Les langages de représentation de connaissances (LRCs) sont des langages qui permettent de représenter et partager des informations sous une forme logique. Il y a de nombreux LRCs. Chaque LRC a un modèle structurel abstrait et peut avoir plusieurs notations. Ces modèles et notations ont été conçus pour répondre à des besoins de modélisation ou de calculabilité différents, ainsi qu'à des préférences différentes. Les outils actuels gérant ou traduisant des RCs ne travaillent qu'avec quelques LRCs et ne permettent pas – ou très peu – à leurs utilisateurs finaux d'adapter les modèles et notations de ces LRCs. Cette thèse contribue à résoudre ces problèmes pratiques et le problème de recherche original suivant : “une fonction d'import et une fonction d'export de RCs peuvent-elle être spécifiées de façon générique et, si oui, comment leurs ressources peuvent-elles êtres spécifiées ?”. Cette thèse s'inscrit dans un projet plus vaste dont l'objectif général est de faciliter le partage et la réutilisation des connaissances liées aux composants logiciels et à leurs présentations. L'approche suivie dans cette thèse est basée sur une ontologie de LRCs nommée KRLO, et donc sur une représentation formelle de ces LRCs.KRLO a trois caractéristiques importantes et originales auxquelles cette thèse à contribué : i) elle représente des modèles de LRCs de différentes familles de façon uniforme, ii) elle inclut une ontologie de notations de LRCs, et iii) elle spécifie des fonctions génériques pour l'import et l'export de RCs dans divers LRCs. Cette thèse a contribué à améliorer la première version de KRLO (KRLO_2014) et à donner naissance à sa seconde version. KRLO_2014 contenait des imprécisions de modélisation qui rendaient son exploitation difficile ou peu pratique. Cette thèse a aussi contribué à la spécification et l'opérationnalisation de “Structure_map”, une fonction permettant d'écrire de façon modulaire et paramétrable toute autre fonction utilisant une boucle. Son utilisation permet de créer et d'organiser les fonctions en une ontologie de composants logiciels. Pour implémenter une fonction générique d'export basée sur KRLO, j'ai développé SRS (Structure_map based Request Solver), un résolveur d'expressions de chemins sur des RCs. SRS interprète toutes les fonctions. SRS apporte ainsi une validation expérimentale à la fois à l'utilisation de cette primitive (Structure_map) et à l'utilisation de KRLO. Directement ou indirectement, SRS et KRLO pourront être utilisés par GTH (Global Technologies Holding), l'entreprise partenaire de cette thèse.

Ce travail vise à étudier les collocations à verbe support. Un phénomène qui a été introduit par Z. Harris (1964) et décrit par plusieurs chercheurs à la suite des travaux du laboratoire d’automatique documentaire et linguistique dirigés par M. Gross. L’un des principaux buts de ce travail est de savoir comment ces phénomènes sont construits et comment les modéliser et les anticiper. Il s’agira de donner les caractéristiques différenciant ce phénomène des autres constructions comme les locutions figées, en nous penchant sur sa charge sémantique considérée à tort comme vide de sens.Cette recherche est faite dans l’optique de créer un dictionnaire bilingue de verbes supports (arabe – français) (français – arabe). C’est en ce sens que cette recherche s’intéressera aussi à la traduction de ces verbes supports en arabe afin d’essayer de créer un nouveau type d’article dictionnairique spécialement conçu pour ces derniers. Pour créer cet article dictionnairique, nous chercherons à démontrer la possibilité de classer les noms prédicatifs et leurs verbes supports suivants des catégories. Les noms prédicatifs seront divisés suivant des catégories lexicales engendrées par une ontologie binaire construite avec quatre notions et dégageant onze catégories lexicales. Les verbes supports sont à leur tour divisés en catégories sémantiques de verbes supports « scénarios » suivants lesquelles ils sont classés et peuvent être anticipés. Ces scénarios répondront aux deux critères de la limitation en nombre de scénarios et de l’exhaustivité de l’application.

This work aims at studying light verb colocations. A phenomenon that was introduced by Z. Harris (1964) and described by several researchers following the lab work of automatic documentary and linguistics directed by M. Gross.One of the main goals of this work is to know how these phenomena are built and how to model them and anticipate them. It will cover the characteristics differentiating this phenomenon from the other constructions like idioms, by leaning on its semantic load considered wrongly as meaningless.This research is done with the aim of creating a bilingual dictionary of light verbs (Arabic - French) (French - Arabic). Therefore, this research will also focus on the translation of these Arabic verbs in order to try to create a new type of dictionary article specially designed for them.To create this dictionary article, we will try to demonstrate the possibility of classifying the predicative nouns and their following light verbs into categories. Predicative nouns will be divided into lexical categories generated by a binary ontology created with four notions and distinguishing eleven lexical categories.The light verbs will be divided into semantic categories of light verbs "scenarios" following which they are classified and can be anticipated. These scenarios will meet the two criteria of limiting the number of scenarios and entireness/exhaustiveness of the application.

▼ Product lifecycle management (PLM) is a business strategy that enables seamless information flow in today's collaborative, but distributed product development environment. In such environment, geographically and functionally distributed teams are involved in the development process, and the teams use different software systems with different ways of representing product data. As the product development process gets bigger and complicated, product semantics also needs to be translated in addition to the syntactic information, but ISO 10303, the current industry standard, cannot successfully translate the semantics; this has led to a new approach toward semantics-based product data integration. Semantics-based integration first requires participating domains to use semantic representation of product data. Given the semantic representations, it further requires techniques to determine semantic maps across product representations that will enable semantically correct interoperability of product data, and we propose the enabling techniques in this research. In order to determine semantic maps, we propose a method - Instance-Based Concept Matching (IBCM) that detects 1-to-n maps by exploiting implicit semantics captured in the instances of product models. The use of implicit semantics adds a new dimension in the area of product development, where most of the previous research has focused on using schema or data definition that are explicitly defined. Any single matching method is not enough to determine the semantic maps across the different systems, since each method presents only one view. We propose a method - FEedback Matching Framework with Implicit Training (FEMFIT) to combine the different matching approaches using ranking Support Vector Machine. The method overcomes the need to explicitly train the algorithm before it is used, and minimizes the decision-making load on the domain expert. Finally, we propose a framework to automatically determine the translation rules to enable translation of concepts from one system to another. Even after the semantic maps are obtained, the syntax in the sending system should properly transform to the syntax in the receiving system. We use a graph search method that obtains the overall translation rule as a combination of multiple basic functions. Using such rules, data from one system can be easily translated to another system. ▼ Hybridity, as it is currently understood in the Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS) and International Relations (IR) literature, is defined by the complex interactions between ‘the liberal peace’ and ‘the local’. However, under this theoretical liberal-local rubric, the ways in which power is practiced has already been determined; how resistance is expressed and the forms it assumes have already been established. While it has yielded numerous important insights into how power circulates and resistance manifests in peacebuilding operations, the theoretical approach conceals other significant dynamics which escape detection by ‘the liberal peace’ and ‘the local’. However, these undetected dimensions of hybridity comprise the very processes that emerge in ways which destabilise the boundaries between ‘the liberal peace’ and ‘the local’ and reshape the contours of the emerging post-liberal peace. Instead of accepting the liberal-local distinction which defines this theoretical hybridity, this thesis advances an alternative methodological approach to exploring the tensions at play in peacebuilding projects. Rather than deploying theoretical distinctions in order to explain or understand complex hybrid processes, this thesis develops a methodological strategy for exploring the tensions between how actors design a peacebuilding project and how that project changes as actors work to translate that project into complex, everyday living sites (Callon, 1986; Law, 1997; Akrich, 1992). This tension is expressed as practical hybridity. The process of practical hybridity unfolds as the concrete material changes, modifications, and adaptations that emerge as actors appropriate and contingently translate organised practices in new ways and for different purposes. Through an ongoing process of practical hybridity, the boundaries and distinction which define the distinction between ‘the liberal peace’ and ‘the local’ become increasingly unstable. Amidst this instability, the practices which characterised ‘the liberal peace’ are becoming stretched into a post-liberal peace. Drawing on the work of Richmond (2011a; Richmond & Mitchell, 2012), Latour (1987b; 1988; 2004), and Schatzki (2002), and based on over five months of field research, this this thesis traces the process of practical hybridity at play during the implementation and evaluation of a peacebuilding project in Liberia. I participated as a research assistant on a Randomised Control Trial (RCT), implemented by a small research team under the auspices of the Oxford University’s Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE). The team was assessing the impact of a legal empowerment programme managed by The Carter Center: the Community Justice Advisor (CJA) programme. ▼ This study assumes the subject's pursuit of meaning is generally incapacitating and should be suspended. It aims to demonstrate how such a suspension is theoretically accomplished by utilizing Lacan's formulae of sexuation integrated with his work in discourse theory and topology. Part I places this study into context by examining scholarship from the established fields of hermeneutics, phenomenology, (post)structuralism, aesthetic theory and psychoanalysis in order to extract out their respective theory of meaning. These theories reveal that an historical struggle with meaning has been underway since the Reformation and reaches near crisis proportions in the 20th century. On the one hand this crisis is mollified by the rise of Heideggerian-Gadamerian hermeneutical phenomenology which questions traditional epistemological approaches to the text using a new ontological conceptualization of meaning and a conscious rejection of methodology. On the other hand this crisis is exacerbated when the ubiquitous nature of meaning is itself challenged by (post)structuralism's discovery of the signifier which inscribes a limit to meaning, and by the domains of sense and nonsense newly opened up by aesthetic theory. These historical developments culminate in the field of psychoanalysis which most consequentially delimits a cause of meaning said to be closely linked to the core of subjectivity. Part II extends these findings by rigorously constructing out of the Lacanian sexuated formulae a decidedly non-hermeneutical phenomenological approach useful in demonstrating the sexual nature of meaning. Explicated in their static state by way of an account of their original derivation from the Aristotelian logical square, it is argued that these four formulae are relevant to basic concerns of textual theory inclusive of the hermeneutical circle of meaning. These formulae are then set into motion by integrating them with Lacan's four discourses to demonstrate the breakdown of meaning. Finally, the cuts and sutures of two-dimensional space that is topology as set down in L'étourdit are performed to confirm how the very field of meaning is ultimately suspended from a nonsensical singular point known in Lacanian psychoanalysis as objet a. The contention is that by occupying this point the subject frees himself from the debilitating grip of meaning. Advisors/Committee Members: Bailey, Steven (advisor).
