The objective of this study was to evaluate 2 classification criteria used in the prioritization of dental caries treatment in the Family Health Program. The research took place in the city of Ipiguá SP and included 538 five to twelve year-old children registered in public schools and attended by the local Family Health Unit. An oral examination and the fulfilling of the two classification criteria were done for the same children in order to evaluate the priorities in curative odontological care resulting from each of the criterion. Among the 538 children who were examined there were 313 (58,3%) in need of curative treatment. Based on the activity of the caries, it was possible to verify that 236 children (75,4%) were considered first priority in odontological care, while the criterion based on the amount and the size of the cavity included 73 children (23,4%). According to the criteria, 186 children (59,4%%) did not fit into the same priority of curative treatment for caries. The criteria for classification of caries used in the registration of the oral health conditions are very different in determining the priority of curative odontological treatment. Therefore, more studies related to the subject should allow creating a pattern for registration of the oral health conditions of children who use the Family Health Program.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar dois critérios utilizados no Programa Saúde da Família (PSF) para determinação da prioridade do atendimento odontológico curativo da cárie. O estudo foi feito no município de Ipiguá SP, entre 538 crianças de cinco a doze anos de idade, matriculadas na rede pública de ensino e atendidas na Unidade de Saúde da Família da cidade. Realizou-se o exame bucal e preenchimento de dois critérios de classificação para as mesmas crianças, para avaliar as prioridades no atendimento odontológico curativo resultantes de cada um dos critérios. Entre as 538 crianças examinadas havia 313 (58,3%) com necessidade de tratamento curativo. Com base na atividade da doença cárie, verificou-se que 236 crianças (75,4%) foram consideradas como primeira prioridade no atendimento odontológico, enquanto que o critério baseado na quantidade e tamanho da cavidade de cárie incluiu 73 crianças (23,4%). Conforme os critérios, 186 crianças (59,4%) não estiveram presentes na mesma prioridade de tratamento curativo para a cárie. Os dois critérios utilizados no PSF foram bastante diferentes na determinação da prioridade do atendimento odontológico curativo da cárie. Conclui-se que para determinar a prioridade do tratamento restaurador da cárie é necessário considerar a atividade da doença, a quantidade de cavidades e a necessidade de tratamento. Assim, mais pesquisas neste contexto devem permitir a padronização do cadastramento das condições de saúde bucal de crianças usuárias do PSF.

Apesar de sua comprovada efetividade, o clareamento dent?rio pode levar ? duvida quanto a presen?a de sensibilidade dent?ria. Por isso, tem-se buscado alternativas que possam reduzir a principal limita??o do cirurgi?o-dentista. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar o risco absoluto e a intensidade da sensibilidade do clareamento com per?xido de hidrog?nio a 35%, seguindo um protocolo de n?o aplica??o do gel no ter?o cervical. Trinta e cinco pacientes foram selecionados para este ensaio cl?nico randomizado, paralelo, duplo cego e do tipo boca-dividida. Randomicamente, o grupo Barreira no Sulco (BS) recebeu a barreira gengival de resina fotopolimeriz?vel at? o n?vel do sulco gengival, e o grupo Barreira Cervical (BC) a barreira foi estendida por cerca de 2mm at? que inclu?sse toda a regi?o do ter?o cervical dos dentes. O per?xido de hidrog?nio a 35% foi aplicado tr?s vezes por 15 minutos, resultando em 45 minutos de cada sess?o de clareamento. Foram realizadas 2 sess?es com intervalo de 1 semana. A sensibilidade foi avaliada em 1 hora ap?s cada sess?o, entre 24 e 48 horas ap?s e no retorno de 30 dias, por meio da Escala Num?rica (NRS) e da Escala Visual Anal?gica (VAS). A avalia??o da cor foi realizada antes do estudo, em um per?odo de 1 semana ap?s a primeira sess?o, 2 semanas ap?s a primeira sess?o e 30 dias ap?s a segunda sess?o, com a escala Vita Cl?ssica, escala Vita Bleach e espectrofot?metro Easyshade. A mudan?a de cor do clareamento e a intensidade da sensibilidade dent?ria foram avaliadas pelo teste de Wilcoxon pareado. O risco absoluto de sensibilidade dent?ria foi comparado pelo teste Mc Nemar (? = 0.05). A efic?cia do clareamento foi observada nos dois grupos ap?s 3 semanas do tratamento, sem diferen?a estat?stica. N?o foi detectada diferen?a nos termos de risco ? sensibilidade e intensidade da sensibilidade entre os grupos. Aproximadamente, 86% dos participantes experimentaram sensibilidade dent?ria, que foi registrada principalmente como ?leve?. A n?o aplica??o do gel com per?xido de hidrog?nio a 35% no ter?o cervical parece n?o afetar o grau de clareamento e a sensibilidade dent?ria.

Despite its proven effectiveness, the bleaching can lead to doubt regarding the presence of tooth sensitivity. Therefore, alternatives have been sought to reduce the main limitation of the dentist. The study aimed to compare the absolute risk and intensity of the sensitivity of bleaching with hydrogen peroxide to 35%, following a protocol of non-application of the gel in the cervical area. Thirty-five patients were select for this parallel, double-blind study, split-mouth randomized trial. Randomly, the Barrier Sulcus (BS) group received the light-curable resin gingival barrier to the level of the gingival sulcus, and the Cervical Barrier (CB) group the barrier was extended by about 2mm to include the entire cervical area of the teeth. ▼ Les potentialités du nitrure de gallium (GaN) et notamment de l'hétérostructure AlGaN/GaN, semiconducteur à large bande interdite, en font un matériau particulièrement intéressant en électronique de puissance, notamment pour des applications haute tension, haute température et haute fréquence. L'objectif de ce travail de thèse était de développer et d'optimiser l'étape d'isolation de la grille lors la réalisation de transistors MIS-HEMT de puissance sur hétérostructure AlGaN/GaN, le but étant de réduire les courants de fuite de grille sans perturber les propriétés du transistor. Après avoir évaluation, le choix s'est porté sur l'alumine Al2O3 déposé par ALD comme diélectrique de grille. L'étude s'est d'abord concentrée sur l'analyse de l'influence de traitements, chimiques ou plasma, sur la contamination de la surface d'AlGaN au travers d'analyses XPS et AFM. Puis, l'influence du diélectrique de grille a été évalué à travers la réalisation et la mesure électrique de dispositifs, diodes et transistors, en variant les méthodes de dépôt par ALD. Enfin, l'impact d'un recess par gravure ICP-RIE partielle ou complètes de la barrière d'AlGaN sous la grille a été étudiée. La réalisation d'un HEMT passe par l'étape critique du dépôt du diélectrique de grille sur le semiconducteur, et le contrôle de la qualité de l'interface " diélectrique/AlGaN " est donc une étape fondamentale car elle influe sur les propriétés électriques du composant. Ce contrôle comprend le traitement de surface du semiconducteur, mais aussi la nature et la technique de dépôt du diélectrique. Ainsi il apparaît à travers l'étude qu'un traitement de surface à l'ammoniaque à haute température est le plus efficaces pour retirer les contamination en oxydes natifs. Les mesures électriques, C(V) et Id(Vg), ont quant à elle montrés la supériorité de la PEALD par rapport à un dépôt thermique conventionnel. Ceci peut s'expliquer par le fait que le plasma oxygène qui entre jeu lors du dépôt de l'alumine par PEALD semble nettoyer la surface lors des premiers cycles, retirant notamment la contamination carbone. Cela permet d'avoir une meilleure interface entre l'alumine et le semi-conducteur, limitant les pièges à l'interface et dans l'oxyde. Cela a réduit de manière considérable les courants de fuite de grille, sans détériorer la qualité et la rapidité de la transition entre l'état on et off. De plus, les HEMTs réalisé étant de type normally-off, le recess de grille par gravure ICP-RIE a été implémenté afin de rendre moins négative la tension de pincement. Cela a été réalisé avec succès, notamment avec la réalisation d'un composant de type noramlly-off grâce à un recess total de la barrière d'AlGaN sous la grille. Des résultats à l'état de l'art ont été obtenus à travers une approche simple, et un processus de création de transistors robuste et hautement reproductible, avec une réduction importante des courants de fuite de grille et une pente sous le seuil record. グレリンは、単胃動物では主として胃から、また反芻動物では第４胃から分泌されることが見出されている。グレリンの機能は、成長ホルモン（ＧＨ）の内因性分泌促進物質（ＧＨＳ）であり、また採食の調節因子である。これらグレリンの２つの作用は、家畜の成長や肉と乳の生産に密接に関わっていることから、グレリン分泌の制御機構が注目されている。この博士論文は、ウシにおける３種類の脳・腸管ペプチドホルモン、エンドセリン（ＥＴ）、ガストリン、ガストリン放出ペプチド（ＧＲＰ）によるグレリン分泌制御、ＧＨとインスリンの分泌制御、さらにはグルコース代謝調節について研究した結果である。　第２章では、固相合成法（ＳＰＰＳ）による、２３種のポリペプチドの化学合成について述べる。ウシ・ペプチドホルモンやその特異的抗体は市販されていないものが多いため、本研究を遂行するために合成する必要があり、動物への投与実験では合成したペプチドホルモンが利用された。それらは、ウシ硫酸化ガストリン－３４、Ｎ－ＧＲＰ－ＥＥ（ＧＲＰ受容体アンタゴニスト）、[D-Lys3]－ＧＨＲＰ－６（ＧＨＳ受容体１ａ型「ＧＨＳ－Ｒ１ａ」アンタゴニスト）、ＩＲＬ１６２０（エンドセリンＢ受容体「ＥＴB」の特異的アゴニスト）などである。また、合成ペプチドは一次抗体を作るためのハプテンとしても利用され、ラジオイムノアッセイ（ＲＩＡ）では希釈標準ペプチドおよび放射化標識ペプチドとして用いられた。また、免疫したモルモットやニワトリの特異的一次抗体を利用して、ＲＩＡ測定系を構築した。ＲＩＡ測定系により、血漿中の硫酸化ガストリン、全ガストリン、ＧＲＰ、Ｎ－ＧＲＰ－ＥＥ、[D-Lys3]－ＧＨＲＰ－６などを測定した。　第３章から第６章では、ホルスタイン雄授乳仔牛および４～９ヶ月齢ホルスタイン去勢牛を用いた動物実験について述べる。第３章の研究目的は、エンドセリン－３（ＥＴ－３）投与によって引き起こされるグレリンとＧＨの分泌やグルコース代謝変化に関与する受容体を明らかにすることである。ＥＴ－３は、投与用量に依存してアシルグレリン、全グレリン、および、グルコースの濃度を有意に上昇させ、体重kgあたり0.4、0.7、または1.0μgのＥＴ－３投与により、ＧＨ濃度が増加した。その増加の程度は、0.7μgの方が1.0μgより大きかった。また、ＩＲＬ１６２０もＥＴ－３と同様の効果を示し、血漿中のグレリン、ＧＨ、およびグルコースを上げることから、ＥＴ－３の反応にＥＴB受容体が関与していることが明らかになった。また、ＥＴ－３で誘起される血漿ＧＨ上昇は、[D-Lys3]－ＧＨＲＰ－６により阻害されることから、ＥＴ－３によるＧＨ分泌刺激にＧＨＳ－Ｒ１ａの関与が確認された。　第４章では、去勢牛の静脈内に硫酸化ガストリン－３４を投与し、血漿中のグレリン、ＧＨ、インスリン、グルカゴン、およびグルコース等の濃度変化を調べた結果を述べる。アシルグレリンと全グレリン濃度は、ガストリンの投与量に依存して有意に増加した（P<0.05）。ＧＨ濃度もガストリン投与で増加するが（P<0.05）、高投与量20μg/kgでは、投与量4.0μg/kgよりＧＨの増加分が低かった。また、インスリン濃度は、３種の異なる投与量のガストリンでいずれも15分以内に減少し（P<0.05）、最終の血液採取時間まで低濃度が持続した。一方、ガストリンはグルカゴンおよびグルコースの濃度に何ら影響しなかった（P>0.05）。　第５章では、様々な種類のガストリンによる血漿グレリンとＧＨの濃度変化を調べ、それらの離乳前後での変化を研究した。また、ガストリンによる内因性のグレリン分泌とＧＨ分泌の関係を調べた。離乳前の仔牛における血漿ＧＨ濃度は、硫酸化ガストリン－１７の投与後、15－20分で有意に増加した（P<0.05）。しかし、アシルグレリン変化は仔牛間で変動が大きく、有意な結果は得られなかった。離乳後の仔牛では、血漿中のグレリンとＧＨの濃度は硫酸化型および非硫酸化型ガストリン－１７の投与によって、同程度に増加した。ガストリン－１７による増加は、硫酸化型では１０分間持続するが、非硫酸型では５分しか続かなかった。一方、硫酸型ガストリン－９は、血漿中のグレリンとＧＨの濃度になんの影響も起こさなかった。さらに、[D-Lys3]－ＧＨＲＰ－６の同時投与は、ガストリンで誘起されるＧＨ分泌を阻害しなかった。最後の結果は、ガストリンによるＧＨ分泌増加がグレリン・ＧＨＳ－Ｒ系とは無関係であることを示唆している。　第６章においては、ボンベシン様ペプチドが離乳前後のウシ血漿中のグレリン、ＧＨ、インスリン、グルカゴン、およびグルコースの濃度に及ぼす影響を調査し、それらがどの受容体を介して起こるか調べた。ＧＲＰまたはニューロメジンＣ（ＮＭＣ）の離乳去勢仔牛における静脈投与は、両ペプチドとも５分以内にＧＨおよびインスリンの濃度を増加させた。ＮＭＣ投与は、ＧＨ変化では1.0μg/kg、インスリン変化では0.2μg/kgで有意な結果が認められた。血漿グルコースは、ＮＭＣ投与直後あるいはＧＲＰ投与直後に基礎濃度以上に増加するが、すぐに基礎濃度以下に減少した。ＮＭＣとＮ－ＧＲＰ－ＥＥの同時投与は、ＮＭＣによるＧＨ、インスリン、およびグルコース等の変化を完全に阻害したが、ＮＭＣと[D-Lys3]－ＧＨＲＰ－６の同時投与はＮＭＣによるＧＨ分泌を阻害しなかった。また、ニューロメジンＢ（ＮＭＢ）あるいはＮ－ＧＲＰ－ＥＥの単独投与は血漿ホルモンやグルコースの濃度に全く影響を及ぼさないことから、ＧＲＰおよびＮＭＣによる効果はＧＲＰ受容体を介していると予想される。ＮＭＣ投与が誘起するＧＨとインスリンの変化量は離乳前後で同程度だったが、変化の持続時間は離乳前が離乳後より長かった。一方、グレリン濃度の変化は認められなかった。　この論文では以下が明らかとなった。（１）去勢牛におけるＥＴ－３の投与は、ＥＴB受容体を介する内因性グレリン分泌を起こさせ、ＧＨの分泌が誘起される。（２）ガストリンの２つの主成分であるガストリン－１７とガストリン－３４は、グレリンとＧＨの分泌を増加させるが、その活性にはガストリンの硫酸化は無関係で、離乳前後に大きな違いはない。また、ＧＨの分泌にグレリンとＧＨＳ－Ｒ１ａは関与していない。（３）離乳前オス仔牛と離乳後の去勢牛において、ＧＲＰとＮＭＣはＧＲＰ受容体を介してＧＨ分泌を増加させる。

In the last three decades, memory safety issues in low-level programming languages such as C or C++ have been one of the significant sources of security vulnerabilities; however, there exist only a few attempts with limited success to cope with the complexity of C++ program verification. This work describes and evaluates a novel verification approach based on bounded model checking (BMC) and satisfiability modulo theories (SMT) to verify C++ programs formally. This verification approach analyzes bounded C++ programs by encoding various sophisticated features that the C++ programming language offers into SMT, such as templates, sequential and associative containers, inheritance, polymorphism, and exception handling. We formalize these sophisticated features within our formal verification framework using a decidable fragment of first-order logic and then show how state-of-the-art SMT solvers can efficiently handle that. We implemented this verification approach on top of the Efficient SMT-Based Context-Bounded Model Checker (ESBMC). We compare ESBMC to LLBMC and DIVINE, which are state-of-the-art verifiers to check C++ programs directly from LLVM bitcode. The experimental evaluation contains a set of over 1,500 benchmarks from several sources (e.g., Deitel & Deitel, NEC Corporation, and GCC test suite), which covers several C++ features. Experimental results show that ESBMC can handle a wide range of C++ programs, presenting a higher number of correct verification results, and at the same time, it reduces the verification time if compared to LLBMC and DIVINE tools.

Este trabalho descreve e avalia o Efficient SMT-Based Context-Bounded Model Checker (ESBMC) para verificar formalmente programas C++. O ESBMC implementa a t?cnica de verifica??o de modelos limitados (do ingl?s, bounded model checking – BMC) com base em teorias do m?dulo da satisfabilidade (do ingl?s, satisfiability modulo theories – SMT) para lidar com recursos complexos que a linguagem de programa??o C++ oferece, tais como templates, cont?ineres sequenciais e associativos, heran?a, polimorfismo e manipula??o de exce??es. ESBMC ? comparado as ferramentas LLBMC e DIVINE, as quais verificam os programas C++ diretamente a n?vel de bitcode do LLVM. Resultados experimentais mostram que o ESBMC pode lidar com uma ampla gama de estruturas do C++, apresentando uma taxa de aproximadamente 85% de verifica??es corretas e, ao mesmo tempo, reduzindo o tempo de verifica??o se comparado as ferramentas LLBMC e DIVINE.

▼ With the advent of Rich Internet Application (RIA) technologies which are crucial to Web 2.0 sites, Internet user experience has moved from the click-and-wait mode to a richer, faster and more interactive mode. Instead of refreshing the entire web page every time when a user requests a change, only updated information within the web page is modified. This allows RIAs to behave and feel more like desktop applications. Due to the evolving nature of RIAs, many efficiency issues need to be resolved before RIAs can behave like desktop applications. Ensuring the efficiency of RIAs is now an important issue. This is the reason why many web browsers advertise the speed of their JavaScript engines as one of the key features. Additionally, web application performance issues can affect corporate revenues because with every 1-second delay, customer satisfaction decreases . Two of the most popular RIA technologies are Adobe Flash and Ajax, and the efficiency of RIAs using both of these technologies can be improved. This dissertation introduces refactoring as a method to improve the efficiency of applications built using these platforms. Programmers using the techniques and tools introduced in this dissertation can greatly improve the efficiency and user experience of their applications. More specifically, the thesis introduces four techniques and tools. • A refactoring tool called ActionScript Refactoring Tool (ART) is introduced to improve the efficiency of Flash applications by rewriting ActionScript 3.0 code. • To aid programmers embed Flash programs effectively, a refactoring tool called FlashembedRT is introduced. This tool can refactor five popular markup-based Flash embedding methods to a JavaScript-based Flash embedding method called flashembed. • A refactoring approach to aid programmers transform their XML data structures into JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)-based structures to improve the efficiency of their applications is presented. A proof of concept tool called XtoJ shows that this transformation can be automated to help programmers rapidly access the efficiency gained when JSON is used. • A refactoring system called Form Transformation Tool (FTT) is proposed as a technique to help programmers convert traditional web forms into Web 2.0 Ajax-enabled forms.

A disserta??o aborda as representa??es da mulher produzidas e difundidas pelos peri?dicos amazonenses na virada do s?culo XIX para o s?culo XX, momento em que o Estado do Amazonas atravessava uma fase de expans?o da economia de exporta??o da borracha. Vivenciando grandes transforma??es, a capital amazonense passou por uma faze de acentuada moderniza??o proporcionada pela nova economia. Dentre as imagens da modernidade trazida pelo ?novo s?culo? XX, estavam as de uma ?nova mulher?, cuja maior visibilidade na cena p?blica parecia inquietar e atemorizar a sociedade, j? que suas pr?ticas passavam a confrontar o tradicionalismo da sociedade patriarcal ent?o vigente. Os peri?dicos foram testemunhas dessas transforma??es e suas posi??es, por vezes conflitivas e contradit?rias, indicavam a forma como a sociedade do per?odo pensou e sentiu aquelas transforma??es.

The dissertation addresses the representations of women produced and disseminated by Amazonian periodicals at the turn of the nineteenth to the twentieth century, at which time the State of Amazonas undergoing a period of economic expansion of rubber exports. Experiencing major transformations, the capital of Amazonas has undergone a make a sharp modernization provided by the new economy. Among the images of modernity brought by the "new century" XX, were those of the "new woman" whose visibility in the public arena seemed to unsettle and intimidate society, since their practices went to confront the traditionalism of the then prevailing patriarchal society. Periodicals were witnesses of these transformations and their positions, sometimes conflicting, contradictory, indicating how the society of the period thought and felt those transformations.

L'une des principales limites à la culture des microalgues est leur faible efficacité de conversion de la lumière du soleil. Si la culture prend place au sein d’un photobioréacteur, une autre limitation est alors sa consommation énergétique. Certaines technologies de cellules solaires n’absorbent qu’une partie de la lumière incidente pour produire de l’électricité, leur transparence dans une certaine gamme de longueurs d’onde pourrait permettre la photosynthèse. Pour améliorer le rendement global de photoconversion et apporter un support énergétique, un système couplé photobioréacteur (PBR)/photovoltaïque (PV) peut être développé. Cette thèse propose d’appliquer une cellule solaire en silicium amorphe hydrogéné (a-Si:H) directement sur la surface illuminée des PBR. Pour être compatible avec la croissance des microalgues, la transparence des cellules a-Si:H est, dans un premier temps, améliorée de 3% grâce à un plan d’expériences qui permet d’optimiser les épaisseurs des couches minces. Le montage d’un test de croissance avec une algue G. sulphuraria permet de confirmer que la filtration de la lumière incidente par la cellule PV n’influence pas la croissance des algues. Le rendement PV de ces cellules est ensuite amélioré grâce à des traitements optiques du substrat obtenu par gravure sèche réactive. Une texturation à la fois anti-réfléchissante et légèrement diffusante est développée et permet d’augmenter le rendement jusqu’à 5,2%. Dans un second temps, la technologie est adaptée sur un substrat souple. Un travail d’optimisation du dépôt de a-Si:H a été mené pour obtenir des cellules solaires sur PEN dont le rendement PV est de 2,1%. Une dernière partie de l’étude porte sur l’analyse des résultats obtenus dans cette thèse à partir de cas concrets de PBR intégrés aux bâtiments afin de calculer les performances d’un système PV/PBR/Bâtiment. Les technologies développées dans cette thèse permettraient de répondre en intégralité à la demande énergétique des biofaçades sans dégrader le rendement global des photobioréacteurs.

One of the main limitations of microalgae culture is the low efficiency of sunlight conversion. If the culture takes place in a closed medium, a photobioreactor, another limitation is the energy consumption. Semi-transparent solar cells technologies only absorb a part of the incident light to produce electricity while being transparent in a specific wavelength range. This will allow the photosynthesis needed for microalgae growth. To improve the overall photoconversion efficiency and provide energy support, a photobioreactor (PBR) and photovoltaic technology (PV) coupled system can be developed. Thin film solar cells based on hydrogenated amorphous silicon technology could be directly placed on the PBR surface. The first step to reach this objective is to enhance the solar cell transparency by 3% by means of a design of experiment which redefine the thicknesses of thin layers. La formation de l'émail dentaire met en jeu des phosphoprotéines sécrétées liant le calcium. Parmi celles-ci figurent amélogénine (AMEL), améloblastine (AMBN) et énaméline (ENAM), qui ont fait l'objet de nombreuses études chez les mammifères. Plus récemment, une quatrième protéine de la même famille a été découverte, l'amélotine (AMTN). Elle n'a été étudiée que chez les rongeurs et son rôle au cours de l'amélogenèse reste mal défini. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'élargir les connaissances sur AMTN en étudiant son évolution chez les amniotes et son expression au cours de l'amélogenèse chez le lézard Anolis carolinensis. Les séquences d'AMTN d'un grand nombre d'amniotes ont été extraites des bases de données ou obtenues par PCR, et analysées. Ces analyses ont mis en évidence différentes structures géniques et des acides aminés très conservés au cours de l'évolution. Cette conservation indique qu'ils sont essentiels à la structure ou à la fonction de la protéine. L'expression d'AMTN ainsi que celle d'AMEL, AMBN et ENAM ont été étudiées par hybridation in situ sur des coupes de mâchoires de lézard. La comparaison des patrons d'expression chez le lézard avec ceux décrits chez la souris a révélé des différences dans l'expression spatio-temporelle d'AMTN. De ce fait, afin de mieux comprendre l'évolution de ce gène, son expression a été étudiée chez un amphibien (Pleurodeles waltl) et un marsupial (Monodelphis domestica).Ces travaux suggère un lien entre l'évolution de la structure génique d'AMTN (perte d'exons et de domaines fonctionnels) et de son expression (précoce versus tardive) avec l'émergence de la structure prismatique de l'émail chez les mammifères.

Enamel formation requires the involvement of secretory calcium-binding phosphoproteins. Three of them, amelogenin (AMEL), ameloblastin (AMBN) and enamelin (ENAM), have been extensively studied in mammals. More recently, a fourth protein belonging to the same family has been identified: amelotin (AMTN). AMTN has only been studied in rodents and its role during amelogenesis remains unclear.The aim of this thesis is to extend the knowledge on AMTN by studying its evolution in amniotes and its expression in the lizard Anolis carolinensis.AMTN sequences from many amniote species have been extracted from databases or obtained by PCR, and analyzed. Those analyses allowed us to reveal differences in the gene structure and to highlight residues that were conserved during mammalian or amniote evolution. These conserved amino acids are essential to the structure and/or function of the protein.The expression of AMTN and of AMEL, AMBN and ENAM has been studied by in situ hybridization on lizard jaw sections. Comparison of the expression pattern of these genes during amelogenesis in the lizard with that described in rodents points to similarities (AMEL, AMBN and ENAM) but also to important differences, especially in the spatio-temporal expression of AMTN. Research into the consequences of engineering works on the long-term behaviour of inlet systems has been hindered by the absence of suitable datasets, the shortcomings of existing formulae when applied to different inlets, and the difficulties particular to multi-inlet situations. Cross-sectional channel areas adjust to hydrodynamics and sediment transport conditions. The impacts of a new inlet on the adjacent shoreline can be unpredictable and are difficult to quantify. The coupling of morphology and hydrodynamics analysis should therefore be extended to all inlets in order to infer the stability of the overall system based on the distribution of the tidal prism through time and the patterns of inlet circulation and sediment transport. Within this thesis both historical and present-day hydrodynamic data collected using high frequency equipment are combined to analyse the recent evolution and equilibrium of a multiple-inlet system. Methods for calculating sediment budgets, analysing the evolution of inlet parameters and determining present hydrodynamic and sediment transport patterns are coupled together, with the aim of improving understanding and prediction of tidal inlet morphodynamics. The results augment existing knowledge about multiple-inlet systems and improve understanding of their short- to medium-term stability. The findings indicate that combining sediment budget calculation and inlet parameter analysis is useful for understanding historical sediment pathways and magnitudes, as well as for analysing the evolution of an inlet, or multiple-inlet system, towards equilibrium. Existing formulae for inferring inlet stability that relate crosssectional area to tidal prism should be revised with a view to including other external variables (e.g. stratigraphic controls) and making their application more flexible to cope with the range of different inlet conditions. Although it is generally acknowledged that most multiple inlets are unstable and cannot co-exist, detailed measurements of hydrodynamic variables obtained over complete spring and neap tidal cycles in a multiple-inlet system in Southern Portugal (Ria Formosa) indicate that the two main inter-connected inlets servicing an embayment (Faro-Olhão and Arrmona inlets) can coexist, at least over a time scale of several decades. Their coexistence cannot be explained simply using empirical equilibrium relations or inlet hydraulics. Residual flow between the inlets appears to play an important role in enhancing their stability. The morphology of the inner channels connecting the inlets can play an important role in inlet stability by controlling the interconnections between the inlets. O zooplâncton, composto maioritariamente por copépodes em diferentes estágios de desenvolvimento, é uma das principais comunidades biológicas da teia trófica estuarina. Esta comunidade é responsável pela transferência de nutrientes e de energia para níveis tróficos superiores, sendo o principal alimento para larvas de peixes, e pode também desempenhar um papel relevante no controlo de blooms de algas. Assim, a compreensão dos factores que afectam a dinâmica do zooplâncton nos estuários é de especial importância, constituindo os modelos numéricos, devidamente validados com dados, ferramentas úteis no estudo desta dinâmica. No presente estudo desenvolveu-se um novo modelo para simular a dinâmica ecológica da Ria de Aveiro. Este modelo tridimensional, ECO-SELFE, resulta do acoplamento de um modelo hidrodinâmico de malhas não-estruturadas, SELFE, e da extensão do modelo ecológico EcoSim 2.0 para simular a dinâmica do zooplâncton. O modelo acoplado, de aplicação genérica a qualquer sistema estuarino e costeiro, permite a simulação de várias variáveis ecológicas (zooplâncton, fitoplâncton, bacterioplâncton, matéria orgânica dissolvida e particulada, nutrientes inorgânicos e carbono inorgânico dissolvido), considerando os ciclos do carbono, do azoto, do fósforo, da sílica e do ferro. A formulação adoptada para a simulação da dinâmica do zooplâncton baseia-se em resultados de trabalhos de investigação realizados na Ria de Aveiro. Os testes sintéticos realizados preliminarmente evidenciaram o bom desempenho do modelo acoplado em termos de conservação de massa e permitiram reproduzir de forma adequada a dinâmica zooplâncton-fitoplâncton num sistema fechado. Dado que uma das principais dificuldades na aplicação de modelos ecológicos complexos a sistemas reais consiste no elevado número de parâmetros de entrada, realizou-se uma análise de sensibilidade à influência destes parâmetros nos resultados finais do modelo. Esta análise evidenciou que os parâmetros relativos ao crescimento do fitoplâncton dependente da temperatura, à ingestão de alimento pelo zooplâncton e às taxas de mortalidade e de excreção do zooplâncton são dos que mais influenciam os resultados do modelo. A aplicação do modelo à Ria de Aveiro, considerando um total de 23 traçadores ecológicos, revelou que o modelo representa de forma razoável a dinâmica ecológica ao longo da Ria durante os períodos simulados (Outono de 2000 e Primavera de 2001), para além de reproduzir adequadamente a hidrodinâmica e o transporte de escalares neste sistema. Uma análise preliminar da dinâmica deste ecossistema sugere a importância da especificação adequada das condições de fronteira e da parametrizações dos processos nas simulações ecológicas, evidenciando também a complexidade associada à sua dinâmica.
