今日,いろいろな現象をモデル化し,その現象を微分方程式などの基礎方程式で解析する研究が進められてきた.したがって,微分方程式を解いたり,積分を計算したりするなどの連続数学の問題を解くことの需要が非常に高い.コンピュータでこのような数学的問題を解くための方法として数式処理と数値計算がある.数式処理は数を任意精度で表し,かつ計算をコンピュータで記号的に扱うものであり,記号的あるいは代数的な解法が知られていない問題においては数値計算による近似的な解法を用いる必要があるが,記号的な計算が行われるために計算結果は厳密となる.本論文では複雑な数式処理及び数値計算が必要となる,ダフィング方程式の周期解のガレルキン法による近似を,コンピュータ代数システムであり,また数値計算ツールも利用できるMuPADを用いて行い,その性能を検証する.
