▼ Darbo tikslas - Išsiaiškinti Kauno rajono
ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų būklę. Tyrimo metodika.
Vienmomentiniame anketiniame tyrime dalyvavo trijų, atsitiktinai
pasirinktų, Kauno rajono darželių vaikų tėvai. Tyrimui buvo
paruošta 410 anketų, iš viso buvo apklausta 408 tėvai. Anketų
atsakas 326, atsako dažnis 80 proc. Statistinė duomenų analizė
atlikta naudojant statistinių programų rinkinio SPSS 19.0 versiją.
Tyrimas buvo atliktas 2010 m. gruodžio - 2011 sausio mėnesiais.
Rezultatai. Kauno rajono darželiuose vaikai lengvai adaptuojasi
darželio aplinkoje, nori eiti į jį. Dauguma 266 (81,6 proc.) tėvų
teigia, kad vaiko elgesys pasikeičia pradėjus lankyti darželį.
Vaikai tampa savarankiški, taip teigia 167 (62,8 proc.)
apklaustieji, daugiau bendrauja 80 (30,1 proc.). 223 (68,4 proc.)
tėvai pakeistų vaikų skaičių grupėje, 88 (27,0 proc.) apklaustųjų
pakeistų darželių darbo laiką. Darželiuose vaikai dažnai serga.
Darželyje I berniukai dažniau serga, nei mergaitės (p=0,003).
Dažniausiai serga 5m. amžiaus vaikai, rečiausiai 4m. amžiaus
vaikai. (p=0,037). Vaikai darželiuose pakankamai pavalgę, taip
teigia dauguma 295 (90,5 proc.) tėvų Atlikto tyrimo metu 225 (69
proc.) respondentai teigia, kad vaikų mitybos racione netrūksta
vaisių ir daržovių, tačiau daugiausiai vaisių ir daržovių vaikai
gauna Darželyje I (p=0,00). Daugumos 296 (90,8 proc.) apklaustųjų
tėvų nuomone darželių aplinka yra saugi, tačiau lyginant atskirus
darželius Darželyje II aplinka nesaugiausia (p=0,004). Darželių...

Objective of the study: To evaluate parents
view to education and environment of preschool institutions in
Kaunas region. Methods: Parents of children's of three randomly
selected Kaunas district kindergartens participated in
questionnaire study. In total 410 survey questionnaires were
prepared. The response rate 80%. The statistical analysis was
performed using SPSS statistical software package version 19.0. The
study was conducted in 2010 December - 2011 January. Results:
Kaunas district kindergarten children easily adapt in the
environment and are willing to attend institution. Most parents 266
(81.6 %) say that children's behavior changed after attending the
kindergarten. Children become independent as claim 167 (62.8 %) of
surveyed parents, more communicative - 80 parents, (30.1 %). To
decrease the number of children in the group would like 223 parents
(68.4 %). To replace school opening times wished 88 interviewed
parents (27.0 %). Nutrition of children in kindergartens is
sufficient, said as many as 295 (90.5 %) parents. In the survey 225
parents (69 %) thought that children's nutrition includes enough
fruits and vegetables, but in the Kindergarten I the children
received bigger amount of vegetables and fruits (p=0,00). According
to the most of surveyed parents 296 (90.8 %) institutions

▼ Tyrimo tikslas — atskleisti ikimokyklinio
ugdymo įstaigų pedagogų ir jas lankančių vaikų tėvų požiūrį į vaikų
fizinį aktyvumą. Hipotezė — ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų pedagogų
požiūris į vaikų fizinį aktyvumą yra geresnis nei vaikų tėvų.
Tyrimo metodai: 1. Mokslinės literatūros analizė ir apibendrinimas.
2. Anketinė apklausa. 3. Statistinė analizė. Tyrimo organizavimas
Tyrimas atliktas 2009—2010 metais trijuose Kauno rajono ir Kauno
miesto vaikų darželiuose. Dalyviai parinkti patogiuoju būdu.
Atliekant tyrimą respondentams buvo leidžiama patiems apsispręsti
dėl dalyvavimo. Tiriamiesiems buvo išdalintos anketos, paaiškintas
tyrimo tikslas, buvo garantuotas anonimiškumas bei
konfidencialumas. Tiriamieji: 49 ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų
pedagogai, 101 ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigas lankančių vaikų tėvas.
Išvados: Tėvų ir pedagogų nuomonė apie fizinio aktyvumo įtaką vaikų
vystymuisi ir raidai skiriasi. 46 proc. tėvų ir 34 proc. pedagogų
mano, kad fizinis aktyvumas vaikų vystymuisi yra svarbus. 11 proc.
tėvų ir 2 proc. pedagogų mano, kad fizinis aktyvumas yra ne itin
svarbus. Ir tik 43 proc. tėvų bei 64 proc. pedagogų mano, kad
fizinis aktyvumas yra labai svarbus vaikų vystymuisi ir raidai.
Tėvų ir pedagogų nuomonė dėl nepakankamo vaikų fizinio aktyvumo
pasekmių yra panaši. Dauguma tėvų (58 proc.) ir pedagogų (68 proc.)
teigia, kad nepakankamo vaikų fizinio aktyvumo pasekmė yra prasta
sveikata. 23 proc. tėvų ir 24 proc. pedagogų mano, kad tai lemia

The aim of the research — to reveal attitude
of teachers of preschool education institutions and parents of
children attending these institutions towards physical activity.
Hypothesis — teachers of preschool education institutions have a
more positive attitude towards children physical activity than
parents of attending children. Research methods: 1. Aanalyzis and
summarisation of related scientific literature. 2. Questionnaire
survey. 3. Statistical analyzis. Organization of research Research
has been performed 2009—2010 in three Kaunas city and region
kindergardens. Participants have been chosen by target selection
method. Participants had free will to choose wether to participate
in the research. Participants have been handled the questionaries
and explained how to fill them in. Anonimity and confidentiality
has been guaranteed. Participants: 49 teachers of preschool
education institutions; 101 parents of children attending preschool
education institutions. Conclusions Parents and teachers have
differnet understanding about physical activity influence on
child’s developement. 46% of parents and 36% of techers think that
physical activity is important for child developement. 11% of
parents and 2% of teachers think that physical activity is not so

▼ Šiuo darbu buvo siekiama atskleisti
inovacijų diegimo procesą ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigoje. Inovacijų
diegimo srityje nuolat susiduriama su inovacijų sampratomis, jų
klasifikavimu, taikymu praktinėje veikloje, idėjų realizavimo
procesu. Išanalizavus mokslinę literatūrą, ikimokyklinėse įstaigose
organizuojant inovacinę veiklą, išryškinta inovacijos samprata, jos
klasifikavimas ir komandinio darbo raiška. Siekiant išryškinti
inovacijos diegimo proceso tobulinimo galimybes, baigiamajame darbe
pasirinktas kokybiniam tyrimui būdingas metodas: struktūrizuotas
interviu. Apklaustos X ikimokyklinės įstaigos pedagogės ir
pavaduotojos ugdymui – 12. Empirinėje darbo dalyje atskleista
inovacijų sampratos, diegimo proceso, sunkumų ir teigiamų patirčių
ypatumai ikimokyklinėje įstaigoje. Bendriausia prasme inovacija
apibūdinama kaip procesas, naudingas tuomet, kada jis siejasi su
kokybės gerinimu. Išryškėjo teigiamos ir neigiamos nuostatos.
Inovacijos diegimo procese išryškėjo komandinio darbo požymiai:
komandos sutelktumas, pasidalijimas darbais, siekiant rezultato.
Galima teigti, kad daugiausia įtakos inovacijų diegimo procesui
turi dalyvaujantys asmenys bei jų tarpusavio santykiai. Asmeniniai
įgūdžiai - viena iš esminių bendradarbiavimo prielaidų diegiant
inovacijas ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigose.
We constantly discover conceptions of
innovations, their classification and practical implementation as
well as the process of idea realization in the sphere of
implementing innovations. In various literature the importance of
conception of innovations, their classification and teamwork is
emphasized while implementing innovations in preschool
institutions. In order to highlight improvement possibilities for
the process of implementing innovations, a qualitative-like method
– a structured interview – has been chosen for this work. There
have been interview 12 teachers and substitutes for education of X
preschool institution. The empiric part of the work reveals the
features of conceptions of innovations, implementation process,
difficulties and positive effects in preschool institutions. In
most common sense an innovation is described as a process, which is
useful when it delivers improvement for quality. The paper
highlights both positive and negative provisions. Therefore, the
indications of teamwork such as concentration of a team and
work-sharing to achieve a result also have become noticeable in the
process of implementing innovations. It might be stated that people
and their inter-relations have the largest impact on the process of
implementing innovations. Personal skills are one of essential
assumptions for cooperation while implementing innovations in
preschool institutions.

▼ Governments have incentives to form integrated rules and
institutions when they pursue international environmental cooperation. Under what conditions do they form environmental cooperation consisting of un-integrated rules and
institutions? I argue that governments form integrated cooperation when they share convergent preferences over cooperation. They form un-integrated cooperation when they have divergent preferences. Preferences diverge under one of two conditions: (i) economic actors ("stakeholders") responsible for the environmental problem operate in diffuse markets, or (ii) states have an asymmetrically interdependent relationship in managing the environmental issue. When neither condition holds, governments share convergent preferences over environmental cooperation. I evaluate the importance of stakeholder concentrations by studying patterns of cooperation on global environmental issues such as climate change, ozone layer depletion, biodiversity loss, and mercury pollution. I evaluate the importance of interdependence structures by studying patterns of cooperation on regional rivers, lakes, and seas. The analysis employs original data stemming from agreement texts, field surveys, primary-source interviews, field observations, primary texts, quantitative data, as well as secondary sources. Governments create integrated global environmental cooperation when stakeholders are economically concentrated. They create un-integrated cooperation when stakeholders are economically diffuse. On regional water bodies, governments form integrated cooperation when states share symmetrical exposure to pollution and other externalities. They form un-integrated cooperation when states have asymmetrical exposure. Neither the number of states with control over an environmental issue nor the wealth and geopolitical relations among states better explain patterns of cooperation on global environmental issues or regional water bodies.

▼ In recent years, microfinance has grown drastically. In emerging economies, microfinance institutions (MFIs) are used to provide financial services to the poor that have been deemed “unbankable” by the traditional banks. The emergence of the microfinance industry is seen as an answer to an unmet demand by the relevant literature (see, among others, Robinson, 2001; Littlefield and Rosenberg, 2004), but MFIs have not evolved equally everywhere. During their development, MFIs have experienced different fates; some have expanded while others have ceased to exist. But what explains this disparity? To explain these regional differences, many scholars have focused on investigating the relationship between MFIs’ performance and changes in the macroeconomy together with the institutional environment of the country MFIs operate. According to Vanroose (2006), the environment in which MFIs operate plays a vital role in these cross country differences. Despite this, in the literature not much attention has been paid to the relationship between the microfinance sector and its environment. To fill this gap, this study intends to contribute to the current state of knowledge by empirically investigating the relationship between institutional environment and the performance of MFIs, by comparing South Asia and Latin America. In doing so, this study aims to analyse: (1) Does institutional environment matter for the performance of MFIs in South Asia and Latin America? Do MFIs perform better in the context of well-developed institutions? (2) What are the differences between the performance of MFI in South Asia and Latin America? These questions are addressed by employing a two stage least squares (2SLS) regression. The dataset of this study consists of 20 countries and 373 MFIs containing financial performance, outreach, institutional environment variables and macroeconomic indicators of Latin America and South Asia from 1996 – 2014. The robustness of the models is also tested with different variables from various studies. One of the key findings is that MFIs in South Asia and Latin America service different clientele, in line with the findings of the previous literature. Specifically, MFIs in South Asia serve poorer clients while MFIs in Latin America attend to richer clients. In addition, it is also observed that microfinance industry is experiencing mission drift0F[1] where some of the MFIs are seen to be gradually giving out larger loans1F[2]. The main estimations further indicate that institutional environment of the host economy plays a role in the performance of MFIs such that regulations deter MFIs from accomplishing their responsibility as banking for the poor. However, the impact of institutional environment is different for each region. In South Asia, well-developed institutions negatively affect the performance of MFIs. ▼ Organizational performance has been a key research issue for a majority of scholars in business research. Indeed, researchers and practitioners have attempted to unravel how firms can remain competitive by ensuring they keep their performance at peak year on year. Firms are thus making performance a key concern, which they grapple with often with all measures geared towards its improvement. Despite these efforts, it is still difficult to explain how two similar firms operating in the same environment have variations in their performance. The study conceptualized a relationship between firm characteristics, corporate social responsibility, operating environment and firm performance. It observed that there are factors which influence performance key among them being firm characteristics. Despite this observation, scholars remain skeptical on why performance is still a mirage. To address this challenge, this study proposed that there are key variables which when combined well with firm characteristics, would yield sustainable performance. The study observed that corporate social responsibility and operating environment play a greater role in enhancing the performance of the financial institutions in Kenya. The main objective of the study was to establish the influence of firm characteristics, corporate social responsibility and operating environment on the performance of financial institutions in Kenya. The study had the following specific objectives; effect of firm characteristics and firm performance, relation between firm characteristics and corporate social responsibility, effect of corporate social responsibility and firm performance, effect of corporate social responsibility in the relationship between firm characteristics and firm performance, effect of operating environment in the relationship between firm characteristics and firm performance and finally, joint effect of firm characteristics, corporate social responsibility and operating environment and performance of financial institutions in Kenya. The study had four hypotheses, which were tested at 95 percent confidence level. The study was conducted through cross-sectional descriptive survey. Data was gathered using semi-structured questionnaire delivered through drop and pick method as well as through email. A census of 382 financial institutions was reached, out of which, a response rate of 36.4 percent was achieved. The study further used multivariate and hierarchical linear regression analyses. The findings indicate a statistically significant relationship between firm characteristics and firm performance. The firm characteristics explained 99.5 percent of the performance of financial institutions in Kenya. Results of the intervening effects of corporate social responsibility on firm performance were statistically significant. ▼ There is ample evidence indicating that early literacy and numeracy skills are important to later academic achievement, and that these early skills develop together. There is also evidence that parent-child literacy and numeracy practices are predictive of children’s literacy and numeracy skills within their respective domains. However, there is limited research on the relations between the home literacy
environment (HLE) and numeracy outcomes, and the home numeracy
environment (HNE) and literacy outcomes. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the relations of the HLE and HNE to children’s literacy and numeracy practices, both within and across domains. Participants were 114 preschoolers and their parents. Preschoolers ranged in age from 3.01 and 5.17 (M = 4.09) and were 54% female and 72% Caucasian. Parents reported the frequency of parent-child literacy and numeracy practices. Children were assessed in the fall and spring of their
preschool year on their literacy (definitional vocabulary, phonological awareness, and print knowledge) and numeracy skills. Four hierarchical multiple regression analyses were conducted to predict each of the child outcomes. Results indicate that, although the HLE was not broadly predictive of children’s literacy and numeracy outcomes, the HNE was predictive of numeracy, definitional vocabulary, and phonological awareness outcomes. These findings emphasize the importance of parent-child home numeracy practices to children’s academic outcomes at an early age. Specifically, the relation between the HNE and vocabulary development contributes to the growing body of research indicating the important relations between early numeracy and language development.

▼ Svenska myndigheter och kommuner arbetar utifrån miljökvalitetsmålet Giftfri miljö med att minska användning och exponering för hälso- och miljöskadliga ämnen (Miljömål, 2016). På delegation från regeringen har Kemikalieinspektionen upprättat en handlingsplan för att nå miljömålet. Handlingsplanens fokus riktas till stor del mot kemikalier i barns vardag. Gävle kommun är i uppstartsfasen av arbetet inom förskolor, för att fortsätta arbetet strukturerat och med god prioritering så bör ett utgångsläge med riskområden inom förskolan identifieras. I det här examens arbetet inom miljöteknik genomförs en inventering av Kemikaliesmart förskola där 19 kommunala förskolor i Gävle kommun, med målet att identifiera riskområden och barns utsatthet för kemikalier i förskolan. Ett samarbete med Utbildning Gävles miljöstrateg har givit kontaktnät och ekonomisk möjlighet för personal vid de enskilda förskolorna att medverka under inventeringen. Den färdiga rapporten lämnas till verksamheten att använda som underlag vid prioriteringar i arbetet med kemikaliesmart förskola. Genomförandet sker med en befintlig mall från Naturskyddsföreningen som grund (Naturskyddsföreningen, 2013). Inventeringen görs i två etapper, en intervju inför inventeringen och inventering av lösöre och till viss del byggnadstekniska detaljer som golv- och väggytor. Inventeringen av lösöre består av cirka 100 frågor som ställs och undersöks vid varje förskola, de sammanfattas i tabellformat med beskrivande text. Därifrån lyfts eventuella riskområden, som stödjs genom underlag från Svenska myndigheter eller forskning. Diskussionen påvisar svårigheter som uppstår vid val av produkter då innehållsförteckningar är svåra att tyda eller obefintliga. Men också hur rutiner kring städ, tvätt och vädring kan påverka inom de identifierade riskområden. Riskområden som enligt mål och slutsats identifierats är skildrade genom typ av skadligt ämne eller negativ hälsopåverkan. Identifieringen gav sex olika områden: Flamskydds-, vatten- och fläckavvisande medel, Kemikalier från plast, Allergiframkallande ämnen, Polycykliska aromatiska kolväten, Bly och Kvicksilver. För dessa områden redogörs vilka typer av produkterkategorier som är berörda och vilken typ av hälsorisk de innebär.

ypatumus. 2. Išryškinti ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų vadovų
vaidmenį ugdymo programos kūrimo procese bei telkiant komandą
ugdymo programų rengimui. 3. Remiantis ikimokyklinių įstaigų
vadovų, jų pavaduotojų ugdymui ir pedagogų nuomone, išryškinti
vadovų vaidmenis kuriant ugdymo programas. 4. Atskleisti
ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigos vadovų vaidmens telkiant komandą
ugdymo programų kūrimui ypatumus. 5. Išsiaiškinti ikimokyklinių
įstaigų vadovų vaidmenis įgyvendinant parengtą ikimokyklinio ugdymo
programą. Tyrime dalyvavo: 336 tiriamieji iš keturių Lietuvos
miestų ir rajonų (Kauno, Kėdainių, Šiaulių ir Vilniaus)
samprotavimai: 65 ikimokyklinių įstaigų vadovų, 75 jų pavaduotojų
ugdymui, 196 ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų pedagogai. Tyrimo metu
nustatyta, kad: 1.Pagrindinius ikimokyklinių įstaigų vadovų
vaidmenimis vadovai ir jų pavaduotojai ugdymui, pedagogai,

There are the analyse of roles of preschool
institution’s head organizing the programmes of children’s
education in the master task. Undoubtedly, the role of preschool
institution’s head is very important in this process. The aim of
research – to reveal the roles of preschool institution’s head
organizing the programmes of children’s education. The problem of
research have been formulated like that: 1. Analyse and discuss the
literature which examine the peculiarities of children’s education
programmes. 2.Develop the role of preschool institution’s head in
the process of creating the programmes and also assisting the team
for creating the programmes. 3.Develop the roles of leaders
organizing education programmes according to preschool
institution’s head, substitute and pedagogue’s opinion. 4.Reveal
the roles of preschool institution’s head assisting the team for
the peculiarities of education programmes. 5.Find out the roles of
preschool institution’s head in a realization of the prepared
preschool education programme. There were 336 people who were
explored from 4 towns in Lithuania ( Kaunas, Kėdainiai, Šiauliai
and Vilnius ) : 65 preschool institution's heads, 75 substitutes

institutions are
challenged with many learning spaces that were designed with
traditional educational methods in mind and before the advent of
modern portable technical devices. New learning space design should
include characteristics that make a learning space innovative and
more effective for today’s student. The purpose of the study was to
explore the characteristics of innovative physical learning spaces
at traditional undergraduate
institutions. In
order to determine what was innovative published case studies were
researched and the innovative characteristics were identified. As
representatives of traditional undergraduate
institutions, the four
corner
institutions in Ohio identified innovative learning spaces
on their campuses for case studies. The innovative learning spaces
were visited and data was collected on their characteristics, and
pictures were taken of the spaces. The data collected at the four
corner
institutions was compared to the published case studies and
to each other, and significant observations were
documented.

▼ A Field Project Submitted In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Degree of Master of Public Administration Healthcare Management
In this project I will research, analyze and summarize previous studies completed
on staff turnover amongst government employees. I will then develop a Survey and
distribute it to state employees utilizing a small sample set of correctional employees for the
State of Wisconsin. The survey and its questions were designed to evaluate the effect Act 10 and
its components have on an employee's thoughts and feelings about their current work status. It was
also designed to study the effect it has on their motivation to continue with their current career,
seek a different career within government and/or switch careers and leaving government employment
all together. I will compare the survey responses from state employees with the information
collected from past literature studies. The results will help support my hypothesis that the Act 10
Legislation was more
effective in increasing staff turnover than it was at influencing staff retention.

▼ Changing the behaviour of firms to take environmental concerns into account is seen as unlikely without effective regulations. However, corporations are increasingly keen to represent themselves as ‘green’, including those in the world’s largest manufacturing sector: the car industry. Given rising concern for the environment and environmental sustainability since the 1990s this thesis asks: what motivates car firms to actually make environmental commitments? Answering this question has implications for whether these commitments are ‘real’ and if so whether they are occurring in response to material factors (e.g. state regulations and consumer demand) versus normative factors (e.g. social attitudes and internal company strategies). In order to answer it, the thesis applies the insights of the institutional varieties of capitalism approach to the German, United States and Japanese car industries, and specific firms within them, in respect of the environmental issue of climate change from 1990 to 2004. Empirical national data is analysed, as well the environmental reporting of individual firms and interviews with key personnel.
The main findings are that what leads the car industry to see environmental issues as central to their business interests hinges on the impact of differing national institutional factors. Specifically, it is a matter of whether firms have a liberal market economy (LME) as their home base, in the case of US firms, or a coordinated market economy (CME) as their home base, in the case of German and Japanese firms. US car firms react more to the material imperatives of consumer demand and state regulations. German and Japanese firms are more mindful of normative factors for their initiatives, such as social attitudes (especially for German firms) and internal company strategies (especially for Japanese firms). They have more of a partnership approach with government. Therefore, car firms have very distinct ‘lenses’ through which they see the environmental performance of the cars they produce. As such, the thesis concludes that the variety of capitalism of nations has implications not just for the type of products that economic actors such as car firms produce, and the competitive advantages they develop, but also the way they address related issues arising as a result of their activities, including environmental issues.

besimokančia organizacija padės išlikti konkurencinėmis sąlygomis.
Besimokančios organizacijos požymių raiškos analizė leis tobulinti
ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigos veiklą, edukacinę erdvę. Be to,
neaptikta duomenų, kad buvo tyrinėtos ikimokyklinio ugdymo
institucijos, kaip besimokančios organizacijos, bei nerasta tyrimų,
kokiais požymiais, bruožais jos pasižymi. Atsižvelgus į visa tai,
buvo iškelta tyrimo problema: ar ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaiga yra
besimokanti organizacija? Tyrimo objektas: ikimokyklinio ugdymo
įstaigos, kaip besimokančios organizacijos požymiai. Tyrimo tikslas
– atskleisti ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigos, kaip besimokančios
organizacijos požymių raišką vadovų ir pedagogų požiūrio aspektu.
Tyrimo metodika. Respondentų apklausai buvo panaudota anketinė
apklausa. Anketa sudaryta remiantis A. Juodaitytės, N. Kudokienės
(2005, p. 38) straipsnio „Mokyklos, kaip besimokančios
organizacijos, formavimosi tendencijos“ idėjomis bei teorine
medžiaga (Targamadzė,1999; Simonaitienė, 2003; Stoll, Fink, 1998;
Senge, 1990 ir kt.). Tyrimo imtis. Tyrime dalyvavo penkiolikos
Šiaulių mieste esančių ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų vadovų ir
pedagogų. Buvo apklausti 199 respondentai, iš jų 19 vadovų

Relevance: Constant change and reform has
created new requirements for a person and organization, so in order
to remain attractive preschool educational institution it has to
grow, learn constantly and become a qualitative new organization.
It will help for a learning organization to survive in competitive
conditions. The analysis of the expression of the features of
learning organization will improve preschool activity and
educational space. In addition, there are not any data which could
show the investigated preschool education institutions as learning
organizations, and there has not been found any research in what
ways, they are distinguished. All the things conceded the research
problem was raised: whether pre-primary school is a learning
organization? The research object: The features of preschool
education institution as learning organization. The purpose of the
survey - to reveal preschool education institution as learning
organization, the expression of their features: teachers’ and
heads’ aspect of attitude. The methods of research - Questionnaire
survey has been used to investigate the respondents. The
questionnaire is based on the article „Formation tendencies of the
School as a learning organization“by A. Juodaitytė, N. Kudokienė

veiklą. Atskleidžiamas jų požiūris į projektą. Išsiaiškinama kokių
tikslų ir motyvų veikiami pedagogai dalyvauja projektinėje
veikloje. Atskleidžiama išorinė ar vidinė motyvacija turi didesnę
įtaką pedagogų pasirinkimui. Atlikta analizė rodo, jog pedagogai
vieningiausiai rinkosi tokius tikslus ir motyvus, kurie atspindi jo
vidinį siekį tobulinti esamą padėtį. Šiaulių ikimokyklinių ugdymo
įstaigų pedagogams būdingos novatoriaus, ankstyvųjų diegėjų ir
ankstyvosios daugumos novacijų diegėjų tipus apibūdinančios
nuostatos.
The attitude of educators of Šiauliai
preschool educational institutions towards the project work is
analysed in the master’s thesis and their opinion towards the
project work is revelled. It is ascertained which objectives and
motives encouraged educators to participate in the project work.
Revealed external or internal motivation influences educators’
choice more. The research shows that educators the most unitedly
have chosen such aims and motives that reflect their inner will to
improve the present situation. The attitude that describes the
types of innovators, early adopters and early majority novations’
initiators is characteristic to educators of Šiauliai preschool
educational institutions.

▼ Strateginis planavimas yra neišvengiamas
siekiant efektyviai įgyvendinti įvairių sričių reformas ir spręsti
sudėtingas problemas. Ikimokyklinių įstaigų pagrindinis uždavinys
siekti pilnavertiško ir kokybiško ugdymo, panaudoti tinkamai
žmogiškuosius ir materialiuosius išteklius, taip pat sudaryti
lanksčią veiklos programą ir gaires, supažindinti ir padėti
įsilieti jaunajam piliečiui į visuomenę. Tyrimo problema:
Ikimokyklinėse ugdymo įstaigose nepakankamai aiškiai reglamentuotos
veiklos strategiją nusakančios gairės. Organizacijos valdymas,
žmogiškieji ištekliai yra neefektyviai išnaudojami. Šiandieninė
ikimokyklinė įstaiga atsidūrusi nuolatinės kaitos procese, norėdama
išlikti ir teikti aukštos kokybės paslaugas turi būti labai
lanksti. Tik gerai suvokdami strategijos kūrimo proceso svarbą
organizacinėje veikloje, vadovai pasirinks tinkamas kryptis jos
plėtotei. Šiam procesui įgyvendinti reikia, kad būtų suprasta ne
tik strategijos esmė bei svarba, bet ir pats jos kūrimo bei
formavimo procesas. Tyrimo objektas: Ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigų
strateginis planavimas. Tyrimo tikslas: Išanalizuoti ikimokyklinio
ugdymo įstaigų strateginio planavimo ypatumus, pateikti pasiūlymus
planavimo procesui tobulinti. Tyrimas atliktas derinant kiekybinio

Strategic planning is inevitable when aiming
to effectively implement reforms of various spheres and when
solving difficult problems. The main goals of preschool
institutions are: striving to reach a full-fledged qualitative
education, to properly use human and material resources as well as
to make flexible action programme and guidelines, to introduce them
to young citizens and help them to disgorge into the society.
Research problem: guidelines for action strategy are obscurely
regulated in preschool education institutions. Organization
management and human resources are used ineffectively. Modern
preschool institution, facing constant change process, must be very

El ambiente construido es un determinante de la actividad física en niños. El objetivo fue diseñar y validar en apariencia (sentido, contenido, escala y comprensión) y fiabilidad el instrumento de auditoría de espacios recreo-deportivos para niños entre 3 y 5 años IDERPI.
Método
Estudio de validación del IDERPI, diseñado a partir de referentes normativos para educación preescolar, que audita los escenarios recreo-deportivos. Incluyó revisión de literatura, formulación de los dominios de seguridad, infraestructura y dotación. El instrumento fue evaluado por 10 educadores físicos sobre pertinencia, redacción, concordancia y comprensión, con escalas Likert, además del concepto de un arquitecto y un ingeniero civil. Se realizó una prueba piloto en 12 colegios públicos que atienden niños entre 3-5 años. La información fue procesada en SPSS. Se realizó análisis de concordancia mediante W de Kendall, de consistencia interna mediante alfa de Cronbach y análisis factorial para explorar la validez de constructo.
Resultados:
El instrumento final consta de 40 ítems. Se obtuvo un acuerdo entre expertos en los dominios de pertinencia, redacción y comprensión de más del 60 % en la W de Kendall. En cuanto al contenido la varianza total en seguridad fue de 69,18 %, en infraestructura de 87,47% y en dotación de 75,76%. El alfa de Cronbach fue de 0,87. El análisis factorial indicó la relevancia del contenido contra la intención del instrumento.
Conclusión:
IDERPI obtuvo una adecuada validez de apariencia y de fiabilidad, este instrumento puede ser utilizado para evaluar el cumplimiento de requisitos para estos ambientes y para establecer patrones de comparación de resultados entre escenarios.
Introduction:
The built environment is a crucial factor for the physical activity in children. The objective was to validate from the perspective of appearance (meaning, content, scale and understanding) and audit reliability instrument of recreational-sports spaces for children between 3 to 5 years old IDERPI.
Method.
IDERPI validation study, designed by the principal investigator from normative reference for pre-school education, which audits the recreational-sports scenarios. It included a literature review, formulating the security domains, infrastructure and staffing. The instrument evaluated by 10 physical educators on pertinence, writing, concordance and comprehension, scales and the concept of an architect and a civil engineer. A pilot test was carried out in 12 public schools that serve children between the ages of 3-5. The information was processed in SPSS. Factor analysis was performed and internal consistency was established with Cronbach's alpha.
Results:
The instrument consists of 40 items. ▼ High agricultural production regions are assumed to be food secure and thus overlooked in regards to food and nutrition security interventions. However, resource-poor households in such regions are likely to suffer malnutrition and be negatively affected by seasonal food availability variations. The main objective of this study was to assess the relationship between nutritional status and season among preschool children from resource-poor households in rural and urban Trans Nzoia County.
The study employed an observational longitudinal study design on 90 children under five years from resource-poor households in Kipsongok informal settlement, Kitale town (urban) and Chepsiro sub-location (rural), in Trans Nzoia County. Their nutrition status was assessed using anthropometric measurements before and after the harvest season of the County’s major crop, maize. The education level, occupation and marital status of household heads and primary care givers was obtained and associated with the nutrition status of the preschoolers to determine the degree to which they influenced nutrition status. The dietary diversity of the preschoolers in both seasons was also investigated. The influence of season and residence on nutrition status was tested using statistical procedures of student’s t-test and 2-way ANOVA, at 95% confidence interval.
A significantly higher proportion (p=0.019) of care givers in the urban area were married (83.3%) compared to their rural counterparts (65.1%). Rural household heads were more schooled with 33.7 % having completed secondary education compared to 7 % of urban household heads (P=0.013). Similarly, 64% of the urban female care givers completed their primary education compared to 80.2% of their rural counterparts.

all aspects of people’s lives. Preschool education teacher training
programs need to reform accommodate the requirements of society and
parents. This research studies the effectiveness of a new
pre-school education teacher training program in Shanghai, using
the Art Education Department (AED) of East China Normal University
as a case study. The study involves AED graduates, AED lecturers
and kindergarten principals, and assesses the effectiveness of the
new program based on its course content and balance, its graduates’
work performance, and employers’ evaluations. This research was
conducted through questionnaires, interviews and document analysis.
A better understanding of the different opinions obtained can
further our understanding of the effectiveness of the new
pre-school education teacher training program.

▼ The purpose of the study was to investigate how preschool teachers relate to their assignment and work to stimulate young children's motor skills in indoor environment. To carry out the study one question was formulated asking how the preschool teacher experience that their impact create the conditions and opportunities for developing the younger children's motor skills in the indoor environment. The second question was formed in how they work to achieve the goals of motor development in the curriculum for Preschool (Skolverket, 2016). The method used was qualitative interviews where five preschool teachers in central Sweden were interviewed, in which the results was compared with earlier researches and relevant literature. The results of the study show that the preschool indoor environment has a major impact on the youngest children's motor development. Preschool teachers agreed that the approaches used by the preschool teachers greatly influence the opportunities and conditions the children are given to the development of motor indoors.
Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur förskollärare förhåller sig till sitt uppdrag och arbetar med att stimulera de yngre barnens motorik i inomhusmiljön. För att få svar på syftet inriktades frågeställningarna på hur förskolläraren upplever att de skapar förutsättningar och möjligheter för att utveckla de yngre barnens motorik i inomhusmiljön samt hur de arbetar med att uppnå strävansmålen för motorisk utveckling i Läroplanen för Förskolan (Skolverket, 2016). Metoden som användes var kvalitativa intervjuer där fem förskollärare i mellersta Sverige intervjuades och resultatet jämfördes med tidigare forskning samt relevant litteratur. Undersökningens resultat visar på att förskolans inomhusmiljö har stor påverkan på de yngsta barnens motoriska utveckling. Förskollärarna var överens om att förhållningssätt som används av förskollärarna har stor påverkan på vilka möjligheter och förutsättningar barnen ges till utveckling motoriskt inomhus.

▼ Syftet med studien var att bidra med kunskap om hur den möblerade miljön i ateljén i en förskola kan inverka på barns kommunikation, rörelse och agerande. Studiens frågeställningar fokuserade på hur barnen kommunicerar i ateljémiljön, hur barnen rör sig i ateljémiljön och hur barnen kommunicerar i relation till hur de rör sig eller beter sig och ateljémiljöns inverkan på barns agerande. För att få svar på dessa frågor har kvalitativa observationsstudier på två barn i åldern 2-4 år genomförts i ateljén på en kommunal förskola i södra Sverige. Studiens resultat visar att ateljémiljön bidrog till barnens kreativitet då det ursprungliga arbetet med collage övergick till fri lek i rummet. En annan aspekt som iakktogs i studien var att miljön var anpassad efter barnens längd, vilket gjorde att miljön inverkade positivt på barnens kommunikation, rörelse och agerande då barnen nådde materialet på hyllorna.

▼ This study aims to find out how children in need of special support are being treated during their time in preschool. The focus is on how the educators approach these children, attempt to create an inclusive environment for all children, and how the preschool's management supports the staff in their work with children who need some extra support, for example with external actors or other types of resources. The study focuses mainly on those children who have no established diagnosis, but who for some reasons or another are in need of special support that may be for a shorter or longer periods of time as needed. We will also find out how educators and management collaborate with external actors as well as guardians of children with diagnoses. We have used Urie Bronfenbrenner's developmental ecological theory as well as the relational and the compensatory perspective for understanding and analyzing our empirical material. The study was conducted by questionnaires sent to all educators at the preschool and as well as on site observations was done at the specific preschool. We attempt to ascertain if it is a requirement for the child to have an established diagnosis to get the proper support needed to manage preschool activities. The study found that the educators are knowledgeable and have good ambitions about how the activities should be designed to make every child feel included. However, it seems to be difficult to apply in practice because of various reasons such as lack of staff and large groups of children. Tutkimus sitoutui monitieteellisen lapsuudentutkimuksen yhteisesti jakamaan käsitykseen lapsesta aktiivisena toimijana ja lapsuuden rakentajana. Tutkimuksen teoreettiset näkökulmat kiinnittyivät lapsinäkökulmaiseen tutkimukseen, lapsuuden maantieteeseen sekä merkityksen tutkimukseen. Tutkimuksen lähtökohtaisena oletuksena oli, että päiväkotiympäristö näyttäytyy lapsille eri tavalla kuin aikuisille. Aikuisten olisi hyödyllistä huomioida myös lasten tuottamaa tietoa suunnitellessaan ja rakentaessaan lapsille tarkoitettuja ympäristöjä.
Menetelmät: Tutkimus liittyy Suomen Akatemian tukemaan tutkimushankkeeseen "Lapset kertovat hyvinvoinnistaan - Kuka kuuntelee? Lasten äänet kuuluviin!" (TelLis projektinumero 1134911), jota johtaa Helsingin yliopistossa dosentti Liisa Karlsson. Tutkimuksen aineisto on kerätty Kouvolan seudun lapsiturvallisuushankkeessa, jossa haluttiin huomioida myös lasten näkökulma. Lapset valokuvasivat päiväkotiympäristön kivoja ja tylsiä paikkoja ja kertoivat ottamistaan kuvista sadutusmenetelmän avulla. Lasten kuvat ja tarinat toimivat tiedonlähteenä hankkeeseen osallistuneille eri alojen asiantuntijoille. Tässä tutkimuksessa analysoitiin hankkeeseen osallistuneiden 28 esikoululaisen tuottamaa kuva ja tarina-aineistoa. Aineisto koostui yhteensä 40 kuva ja tarina yhdistelmästä. Tutkimus oli laadullinen tutkimus, jossa aineisto analysoitiin sisällönanalyysillä.
Tulokset ja johtopäätökset: Aineistosta oli löydettävissä neljä erilaista merkitysulottuvuutta: toiminta, yhdessäolo, leikki ja esteettisyys. Lapsille merkityksellinen ympäristö oli viihtyisä ja mahdollisti monipuolista toimintaa, yhdessä olemista ja leikkiä. Lasten valokuvat ja niihin liittyvät tarinat välittivät tietoa, jonka kautta oli mahdollista ymmärtää paremmin lasten toimintaa päiväkotiympäristössä ja tapoja hyödyntää ympäristön tarjoamia toiminnan mahdollisuuksia. Lasten ympäristölle antamien merkitysten huomioiminen on tärkeää, jos halutaan kehittää lasten kokonaisvaltaista hyvinvointia tukevia ympäristöjä. Lasten parissa työskentelevät ja lasten toimintaympäristöjä suunnittelevat asiantuntijat voivat hyödyntää tutkimukseni tuloksia.

▼ Total Quality Management (TQM) is a comprehensive and structured approach to organizational
management that seeks to improve the quality of products and services through ongoing
refinements in response to continuous feedback. Although TQM originated in the manufacturing
sector, its principles can be applied to almost every type of organization. This study aimed at
assessing the influence of Total Quality Management Implementation on performance of
Institutions of Higher Learning, a case of the Institute of Advanced Technology. More
specifically it aimed at examining how leadership, customer satisfaction, employee involvement
and student involvement influence performance at the Institute of Advanced Technology. The
study adopted a descriptive survey design. The target population of the study was 1350 which
comprised students and staff of four IAT branches. A sample size of 270 respondents was used
which is 20% of the target population, this is higher than 10% of accessible population as
recommended by Mugenda and Mugenda (1999). Stratified random sampling method was used
to achieve the desired representation from the various sub-groups. Pilot testing of the data
collection instrument was performed by administering the questionnaires to 10% of the sample
size. To establish the validity of the research instrument content validity was used; to check
reliability of the instrument, Cronbach’s alpha methodology based on internal consistency of the
research instrument was used. An alpha value of 0.849 was obtained, thus the research
instrument used was confirmed to be reliable. After data collection, the questionnaires were
cleaned, coded, organized and analyzed. Descriptive statistics and Correlation, using Karl
Pearson’s Product Moment Coefficient were used to analyse the data and establish the
relationship between the dependent variables and the set of independent variables using SPSS
software. The study found out that the rate of importance attached to customers by employees
and managers had a mean of 9.00 which is close to very important from the Likert scale and had
a very small standard deviation of 0.202 which indicates that employees and managers place a
high value on customers during their service delivery. The rate on employee involvement in the
implementation of TQM has a mean of 7.89 and a small standard deviation of 1.453 from the
Likert scale which indicates that majority of the respondents were in agreement that they get
involved in TQM implementation to a greater extent. Student involvement in the implementation
of TQM at the Institute has a mean of 7.44 which is full implementation on the Likert scale and
has a small standard deviation of 1.29 which indicates that majority of the respondents indicated
that students are active team players in the implementation of TQM at the institute of Advanced

▼ A educação superior brasileira sofreu profundas mudanças a partir da promulgação da Lei de Diretrizes e Base da Educação em 1996. O setor foi aberto para organizações com fins lucrativos e implementou-se o sistema de avaliação da qualidade do ensino vinculada ao credenciamento e recredenciamento das Instituições de Ensino Superior. O novo contexto aumentou as exigências legais e a competição no setor, o que impôs um novo desafio as organizações: compatibilizar a oferta de ensino de qualidade (desempenho educacional) com resultados financeiros satisfatórios (desempenho técnico). Esta dissertação teve como objetivo investigar como as organizações do setor estão lidando com esse desafio. Para abordar essa questão, utilizou-se o arcabouço teórico da Teoria Institucional que apresenta o ambiente externo das organizações composto por duas dimensões: a técnica, relativo a busca da eficiência técnica e a racionalidade de mercado; e a institucional, relacionado com o atendimento a padrões sociais estabelecidos, seja pela regulação, normatização ou pela cognição. Utilizou-se de dados secundários coletados pelo INEP sobre as Instituições de Ensino Superior Privadas localizadas no Distrito Federal no período entre 1996 e 2004. A pesquisa foi operacionalizada por meio da utilização das avaliações do ensino superior implementadas pelo MEC para representar o desempenho educacional, e indicadores de ociosidade de vagas para representar o desempenho técnico. Efetuou-se a análise da evolução dos indicadores e uma análise de correlação para o ano de 2004. Os resultados indicaram que a idade da organização é um preditor para que as organizações consigam compatibilizar as duas dimensões de desempenho. Identificou-se o isomorfismo por meio da difusão de uma estratégia dominante. A oferta de vagas se tornou maior que a demanda, influenciando negativamente os resultados nas duas dimensões estudadas, demonstrando a fraqueza do Estado e das organizações em impedir a entrada de novas organizações e em manter a qualidade do ensino.

▼ Women in executive positions in the Australian corporate organisation appear to be a novelty. There is however a small number of women, who, against the odds, do take up the challenge to lead and hold executive positions in corporate organisations. What can be learned from these women? This reflective inquiry begins by exploring an indicative and eclectic array of historical events, and critically reviews the pertinent literature, to see what significant influences have contributed to and shaped the overall emergence of women’s participation and taking of executive positions. The inquiry contributes by bringing together a diverse range of theoretical perspectives on women’s involvement in organisations with empirically rich examples, drawn from a Complexity informed qualitative interpretative project gathering women’s own stories, women who hold and have held executive positions within the financial services industry. My experiential reflection permeates and directs the overall approach as well as the way in which I made sense of and interpreted the inquiry. The result is the construction of a rich picture that informs current practice and experience while illuminating emergent implications for the broader corporate system. Focusing on the organisation and the factors that shape women’s career development I determine that institutional changes aimed at improving women’s representation in executive positions have not led to significant change and suggest that Complexity provides a new understanding that goes beyond the prevailing views of stereotypical and cultural barriers obstructing women’s career advancement. In the empirical work, I present a Complexity informed inquiry with Complexity providing the overarching logic, methodological approach, technique, and primary metaphors through which the findings are articulated and elaborated. Coherent conversations exploring how twelve women in executive positions make sense of and construct their every day experience in corporate organisations were used to generate narratives that were analysed and synthesised (through fractal and attractor analysis) to identify patterns of similarity. I have identified major themes and four attractor sets from which I make inference about what has guided and shaped these women’s behaviours and attitudes towards their corporate career and experience within the corporate organisation. The inquiry provides a new analysis represented by key themes, which are shown to have driven the actions of the women as they self-organised their corporate careers. Firstly, initial conditions influenced and shaped how these women constructed and thought about their career. Secondly, it was found that their career narratives were strongly entwined with other contexts (society, family and the personal domain). Thirdly, the findings indicate that as these women shift seamlessly from one role to another they constructed temporary identities (professional, mother, wife) as they followed their life cycle passions. pusę, analizę ir ikimokyklinių ugdymo įstaigų valdymo optimizavimo
strateginių tikslų pagrindimą. Tezė apima: strateginio valdymo
teorijos analizę, tam tikrų segmentų empirinį viešos nuomonės
tyrimą (ikimokyklinių ugdymo įstaigų direktorių, pavaduotojų,
auklėtojų, tėvų), jų nuomones apie ikimokyklinių ugdymo įstaigų
valdymo optimizacijos strateginius tikslus, empirinį vadovavimo
įvertinimo tyrimą apie dabartinių vaikų darželių direktorius,
patikrinant jų gebėjimą vadovauti. Buvo apklausta trisdešimt
Šiaulių miesto ir rajono ikimokyklinių ugdymo įstaigų. 30 –
direktorių, 30 – direktorių pavaduotojų, 100 pedagogų, 140 tėvų.
Išanalizuota 30 įstaigų veiklos planų. Tezė aptaria ikimokyklinių
ugdymo įstaigų specifinę valdymo sferą, analizuoja valdymo teorijų
formą, veiklos struktūros optimizavimo klausimą, strateginius
dokumentus ir dokumentaciją. Po teorinės ir empirinės analizės buvo
padarytos sekančios išvados: strateginis valdymas yra esminis
ikimokyklinėms ugdymo įstaigoms, nepaisant skirtingų situacijų ir
įvairų metodų, pateiktų institucijų veikloje, yra tam tikri valdymo
optimizavimo strateginiai tikslai, vedantys į efektyvesnę veiklą ir
augimą.
This leading thesis involves aspects of
theory and practice, analysis and explanation of strategic aims for
management optimization in preschool education institutions. Thesis
involves: theoretical analysis of strategic management, empirical
research of public opinion in certain segments (of the directors,
director’s assistants, educators of preschool education
institutions and parents), their opinions about the strategic aims
for management optimization in preschool education institutions,
empirical research about management assessment of the directors of
present preschools, testing their ability to head up. The research
included 30 preschool education institutions of Šiauliai town and
its region. 30 directors, 30 director’s assistants, 100 educators,
140 parents. There were analyzed thirty management plans of
institutions. Thesis discusses about the specific spheres of
management in preschools, analysis the forms of management
theories, question of the work structure optimization, strategic
documents and documentation. The following conclusions have been
drawn after theoretical and empirical analysis: strategic
management is fundamental for preschool education institutions
despite the different situations and various methods which are
listed in the work of these institutions; there are certain
strategic aims of management which leads to effective work and
growth.

▼ L’objectif de cette thèse est de découvrir si l’environnement institutionnel affecte la performance agricole dans le cas du Cambodge et comment le premier influe sur la dernière. Pour répondre à cet objectif, trois hypothèses sont formulées : (1) l’environnement institutionnel joue un rôle important dans la protection des droits de propriété foncière ; (2) les droits de propriété foncière sécurisés augmentent la productivité agricole par la stimulation des incitations d’investissement des agriculteurs ; (3) les droits de propriété foncière sécurisés accroissent la productivité agricole par la facilitation de l’accès au crédit formel. Méthodologiquement, la recherche est basée sur les différentes théories de la Nouvelle Economie Institutionnelle, qui expliquent que les institutions déterminent la structure des incitations des acteurs économiques dans une société. Spécifiquement, les institutions politiques déterminent les institutions économiques, c’est-à-dire les droits de propriété, qui à leur tour affectent la performance économique en général et la performance agricole en particulier. La recherche est également basée sur les données venant de diverses sources, telles que des agences gouvernementales, des instituts de recherche locaux, des organisations non-gouvernementales et des organisations internationales, qui sont susceptibles de servir de base pour des analyses empiriques. En outre, le cas de l’Afrique subsaharienne est également étudié à titre de comparaison. Le résultat de la thèse confirme fortement les deux premières hypothèses, mais peu la dernière. Le résultat indique que l’impact de l’environnement institutionnel sur la productivité agricole via la protection des droits de propriété foncière est lié au contexte particulier parce qu’il devrait être complété par un environnement économique favorable, tel que l’infrastructure physique et la technologie agricole améliorées et les institutions du marché développées. De plus, on apprend que les résultats désirés ne sont pas obtenus si les institutions formelles (c’est-à-dire, l’enregistrement formel des terres) sont imposées via l’approche top-down dans les régions où les institutions informelles existantes sont fortement encastrées.
The purpose of this dissertation is to find out if the institutional environment affects agricultural performance in the case of Cambodia and how the former exerts an influence on the latter. To respond to this purpose, three hypotheses are formulated: (1) the institutional environment plays an important role in protecting property rights in land; (2) secure property rights in land increase agricultural productivity through the stimulation of farmers’ investment incentives; (3) secure property rights in land raise agricultural productivity through the facilitation of access to formal credit. ▼ A phenomenological interview study on preschool teachers approach to children´s conflicts Our intention was to study six preschool teachers approach to child conflicts in preschool and the strategies they use to deal with conflicts. The aim of the study is to provide knowledge about how the values of the preschool teachers express themselves in the educational environment and how they relate to children's conflicts. The following two inquiries are examined in this study: What strategies does the preschool teacher describe that she applies in different conflict management situations?What values are expressed in the preschool teacher's strategies in conflict between children? This study follows a quantitative method with a phenomenological research approach. It is based on material from interviews with six different preschool teachers who work in the preschool and preschool class. The theoretical starting point for the study is Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, which proceeds from children learning by social interactions. The result shows that preschool teachers use different strategies depending on the nature of the conflict. It furthermore shows that all preschool teachers perceive children as competent and they emphasise the importance of letting the children be a part of the conflict management. Their experience is that the environment plays a determinant part in children’s interactions. All preschool teachers had a view of children with the purpose of always acting in their best interests. All pointed out the important part the presence of a pedagogue has to get the conflict management to work.

▼ The main goal of this study was to determine the
degree and pattern of relationship between home and school factors
and school readiness outcomes for higher and lower income families.
Participants in the study were 171 preschoolers, their parents and
their
preschool teachers. The analyses considered the relationships
between school readiness in preschoolers and the following four
factors found to be important for preschoolers: 1) quality of home
environment, 2) quality of the classroom
environment 3) the
attachment relationship with parents, and 4) the attachment
relationship with teachers. Differences did exist in what
contributed to school readiness for higher and lower income
preschoolers. For higher income children living in a two-parent
household the teacher-child relationship significantly predicted
school readiness outcomes. For lower income children the sole
predictor of school readiness was what happened in the home: both
the security of the parent-child relationship and the quality of
the learning activities within the home. Unlike with the higher
income sample, no relationship was seen between teacher attachment
and school readiness or parent attachment. Possible reasons for and
implications of these differences are discussed.

▼ Empirical evidence on the benefits of nature and the effectiveness of environmental education are increasing, but little evidence examining the effectiveness of environmental education programs with
preschool children exists. The current exploratory study examined the effectiveness of a pilot environmental education program, Heroes of the
Environment in Training, for increasing environmental knowledge and increasing positive environmental perceptions in
preschool children. A total of 107 children at six preschools in rural Northern California participated in the project. Children were individually interviewed before and after the program to assess changes in their environmental knowledge and perceptions. Three
preschool classrooms were randomly assigned to receive the program and three were exposed to story time not related to environmental education.
Results revealed that the environmental education program was effective in increasing environmental knowledge for boys in the experimental group and for older children regardless of group. While results revealed that the environmental education program did not increase environmental perceptions,
preschool children had relatively positive environmental perceptions at time one, which were maintained over time. Girls in general had more positive environmental perceptions at both time one and time two. Past research has shown that extant positive perceptions in young children decline in elementary school. Thus, perhaps program such as the current one can help prevent such decline.
These results from the current study can inform educators about how to integrate developmentally and culturally appropriate environmental education at the
preschool level and encourages future research on early childhood environmental education and developing better, more psychometrically sound measures.
