Основни предмет истраживања докторске дисертације представљали су рачунарски модели за анализу динамичких карактеристика кретања мотоцикла у функцији повећања безбедности саобраћаја. Значајан удео чине и оргиналана експериментална истраживања са опремом која је прилагођена испитивањима, како у статичко-динамичким лабораторијским условима, тако и у сложеним условима путних испитивања. У oквиру циља дефинисања страдања мотоциклиста дат је осврт на проблематику безбедности мотоциклиста у саобраћају, стања и тенденције, гледано и анализирано на глобалном нивоу, преко специфичности у појединим ширим географским регионима, закључно са стањем у Републици Србији. Као значајан аспект је наведена и приказана конструкција мотоцикла у целини, при чему указано на значај сваког система, са посебним освртом на рам мотоцикла и његову интеракцију са системима ослањања и управљања. На бази добијених резултата динамичких параметара кретања мотоцикла, идентификовани су показатељи динамичког понашања мотоцикла за следеће режиме: кочења, залета, кретања константном брзином, режима осциловања, као и за режиме изражене интеракције динамичких равни.

Osnovni predmet istraživanja doktorske disertacije predstavljali su računarski modeli za analizu dinamičkih karakteristika kretanja motocikla u funkciji povećanja bezbednosti saobraćaja. Značajan udeo čine i orginalana eksperimentalna istraživanja sa opremom koja je prilagođena ispitivanjima, kako u statičko-dinamičkim laboratorijskim uslovima, tako i u složenim uslovima putnih ispitivanja. U okviru cilja definisanja stradanja motociklista dat je osvrt na problematiku bezbednosti motociklista u saobraćaju, stanja i tendencije, gledano i analizirano na globalnom nivou, preko specifičnosti u pojedinim širim geografskim regionima, zaključno sa stanjem u Republici Srbiji. Kao značajan aspekt je navedena i prikazana konstrukcija motocikla u celini, pri čemu ukazano na značaj svakog sistema, sa posebnim osvrtom na ram motocikla i njegovu interakciju sa sistemima oslanjanja i upravljanja. Na bazi dobijenih rezultata dinamičkih parametara kretanja motocikla, identifikovani su pokazatelji dinamičkog ponašanja motocikla za sledeće režime: kočenja, zaleta, kretanja konstantnom brzinom, režima oscilovanja, kao i za režime izražene interakcije dinamičkih ravni.

Um ensaio de carga dinâmica pode ser efetuado em tubulões, estacas hélice continua, estacas moldadas in situ ou estacas cravadas. Tal ensaio se baseia na Teoria da Propagação de Onda em estacas e visa avaliar a capacidade de carga estática mobilizada a partir do evento dinâmico. A análise do ensaio é feita mediante um programa (p.e. CAPWAP ou DLTWAVE), computacional que leva em conta tanto os sinais de força e velocidade obtidas em campo e o modelo do sistema estaca-solo Este trabalho apresenta uma metodologia para atualização bayesiana dos parâmetros de Smith da teoria de propagação de onda, levando em conta não só os sinais registrados, mas também a informação geotécnica-probabilista prévia sobre estes parâmetros. Uma aproximação semelhante já foi aplicada pelo orientador da pesquisa à estimativa de parâmetros geotécnicos de rochas a partir de medidas de deslocamento em túneis, e de campos de permeabilidade a partir de observações piezométricas em barragens. A técnica proposta está baseada firmemente em conhecimento empírico geotécnico que fornece o ensaio e erro do procedimento usual de comparação de sinais: a atualização bayesiana permite aos parâmetros afetados por incerteza maior ter um ajuste proporcionalmente maior de acordo com observações. O máximo deslocamento elástico (quake), o fator de amortecimento (damping) e a resistência estática unitária, de cada trecho da estaca, são considerados variáveis aleatórias com distribuições prévias estimadas dependendo do local de cravação da estaca. Discute-se e calcula-se a correlação cruzada entre parâmetros diferentes e autocorrelação ao longo de profundidade da estaca. As observações são escolhidas do sinal calculado por um software de análise de sinais de cravação, em espaços regulares ao longo do tempo. Postula-se um modelo linear de observação, pesquisa-se tal linearidade, também, deriva-se uma matriz de sensibilidade (ligando cada parâmetro a cada observação), e estimam-se também as incertezas nas observações (sinais). O resultado final é uma distribuição de parâmetros de Smith ao longo da profundidade de estacas, atualizada de acordo com as observações. A aproximação proposta é aplicada em sinais de um dos momentos da cravação, no final da cravação (\'end of driving\', EOD).

An dynamic loading test can be performed in concrete piles, bored piles, drilled shafts, auger cast-in-place (continuous flight auger) piles. Such essay bases on the Theory of the Propagation of Wave in piles with the aim of evaluate the capacity of static load mobilized from the dynamic event. Os parâmetros antropométricos estáticos e dinâmicos são fundamentais para o desenvolvimento do projeto de produto, visto que a correta aplicação destes parâmetros proporciona conforto, segurança e eficácia para o usuário durante o uso do produto. Os parâmetros antropométricos estáticos podem ser obtidos por métodos diretos, indiretos e na literatura. Porém, faltam dados relacionados aos parâmetros antropométricos dinâmicos na literatura especializada e o levantamento destes parâmetros requer métodos mais complexos para sua obtenção. O objetivo deste trabalho é desenvolver um modelo humano digital (MHD) Paramétrico e articulado que contenha os parâmetros antropométricos estáticos e os parâmetros relacionados ao movimento do corpo para ser utilizado na análise ergonômica virtual, de forma a obter os parâmetros antropométricos dinâmicos, durante o processo de projeto. A metodologia da pesquisa consiste em cinco etapas principais: investigação, intervenção, verificação, análise e interpretação dos dados, descrição e discussão dos resultados. A etapa de investigação contemplou a pesquisa bibliográfica, coleta e análise dos dados relacionados aos parâmetros antropométricos e a estruturação destes para serem utilizados como referência para o desenvolvimento do MHD. Na etapa de intervenção, foi iniciado o processo de desenvolvimento do MHD. Na etapa de verificação, foram realizadas análises ergonômicas em ambiente virtual, utilizando o MHD desenvolvido, e os dados foram comparados aos dados obtidos em análises ergonômicas físicas. Como resultados principais da pesquisa, o uso do MHD desenvolvido é bastante eficiente para auxiliar no desenvolvimento de projetos de produtos porque além de possibilitar a customização das variáveis antropométricas, reproduzir os movimentos o mais próximo do movimento do corpo humano, é viabilizada a identificação do conforto nas articulações por meio da mudança de cor nos landmarks (marcadores). Sendo assim, o MHD auxilia o desenvolvimento de produtos, permite a obtenção dos parâmetros antropométricos dinâmicos e de projeto contribuindo para atender aos requisitos ergonômicos de usuário como conforto, segurança e eficácia. Esta pesquisa tem a aprovação do comitê de ética em pesquisa da UFRGS.

L'amélioration du confort dans le secteur automobile constitue actuellement un enjeu majeur. Au coeur de ces préoccupations se trouve le système d'assise, interface majeure entre l'occupant et l'environnement vibratoire du véhicule. Ce mémoire traite de l'étude du constituant principal du siège automobile : la mousse de polyuréthane.Un large panel d'échantillons de ces mousses dont les paramètres de fabrication ont été sélectionnés par l'établissement de plans d'expérience, a été testé selon divers protocoles expérimentaux afin de déterminer leurs caractéristiques physiques, mécaniques quasi-statiques et dynamiques. Un protocole et un dispositif innovant a été conçu pour caractériser la mousse soumise aux vibrations. Des analyses statistiques et des études en composantes principales ont permis de mettre en évidence les corrélations existantes entre les différentes propriétés citées.Une modélisation rhéologique, adaptée à l'application dans un contexte industriel, a été réalisée. Dans ce but, une étude comparative du comportement de différents types de modèles confrontés à certains échantillons de mousse polyuréthane, a été menée.Afin d'extrapoler les résultats obtenus sur les échantillons de mousse vers le siège complet, des essais complémentaires ont été réalisés avec différentes formulations tant en étude quasi-statique que dynamique.L'étude des paramètres de fabrication, des propriétés physiques et de ses comportements mécaniques ont permis de mettre en lumière les liens existants entre ces différentes caractéristiques. Ainsi, il devient possible de concevoir une matelassure aux propriétés prédites en amont et de minimiser le temps de conception d'un siège.

The improvement of comfort in the automotive industry is a major challenge for car manufacturers and suppliers. At the heart of these concerns is the base seat system, major interface between the occupant and the vehicle vibration environment. This dissertation deals with the study of the main car seat sub-component: polyurethane foam.A wide range of polyurethane foam samples have been molded for a design of experiments according to selected process parameters. Several experimental protocols were employed to determine their physical properties, mechanical quasi-static and dynamic characteristics. A new protocol and an innovative device have been designed to characterize the foam sample submitted to vibrations. Statistical and principal components analysis helped to highlight existing correlations between those properties.A rheological model, adapted to the application in an industrial context, was carried out. ▼ This dissertation is primarily concerned with dynamic HIV/AIDS parameter estimation, set against the background of engineering, biology and medical science. The marriage of these seemingly divergent fields creates a dynamic research environment that is the source of many novel results and practical applications for people living with HIV/AIDS. A method is presented to extract model parameters for the three-dimensional HIV/AIDS model in situations where an orthodox LSQ method would fail. This method allows information from outside the dataset to be added to the cost functional so that parameters can be estimated even from sparse data. Estimates in literature were for at most two parameters per dataset, whereas the procedures described herein can estimate all six parameters. A standard table for data acquisition in hospitals and clinics is analyzed to show that the table would contain enough information to extract a suitable parameter estimate for the model. Comparison with a published experiment validates the method, and shows that it becomes increasingly hard to coordinate assumptions and implicit information when analyzing real data. Parameter variations during the course of HIV/AIDS are not well understood. The results show that parameters vary over time. The analysis of parameter variation is augmented with a novel two-stage approach of model identification for the six-dimensional model. In this context, the higher-dimensional models allow an explanation for the onset of AIDS from HIV without any variation in the model parameters. The developed estimation procedure was successfully used to analyze the data from forty four patients of Southern Africa in the HIVNET 28 vaccine readiness trial. The results are important to form a benchmark for the study of vaccination. The results show that after approximately 17 months from seroconversion, oscillations in viremia flattened to a log10 based median set point of 4:08, appearing no different from reported studies in subtype B HIV-1 infected male cohorts. Together with these main outcomes, an analysis of confidence intervals for set point, days to set point and the individual parameters is presented. When estimates for the HIVNET 28 cohort are combined, the data allows a meaningful first estimate of parameters of the three-dimensional HIV/AIDS model for patients from southern Africa. The theoretical basis is used to develop an application that allows medical practitioners to estimate the three-dimensional model parameters for HIV/AIDS patients. The program demands little background knowledge from the user, but for practitioners with experience in mathematical modeling, there is ample opportunity to fine-tune the procedures for special needs. ▼ Vehicle ride comfort plays an important role in the vehicle selection and customer satisfaction. It depends upon various factors including road irregularities, vehicle suspension, vehicle dynamics, tires, seat design and human body’s properties itself. For a given chassis, the seat design is one of important aspects in vehicle interior design. Vehicle seat design is a special example of product design process which takes multiple iterations. It is essential to reduce the total number of iterations in the early design stage to save time and money. How do the designers know the optimal seat parameters such as cushion, seat suspension, and etc. in the early design stage? What’s the fatigue level for drivers to drive this newly design vehicle? To answer these questions, simulation based biodynamic human model is the best choice to assess the designed seat instead of physical prototypes. This research work focuses on developing a simulation method to predict virtual driver fatigue and determine optimal seat dynamic parameters for cushion and seat suspension. These dynamic properties include the stiffness and damping values of cushion and seat suspension. A 14-degree of freedom (DOF) multibody biodynamic human model in 2D is selected from literature to assess three types of seat. The human model has total mass of 71.32 kg with 5 body segments. Backrest support and feet contact with the ground are included in this model. Three types of seat models are used in this research. The first seat has neither cushion nor seat suspension and is called as hard seat. The second type of seat has seat and backrest cushion but does not have seat suspension. Last seat model which is known as isolated seat has seat suspension and seat and backrest cushion. Transmissibility and absorbed power are derived and plotted in vertical and horizontal directions for all three types of seats. For given three types of seats, the seat with backrest and seat pan cushion and seat suspension has best performance compared to the hard seat or the seat without seat suspension based on transmissibility and absorbed power. It was shown that human body response depends on dynamic properties of seat suspension and cushion. Furthermore, optimization based method is used to determine the optimal dynamic seat parameters for seat suspension, and cushion. It was shown that biodynamic human simulation model is a useful tool to virtually assess the designed seats or design seats. ▼ High-dimensional correlated data arise frequently in many studies. My primary research interests lie broadly in statistical methodology for correlated data such as longitudinal data and panel data. In this thesis, we address two important but challenging issues: model selection for correlated data with diverging number of parameters and consistent moment selection from high-dimensional moment conditions. Longitudinal data arise frequently in biomedical and genomic research where repeated measurements within subjects are correlated. It is important to select relevant covariates when the dimension of the parameters diverges as the sample size increases. We propose the penalized quadratic inference function to perform model selection and estimation simultaneously in the framework of a diverging number of regression parameters. The penalized quadratic inference function can easily take correlation information from clustered data into account, yet it does not require specifying the likelihood function. This is advantageous compared to existing model selection methods for discrete data with large cluster size. In addition, the proposed approach enjoys the oracle property; it is able to identify non-zero components consistently with probability tending to 1, and any finite linear combination of the estimated non-zero components has an asymptotic normal distribution. We propose an efficient algorithm by selecting an effective tuning parameter to solve the penalized quadratic inference function. Monte Carlo simulation studies have the proposed method selecting the correct model with a high frequency and estimating covariate effects accurately even when the dimension of parameters is high. We illustrate the proposed approach by analyzing periodontal disease data. The generalized method of moments (GMM) approach combines moment conditions optimally to obtain efficient estimation without specifying the full likelihood function. However, the GMM estimator could be infeasible when the number of moment conditions exceeds the sample size. This research intends to address issues arising from the motivating problem where the dimension of estimating equations or moment conditions far exceeds the sample size, such as in selecting informative correlation structure or modeling for dynamic panel data. We propose a Bayesian information type of criterion to select the optimal number of linear combinations of moment conditions. In theory, we show that the proposed criterion leads to consistent selection of the number of principal components for the weighting matrix in the GMM. Monte Carlo studies indicate that the proposed method outperforms existing methods in the sense of reducing bias and improving the efficiency of estimation. ▼ In this research paper, it evaluates the benefits achievable from static testing framework by analyzing and transforming the JUnit3.8 source code and static execution of transformed code. Static structure enables us to analyze the code statically during creation and execution of test cases. The concept of research is by now well established in static analysis and testing development. The research approach is also increasingly affecting the static testing process and such research oriented work has proved particularly valuable for those of us who want to understand the reflective behavior of JUnit3.8 Framework. JUnit3.8 Framework uses Java Reflection API to invoke core functionality (test cases creation and execution) dynamically. However, Java Reflection API allows developers to access and modify structure and behavior of a program. Reflection provides flexible solution for creating test cases and controlling the execution of test cases. Java reflection helps to encapsulate test cases in a single object representing the test suite. It also helps to associate each test method with a test object. Where reflection is a powerful tool to perform potential operations, on the other hand, it limits static analysis. Static analysis tools often cannot work effectively with reflection. In order to avoid the reflection, Static Testing Framework provides a static platform to analyze the JUnit3.8 source code and transform it into non-reflective version that emulates the dynamic behavior of JUnit3.8. The transformed source code has possible leverage to replace reflection with static code and does same things in an execution environment of Static Testing Framework that reflection does in JUnit3.8. More besides, the transformed code also enables execution environment of Static Testing Framework to run test methods statically. In order to measure the degree of efficiency, the implemented tool is evaluated. The evaluation of Static Testing Framework draws results for different Java projects and these statistical data is compared with JUnit3.8 results to measure the effectiveness of Static Testing Framework. As a result of evaluation, STF can be used for static creation and execution of test cases up to JUnit3.8 where test cases are not creating within a test class and where real definition of constructors is not required. These problems can be dealt as future work by introducing a middle layer to execute test fixtures for each test method and by generating test classes as per real definition of constructors.

La dengue circule en Polynésie française sur un mode épidémique depuis plus de 35 ans. Néanmoins, en dépit de la taille relativement faible de la population de Polynésie française, la circulation de la dengue peut persister à de faibles niveaux pendant de nombreuses années. L’objectif de ce travail de thèse est de déterminer si l'épidémiologie de la dengue dans le système insulaire de la Polynésie française répond aux critères d’un contexte de métapopulation. Après avoir constitué une base de données regroupant les cas de dengue répertoriés sur les 35 dernières années, nous avons réalisé des analyses épidémiologiques descriptives et statistiques. Celles-ci ont révélé des disparités spatio-temporelles distinctes pour l’incidence de la dengue des archipels et des îles, mais la structure de l'épidémie globale à l’échelle de la Polynésie française pour un même sérotype ne semble pas être affectée. Les analyses de la métapopulation ont révélé l'incidence asynchrone de la dengue dans un grand nombre d’îles. Celle-ci s’observe plus particulièrement par la différence de dynamique de l’incidence entre les îles plus peuplées et celles ayant une population plus faible. La taille critique de la communauté nécessaire à la persistance de la dengue n’est même pas atteinte par la plus grande île de Polynésie Française, Tahiti. Ce résultat suggère que la dengue peut uniquement persister grâce à sa propagation d’île en île. L'incorporation de la connectivité des îles à travers des modèles de migration humaine dans un modèle mathématique a produit une dynamique de la dengue davantage en adéquation avec les données observées, que les tentatives de modélisation traitant la population dans son ensemble. Le modèle de la métapopulation a été capable de simuler la même dynamique que les cas de dengue observés pour l'épidémie et la transmission endémique qui a suivi pour la période de 2001 à 2008. Des analyses complémentaires sur la différenciation de l'incidence de la maladie et de l'infection seront probablement instructives pour affiner le modèle de métapopulation de l'épidémiologie de la dengue en Polynésie française.

Dengue has been epidemic in French Polynesia for the past 35 years. Despite the relatively small population size in French Polynesia, dengue does not disappear and can persist at low levels for many years. In light of the large number of islands comprising French Polynesia, this thesis addresses the extent to which a metapopulation context may be the most appropriate to describe the epidemiology and persistence of dengue in this case. After compiling a database of dengue cases over the last 35 years, we used a number of descriptive and statistical epidemiological analyses that revealed distinct spatio-temporal disparity in dengue incidence for archipelago and islands. But the global structure of the epidemics of the same serotype were not affected. ▼ Today, the main research field for the automotive industry is to find solutions for active safety. In order to perceive the surrounding environment, tracking nearby traffic objects plays an important role. Validation of the tracking performance is often done in staged traffic scenarios, where additional sensors, mounted on the vehicles, are used to obtain their true positions and velocities. The difficulty of evaluating the tracking performance complicates its development. An alternative approach studied in this thesis, is to record sequences and use non-causal algorithms, such as smoothing, instead of filtering to estimate the true target states. With this method, validation data for online, causal, target tracking algorithms can be obtained for all traffic scenarios without the need of extra sensors. We investigate how non-causal algorithms affects the target tracking performance using multiple sensors and dynamic models of different complexity. This is done to evaluate real-time methods against estimates obtained from non-causal filtering. Two different measurement units, a monocular camera and a LIDAR sensor, and two dynamic models are evaluated and compared using both causal and non-causal methods. The system is tested in two single object scenarios where ground truth is available and in three multi object scenarios without ground truth. Results from the two single object scenarios shows that tracking using only a monocular camera performs poorly since it is unable to measure the distance to objects. Here, a complementary LIDAR sensor improves the tracking performance significantly. The dynamic models are shown to have a small impact on the tracking performance, while the non-causal application gives a distinct improvement when tracking objects at large distances. Since the sequence can be reversed, the non-causal estimates are propagated from more certain states when the target is closer to the ego vehicle. For multiple object tracking, we find that correct associations between measurements and tracks are crucial for improving the tracking performance with non-causal algorithms.
