In recent years, there is an increased incidence of detachment of tiles on the buildings facades. This is due to several factors, among which we highlight the temperature variation that causes cyclical stress on the facades, especially at the interface of rendering / dry-set mortar / ceramic, provoking its fatigue failure. In this sense, given that the rendering is "it coating body" that serves as support for other layers, the objective this research is study the behavior of mortar coating subjected to cyclic compressive loads. For this, initially, the characterization of industrial mortars and mixed mortar were conducted and then a methodology for fatigue test under compression for the same has been proposed. With the results obtained in test static compression, is can set the stress levels used in the fatigue test. The S-N curve (alternating stress vs. number of cycles) for mortar subject to fatigue under compression is obtained from the number of cycles required to rupture. Observe that the limit of fatigue resistance of the mortar under compression specifically mortars used in the tests is 7.53 MPa for industrial mortar, while the mixed mortar the value found is 6.26 MPa. These values correspond to approximately 73% of static resistance of industrialized mortar and mixed mortar, respectively. Finally, to evaluate the fatigue resistance of mortars is adopted the curve Coulomb-Mohr in the state plan and state three-dimensional, which are drawn with the values of fatigue resistance for 1 cycle and 106 cycles of loading, where is can define a region where there is not concern about the under fatigue rupture.

Nos últimos anos, observa-se um aumento na incidência de descolamento de placas cerâmicas nas fachadas das edificações. Isto se deve a inúmeros fatores, dentre os quais destaca-se a variação de temperatura que provoca solicitações cíclicas nas fachadas, sobretudo na interface argamassa de emboço/argamassa colante/cerâmica, até a sua ruptura por fadiga. Nesse sentido, sabendo-se que o emboço constitui o corpo do revestimento que serve de suporte para as outras camadas, o objetivo desta pesquisa é estudar o comportamento das argamassas de revestimento do emboço submetidas a carregamentos cíclicos de compressão. Para isto, inicialmente, foram realizados ensaios de caracterização das argamassas industrializadas e argamassas mistas, sendo em seguida proposta uma metodologia de ensaio de fadiga sob compressão para as mesmas. Com os resultados obtidos nos ensaios de compressão estática, é possível definir os níveis de tensão empregados no ensaio de fadiga. A partir do número de ciclos necessários para a ruptura, é traçada a curva S-N (tensão alternada versus número de ciclos) das argamassas de emboço sujeita à fadiga sob compressão. Observa-se que o limite de resistência à fadiga sob compressão especificamente das argamassas empregada nos ensaios é de 7,53Mpa para a argamassa industrializada, enquanto que para a argamassa mista o valor encontrado é de 6,26MPa. ▼ Ce projet de maîtrise présente l’étude du comportement en fatigue d’un matériau composite tissé, qui utilise la technique d’émission acoustique (EA) pour la détection de l’initiation des dommages de fatigue. Ce travail fait partie du projet de recherche CRIAQ-COMP 407 dont le but est de développer une approche de prédiction de l’initiation de l’endommagement dans les composites tissés qui sont soumis à des chargements cycliques. Une méthode de localisation par émission acoustique a été introduite pour localiser les sources d’ondes de contraintes émettant dans la zone autour d’un défaut artificiel inséré préalablement dans l’échantillon. Les essais de fatigue ont été réalisés sous différentes conditions environnementales et la détection des seuils d’initiation des endommagements a permis de générer des courbes de durée de vie (courbes S-N). La comparaison des courbes S-N entre elles a permis d’évaluer l’influence de chacune de ces conditions sur la durée de vie en fatigue. Par la suite, une méthode de classification a été développée en combinant la carte de Kohonen et la méthode des k-moyennes. Cette approche a permis d’établir une corrélation entre les différents endommagements et les signaux acoustiques détectés. Ce mémoire est organisé en quatre chapitres: le premier chapitre présente l’état de l’art de l’application des matériaux composites, l’importance de la caractérisation de son comportement en fatigue, et le contexte général du projet de recherche. Dans le chapitre II, une revue exhaustive de la littérature est présentée. Les travaux de recherche traitant du comportement des composites tissés sous chargement statique et en fatigue ont été synthétisés. Ce chapitre contient aussi une revue sur les techniques d’analyse et de traitement des signaux d’émission acoustique utilisés pour suivre les modes d’endommagement en fatigue et pour reconnaitre les différentes classes des endommagements de fatigue. Le chapitre III présente les essais expérimentaux, les traitements des données et les techniques d’inspection. Premièrement, les échantillons utilisés dans les différents essais sont présentés et les vitesses de propagation des ondes de Lamb ont été estimées. Ensuite, les essais statiques et les essais en fatigue sont présentés, et les méthodes pour déterminer les seuils de l’initiation et de la propagation du défaut en se basant sur les analyses des signaux d’émission acoustique sont aussi présentées. Les courbes S-N pour la prédiction ont été établies en se basant sur les différents seuils de l’initiation des endommagements de fatigue obtenues. L’influence des facteurs environnementaux sur le comportement en fatigue a été mise en évidence en comparant les différents courbes S-N obtenues pour chaque condition d’essai. La dernière partie du chapitre présente un travail de classification non supervisé et les résultats de classification ont été vérifiés par les deux techniques d’inspection : la tomographie et le C-scan. [pt] Esta pesquisa teve como objetivos promover variações microestruturais em um ferro fundido nodular ferrítico tipo ASTM A536 60-40-18, pelo do uso de resfriadores durante a solidificação do material e pela adoção de tratamentos térmicos pós-fundição, bem como avaliar a influência de tais variações microestruturais sobre as propriedades mecânicas e vida em fadiga do material. Inicialmente, amostras do material foram fundidas em areia com e sem o uso de resfriadores. Após a fundição, algumas amostras de ambas as condições de resfriamento sofreram normalização, enquanto outras foram recozidas, perfazendo seis diferentes condições microestruturais: sem resfriador bruta de fundição (SRB); sem resfriador normalizada (SRN); sem resfriador recozida (SRR); com resfriador bruta de fundição (CRB); com resfriador normalizada (CRN) e com resfriador recozida (CRR). Em seqüência, corpos de prova de todas as condições mencionadas acima foram ensaiados em tração e, posteriormente, sofreram análises metalográficas qualitativas e quantitativas. Dando continuação a etapa experimental, levantaramse as curvas tensão versus número de ciclos para a falha das condições microestruturais SRB, SRR, CRB e CRR, por meio de ensaios de fadiga em flexão rotativa. A vida em fadiga do material também foi relacionada com às características metalúrgicas de cada condição.

[en] The objectives of the present work were to promote microstructural variations in an ASTM A 536 60-40-18 ferritic nodular cast iron, making use of cast coolers during and adopting heat treatments after casting, as well as to evaluate the influence of the microstructural variations on the mechanical properties and fatigue life of the material. Initially, samples of the material were cast in sand moulds with and without internal coolers. After casting, a number of samples in both cooling conditions were subjected to normalizing and annealing heat treatments and, therefore, six different microstructural conditions were obtained: as- cast without cooler (SRB), normalized without cooler (SRN), annealed without cooler (SRR), as-cast with cooler (CRB), normalized with cooler (CRN) and annealed with cooler (CRR). Tensile test were carried out on specimens representing the above mentioned conditions and their microstructures were analysed by qualitative and quantitative metallography. In the sequence of the experimental procedure, rotating bend fadigue test were performed in order to establish the stress-life curves for the SRB, SRR, CRB and CRR microstructural conditions. The fadigue life of the material was also related to the metallurgical characteristics of each condition. The metallographic analysis has indicated that the use of coolers increases the number of graphite nodules, reduces the graphite nodule size and otimizes the spherical morphology. However, these microstructural modifications seam to have no significant influence on the mechanical properties of the material. Carpinteri e Spagnoli propuseram uma modificação em seu próprio modelo, substituindo por outros parâmetros os limites de resistência à fadiga em flexão f−1 e torção t−1 para ensaios totalmente reversíveis, introduzindo na equação uma variável nf que permitiu realizar uma previsão de vida em fadiga finita. A metodologia consistiu em obter experimentalmente curvas de Wohler para tração e torção referentes ao aço DIN 42CrMo4 a fim de obter os parâmetros m e m(asterisco), que são os coeficientes angulares das mesmas em escala log-log, produzindo meios para a aplicação do critério. Como o equacionamento do modelo não apresenta solução analítica, foi desenvolvido uma solução numérica para obter junto ao critério uma previsão teórica de vida em fadiga. Adicionalmente, o estudo busca discutir acerca de uma possível relação direta entre amplitude de tensão normal, amplitude de tensão cisalhante e número de ciclos para falha. O modelo em si apresentou consistência parcial com os experimentos, tendo sido assertivo nos ensaios de torção pura, mas discrepante em ensaios de tração pura. [en] Infinite-life multiaxial fatigue criteria had only the ability to evaluate whether or not fatigue failure is to occur to a mechanical componente once subjected to multiaxial fatigue loadings. Carpinteri e Spagnoli proposed a modification to their own model, substituting both fully reversed bending and torsion fatigue endurance limits, f1 and t−1 respectively, introducing into the equation a new variable nf, allowing the model to predict the fatigue-life of the mechanical component. The main goal of the presente study is to assess the accuracy of the modified model via experiments. The research methodology consisted in determining m and m (asterisk), which are the slopes of the S-N curves for fully reversed bending and torsion experiments on regards to DIN 42CrMo4 steel when plotted into a log-log scale, providing means to apply the model. Since there is no analytic solution to the model, the criterion s equation has to be solved numerically. Furthermore, the present study discusses the possibility of a direct relation between amplitude of normal stress, amplitude of shear stress and number of cycles to failure. The modified Carpinteri & Spagnoli s criterion proved itself to be partially consistent, presenting both accurate predictions of torsional fatigue-life and discrepant results for axial loadings. ▼ This dissertation examines an important yet woefully understudied aspect of Hern�n Cort�s after the conquest of Mexico. The Marquisate of the Valley of Oaxaca was carefully constructed during his lifetime to be his lasting legacy in New Spain. The goal of this dissertation is to reexamine published primary sources in light of this new argument and integrate unknown archival material to trace the development of a lasting legacy by Cort�s and his direct heirs in Spanish colonial Mexico. Part one looks at Cort�s's life after the conquest of Mexico, giving particular attention to the themes of fame and honor and how these ideas guided his actions. The importance of land and property in and after the conquest is also highlighted. Part two is an examination of the marquisate, discussing the key features of the various landholdings and also their importance to the legacy Cort�s sought to construct. This analysis is extended into the second and third generation of the marquisate, an aspect of Cort�s's legacy mostly ignored by scholars, to trace the success or failure of various developments. In looking at Cort�s and the marquisate in its entirety (as compared to regional studies), it becomes clear that the marquisate was more important to Cort�s than previous historical literature indicates, as it was directly tied to his desire to construct a legacy in New Spain as well as his ideas of fame and honor. Cort�s utilized the marquisate not only for economic gain, but for political and social goals as well. Through showing that Cort�s was devoted to the development and growth of his marquisate, this research highlights the legacy Cort�s sought to construct in Mexico, and the impression he hoped to make on Mexico beyond the conquest. Cort�s controlled the largest estate in New Spain, and how he and his heirs managed that land would fundamentally shape New Spain and the history of Mexico. La courbe S-N est le moyen le plus courant d'analyse et de prédiction de la durée de vie d'un matériau, d'un composant ou d'une structure. Cependant, les modèles standards, qu'ils soient basés sur la théorie de la rupture ou sur des modèles probabilistes n'ajustent pas la courbe dans la totalité sans information sur la microstructure du matériau. Or, cette information provient d'analyses fractographiques souvent coûteuses et rarement disponibles dans le cadre d'une production industrielle. D'un autre côté, les modèles statistiques ne proposent pas d'interprétation matériau et ne peuvent pas être utilisées pour réaliser des prévisions. Les résultats d'un test de fatigue sont par ailleurs très dispersés, plus particulièrement pour les fortes durées de vie, lieu d'apparition d'un phénomène de bi-modalité. Ces constats sont la raison de la proposition d'un nouveau modèle probabiliste. Celui-ci est composé d'un modèle de mélange spécifique, prenant en compte l'approche apportée par la mécanique de la rupture sans nécessiter de d'information supplémentaire sur la microstructure du matériau. Il utilise le fait que la fatigue peut être vue comme la somme d'un amorçage de fissure suivi de sa propagation. Les paramètres du modèle sont estimés à l'aide d'un algorithme EM, où la phase de maximisation combine une méthode d'optimisation de Newton-Raphson et une intégration de type Monte-Carlo. Le modèle "amorçage-propagation" offre une représentation parcimonieuse des courbes S-N dont les paramètres peuvent être facilement interprétés par des ingénieurs matériau. Ce modèle a été testé à l'aide de simulations et appliqué à des données réelles (données sur l'Inconel 718). Ceci nous a permis de mettre en évidence le bon ajustement du modèle à nos données, et ce, pour toutes les déformations disponibles.

S-N curve is the main tool to analyze and predict fatigue lifetime of a material, component or structure. But, standard models based on mechanic of rupture theory or standard probabilistic models for analyzing S-N curves could not fit S-N curve on the whole range of cycles without microstructure information. This information is obtained from costly fractography investigation rarely available in the framework of industrial production. On the other hand, statistical models for fatigue lifetime do not need microstructure information but they could not be used to service life predictions because they have no material interpretation. Moreover, fatigue test results are widely scattered, especially for High Cycle Fatigue region where split S-N curves appear. This is the motivation to propose a new probabilistic model. This model is a specific mixture model based on a fracture mechanic approach, and does not require microstructure information. It makes use of the fact that the fatigue lifetime can be regarded as the sum of the crack initiation and propagation lifes. Realizar uma investigação histórica sobre o estabelecimento de contatos entre grupos indígenas da etnia Paresí e agentes da Comissão de Linhas Telegráficas Estratégicas do Mato Grosso ao Amazonas, representantes do Estado republicano, constitui um dos focos do estudo. Sinalizar as articulações administrativas historicamente construídas entre a Comissão Rondon e a Inspetoria Regional do Serviço de Proteção aos Índios para o estado do Mato Grosso constitui o eixo da pesquisa. [en] Reflect on the concept of territorialization as a political and cultural transformation of ethnic territories in state territories is one of the goals of this dissertation. Carry out an historical investigation of the establishment of contacts between ethnic groups and state agents of Strategic Telegraph Commission of Mato Grosso to Amazonas, the state republican representatives, is a focus of the study. Point out the administrative articulations historically built between the Rondon Commission and the Regional Inspectorate of the Indian Protection Service for the state of Mato Grosso is the hub of research. Through the re-baptism of strategic points in the geographical area inhabited by indians and the installation of telegraph stations and indian posts in the region of Mato Grosso, military agents promote a process of nationalization, colonization and land use planning that would lead to profound transformations on indigenous groups. The construction of a telegraph station and an indian post in a region baptized by Rondon produce the state territory. The indians, in turn, participatory of the historical process and builders of their own territoriality, establish new political alliances with external actors driven by the interest of their communities.

▼ Tavunloppuisen /s/:n aspiraatio ja poisjättö on espanjan kielessä laajasti levinnyt ilmiö, jonka merkitys on kiistaton sekä kielen historian että dialektologian ja sosiolingvistiikan näkökulmasta. Tässä tutkielmassa perehdytään tavunloppuisen /s/:n heikentymiseen Extremaduran espanjassa, jossa ilmiö on yksi variantin tunnusomaisimmista piirteistä. Aikaisemmat tutkimukset osoittavat, että /s/:n aspiroituminen on yleisempää sanan sisällä kuin sen lopussa ja että sen poisjättö ja reaalistuminen sibilanttina ovat yleisempiä sanan lopussa kuin sen sisällä. Toisaalta myös äänneympäristö vaikuttaa tavunloppuisen /s/:n allofonien esiintymisfrekvenssiin: aspiraatio on yleisintä ennen konsonanttia, ja sibilanssin säilyminen ja frikatiivin poisjättö on yleisempää ennen vokaalia ja taukoa kuin ennen konsonanttia. Niissä konteksteissa, joissa /s/:n poisjättö ja reaalistuminen sibilanttina ovat yleisimpiä, konservatiivisimmat variantit suosivat sibilanssin säilymistä kun taas innovatiivisimmissa varianteissa dominoi poisjättö. On myös ehdotettu, että tavunloppuisen /s/:n reaalistuminen sibilanttina olisi yleisempää pohjoisessa Extremadurassa kuin autonomian eteläosissa, ja vastaavasti sibilantin poisjättö olisi yleisempää etelässä kuin pohjoisessa. Kyseisen tutkimuksen tulokset ovat suuntaa-antavia, mutta kielivät kielellisen, pohjois-etelä -suuntaisen jatkumon olemassaolosta. Tutkielman tavoitteena on vahvistaa kyseisen jatkumon olemassaolo sekä selvittää, noudattaako Extremaduran espanjan tavunloppuinen /s/ aiemmissa tutkimuksissa määriteltyjä universaaleja tendenssejä. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu kolmestatoista sosiolingvistisestä haastattelusta, jotka ovat osa Madridin Universidad Autónomassa kerättyä Corpus Oral y Sonoro del Español Rural – korpusta ja joiden äänitteet ja ortografiset transkriptiot ovat saatavilla korpuksen omalla internetsivustolla. Haastatteluista etsitään esimerkkejä tavunloppuisesta sibilantista erilaisissa kielellisissä konteksteissa. Esimerkit transkriboidaan foneemisesti, minkä jälkeen käsitellyn aineiston pohjalta suoritetaan laskelmia tavunloppuisen /s/:n reaalistumisesta. Tutkimus osoittaa, että sibilanssin säilyminen on yleisempää Pohjois-Extremadurassa kuin sen eteläosissa ja että frikatiivin poisjättö on yleisempää etelässä kuin pohjoisessa. Lisäksi tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan todeta, että tavunloppuinen /s/ reaalistuu Extremaduran espanjassa pääosin aikaisemmissa tutkimuksissa määriteltyjen tendenssien mukaisesti. Näin ollen Pohjois-Extremaduran alueella tutkitut variantit voidaan luokitella konservatiivisiksi ja eteläisessä Extremadurassa analysoidut variantit innovatiivisiksi varianteiksi.

A premissa do estudo compreende a existência de forças de poder nos retratos sobre o Islã no jornalismo internacional. Sabe-se que o Islã, em termos culturais e políticos, apresenta maior visibilidade a partir dos atos de 11 de setembro de 2001. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa entende que esse momento desempenha, na história, um fenômeno político de forte impacto e significação ideológica. Como objeto de análise, o estudo aborda as representações discursivas (Análise de Discurso) e as interconexões com (e do) Islã na Folha de S. Paulo e no Estado de S. Paulo, tendo por corpus o material publicado pelos jornais, na Editoria Internacional, nos 15 dias anteriores e posteriores à data que marcou, historicamente, os 10 anos do ataque às Torres Gêmeas. A tese também faz um inventário histórico-cultural da formação do Oriente Moderno e do Islã, da construção do Diferente na história e do Outro-Islã, além do resgate do jornalismo internacional. Observou-se, nas generalizações e nas simplificações das representações do Islã da mídia analisada, um retrato aproximado das ações dos fundamentalistas islâmicos, instruindo o contexto complexo do Islã como o Outro, o Diferente da história atual, denegando a ele suas atribuições culturais de autenticidade e de alteridade.

The premise of the study include the existence of forces of power in the portrayals of Islam in international journalism. It is known that Islam, in cultural and political terms, has increased visibility from the acts of September 11, 2001. In this sense, the research finds that this moment plays in history, a political phenomenon of strong impact and ideological significance. As the object of analysis, the study addresses the discursive representations (Discourse Analysis) and the interconnections with (and) Islam in the Folha de S. Paulo and the Estado de S. Paulo, with the corpus of the material published by the newspapers, the International Editorial Board, within 15 days before and after the date that marked historically, 10 years of the attack on the Twin Towers. The thesis also makes an inventory of historical and cultural formation of the East and Modern Islam, the construction of the story Unlike Islam and the Other, and the rescue of international journalism. There was, in generalizations and simplifications of the media representations of Islam analyzed, an approximate depiction of the actions of Islamic fundamentalists, instructing the complex context of Islam as the Other, the different current history, denying him his cultural attributes of authenticity and otherness.

Aujourd'hui, nos appareils électroniques sont de plus en plus densément composés de composants nanoélectroniques. En conséquence, la dissipation de chaleur produite dans ces circuits augmente également énormément, provoquant une déperdition d’énergie considérable, en pure perte. Les effets thermoélectriques entrent en jeu ici car ils permettent d'utiliser cette chaleur perdue pour produire un travail utile. Par conséquent, l’étude du transport thermique et de l’effet thermoélectrique dans les nanostructures revêt une importance significative du point de vue scientifique et technologique.Dans cette thèse, nous présentons nos études expérimentales du transport thermique et thermoélectrique dans différents types de dispositifs à un seul électron, où le flux électronique peut être contrôlé au niveau de l'électron unique. Tout d’abord, nous montrons la mesure du transport de chaleur contrôlé par la grille dans un transistor à un seul électron (SET), agissant comme un commutateur thermique entre deux réservoirs. Nous déterminons la conductance thermique à l’aide d’un bilan thermique en régime permanent prenant en compte les différents chemins du flux de chaleur. La comparaison de la conductance thermique du SET avec sa conductance électrique indique une forte violation de la loi de Wiedemann-Franz.Deuxièmement, nous étendons l’étude du transport thermique dans les dispositifs à un seul électron dans le régime de boîte quantique, où, outre les interactions de Coulomb, il faut également prendre en compte les différents niveaux électroniques discrets. Nous discutons du bilan thermique entre deux réservoirs de chaleur couplés par un seul niveau de point quantique, et de la dissipation des électrons tunnel dans les contacts. Cela produit des formes de diamant de Coulomb dans la carte de température électronique de la source, en fonction de la polarisation et de la tension de grille.Enfin, nous présentons la mesure du transport thermoélectrique dans une jonction à boîte quantique unique, du régime de couplage faible au régime de couplage fort Kondo. Nos expériences introduisent une nouvelle façon de mesurer le pouvoir thermoélectrique en réalisant une condition de circuit ouvert quasi-parfaite. Le pouvoir thermoélectrique dans une boîte faiblement couplée montre le comportement e-périodique avec la charge induite par la grille, alors qu’il montre une période distincte de 2e en présence de corrélation Kondo. L’étude de la dépendance thermique révèle que la résonance de Kondo n’est pas toujours au niveau de Fermi, mais qu’elle peut être légèrement décalée, en accord avec les prédictions théoriques.Cette étude ouvre la porte à l’étude de transistors à une boîte quantique unique dont les propriétés thermodynamiques sont régies par les lois de thermodynamique quantique.

Ces travaux centrés essentiellement sur la fonction thiohydroximate s’articulent selon trois thèmes : (1) les acides thiohydroxamiques, (2) la synthèse et (3) l’étude de réactivité des N-oxydes de thioimidate (TINOs), avec pour objectif l’étude d’une enzyme : la S-glucosyltransférase (S-UGT). La S-UGT est une enzyme clé dans la formation des glucosinolates. Les travaux menés ont tout d’abord été axés sur la synthèse d’acides thiohydroxamiques, substrats de la S-UGT, pour l’étude cinétique de l’enzyme. Dans ce but, nous avons envisagé différentes méthodes et avons pu obtenir les molécules ciblées, permettant ainsi d’obtenir des résultats préliminaires quant à la cinétique de l’enzyme. D’autre part, la synthèse d’iminosucres, inhibiteurs potentiels de l’enzyme, a été envisagée par une double fonctionnalisation d’un N-oxyde de thioimidate (TINO) sur charpente pyranose. Nous avons donc développé une méthode robuste d’accès aux TINOs à partir de différents pyranoses. Le couplage de Liebeskind-Srogl a permis d’accéder aux nitrones. Des additions-éliminations sur les TINOs nous ont donné accès à des N-oxydes d’amidine et à de nouveaux TINOs. Les réactions de réduction et de débenzylation des TINOs ont également été explorées. Des tentatives de cycloaddition 1,3-dipolaire sur une nitrone ont été effectués en vue d’obtenir à des isoxazolidines, précurseurs d’iminosucres Alpha, Alpha-disubstitués. Les résultats concernant la synthèse d’inhibiteurs de la S-UGT restent préliminaires. Toutefois, après déprotection, les différentes molécules synthétisées durant cette thèse pourront être envisagées comme inhibiteurs de glycosidases.

This thesis is articulating into three topics: (1) synthesis of thiohydroxamic acids, (2) the synthesis and (3) the study of the reactivity of thioimidate N-oxides (TINOs). The purpose of these works is the study of the enzyme: S-glycosyltransferase (S-UGT). The enzyme S-UGT is an essential enzyme for the glucosinolate formation.The starting point of these works was focused on the synthesis of thiohydroxamic acids. These products are the substrates of the enzyme S-UGT and could be used for the study of the enzyme kinetic. The second point is to use TINOs anchored on pyranose backbones as precursors of iminosugars which are potential inhibitors of the enzyme S-UGT. An efficient methodology was developed to access a large panel of TINOs from different pyranoses. Liebeskind Srogl coupling allowed us to obtain nitrones. Addition-elimination on TINOs gave us amidine N-oxides and new TINOs. Reduction and debenzylation reactions on TINOs were also explored. 1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition attempts on a nitrone were performed to obtain isoxazolidines which are precursors Alpha, Alpha-disubstituted iminosugars. The results recording the synthesis of S-UGT inhibitors remain preliminary. However, after deprotection, the different molecules, synthesised during this thesis, will be tested as glycosidase inhibitors.

Le phénomène de défaillance par fatigue peut apparaitre à des niveaux de contraintes éloignés du seuil de dimensionnement statique de mécanique des milieux continus, tout simplement du fait que l’endommagement suit un processus complexe et de longue haleine. Disposer d’outils performants de prévision de durée de vie en fatigue est donc une nécessité de conception pour le dimensionnement des machines, composants, structures, par natures soumises à des sollicitations variables dans le temps, liée à leur utilisation en service. Pour contribuer à cet objectif nous nous sommes attachés à une conception concernant les outils les plus fréquemment utilisés pour ces prévisions en fatigue : les critères multiaxiaux de fatigue et les lois d’endommagement et de cumul en fatigue. La première partie du travail effectué a consisté en une étude de validité et d’analyse de nouveaux critères de fatigue multiaxiaux proposés depuis une dizaine d’années. Cette validité est comparée vis-à-vis de celle des critères implantés dans l’industrie. L’approche intégrale dont le principe est l’établissement du caractère endommageant d’un cycle multiaxial par la contribution des sollicitations présentes sur tous les plans physiques et non un seul comme le cas de l’approche « plan critique », est la plus efficace en règle générale pour traduire correctement le comportement en fatigue sous chargement multiaxial. L’intégration d’une démarche probabiliste proposée permet d’associer la probabilité de survie aux résultats de calcul d’un critère. La seconde partie de cette thèse a conduit à proposer de nouveaux modèles différentiels d’endommagement permettant de retrouver, dans le cas d’un chargement d’amplitude constante, le formalisme classique des courbes S-N des matériaux (Wöhler, Basquin, Bastenaire et Stromeyer). L’influence de l’ordre d’apparition des cycles de contraintes, les valeurs moyennes, l’évolution non linéaire du dommage par fatigue sont ainsi prises en compte. Le problème de sensibilité du modèle et donc ses prévisions de durée de vie en fatigue uniaxiale d’amplitude variable, comme cela est rencontré dans le modèle de Chaboche, est ainsi écarté. La confrontation du modèle proposé pour les courbes S-N de Basquin et Bastenaire est prometteuse en terme de prévision de duré de vie. Une étude comparative par rapport à la loi de Miner, prise comme référence, avec celles proposée et de Mesmacque & Amrouche à donnée des résultats concluants pour les lois à évolution non linéaire.

Biologija - Morfologija, fitohemija i sistematika biljaka / Biology - Plant morphology, phytochemistry and systematics

Analizirana je morfološka i fitohemijska varijabilnost, kao i diferencijacija prirodnih populacija taksona roda Satureja (Lamiaceae) sa prostora Balkana. Morfološki karakteri su izmereni kod 366 individua iz 27 prirodnih populacija S. montana ssp. montana, S. montana ssp. variegata, S. montana ssp. pisidica, S. kitaibelii, S. subspicata ssp. subspicata, S. subspicata ssp. liburnica. Proučavano je 12 morfoloških karaktera (šest karaktera lista i šest čašice). Karakteri čašice su pokazali mnogo manju intrapopulacionu varijabilnost i bolje su odslikavali razlike između taksona, naročito podvrsta unutar vrste S. subspicata. Primenjene univarijante i multivarijantne statističke metode su pokazale različite stepene diferencijacije na različitim nivoima u zavisnosti od vrste. Diferencijacije populacija je pokazana kod S. kitaibelii i delimično kod S. subspicata. Dve podvrste S. subspicata se na osnovu morfoloških karaktera jasno odvajaju. U slučaju S. montana nisu uočene diferencijacije, ni na jednom nivou, zbog velike intrapopulacione varijabilnosti. Uočene su korelacije morfoloških karaktera i pojedinih bioklimatskih parametara, uglavnom vezanih za temperaturu i padavine. Takođe, kod S. subspicata postoji i pozitivna korelacija između morfoloških karaktera i geografskog regiona, što nije bio slučaj kod druge dve vrste. Određen je sastav i relativni udeo komponenti površinskih flavonoida izolovanih sa celih listova kod 108 individua iz 25 prirodnih populacija sa Balkana. Detektovano je 11, a identifikovano 10 jedinjenja. Kod populacija S. subspicata ssp. subspicata je bilo prisutno svih 11 jedinjenja, dok je u zavisnosti od populacije broj jedinjenja kod druge dve vrste varirao 5-10 (S. montana) i 7-10 (S. kitaibelii). U profilu S. montana u većini slučajeva dominiraju 5,6- diOH-7,3'4'-triMe flavon i cirzimaritin, kod S. kitaibelii ksantomikrol i cirzimaritin, a unutar S. subspicata ksantomikrol i cirzimaritin (ssp. liburnica), odnosno ksantomikrol i 8- metoksicirzilineol (ssp. subspicata). Udeo ksantomikrola je najveći kod populacija S. subspicata ssp. liburnica (skoro 60 %). Površinski flavonoidi, analizirani statističkim metodama, na celom setu podataka, pokazuju diferencijaciju između vrsta, uključujući i podvrste. Najviše se odvaja tipska podvrsta S. subspicata od svih ostalih taksona. Iako podvrsta S. montana ssp. montana pokazuje najveću varijabilnost, kontinentalne populacije ove podvrste se preklapaju sa populacijama S. kitaibelii s jedne, dok se primorske preklapaju sa populacijama S. montana ssp. variegata, s druge strane. Populacije S. subspicata ssp. liburnica se po sastavu flavonoida nalaze između ovih primorskih i kontinentalnih populacija. Uočena je korelacija sastava površinskih flavonoida i geografske distribucije populacija, jaka kod S. subspicata i S. kitaibelii, a slaba kod S. montana...

[pt] No Brasil o Estado é privilegiado quando litiga judicialmente, dispondo de vantagens não disponíveis para o cidadão. A pesquisa pretende contextualizar a fundamentação dos privilégios processuais da União, chamando a atenção para a sua emergência e permanência ao longo do tempo, buscando os modos de justificação do tratamento desigual observado na relação entre Estado e sociedade no processo judicial. Parte da sugestão inicial de que tais modos de justificação encontram portadores entre os operadores do direito e circulam socialmente porque cons ubstanciam tipos ideais de representação da soberania. Reconhece a desigualdade de tratamento conferido ao homem comum nas suas lides com o Estado e, sendo os operadores do direito o grupo que melhor conhece a existência desses privilégios, investiga os modos pelos quais essa desigualdade é justificada nesse grupo, bem como as percepções dissonantes, articulando os modos de justificação encontrados com concepções ideais distintas sobre o tema da soberania em circulação no Brasil.

[en] The Brazilian state enjoys privileges in the judicia l process not available to ordinary citizens. This research contextualizes the foundation of the state s procedural privileges, highlighs their emergence and permanence and seeks forms of justification for such unequal treatment observed within the state-society relationship in the judicial process. This investigation begins with the initial proposal that legal professionals reproduce these forms of justification and that they are present in society because represent ideal types of sovereignty representation. Recognizing the inequality of treatment that the common citizen faces in struggles with the state, and because legal professionals comprise the segment most familiar with existence of these judicial process privileges, this research investigates the varieties of ways they justify such inequality. Lastly, it explores conflicting perceptions, connecting the forms of justification found with differing idealized notions of sovereignty in Brazil.

[pt] Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar a vida-fadiga de dois ferros fundidos nodulares modificados metalurgicamente, sendo uma classe predominantemente ferrítica e outra.perlítica. Inicialmente, amostra dos dois ferros fundidos nodulares ferrítico e perlítico foram fundidas adotando-se moldação em areia na geometria padrão Y-block. Em seqüência, corpos de prova para ensaios mecânicos e de fadiga foram usinados das amostras ferríticas e perlíticas. Após os ensaios de tração e dureza, realizaram-se análises metalográficas qualitativas e quantitativas em ambos os materiais, com o intuito de se determinar suas características metalúrgicas, tais como contagem, distribuição e classe dos nódulos de grafita, bem como quantidade da matriz ferrítica e perlítica. Dando continuidade a etapa experimental, as curvas tensão versus número de ciclos para a falha do ferro fundido nodular ferrítico e do ferro fundido nodular perlítico foram levantadas por meio de ensaios de flexão rotativa. A vida útil em fadiga dos dois materiais foi relacionada com as suas características metalúrgicas. Quanto a resistência à fadiga, as amostras do ferro fundido nodular perlítico tiveram um melhor comportamento sob carregamento cíclico do que as amostras do ferro fundido nodular ferrítico. Tal comportamento superior foi atribuído a maior microdureza da matriz e a presença da estrutura olho-de-boi. Finalmente, as curvas experimentais tensão versus número de ciclos para a falha dos ferros fundidos nodulares ferrítico e perlítico foram modeladas pela equação de Coffin-Manson, que se mostrou eficiente no tratamento de dados experimentais da vida em fadiga de ambos os materiais.

[en] The objective of the present work was to evaluate the fatigue life of two nodular cast irons with metallurgical modifications and resulting in ferritic and perlitic different classes of material. Initially, samples of both materials were cast in sand moulds adopting the standard Y-block geometry. In the sequence, tensile and fatigue specimens were machined from the ferritic and perlitic samples. After the tensile and hardness tests, the microstructure of the both materials were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative metallography, aiming to characterize their metallurgical aspects as content, distribution and class of graphite nodules, as well as the contents of the ferritic and perlitic matrix. Following the metallurgical characterization, rolating bend fatigue tests were performed in order to estabilish the stress-life curves of the ferritic and perlitic nodular cast irons. Regarding the fatigue resistance, the specimens machined from the perlitic nodular sample showed a longer fatigue life than that related to the ferritic nodular specimens. The longer fatigue life of the perlitic nodular specimens was associated with a higher microhardness of the perlitic matrix and the preserve of the bull`s-eye structure. [pt] A presente dissertação apresenta a relação entre o processo de formação das identidades, as dinâmicas de gênero e as práticas de marginalização da diferença no genocídio ruandês de 1994. Mais especificamente, o objetivo principal é avaliar de que maneira a produção da diferença – em particular, a diferença de gênero – atua constitutivamente no imaginário local, permitindo a adoção da violência sexual fomentada pelo Estado ruandês. Nesse âmbito, demonstramos a interconexão entre o corpo político do Estado e a política do corpo, possibilitando a construção da identidade nacional baseada no gênero e inscrita no corpo físico do indivíduo. A pesquisa evidencia a violência sexual como uma prática política, informada por uma construção social calcada no gênero, na qual o corpo das mulheres Tutsis se torna objeto de intervenção estatal. O arcabouço teórico que fundamenta as análises parte das contribuições das perspectivas pós-estruturalistas de gênero, fundamentais para examinar como identidades móveis e plurais são combinadas e construídas social e culturalmente de modo a estabelecer uma interseção que delineia o perfil do grupo-alvo, informando os tipos de violência a serem perpetrados na tentativa de construção de uma comunidade homogênea e pura.

[en] The dissertation presents the relationship between the process of identity formation, gender dynamics and practices of marginalization of difference in the Rwandan genocide of 1994. More specifically, the main purpose is to assess how the production of difference - in particular, gender difference – acts constitutively in the local imaginary, allowing the adoption of sexual violence fostered by the Rwandan state. In this context, the research highlights the interconnection between the body politic and body-politics, allowing the construction of national identity based on gender and entered in the individual s physical body. Therefore, it is argued that sexual violence is a political practice, informed by a gendered social construction, in which Tutsi women s bodies becomes the object of state intervention. The theoretical framework underlying the analysis is based on the contributions of gender poststructuralist perspectives, contemplating the dynamic in which plural and mobile identities are combined and socially constructed in order to establish an intersection that outlines the profile of the target group, specifying the type of violence being perpetrated in an attempt to build a pure and homogenous community.

▼ The development of alternative techniques for structural rehabilitation is of critical importance to the safety and sustainability of concrete structures suffered from corrosion of steel. The structural strengthening (SS) and impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) are conventional methods to improve the safety and sustainability of corroded concrete structures at different perspectives. The SS can recover the load-carrying capacity of deteriorated concrete structures, while the ICCP can retard the corrosion of steel in concrete. Currently, a new strategy to integrate ICCP with SS has been proposed that is termed as ICCP-SS intervention system. Fabric reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites have emerged as an alternative reinforcement material to fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for structural strengthening and rehabilitation. The carbon-FRCM composite can be adopted as the dual-functional material in the ICCP-SS system in which carbon- FRCM plays the role of reinforcement material in the SS system and of anode material in the ICCP system. To this end, an experimental program was undertaken to propel the application and optimization of the ICCP-SS intervention system. This study aims to clarify the characterization of RC beams with externally bonded carbon- FRCM under static and cyclic loading. Two carbon-FRCM composites were considered for this research, one with multilayer carbon-FRCM (M/C-FRCM) intended for understanding the effectiveness of carbon-FRCM in strengthening beams and one with anodically polarized carbon- FRCM (AP/C-FRCM) for evaluating the mechanical degradation caused by anodic polarization in the ICCP on the strengthening characterization of RC beams. From the material perspective, the mechanical properties of both M/C-FRCM and AP/C-FRCM composites were also studied. The first study investigates the static performance of RC beams with externally bonded M/CFRCM. The static tensile tests of M/C-FRCM were conducted, followed by the four-point bending tests of beams with externally bonded M/C-FRCM under static loading. Nine M/C-FRCM specimens were prepared for tensile tests, and four beams were prepared for bending tests. The prediction model of apparent strain of carbon fabric (CF) mesh in the M/C-FRCM was proposed based on the global strain of carbon-FRCM in tension. The load-carrying capacity of beams with externally bonded M/C-FRCM improved that was largely dependent on the amount of CF mesh. An analytical study on the prediction formulas in flexure for RC beams with externally bonded carbon- FRCM was performed by using the model of apparent strain of CF mesh. Prediction results agreed well with the experimental results. The second study explores the fatigue performance of RC beams with externally bonded M/CFRCM. The cyclic tensile tests of M/C-FRCM were performed and followed by the four-point bending tests of beams with externally bonded M/C-FRCM under cyclic loading.
