Ziel der vorliegenden Studie ist es, zu untersuchen, ob Patienten, welche im Kindes- und Jugendalter an einem cerebellären pilozytischen Astrozytom operiert wurden und keine Chemo- bzw. Strahlentherapie erhielten, Langzeitfolgen in kognitiven und emotionalen Funktionen entwickeln. Hintergrund: Seit einiger Zeit wird dem Cerebellum neben motorischen Funktionen auch eine Modulator-Funktion von kognitiven und emotionalen Prozessen zugeschrieben. Die bidirektionalen Verbindungen des Cerebellums mit allen Ebenen des Zentralnervensystems unterstützen diese Sichtweise. Methoden: An 17 PatientInnen wurden intellektuelle, attentionale, mnestische, exekutive, verbale und visuell-räumliche Funktionen bzw. das Erkennen emotionaler Gesichtsausdrücke, das Emotionsempfinden und die aktuelle psychische Belastung erhoben. Ergebnisse: Signifikant schlechtere Leistungen wiesen die PatientInnen hinsichtlich exekutiver (semantische und formallexikalische Wortflüssigkeit) und verbaler Funktionen bzw. im Empfinden von positiven Emotionen auf. Ein vulnerables Alter für die Operation vor dem 10. Lebensjahr konnte für die Lern- und Wiedererkennensleistung bzw. für die aktuelle psychische Belastung bestätigt werden. Eine Beziehung zwischen präoperativem Hydrocephalus und visuell-räumlichen Funktionen bzw. die Rolle des Vermis für emotionale Funktionen konnte nicht nachgewiesen werden. Aufgrund fehlender Beeinträchtigungen in visuell-räumlichen Funktionen konnte auch das cerebelläre kognitiv-affektive Syndrom CCAS nicht bestätigt werden. Schlussfolgerung: Diese Ergebnisse bestätigen die Rolle des Cerebellums für kognitive und emotionale Funktionen und untermauern die Vermutung einer Unterbrechung der Verbindung des Cerebellums mit frontalen Strukturen, und einer daraus resultierenden Störung der Informationsverarbeitung.

The aim of the present study is to investigate if patients who have undergone surgery on a cerebellar pilocytic astrocytoma in their childhood or adolescence without receiving chemo- or radiotherapy develop long-term deficits in cognitive and emotional functions. Background: For some time there have been theories about the role of the cerebellum. In addition to the motoric function, it is also recognised as a modulator of cognitive and affective abilities. Bidirectional pathways of the cerebellum with all levels of the central nerve system support this view. Methods: 17 patients underwent neuropsychological assessment of intellectual, attentional, mnestic, executive, verbal and visual-spatial functions and recognition of emotion in face expression, identification of emotions and current mental problems respectively. Results: The patients’ performances were significantly worse than the norm population in consideration of executive (semantic and lexical wordfluency) and verbal functions and in feeling of positive emotions respectively. ▼ Smooth pursuit eye movements are movements of the eyes that are used to foveate moving objects. Their precision and adaptation is believed to depend on a constellation of sites across the cerebellum, but only one region’s contribution is well characterized, the floccular complex. Here, I characterize the response properties of neurons in the oculomotor vermis, another major division of the oculomotor cerebellum whose role in pursuit remains unknown. I recorded Purkinje cells, the output neurons of this region, in two monkeys as they executed pursuit eye movements in response to step ramp target motion. The responses of these Purkinje cells in the oculomotor vermis were very different from responses that have been documented in the floccular complex. The simple spikes of these cells encoded movement direction in retinal, as opposed to muscle coordinates. They were less related to movement kinematics, and had smaller values of trial-by-trial correlations with pursuit speed, latency, and direction than their floccular complex counterparts. Unlike Purkinje cells in the floccular complex, simple spike firing rates in the oculomotor vermis remained unchanged over the course of pursuit adaptation, likely excluding the oculomotor vermis as a site of directional plasticity. Complex spikes of these Purkinje cells were only partially responsive to target motion, and did not fall into any clear opponent directional organization with simple spikes, as has been found in the floccular complex. In general, Purkinje cells in the oculomotor vermis were responsive to both pursuit and to saccadic eye movements, but maintained tuning for the direction of these movements along separate directions at a population level. Predictions of caudal fastigial nucleus activity, generated on the basis of our population of oculomotor vermal Purkinje cells, faithfully tracked moment-by-movement changes in pursuit kinematics. By contrast, these responses did not faithfully track moment-by-moments changes in saccade kinematics. These results suggest that the oculomotor vermis is likely to play a smaller role in influencing pursuit eye movements by comparison to the floccular complex. ZIELSETZUNG: Ziel dieser Untersuchung war die Erfassung kognitiver und emotionaler Funktionen und der psychischen Belastbarkeit von Patienten, welchen neurochirurgisch eine Kolloidzyste entfernt wurde. HINTERGRUND: Kolloidzysten sind seltene gutartige Tumore, die im anterioren Bereich des dritten Ventrikels lokalisiert sind. Die Kolloidzystenoperation wie auch die Kolloidzyste selbst können Läsionen anatomischer Strukturen verursachen, welche für kognitive und emotionale Funktionen wesentlich sind und damit kognitive, emotionale und/oder psychische Beeinträchtigungen zur Folge haben. In der Literatur finden sich kaum Studien, welche sich mit den Folgen von Kolloidzysten bzw. Kolloidzystenoperationen auseinandersetzen. METHODE: Bei 18 Patienten wurden kognitive (intellektuelle, attentionale, exekutive und mnestische Fertigkeiten) und emotionale (Emotionserkennung) Funktionen sowie die aktuelle psychische Belastung mittels neuopsychologischer Verfahren erfasst. ERGEBNISSE: Es konnten keine Folgen der Kolloidzyste bzw. der Kolloidzystenoperation auf intellektuelle (SPM-K) und attentionale Fertigkeiten (TMT), das Erkennen von Emotionen in Gesichtern (VERT-K) und die aktuelle psychische Belastung (SCL-90-R) festgestellt werden. Im Vergleich mit der Normalbevölkerung fanden sich bei den Patienten Defizite in der formal-lexikalischen Wortflüssigkeit (RWT, exekutive Fertigkeit) und im spezifisch-autobiographischen Erinnern (AMT, Autobiographisches Gedächtnis). Patienten mit transcallosalem Operationszugang erbrachten in der verbalen Gedächtnisleistung (VLMT, Neugedächtnis und Lernfähigkeit) signifikant schlechtere Leistungen als transcortical operierte Patienten. Die neuropsychologischen Fertigkeiten waren unabhängig vom Zeitraum seit dem neurochirurgischen Eingriff. Auch konnte keine signifikante Übereinstimmung zwischen objektiven und subjektiven postoperativen Beeinträchtigungsbeurteilungen festgestellt werden. SCHLUSSFOLGERUNG: Aufgrund dieser Ergebnisse sind Defizite in kognitiven und emotionalen Funktionen (formallexikalische Wortflüssigkeit und spezifisch-autobiographisches Erinnern) bei Patienten nach einer Kolloidzystenoperation zu erwarten, weshalb diese routinemäßig neuropsychologisch untersucht und gegebenenfalls spezifische Rehabilitationsmaßnahmen eingeleitet werden sollten. Beeinträchtigungen in der verbalen Gedächtnisleistung stehen nur im Zusammenhang mit dem transcallosalem Operationszugang, weshalb bei zukünftigen Kolloidzystenexstirpationen der transcorticale Operationszugang bevorzugt werden sollte.

▼ The primate oculomotor system and the underlying neural circuitry involved in the generation of saccades is well established. Because there are many brain systems involved in generating saccades, the oculomotor system makes for a good model to examine impaired brain functions in mental disorders believed to have widespread disruptions in neural circuitry like schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a disabling disorder characterized by impaired cognitive and sensorimotor function. While it is believed several brain areas are affected in schizophrenia, recent studies have implicated the cerebellum to play a role. In addition to reported cerebellar abnormalities in schizophrenia in imaging studies, other studies have suggested that the cerebellum controls and mediates cognitive function similarly to the way it controls and mediates motor function. Thus, any dysfunction of the cerebellum can result in the variety of motor and cognitive deficits characteristic to schizophrenia. In the current study saccade adaptation, an oculomotor mechanism believed to heavily rely on the oculomotor vermis of the cerebellum, was assessed in healthy individuals and non-medicated first episode schizophrenia patients. Subjects performed visually guided saccades as well as a saccade adaptation paradigm in which the target is displaced during the saccade, inducing retinal error, i.e. error between the intended eye movement and target position. After repeated trials, healthy subjects gradually adapt to minimize retinal error by adjusting saccade amplitude to reach the new target position. Schizophrenia patients adapted as well as the healthy controls in that retinal error was reduced by similar amounts at similar rates across the trials of the adaptation task. Although adaptation was unimpaired in schizophrenia patients, findings in measures of saccade kinematics suggest dysfunction of the oculomotor vermis and possibly other areas of the cerebellum. Saccade dynamic characteristics provided more sensitive measures believed to better characterize the mechanisms of the cerebellum than latency and amplitude could provide alone. Patients facilitated similar adaptation by using different saccade kinematics from healthy controls. Another finding revealed schizophrenia patients had increased saccade amplitude variability, suggesting that any cerebellar deficits in maintaining saccade accuracy may have been compensated for while variability in saccade performance was not. The last finding revealed differences between the groups in timing parameters of certain saccade kinematics throughout all saccade types suggesting that other areas of the cerebellum not responsible for adaptation may also be affected in schizophrenia. Ziel: Die vorliegende Untersuchung wurde durchgeführt, um zu prüfen, ob Multiple Sklerose (MS) PatientInnen mit Eisenringläsionen (ERL) eine schlechtere kognitive Leistungsentwicklung im Zeitraum von einem Jahr aufweisen als MS PatientInnen ohne ERL. Zusätzlich wurde überprüft, ob demographische Daten und Eigenschaften der Läsionen mit der Entwicklung der Leistungsfähigkeit zusammenhängen. Methode: Insgesamt wurden 27 MS PatientInnen (19 mit ERL) zum Zeitpunkt der Baseline- und Follow Up-Untersuchung einer breiten neuropsychologischen Testung unterzogen, die insgesamt 7 verschiedene kognitive Parameter und Fragebögen zu MS-typischen Symptomen und der Lebensqualität beinhaltete. Durch 7-Tesla-MRT-Aufnahmen konnten Daten über die Anzahl und das Volumen der ERL und anderer Läsionen gewonnen und in die statistische Analyse inkludiert werden. Ergebnisse: Es zeigte sich keine unterschiedliche Leistungsentwicklung zwischen den Gruppen mit und ohne ERL, außer im Bereich der formallexikalischen Wortflüssigkeit. Entgegen der Vermutungen zeigten MS-PatientInnen mit ERL einen signifikant niedrigeren Rückgang der kognitiven Leistungsfähigkeit als die Gruppe ohne ERL. Eine längere Erkrankungsdauer, eine größere Zunahme der Depressionssymptomatik und eine höhere Läsionslast standen mit einer schlechteren kognitiven Leistungsentwicklung in Verbindung. Schlussfolgerungen: Im Zeitraum von einem Jahr sind ERL kein prognostisch relevanter Marker für einen größeren Rückgang der kognitiven Leistungsfähigkeit bei MS-PatientInnen. Da ERL einen Hinweis auf eine verstärkte Neurodegeneration darstellen, muss diese Beobachtung in zukünftigen Studien mit einer größeren, homogeneren Stichprobe und einem längeren Zeitabstand zwischen Baseline- und Follow-Up-Untersuchung überprüft werden.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine, if multiple sclerosis (MS) patients with iron rim lesions (IRL) show an increased decline in cognitive ability after a 1-year period of time compared to MS patients without IRL. Additionally, we examined if there’s a relationship between demographic and lesions related variables and the development of cognitive ability. Method: In total, 27 MS patients (19 with IRL) completed a neuropsychological test battery, which examined 7 cognitive domains and additionally answered questionnaires related to quality of life and the impact of the disease. Thanks to 7-Tesla-MRI scans, we were able to include lesion related data in the statistical analysis. Results: There was no significant difference in the development of cognitive ability between MS patients with and without IRl, except for word fluency. In contradiction to our prediction, participants with IRL showed less decline in cognitive ability compared to patients without IRL. Longer disease duration, bigger increase in depressive symptoms and a higher lesion burden were related to enhanced cognitive decline. Smärta är ett komplext fenomen och upplevelsen av smärta är högst subjektiv. Hur smärta upplevs påverkas av en rad faktorer där bland annat emotionella och kognitiva processer spelar en central roll för smärtupplevelsen. I sitt arbete möter sjuksköterskan både patienter med smärta, men också patienter som ska genomgå smärtsamma behandlingar. Av denna anledning ses det som betydelsefullt att lyfta fram den psykologiska aspekten av smärta. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa psykologiska aspekterna av smärta med fokus på kognitioners och emotioners inverkan på smärtupplevelsen, i relation till patientens omvårdnad. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie där 15 vetenskapliga artiklar granskades och analyserades. Resultatet visade att känslor som ängslan, rädsla och oro, liksom tankar, förväntningar och tolkningar hade betydelse för hur patienter upplevde smärta. Av hänsyn till detta resultat ses det som viktigt att sjuksköterskan känner till och tar dessa faktorer i beaktande vid mötet med patienten då de är av stor betydelse för hur patienten kommer att uppleva sin smärta. Forskningen bör i vidare utsträckning undersöka sambandet mellan psykologiska faktorer och smärtupplevelse. Det är även önskvärt att studier utförda med kvalitativ metod implementeras i forskningen, då detta kan skapa en djupare förståelse för fenomenet smärtupplevelse. Att få ökade kunskaper om individens tankar, uppfattningar och erfarenheter är av största intresse eftersom smärtupplevelsen är subjektiv.

Pain is a complex phenomenon and the experience of pain is highly subjective. How pain is experienced is influenced by a number of factors that include emotional and cognitive processes, proved to be crucial for the perception of pain. In their everyday work, nurses meet both patients with pain, as well as patients about to undergo painful treatments. For this reason, it is important to highlight the psychological aspects of pain. The purpose of this study was to elucidate psychological aspects of pain, focusing on cognitive and emotional effects of pain perception in relation to patient care. The study was conducted as a literature review where 15 scientific articles were reviewed and analyzed. The results showed that emotions such as anxiety and fear, as well as thoughts, expectations and interpretations were factors contributing in how patients explained pain. Considering these results, it is important that nurses take these factors into account when interacting with patients, as they are of great importance for the experience of pain. Research should further examine the relationship between psychological factors and pain perception. It is also desirable that qualitative studies are implemented in research, as this may gain a deeper understanding about the phenomenon of pain perception. As the perception of pain is subjective, an increased knowledge in an individual's thoughts, perceptions and experiences are of great interest.

Après avoir longtemps ignoré le domaine des émotions, la neuropsychologie clinique reconnait aujourd’hui son intrication avec le domaine cognitif et son importance dans le suivi des patients cérébrolésés, chez lesquels des difficultés à reconnaître les émotions perturbent la qualité des échanges interpersonnels et la cognition sociale. Cette thèse porte sur la reconnaissance de cinq émotions de base (joie, peur, colère, tristesse, dégoût) et d’une expression neutre dans deux groupes de patients, avec gliome de bas grade et après accident vasculaire cérébral. L’évaluation recourt à deux modalités non verbales visuelles et auditives et une condition intermodale. Pour mieux comprendre le fonctionnement émotionnel des patients avec gliome, nous avons analysé les compétences émotionnelles de trois d’entre eux. Les résultats de nos recherches objectivent des difficultés modérées de reconnaissance des émotions en modalités visuelle et auditive pour les deux populations avec des déficits plus discrets chez les patients avec gliome de bas grade que chez les patients après accident vasculaire cérébral. Ces résultats confirment la pertinence de la théorie d’organisation hodotopique du cerveau pour les processus émotionnels comme pour les autres domaines cognitifs. Le bénéfice comportemental constaté pour les deux groupes en présentation intermodale ne suffit cependant pas toujours à normaliser les résultats, ce qui implique de probables répercussions quotidiennes. Ce travail souligne l’importance de l’évaluation des émotions non seulement reconnues, mais aussi ressenties, dans le suivi des patients cérébrolésés, notamment ceux qui souffrent de tumeurs d’évolution lente.

Emotional domain was ignored for a long time, but today clinical neuropsychology acknowledges its overlapping with the cognitive domain and its importance in the follow-up of brain-damage patients, where difficulties in emotion recognition reduce the quality of interpersonal interactions and social cognition. The present thesis focuses on the recognition of five basic emotions (happiness, fear, anger, sadness, disgust) and of a neutral expression in two groups of patients with low-grade gliomas and post-stroke. The experimental protocol, which requires visual and auditory non-verbal processing, also includes a crossmodal condition. Three case studies of patients with gliomas allow us to refine our understanding of their emotional functioning. Our results show moderate visual and auditory difficulties in emotion recognition for both groups, with lower deficits in the glioma group than in the post-stroke group. These results confirm the relevance of a hodotopical view of the brain for emotional processes as in other cognitive domains. However, the behavioral benefit of crossmodal presentation observed in both groups is not sufficient to sustain normal results, which is likely to impact daily life. Die Bedeutung der Bewegungen des Körpers ist in seiner Natur schwer fassbar, und oft nur in Bezug auf seine Wirkung auf oder in einer Umgebung zu verstehen. Doch was hat eine willkürliche Beugung des Knies mit beschwingter Freude zu tun? Was bedeutet das Drehen der Taille in Verbindung mit Wut? Mehr als man sich je vorzustellen vermag.... vor allem im Kontext des Tanzes. Die Bewegungen des Körpers und seine emotional ausdrucksstarken Leistungen ermöglichen die Untersuchung nonverbaler Aspekte des triadischen Informationsaustauschs zwischen ChoreografIn, TänzerIn und Publikum. Um die besondere Überschneidung dieser Phänomene – Emotion, Bewegung (Tanz) und Kommunikation – zu erforschen, bediente sich dieses Experiment eines nonverbalen kommunikativen choreografischen Prozesses, um die Wirksamkeit der Kommunikation der eigenen Emotionserfahrung durch Bewegung zu untersuchen. Dies war eine zweiteilige Studie. In Studie 1 gaben ChoreographInnen Emotionsabsichten an zwei verschiedene choreografische Gruppen von TänzerInnen weiter. In Studie 2 vermittelten die beiden Gruppen von TänzerInnen emotionale Absichten an ein Publikum. Die beiden Gruppen von TänzerInnen unterschieden sich im choreographischen Training: Die eine erhielt kein verbales choreographisches Feedback und die andere tat es. Während der Versuchsperiode fand der choreografische Prozess in zwei Teilen statt: der kinematischen Struktur der Bewegung und der Verfeinerung der Bewegung. Jede Tänzerin wurde anhand einer skalenbasierten Bewertung zu ihrer emotionalen Erfahrung befragt und interviewt, um ihre Fähigkeit zu bewerten, die emotionalen Absichten der Choreographen zu fühlen und zu verstehen. Insbesondere demonstrieren die Ergebnisse die Fähigkeit der TänzerInnen, die emotionalen Absichten der ChoreografInnen zu fühlen und zu verstehen; sowie die Fähigkeit des Publikums, die emotionalen Absichten der beiden Gruppen von TänzerInnen zu fühlen und zu verstehen. Diese Studie beschreibt die Annahmen und Unsicherheiten über den Körper und seine Bewegungen als Bestandteil des Denkens - und zeigt, wie effektiv wir selbst die Komplexität von Emotionen kommunizieren können, indem wir den Körper als explizites Kommunikationsmittel nutzen und schließlich diese emotionalen Erfahrungen, die in den Bewegungen des Körpers entstehen, mit anderen erfolgreich austauschen.

▼ Vorliegende Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Überprüfung der Qualität der, ins Deutsche übersetzten, Elternversion des Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF), ein Verfahren das konstruiert wurde, um die Natur und Existenz von im Alltagsverhalten manifestierten exekutiven Funktionsdefiziten bei Kindern der Altersgruppe 5- 18 zu erfassen. Exekutivfunktionen, ein in der Wissenschaft kontrovers diskutiertes Konstrukt, setzt sich aus vielen verschiedenen Fähigkeiten des Menschen zusammen, welche zur erfolgreichen Bewältigung von wichtigen Aktivitäten des täglichen Lebens benötigt werden. Das Hauptaugenmerk der Untersuchung lag auf der Replizierbarkeit der Gütekriterien der englischsprachigen Originalversion, sowie der Beurteilung der Praxistauglichkeit besagten Verfahrens. Hierfür wurde eine „Nicht- klinische“ Stichprobe von 395 Kindern im Alter zwischen 7 und 15 Jahren aus öffentlichen Volks- und Hauptschulen, sowie einer AHS mittels einer eigens zusammengestellten Testbatterie, bestehend aus anerkannten kognitiven und neuropsychologischen Verfahren bzw. Teile aus diesen, getestet. Die Eltern der Kinder bearbeiteten zudem die übersetzte Version des BRIEF, sowie die Child Behavior Checklist 4- 18. Die Zuverlässigkeit des Verfahrens kann auf Grund der Ergebnisse der Reliabilitäts- und Itemtrennschärfeanalyse als sehr hoch eingeschätzt werden. Die von Gioia et al. (2000) postulierte Faktorenstruktur konnte jedoch sowohl in Bezug auf die Item- Skalen- Zuordnung, sowie der Zusammenfassung der Skalen zu zwei übergeordneten Indizes (BRI; MI) nicht vollständig repliziert werden. Die ökologische Validität wird aufgrund der lebensnahen Bearbeitungssituation als recht hoch eingeschätzt. Die Überprüfung der Konstruktvalidität führt zu dem Schluss, einer notwendigen Differenzierung zwischen kognitiven und behavioralen Aspekten exekutiver Funktionen, wobei sich das BRIEF angesichts der Ergebnisse vorliegender Studie lediglich zur Erfassung zweiterer eignet. Ein Einsatz in der psychologischen Praxisarbeit wird dennoch als sehr hilfreich zur Generierung zusätzlicher Informationen erachtet. Von einem vollständigen Verzicht auf die bisher zur Diagnostik exekutiver Dysfunktionen herangezogenen konventionellen Erhebungsmethoden, sollte jedoch abgesehen werden.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäfigt sich mit der emotionalen Wirkung der Künste. Strukturell ist sie in zwei Teile gegliedert. Der erste beschäftigt sich mit dem aristotelischen Begriff der Katharsis, der zweite mit aktuellen Konzepten ästhetischer Emotion. Der Begriff der Katharsis kann getrost als eine der wichtigsten und zugleich umstrittensten ästhetischen Kategorien überhaupt bezeichnet werden. Seit Jahrhunderten wird über die Bedeutung der kurzen Erwähnung des Begriffs in der Aristotelischen Poetik spekuliert, diskutiert und gestritten. Zum heutigen Zeitpunkt liegt eine beinahe unüberschaubare Menge an einander widersprechenden Interpretationen und Transformationen vor. Der erste Teil der vorliegenden Arbeit entwirft eine zeitgenössische Interpretation von Katharsis, die die Aristotelischen Quellen jedoch nicht ignoriert, sondern diese vielmehr als relevante, doch zumeist mißverstandene Einsichten hochhält. Darauf aufbauend wird Katharsis als ästhetisches Konzept interpretiert, das Emotionen, die im Kontext der Rezeption von griechischen Tragödien, dem Flötenspiel und den Künsten generell mit einer einzigartigen Qualität ausstattet. Unter Bezugnahme auf zwei weitere Aristotelische Quellen, nämlich der Politik und der Rhetorik, wird der Versuch unternommen, Katharsis von der spezifischen dramatischen Struktur griechischer Tragödien, mit der der Begriff traditionellerweise verknüpft wird, loszulösen und ihn als Konzept, das den Unterschied zwischen jenen Emotionen, die im Alltag auftreten und jenen, die im Kontext der Künste erfahren werden, zu etablieren. Diese spezielle Gruppe von Emotionen wird im zweiten Teil der Arbeit unter dem Begriff „ästhetische Emotionen“ geführt. Die Kognitionswissenschaften untersuchen auf mehreren Ebenen die emotionale Wirkung der Künste auf ihre Rezipientinnen und Rezipienten. Der zweite Teil dieser Arbeit kombiniert und ergänzt diese Untersuchungen und deren Resultate mit jenem Konzept von Katharsis, das im ersten Teil erarbeitet wurde. Hauptsächlich werden dabei psychologische und neurowissenschaftliche Belege herangezogen, von größter Relevanz ist die kognitive Bewertungstheorie für die Untersuchung und Theorie ästhetischer Emotionen. Der zweite Teil dieser Arbeit mündet schließlich in einer umfassenden Kritik aktueller Theorien ästhetischer Emotionen; einer Interpretation von Katharsis aus Sicht der Kognitionswissenschaften; und schließlich einem Modell emotionaler Resonanz auf die Künste. Dieses Modell führt die verschiedenen Ergebnisse der vorliegenden Arbeit zusammen und verweist damit auf die Komplexität emotionaler Vorgänge im Kontext der Künste.

Die Studie diente der Überprüfung der Fluency- affect- liking Hypothese (Reber, Schwarz & Winkielman, 2004), die besagt, dass eine flüssigere, leichtere Verarbeitung einen Anstieg in affektiven Beurteilungen mit sich bringt (Winkielman, Schwarz, Fazendeiro & Reber, 2003). Die higher- order processing fluency steht in Zusammenhang mit Stimulusbedeutung und semantischen Strukturen. In Anlehnung an das cross-modal semantic priming paradigm aus der Studie von Belke, Leder, Strobach und Carbon (2010), wurden mit deskriptiven passenden oder unpassenden Titel vor dem Kunstwerk, entweder die Verarbeitung erleichtert oder behindert. Als Kontroll- bzw. neutrale Bedingung fungierten die Wörter „Kein Titel“ vor dem Bild. Anhand subjektiver Ratings zu Gefallen und Interessantheit, sowie einem Gesichts-Elektromyogramm (fEMG) wurden die Reaktionen von Kunstlaien auf abstrakte, gegenständliche und kubistische Kunstwerke erfasst. Die Ergebnisse stehen im Einklang mit der Fluency- affect- liking Hypothese. Kunstwerke mit passenden Titel gefielen signifikant mehr, als Werke mit unpassenden Titel oder keinen Titel. Es konnte auch eine Veränderung in die negative Richtung berichtet werden (vgl. Reber, Winkielman & Schwarz, 1998). Kunstwerke mit unpassenden Titeln gefielen signifikant weniger als Werke mit keinen Titel. Der Effekt war vom Stil abhängig, er zeigte sich nur bei abstrakten Bildern. Auch bezüglich der Interessantheit zeigten sich nur bei abstrakten Bildern höhere Ratings für Bilder mit passenden, im Gegensatz zu unpassenden Titel. In allen Stilen, in allen Bedingungen, korrelierten Interessantheitsratings signifikant mit Gefallensratings. Auch die Aktivitäten im fEMG zeigten Fluency- konforme Ergebnisse. Die Reaktionen im Musculus corrugator supercilii waren in der inkongruenten signifikant höher als in den anderen Bedingung und auch in der neutralen signifikant höher als in der kongruenten Bedingung. Die Aktivitäten im Musculus zygomaticus major waren in der kongruenten Bedingung signifikant höher, was positive Gefühle widerspiegelt. Hier zeigten sich auch Unterschiede über die einzelnen Zeitintervalle. Die Studie zeigt, dass ästhetische Erfahrungen im Verarbeitungsprozess wurzeln und cognitive Fluency selbst, positive Emotionen auslösen kann.

The study is based on the Fluency- affect- liking Hypothesis (Reber, Schwarz & Winkielman, 2004). ▼ Auf Basis einer umfangreichen Literaturrecherche beschäftigt sich diese Diplomarbeit mit dem Einsatz des Mediums Film im Unterricht Deutsch als Fremdsprache. Zum einen wird die Diskussion beleuchtet, die um Film als unterrichtlichen Gegenstand seit vielen Jahren geführt wird, zum anderen das vielfältige Potenzial von Film als authentischem Kulturprodukt sowie der konkrete methodische Einsatz beschrieben. Es wird deutlich, welche Fähigkeiten und welches Wissen der/die RezipientIn anwenden muss, um einen filmischen Text verstehen zu können und wie sich diese Prozesse in Bezug auf Fremdsprachenlernen nutzen lassen. So wird detailliert auf die fünfte und sechste Fertigkeit, dem Seh-Verstehen sowie dem Hör-Seh-Verstehen, eingegangen bzw. auf die Können- und Wissensbestände, auf prozeduraler und deklarativer Ebene. Auch Film als Zeichensystem wird vor allem durch die Theorie des Semiotikers Charles Sanders Peirce erläutert, der drei Arten von filmischen Zeichen – ikonischer, indexikalischer und symbolischer Art – klassifizierte. Ihre Verknüpfung in Form von Codes wird durch die Analyse unterschiedlicher Filmwissenschaftler wie Christian Metz und Thomas Kuchenbuch veranschaulicht. Dies dient u.a. dazu, den Aspekt der Kulturgebundenheit in der Rezeption deutlich zu machen, verweisen diese Zeichen und Codes doch großteils auf außerfilmisch codierte Wirklichkeitsbereiche, die aufgrund dessen zu unterschiedlichen Interpretationen auf LernerInnenseite führen können. Das vielfältige Potenzial, das Film für den Unterricht eröffnet, wird in der Arbeit in drei Bereiche gegliedert und einzeln thematisiert: die effektive Nutzung des Hör-Seh-Verstehens, die „veranschaulichte“ Landeskunde sowie die Steigerung der (Sprach-)Lernprozesse, die durch die Einbeziehung und Auslösung von Emotionen durch Film im Unterricht ermöglicht wird. Neben dieser theoretischen Besprechung werden unterschiedliche Modelle des Filmeinsatzes beschrieben sowie eine Aufgabentypologie skizziert. Auch wird auf die Möglichkeit einer didaktischen Filmanalyse, die sich mit den ästhetischen Mitteln des Films, wie Montage- und Schnitttechniken, Kameraperspektiven etc. auseinandersetzt, eingegangen. Zur Illustration dient der Ausschnitt einer Filmdidaktisierung von „Kirschblüten Hanami“ (Regie: Doris Dörrie, 2008), die 2009 im Österreich Institut publiziert wurde. Die Thematisierung erscheint besonders aktuell, da trotz der überwiegend positiven Bewertung des Einsatzes von Film im Fremdsprachenunterricht die Verwendung des Mediums, folgt man den meisten AutorInnen, noch kein gängiger Habitus geworden zu sein scheint und auch wenig Niederschlag im wissenschaftlichen Bereich Deutsch als Fremdsprache sowie in der Unterrichtspraxis findet.

Empathie ist ein multidimensionales Konstrukt, das aus mehreren Komponenten besteht, wie Emotionserkennung, emotionale Perspektivübernahme und affektives Nachempfinden. Schizophrene Patienten zeigen Defizite in verschiedenen Bereichen der Emotionserkennung und Perspektivübernahme. In der vorliegenden Studie wurden empathische Fähigkeiten durch drei Paradigmen zur Messung der Emotionserkennung, der emotionalen Perspektivübernahme und affektiven Responsivität erhoben. Für die Evaluierung der Paradigmen wurden 55 (28 Frauen, 27 Männer) gesunde Personen untersucht. Um die Empathiefähigkeit von 24 (12 Frauen, 12 Männer) schizophrenen Patienten zu erfassen, wurden ihre Leistungen in den drei Paradigmen sowie ihre Selbsteinschätzungen ihrer empathischen Fähigkeiten mit jenen von 24 gesunden, nach Alter, Geschlecht und Bildungsniveau der Eltern parallelisierten Kontrollprobanden verglichen. Die Reliabilitätsanalysen resultierten in befriedigenden Cronbach Alphas für die drei Paradigmen. Die Datenanalyse der Patienten- und Kontrollgruppe ergab empathische Defizite der Patientengruppe, erkennbar in schlechteren Leistungen in allen drei Komponenten. Ein Vergleich der drei Empathieaufgaben zeigte, dass es sich bei der emotionalen Perspektivübernahme für alle Studienteilnehmer um die schwierigste Aufgabe handelte. Das Empathiedefizit spiegelte sich nur teilweise in den Selbsteinschätzungs-Fragebögen wieder und zwischen den Empathieaufgaben und den Fragebögen konnten keine signifikanten Korrelationen gefunden werden. Letzteres Resultat könnte auf die eingeschränkte Validität von Selbsteinschätzungen der Empathiefähigkeit zurückgeführt werden. Die Ergebnisse legen nahe, dass alle Empathiekomponenten bei Vorliegen einer schizophrenen Erkrankung beeinträchtigt und daher in Verhaltenstherapien unabhängig voneinander zu behandeln sind, um dadurch die Möglichkeit zu schaffen, die psychosoziale Gesundheit schizophrener Patienten zu verbessern.

Empathy is a multidimensional construct consisting of several components such as emotion recognition, emotional perspective taking and affective responsiveness. Patients with schizophrenia demonstrate deficits in several domains of emotion processing and perspective taking. In the present study empathic abilities were assessed via three paradigms measuring emotion recognition, emotional perspective taking and affective responsiveness. For the evaluation of the paradigms 55 (28 females, 27 males) healthy volunteers were examined. In order to judge empathic abilities of 24 (12 females, 12 males) patients meeting the DSM-IV criteria for schizophrenia their performance in the paradigms as well as their self-reported empathic abilities were compared to 24 healthy controls matched for age, gender and parental education.
