▼ Retroviral Gag protein plays a critical role during the late stage of virus budding and possesses a so-called L-domain containing PT/SAP, PPxY, YxxL or FPIV motifs that are critical for efficient budding. Mason-Pfizer monkey virus (M-PMV) contains PSAP, PPPY, and YADL sequences in Gag. This study was performed to investigate the roles of these three L-domain-like sequences in virus replication in three different cell lines, 293T, COS-7 and HeLa cells. It was found that the PPxY motif plays an essential role in progeny virus production as a major L-domain in all three cell lines. The PSAP sequence was shown to function as an additional L-domain in HeLa cells and to promote efficient release of M-PMV; however, this sequence was dispensable for M-PMV production in 293T and COS-7 cells, suggesting that the role of the PSAP motif as an L-domain in M-PMV budding is cell type-dependent. Viruses possessing multiple L-domains appear to change the L-domain usage to replicate in various cells. On the other hand, the YADL motif was required for M-PMV production as a transport signal of Gag to the plasma membrane, but not as an L-domain.

A situa????o em que o patrim??nio documental musicogr??fico e iconogr??fico musical se encontra atualmente no Brasil ainda exp??e o grau de neglig??ncia que os nossos acervos documentais relativos ?? m??sica sofreram ao longo de s??culos por parte de indiv??duos e institui????es que pareciam (e, por vezes, ainda parecem) ignorar completamente o valor hist??rico e cultural da documenta????o por eles

Problemas inerentes e hist??ricos somam-se ainda a quest??es relativas ?? desigual distribui????o de recursos financeiros e humanos para tomar devida conta desse patrim??nio documental e cultural. Apesar do pa??s possuir legisla????o espec??fica dedicada ?? gest??o documental, talvez o maior problema seja o desconhecimento do volume documental que esse patrim??nio possui em termos quantitativos e qualitativos. Light energy is converted into an electrical signal by a set of proteins in the phototransduction cascade in photoreceptors. In this work, I focus on two critical elements of the phototransduction cascade in canine, the opsin molecules and CNG channels of cone photoreceptors. Canines are dichromats possessing two types of cone photoreceptors with different opsin molecules that detect either long and medium wavelengths (L/M) or short wavelengths (S). The L/M- and S-opsin genes were cloned from an Alaskan Malamute and used to investigate key amino acids that are responsible for tuning the spectral properties of the 11-cis retinal chromophore. Cone CNG channels are composed of CNGA3 and CNGB3 subunits. I characterized antibodies to detect cone CNG channel subunits to investigate expression of mutations in CNGB3 subunit on two canine models for achromatopsia. One model contains a missense CNGB3 mutation D262N (CNGB3m/m) and the other is a complete deletion of all exons of the CNGB3 gene (CNGB3-/-). Studies presented in this thesis show CNGB3 is expressed later in cone during retinal development compared to CNGA3. It also presents evidence for the necessity of CNGB3 in cone outer segment targeting of CNGA3.

▼ ENGLISH SUMMARY : The classical transportation problem is concerned with the distribution of a single commodity
from a group of supply centres or sources, to a group of demand centres or destinations. The amount of commodity available at any source is limited, and the demand for the commodity at each destination is finite. Transportation cost functions may be non-linear because of quantity discounts, or price breaks, etc. Also, a fixed charge may be incurred every time units of commodity are sent from a given source to a given destination. The fixed charge transportation problems
(FCTP) differs from the standard linear transportation problem (TP) only in the nonlinearity (caused by die fixed charge) in the objective function.
Different heuristic methods were developed to generate initial solutions. The stepping stone method and tabu search algorithm are used to attempt to solve this problem. The algorithms are
evaluated according to their efficiency (computational runtime and solution quality) for solving FCTP problems. Comparisons are made using randomly generated benchmark instances from
the literature. The instances contain different sizes and different ranges of magnitude of fixed costs relative to variable costs. The primal-dual algorithm was also considered in finding good
solutions to be FCTP.
The results (for small instances) obtained for the proposed algorithm have been compared with that for an exact algorithm based on an integer programming formulation available in the literature.
The results from computational experiments show that the proposed algorithms yield near optimal solution to most instances. The primal-dual algorithm demonstrate significant
improvement over the proposed heuristic methods for small FCTPs, although it could not find feasible solutions to some instances.

This study is a critical assessment and analysis of Xhosa poetry that addresses social and political concerns with particular reference to the poetry of Qangule (1970), Mtuze (1982, 1990) and Xozwa (1994 ). Chapter one introduces the study by presenting its aim, scope, method of research, theory, definition of concepts and significance of the study. Chapter 2 focuses on the theoretical framework of the study. It discusses the theory of Marxism, which is used as a basis of this study, by explaining the concept of Marxism, its historical background, assumptions, methodology and Marxism and poetry. Chapter 3 deals with social concerns that are addressed by Mtuze (1982 and 1990) and Xozwa (1994 ). These social concerns are divorce and alcohol usage. The discussion in this chapter focuses on how divorce affects members of the family concerned, especially children of divorced parents. It also looks at how alcohol is used in society. While the discussion in this chapter acknowledges moderate use of alcohol, it focuses more on how this substance may also be abused. It looks at how alcohol abuse affects individuals and society economically and how dangerous it is to the health and lives of people. Chapter 4 focuses on political concerns as addressed by Qangule (1970) and Mtuze (1982). It assesses and analyses poems that address the oppression of black people during the apartheid regime in South Africa. Concerns like citizenship and deprivation of freedom, labour conditions and language are discussed in this chapter. Chapter 5 is a concluding statement which gives a summary of the study, evaluation of Xhosa poetry with regard to addressing the concerns discussed in the study and recommendations regarding future research.

▼ Consumer exposure to opportunistic pathogens in potable water systems poses a significant challenge to public health as manifested by numerous cases of pneumonia, non-tuberculosis lung disease, and keratitis eye infections. Water utilities have extensive understanding in control of heterotrophic and coliform bacteria re-growth in water distribution systems via disinfection, control of assimilable organic carbon (AOC), and biologically degradable organic carbon (BDOC). However, much little is known about the effect of AOC on the proliferation of heterotrophic bacteria and pathogens within premise plumbing. This thesis is the first systematic examination of opportunistic pathogen persistence and amplification in simulated glass water heaters (SGWH) as a function of influent organic matter concentration. The role of plumbing conditions that may internally generate AOC is critically examined as part of this evaluation.
Strong correlations were often observed between influent organic matter and heterotrophic bacteria in effluent of SGWH as indicated by 16S rRNA gene abundance (average R2 value of 0.889 and 0.971 for heterotrophic organisms and 16S rRNA respectively). The correlation was strongest if water turnover was more frequent (every 48-72 hours) and decreased markedly when water changes were less frequent (stagnation up to 7 days). No simple correlations were identified between the concentration of pathogenic bacteria (
L. pneumophila,
M. avium, A. polyphaga, and H. vermiformis) and AOC, although correlations were observed between
M. avium and TOC over a limited range (and only for a subset of experiments). Indeed, there was little evidence that Legionella and Acanthamoeba proliferated under any of the conditions tested in this work.
Parallel experiments were conducted to examine the extent to which factors present in premise plumbing (e.g. sacrificial magnesium anode rods, cross-linked polyethylene, nitrifying bacteria, and iron) could influence water chemistry and influence growth of bacteria or specified pathogens. Although these factors could strongly influence pH, dissolved oxygen concentrations, and levels of organic matter (e.g. iron, magnesium, nitrifying), there was no major impact on effluent concentrations of either heterotrophic bacteria or premise plumbing pathogens under the conditions investigated.
While additional research is needed to confirm these findings, at present, there is no evidence of correlations between organic matter and pathogen concentrations from SGWH under conditions tested. Substantial effort was also invested in attempting to identify SGWH and oligotrophic nutrient conditions that would consistently support
L. pneumophila and A. polyphaga amplification. A review of the literature indicates no prior examples of large scale amplification of these microorganisms at nutrient levels commonly found in synthesized potable water. Para saber se as atividades propostas pelas duas cole????es analisadas atendem as
pol??ticas p??blicas brasileiras para o ensino de l??nguas no ensino m??dio, foi feito um recorte, a partir de um levantamento bibliogr??fico sobre as teorias sobre l??ngua e aprendizagens e a an??lise das orienta????es e diretrizes encontradas nos documentos norteadores das pol??ticas p??blicas brasileiras para o ensino de l??nguas no ensino m??dio, focando no que foi sugerido em rela????o ?? produ????o escrita e nos crit??rios eliminat??rios do PNLD 2012 e PNLD 2015. Resumo: Pesquisas sobre mapas no ensino de Geografia não é algo novo na literatura brasileira. Nos últimos anos, principalmente a partir da década de 1990, os encontros científicos e trabalhos com essa temática têm sido cada vez mais recorrentes, assim como certo aumento nos questionamentos acerca das inúmeras possibilidades dos mapas em sala de aula, nas relações de ensino. Sem dúvida, os mapas estão bastante presentes no ensino de Geografia e, muitas vezes, tido como sinônimo dessa disciplina e os estudantes têm contato com eles desde os primeiros anos de escolarização. Mas será que aprendemos de fato a lê-los? Quais possibilidades de
leitura são realmente oportunizadas aos alunos em ambiente escolar? O objetivo central da tese é valorizar o mapa em sua condição de linguagem e representação e, por conseguinte, resgatar seu papel cognitivo no ensino básico a partir de algumas estratégias e atividades elaboradas para alunos do segundo ano do ensino médio de uma escola estadual de Campinas/SP. Tais abordagens, apresentadas e discutidas no decorrer do trabalho, logravam uma postura questionadora em relação aos mapas, desvendando intenções e posições presentes por trás da representação, além de compreendê-la como uma linguagem e, portanto, uma produção social transmissora e produtora de ideologias, como toda linguagem. Para tanto, optou-se pelo desenvolvimento de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo fundamentada teórica e metodologicamente na abordagem histórico-cultural, cujas interlocuções principais foram com Mikhail Bakhtin e Lev Vygotsky, principalmente em suas contribuições acerca da concepção e papel da linguagem.
O pressuposto de que os mapas se configuram como construtos histórico-sociais é sustentado pelas ideias de Bakhtin acerca do enunciado. Esse referencial vem colaborando para a defesa e compreensão dos mapas como linguagem eminentemente ideológica. Analisando os documentos oficiais, foi possível perceber que há grande ênfase no ensino da cartografia enquanto técnica e que por mais que esteja explícita a preocupação e a importância da formação de um aluno leitor e produtor de mapas, isso ainda está focalizado na decodificação, no tratamento da cartografia enquanto língua e não enquanto linguagem. Assim, a valorização da cartografia como linguagem por meio da concepção de ensino enquanto prática social, alteritária por natureza, possibilita que os alunos compreendam os mapas de outra forma e realizem leituras e raciocínios espaciais mais completos

Esta pesquisa, um Estudo de Caso do tipo etnogr??fico, visa compreender como surgem e como s??o tratados, nas aulas da disciplina L??ngua Inglesa, aspectos da cultura de origem e da cultura-alvo, e sua articula????o com os aspectos lingu??sticos. Para tanto, foi escolhido como locus dessa pesquisa o Instituto Federal de Educa????o, Ci??ncia e Tecnologia da Bahia, IFBA, campus de Salvador, local onde o pesquisador ministra aulas. Com vistas a aplicar os instrumentos de coleta de dados, selecionou-se seis sujeitos que ministram aulas em turmas de 2?? e 3?? anos do Ensino T??cnico Integrado ao M??dio, s??ries em que a disciplina L??ngua Inglesa ?? oferecida no IFBA, Campus de Salvador. Para a an??lise quantitativa dos dados, utilizou-se o programa PSPP, um dos pacotes contidos no sistema operacional livre GNU, e um substituto gratuito do
programa SPSS, da IBM, com interface e fun????es bastante semelhantes a este. Por sua vez, para a an??lise qualitativa dos dados, empregou-se a t??cnica de An??lise de Conte??do, com o objetivo de inferir, com base na an??lise dos textos produzidos pelos sujeitos: sua compreens??o acerca dos conceitos de l??ngua e cultura, e a influ??ncia desses conceitos na escolha dos aspectos culturais abordados em sala de aula; se o trabalho efetivamente desenvolvido em sala de aula era compat??vel com o que eles afirmavam efetuar. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que os sujeitos apontam a l??ngua, primeiramente, como um ve??culo de comunica????o. ▼ Le traitement au froid en post-récolte (TPR) des ananas (Ananas comosus. (L). M) destiné à ralentir la sénescence des fruits, induit « le brunissement interne de l'ananas » (BI). Afin d'étudier des gènes susceptibles de discriminer les variétés tolérantes, une comparaison entre des fruits frais ou soumis au TPR a été réalisée pour 4 variétés d'ananas différant par leur tolérance au BI. D'après les résultats, en réponse au TPR l'absence de symptômes de BI est associée à une « tolérance membranaire » et à une faible activité de la polyphenol oxydase. L'étude de l'activité de la phenylalanine ammonia-lyase et de l'ascorbate peroxidase a révélé que le froid induit une stimulation de l'activité de ces enzymes chez une variété sensible au BI. L'étude du catabolisme protéique a montré que la tolérance des fruits au BI était liée : à la sous-expression du gène d'une protéase à cystéine, et à une sur-expression de gènes codant une cystatine et une protéase à acide aspartique, dont l'ADNc a été caractérisé et cloné pour la première fois chez l'ananas. L'expression différentielle de ces gènes indique qu'ils pourraient être utilisés pour le criblage par PCR de variétés dans les programmes d'améliorations de l'ananas pour la résistance au BI
Pineapple fruits (Ananas comosus. (L). M) require postharvest chilling treatment (PCT) in order to extend the postharvest fruit quality during shipping exportation. However PCT induces an injury known as blackheart (BH), or fruit browning, which is characterized by the appearance of brown spots in the flesh. This work has focused on the study of the development of BH physiopathy in the context of postharvest treatment in 4 pineapple varieties differing in their resistance to BH. Results showed that BH was associated with high membrane tolerance, low activity of polyphenol oxidase and absence of the related isoforms. Under chilling stress, the activities of both phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and ascorbate peroxidase were enhanced in the BH susceptible variety. Various genes involved in protein catabolism under abiotic stress were also studied. BH resistance was shown to be linked to the down-regulation of a major cystein protease and to the up-regulation of cystatin, the natural inhibitor of cystein protease. An aspartic acid protease, isolated and sequenced for the first time in pineapple, was also studied. Opposed to cystein protease, the expression and activity of the aspartic acid protease was directly related to BH resistance. Taken together, the results gathered by this work suggest that these genes could provide useful molecular markers for PCR variety screening in breeding programs aimed at improving pineapple BH resistance

▼ In this study, we have demonstrated that the culture of Early Modernity has popularized three significant metaphors or optical instruments (the reversed view, the perspective and the point of view) to capture, to organize, to interpret and to represent the sensitive world. Each of these metaphors offers a characterization partially different from the world, but all of them address the most common intellectual quests or problems of the epoch, such as the disorder of the world and the mistake that the senses provoke in the judgment. The reversed view or the reversed world (topic inherited from the Middle Ages) can explain the problem of disorder but with the condition of breaking the unity of the world in two representations (the Being and the Appearance). The perspective (metaphor taken from the central perspective of the Renaissance) can explain also this problem but the condition of this perspective is always unique and central (monocular) that could give or guarantee coherence to everything. The metaphor of the point of view (metaphor inherited from the decentralized perspective or anamorphose of the Baroque) was managing to explain also this problem but with the condition of making the world a labyrinthine city of divergent points of view. Leaving out the first metaphor (that of the reversed view), which already began to lose its credibility, we have characterized the imaginary, between the 16th and the 17th century, by combining the metaphor of the perspective of the Renaissance and that of the point of view of the Baroque. That is, in the apparently disordered moral, political, linguistic and scientific world, there is a unique and infinite perspective that gives coherence to the entire fragmented points of view, subordinating them to a unique center. We have thus drawn the following conclusion: the point of view explains the visible plurality of the reality - the disorder, whereas the perspective explains, though invisible, its superior unity - the order. We demonstrated also that during the period from the Renaissance to the Baroque, three important processes in visual imaginary of Europe emerged: the rationalization of the visual conscience (phenomenon related to the central perspective); the interioritation of the vision and its partial separation of the sense of tact (phenomenon related to the assimilation, done by Descartes, from the eye to the camera obscura and also to the perspective of the Renaissance); and the indissoluble unit between the modus spectandi and the representatio (phenomenon tied to the anamorphose and to the geometric perspective of the Early Modernity, done by Leibniz). These three processes arose in the middle of a tension between three different notions from representation. ▼ This dissertation analyses the policy of fascist Italy towards Syria and Lebanon under French Mandate in the 1930s, and especially the propagandistic activities carried out by the Italian government, in order to achieve his specific political aims in the Levant. In the early 1930s,
Mussolini’s regime started an “Islamic policy” with new characteristic, in comparison with the traditional “Arab policy” of pre-fascist Italy. Mussolini’s ambitions in the Mediterranean sea were, in fact, the same of the Italian governments in the liberal age, i. e. the conquer of a political, economical and strategic hegemony in the so-called “mare nostrum”. Fascist “Islamic policy” tried
to fight French and British influence in the Near East, not only by traditional diplomatic and political means, but appealing directly to the Arab peoples, to their political and intellectual élites, and to their public opinion. This policy was carried out mostly by a massive propagandistic
campaign in the Arab world, conducted through modern media such as press, radio and, to a lesser extent, cinema. In Lebanon and Syria, where the press was more developed and influent than in the rest of the Arab countries (with the exception of Egypt), Italian subventions to the newspapers
played a central role, in the attempt to gain political influence, and to curb that of France. But, in order to compete with French cultural influence in the Levant, Italian government also promoted the creation and improvement of Italian schools, charities, and all the activities that could earn prestige to Italy, like sport associations, and the society life of the Italian communities. The French authorities, worried for the blows that Italian propaganda could inflict to their prestige,
contrasted it with an increasing decision, especially after the Popular Front’s victory. But the final failure of fascist “Islamic policy”, before World War II, was not due to the French reaction, or – as some historians wrote – to the fact that Mussolini’s “Arab policy” was just a means to exert pressure on Great Britain, in order to achieve a “general agreement” in the Mediterranean sea. The
Italian “Islamic policy” failed because the Arabs were not attracted by fascist ideology, and even less by Mussolini’s policies. The ephemeral consent gained by the “duce” in the Arab world, between the conquer of Ethiopia and the Easter Pact, was due to the illusion that fascist Italy could
be an ally for the Arab nationalism, against French and British presence in the Near and Middle East. This hope was wiped out by a series of Italian actions, in foreign and colonial policy; and in 1939, after the aggression to Albania, Italian prestige in the Arab world was virtually as low as it was at the beginning of the decade, when ‘Umar al-Mukhtar had been hanged in Cyrenaica.

▼ “A Catalogue of Light” takes the genre of the lyric sequence as its antecedent, examining the qualities of chronological structure and lyric speech proper to the genre, and figuring a sequential text that investigates the interior conditions of a pair of fictional subjects. In this collection, I offer a sequence of lyric poems that establishes through its chronological and sequential arrangement a narrative context through which the reader might understand my characters’ representations of selfhood.
Over the duration of “A Catalogue of Light,” the reader is privileged to representative accounts of each character’s interiority as it develops in dialogue with the contextual circumstances of the story, such that the narrative illustrates their dynamic interior conditions. During the period in which my sequence is set,
L.
M. Fish and Janine Fish encounter prolonged poverty, marital difficulty, and senile dementia, such that “A Catalogue of Light” investigates the question of how an invented character would make an account of privation and loss.
Alongside such an investment in character, I am deeply interested in how the dictional music of a poem communicates with its metrical music, and in how the aural qualities of a lyric poem demand its reader and its speaker become more deeply acquainted. I’ve chosen lyric as the poetic practice to investigate the speaking subjects of “A Catalogue of Light,” not only for its engagement with the emotional and cognitive conditions of its speaker, but also for its attention to the music and the meter through which I encounter my reader.
I am committed in these poems to a writing practice that would make lyric seem different than sequence, and that wants the reader to be acquainted with the characters through their depictions of being-in-the-world, as well as through the collection’s chronological story. I would like my reader to understand the text through its apparatus of
subject-positions, through the dictional ranges of its characters and narrator, and through my attention to the music and logic that are native to meter, anaphora, assonance and consonance. In such concerns, I locate the characteristic qualities of my speakers, and I lend them sound and sense.

▼ Short-season maize hybrids may be improved by the introgression of novel germplasm containing useful alleles for enhancing grain yield. This thesis investigated the potential of the exotic germplasm BSLE(
M-
L)C30 [Long Ear (LE) genetics] to enhance the short-season germplasm pool. To assess the potential of this genetic background, 40 inbred lines were derived from BSLE(
M-
L)C30 and crossed to two short-season inbred lines to form 80 LE hybrids. In the first experiment, grain yield and yield related traits of the 80 LE hybrids were compared against five commercial hybrids. The top five LE hybrids within each tester background exhibited grain yield within 90% of the commercial hybrids. The results suggested that BSLE(
M-
L)C30 may contain useful alleles for grain yield. As the LE hybrids involving the Iodent tester were lower in grain moisture, it may be a trait that would be valuable in short-season hybrids. The second experiment examined the sink potential (floret number estimate), sink strength (kernel number and kernel weight) and grain yield in seven of the LE hybrids and a reference check under three plant densities. The seven LE hybrids exhibited greater sink potential and equivalent sink strength and grain yield to the check, suggesting that the LE germplasm can enhance sink potential without compromising sink strength under current commercial plant densities. The final experiment examined dry matter accumulation dynamics in two LE hybrids compared to two short-season check hybrids. One of the LE hybrids exhibited significantly greater dry matter at silking than the two checks, however, no differences were observed for dry matter at maturity. These results suggest that BSLE(
M-
L)C30 contains alleles which may enhance early season dry matter accumulation. In conclusion, there is strong evidence to suggest that BSLE(
M-
L)C30 is a useful source of novel alleles to improve the short-season maize hybrids.

Os ?cidos org?nicos s?o subst?ncias que servem como acidulantes e contribuem com a cor, aroma e gosto de bebidas e outros alimentos, bem como s?o utilizados em alguns medicamentos. O objetivo desse trabalho foi verificar o potencial das linhagens Aspergillus tubingensis AN1257 e Aspergillus niger 10v10 para a convers?o de glicerol a ?cidos org?nicos e de Fusarium sp. T22.2 para a convers?o de glicerol a L-asparaginase. A secre??o de ?cidos pelas linhagens acima citadas foi avaliada em meio s?lido, variando-se a fonte de carbono (glicerol ou sacarose) e o pH. Aspergillus tubingensis AN1257 apresentou boa acidog?nese em pH 4, em meio suplementado com sacarose ou glicerol. As concep????es de coer??ncia e coes??o apreendidas pelos professores, no continuum forma????o docente e exerc??cio profissional, ressoam significativamente nas abordagens do texto em sala de aula, uma vez que, como sujeitos do conhecimento, os professores produzem saberes que mant??m ??ntima rela????o com o
trabalho que desenvolvem no exerc??cio da doc??ncia. Por essa raz??o, diante do desafio de atribuir ao texto centralidade no processo de ensino-aprendizagem da l??ngua na escola, os saberes docentes sobre coer??ncia e coes??o influenciam as atividades de leitura e de escrita desenvolvidas em sala de aula. Fundada nesse argumento, esta pesquisa objetivou compreender como professores de l??ngua portuguesa do Ensino M??dio concebem fen??menos centrais abordados nos estudos textuais, como coer??ncia e coes??o, e quais as resson??ncias dessas concep????es nas atividades de ensino-aprendizagem da leitura e da escrita que esses profissionais desenvolvem com seus alunos. Para isso, foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa qualitativa - com amostragem por caso ??nico, do tipo meio institucional - acionando dois procedimentos: a entrevista compreensiva e a observa????o participante. A pesquisa contou com a colabora????o volunt??ria de tr??s professora de l??ngua portuguesa do meio institucional onde foi
realizada. ▼ La tesi è dedicata allo studio sistematico del ruolo del drammatico nell’ermeneutica teologica di H.U. von Balthasar. Essa non ricostruisce i riferimenti alla storia del teatro, al suo rapporto con le istituzioni ecclesiastiche o a tematiche di singoli autori, bensì intende verificare la potenzialità del drammatico da un punto di vista di ermeneutica teologica. Si è così studiata la funzione del drammatico non nei prolegomena alla teologia o dal punto di vista della comprensione dell’esistenza storica del soggetto umano, bensì là dove Balthasar tratta specificamente il cuore dei misteri cristiani (cristologia, soteriologia, escatologia), verificando se il riferimento al drammatico è esteriore o invece intrinseco. Si è inteso quindi determinare il concetto di dramma che unifica la riflessione balthasariana (dramma come incontro di libertà) e infine indagare quale modello teatrale sia concretamente impiegato nella teologia dogmatica dell’autore. La tesi sostiene che, nella misura in cui Balthasar si volge a descrivere i concetti cardine della dogmatica cattolica, il paradigma di riferimento non è più il teatro della rappresentazione, bensì la drammaturgia della performance. Conclude la tesi un’appendice in cui si confronta la proposta balthasariana con le opere di Artaud (nella lettura di Derrida e Nancy), Stanislavskij e Grotowski.
The thesis is a systematic study of the role of theatre and drama in the theological hermeneutics of H.U. von Balthasar. The aim is not to explain the history of theatre, the relationship between theatre and ecclesiastical institutions, or themes of particular playwrights, but to expose the relevance of dramatics for theological investigation. The work studies the scope of dramatics neither in the theological prolegomena, nor in the historical existence of human beings; it studies its function in the exposition of Christian dogmatic (Christology, soteriology, eschatology), verifying if its role is external or intrinsic. The work investigates which concept of drama is adopted in the theology of von Balthasar (drama as encounter of freedoms), and which model of theatre is used in his dogmatic. When Balthasar exposes the key concepts of catholic theology, he leaves the traditional “theatre of representation” and refers to dramatic performance. The appendix compares the theatrical model of von Balthasar to the works of Artaud (following Derrida and Nancy), Stanislavskij and Grotowski.

▼ Il primo studio si focalizza sul diverso impatto di due categorie di strategie di Information Technologies coping sui livelli di ‘esaurimento lavorativo’ dei dipendenti (i.e, work exhaustion). Premesso un legame
tra la percezione di due techno-stressors (techno-invasion e techno-overload) e l’accusare stress e problemi relativi all’equilibrio casa-lavoro (work-family conflict), si è proceduto tramite un sistema di equazioni strutturali e path analysis a valultare quanto significativamente diversi fossero i livelli di esaurimento
lavorativo per i soggetti che utilizzassero strategie diverse per far fronte alle problematiche in esame. Il secondo studio sviluppa l’ipotesi di un effetto moderatore esercitato (sia singolarmente che in interazione reciproca) da bassi livelli di competizione tra gli impiegati ed alti livelli di ‘buona’ leadership sulla
precezione del tecnostress sul lavoro. Si sono anche studiate le ricadute sul benessere dei dipendenti derivanti da un clima lavorativo percepito come altamente competitivo. Il terzo studio si propone di dimostrare statisticamente che il costrutto del distress (stress negativo) e quello dell’eustress (stress positivo) siano variabili profondamente diverse con i propri antecedenti e le conseguenze. Si dimostra quindi che non siano costrutti opposti o statisticamente ‘reciproci’. Il tutto è testato tramite tecniche di Structural Equation Modeling ed inquadrato all’interno del frame teorico del modello delle Job Demands – Resources.
This thesis will go through three empirical studies conducted in the past three years.
The first study aims at deepening our understanding on how different technology-related stressors indirectly create negative outcomes. I specifically focus on work exhaustion as outcome because it has been demonstrated that it is a key detrimental state for employees’ wellbeing. Focusing on this outcome, I propose a model that explains how adaptive and maladaptive coping strategies influence it, and how they are indirectly informed by key technostress creators, namely techno-invasion and techno-overload. The second study will take in exam the action of two hypothetical technostress moderators: leadership climate and perceived competition on the job. Two distinct moderation effects techniques are tested using SPSS AMOS. The third study aims to statistically separate eustress construct (positive stress) from distress one (negative stress) since both concept are actually considered to be on the same continuum of the general stress measurement.

▼ Il presente lavoro di tesi si propone come uno studio sullo statuto dell’immagine e in particolare dell’immagine del volto. L’ipotesi da cui si muove è che per comprendere pienamente la natura di un’immagine sia necessario approfondire l’elemento antropologico in essa contenuto, rintracciando al di là delle manifestazioni contingenti di ogni immagine specifica l’interazione strutturale che essa intrattiene con lo sguardo. L’immagine non è il risultato di un procedimento passivo dell’occhio del soggetto, che posto di fronte al reale si limita a reagire alla luce e a produrre il riflesso dell’oggetto: l’immagine è risposta all’avanzare del reale di uno sguardo. Ogni immagine è antropologica perché si dà secondo la misura del soggetto che la istituisce, cioè in relazione all’esperienza dell’individuo che la guarda o che la produce. Il presente studio tenta, quindi, di collocarsi in una posizione più originaria rispetto alle numerose questioni che hanno dominato il panorama speculativo del secondo Novecento a proposito della natura dell’immagine: il rapporto con il referente, la presunta sostituzione dell’immagine alla realtà, il dominio del regime visivo rispetto ad altri sistemi di significazione e così via. Si tratta di questioni della massima rilevanza, ma la convinzione che anima il presente lavoro è che al di là dei mutamenti – pur radicali – del darsi dell’immagine e della sua presenza nel corso dell’evoluzione della cultura si possa rintracciare una struttura fenomenologica del suo darsi in relazione allo sguardo. L’oggetto preferenziale che si è scelto per individuare tale struttura è il volto e in particolare l’immagine del volto, il ritratto. Il ritratto individua e traccia un luogo storico-teorico fondamentale per ripensare alla natura della rappresentazione, dell’opera d’arte e dello sguardo artistico come possibilità di accesso a una forma di reale e di verità dell’immagine di cui sarà necessario specificare i caratteri.
L’analisi si apre con l’indicazione e la discussione del quadro fenomenologico di riferimento dell’intero lavoro, riproblematizzando le conclusioni del Concilio Niceno II e giungendo ad individuare la necessità di ripensare il concetto di rappresentazione. Tale ripensamento viene condotto sulla base dei testi di quattro autori, Jean-Luc Nancy, Regis Debray, Michel Dufrenne, Georges Didi-Huberman per giungere a una definizione della rappresentazione come re-presentazione dell’oggetto mediante l’immagine. Tale teoria conduce ad individuare la struttura propria di ogni immagine in una dinamica mai conclusa tra apertura e chiusura, tra caos e forma, tra infinita possibilità e definizione (capitolo primo). Il lavoro prosegue mettendo a fuoco il proprio oggetto specifico – l’immagine del volto – a partire da uno schema interpretativo «classico», il paradigma fisiognomico, mostrando come esso rappresenti la costante tentazione di misurare l’innumerabile, di costringere, classificare e fissare il mutevole per eccellenza, l’individualità che nel volto si esprime. ▼ Questa tesi si concentra sulla pratica giapponese di creare adattamenti animati a partire da opere letterarie di origine straniera, prendendo in esame il caso del World Masterpiece Theater (WMT), un’antologia di serie d’animazione prodotte dalla Nippon Animation dagli anni Settanta, ma rappresentativa di una tendenza—quella di tradurre classici mondiali per l’infanzia in anime per la TV—cominciata almeno un decennio prima.
L’analisi del contesto storico, ma anche dei legami tra la nascente industria degli anime e il sistema editoriale nipponico, permette di identificare il WMT come l’erede televisivo degli zenshū (“raccolte”) di libri per bambini appartenenti alla tradizione occidentale, pubblicati nel Paese dal periodo prebellico. Come gli zenshū, le serie del WMT associano i concetti di serialità e narrativa giovanile occidentale, hanno un intento educativo, e si presentano come esempi di un canone letterario di prestigio, reso alla portata di tutti grazie all’impiego di media popolari.
Particolare attenzione è stata dedicata alla disamina di "Anne of Green Gables" e "A Little Princess", e dei corrispettivi animati "Akage no An" (1979) e "Shōkōjo Sēra" (1985). Ciò ha permesso di identificare alcuni topoi del genere WMT, il ruolo dello staff dietro agli adattamenti, e l’influenza della “cultura delle ragazze” sull’animazione giapponese.
This thesis focuses on the Japanese practice of adapting foreign literary works into animation, considering the case of World Masterpiece Theater (WMT), an anthology of TV series produced by Nippon Animation since the mid-1970s, which epitomises a trend—Japanese studios approaching novels for children from the whole world, to turn them into long-running anime for television—started at least a decade before.
The analysis of the historical context, as well as of the ties between the anime industry and the publishing system, allows to identify WMT as the televisive heir of zenshū (“collected works”) of foreign children’s books published in the country since the prewar period. Both zenshū and WMT series associate western literature with serialisation, have an educational function, and are marked with the cultural reputation of “classics” accessible to all thanks to popular medias.
The adaptations of "Anne of Green Gables" and "A Little Princess"—as, respectively, "Akage no An" (1979) and "Shōkōjo Sēra" (1985)—have been given detailed consideration. Results of the examination are useful to pinpoint some patterns of the WMT as a genre, but also the role of the staff working on the series, and the increasingly importance of girls’ culture in Japanese animation.

Resumo: O presente trabalho analisa o método fônico de alfabetização tomando como referência a concepção de sujeito e de linguagem do Círculo de Bakhtin e Vygotski. O discurso adotado pelos fonocentristas, por mais que se auto-caracterizem como "neutros", adquire um tom político e ideológico agressivos no momento em que acusam seu principal interlocutor, o construtivismo, pelos baixos índices de desempenho em alfabetização das escolas brasileiras. Como forma de superação do construtivismo, denominado por eles como "arcaico" e "ultrapassado", apresentam uma alfabetização pautada na relação grafema-fonema. A nosso ver, a criança submetida ao método fônico - caracterizado como um ritual composto
por atividades mecânicas e arbitrárias - cumpre o papel de reprodutora de comportamentos, invertendo-se o lugar destinado aos sujeitos com aquele destinado ao objeto (a fonética). As atividades pedagógicas propostas pelos fonocentristas, como caligrafias, cópias, ditados e leituras automáticas tentam retirar toda audácia e turbulência das ciências humanas, aproximando (ou tentando aproximar), dessa forma, a alfabetização das ciências exatas. O ensino fonocentrista é caracterizado como um ensino normativo na medida em que tratam a fonética brasileira como um valor universal, abstraindo os sujeitos, cuja oralidade é bastante diversa em se tratando da grande diversidade de dialetos que existe num país enorme como o Brasil. Eles consideram a norma padrão como a própria fonética real brasileira, falada e utilizada por sujeitos concretos e reais. Por isso, uma alfabetização apoiada no método fônico pode ser caracterizada como normativista. As consequências desse tipo de atividade
ultrapassam o limite da eficácia em apresentar respostas em testes e provas, perpassando pela relação que a criança estabelece com a leitura e a escrita, a concepção de linguagem, sujeito e mundo e um ambiente escolar propício (ou não) para o desenvolvimento das funções psicológicas superiores.
The present paper analyzes the phonic literacy method by taking into account the subject and language conception from Bahktin and Vigotsky circles. The discourse adopted by the phonocentrists - despite categorizing themselves as "neutral" - acquires an aggressive political/ideological tone when its main interlocutor, the Constructivism, is pointed out as responsible by the low development rate in literacy in Brazilian schools. A prevalência de doenças infecciosas em gatis está relacionada com a densidade e tamanho da população que neles habita. Com o presente trabalho pretendeu-se determinar a prevalência do Vírus da Imunodeficiência Felina (FIV), Vírus da Leucemia Felina (FeLV), Ehrlichia ssp./Anaplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Mycoplasma haemofelis e Leishmania infantum na população de felinos de uma associação particular, a Associação dos Amigos dos Animais Abandonados da Moita, relacionar a sua presença com os sinais clínicos apresentados e perceber como esses agentes se relacionam entre si. As prevalências obtidas, nos testes serológicos, para FIV e FeLV foram de 22% e 10%, respectivamente. A pesquisa de Ehrlichia spp./Anaplasma spp. e Rickettsia spp. foi efectuada utilizando PCR convencional, tendo sido obtidas bandas positivas para Ehrlichia spp./Anaplasma spp. em 2% dos animais e bandas compatíveis com a presença de Rickettsia spp. em 16% dos animais. A detecção de M. haemofelis. e L. infantum foi realizada através de real-time PCR, e as prevalências obtidas foram de 4% e 2%, respectivamente. A única associação com significado estatístico (p< 0,05) entre a presença dos agentes pesquisados e a sintomatologia apresentada pelos animais foi o desenvolvimento de estomatite em animais infectados por FIV ou FeLV.
O animal com Ehrlichia spp./Anaplasma spp., apresentava uma ligeira desidratação, ruídos respiratórios superiores e inferiores, policitémia e linfocitose ligeiras. Nos oito animais suspeitos de positividade para Rickettsia spp. as alterações mais comuns foram gengivite ligeira, corrimento ocular e conjuntivite. Dos dois animais com M. haemofelis, um apresentava apenas conjuntivite e corrimento ocular bilateral, e o outro aumento dos linfonodos poplíteos e estomatite grave, mas ambos sem alterações no hemograma. O animal no qual foi encontrado ADN de L. infantum não apresentava qualquer sinal cutâneo, ocular ou sistémico da infecção e a única alteração de hemograma foi uma linfocitose ligeira.
Do total dos animais da amostra 56% não estavam infectados com nenhum dos agentes pesquisados. Foi encontrada associação estatística apenas entre a presença de FIV e a presença de M. haemofelis.
Uma vez que não se conhece ainda o papel dos felinos na epidemiologia de parte das doenças zoonóticas aqui descritas, a realização de mais estudos, com amostras de maiores dimensões serão necessários para que esse papel possa ser esclarecido e eventualmente estabelecido.

▼ Small long wavelength lights (≤ 1’ arc) change colour appearance with positive defocus, appearing yellow or white. I investigated influences of longitudinal chromatic aberration and monochromatic aberrations on colour appearance of small narrow band lights. Seven cyclopleged participants viewed a small light (1’ arc diameter, λmax range 510 - 628 nm) centred within a 4.6’ black annulus and surrounded by a uniform white field under photopic light levels. An optical trombone varied focus. Participants were required to vary the focus by moving the optical trombone in either positive or negative direction and report when they noticed a change in appearance of the defocused narrow band light. Longitudinal chromatic aberration was controlled using a Powell achromatizing lens and its doublet and triplet components that neutralized, doubled and reversed the eye’s chromatic aberration, respectively. Changes in colour appearance for a 628 nm light occurred without any lens at +0.5 ± 0.2D defocus and with the doublet at +0.6 ± 0.2 D. The achromatizing lens did not affect appearance and the phenomenon was evident with the triplet for negative defocus (-0.5 ± 0.3 D). Adaptive optics correction of astigmatism and higher order monochromatic aberration did not affect magnitude significantly. Colour changes occurred despite a range of participant L/M cone ratios. Direction of change in colour appearance was reversed for short compared to long wavelengths. We conclude that longitudinal chromatic aberrations, but not monochromatic aberrations, are involved in changing appearance of small lights with defocus. Additional neuronal mechanisms that may contribute to the colour changes are considered.
