Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Kopplung der gesellschaftlichen Teilsysteme Wissenschaft und Politik anhand des Beispiels der österreichischen Energieforschung und Energiepolitik. Mittels Literatur- und Dokumentenanalyse wird sowohl die österreichische Energieforschung als auch die Energiepolitik untersucht, um einen Überblick über die Forschungsfelder zu erhalten. Den empirischen Kern dieser Arbeit bildet eine Netzwerkanalyse und –visualisierung der korporativen Akteure des Energieforschungsprogramms "Nachhaltig Wirtschaften" und des Politikformulierungsprozesses "Energiestrategie Österreich", mit der die Schnittstellen bzw. Knotenpunkte des Transfers von ExpertInnenwissen zwischen diesen beiden Bereichen identifiziert werden. Einige wenige wissenschaftliche Organisationen verfügen sowohl im Energieforschungsnetzwerk als auch im Policy-Netzwerk über zentrale Positionen, über die ExpertInnenwissen transferiert werden kann. Abgesehen von zentralen korporativen Akteuren zeigt sich, dass ein Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Akteure aus den Bereichen der Forschung, Wirtschaft und der Politik in beiden Netzwerken aktiv partizipieren – die Systeme der Energieforschung und der Energiepolitik werden somit durch zahlreiche Akteure verschränkt.

This thesis deals with the interlink between the social sub-systems of science and politics based on Austrian energy-related research programmes and energy-policy. In order to obtain an overview of energy-related research and energy-policy in Austria scientific literature and relevant documents have been examined. A social network analysis and network visualisation of actors of the energy-research-programme "Nachhaltig Wirtschaften" and the policy-process "Energiestrategie Österreich" constitute the empirical core of this thesis. By means of the social network analysis the crucial points of intersection between energy-research and energy-policy have been identified. Some scientific organisations are in central positions in the energy-related research-network as well as in the energy-policy-network, thus they are crucial for expert knowledge transfer. Beside the central-positioned organisations there are a lot of pluralistic organisations from science, economy and politics which participate in both networks – the sub-systems of energy-related research and energy-policy are interlinked due to numerous actors.
