ネットワークを利用したマルチメディアコンテンツの流通・販売が本格化する中、これらはコンピュータ上での作業が容易に行えるため、違法であるにも関わらず無断でコピーをされてしまう、といった著作権の問題が生じている。近年、そのような著作権保護の対策技術として、電子透かしが注目を集めている。電子透かしを埋め込む技術において、DCTを取り上げ、電子透かしにとって必要な「原画との差がより分かりにくい」画像を作るにはどうすればよいか。考えられる問題点を指摘し、それよりも良い計算手法を挙げ、評価を下す。
