▼ Image reconstruction and motion estimation are very important for image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Three-dimensional reconstruction of patient anatomy using X-ray computed tomography (CT) allows identification of the location of a tumor prior to treatment. The locations of tumorsmay change during actual treatment due to movement such as respiratory motion. Motion estimation helps optimize the accuracy and precision of radiotherapy so that more of the normal surrounding tissue can be spared. This dissertation addresses several important issues related to these two core components of IGRT. Firstly, we developed two new separable footprint (SF) projector methods for X-ray conebeam CT. The SF projectors approximate the voxel footprint functions as 2D separable functions. The SF-TR projector uses trapezoid functions in the transaxial direction and rectangular functions in the axial direction, whereas the SF-TT projector uses trapezoid functions in both directions. Both SF projector methods are more accurate than the distance-driven (DD) projector, which is a current state-of-the-art method in the field. The SF-TT projector is more accurate than the SF-TR projector for rays associated with large cone angles. In addition, the SF-TR projector has similar computation speed with the DD projector and the SF-TT projector is about two times slower. Secondly, we proposed a statistical penalized weighted least-squares (PWLS) method with edge-preserving regularization to reconstruct two basis materials from a single-energy CT scan acquired with differential filtration, such as a split filter or a bow-tie filter. It requires only the use of suitable filters between the X-ray tube and the patient. For both filtration methods, the proposed PWLS method reconstructed soft tissue and bone images with lower RMS errors, reduced the beam-hardening artifacts much more effectively and produced lower noise, as compared with the traditional non-iterative Joseph and Spital method. Thirdly, we conducted an objective characterization of the influence of rotational arc length on accuracy of motion estimation for projection-to-volume targeting during rotational therapy. Simulations illustrate the potential accuracy of limited-angle projection-to-volume alignment. Registration accuracy can be sensitive to angular center, tends to be lower along direction of the projection set, and tends to decrease away from the rotation center. Denna studie görs inom det arbetslivspedagogiska fältet och behandlar arbetsrotation på ICA-butiker. Syftet är att undersöka hur arbetsrotation sker hos medarbetare inom olika ICA-butiker och vilken betydelse det får för lärandet. Lärandet som undersöks är hur individer kan tillgodogöra sig yrkeskunskap utifrån de läroprocesser och lärandesituationer som uppstår i samband med arbetsrotation. De teoretiska verktyg som används grundar sig i Ellströms feed-forward och feed-back faser, de tre regleringsnivåerna av lärande samt en teori om subjektiva och objektiva handlingsutrymmen. Studien använder sig även av Börnfelts teori om en formell och informell organisation. Den metod som använts är kvalitativ och grundar sig i öppna intervjuer med åtta anställda från ICA-butiker med olika butiksformat, med det syftar vi till ICAs butiksformat; Nära, Supermarket, Kvantum och Maxi. Intervjuerna har transkriberats och analyserats ner till fyra olika teman; Arbetets innehåll, Avvikande situationer, Formellt Medarbetarskap och Informella Relationer. Resultatet visar att om anställda roterar mellan avdelningar eller ställs inför utmaning öppnar det upp individers handlingsutrymme, vilket leder till feed-forward faser som i sig genererar lärosituationer där anställda kan lära sig på en begreppslig- och intellektuell nivå. I flertal butiker bestämmer den formella organisationen det objektiva handlingsutrymmet men studien visar att den informella organisationen kan skapa sitt eget objektiva handlingsutrymme. Detta ställer visserligen krav på att det förekommer ett subjektivt handlingsutrymme i form av kunskap eller erfarenhet. I de butiker där ett tydligt objektivt handlingsutrymme ges tenderar anställda att hjälpa varandra inom och över avdelningar i högre utsträckning. I studien konstateras också att arbetsrotation gynnas av kollegiala relationer. Resultatet av studien kan användas för att vidare studera arbetsrotationens inverkan på lärande. Studien kan med fördel användas av yrkesverksamma inom ICA-butiker i syfte att få ökad förståelse för vilka konsekvenser som kan förbindas med införandet av arbetsrotation.

This paper examines job-rotation in ICA-stores within the pedagogy of working life. The purpose of this study is to determine how job-rotation works in ICA-stores and its relevance to learning from a employee perspective. The area of learning that we are investigating is how individuals assimilate knowledge from their professions through learning processes and situations during a job-rotation. The theoretical tools used in this study are based on Ellströms views on the feed-forward and feed-back phases, on Ellströms three levels of learning to conceptualise the act of learning, and finally on the theory of the subjective and objective spaces of action in regards to the learning situation. Voltage stability assessment and improvement form the core function in a modern power system operation and control. The voltage stability can be identified through various stability factors. In this work, line stability index is used to calculate the stability of each line in the considered IEEE test systems by using the conventional power flow algorithm. When this index value changes from 0 to 1, the voltage stability of the system relatively decreases. In order to improve the system voltage stability the Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) is installed in the most severe line, which is identified from the line stability index. Due to the non-linear nature of the voltage stability assessment problem, neural networks can be used for voltage stability monitoring. In this work, a single Feed Forward Back Propagation Network (FFBPN) with minimal number of neurons is used. From the results obtained the severe lines are determined. The effectiveness of this method has been demonstrated on the two IEEE test systems. Based on the ranking of the lines under various load conditions, this work identifies the optimal location of TCSC among the severe lines for the voltage stability improvement. Genetic algorithm approach is also investigated for the voltage stability analysis and its enhancement. Using Genetic Algorithm (GA), the optimal line for TCSC placement and the optimal value of capacitive reactance of TCSC to be inserted are identified based on the minimization of the maximum value of line stability index under normal and under different single line contingencies with varying load conditions. Moreover, the GA parameters such as mutation rate, crossover rate and population size are also optimized in this work. This algorithm has been tested successfully on the considered IEEE test systems. From the simulation results of proposed approaches, it has been ascertained that there is considerable improvement in voltage stability after placing TCSC. newline

▼ VANET (Vehicular ad hoc network) has a main objective to improve driver safety and traffic efficiency. Intermittent exchange of real-time safety message delivery in VANET has become an urgent concern, due to DoS (Denial of service), and smart and normal intrusions (SNI) attacks. Intermittent communication of VANET generates huge amount of data which requires typical storage and intelligence infrastructure. Fog computing (FC) plays an important role in storage, computation, and communication need. In this research, Fog computing (FC) integrates with hybrid optimization algorithms (OAs) including: Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA), Firefly algorithm (FA) and Firefly neural network, in addition to key distribution establishment (KDE), for authenticating both the network level and the node level against all attacks for trustworthiness in VANET. The proposed scheme which is also termed “Secure Intelligent Vehicular Network using fog computing” (SIVNFC) utilizes feedforward back propagation neural network (FFBP-NN). This is also termed the firefly neural, is used as a classifier to distinguish between the attacking vehicles and genuine vehicles. The proposed scheme is initially compared with the Cuckoo and FA, and the Firefly neural network to evaluate the QoS parameters such as jitter and throughput. In addition, VANET is a means whereby Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) has become important for the benefit of daily lives. Therefore, real-time detection of all form attacks including hybrid DoS attacks in IEEE 802.11p, has become an urgent attention for VANET. This is due to sporadic real-time exchange of safety and road emergency message delivery in VANET. Sporadic communication in VANET has the tendency to generate enormous amount of message. This leads to the RSU (roadside unit) or the CPU (central processing unit) overutilization for computation. Therefore, it is required that efficient storage and intelligence VANET infrastructure architecture (VIA), which include trustworthiness is desired. Vehicular Cloud and Fog Computing (VFC) play an important role in efficient storage, computations, and communication need for VANET. This dissertation also utilizes VFC integration with hybrid optimization algorithms (OAs), which also possess swarm intelligence including: Cuckoo/CSA Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Firefly/Genetic Algorithm (GA), in additionally to provide Real-time Detection of DoS attacks in IEEE 802.11p, using VFC for Intelligent Vehicular network. Vehicles are moving with certain speed and the data is transmitted at 30Mbps. Firefly FFBPNN (Feed forward back propagation neural network) has been used as a classifier to also distinguish between the attacked vehicles and the genuine vehicle. The proposed scheme has also been compared with Cuckoo/CSA ABC and Firefly GA by considering Jitter, Throughput and Prediction accuracy.

▼ The radio imaging method (RIM) is a cross-hole electromagnetic (EM) method which employs radio frequency EM waves to estimate the electric properties between boreholes. RIM is applied in hard rock mining to find and delineate sulfide mineral deposits. A basic and relatively simple method for imaging and interpreting RIM data is the straight-ray method. However, the strengths and weaknesses of the straight-ray method and other more sophisticated methods have not been studied thoroughly. In the first part this research, I modelled RIM data using a finite element package, Comsol Multiphysics. To validate the Comsol approach, I compared the Comsol model data with the analytical solution of an electric dipole in a homogeneous whole-space model, and some published analytical solutions and numerical solutions of models with conductive objects. The Comsol generated data are consistent with the analytical and the published results. Secondly, I used Comsol synthetic data to assess the effectiveness of the straight-ray method for interpreting RIM data and to study the characteristics of the radio-frequency EM fields. I studied four sets of models with conductive objects embedded in resistive environments, which resemble ore deposits in mining settings. The experiments show that the characteristics of the EM fields mainly depend on the wavelength. Longer wavelengths are associated with lower frequencies. In this condition, EM induction is strong. Shorter wavelengths are associated with higher frequencies. In this condition, the scattering effects of EM waves dominate. In the radio-frequency range, I concluded that the straight-ray method cannot always provide high quality imaging results for RIM data. To account for the scattering effects, I adopted the contrast source inversion (CSI) method, which was originally developed for microwave tomography in medical imaging, to invert the RIM data. The CSI method was tested with Comsol synthetic data and field data. The synthetic studies show that the CSI method provides images with more accurate locations and shapes of the conductive objects when compared with the straight-ray method. The case studies show that CSI imaging results are more consistent for data collected at different frequencies and are easier to interpret geologically.

The presence of water makes life possible on this planet. Our existence and our economical activities are very dependent on this resource. Proper management of the available water is therefore essential. This research is part of the operational level of quantitative water management, which concerns the daily operation of the water system infrastructure (sluices, gates, pumping stations, etc.). It is done in collaboration between the Delft University of Technology and the Irrigation Training and Research Center in San Luis Obispo, California. The research object is the southern part of the Delta-Mendota Canal (DMC) between the O’Neill Forebay and the Mendota Pool and flows through the western part of the San Joaquin Valley, California. These 75 km of the DMC are divided by nine check structures, creating eight reaches with an average length of 9.4 km. The canal was completed in 1951 and is mainly essential for irrigation supply. The upstream controlled structures consist of three parallel radial gates and two short crested weirs. At the downstream end of each reach an irrigation district has its turnouts located, to distribute water from the canal to the users. The controlled irrigation system cannot respond fast enough to large downstream water demands, resulting in water level deviations in the downstream reservoir. With a faster response, the size and duration of the water level deviations can be reduced. Several requirements apply: 1. the 'solution' has to be an additional component to the controller so that the robustness of the present control system is not affected; 2. only the measuring points upstream of each check structure may be used and 3. the communication frequency is limited to once every 5 minutes. One solution is found in a feed forward controller in combination with re-tuned constants. An alternative solution is formed by a temporary flow controller, but special attention is necessary when dealing with varying turnout flows.

▼ User’s everyday outgrowing demand for high-data and high performance mobile devices pushes industry and researchers into more sophisticated systems to fulfill those expectations. Besides new modulation techniques and new system designs, significant improvement is required in the transceiver building blocks to handle higher data rates with reasonable power efficiency. In this research the challenges and solution to improve the performance of wireless communication transceivers is addressed. The building block that determines the efficiency and battery life of the entire mobile handset is the power amplifier. Modulations with large peak to average power ratio severely degrade efficiency in the conventional fixed-biased power amplifiers (PAs). To address this challenge, a novel PA is proposed with an adaptive load for the PA to improve efficiency. A nonlinearity cancellation technique is also proposed to improve linearity of the PA to satisfy the EVM and ACLR specifications. Ultra wide-band (UWB) systems are attractive due to their ability for high data rate, and low power consumption. In spite of the limitation assigned by the FCC, the coexistence of UWB and NB systems are still an unsolved challenge. One of the systems that is majorly affected by the UWB signal, is the 802.11a system (5 GHz Wi-Fi). A new analog solution is proposed to minimize the interference level caused by the impulse Radio UWB transmitter to nearby narrowband receivers. An efficient 400 Mpulse/s IR-UWB transmitter is implemented that generates an analog UWB pulse with in-band notch that covers the majority of the UWB spectrum. The challenge in receiver (RX) design is the over increasing out of blockers in applications such as cognitive and software defined radios, which are required to tolerate stronger out-of-band (OB) blockers. A novel RX is proposed with a shunt N-path high-Q filter at the LNA input to attenuate OB-blockers. To further improve the linearity, a novel baseband blocker filtering techniques is proposed. A new TIA has been designed to maintain the good linearity performance for blockers at large frequency offsets. As a result, a +22 dBm IIP3 with 3.5 dB NF is achieved. Another challenge in the RX design is the tough NF and linearity requirements for high performance systems such as carrier aggregation. To improve the NF, an extra gain stage is added after the LNA. An N-path high-Q band-pass filter is employed at the LNA output together with baseband blocker filtering technique to attenuate out-of-band blockers and improve the linearity. A noise-cancellation technique based on the frequency translation has been employed to improve the NF. As a result, a 1.8dB NF with +5 dBm IIP3 is achieved. In addition, a new approach has been proposed to reject out of band blockers in carrier aggregation scenarios. The proposed solution also provides carrier to carrier isolation compared to typical solution for carrier aggregation. I det fall flera beskattningsår slutar i förlust får de läggas till tidigare förluster och sparas ackumulerade för att rullas framåt på obestämt tid. Reglerna avseende förlustutjämning har funnits lagstadgat sedan 1960 och de resonemang som finns i föregående utredningar gäller i mycket fortfarande idag. Idag återfinns reglerna för denna förlustreglering, underskottsavdrag, i Inkomstskattelagens (1999:1229) 40:e kapitel och har sedan införandet genomgått många förändringar i form av både förenklingar och spärrande lagstiftning. Grunderna i lagstiftningen finns dock kvar i dagens lagstiftning avseende metoder och förhållningssätt. Lagstiftaren vidhåller sin ståndpunkt medan flera aktörer på marknaden som är kunniga på området ifrågasätter vissa förhållningssätt och regleringar främst i form av spärrlagstiftning. Regelverket har ett allmänt rykte om sig att vara krångligt och svårtolkat men dess konstruktion försvaras av lagstiftaren genom att det krävs så pass avancerad lagstiftning för att uppfylla grundsyftet med spärrlagstiftningen, att hindra handeln med s.k. skalbolag. Spärrarna i lagstiftningen aktiveras av förändringar i ägarkonstruktionen vid förvärv av andelar i ett underskottsföretag. Det finns flera alternativ till resultatutjämning som tillämpas och tillämpats av flera länder internationellt sett och de svenska utredningarna alla fokuserat på samma metod – förlustavdrag genom carry forward. Metoden innebär att ett beskattningsårs förlust får sparas genom att rullas framåt och kvittas mot ett efterföljande års positiva resultat. Förutom denna metod finns även två andra sätt att genomföra ett förlustavdrag. Det finns en metod som innebär utjämning bakåt i tiden, carry back, samt en fullständig metod, recoupment, som leder till en negativ skatt för ett förlustår. En av huvudorsakerna till svårigheterna med tillämpningen av lagen anses ligga i de många odefinierade och tvetydliga begrepp kapitlet innehåller. Det saknas sedan tidigare tydliga definitioner av deras innebörd i förarbeten vilket leder till problem vid tolkningen av reglernas verkan. Ramen för regelverket har istället i mångt och mycket klargjorts genom praxis vilket i huvudsak reglerar tillämpningen av detta kapitel i Inkomstskattelagen (IL). För att förhindra möjligheten till undandragande av skatt genom handel med förlustbolag, skalbolag, infördes även en spärrlagstiftning.
