El proyecto Escondida Ore Access (EOA) es parte de la actual operación en Escondida y busca mantener frentes de mineral operativos disponibles para proporcionar alimentación a las dos concentradoras existentes. Si este proyecto no se ejecutara, el costo de minado sería más alto y los minerales de menores leyes serian la única opción disponible, reduciendo así la producción de cobre y la vida de la mina. El Proyecto de EOA permite acceder de forma anticipada a los minerales de más alta ley, cambiar la secuencia y estrategia de ley de corte que permita la explotación de minerales considerando los precios altos de cobre. Los elementos clave que soportan este caso de negocio son:  Proporcionar alimentación con mejores leyes, una vez que la decisión de retirar los chancadores del rajo se haya tomado  El proyecto genera un NPV positivo  El proyecto mejora la flexibilidad operacional de Escondida  Alineación con los objetivos estratégicos de la empresa. En este proyecto en particular, el beneficio logrado se debe a la estrategia de anticipar las leyes más altas y reducir los costos de capital en el tiempo; en este sentido, la opción de mover los chancadores fuera del rajo, es finalmente más robusta económicamente que movimientos sucesivos de los chancadores. Durante el estudio de Selección, de las 11 alternativas iniciales, se redujeron a solamente 4 opciones: alternativas 3, 4, 10 y 11 que llegaron al análisis económico. Se desarrollaron planes de producción detallados para evaluar las alternativas desde el punto de vista técnico y económico. El OWO, es un “Do Nothing” (“no hacer nada") que continúa con la mina actual sin inversión de capital y que se evalúa contra las alternativas 3, 4, 10 y 11. Al comparar el NPV incremental entre las alternativas bajo estudio, la alternativa 11 presenta el NPV más alto, menor riesgo y mayor flexibilidad operativa. Por esta razón, fue seleccionada como la alternativa Go-Forward a ser optimizada en Definición y posteriormente ejecutada. La ubicación ExPit de los chancados se encuentra fuera del límite de pit final definido por el LoA11. Sin embargo, las perforaciones profundas al Este de Escondida han revelado la presencia de recursos explotables a profundidad. Perforación de condenación se llevó a cabo en la zona y confirma que dichos recursos no serían explotados en por lo menos 30 años. Es válido pensar que la ubicación de la infraestructura en Escondida es temporal, debido a que los cambios en los precios, costos y el descubrimiento de nuevos recursos cambiaran los límites del pit final.

Magistro baigiamajame darbe išanalizuoti dažniausiai taikomi investicinių projektų ekonominio vertinimo metodai, jų imtyje esantys ir vertinimo rezultato tikslumui įtaką turintys faktoriai, įvardintos taikymo problemos bei pasiūlyti galimi sprendimo būdai. Pirmoje darbo dalyje nagrinėjami teoriniai ekonominio vertinimo aspektai: pinigų srautas ir jo sudarymas, pinigų vertė laike, diskontavimas. Antroje dalyje nagrinėjamas atskirų mokslinėje literatūroje minimų investicinių projektų vertinimo metodų teorinis pagrįstumas, analizuojama, kokie ekonominiai faktoriai yra įtraukiami į jų skaičiavimo algoritmą, įvardijamas to įtakotas rezultatų tendencingumas, apibendrinami pagrindiniai privalumai ir trūkumai bei jų taikymo, kaip pirminio ekonominio vertinimo metodo, galimybės. Trečioje dalyje nagrinėjami du pagrindiniai ekonominio vertinimo metodai: NPV ir IRR. Nagrinėjant du investicinius projektus bei modeliuojant įvairiomis savybėmis pasižyminčius pinigų srautus ir atliekant jų vertinimą minėtais metodais, iliustruojamos jų rezultatų prieštaringumo ar panaudojimo ribotumo priežastys, pateikiami jų likvidavimo pasiūlymai ir ekonominė interpretacija.

Analysis of most commonly applied methods for economic evaluation of Investment Projects, their scope of economical factors impacting final results, limitations for their practical application and proposals how to eliminate them are carried out in this Master’s Work. First part of the Work describes theoretical aspects of an economical evaluation: cash flow and its composition, time value of money, discounting. The second part focuses on analysis of certain evaluation methods mentioned in the scientific literature and their theoretical validity, what economical factors are incorporated in to calculation algorithms, naming the impact on the results underlining their pros and cons and possibilities to be the primary evaluation method. The third part concentrates on two main methods: NPV and IRR. Analyzing two Investment projects and modeling cash flows with various characteristics and performing evaluation using the methods mentioned before illustrating causes for their contraindications and/or limited application are presented. Illustrations are followed by economical interpretations and arithmetical solutions for elimination of limitations for their application.

Os métodos determinísticos utilizados para avaliação econômico-financeira de projetos de investimentos, como o Valor Presente Líquido (VPL) e a Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR), contemplam exatidão do comportamento futuro das variáveis inerentes ao projeto. Porém, as imprevisibilidades futuras acrescidas da alta volatilidade da economia e tecnologia mundial tornam as análises determinísticas frágeis em situações onde existam incertezas, o que pode levar gestores e investidores a tomar decisões equivocadas quanto à alocação de capital. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo geral a comparação entre dois métodos que podem ser utilizados para avaliação de investimentos que abordam a condição de incerteza. O método de Monte Carlo, em seu caráter estatístico, permite que as variáveis presentes sejam consideradas por meio de distribuições de probabilidade, as quais associadas a geração de números aleatórios fornecem uma resposta que considera as incertezas presentes. O Valor Presente Líquido fuzzy constitui-se em um método alternativo para análise, o qual considera as variáveis incertas como números nebulosos, ou seja, concepções matemáticas que não apresentam fronteiras rígidas. Por meio da aplicação dos métodos em uma situação real de investimento, buscou-se realizar uma análise comparativa, que levasse em conta os resultados numéricos obtidos e a conceituação teórica envolvida.

The deterministic methods used for economical and financial evaluation of investments projects, such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate Return (IRR) consider the future comportment of the project variables as exact values. Nevertheless, the future unpredictability and the high volatility of world economy and technology make fragile the deterministic analysis under situations that uncertainty is present, what may lead managers and investors to take bad decisions about capital allocation. The main objective of this assignment is two compare two different methods used to evaluate investments under uncertainty. The Monte Carlo method is its statistical character, allows to associate probability distributions with random numbers and this application provides that includes uncertainty. The fuzzy Net Present Value is an alternative method to analyze investments, which consider uncertainty variable as fuzzy numbers, i.e., mathematics conceptions that do not present absolute borders. Two different kinds of comparisons were produced by applications of both methods in a real investment situation: the first was developed based on numeric analysis; the second is based on a theory that involves those methods.

▼ Waterflooding is currently the most commonly used method to improve oil recovery after primary depletion. The reservoir heterogeneity such as permeability distribution could negatively affect the performance of waterflooding. The presence of high permeability streaks could lead to an early water breakthrough at the producers and thus reduce the sweep efficiency in the field. One approach to counteract the impact of heterogeneity and to improve waterflood sweep efficiency is through optimal rate allocation to the injectors and producers. Through optimal rate control, we can manage the propagation of the flood front, delay water breakthrough at the producers and also increase the sweep and hence, the recovery efficiency. The arrival time optimization method uses a streamline-based method to calculate water arrival time sensitivities with respect to production and injection rates. It can also optimize sweep efficiency on multiple realizations to account for geological uncertainty. To extend the scope of this optimization method for more general conditions, this work utilized a finite difference simulator and streamline tracing software to conduct the optimization. Apart from sweep efficiency, another most widely used optimization method is to maximize the net present value (NPV) within a given time period. Previous efforts on optimization of waterflooding used optimal control theorem to allocate injection/production rates for fixed well configurations. The streamline-based approach gives the optimization result in a much more computationally efficient manner. In the present study, we compare the arrival time optimization and NPV optimization results to show their strengths and limitations. The NPV optimization uses a perturbation method to calculate the gradients. The comparison is conducted on a 4- spot synthetic case. Then we introduce the accelerated arrival time optimization which has an acceleration term in the objective function to speed up the oil production in the field. The proposed new approach has the advantage of considering both the sweep efficiency and net present value in the field. ▼ Background: TB detection rate remains critical stumbling block for TB control. Though conventional methods for TB detection exist; GeneXpert MTB/RIF assay represents a paradigm shift in the diagnosis of TB and MDR-TB by simultaneous detection of M.tuberculosis and rifampicin resistance bacilli. However information regarding the performance characteristics of Xpert MTB/RIF assay is scarce in Ethiopia. Objective: To evaluate the performance of Xpert MTB/RIF assay for diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis and detection of Rifampicin resistance in sputum specimens at Karamara hospital, Jigjiga. Materials and methods: A total of 227 paired expectorated sputum samples from patients with signs and symptoms of suggestive of tuberculosis at Karamara hospital during February 2014 to May 2014 were recruited by consecutive sampling method. Sputum sample was tested directly by Ziehl-Neelsen staining and Xpert MTB/RIF assay without NALC-NaOH decontamination and sputum samples were cultured for isolation and drug sensitivity testing of TB bacilli. Diagnostic performance of Xpert MTB/RIF assay and AFB smear microscopy was calculated using sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, positive and negative likelihood ratios against culture as the gold standard. Results with contaminated cultures (for both LJ and MGIT) and failed Xpert MTB/RIF were excluded from analysis. Results: Overall 25.5% (58/227) samples were positive for MTBC by MGIT and/or LJ media of which 36.2 % (21/58) and 65.5% (35/58) were positive by AFB smear microscopy and Xpert MTB/RIF respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of Xpert MTB/RIF assay were 65.5% (95% CI: 53.3-77.7%), 96.3% (95% CI: 93.4-99.2%), 86.4% (95% CI: 76.2-96.5%), and 88.6% (95% CI: 83.9-93.3%) respectively. Eighteen (31.0%, 18/58) more cases, which were smear microscopy negative, were detected by Xpert MTB/RIF assay Conclusion: Xpert MTB/RIF assay demonstrated high sensitivity in detecting MTBC in sputum specimens compared with conventional AFB smear microscopy. However, it demonstrated suboptimal sensitivity in smear negative patients compared to culture test. ▼ Gas Turbines (GTs) are used extensively in pipelines to compress gas at suitable points. The primary objective of this study is to look at CO2 return pipelines and the close coupling of the compression system with advanced prime mover cycles. Adopting a techno-economic and environmental risk analysis (TERA) frame work, this study conducts the modelling and evaluation of CO2 compression power requirements for gas turbine driven equipment (pump and compressor). The author developed and validated subroutines to implement variable stators in an in-house GT simulation code known as Variflow in order to enhance the off-design performance simulation of the code. This modification was achieved by altering the existing compressor maps and main program algorithm of the code. Economic model based on the net present value (NPV) method, CO2 compressibility factor model based on the Peng-Robinson equation of state and pipeline hydraulic analysis model based on fundamental gas flow equation were also developed to facilitate the TERA of selected GT mechanical drives in two case scenarios. These case scenarios were specifically built around Turbomatch simulated GT design and off-design performance which ensure that the CO2 is introduced into the pipeline at the supercritical pressure as well as sustain the CO2 pressure above a minimum designated pressure during transmission along an adapted real life pipeline profile. The required compression duty for the maximum and minimum CO2 throughput as well as the operation site ambient condition, guided the selection of two GTs of 33.9 MW and 9.4 MW capacities. At the site ambient condition, the off design simulations of these GTs give an output of 25.9 MW and 7.6 MW respectively. Given the assumed economic parameters over a plant life of 25 years, the NPV for deploying the 33.9 MW GT is about £13.9M while that of the 9.4 MW GT is about £1.2M. The corresponding payback periods (PBPs) were 3 and 7 years respectively. Thus, a good return on investment is achieved within reasonable risk. The sensitivity analysis results show a NPV of about £19.1M - £24.3M and about £3.1M - £4.9M for the 33.9 MW and 9.4 MW GTs respectively over a 25 - 50% fuel cost reduction. Their PBPs were 3 - 2 years and 5 - 4 years respectively. In addition, as the CO2 throughput drops, the risk becomes higher with less return on investment. In fact, when the CO2 throughput drops to a certain level, the investment becomes highly unattractive and unable to payback itself within the assumed 25 years plant life. The hydraulic analysis results for three different pipe sizes of 24, 14 and 12¾ inch diameters show an increase in pressure drop with increase in CO2 throughput and a decrease in pressure drop with increase in pipe size for a given throughput. Owing to the effect of elevation difference, the 511 km long pipeline profile gives rise to an equivalent length of 511.52 km. ▼ This thesis is about growth, and the factors influencing growth in a positive or in a negative way. Particularly this thesis elaborates on growth of a profitable brand that is part of a group; i.e. growth within an internal capital market. A company being profitable does not equate growth; short-term profit is actually higher if the growth is held limited. This since growth implies a need for more assets, profit is traded for growth. However to keep market share a division needs to identify and pursue projects with positive net present value (NPV), otherwise competitors can find these same market opportunities and take the chance to grow stronger. The data for this thesis has been gathered from annual reports and from interviews with managers having influence of decisions affecting growth and profit. Text books and published research papers have been used for the theory building. The gathered data has been analyzed using the theory and conclusions have been drawn. The DuPont identity, relating the profit margin, asset turnover and leverage to the return on equity is used for analysis. The concept of external finance needed (EFN) has also been elaborated on i.e. that it takes money to make money. Finally Higgins equation for sustainable growth ratio (SGR) based on EFN, describing the relationship between growth and profit is the cornerstone of the theory used. A company operates under several stringent restraints leading to a trade of between growth and profitability. The group studied in this thesis consists of several divisions of which some consist of several brands. While the group as a whole has a relationship between growth and profitability in line with Higgins equation the individual brand in focus has the potential to grow faster. It seems that positive NPV’s need to be left out due to a subsidizing of weaker parts of the group by better performing parts. Capital allocation within a heterogeneous company is complex; a trade off between diversification to attenuate risk and a concentration of resources where profitability is highest is made. The brand in focus of this study has a tradition of preferring high profitability before growth. Trading that high profitability to a higher growth is challenging the mindset both at group, division and brand level. Another reason for turning down positive NPV project may be the payback method being used extensively to make investment decisions, resulting in a project having a long payback period being ruled out despite having a high NPV. A way of increasing revenue growth without affecting profitability can be to providing service in conjunction with the hardware offer. Service offers can be made without heavy investments in production machinery, piggybacking on existing investments. The somewhat opaque structure of the studied group decreases the external market scrutiny and increases the likelihood of the above mentioned capital allocation behavior including subsidizing. ▼ This study estimated net irrigation benefits of irrigation development from the proposed Cable Mountain Reservoir (CMR) on the North Fork of the Red River in Southwestern Oklahoma to Tillman terrace Area (TTA) of Western Tillman County. Part of the benefits from the CMR might come from replacing the largely depleted groundwater in the TTA. The area of irrigation capability lands, and the length and route of pipelines were identified using GIS in TTA. This study also determined the cost of the pipeline and the net returns of irrigation from yield increment with the aid of the EPANET a hydrological simulation model and mathematical optimization model, respectively. The NPVs of the areas for four different designs of irrigation system for pivot irrigation was estimated at different EC levels of irrigation water and cotton prices. Total irrigable areas of 68,000 acres within 543 full and partial pivot circles were identified. The length of main, lateral, and final pipelines were 41, 133, and 151 miles, respectively. The size of main pipeline ranged from 48 to 120 inches, lateral pipeline ranged from 12 to 36 inches, and final pipes were 8 to 10 inches. Design 1A allowed all producers to irrigate simultaneously at 600 GPM. The total annual cost of the irrigation system was approximately 950 per acre. At this cost, NPV per acre was feasible for the cotton lint price of 75 cents (at an EC levels less than and equal to 2.2 mmhos cm-1) and more per pound at EC levels of 0.9, 1.5, 2.2 and 3 mmhos cm-1. Design 1B was designed to schedule the irrigation alternately to the north and south of the laterals of Design 1A irrigation system. With an approximate total cost of 830 per acre this irrigation system was feasible for cotton price of 70 cents (at EC levels less than and equal to 2.2 mmhos cm-1) and more for 0.9, 1.5, 2.2, and 3 mmhos cm-1 EC levels. Design 2 divided the irrigable acreages into two areas. With total annual cost of 825 per acre, Design 2 system was feasible at the cotton price of 70 cents (at EC levels less than and equal to 2.2 mmhos cm-1) and more for 0.9, 1.5, 2.2, and 3 mmhos cm-1 EC levels. Design 3 system divided the irrigable land into four areas to allow producers to irrigate one area at a time with 800 gpm of individual pivot demand. This design was feasible for cotton price of 65 cents (at EC levels less than and equal to 1.5 mmhos -1) and more for 0.9, 1.5, 2.2, and 3 mmhos -1 EC levels.The analysis showed that the NPV and irrigation water increased with increasing cotton price and decreased with increasing EC levels in linear pattern. The study suggests that economies can be obtained through a combination of pipe sizing and by increased cooperation or utilization of the pipeline. Para otimizar toda a operação, os engenheiros precisam lidar com muitos aspectos técnicos e restrições, como a modelagem geológica, estimativa de reservas, determinação da necessidade de blendagem, projeto das cavas ótimas e operacionais, custos operacionais, questões ambientais, entre outros. Nesse sentido, o posicionamento de infraestruturas de superfície é um dos pontos críticos dentro do planejamento de mina. Aproximar as estruturas da cava, com o intuito de reduzir custos operacionais, pode interferir em eventuais expansões da cava em novos e favoráveis cenários. Nesses casos, impactos no valor presente líquido (VPL) do projeto são inevitáveis e precisam ser tratados tecnicamente, avaliando um grande número de cenários alternativos para delinear uma estratégia que incremente a lucratividade do projeto. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar, por meio de comparações de VPL entre diferentes cenários de múltiplas restrições de superfície, sob incerteza geológica, a possibilidade de mover pilhas de estéril e outras infraestruturas de suas atuais posições e/ou definir prioridades e mensurar o impacto que cada restrição representa na lucratividade do projeto. A metodologia foi aplicada a uma mina de fosfato para ilustrar como determinar a melhor alternativa em uma perspectiva de planejamento de mina de longo prazo. Utilizando o método de cavas híbridas, aplicado ao modelo de teores simulados, foi possível identificar zonas de probabilidade de ocorrência dentro da cava matemática, o que forneceu informações cruciais para auxiliar na tomada de decisão a respeito da necessidade de relocação de estruturas.

The operation and management of mining enterprises are usually difficult and complex tasks. To optimize the entire operation the engineers must deal with several technical aspects and constraints, such as orebody modelling, reserves estimation, determination of blending necessity, optimum and operational pit designs, operational costs, environmental issues, among others. In this sense, locating surface infrastructures is one of the most critical mine planning concerns. Approximating these structures to the pit, in order to reduce the operational costs, might interfere with future pit expansions in new favorable scenarios. In such cases, impacts on project’s net present value (NPV) are inevitable and must be deal technically, evaluating several alternative scenarios to delineate a strategy to maximize profitability. The aim of this study is to evaluate, through NPV comparisons considering different scenarios with multiple constraints, under geological uncertainty, the possibility of moving waste piles and infrastructure buildings from their current position and/or defining priorities to after measuring the impact that each constraint represents on the project´s profitability. V družbi, ki se ukvarja z kmetijstvom, je bila analizirana finančna smotrnost nakupa kmetijske mehanizacije. Pri izračunu upravičenosti nakupa kmetijske mehanizacije je bila uporabljena metoda CBA (ang. ''Cost - Benefit Analysis'') analize s pripadajočimi ustreznimi finančnimi kazalniki (NSV in ISD). V nalogi je bilo predstavljeno začetno stanje družbe. Nakup sodobne kmetijske mehanizacije predstavlja predračunsko vrednost 568.650 € z DDV. Financiranje je razdeljeno na dva dela. Prvi del je pridobljen po javnem razpisu v višini 178.512 € (40 %), drugi del 295.363 € in pa vrednost DDV 94.775 € iz lastnih sredstev družbe. Bilanca uspeha je izračunana za 15 let, vrednosti so v celem obdobju pozitivne (495.572 € do 647.715 €). Izračunane vrednosti po letih so višje od začetnega deleža (60 % to je 390.138 €) vložka kmetijske družbe v nakup mehanizacije. Za obdobje 15 let je bila ocenjena NSV z diskontno stopnjo 5 %, rezultat ocene NSV pa je negativen (- 49.215 €). Pozitiven je prvič po 18 letih (leta 2024) in sicer znaša 6.112 €. Prav tako je bila ocenjena tudi za dobo vračila kredita (15 let) ISD, ki znaša 2,57 %. ISD po 18 letih znaša 5,24 %. Če bi podjetje najelo za nakup predvidene sodobne kmetijske mehanizacije kredit, bi tako potrebovalo 18 let za poplačilo le-tega. Pregled finančnega stanja družbe kaže, da je smotrneje, če družba za nakup predvidene mehanizacije uporabi lastna sredstva, ki jih ima na razpolago. V tem primeru bo družba poslovala v prihodnosti brez finančnih pritiskov in obremenitev, ki bi nastale z najemom kredita.

The financial expedience of agricultural machinery and equipment purchase was analysed in the company that deals with the agriculture. The method CBA (Cost Benefit Analaysis) was used with the relevant financial indicators (NPV and IRR). The initial state of the company was presented in this research. The purchase of modern agricultural equipment has a preliminary value of 568.650 €, including VAT. Founding sources are divided into two parts. The first part is obtained from public tender and it presents 40 % of the value, 178.512 €. The second part presents the company's own resources, 295.363 €, including VAT, 94.775 €. The balance is calculated for fifteen years. The values are positive in the whole period (from 495.572 € to 647.715 €). Calculated anual values are higer than the initial company resources, 60 % , that is 390.138 €. NPV with a discount rate of 5 % was estimated for a period of fifteen years. The assessment result is negative (- 49.215 €). In 2024, it was positive for the first time in 18 years and it comes to 6.112 €. IRR was also estimated for a period of fifteen years (credit return) and it comes to 2,57 %. After eighteen years IRR comes to 5,24 %. If the company takes a loan for the modern agricultural equipment purchase, it takes eighteen years to repay it. Glavni cilj magistrskega dela je ugotoviti, ali je investicija v predelavo HTC oglja finančno upravičena. Osrednja metoda, ki je uporabljena v raziskavi, je t.i. Cost – Benefit analiza. Parametri, ki so se ocenjevali, so neto sedanja vrednost (NSV), interna stopnja donosnosti (ISD), relativna neto sedanja vrednost in obdobje povračila investicije. Modelna ocena parametrov finančne smotrnosti investicije ob predpostavki investicijskega cikla 35 let, 11 % obrestni meri in konstantnem letnem denarnem toku (1.159.969€) kaže, da je investicija finančno upravičena. Ocena neto sedanje vrednosti je pozitivna vrednost (1.071.804 €). Interna stopnja donosnosti znaša 12,40 % in presega vrednosti diskontne stopnje. Obdobje povračila investicije je 20 let. Nadalje je bila v sklopu CBA analize izdelana tudi analiza občutljivosti in ocena varnosti investicije. Analiza občutljivosti se je izvedla z ocenami NSV, ISD, RNSV in obdobjem vračanja investicije pri različnih možnih scenarijih. Scenariji so predvidevali odklone (+/– 5 %, 10 %, 20 %) od vrednosti spremenljivke, ki je bila uporabljena pri presoji projekta. Rezultati analize scenarijev kažejo, da je projekt najbolj občutljiv na spremembo prodajne cene HTC oglja in ceno vhodne surovine. Za oceno, ali je investicija v projekt varna, smo pri analizi občutljivosti upoštevali povečanje investicijskih stroškov za 10 % in hkrati zmanjšanje pričakovanih učinkov za 10 %. Neto sedanja vrednost investicije pri oceni varnosti naložbe ima negativni predznak (–4.301.801 €). Nadalje rezultati raziskave kažejo tudi, da brez analize tveganj investicija v pridelavo HTC oglja ni varna oziroma je preveč tvegana naložba.

The main objective of the master thesis is to determine whether investing in processing HTC charcoal is financially justified. The main method used in the study is called Cost – Benefit Analysis. The parameters that were evaluated are the net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), relative net present value and return on investment period. Model assessment of financial performance parameters of the investment assuming an investment cycle of 35 years, 11% interest rate and a constant annual cash flow ( 1.159,969 €) shows that the investment is financially justified. Estimate of the net present value is positive value (1.071,804 €). Internal rate of return is 12,40% and exceeds the value of the discount rate. Return on investment period is 20 years. Furthermore, in the context of CBA analysis, a sensitivity analysis and assessment of investment safety was produced. Sensitivity analysis was carried out with estimates of NPV, IRR, RNSV and the return of investment period in different possible scenarios. Scenarios predicted deviations (+ / – 5%, 10%, 20%) of the value of the variable that was used in the assessment of the project. The results of scenario analysis show that the project is most sensitive to changes of selling prices of the HTC charcoal and price of inputs. ▼ Na presente dissertação pretende-se estudar a viabilidade económica da implementação de um sistema tecnológico, com principal objetivo a resolução dos problemas de rastreabilidade numa empresa metalomecânica e a escolha da melhor solução. A rastreabilidade permite identificar o histórico, a utilização ou a localização de um produto, ao longo de toda a cadeia de abastecimento. A informação armazenada nesse histórico dependerá do objetivo e do mercado competitivo em que a empresa se insere. Ao longo do período de estágio foi possível observar os principais problemas, como a perda de tempo na procura de peças, processo de verificação de cargas demoroso, inventário extenso, desperdício de material e erro de marcação. A melhor solução para a resolução dos problemas da empresa é a implementação de um sistema RFID, composto por tags, antenas e pórticos. A tag é colocada no material aquando da sua entrada no processo, mas só é ativa quando passa pelos pórticos colocados à entrada e à saída do processo produtivo. Os pórticos terão a função de colocarem o material no sistema. Com a dispersão das antenas, pelo armazém tornar-se-á possível saber o estado e a fase exata em que se encontra determinado material. A informação armazenada nas tags será da responsabilidade da empresa e permitirá a rastreabilidade e codificação de todas as peças desejadas. A implementação deste sistema terá um custo de 27 406.60 €, com o extra de um leitor móvel para a verificação de cargas em obra. Este investimento, não traz um retorno financeiro direto, pelo fato da poupança se focar no ganho em tempo de alguns trabalhadores (fiel de armazém e o encarregado da obra). Desta forma, decidiu-se calcular essa poupança, através do salário ilíquido de cada colaborador, e assim permitir o cálculo de alguns critérios económicos. Após a avaliação do investimento calculada, os resultados obtidos (VAL=40 977.05€; TIR= 23%; payback simples de 3.51 anos; payback atualizado de 4 anos e um ROI=149.52%) foram satisfatórios, o que permitiu concluir que este investimento seria bastante positivo para a empresa, uma vez que o retorno é a curto/médio prazo, para além das melhorias significativas em termos de processos de produção e logísticos. Namen magistrskega dela je ugotoviti, ali je investicija integriranega uplinjanja lesne biomase v lebdečem sloju finančno upravičena. Osrednja metoda za oceno je analiza stroškov in koristi oziroma CBA analiza. V magistrskem delu je predstavljena inovativna tehnologija obnovljive energije uplinjanja biomase za proizvodnjo toplotne in električne energije. Ocenjevali smo: (NSV) neto sedanjo vrednost, (ISD) interno stopnjo donosnosti, (RNSV) relativno neto sedanjo vrednost, (P) obdobje povračila investicije, (DP) diskontirano dobo povračila investicije in (SD) donosnost investicije. Modelna ocena parametrov finančne smotrnosti investicije, ob predpostavki investicijskega cikla 15-ih let in 7 % ter 5,5 % diskontni stopnji kaže, da je investicija finančno upravičena. Znesek NSV je v obeh primerih pozitiven, to pomeni, da je investicija v integrirano uplinjanje lesne biomase v lebdečem sloju finančno upravičena. NSV pri 5,5 % diskontni stopnji je za 1.929.968 € višja kot pri investiciji s 7 % diskontno stopnjo. ISD v obeh primerih presega diskontno stopnjo. ISD pri 5,5 % diskontni stopnji je za 0,96 % višja kot pri investiciji s 7 % diskontno stopnjo. Kazalnik RNSV pri 5,5 % diskontni stopnji je za 0,20 višji kot pri investiciji s 7 % diskontno stopnjo. Doba povračila investicije (P) je 6,09 let pri investiciji s 5,5 % diskontno stopnjo in 6,36 let pri investiciji s 7 % diskontno stopnjo. Diskontirana doba povračila investicije (DP) je 7,08 let pri investiciji s 5,5 % diskontno stopnjo in 7,83 let pri investiciji s 7 % diskontno stopnjo. SD pri investiciji s 5,5 % diskontno stopnjo znaša 11,40 % in 11,02 % pri investiciji s 7 % diskontno stopnjo. Analiza občutljivosti je pokazala, da je projekt zelo občutljiv na višino diskontne stopnje in spremembo oziroma povišanje stroškov poslovanja ob hkratnem zmanjšanju prihodkov od prodaje (scenarij 5). Enako velja za scenarij 6, ki pri 5,5 odstotni diskontni stopnji še prenese povečanje investicijskih stroškov za 5 %, podražitev stroškov poslovanja za 5 % in hkratno zmanjšanje prihodkov od prodaje za 5 %, pri 7 % diskontni stopnji pa investicija ni več finančno upravičena. Projekt je neupravičen tudi v primeru, da se za 20 % zmanjšajo prihodki od prodaje (scenarij 1) ali da se za več kot 25 % podražijo stroški poslovanja (scenarij 2).

The purpose of this master's thesis is to determine whether an investment in integrated biomass gasification in fluidized bed is financially justified. The main method used in the study is a cost-benefit analysis (CBA). In this master's thesis, the innovative renewable energy technology of biomass gasification for the production of thermal and electrical energy is presented. ▼ Determining which countries are the most financially attractive for businesses to build wind projects is a matter of serious discussion that lacks succinct commentary. To fill this void this paper employs an empirical study of the wind subsidy support systems used by Germany, France, Spain and Sweden. This paper is based on the premise that businesses prefer to build where they can find the highest overall remuneration for their production; recognizing also the need for stability in those payments and businesses’ strong preference for larger early returns on their investments. The paper also analyzes the results and gives recommendations on possible improvements to each country’s system and where businesses should invest.In order to reach their 20-20-20 E.U. goals (European Commission, 2010), countries are encouraging the creation of new green energy projects, and this encouragement is frequently in the form of subsidies. The subsidy types used by the countries reviewed are feed-in tariffs, premiums and a certificate quota system. Each country’s support history is detailed along with the criteria of their respective systems.The countries systems are then compared using actual income and production data for four criteria at three different production levels – 100 percent, 75 percent and 150 percent of actual – and at two different lengths of time, 7 and 20 years. The first criteria of the comparison is total income, the second for variability of payments, the third for timing of payments and the final is the stability of the system itself.The results of this research show that the German and French systems are superior at all levels for their low variability in payment prices and in making larger payments to businesses earlier. They are also generally superior at lower and actual production levels for total income amounts. However, the Spanish options are superior at high levels of production for income and have middling variability levels. The Swedish system generally has the highest levels of variability for the lowest levels of income. Only the Spanish system is considered to be unstable in its political support of subsidies. Based upon the preceding findings are given to each country to improve their relative weaknesses. Also recommendations are given to businesses based upon the quality of the locations wind resources.
