近年、世界各地で超小型衛星(50kg 以下)の開発が盛んに行なわれている。超小型衛星は低コスト・短納期という特徴があるが、それは地上民生用の既製品(以下、COTS品)を利用することで成し遂げられることが多い。COTS 品は宇宙用に設計されたものではない。宇宙環境試験は、超小型衛星の信頼度向上に重要な役割を担っている。宇宙環境試験では、振動・衝撃・熱真空・熱サイクルなど、さまざまな種類の試験を行う。その中でも衝撃試験は、最も実施困難な試験のうちの一つで、未だ確実な手法が確立できていない。これらの状況から、超小型衛星用の衝撃試験機の開発が、超小型衛星市場の拡大や、信頼性の向上に繋がる急務であると判断し、研究・開発を進めるに至った。本論文の第1章では、研究背景や衝撃試験の評価方法のレビューを行い、ロンチャ―側・衛星開発者それぞれの立場における試験目的を説明している。ロンチャ―側が衝撃試験を行う目的の根幹にあるものは、主衛星の相乗りが基本である超小型衛星が、構造破壊や誤作動によって主衛星へ被害を及ぼさないことを確認することである。衛星開発者側の試験目的は、ロンチャ―の要求事項を満たすこととも言えるが、打ち上げや衛星分離によるダメージに耐え、無事に宇宙へ届けたいという思いも当然持っている。よって打ち上げ前に、衛星機能が衝撃環境に耐え得るかを確認することは、大いに意義のあることである。以上に加えて、超小型衛星向けの衝撃試験機がどのような要素を持つべきなのか考察を行い、最終的に、低コスト、衝撃レベルのコントロールしやすさ、再現性の良さを満たした試験方法の開発を、本研究の目的として定義している。第2 章では、衝撃試験機にどのようなタイプがあるかレビューを行い、超小型衛星用として最も適している試験方法を考察している。その中でも衝撃レベルの調整の自由度が大きい「機械的インパクト試験方式」が、最も超小型衛星に適していると判断した。その結果から、同じ「機械的インパクト試験方式」に分類される、コンパクトハンマー式やMO(前野・小口)バルブ式衝撃試験機(以下MO バルブ式)を製作したので、その紹介を行う。また、衝撃計測のプログラムとして、市販品は非常に高価な上にフルオートで計測・解析等ができない。そこで、汎用の計測制御ソフトであるLABVIEW®を用いて計測プログラムを作成した。この計測プログラムの特徴や使用方法についても説明する。第3 章では、第2 章で製作した2 つの試験機とさらにもう1 機(吊り上げ型錘落下式)を加えた3 機で、衝撃試験を行った結果を記載する。衝撃試験はダミー衛星を用いており、衝撃レベルの評価を行うベース部分及び、及びダミー衛星内部の衝撃レベルを比較し、考察を行った。その結果から、吊り上げ錘落下式が300Hz 以下で、衝撃レベルが不足しやすいこと、コンパクトハンマー式は、衝撃レベルを十分満足できる反面、300Hz~2000Hz で若干強めに出る傾向にあること、MO バルブ式が最もコントロールしやすい試験機であることを示している。第4 章では、実験とCAE(Computer Aided Engineering)解析の両方を比較検討することで、衝撃試験の問題点として挙げられる、低周波側の衝撃レベルを制御する手段を考案した。CAE 解析では、主に300Hz 以下の領域において実験値と解析値の比較を行った。その結果、衝撃レベルを判断する計測位置(衛星を設置するベース板)において、CAE解析値は実験値を最大約11%の誤差で再現できた。このように、先ず解析の精度を確認した上で、別の境界条件に応用した。本論文では、衛星を設置するベース板の摩擦係数に着目し、摩擦係数を変化させることで衝撃レベルを制御することを考えた。CAE解析を行った結果、300Hz 以下の低周波側において衝撃レベルが変化することが示され、仮説が実証された。第5 章では、本論文の総括を行い、コストや衝撃レベルのコントロール性や再現性の観点から、超小型衛星に適した衝撃試験方法は、MO バルブ式を用いたものであることを結論づけている。また、CAE 解析の今後の可能性についても言及した上で、今後の研究の方向性についてもまとめている。
