A presente dissertação, Horizontes éticos: o cuidado como possibilidade de ser-no-mundo, tem o objetivo de refletir e estabelecer exemplificações sobre a noção de cuidado em Heidegger. O cuidado a ser interpretado parte de uma perspectiva da analítica existencial nos níveis, ôntico e ontológico, procurando construir horizontes éticos, através do método hermenêutico. A interpretação do cuidado tem como base teórica as obras de Heidegger: Ser e tempo e Carta sobre o humanismo. Ressaltase que, isso não significa que outras obras de Heidegger não sejam utilizadas no decorrer destas reflexões; apenas salientaremos a ênfase argumentativa em torno das duas citadas. A base argumentativa surge da seguinte indagação: Existe a possibilidade de averiguações de horizontes éticos em suas reflexões acerca do ser? Parti-se da hipótese de que são possíveis, por meio de estudos já existentes acerca da temática. Diante da característica marcante das obras de Heidegger, desvendarem questionamentos referentes ao ser e a crítica à sociedade do seu tempo no âmbito de seu modo de ser. Este trabalho dissertativo busca também estabelecer a aplicabilidade de suas teorizações no contexto da sociedade contemporânea, em que a ascensão da ciência compartimental, ainda é paradigma dominante. Nesta contextualização, quer-se demonstrar a importância das reflexões do pensador no âmbito da natureza, estabelecendo um dialogismo interdisciplinar entre os saberes humano, prático e teórico, pois Heidegger percebeu que a falta de cuidado foi um estigma da sociedade, em que ele viveu, no século XX, em que a guerra e ascensão das ciências técnicas eram os paradigmas dominantes. Diante do fato de que algumas constatações, verificadas pelo pensador, no século XX, acerca da sociedade tecnológica, ainda estarem presentes nos dias de hoje, percebe-se a importância de suas reflexões para um convívio harmônico, afetivo e cooperativo em sociedade.

This entitled dissertation, Ethics horizons: the care as the possibility of being- in- the world, aims to reflect and establish exemplifications on the notion of care in Heidegger. The care will be interpreted from the perspective of the existential analytic levels, ontic and ontological, seeking to build ethical horizons through hermeneutic method. The interpretation of care is based on the theoretical ideias of Heidegger: Being and Time and the Letter about Humanism. We emphasize that it does not mean that other Heidegger´s ideas are not used in the course of these reflections, we only highlight the argumentative enphasis around the two mentioned ideias. The basis of argument arises from the following question: Is there the possibility to investigate the ethical horizons in your reflections about being? We started from the hypothesis that it is possible through existing studies about the theme. Given the striking feature of the Heidegger´s ideas, questions relating to unravel and be critical to society of their time within their way of being. O estudo desenvolvido nesta tese teve por intenção investigar a relação entre a questão da arte e a história do ser, tal como esta irá progressivamente se construir na obra de Martin Heidegger, sobretudo a partir de meados da década de 1930. Com isso, pretendeu-se identificar e destacar o papel fundamental que a abordagem desta questão deteve para a chamada viragem (Kehre) e os rumos posteriores da obra deste filósofo, conduzindo seu pensamento para além dos limites da analítica existencial empreendida em Ser e Tempo (1927) e em direção à construção da chamada "história do ser" e à questão do acabamento da metafísica como niilismo, na última fase de seu pensamento e em obras como o Beiträge zur Philosofie (1938). Para tal, partimos da investigação do ensaio A origem da obra de arte, publicado em meados da década de 1930, devido ao caráter central (não apenas em sentido cronológico) que esse texto ocupa para a abordagem do problema, posto nele Heidegger empreender a revisão de conceitos como Zuhandenheit e Vorhandenheit, de modo a assim abrir lugar, em sua ontologia, para este ente que a obra de arte é, com isso permitindo que o acontecimento do ser pudesse vir a ser pensando em novas bases e em perspectiva histórico-hermenêutica.

The study developed in this thesis investigates the relationship between the question of art and the "history of Being", as it will progressively be built on the work of Martin Heidegger, especially after the works from the mid- 1930s. Thus, we sought to identify and highlight the key role that the work of art has to the so-called "turn" that happened in his thinking, leading his work beyond the limits of the existential analysis undertaken in Being and Time (1927) and towards the construction of a "history of Being", the last phase of his thought, developed in works as Beiträge zur Philosofie (1938). In order to accomplish this, the investigation was started at the book The origin of work of art (1935), due to the main role (not only in a chronological sense) that this text has to the problem, since in it Heidegger undertakes the review of concepts as Zuhandenheit and Vorhandenheit, making room in his ontology for a work of art, thus allowing the Being to be thought in a new historical-hermeneutic basis.

▼ The advocacy of a high birth rate is an ideology called natalism. In the USA since 1985 some Protestants have used Old Testament verses to support natalist arguments. This thesis argues that natalism is inappropriate as a Christian application of Scripture, especially since rich nations’ populations’ total footprint is detrimental to biodiversity and to poor nations’ welfare. The methodology is analysis of natalist writings, investigation of possible historical roots, and then evaluation of natalist interpretation from three perspectives: the ancient Near Eastern OT context, patristic Christian tradition, and contemporary ecological concerns. The analysis and historical investigation consists of two chapters. Chapter 2 considers wider natalism, modern secular and religious varieties, and the cultural context of US Evangelicalism. Through textual analysis of biblical reception in recent natalist writings, it identifies the verses cited and common interpretative arguments. Chapter 3 asks whether this natalism has roots in historic Protestantism. It investigates the claim made by some natalist advocates that Martin Luther in the 16th century expounded similar ideas about fecundity. The evaluation consists of three chapters. Chapter 4 explores the ancient Near Eastern cultural context, and Old Testament ideas about fecundity’s role in God’s project of salvation. Ventures by biblical scholars into contemporary application of the verses in question are critiqued. Chapter 5 considers Augustine’s comments on human fruitfulness in the Bible and his thinking on fecundity. Using ressourcement from this representative of patristic tradition, Augustine’s reception is compared with natalism. Chapter 6 explains an ecological hermeneutic which brings biblical and classic Christian biblical reception into conversation with contemporary concerns. My reception of the verses uses a hermeneutic lens derived from Genesis 1, and gives priority to the contextual issues of biodiversity and the un/sustainability of the ecological footprints of overpopulated rich nations. The thesis is the first to offer systematic analysis of natalist biblical reception, and focuses on the neglected majority of natalists which accepts family planning. It highlights exegetical arguments which are then compared with Luther’s writings, tested against plausible meanings of the fruitful verses, and tested against Augustine and patristic tradition. Previous research on ecologically responsible interpretation of these verses and on Christian thinking about human fecundity and overpopulation is updated and extended in this dissertation.

In this dissertation is intended to present some aspects about the origin and the unfolding on the question of technique in Martin Heideggers philosophy. The development of the dissertation begins by presenting the background on the case of technique: the criticism to the traditional metaphysics as explained in Being and Time and the criticism about the modern science as it has been showed in Contributions to Philosophy: about the happening in order to understand the essential view of the question about the technique in the Philosophers thought. It goes on demonstrating how much and how Heideggers ideas, already outlined in his writings on the second half of the thirties, have a certain basis in Ernest Jüngers ideas. Next, the text explains the Heideggerian understanding in the point of view of the essence of the modern technique as a non-personal device that leads everything away (Gestells notion). At last, it is rendered evident the alternative that has been suggested by Heidegger in relation to the risks of the modern technique, rescueing the meaning of the concepts of physis and techne, as well as the contribution of the poetical language in order to avoid the risks of the technique and to remain in what is preserved

Nesta dissertação, queremos apresentar alguns aspectos quanto à origem e ao desdobramento da questão da técnica na filosofia de Martin Heidegger. O caminho traçado pela dissertação inicia apresentando o pano de fundo da questão da técnica: a crítica à metafísica tradicional explicitada em Ser e tempo, e a crítica acerca da ciência moderna presente nas Contribuições à filosofia: acerca do acontecimento, a fim de compreender o panorama essencial do problema da técnica no pensamento do Filósofo. Segue mostrando o quanto e como o seu pensamento, já esboçado em seus escritos da segunda metade da década de 30, tem um certo apoio no pensamento de Ernest Jünger. Em seguida, o texto elucida a compreensão heideggeriana a respeito da essência da técnica moderna enquanto composição que tudo arrasta (a noção de Gestell). Een fusie is een (ingrijpend) veranderingsproces, bijvoorbeeld op het punt van organisatiecultuur: twee op zich zelfstaande culturen worden in feite samengevoegd en hoe gaat het dan verder? De actuele organisatiecultuur van het Trajectum College staat centraal in dit onderzoek, welke onderzocht wordt middels de inzichten uit de theorie van Joanne Martin. Zij stelt in het boek 'Cultures in organizations, three perspectives' drie complementaire perspectieven centraal van waaruit een organisatiecultuur bestudeerd kan worden. Het gaat om (1) het integratieperspectief, waarbij de nadruk ligt op het gegeven dat alle medewerkers overeenstemming hebben bereikt over de organisatiecultuur; (2) het differentiatieperspectief, welke gekenmerkt wordt door het bestaan van subculturen binnen de organisatie, en; (3) het fragmentatieperspectief. Vanuit het multi-actor perspectief, ofwel onderzoek waarin medewerkers uit verscheidene functies worden meegenomen, zoals directieleden, niet onderwijzend personeel en docenten (in totaal is er onderscheid gemaakt in vijf actor groepen), is naar een antwoord gezocht op de volgende hoofdvraag: “Welke informatie leveren de perspectieven integratie, differentiatie en fragmentatie van de theorie van Joanne Martin op wanneer we de actuele organisatiecultuur van het Trajectum College analyseren aan de hand van diverse groepen actoren?” Middels een combinatie van literatuurstudie en kwalitatief onderzoek beoogde ik de benodigde data te vinden, om uiteindelijk de hoofdvraag te kunnen beantwoorden. Inmiddels kunnen we concluderen dat alle actor groepen unaniem zijn over het integratieperspectief. Een studie vanuit dit perspectief laat zien dat kenmerken welke hiertoe behoren niet waarneembaar zijn in de actuele organisatiecultuur van het Trajectum College, omdat de actoren van mening zijn dat er van eenheid en een familiegevoel binnen de school geen sprake is. Over het differentiatieperspectief zijn de actoren wederom gelijkgestemd, binnen de organisatie zijn er overduidelijk subculturen te onderscheiden, welke zo nu en dan met elkaar in conflict zijn. Het fragmentatieperspectief levert wel uiteenlopende inzichten op vanuit het multi-actor perspectief, zo zijn drie actor groepen van mening dat kenmerken van dit perspectief duidelijk terug te zien zijn binnen de uit een fusie ontstane school. De overige groepen denken hier anders over. Concluderend kan gesteld worden dat waar Martin het heeft over het gegeven dat er op elk tijdstip vanuit alle drie de perspectieven naar organisatiecultuur gekeken kan worden, in tegenstelling tot vroeger waarin men juist onderzoek deed naar organisatie- cultuur vanuit één van de drie perspectieven, dit voor het Trajectum College wil zeggen dat de perspectieven… Advisors/Committee Members: Hormann, P.A.H., Veenendaal, I.Y.E. van.

▼ “Ética e alteridade: uma leitura a partir da filosofia de Martin Buber e suas implicações para a compreensão do outro” é uma leitura filosófica das contribuições buberianas que se apresenta como uma reflexão conceitual, e ao mesmo tempo prática, na medida em que se propõe como um diálogo acerca da possibilidade de se pensar a relação ética na contemporaneidade. Assumindo uma metodologia hermenêutica do conjunto da obra do autor, este estudo busca investiga sobre como o outro concorre, na filosofia de Martin Buber, para a realização de uma ética contemporânea. O diálogo (princípio ontológico) assume, nesse itinerário, a centralidade de nossas investigações, este, no conjunto da obra de Buber, é marcado pela forma de relação de Ser a Ser. A vida dialógica é compreendida por Buber como um vínculo que expressa o mútuo envolvimento entre os seres. O ser capaz de entrar em relação por meio do responsabilizar-se com a palavra endereçada assume a postura de falar verdadeiramente de si. A atitude de que expressa a aparência de si é considerada como monológica, e por não favorecer a presença, ela não alcança o outro em sua alteridade. A verdadeira palavra requer ser abraçada na busca de um agir ético. A palavra possibilitadora do diálogo é endereçada pelo outro em sua totalidade. O humano, como ser de relação, é reconhecido em sua forma essencial no encontro com o outro, com o qual experimenta a reciprocidade, atitude fundamental à vida do diálogo. O homem que recebe a palavra deve responsabilizar-se em respondê-la. A resposta, necessariamente, acontece do lugar onde se estar numa atitude de não se preocupar consigo, mas de completo engajamento com os clamores do mundo que evocam a cada um de nós em particular e, de uma forma singular, a vida verdadeira, o encontro existencial. O ser capaz de responder às exigências do cotidiano em consonância com seu princípio ontológico é identificado como homem religioso. Religioso, em Buber, conota a disposição do homem em responder ao apelo do espírito. O diálogo com as filosofias de Kant, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Hegel e Sartre aponta para a incapacidade de reconhecer Deus, na sua íntima relação com o homem e com o mundo, como Aquele que mantemos verdadeiras relações por meio do outro. A relação com o outro, nesses termos, entrecruzam-se no Tu Eterno ao mesmo tempo em que se apresentam como estatuto ético. Portanto, concluímos em nosso estudo que as vivências travadas no cotidiano, em sua grande maioria, não expressam uma postura ética na medida em que os indivíduos não mais se preocupam com as ações que os possibilitem seu retorno ao âmago natural, isto é, a vida da relação. A crítica de Buber à sociedade hodierna aponta para a reflexão/ação de um resgate no tocante ao tecer ético do nosso existir em conformidade com o reconhecimento da alteridade. ▼ Diálogo e Educação: O Pensamento Pedagógico em Martin Buber parte do reconhecimento do caráter essencialmente pedagógico das idéias de Martin Buber, condensadas na filosofia do diálogo desse autor. A educação encontra-se vinculada a seu projeto teórico e social, sem a qual ele não se compreende ao mesmo tempo em que tal projeto é expressão de proposta educativa. Tal perspectiva parte de uma íntima relação entre as visões de humano, de sociedade e a dimensão de transcendência. O que ele chama educação significa a seleção do mundo efetivo pelo ser humano, recolhida e demonstrada no educador. Buber compreende o educativo como relação, como mútuo envolvimento. O educador realiza, assim, uma compreensão abrangente do outro, e, tal como indivíduo engajado no encontro dialógico, experiencia o duplo sentido da consciência de si, ao mesmo tempo em que percebe o outro na sua condição singular. Esse encontro é a própria vivência do inter-humano, a essencial alteridade que marca a relação. A relação educacional é uma relação puramente dialógica (UE, 33). O sentido que esse autor atribui à educação pode ser apreendido a partir das categorias com as quais ele define o humano, assim como nas suas análises e propostas para a sociedade. O humano, como ser de relação, que só se reconhece de forma essencial no encontro com o outro e com ele experimenta a reciprocidade, que tem no diálogo a sua atitude fundamental. Este homem ao qual a palavra é dirigida pelo diálogo assume a responsabilidade de responder a partir do lugar onde se encontra. A tese aqui proposta implicou relacionar as diferentes dimensões da produção teórica desse autor: desde os fundamentos, constituídos por meio do diálogo com a tradição judaica (em especial com o movimento hassídico) e a filosofia ocidental; a elaboração de uma antropologia em diálogo com diferentes correntes de pensamento existente no início do século XX, em especial com a abordagem fenomenológica e existencial; a sua ontologia da relação, do diálogo, expressa em Eu e Tu, obra na qual ele reconhece a dupla atitude do humano, traduzida das duas palavras-princípio Eu-Tu e Eu-Isso de um lado, uma atitude cognoscitiva e, do outro, uma atitude ontológica. A perspectiva anunciada na filosofia de Buber expressa sua crítica à modernidade, à qual ele responde de forma propositiva, pela defesa de uma ética do inter-humano, a partir da qual se compreende a exigência formativa uma educação para a comunidade. A questão da comunidade é um tema central a essa filosofia, começo e fim de sua teoria educativa: apenas na comunidade é possível educar, sendo necessário, por sua vez, educar para que os jovens compreendam o sentido da comunidade. Within various contexts, our age has been described in both a negative and positive manner. Negatively it has been characterized by such traits as "anxiety," "absurdity," "alienation"; positively it has often been characterized in terms of technological progress, among others. Taking the root-meaning of "nihilism" to be negation, the negative traits may be collected under that word, since each trait indicates a negation of something considered valuable, e.g., security, purpose, community. However to merely gather the many negative trends under "nihilism" would accomplish little. They resist unified explanation; the term "nihilism" succumbs to ambiguity. The negative traits of our age then appear as discrete and unrelated. In contrast, the positive characterization of our age seems unambiguous. Technology has proven itself as the spectacularly successful systematic effort at problem-solving. Given a neatly circumscribed problem – technology solves it. However as the destructive potential of technology becomes more and more evident, as the efficient solving of isolated problems is seen to issue in the threat of large scale catastrophe, the positive characterization of technology must be questioned. Yet the destructive capacity of technology is not enough to establish a solid link between technology and nihilism. Nihilism seems at first glance to be subjective, an attitude, while technology seems to be objective, a methodology. However perhaps this distinction is illusory; perhaps nihilism is the human response to an objective situation and technology conceals its relationship to values and human subjectivity. Could it be that nihilism is really a perceptive glance into technology which, in turn, is in fact pervaded by a basically nihilistic world-view? If this is the case, then technology can be fully understood only by grasping its underlying nihilism and nihilism can be adequately grasped only when it is encountered within technology. Such a train of thought opens us to Martin Heidegger's synthesis of the concepts of nihilism and technology. It is a radical and comprehensive synthesis according to which technology is the final phase of nihilism. Examining the historical development of Western metaphysics beginning in pre-Socratic Greece, Heidegger traces the development of nihilism which culminates in the modern age of technology. There are several books and numerous articles which have explicated Heidegger's concepts of nihilism and technology within the context of his philosophy. However, this dissertation will go further and focus on the relationship between Heidegger's conceptions of nihilism and technology and significant non-Heideggerian analyses of the same phenomena. ▼ Frank Martin's secular chamber oratorio 'Le Vin Herbé' (1938-1941), originally scored for twelve singers and eight instruments, represents a watershed moment in the development of one of the most prolific and unique compositional voices of the twentieth century. The work is important on two counts: first, because it represents the first ripe fruits of the peculiar synthesis of influences that characterizes virtually all of Martin's mature compositional output; and second, because it is, in its own right, a masterfully crafted work of profound beauty and intense drama—one that is accessible to musical organizations of relatively modest means, and that deserves to be more widely performed and heard. ❧ The text of 'Le Vin Herbé' is taken from Joseph Bédier's 'Le Roman de Tristan et Iseut' (1900), which recounts the ages-old story of two lovers who drink a magic potion and fall helplessly in love. Since at least the twelfth century, this so-called ""Tristan legend"" has been proliferated worldwide in countless versions and redactions. In compiling his own novel, Bédier hoped to make the tale accessible to a twentieth-century French-speaking audience, while also adhering as faithfully as possible to both the spirit and content of the medieval sources. Since Martin's contribution cannot be fully appreciated without an understanding of its place in relation to this extensive mythological corpus, one of the aims of the present study is to consider the work within this greater literary context. Particular attention is paid to the inevitable comparisons with Wagner's music drama on the same subject, which came to light three-quarters of a century earlier. Apart from the most superficial alignment of their dramatic content, however, these two works could not be more different. ❧ Martin's musical aesthetic, like Swiss culture in general, is often described in terms of a confluence of French and German styles. In reality, however, his compositional output, and particularly the elements that constitute his mature style as exemplified in 'Le Vin Herbé', incorporate a broad and eclectic range of aesthetic influences. Chief among these are Martin's uniquely expressive harmonic language, the lyricism of his melodic writing, his use of flexible and often irregular speech-like rhythms, and perhaps most of all, his efforts to reconcile certain aspects of the dodecaphonic technique of Schoenberg with his own firmly entrenched tonal sensibilities. These and other aspects of Martin's compositional style are examined in detail within the context of 'Le Vin Herbé'. ❧ Martin's compositions continue to be performed widely throughout Europe, and a few have even gained a lasting foothold here in the United States—particularly the 'Petite Symphonie Concertante' (1945), his most celebrated work. 'Le Vin Herbé', however, has largely failed to gain the traction it deserves, in part because the work's narrative stance and musical scoring make it difficult to categorize and program. ▼ Í þessari ritgerð ætla ég að fjalla um ákveðið heimspekihugtak eða fyrirbæri sem Heidegger kallar Ereignis og ég þýði með íslenska orðinu Viður-eign, en ég fer nánar út í þýðinguna hér á eftir. Þetta hugtak tilheyrir seinni tíma Heidegger og birtist víða í ritum hans, en það er fyrst í ritinu Framlög til heimspekinnar (Um Viður-eignina) (Beiträge zur Philosophie (Vom Ereignis)) sem heil bók er tekin undir efnið. Það er nauðsynlegt að fara yfir grunn fyrirbærafræðinnar til að skilja hvaðan Heidegger hefur fengið kveikjuna að hugmyndum sínum um Viður-eign, og feta sig þaðan að þeim hugsunarhætti sem Heidegger kynnir til sögunnar, með þeim nauðsynlegu hléum og útúrdúrum sem þarf á að halda til að skilja efnið betur. Ég vonast til að geta varpað ljósi á hugmyndir Heideggers um Viður-eignina sem aðferð sem maðurinn gæti tileinkað sér til að fá nýjan útgangspunkt í líf sitt, og sleppa við firringu tæknivædds heims. Mikilvægustu rannsóknarspurningarnar eru annars vegar um Viður-eignina (Ereignis) og hvort hún sé manninum nothæft tæki til verurannsókna, til endurnýjunar hugsana og í baráttu við klisjur og firringu. Hins vegar er vert að kanna hvort Framlögin bæti einhverju við þá heimspeki Heideggers sem þegar hafa birst í öðrum ritum hans. Í ritgerðinni eru, auk inngangs og lokaorða, fjórir meginkaflar: Viður-eign, Um Framlögin, Sköpun og Flótti guðanna. Viður-eign hefst á sögulegu yfirliti yfir þróun á heimspeki fyrri tíma Heideggers, eins og til dæmis í Veru og tíma, til seinni tíma Heideggers, eins og til dæmis í Framlögunum. Þá er Viður-eignin eða Ereignis útskýrt og farið yfir hvar hugtakið má finna í ritum Heideggers. Í þriðja kafla, Um Framlögin, geri ég grein fyrir ritinu Framlög til heimspekinnar (Um Viður-eignina) og fer yfir bakgrunn Heideggers í fyrirbærafræði, og hvernig hann nýtti sér tæki fyrirbærafræðinnar ásamt hugmyndum sínum um þörf á nýju tungumáli til að móta hugmynd sína um aðra byrjun. Í fjórða kaflanum, Sköpun, er áherslan á mikilvægi ljóðskálda og sköpunar fyrir kenningu Heideggers um Viður-eignina, og hvernig sköpunarkraftur nýrra orða býr að lokum til þá opnun sem hugsun okkar þarf á að halda til að komast í nauðsynlegt flæði til að nálgast Veruna. Fimmti kaflinn er tileinkaður guði eða skorti á honum, og einnig fer ég yfir austræn áhrif á kenningar Heideggers. Í lokaorðunum reyni ég að draga saman aðalatriði hugmyndar Heideggers um Viður-eignina og fer yfir möguleg svör við þeim spurningum sem ég lagði af stað með. Ég velti fyrir mér hvort Heidegger hafi tekist að búa til aðferð fyrir manninn til að viðhalda ferskleika hugmynda sinna, í sífellt flóknari heimi, og hvort Framlögin bæti raunverulega einhverju við þá heimspeki sem kom út á höfundaferli hans. Sökum þess hve textinn sem Heidegger skrifar í Framlögunum er tyrfinn og tilraunakenndur er nauðsynlegt er að skoða hann í samhengi við aðra texta Heideggers sem ritaðir voru á undan og á eftir til að ná betur utan um inntak hans. Þá er gagnlegt að rýna í aðra texta Heideggers eins og „Tímabil heimsmyndanna”, „Bréf um mannhyggju“ og…
