▼ Moiré interferometry is a relatively new branch of photomechanics that utilizes a diffraction grating on the specimen to determine surface displacements. To date, it has been used primarily to determine in-plane displacements of the specimen surface. The objective of this work is to demonstrate that the technique is capable of determining out-of-plane displacements as well. A high-frequency phase grating on a specimen surface is illuminated by oblique beams; two diffracted beams are recorded by holographic interferometry. If the wavefront warpages of the two diffracted beams are characterized by fringe orders, Nₐ and N_b, it is demonstrated that the in-plane displacements are proportional to Nₐ - N_b, while out-of-plane displacements are proportional to Nₐ + N_b. Initially, these subtractive and additive parameters are determined numerically, and the resulting displacements are compared to displacements measured by well-accepted prior experimental methods. Excellent agreement with these proven methods is shown. Using this remarkably simple relationship between wavefront warpages, an experimental procedure is developed which is capable of simultaneously determining the in-plane and out-of-plane displacements of a specimen surface. The method requires only one photographic exposure of the deformed specimen, with displacement information being extracted through the use of optical filtering. The fact that the information required to yield these patterns can be obtained from a single photographic recording not only makes this an experimentally simple technique to use, but provides the capability of analyzing dynamic events as well. The sensitivity of measurements made by utilizing this technique are directly proportional to the frequency of the specimen grating. Therefore, it is desirable to obtain specimen gratings with frequencies on the order of 500-2000 lines/mm ( 12, 700 - 50,800 lines/in.). A technique is developed whereby high frequency moire gratings with highly reflective surfaces can be transferred to workpieces made from most engineering materials. Specimen gratings with frequencies as high as 2000 lines/mm (50,800 lines/in.) and exhibiting 10 percent diffraction efficiency in the first diffraction order have been applied to numerous specimens using simple laboratory techniques.

▼ Due to the rapid expansion of applications of composite materials, investigations of their properties have greatly increased. Since theoretical and numerical methods have many limitations for anisotropic materials, experimental methods are sometimes the only way to answer the questions. It has been proved that moire interferometry is a powerful technique in the study of composite materials. The high sensitivity and resolution of a measurement technique is the key to determining the properties of a material which has a fine and complicated structure such as fiber reinforced composite laminates. In this paper, a carrier fringe method is introduced to increase the resolution of the fringe gradient in the moire technique. The ability of measurement is extended to the micromechanics region. High strain concentrations and the dramatic displacement variations can be determined by measuring the slopes of carrier fringes. Strain distributions across the plies (with the thickness of 125 μm) in graphite/epoxy composites and strain concentrations in the resin-rich zones (with the thickness of 10 μm) between neighboring plies are revealed by the carrier fringe technique. Three experiments are presented to show the effectiveness of the application of carrier fringes to resolve fringe gradients and obtain strains. The current moire technique is limited to the optical laboratory because it is extremely sensitive to the disturbance of the environment. A vibration with magnitude of 0.2 μm can completely wash out the contrast of a moire fringe pattern. The study has been done in moving moire interferometry off the optical table. Vibration insensitive moire systems are investigated to extend the moire technique to the tests of large structures and using testing machines for loading. Vibration problems are discussed and the new ideas for eliminating vibration effects are presented. Six representative schemes are analyzed and three of these systems are built to perform experiments in rough environments such as on a hydraulic testing machine. The results show the great success of these new systems.

▼ Transient stability is the ability of the power system to maintain synchronism when subjected to a severe transient disturbance such as transmission line shortage, loss of a transmission line, loss of generation, or loss of a large load. Loss of synchronism due to transient instability is very dangerous because it can lead to a widespread power outage, and moreover it is extremely fast to manifest and affect the system, usually within 2 to 3 seconds of the initial disturbance. As a result, the best approach to deal with transient instability is to detect and prevent it before it actually happens. The BCU ( Boundary of stability region based Controlling Unstable equilibrium point) method for direct analysis of power system transient st ability prevails over existing assessment methods due to (1) its fast computational speed, (2) its ability to provide conservative index for degree of stability, and (3) its ability to provide useful information regarding how to derive enhancement control actions. In this thesis work, we expand the applicability of the BCU method to a wider range of power system applications and models, by providing numerical illustrations, conducting critical evaluations, and developing new solution methods. We propose new BCU-based methods for enhancing power system transient stability based on the TSCOPF (transient stability constrained optimal power flow) and direct generation rescheduling frameworks. Our methods combine the advantages of the traditional transient stability enhancement/preventive control schemes with that of the dynamic and geometric characteristics of the stability regions of the corresponding power system transient stability model. Our methods were tested on several practical power systems with large contingency lists and the advantages of using this novel framework are clearly evident. This framework not only significantly improves the computational aspects of the algorithm (i.e. speed, and the ability to handle large -scale power systems with large contingency lists), but also enhances the overall accuracy in enforcing transient sta bility within the methods. Numerical studies of the stability regions for various power system models are also conducted to illustrate the CUEP method for DAE system, and to e valuate several CUEP-based direct methods in approximating relevant stability boundaries. ▼ Constructed wetland (CW) is one of the ecological engineering methods. Currently, using the CW systems to treat a variety of wastewater has been extensively applied in many countries. In this study, the Old Rail Bridge Constructed Wetland was investigated and evaluated its effects on polluted river water quality improvement. Results show that the measured flow rates and hydraulic retention time (HRT) for Systems A and B were 12,091 and 4,703 m3/day, and 6.0 and 0.7 d, respectively. The average removal efficiency for System A ranged from 37-87% for biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), 16-89% for chemical oxygen demand (COD), 43-72% for ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), 54-80 % for total nitrogen (TN), 24-98% for total phosphorus (TP), and 0-99% for total coliform (TC). Higher removal efficiency for suspended solids (SS), were also observed for System A. The average removal efficiency for System B ranged from 10-68% for total nitrogen (TN), 50-83% for total phosphorus (TP), and 42-93% for total coliform (TC). However, removal efficiencies for other pollutants were unstable. Results from the effluent probability method (EPM) evaluation indicate that the removal efficiency increased with the increase in influent pollutant concentration in System A. Results from the carbon sequestration evaluation show that the wetland carbon sequestration capacity for System B had a net primary production of 571 g C/m2/yr. The average annual total organic carbon (TOC) generation was estimated to be 26 g C/m2/yr for System B. The estimated annual carbon sequestration capacity was about 9 (t C/yr) for system B, which was higher than the estimated annual reduction of approximately 2.5 (t C/yr) from other studies. The experience obtained from this project will be helpful in designing similar wetland systems for water quality improvement and carbon sequestration. ▼ In this dissertation one family of second-order and two families of higher-order time integration algorithms are newly developed. For the development of a new family of second-order time integration algorithms, the original equation of structural dynamics is rewritten as two first order differential equations and one algebraic equation. These equations are called mixed formulations, because they include three different kinds of dependent variables (i.e., the displacement, velocity, and acceleration vectors). Equal linear (for the first sub-step) and quadratic (for the second sub-step) Lagrange type interpolation functions in time are used to approximate all three variables involved in the mixed formulations, then the time finite element method and the collocation method are applied to the velocity-displacement and velocity-acceleration relations of the mixed formulations to obtain one- and two-step time integration schemes, respectively. Newly developed one- and two-step time integration schemes are combined as one complete algorithm to achieve enhanced computational features. Two collocation parameters, which are included in the complete algorithm, are optimized and restated in terms of the spectral radius in the high frequency limit (also called the ultimate spectral radius) for the practical control of algorithmic dissipation. Both linear and nonlinear numerical examples are analyzed by using the new algorithm to demonstrate enhanced performance of it. The newly developed second-order algorithm can include the Baig and Bathe method and the non-dissipative case as special cases of its family. For the development of the first family of higher-order time integration algorithms, the displacement vector is approximated over the time interval by using the Hermite interpolation functions in time. The residual vector is defined by substituting the approximated displacement vector into the equation of structural dynamics. The modified weighted residual method is applied to the residual vector. The weight parameters are used to restate the integral forms of the weighted residual statements as algebraic forms, then these parameters are optimized by using the single-degree-of- freedom problem and its exact solution to achieve improved accuracy and unconditional stability. Numerical examples are used to verify performances of the new algorithms. For the development of the second family of implicit higher-order time integration algorithms, the mixed formulations that include three time dependent variables (i.e., the displacement, velocity and acceleration vectors) are used. The equal degree Lagrange type interpolation functions in time are used to approximate the dependent variables involved in the mixed formulations, and the time finite element method and the modified weighted residual method are applied to the velocity-displacement and velocity-acceleration relations of the mixed formulations. Weight parameters are used and optimized to achieve preferable attributes of time integration algorithms. ▼ The focus of the study was to explore the experiences of deaf learners in a special residential school for the deaf in the Lubombo region in the eastern part of Swaziland. The study adopted a narrative inquiry approach, with a total of six participants, comprising of 3 female and 3 male deaf learners. The participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data generation of the study used semi-structured interviews for individual and focus group interviews. The Photovoice method was also used as a means to see through the eyes of the participants. In addition, a participatory research tool was employed to generate discussions in both individual and focus group to explore with the participants their experiences at the schooling context. Triangulation techniques were also adopted. Findings of the study revealed that the deaf learners’ language [sign language] and their culture is not recognized. Some teachers and house parents hardly associate or socialize with deaf children. They have a negative attitude towards the deaf learners. The findings of the study also revealed that the dynamics affecting deaf learners within the residential school context includes disconnect between deaf learners and their parents or care givers; stigmatization; involvement in extracurricular activities such as sports and tours; socializing of deaf learners with peers; and power dynamics affect the decisions such as the curriculum and assessment of deaf learners. The findings further revealed that deaf learners’ education does not receive proper attention in Swaziland. Nothing much is being done in the education system or structure to cater for the deaf learners, but rather continued to cater to hearing learners. This includes the limited use of Sign Language, curriculum and the assessment of the deaf learners. Finally, the findings also revealed that support mechanism for deaf learners could include assistance from house parents in writing assignments. Teachers in the school for the deaf must use Sign Language to teach deaf learners. The people who are responsible for writing the curriculum, examination and other aspects affecting the education of the deaf need to do so within the scope of the deaf culture. In conclusion, the deaf learners in Swaziland do not receive proper attention and provision such as deaf culture, language, relevant personnel, socialization, curriculum and examination. These findings implies that there is a need for Government Ministries, organizations and individuals working with deaf children to develop methods and strategies ensuring that deaf learners are a part of decision making and that their language and identities are valued. Parents for the deaf learners should be engaged as key stakeholders in looking at the future careers and opportunities of their children. Teachers need to dedicate their time and energy to developing the curriculum to enhance the learning for deaf learners. La thèse que nous essayerons d’établir dans cette étude est la suivante : Levinas a assez profondément modifié les méthodes phénoménologiques en donnant les termes abstraits une mise en chaque fois scène concrète. Grâce à cette nouvelle méthode phénoménologique que l’on a appelé concrétisation, la méthode et le propos de la philosophie se croisent chez les pensées éthiques de Levinas. À partir de cette nouvelle conception de la méthode et la relation de méthode et de propos de la philosophie, nous voudrions aussi examiner les thèmes principaux tels que l’éthique, l’autre et la transcendance de la phénoménologie éthique de Levinas. Cette étude est donc à la fois un effort de mettre en lumière cette méthode, et d’examiner dans quel sens dans les thèmes de recherches phénoménologiques tels que l’éthique (premier chapitre), l’autre(deuxième chapitre) et la transcendance(quatrième chapitre), cette nouvelle conception de méthode a concrètement croisé avec le propos philosophique même et a abouti à un processus de désubstantialisation (dénucléation, dénoyautage) qui a renouvelé d’une façon absolument radicale notre conception des plupart des concepts phénoménologiques, surtout les concepts de l’éthique, de l’autre, de la transcendance, de Dieu, et finalement de la subjectivité même. Dans le premier chapitre de notre étude, nous nous intéresserons dans l’examen du problème de l’éthique comme le climat dans lequel toute l’entreprise levinassienne s’est développée. Le deuxième chapitre prendra pour tâche de déterminer l’intrigue même dans laquelle l’assujetti est toujours déjà assujetti.Le troisième chapitre concernera les méthodes phénoménologiques de Levinas : l’analyse intentionnelle, la réduction éthique et la méthode de concrétisation. Enfin, le quatrième chapitre sera consacré à la transcendance. La transcendance ici cherché n’est plus un Dieu-substance (en tant que) résidant dans le monde et dans les arrière-mondes, c’est la transition du sujet souverain et serein armé de ce regard objectivant et du sujet s’extasiant dans et en le monde à l’assujetti, à l’à-Dieu.

The thesis that we try to establish in this study is the following: Levinas has quite profoundly modified the phenomenological methods by giving the abstract terms every time a concrete setting. Thanks to this new phenomenological method which has been called concretization, the method and the purpose of philosophy intersect in the ethical thoughts of Levinas. ▼ As the downward movement in the economy, many corporations still remains high expense on the debit. In order to lower the personnel expenses, technically, most corporations will directly lay off employees, or compress the working requisite, such as: unpaid leave, or deduction on the salary. After the downsize method has been conducted, there are some negative impacts on the employees (both to lay off and the remaining employee), this research will probe into the impact on the insecurity and commitment to the organization on remaining employees after the conduction of the downsizing method. According to the research result, it concluded the impacts from the downsizing method on increasing the insecurity at work, it will also affects remaining employeesâ trust to the company and further diminish the commitment to the organization. This research has examined the downsized corporationsâ remaining employees (to both general and managerial position employees) during July 2008 to February 2009 on the degree of insecurity and commitment to the organization. According to the examined result, this research has the following conclusion: 1.The downsizing methodâs actual impact on remaining employeeâs insecurity at work will be varied by the procedure, so the hypothesis is not approved. 2.The hypothesis on the remaining employeesâ insecurity at work has the negative impact on commitment to the organization, disapproved. 3.The hypothesis on downsizing by lay off and unpaid leave has the negative impact on commitment to the organization, approved; managerial and non-managerial position employee has the negative impact on the commitment to the organization, disapproved. 4.Insecurity from the downsizing method has a moderate effect on commitment to the organization; nevertheless, it canât approve the moderate impact on the insecurity at work from the downsizing method, so the result is insignificant. The underlying argument in this thesis is that the conditions and the reasons for delegating political tasks to the European Commission are the factors leading to the different usage of scientific knowledge (technical-instrumental, substantiating and legitimising). The researcher argues that the logic of delegation (efficiency vs. credibility) and the indirect control mechanisms (actors and institutions involved: third parties vs. scientists; one DG vs. several DGs) shape the usage of scientific knowledge by the European Commission. As this paper is the first attempt to test these theoretical explanations of scientific knowledge usage empirically, multiple sources of evidence (primary documents, questionnaire, and interviews) were used to increase the validity and credibility of the research. The conclusion of this study is based on data collected from a survey and face-to-face interviews with the scientists and academics who have assisted the European Commission in the preparation of a legislative proposal or policy initiative. Furthermore, the propositions about a causal relationship between the variables were tested using the most similar systems design. The study concludes that the indirect control mechanisms (fire-alarm oversights) have an effect on how scientific knowledge is used by the European Commission. The indirect control mechanisms the inclusion/exclusion of third parties or the inclusion/exclusion of competing institutional actors shape the way scientific knowledge is used in the preparation of a legislative proposal. However, the explanation based on the logic of delegation appeared not to have an effect. That is, there is no difference in how scientific knowledge is used depending on whether the principals delegate political powers to the European Commission either to reduce decision making costs or to enhance the credibility of policy commitment. Based on these conclusions the researcher of this study proposes to concentrate on the indirect control mechanisms (fire-alarm oversights) in the further research in order to provide sound evidence about the causal relationship between the indirect control mechanisms and the usage of scientific knowledge utilisation. ▼ For over thirty years now, reclamations of historical women’s philosophical writing have provided us with more access to the work of women who have largely not been represented in philosophical history. Yet, within the field of reclamation, the mechanisms of women’s exclusion from philosophy have not been sufficiently theorized. Without that theorization, I argue, reclamation risks contributing to the exclusion of women from philosophy. Reclamation must begin its work with the question of exclusion. In this dissertation, I show how that can be done with the work of three thinkers of women’s exclusion, Luce Irigaray, Genevieve Lloyd, and Michèle Le Doeuff. I use their theories to generate models of engaging women’s writing that transform philosophical practice to overcome its constitution through the exclusion of women. Then, I use the perspective gained on exclusion to engage the Seneca Falls Declaration and Sojourner Truth’s speech at the 1851 Ohio Women’s Rights Convention. For Irigaray, the logic of discourse makes it impossible for feminine subjectivity to speak. Yet, the logic of discourse can be changed, and Irigaray shows how attention to women’s writing can be a crucial strategy for transforming it. With Lloyd’s approach, women’s writing cannot enter philosophical history without significant revision of the concept of reason. Lloyd offers a means of reconceptualizing reason through historical critique. For Le Doeuff, women’s writing did make transformative demands, and offer alternatives in light of them, but we are unlikely to know that history. We must now imagine our way into that lost history, and Le Doeuff offers a means for doing so. By comparing the advantages, limitations, and potential collaboration of these approaches, both in abstract analysis and through concrete engagement with the Seneca Falls Declaration and Truth’s speech, my intent is not to declare one method the winner, but to help elucidate how the reclamation of women’s writing can proceed. Through this comparative work, however, I also hope to show the stakes of how reclamation is approached. Although I do not aim to provide a single answer, I hope to show the urgency of the question: how should we reclaim women’s writing? ▼ Abstract At the geographical center of the Middle Kingdom, Henan plays the most important role in imperial China, politically as well as culturally. Not seen elsewhere, Henan boasts two capitals, Luoyang and Kaifeng – a prize that ancient politicians all wish to earn, as is captured in the old Chinese saw: jockey for central plain. Linguistically speaking, Henan dialect must have served as the koine in ancient China for a very long period of time. But when it comes to Chinese dialectology, Henan remains largely opaque, as compared to the neighboring Shanxi and Shandong provinces. Blanket dialect investigation was launched in the late 1950s and early 1960s, but as it stands, there remain a lot of blank spots that require to be further studied, especially in linguistic terms. The aim of the present thesis is two-fold: dialect geography and phonological process. In the former category, a total of 129 dialects representing all localities of the province are placed under comparison: Jin dialects in the north and Mandarin dialects in the south. The Jin dialects spoken in Henan Province are in many ways more conservative than those found in the heartland, central Shanxi. The Mandarin dialects can be further divided into several groups, with the southern groups neighboring with Jianghuai dialects most outlandish. Another peculiar feature is found in the northwest, which shows greater similarity with neighboring provinces. The rest of Mandarin dialects spoken in Henan show a number of commonalities, though not uniform. In the area of phonological process, all syllable elements are considered. More emphasis is placed on retroflexion (Chinese ruki-rule), nasalization, loss of the medial -u-, all hot spots of late in Chinese dialectology. In addition to the big pictures portrayed by renown scholars, efforts are made to address the going part of the story, that is, de-retroflexion, de-nasalization. As a rule of thumb, the principle of "first come, first go" can be held as valid, though conditioned change needs also to be taken into account in some cases, especially in the de-nasalization process, which has eluded experts in this field, an area the study of Henan dialects can help shed light . Due to geographical proximity and historical connection, Beijing dialect in many respects shows influence from Henan, or more precisely, a direct inheritance from the early standard koine spoken in the two imperial capitals in Henan. Комбинаторна природа проблема поремећаја у одвијању планираних транспортних активности, као и велике димензије транспортних мрежа условили су да се назначени проблеми решавају метахеуристиком Оптимизација колонијом пчела. Од начина доделе паркинг позиција авионима на већим аеродромима, зависе како трошкови авио компанија, тако и квалитет услуга у ваздушном саобраћају. У дисертацији је разматран проблем додељивања паркинг позиција авионима у случајевима кашњења појединих летова. У ситуацијама када долази до кашњења није могуће опслужити авионе на унапред предвиђеним паркинг позицијама. У дисертацији је развијен модел који одређује нови план опслуживања авиона. Посебно су разматрани случајеви када постоји сарадња међу авио компанијама при коришћењу паркинг позиција. Развијени модели су тестирани на примеру А терминала аеродрома у Денверу. Због отказа возила из техничких разлога у јавном градском превозу, диспечери често морају, да на одређеним линијама, обављају саобраћај са бројем возила који је мањи од планираног. У зависности од броја возила која су отказала, може доћи до значајног пада квалитета услуга које се пружају путницима. Ублажавање насталих поремећаја у извршавању планираног реда вожње могуће је постићи: 1) одређивањем новог скупа линија на којима се одвија саобраћај, 2) прерасподелом расположивих возила на већ постојеће линије и 3) прерасподелом 2 расположивих возила и модификовањем постојећих линија. У докторској дисертацији су развијени модели који омогућавају ублажавање последица поремећаја насталих недостатком планираног броја возила. Развијени модели омогућавају пројектовање нове мреже линија и/или прерасподелу расположивих аутобуса по линијама јавног превоза. Кроз развијене моделе се тежило минимизацији броја неопслужених путника, максимизацији нивоа комфора на линијама, минимизацији укупног времена путовања, минимизацији укупног броја преседања путника, итд. У дисертацији су разматрани и проблеми поремећаја планираних активности у процесу дистрибуције робе. Компаније које се баве дистрибуцијом робе најчешће дефинишу дневне руте возила којих се придржавају током дужег временског периода. Поремећаји често настају у случајевима када поједини корисници испоставе захтеве за количинама робе које су значајно веће од уобичајених. У оваквим ситуацијама укупна потражња дуж једне или више рута превазилази носивости возила, тако да је потребно пројектовати нови скуп рута возила. Архитектура и урбанизам - Историја, теорија и естетика архитектуре и визуелних уметности и обнова градитељског наслеђа / Architecture and urban planning - History, theory and aesthetics of architecture and visual arts and preservation of architectural heritage

Социјалистички реализам се најчешће интерпретира као наметнута доктрина чије се репресивне одлике траже по форми, углавном у односу на нешто друго: у опозицији на модернизам, као повратак стилова 19. века, као протопостмодернизам у коме архитектонски елементи „говоре“ о репресивности режима, или се пак од потраге одустаје и констатује монструозна еклектична мешавина нејасних естетских начела. Истраживања овог правца у уметности Југославије додатно су одређена стигмом југословенско-совјетског сукоба, и по правилу се одликују тражењем југословенског „трећег“ пута, то јест, истицањем разлика у односу на совјетску праксу и проналажењем отклона од наводног соцреалистичког естетског шаблона за који се ни у совјетском контексту није знало шта тачно представља, све полазно са тезом да је укинут 1948. године, иако је тек тада проглашен са партијске говорнице. У овом раду се полази од става совјетских теоретичара: да социјалистички реализам није био стил него метод уметничке производње, те да га као таквог и не треба разматрати по форми. Одлике датог метода нису наиме неопходно долазиле из домена уметности - вишедеценијску изградњу власти Јосифа Стаљина обележило је подвођење свих друштвених сегмената под окриље државе, односно, тотализација друштва интегрисањем политичког интереса у све, од економије до приватног живота. Промена политичких стратегија је, самим тим, и заиста могла да налази свој одраз у свакој па и у уметничкој пракси, која је заузврат, као део тоталног механизма, разрадом партијских иницијатива у широком кругу стручне јавности једнако учествовала у конструисању политичког система. До дијалектичке повезаности политике и уметности није се стигло декретом – социјалистички реализам (1934) и теорија одраза Тодора Павлова (1936) били су накнадна експликација датог стања, што треба узети у обзир и када се траже разлике у односу на случај Југославије. Покушај да се читаво југословенско друштво постави на нове социјалистичке основе није се могао спровести применом него планским и систематским увођењем совјетског економског и културног модела, у односу на конкретне историјске, економске, политичке и културолошке услове. Како је увођење социјалистичког реализма ту било непосредно везано са интересима Комунистичке партије Југославије, која га је прво пропагирала а онда по промени спољнополитичких околности и укинула, у раду се анализира развојни пут спреге политике и уметности која је у успостављана по совјетском узору: од предратних расправа на уметничкој левици, преко припреме и iv спровођења Петогодишњег плана после Другог светског рата, до одрицања од совјетског модела по обнављању веза са Западом 1950. године. У томе се уместо по форми и констатовања репресије над уметницима, па тиме и њихове невиности пред датим системом, социјалистички реализам разматра…

Bakgrund: Antalet personer som lever med en demenssjukdom i Sverige är uppskattningsvis mellan 110 000 till 170 000. Den verbala och ickeverbala kommunikationen är betydelsefull för att möta denna grupp av personer i samspelet och i vårdandet. Svårigheter att förstå och tolka personen med demenssjukdomen komplicerar omvårdnadssituationen vilket gör att kommunikationen blir till en utmaning för vårdaren. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva vårdares kommunikation med personer med demenssjukdom. Metod: En litteraturöversikt genomfördes där åtta artiklar söktes fram genom att använda kombinerade sökord. Analysen genomfördes med hjälp av Fribergs metodbeskrivning över analys vid litteraturöversikt där fokus låg på att skapa en översikt över den aktuella befintliga forskningen. Resultat: I litteraturöversikten identifierades tre teman: Kommunikationens betydelse i omvårdnadssituationen berörde hur verbal och icke verbal kommunikation ökade förståelsen för personen, Kommunikationens betydelse i bekräftande omvårdnad berörde hur vårdarens följsamhet för personens känsla av verklighet präglade omvårdnadssituationen och Kommunikationens betydelse för det relationsskapande vårdandet berörde hur individuellt anpassad omvårdnad påverkade samspelet med personen. Diskussion: Diskussionen fördjupade sig kring ämnena Relationens betydelse i vårdandet, vårdares kompetens och kunskap och kommunikationsstrategier som en omvårdnadsåtgärd, samt återkopplade till Feils teori om validationsmetoden och det vårdvetenskapliga konsensusbegreppet vårdande.

Background: The number of persons with dementia disease in Sweden is approximately between being around 110 000 – 170 000. The verbal and non-verbal communication is important to meet this group of people while interacting and caring for this group. Difficulties in understanding and interpreting persons with dementia complicate the care situation, which means that communication becomes a challenge for the caregiver. Aim: The objective was to describe carers’ communication with persons with dementia disease. Method: A literature review was conducted in which eight articles were sought through the use of combined keywords such as carer, communication and dementia. The analysis was conducted using the method of literature reviews described by Friberg which focused on creating an overall summarization of the existing research. Results: The literature review identified three different main themes: The importance of communication that involves verbal and nonverbal communication and its effects in the interaction with the person. The importance of communication in confirming nursing involves how the effect of knowledge of the person’s lifeworld characterized nursing situations. Mandometermetoden hjälper personer med ätstörningar genom att med träning lära dem ätapå ”rätt” sätt med en produkt som kallas Mandometer®. Detta sker genom att användarna viadisplayen på Mandometers® handdator får återkoppling på om de äter för fort eller förlångsamt under måltiden. Mando Group AB, företaget som utvecklat Mandometermetoden,har även tagit fram ett datorprogram som fungerar som en simulering av en måltid medMandometer®. Syftet med det här arbetet var att undersöka om träning med denna simuleringskulle kunna ge samma effekt som träning med Mandometer®. Genom att låta en gruppfriska testpersoner träna med simuleringen under tre veckor erhölls ett resultat som tydligtvisade att testpersonerna ändrat sitt ätbeteende i önskad riktning. Resultatet visar att det finnsen möjlighet att i framtiden lägga till träning med simuleringen som en del avMandometermetoden förutsatt att utökade tester samt utveckling av programmet förstgenomförs.För att förbättra Mandometer® ytterligare har dessutom en ny version tagits fram därhanddatorn ersatts med en mobil och dess funktioner med en applikation. Applikationensfunktionalitet och användarvänlighet testades bland annat med metoden cognitivewalkthrough vilken visade att applikationen generellt höll en hög standard. Med någrajusteringar på sidorna där användarvänligheten var låg bör applikationen kunna ersättaden nuvarande versionen av Mandometer® i framtiden.

The Mandometer® Method helps people with eating disorders by teaching them how to eat ina ”correct” way by training with a product called Mandometer®. The users learn the correcteating behavior by receiving feedback from the display on the Mandometer® handheldcomputer on whether they eat too fast or too slow during the meal. Mando Group AB, thecompany which has developed the Mandometer® Method, has also created a computerprogram that works as a simulation of a meal with the Mandometer®. The purpose of thisstudy was to examine if training with the simulation could give the same effect as trainingwith Mandometer®. By letting a group of healthy testpersons practice with the simulationduring three weeks a result was given which clearly showed that the eating behavior of thetest persons had changed in the desired direction. The result indicates that there is a possibilityto add the simulation to the Mandometer® Method in the future. However, more testing anddeveloping of the program is first required.To improve Mandometer® further, a new version of the product has been developed wherethe handheld computer has been replaced by a cellphone and its functions by anapplication. The functionality and usability of the application was tested with the methodcognitive walkthrough, which showed that most of the pages of the application maintaineda high standard. With some adjustment of the pages where the usability was low, theapplication should be able to replace the old version of Mandometer® in the future.
