Esta dissertação analisa o processo de construção da gestão democrática da educação na Rede Municipal de Ensino de Getúlio Vargas-RS de 1993 a 2011, seus avanços, seus limites e suas contradições, na relação com o papel do Estado. Através de análises documentais, entrevistas e observação participante, neste estudo de caso observa-se a existência por mais de 18 anos de uma trajetória de construção da gestão democrática que se opõe a modelos importados ou feitos em gabinetes, principalmente de modelos gerencialistas. Estão entre os principais instrumentos de materialização da democratização da educação os projetos político-pedagógicos, a formação continuada, o plano de carreira do magistério, o Plano Municipal de Educação, eleições diretas das equipes diretivas das escolas e a constituição de conselhos escolares. Prevaleceu a participação direta em boa parte do processo em construção, principalmente entre o segmento de professores; em contrapartida, tardou a constituição e a efetivação dos conselhos escolares e houve pouca participação dos segmentos escolares na gestão das unidades. A adesão ao Plano de Desenvolvimento da Educação/Plano de Metas/Plano de Ações Articuladas não representou interferência no processo de gestão democrática, mas foi complementar, buscando atender às maiores deficiências diagnosticadas, ocorrendo uma aproximação do governo federal junto ao município, contribuindo para o fortalecimento da gestão democrática.

This dissertation analyzes the process of making the democratic management of education in municipal schools of Getúlio Vargas-RS from 1993 to 2011, its advances, limits and contradictions in relation to the role of the State. Through documental reviews, interviews and participant observation, in this case study it is shown the existence for over 18 years of a trajectory of making the democratic management that opposes models imported or made in offices, mainly managerial models. Among the main instruments of materialization of the democratic education are the political-pedagogical projects, the continued education, the career plan of teaching, the Municipal Education Plan, direct elections for school‟s management team and the establishment of school councils. The direct participation prevailed in much of the construction process, especially among the segment of teachers; in contrast, the constitution and the execution of school councils was delayed and there was little involvement of student segments in the management of units. Joining the Plan for Educational Development/Target Plan/Joint Action Plan did not represent interference in the process of democratic management, but was complementary to answer the greatest deficiencies diagnosed, occurring to the strengthening of democratic management.

Diese Masterarbeit war geeignet um mögliche Gründe dafür zu finden, warum die US-Regierung, nach Ihrem Rücktritt aus dem Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action im Mai 2018, Ihre Sanktionen auf iranische Ölexporte nicht sofort vollständig implementierten. Ein ökonometrisches Model wurde entwickelt um den Einfluss von veränderten globalen Ölvorraten auf weltweite Ölpreise festzustellen. Die Ergebnisse gaben Beweis um zu behaupten, dass es nach dem US-Austritt bis zum Ende der von der US-Regierung ausgegebenen Sonderfreigaben für das importieren von iranischen Öl in May 2019, keine Korrelation zwischen globalen Ölvorraten und Ölpreisen gab. Es wurde theoretisiert, dass entweder die gesunkenen iranischen Ölexporte soweit keinen Einfluss auf Ölpreise hatten, oder die US-Regierung sich mit den Sonderfreigaben Zeit gekauft hatte um den Ölmarkt vor den weiter sinkenden iranischen Ölexport zu stabilisieren. Des Weiteren, es wurde theoretisiert, dass es möglicherweise weitere politische Gründe für die Sonderfreigaben für Ölimporte gab. Dieses Forschungsprojekt hat herausgefunden, dass es globale Faktoren gibt die die Fähigkeit von Staaten um Sanktionen zu implementieren erschwert. Diese könnten die Effektivität von Sanktionen bedeutungsvoll limitieren.

This research project intended to find possible reasons why US policymakers were reluctant to immediately impose their secondary sanctions on Iranian oil products following the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in May 2018. An econometric analysis was conducted to determine the impact of changes to global oil supplies resulting from US sanctions on Iranian oil exports. Results provided evidence that fluctuations in oil supplies worldwide did not significantly affect global oil prices. It is theorised that either reductions in Iranian oil exports simply did not have an impact on global oil prices, or US authorities managed to take necessary measures to stabilise the market while their waivers were in effect. Further, due to the insignificant results in the econometric tests it was theorised that there may have been political reasons beyond oil prices that hindered the US from fully applying its secondary sanctions for a whole year. In summary, this research found that there may be important factors restraining the ability of states to impose sanctions, which may have a negative impact on the actual effectiveness of this economic instrument.

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Wahrnehmung des Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in der Islamischen Republik Iran und seiner Bedeutung für die iranische Außenpolitik. Sie analysiert, wie und in welcher Weise der JCPOA Bestandteil der iranischen außenpolitischen „Rechtfertigungslogik“ ist. Diese Rechtfertigungslogik, definiert als der hauptsächliche Rahmen, anhand dessen politische Entscheidungen beurteilt werden müssen, wird als Grundlage dieser Analyse dienen. Die im Rahmen dieser Arbeit durchgeführte Forschung basiert auf folgender Forschungsfrage: „Inwiefern hängt der Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action mit der iranischen außenpolitischen Rechtfertigungslogik zusammen?“ Diese Frage ist zweifellos politisch relevant, da das iranische Atomabkommen aus 2015 nach wie vor ein äußerst wichtiges Dokument mit weitreichenden Implikationen ist. Selbst nachdem US-Präsident Donald J. Trump den Austritt der USA aus dem JCPOA angekündigt hatte, dient das Atomabkommen nach wie vor als Beispiel für erfolgreiche Verhandlungen mit Ländern wie dem Iran. Darüber hinaus sind dessen Folgen im regionalen Kontext nach wie vor weitreichend. Trumps Entscheidung, sich aus dem Abkommen zurückzuziehen, beeinflusste nicht nur die anderen Mitglieder der P5+1-Gruppe, sondern auch Iran, die iranische Außenpolitik, sein Nuklearprogramm, und andere internationale Akteure wie beispielsweise Nordkorea. Da- her ist es essentiell den iranischen Standpunkt zu verstehen und ein Modell zu entwickeln, um zu erklären, warum bestimmte Staaten auf eine bestimmte Art und Weise auf Maßnahmen der internationalen Politik reagieren. Die Forschungsfrage dieser Arbeit basiert auf einem konstruktivistischen Verständnis des Systems der internationalen Beziehungen und der Iranischen Außenpolitik, da sie Wahrnehmungen, Ideen, Ideologien und Narrative ins Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit rückt. Das Konzept der Rechtfertigungslogik folgt diesem theoretischen Zugang. Die diesbezügliche Herausforderung ist jedoch, dieses Konzept und seine Terminologie zu definieren und herauszufinden, wie es sich manifestiert. Diese Probleme beeinflussen die Art und Weise in welcher Informationen über dieses Konzept und dessen wechselseitige Beziehung mit dem JCPOA gesammelt, analysiert und interpretiert werden. Um analysieren zu können, wie der JCPOA und die außenpolitische Rechtfertigungslogik des Iran zusammenhängen, ist es nötig, das Forschungsdesign an die spezifische Natur der Forschungsfrage anzupassen. Der methodologische Ansatz dieser Arbeit kombiniert daher qualitative Expertinnen- und Experteninterviews mit qualitativer Inhaltsanalyse, um Daten zu sammeln, zu extrahieren und zu analysieren.

▼ In this thesis, I would examine the discourse of Japan???s English language education reform for primary and secondary schools through the close reading of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology???s (MEXT) ??????Action Plan: Cultivating ???Japanese with English Abilities,?????? released in 2003. This document marked a critical touchstone of Japan???s drastic move for English curriculum change by suggesting the shift of national attitude from hesitancy to willingness in the name of change for the needs of language improvement. ???Action Plan??? served as a master plan for the MEXT by providing the attainment goals, key tasks, and benchmarks that would see fit to achieve in the next five years. It raised the public awareness and stirred up the public debate, for containing challenging proposals such as implementation of standardized English exams (TOEIC and TOEFL) for student assessment and teaching qualification, innovative teaching practices to high schools (i.e., Super English Language-High school[SEL-Hi]), and English as foreign language activities to primary schools. Specifically, first, I would discuss how Japan???s cultural ambivalence toward English language since the late 19th century sets up the contexts for nation???s historical struggle in upgrading the curriculum that draws the problems reflecting on the MEXT???s recent education policy proposal. Then, I would examine Action Plan???s attainment goals setting and key agendas highlighted as the MEXT???s main strategy, and analyze its critical issues and problems affecting the needs for both students and teachers. The issues include the mismatched targets, ill-defined goals setting, and benchmarks for academic achievements and project proposals aimed for teacher training and quality instruction (i.e., JET program, and Assistant Language Teachers [ALTs]). Finally, I would provide the implications for Action Plan???s impact on educational practice by assessing student???s learning achievement and target benchmarks set for students and teachers in the five years after its release. At the end of conclusion, I would offer the list of recommendations for effective administrative policy that could provide better teaching and learning practice in Japanese schools. ▼ As social beings, humans are continually required to act in combination with others. This joint action can only be successful if we are able to predict and integrate our predictions about the co-actors actions into our own action representation. These abilities are combined in a shared representation of the task, considering a joint task as one task, as opposed to two individual tasks for each actor. Research in joint action has focussed on the social Simon task, and numerous social manipulations have been carried out through this task. The shared-Stroop task is a fairly novel task designed to determine if linguistic tasks can be shared in the same way as spatial tasks can, through the generation of shared mental representations of the task. The current study draws upon the notion of social manipulation from the social Simon studies, and intergroup relationships as a focus based upon its significance in social psychological literature. It is expected that intergroup pairs will demonstrate less interference in the shared-Stroop task compared to intra-group pairs, and there will be greater interference when both partners responds to a (different) colour (joint response) compared to when only one partner responds to a colour (single response). The results did not support either expectation, however further analysis of participant ratings of group affiliation and group closeness found a significant difference in interference between the levels of group affiliation indicated by the participants, F(2,33)=3.928, p<0.05, r=0.48. This result indicate that physical pairings are less important to participants in terms of their reaction times on the shared-Stroop task, their perceptions of group affiliation and between group closeness are more influential on shared representations, and therefore reaction times. Furthermore a number of trends are noted, despite being non significant when tested. A number of limitations, and potential fixes for future research are discussed, along with some possible explanations for the lack of findings. ▼ A pesquisa objetivou compreender o processo de regulação da relação entre União e municípios do Rio Grande do Sul instituído a partir do Plano de Metas Compromisso Todos Pela Educação, por meio do Plano de Ações Articuladas (PAR). O Plano de Metas, concebido pelo Ministério da Educação, objetiva garantir o direito à educação básica com qualidade e equidade, ou seja, envolve qualificação de professores, adequada infraestrutura física das escolas, materiais pedagógicos em boa quantidade e adequados para cada etapa da educação básica, instituição de instrumentos da gestão democrática, práticas avaliativas que levem em consideração o processo de aprendizagem do aluno, entre outros elementos. O interesse pela pesquisa surgiu com a realização de um projeto de extensão relacionado à elaboração e implementação do PAR 2008-2011, quando foi observado que vinha ocorrendo um processo peculiar na articulação dos entes federados brasileiros na educação, processo este que supõe uma regulação das ações entre os entes federados no sentido de que a educação básica atinja o IDEB de seis pontos até 2020, o que, considerando parâmetros internacionais, indicaria uma educação de qualidade. A metodologia de pesquisa contemplou a análise de política pública, abrangendo análise de referenciais mais gerais da política, com ênfase no conteúdo do PAR (indicadores, ações e subações), e estudo da elaboração e implementação do PAR em municípios gaúchos. Com a pesquisa foi possível verificar que se estabelece uma forma de regulação embasada em metas a serem alcançadas. A política estabelece certa padronização das ações a serem desenvolvidas e da assistência técnica e financeira da União para com os demais entes federados. O PAR institui uma nova forma de relação entre os entes federados, na medida em que municípios e estados só recebem assistência técnica e financeira se atenderem aquilo que foi planejado como ações a serem executadas para a melhoria da educação. Essas ações podem ser de responsabilidade exclusiva da União, dos municípios e dos estados ou de responsabilidade compartilhada entre os entes federados. A regulação estabelecida pelo PAR nas relações entre os entes federados foi analisada em três categorias: regulação dos processos político-administrativos, que compreende as ações que se referem ao processo de gestão e de planejamento da educação; regulação pedagógica, que abrange as ações que devem ser realizadas no âmbito pedagógico; regulação normativa, que concerne a exigências de elaboração ou reformulação de leis, decretos, portarias e planos. Introduction Many researchers have been discovered that bridge deck slabs which were designed to fail in bending, mostly fail under punching shear mode at a higher load than the expected for bending, because of the effect of in-plane compressive membrane forces, induced by the lateral restrained boundary conditions. Punching and bending failure modes are going to be analysed taken into account the enhancement due to compressive membrane action in the transverse prestressed concrete slab. Problem definition The objective of this thesis is to investigate the effect of compressive membrane action (CMA) in combination with the transversely prestress under a static point load applied at the midspan of the bridge’s slab. Research The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effect of the compressive membrane action and transversely prestress of the ultimate punching and bending capacity of a concrete deck slab. To develop the analysis of this scientific topic, research questions have been posed giving an orientation into the research and indicating the guiding components of the investigation. 1. Develop an analytical model to predict the ultimate capacity of a transversely prestressed slab accounting for the CMA and TPL. 2. To what extent can the CMA and the TPL contribute to the punching shear and bending capacity of the slab? 3. Comparative Study: Theoretical approach versus Experimental results Results – Conclusions Simulating the transverse prestress as an imposed strain, the punching capacity is hardly affected by the different prestress levels (1% deviation) and the compressive membrane force slightly changes, leading to the conclusion that the theoretical approach underestimates the prestress. In flexural mode the bending capacity is higher than the punching shear leading to the conclusion that the slab will fail in punching shear. The ultimate capacity of the interior panel is higher than the exterior but the displacement is smaller because the higher stiffness of the interior makes it stiffer and less ductile. Recommendations 1. Prestress should be simulated as a progressing action until the failure stage, not as a constant effect. 2. Effective stiffness in punching shear has to account for the boundary conditions. 3. Compressive membrane action should be defined separately from the ultimate punching shear capacity.

▼ One of the most important questions that structural engineers all over the world are dealing with is the safety of the existing structures. In the Netherlands, there are a large number of transversely prestressed bridge decks that have been built in the last century and now need to be investigated for their structural safety under the actual (increased) traffic loads, for the rest of their service life. This research is an attempt to investigate the bearing (punching shear) capacity of such bridge decks under concentrated loads (wheel loads). Using the actual design codes for the verification of the bearing capacity leads to values suggesting that the safety standards are not met. However, since the bridge decks are laterally restrained by the supporting beams it is expected that compressive membrane action (CMA) exists in such deck slabs, and that the transverse prestressing of the deck slab in combination with CMA will enhance the bearing capacity, making thinner deck slabs possible with no problems of serviceability and structural safety. This thesis begins with an introduction to the research topic, listing briefly the background and the objectives, and concluding with the research strategy. A literature review regarding the punching shear capacity of transversely prestressed concrete decks and compressive membrane action has also been carried out. First, the general mechanism of punching shear and compressive membrane action is explained along with the relevant analysis methods and code provisions and then important experimental investigations done on prestressed deck slabs are briefly described. It is concluded that there is a need to investigate the bearing capacity of transversely prestressed concrete deck slabs supported by and connected to concrete girders using a large scale model since most of the past research is either done on concrete decks with steel girders or on small scale models. In order to investigate the research problem experimentally, laboratory tests on a 1:2 scale bridge model of a real bridge in the Netherlands have been performed. The model bridge consisted of a thin, transversely prestressed concrete deck (with unbonded tendons), cast in-situ between the flanges of long prestressed concrete girders. Prestressed transverse beams were also provided close to either end of the bridge deck. The interface between the deck slab and the girder flanges was either straight or skewed and two types of loads were applied: single and double. Loads were applied at midspan and close to the deck slab-girder flange interface. All the tests showed failure in punching shear (either brittle punching or flexural punching) regardless of the type and position of the load. Failure always occurred in the span of the slab, whereas the interface remained undamaged. Cette thèse concerne la mise en application de la théorie de l’action conjointe sur les activités d'apprentissage conçues comme des "jeux d'apprentissage" en relation plus ou moins assurée avec les "jeux épistémiques". La thèse vise à faire une analyse à priori du manuel de français du collège en Syrie. Cette analyse a été faite au niveau de l’enseignement de la grammaire et du vocabulaire considérés comme des jeux épistémiques sources. Deux grilles d’analyses ont été effectuées. La grille d’analyse du vocabulaire où huit points ont été analysés et la grille d’analyse de la grammaire où quatre points analysés.Ces deux grilles d’analyse ont permis de constater que le manuel syrien n'offre pas toujours des garanties sérieuses sur le lien entre jeux épistémiques sources, inspirés par les méthodologies de l’enseignement du vocabulaire et de la grammaire et les jeux proposés aux élèves.La mise en application de la théorie de l’action conjointe a aussi permis de :• Cerner facilement les jeux d’apprentissage des deux domaines (c’est-à-dire, les élèves vont avoir un texte ou un exercice sous les yeux comme un milieu).• Identifier les jeux épistémiques des deux domaines (les élèves jouent quel jeu).• Proposer de nouveaux jeux épistémiques.

This thesis concerns the implementation of the theory of the joint action in learning activities, designed as "learning games" activities in relation more or less insured with the "epistemic games".The thesis aims to make an a priori analysis of the French manual of the college in Syria. This analysis has been carried at the level of the grammar and the vocabulary teaching, considered like sources of epistemic games. Two analysis grids have been realized. In the vocabulary analysis grid eight points have been analyzed and in the grammar analysis grid we analyzed four points.These two analysis grids permitted to note that the Syrian manual doesn't always offer any serious guarantees on the tie between epistemic games sources, inspired by the methodologies of the teaching of the vocabulary and the grammar and the games proposed to the pupils.The implementation of the theory of the joint action also permitted of:• To surround easily the training games of the two fields (that means, the pupils are going to have a text or an exercise under the eyes like an environment.• To identify the epistemic games of the two fields (which game the pupils are playing?).• To propose new epistemic games.

Le projet de la thèse est de contribuer à la question de la nature du rapport entre apprentissage des savoirs scientifiques à l’école et production des savoirs au sein des communautés scientifiques à travers une analyse ascendante de plusieurs études de cas centrées sur l’enseignement / apprentissage des propriétés de la matière au sein de quatre contextes (primaire et secondaire, France et Suisse romande) dans lesquels les références s’avèrent assez contrastées pour produire des curriculums divergents sur certains points cruciaux de l’enseignement des sciences. Les éléments de théorisation retenus proviennent majoritairement de deux sources d’inspiration : la modélisation de l’action conjointe en didactique, selon laquelle l’enseignant et les élèves ajustent chacun leur propre ligne d’action en interprétant celle de l’autre, depuis les postures dissymétriques qui les caractérisent et l’approche pragmatiste de la construction des rapports aux objets, selon laquelle le rapport personnel d’un élève à un objet se construit à travers les interactions qu’il développe avec cet objet, dans l’ensemble des institutions dans lesquelles cet objet existe, que ce soit dans un cadre familial ou scolaire. L’approche pragmatiste nous a amenés à accorder une place importante à la façon dont les rapports aux objets construits par les élèves évoluent en classe, au regard des rapports aux objets que l’institution scolaire entreprend de stabiliser. Les différentes analyses mettent en évidence des connexions entre la (dis)continuité de cette évolution des rapports aux objets telle qu’elle est vécue par les élèves et les différents schémas d’action professoraux mis en oeuvre dans les classe, qui peuvent être modélisés par des principes structurant l’action issus de différents niveaux de détermination : didactique, pédagogique, scientifique, philosophique et épistémologique. Sous certaines conditions, les situations contraintes par des éléments de modélisation qui sont donnés aux élèves en début de séquence semblent faciliter la continuité de l’expérience d’apprentissage des élèves. Une réflexion sur les implications de la transposition de certains aspects des pratiques scientifiques de référence clôt notre travail.

The aim of this study is to investigate the nature of the relationship between the learning of scientific knowledge at school and the production of knowledge within scientific communities through a bottom-up analysis of several case studies centered on the teaching / learning of the properties of matter in four contexts (primary level and lower secondary level, France and Westerm Switzerland) in which the curricula references are varied. The theoretical framework comes mainly from two paradigms: the joint action in didactics, according to which the teacher and the students each adjust their own line of action by interpreting that of the other and the pragmatist approach, according to which the meaning-making towards particular objects is developed through the interactions students have with these objects, in all institutions…

▼ Research studies have demonstrated that membrane action is primarily a compressive load carrying mechanism that can significantly improves the load-bearing capacity of reinforced concrete beams during extreme loading scenarios such as column loss. However, the behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) beam assemblages under membrane action has not been thoroughly explored and therefore, the development of the compressive (arching) and tensile (catenary) membrane actions in RC beams should be investigated further by experimental and analytical studies. Membrane action is affected by various parameters such as compressive strength of the concrete, reinforcement ratio and transverse reinforcement of the beam. However; previously conducted researches indicate that compressive membrane (arching) action is not considerably influenced by reinforcement ratio which was shown to be the critical parameter in development of the tensile membrane (catenary) action. Also, both translational and rotational stiffness of end supports have significant influence on development of membrane action. Development of membrane action in RC members is typically associated with geometrical as well as material nonlinearities (including concrete cracking and crushing, reinforcing bar yielding and fracture) and due to these strong nonlinearities, most of the existing implicit finite element (FE) models and simplified analytical methods fail to adequately capture the compressive and tensile membrane behaviour of RC elements. The main focus of this research project is to experimentally and numerically investigate development of membrane action in RC beam assemblages. In the experimental program, influence of various parameters including concrete compressive strength, reinforcement bar arrangement and ratio and boundary conditions on the membrane response of RC beam assemblages following a column loss scenario are investigated. Furthermore, two different classes of nonlinear FE models, i.e. a 1D discrete frame and a continuum-based FE models are developed and data obtained from the experimental program are employed to verify and validate the developed FE models. Using a simplified approach, the influence of steel bar rupture is incorporated into the formulation of an existing flexibility-based frame element and it is shown that the proposed strategy has the ability to adequately model the rupture of steel bars and its implications at global level.

▼ Three components, a pallet, packaging, and material handling equipment, of the unit load portion of the supply chain are physically and mechanically interacting during product storage and shipping. Understanding the interactions between two primary components, a pallet and packaging, in a unit load is a key step towards supply chain cost reduction and workplace safety improvement. Designing a unit load without considering physical and mechanical interactions, between those two components, can result in human injury or death caused from a unsafe workplace environment and increased supply chain operating costs, due to product damage, high packaging cost, disposal expense, and waste of natural resources. This research is directed towards developing predictive models of the compressive stress distributions using the principle of the beam on an elastic foundation and experimentally quantifying the compressive stress distributions. The overall objective of this study is to develop a model that predicts compressive stress distributions at the interface between a pallet deck and packaging as a function of: pallet deck stiffness, packaging stiffness, and pallet joint fixity. The developed models were validated by comparison to the results of physical testing of the unit load section. Design variables required for modeling included Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) of pallet deckboards, Rotation Modulus (RM) for nailed joints, and packaging stiffness. Predictive models of the compressive stress distributions were non-uniformly distributed across the interface between pallet deckboards and packaging. Maximum compressive stresses were observed at the deckboard ends over stringer segments. All predictive compressive stress distributions were influenced by pallet deck stiffness, packaging stiffness, and joint fixity. The less the joint fixity the greater the pallet deck deflection. The stiffer deckboards are more sensitive to joint fixity. For predictive compressive stress distribution models, the measure of the stress concentrations was the Compressive Stress Intensity Factor (SIF), which was the ratio of the estimated maximum compressive stress to the applied stress. Less stiff pallets and stiffer packaging resulted in greater SIF for all end condition models. SIF was reduced by stiffer joint, stiffer pallet deck and more flexible packaging. The stiffer the pallet deck and pallet joint the greater the effective bearing area. The lower stiffness packaging resulted in the greater effective bearing area with all three packages. The predicted effective bearing area was more influenced by pallet deck stiffness than the packaging stiffness. The developed prediction models were validated by comparison to experimental results. Qu’elle soit extranationale, transnationale ou internationale par nature, l’infraction internationale est toujours construite de la même manière : elle naît de la réunion d’un élément matériel et d’un élément moral, incluant parfois un élément contextuel. Cette constance structurelle dominant la diversité définitionnelle milite en faveur d’une unification des formes de la participation associées à ces infractions internationales : la spécificité de la participation à l’infraction internationale résiderait donc dans la spécificité, non des formes de la première, mais de la définition de la seconde. D’ailleurs, il n’existe que deux grands systèmes de participation applicables à l’infraction internationale : celui des juridictions pénales nationales et celui des juridictions pénales internationales. De leur comparaison, pourrait naître un système unique de participation à l’infraction internationale, permettant de mieux appréhender la criminalité collective en attribuant aux participants intellectuels une place plus juste au sein de la participation. En effet, après quelques adaptations nécessaires, il pourrait être fait appel au critère mixte du contrôle sur l’infraction internationale, développé récemment par la Cour pénale internationale, pour distinguer les formes principales des formes secondaires de la participation à l’infraction internationale. Ainsi, seraient des participants principaux les agents qui, avec l’état d’esprit idoine, prennent le contrôle de l’infraction internationale (coauteurs et auteurs intellectuels), tandis que seraient des participants secondaires les agents qui ne prennent pas un tel contrôle (complices par aide ou assistance et subordonnants).

Can it be extranational, transnational or international by nature, the international crime is always the same : it needs the reunion of a material element and a moral element, sometimes including a contextual element. This structural constancy, which dominates the definitional diversity, inclines us to campaign for the unification of the participation forms associated to the whole international crimes. In other words, the specifity of the participation in the international crime would be less due to the specifity of the first one’s forms than to the specifity of the second one’s definition. ▼ Joint actions, such as lifting and moving objects with a partner, are fundamental to human co-operation. In the present thesis, I sought to build upon a growing body of literature that investigates the role of spontaneous cognitive processes (i.e., processes that occur even when there is no joint action goal) in joint action. Specifically, I aimed to test whether the presence of a co-actor modulates our perception of affordances, or the set of actions that an object allows an observer. To this end, I adapted an object-based two-choice paradigm, in which participants make left/right responses to unilaterally graspable objects, for joint responding. Typically, response times (RTs) in such tasks are faster when the task-irrelevant handle orientation of the viewed objects is aligned with the responding hand. This object-based compatibility effect (CE) is often taken as evidence that viewed objects elicit motor activation consistent with their afforded grasp, even when there is no grasp intention. In Study 1, participants (N = 48) completed individual and joint versions of an object-based two-choice task. However, I failed to replicate the object-based CE in the standard (i.e. individual) two-choice task, instead finding a numerical negative CE (NCE). In Study 2 (Ns = 36), I conducted two experiments to test whether Study 1’s failure to replicate the CE could be due to pixel asymmetry (the proportion of pixels either side of fixation) modulating the object-based CE. I show that between-object (due to object shape) and within-object (due to object placement) variation in pixel asymmetry can attenuate, or even reverse, CEs. In light of finding that stimulus spatial properties modulated the object-based CE, I sought to determine whether the effect was indicative of affordance perception at all. In Study 3, I meta-analyzed the object-based CE to test whether it is better explained by spatial coding accounts, which propose that the effect is merely an example of a broader class of spatial CEs elicited by the unilaterally protruding handles of objects. Analysis of 88 independent effects (from 2359 participants) revealed a small, yet significant CE, as well as evidence of publication bias. Further, moderator analysis offered little support for affordance-based explanations of the object-based CE. Rather, results supported a spatial coding account. To test whether viewed objects can facilitate compatible responses at all, I asked participants in Study 4 to complete a novel Bimanual Affordance Task (BMAT), which sidesteps spatial confounds by featuring symmetrical stimuli. I observed the expected affordance x response compatibility effect, such that unimanual responses were faster to unimanually graspable objects, while bimanual responses were faster to bimanually graspable objects. ▼ Although performing social motor activities is a fundamental property of ongoing human behavior (e.g. Bekkering et al., 2009; Richardson, Marsh, & Schmidt, 2010; Riley, Richardson, Shockley, & Ramenzoni, 2011) the scientific understanding of how co-actors perform these coordinated motor acts remains lacking. Historically, motor control research has been dominated by the hypothesis that the central nervous system is responsible for controlling the trajectories and contributions of each neuromuscular and skeletal component necessary to perform a motor task (e.g. Keele, 1968; Lashley, 1951; Prinz, 1997). However, contemporary theorists have argued that the human perceptual-motor system is tightly coupled to the physical and informational dynamics of a task environment and that these dynamics operate to constrain the high-dimensional order of the human movement system into low-dimensional, task-specific synergies (e.g. Fonseca & Turvey, 2009; Kelso, 2009; Riley et al., 2011). The term synergy is used to refer to a functional grouping of structural elements (neurons, muscles, limbs, individuals, etc.) that are temporarily constrained to act as a single coordinated unit. The objective of this thesis was to examine whether synergistic processes constrain and organize the behavior of co-acting individuals performing a discrete joint-action task. Twelve pairs of participants sat next to each other and each used one arm to complete a bimanual pointer-to-target task. Using the uncontrolled manifold (UCM), the structure of joint-angle variance (compensated vs. uncompensated) was examined to determine whether there was synergistic organization of the degrees of freedom employed at the interpersonal (across participants) or intrapersonal (within participants) levels. The results revealed that task performance improved over the course of the study and that the motor actions performed by co-actors were synergistically organized at both the interpersonal and intrapersonal levels. More importantly, the interpersonal synergy was found to be stronger than the intrapersonal (right actor/arm; left actor/arm) synergies, which is consistent with the hypothesis that the action dynamics of co-acting individuals can become temporarily organized to form a single synergistic two-person system.
