【目的】スポーツマウスガードにシリコーンラバーを用いるために電子レンジでマイクロ波重合を行い成形加工できることが示されている.本研究の目的は,選別したシリコーン材のマイクロ波重合による機械的性質を評価し,マウスガードに応用するための最も優れた重合条件を検討することである.【材料】シリコーンは厚生労働省告示第595号食品衛生法第10条第1項に準拠した液状シリコーン:ベースX-32-3155/キャタリストCX-32-3155 (信越化学工業社,東京)を用いた.また対象群として市販材料のCapS(エチレン酢酸ビニル共重合体,(株)松風,京都)とMG21(ポリオレフィン, CGK社,広島)を対象群とした.【方法】1. 試験項目は引張試験JIS K6251,引裂強さ試験JIS K6252,硬さ試験JIS K6253,衝撃吸収試験,内部気泡の観察とした.2. 試験片は各試験片原型製作後,FRPフラスコに石膏埋没し,硬化後に除去してモールドにシリコーンを填入・重合して成形した.3. 重合条件は,室温23℃で24時間放置(以下RTとする),出力170Wで10分間重合(以下170w10とする),出力170Wで10分間重合後に700Wで3分間重合(以下170w10+700w3とする),出力170Wで15分間重合(以下170w15とする),出力170Wで15分間重合後に700Wで3分間重合(以下170w15+700w3とする),出力500Wで15分間重合(以下500w15とする)とした.4. 衝撃吸収試験は鷹股作製の鉄球落下試験機を使用した.5. 内部気泡の観察はKODAK Gray CardⓇ(The Tiffen Co, LLC, NY, USA)上に試料を乗せ目視でcm2当たりの気泡数をカウントした.6. 統計学分析は多重比較(Tukey-Kramer法,p<0.05)を行った.【結果】1. シリコーンの引張強さは,マイクロ波の出力が上昇すると増加し,出力時間が長いと増加する傾向を示した.500w15,170w15+700w3が7.8, 8.2Mpaと他の材料より高値になり,MG21と同等の値となった.伸びは,170w10+700w3が349%,170w15+700w3は392%と他の処理方法より大きな値を示したが,市販材より低かった.100%変形時応力は,170w10+700w3と170w15+700w3は他の処理方法・MG21よりも高く,CapSと同等であった.2. 引裂強さ試験ではマイクロ波の出力が増加すると,また出力時間が長いと強さが増加する傾向となり,170w15+700w3は33.7Kgf/cm,500w15は34.2Kgf/cmとMG21より高値となった.3. 硬さ試験ではマイクロ波の出力が増加すると,出力時間が長くなると硬さが増加する傾向となった.500w15は62.6でシリコーンでは最高値となったが,市販材の83.1,83.2より低かった.4. 衝撃吸収試験ではマイクロ波の出力が増加すると,出力時間が長くなると衝撃減衰量が低くなる傾向を示し,170w15+700w3は最も低い0.576KNであった.しかしCapSより高く,MG21と同等であった.5. 内部気泡は500w15が0.67個/cm2で最も多く,他の重合条件の0.24~0.37個/cm2の約2倍であった.また他の条件間には有意差は認めなかった.【結論】シリコーンをスポーツマウスガード材料に用いるためのマイクロ波重合には, 170w15+700w3の重合法が有効であることが示された.
