the psychologists involved in the municipality examined, was the way envisioned to account for the reality of the workplace and their professionals chosen. It is possible to understand the various dimensions that involve the activity of these professionals, and it is found that the collective of psychologists inserted in the specific CREAS is fragmented due to the difficulty of sharing experiences and implements. However, these psychologists still find, in the activities they perform, creating spaces, construction of meaning and pleasure achievements. ▼ Aim: According to the existing evidence-base, the experience of the death of a therapy client (from a cause other than suicide) for Clinical Psychologists is substantially under researched. Moreover, previous studies into the experience of patient or client death for healthcare professionals indicate this may be an important focus for research. The present study aimed to explore the often unheard, lived experiences of client death for Clinical Psychologists at the beginning of their career. It was hoped that these research findings may assist training courses, clinical supervisors and other Psychologists of all grades to make sense of this experience in greater depth. Method: A qualitative approach was adopted for this study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine female junior Clinical Psychologists (Trainee, Newly Qualified) who had experienced the death of a client. The accounts were analysed using IPA, which attempts to illuminate the lived experience of a phenomenon for small samples of individuals. Results: The analytic procedure highlighted three main themes as emerging from participants’ accounts in the context of their client’s death: Connected and affected: Being unprepared for initial reactions to the client's death; "we do it so why can't you?" facing institutional denial and avoidance; "It's not something I've forgotten about", The lasting impact of client death: Learning reluctant lessons and experiencing continuing bonds. Implications: This study highlights the importance of recognising the impact of client death on Clinical Psychologists in particular, and healthcare professionals in general. Client death, by all causes, appears much overlooked within the current research base, which may have led to a self-perpetuating cycle of hidden and unspoken stories. The findings indicate death needs to be on the research and teaching agenda within the institution of Clinical Psychology. As a result we may be able to begin to break the current cycle of silence which has served to potentially disservice us as professionals, our teams and most importantly our clients.

The objective of this research was to investigate psychologist‟s practices at the Reference Specialized Center of Social Assistance (CREAS), special social care unit of medium complexity of the Unique System of Social Assistance (SUAS). With the creation of CREAS occurred the reorganization of specialized services and programs which were scattered within the socialassitantial network and began to be part of this center, creating a mosaic of actions directed to people with their rights violated. At the same time, there was a significant arrival of psychologists to the field of Social Assistance and their questioning facing specialized social demands and the (un)definitions of SUAS‟ policy concerning to special social protection. Was aimed in this research to investigate how psychologist‟s practices are developed at CREAS using semi-structured interviews and
following the practices developed by three psychologists at a CREAS in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), indicated by the Ministry of Social Development and Fight against Hunger (MDS) as one of the national references in 2008. It was highlighted a complex work field, which is delineated between the user´s rights perspective and the maintenance of historical difficulties concerning to the Social Assistance. In which the professional is requested to act toward the fight against rights violation, but does not find a field where is possible inter-sector and articulated work, in addition of being exposed to the precariousness of work and the weakness of employment ties, associated to the lack of formation to work in the area. Accordingly, there is still a range of challenges to psychologists in the building of a profession which confront risk situations and break off rights violation.
O objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar a atuação do psicólogo no Centro de Referência
Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS), unidade da proteção social especial de média complexidade do Sistema Único de Assistência Social (SUAS). Com a criação do CREAS ocorre o reordenamento de serviços e programas especializados que estavam dispersos na rede socioassistencial que passam a compor esse centro, formando um mosaico de ações voltadas para as pessoas com os direitos violados. Concomitantemente, há a entrada significativa de psicólogos no campo da Assistência Social e os questionamentos desses profissionais frente às demandas sociais especializadas e às (in)definições da política do SUAS quanto à proteção social especial. Buscou-se nesta pesquisa investigar como a atuação do psicólogo ocorre no CREAS por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada e de acompanhamento das práticas desenvolvidas por três psicólogas em um CREAS no Rio Grande do Norte (RN), apontado como uma das referências nacionais pelo Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social e Combate à Fome (MDS) em 2008.

[en] The object of this study is to critically think
about how the Psychologist is responding to the recent
institutional demand for psychological care at Rio de Janeiros
Children and Juvenile Court. Following an initial effort to
cartograph this new space for psychological practice, interviews
were conducted with individuals from newly- created positions. Our
findings suggest that psychological care is being conceived mainly
as mere psychological expertise and legal sanction.

▼ Studien syftade till att undersöka hur psykologer upplever skapandet av sin profession under den praktiska tjänstgöringsperioden. Vi använde oss av grundad teori som kvalitativ metod för datainsamling och databearbetning. Vi intervjuade 14 psykologer och fann ett antal centrala teman som var återkommande i intervjuberättelserna. Dessa handlade om hur sociala interaktioner med omgivningen påverkade den egna processen i att bli psykolog. Datamaterialet genererade en teori som visar hur psykologen under PTP-året är en del i ett möte och interaktion med organisation, erfarenheter, utveckling och den egna individen. Dessutom framkom en processmodell som påvisade fem processer som samverkar under PTP-året. Dessa processer är reflektionsprocess, känsloprocess, yrkesrollprocess, lärandeprocess samt yrkesidentitetsprocess. Slutligen använde vi oss av respondentvalidering för att kvalitetssäkra de upptäckta fynden.
The aim of this study was to investigate how psychologists experience the creation of their profession during the first year of practice. We used “Grounded Theory” as research method. We interviewed 14 psychologists and found some central themes which were frequently described. The material from the interviews let us know that the social interaction with others had an effect on their own processes in becoming a psychologist. The material generated a theory that shows how the psychologist, during the first year of practice, is part in a meeting and an interaction with organization, experiences, professional development and the individual person. We also exposed a process model that revealed five processes that interact during the first year of practice. These processes were a reflection process, an emotional process, a professional role process, a learning process and a professional identity process. Finally, we used the quality assessment method of respondent validation to confirm the findings discovered.

In this thesis I discuss the role of the psychologist as a university professor and as intellectual from a specific context and also from a specific query. The context is the city of Teresina, capital city of Piauí state, which is peripheral in Brazil s northeast region. The defiance here is to build a critical psychological tradition that will deal with the challenges imposed by the reality of poverty and socio-economic backwardness of the region. The greatest difficulty is the lack of a public institution of learning that carries out instruction, research and extension with commitment to social transformation, and with the production of a psychological knowledge that is able to understand local reality. I take it that the undergraduate course in Psychology at UESPI [State University of Piauí] is the only one in Teresina that can take over such mission. The query is confronting
violence against children and adolescents that defies us to ethically and politically commit to solidarity toward fragile human beings in need of adult involvement in order to survive this daily inhumanity. The involvement of psychologists from Teresina in this must result from a social commitment and a technical competence to deal with prevention and therapeutic consideration toward the victims. This dissertation is divided into three parts: the first is a study on the curriculum and the performance of psychologists, which revises the academic output in Brazil and envisages new queries to the theme, such as the role of teaching inside the curriculum, and presents social security (including Medicare) as the privileged field in which Brazilian psychologists perform. The second part contains a study on the concepts of childhood, adolescence and violence, which presents a consideration on the strategies to confront violence against children and adolescents. In the last part I discuss
the role of the psychologist as teacher and intellectual in the context undergraduate course in Psychology at UESPI [State University of Piauí] from the commitment to the protection of children and adolescents

In this thesis I discuss the role of the psychologist as a university professor and as intellectual from a specific context and also from a specific query.
