[pt] O conceito da construção sustentável surge após discussões por todo o mundo acerca da possibilidade de desenvolvimento de forma sustentável. Paralelamente à adoção de práticas de sustentabilidade em novos projetos de empreendimentos, surge a necessidade de tornar sustentáveis edificações já existentes. Com isto, observa-se a dificuldade de se encontrar critérios de sustentabilidade para construções existentes aplicáveis no cenário brasileiro. O presente estudo desenvolve-se com uma inicial introdução dos principais certificados, selos e qualificações sustentáveis existentes no Brasil. Na sequência elaborados estudos de caso em duas edificações de diferentes características - ano de construção, bairros, entre outros - na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, nos quais foram analisados e aplicados os critérios de avaliação que constituem o Selo Casa Azul criado a adotado pela CAIXA. Como último passo indicados os obstáculos que cada edificação apresentou para atingir melhores resultados de acordo com o Selo.

[en] The study of the main certifications, seals and qualifications applied in Brazil and in the world reveals the advantages of these certificates for buildings that seek to encourage the practice of sustainability in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Over the next two decades there has been an impasse between developed countries and those who advocated environmental preservation, since the former believed in capitalist economic development only by changing raw materials. Finally, in the 1980s the term sustainable development was created, whose definition consisted in the defense of a development able to meet current needs without harming the possibility of future generations to meet their own needs. Due to this growing concern with the environment, the construction sector needed to adapt to new requirements, changing methods and creating means to control and supervise sustainable practices, through environmental certificates such as LEED, AQUA-HQE, Selo Casa Azul and Qualification Qualiverde.

[pt] Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar os principais fatores que influenciam a adoção e uso de tecnologias no setor de serviços, mais especificadamente no setor de serviços financeiros. O arcabouço teórico permitiu a definição de construtos cognitivos e afetivos para a elaboração do modelo conceitual. Além disso, este modelo incluiu construtos de elevada importância para o consumo de serviços financeiros, como Confiança e Risco Percebido. Por fim, o construto de Prontidão para a Tecnologia, desenvolvido por Parasuraman e Colby (2014) foi adicionado ao modelo, a fim de analisar a influência da predisposição individual em relação às tecnologias em geral, enquanto antecedente dos demais construtos. Os dados da pesquisa foram obtidos por meio de uma survey online, que foi respondida por 402 estudantes ou recém-formados de cursos de graduação e pós-graduação. O modelo final da pesquisa, denominado Modelo de Prontidão e Aceitação de Mobile Payments, indicou que a Prontidão para a Tecnologia exerce maior influência sobre os aspectos cognitivos do que sobre os afetivos, indicando que a prontidão auxilia significativamente o processo racional de avaliação da tecnologia. Além disso, os resultados indicaram que o construto de Utilidades e Vantagens Percebidas exerceu a maior influência sobre a Atitude, seguido pela Confiança e pela Apreciação da Qualidade Percebida, confirmando que os aspectos cognitivos são predominantes no processo de decisão quanto ao uso de serviços financeiros. Por fim, o Risco Percebido apresentou uma influência negativa, mas de pequena magnitude, sobre a Intenção de Uso. O Modelo de Prontidão e Aceitação de Mobile Payments foi capaz de explicar cerca de 76 porcento da Atitude e 68 porcento da Intenção em relação ao uso de tecnologias, mostrando-se um modelo com boa capacidade preditiva e de contribuição relevante para a literatura de aceitação de tecnologias.

[en] This research aimed to investigate what factors influence the adoption and use of technologies in services, more specifically in the financial services sector. The theoretical framework allowed the definition of cognitive and affective constructs for the preparation of the conceptual model. Furthermore, this model also includes constructs with high relevance for consumption of financial services, like Trust and Perceived Risk. Finally, the Technology Readiness construct, developed by Parasuraman and Colby (2014), was added to the model in order to analyze the influence of individual predisposition in relation to technology in general, as an antecedent of the other constructs. Data was collected via an online survey, which was answered by 402 students or recent graduated of graduate and post-graduate courses. ▼ Van der Waals heterostructure is a highly versatile platform to unveil two-dimensional (2D) electron physics and to explore new device functionalities. In this dissertation, we present comprehensive experimental studies of van der Waals heterostructures considering the rotational control between different 2D layers. A hemispherical handle polymer stamp is introduced to improve 2D layer transfer, which allows rotational control when stacking 2D layers. To verify the accuracy of rotational control, we demonstrate a rotationally aligned double monolayer graphene using a sequential pick-up of two graphene layers, which originate from a single crystal domain, and compare it with Bernal stacked bilayer graphene using Raman spectroscopy, scanning probe microscopy (SPM), and electrical transport measurements under an applied transverse electric-field. We also demonstrate resonant tunneling in double bilayer graphene heterostructures using hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) as an interlayer dielectric, in which rotational alignment between the two bilayer graphene is the key ingredient for the device functionality. To further highlight the significance of highly accurate rotational alignment between different layers, we demonstrate tunable moiré crystals in small-twist-angle bilayer graphene. A comprehensive electron transport study is conducted, and the data are compared with SPM results. We observe transport gaps at ±8 electrons per moiré unit cell, along with a conductivity minimum at charge neutrality with twist angle less than 1°. In magnetic fields, we also observe the emergence of a Hofstadter butterfly in the energy spectrum, with four-fold degenerate Landau levels (LLs), and broken symmetry quantum Hall states at filling factors, ν = ±1, ±2, ±3. We demonstrate dual-gated tungsten diselenide (WSe₂) interlayer tunneling devices, consisting of two WSe₂ monolayers with controlled rotational alignment, and separated by a thin hBN tunnel barrier. In samples where the two WSe₂ have a 0° relative twist the tunneling current-voltage characteristics reveal resonant tunneling, manifested by negative differential resistance, which stem from energy and momentum conservation. Because WSe₂ possesses strong spin-orbit coupling which leads to coupled spin-valley degrees of freedom, controlling the angle between the two WSe₂ monolayers allows us to probe the conservation of spin-valley degree of freedom in tunneling. El presente trabajo de tesis proporciona un enfoque para la evaluación de la calidad de aplicaciones Web en el ámbito específico de e-government. Los marcos, metodologías y estándares preexistentes en la industria no aportan aplicaciones particulares a este campo, pero sí pueden ser extendidos o configurados para este medio regido por dinámicas diversas y cambiantes que no siempre pueden asimilarse a experiencias de otros dominios. La gestión de la calidad va lentamente cobrando importancia, y se resalta el rol del usuario que a través de su percepción y opiniones, nos brinda información para realizar direccionamientos hacia un mejor producto, un producto más elegido. Es por ello que se ha llevado a cabo una exhaustiva revisión del estado del arte sobre el concepto general de calidad, y su visión particular desde la Ingeniería de Software. Posteriormente se han analizado los marcos metodológicos y estrategias de M&E preexistentes de los cuales se seleccionó GOCAME para llevar adelante un caso de prueba, basándose en su solidez y numerosos casos de aplicación. Debido a la ausencia de experiencias de medición de calidad en organismos de gobierno, se planteó la necesidad de proponer un modelo de requerimientos de calidad como prototipo para M&E. Como consecuencia se presentó un marco metodológico consistente en el cual desarrollar todas las tareas involucradas en el proceso de evaluación de la calidad, en este caso calidad externa a través de la visión de expertos del dominio, y calidad en uso desde la perspectiva de usuarios reales. El modelo diseñado fue validado conceptualmente a través de la instanciación de la metodología abordada utilizando como caso de estudio una aplicación Web del organismo. Conjuntamente con las mediciones técnicas se planteó la necesidad de caracterizar a los usuarios a través de sus rasgos de preferencias fuertes que fue cruzado con sus opiniones en busca de correlaciones que fundamenten algún patrón o tendencia. Los resultados de la ejecución del plan de evaluación mostraron el estado de situación de la gestión de la calidad desarrollada por el área de IT del organismo, el cual prevé un plan de mejoras, actuación y refinamiento del modelo propuesto para continuar las mediciones extendiéndolo incluso a otras áreas de IT de organismos gubernamentales, reutilizando de esta manera la experiencia adquirida e institucionalizando un proceso de aprendizaje continuo.

Not only in the face of the spatialization of memory in the increasing development of mass media, which Walter Benjamin criticizes, but also in the face of the deterioration of space, the translation of a temporalized memory into a coherent story cannot continue. From Proustâ s immense edifice of memory, to Beckettâ s invention, to Perecâ s spatial preservation of vanished time, to Blanchotâ s dÃ©soeuvrement, the works of these authors traverse the wide span between memory and forgetting in literature. This paper integrates these authors who diverge in the direction of memory, on the one hand, and in the direction of forgetting, on the other. This integration forms passageways that make possible the exchange between these two ends. Communication continues in the gap where memory and forgetting are reflections of each other. ▼ The effect of printing ink sequence for process colors on color gamut and image quality was studied, to determine if there was an optimum printing ink sequence for flexographic printing. The results of using four process color inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) in various sequences in flexography were analyzed in this research. White oriented polypropylene (OPP) film was printed with UV inks on a Mark Andy LP3000 flexo press. The sequences were analyzed based on differences in the color gamut, their volume, ability of the sequence to reproduce better-looking images, and rendering of maximum ink coverage. The results suggest there was no one particular sequence that was proved to be optimum. Among the five sequences (YMCK, MYCK, CMYK, KYMC, and KCMY) tested, only one (KCMY) printed well without producing any moiré-like pattern. The other four sequences (CMYK, YMCK, MYCK, and KYMC) did produce a moiré-like pattern in the heavy ink coverage or shadow regions of the print. However, the sequences showing the moiré-like pattern exhibited bigger color gamuts compared to the one that does not produce a moiré-like pattern. The actual cause for the moiré-like pattern formations is unknown. It may not be due to faulty screen angles. Instead it is suspected that it is related to the wetability of the CMY inks underneath the Black. Further research is needed to find the real reason for the formations of these moiré-like patterns. Thus, it will be difficult to have one optimum ink sequence for flexography, as one sequence may be preferable for obtaining a bigger gamut for a given hue angle, while some other sequence may produce better-looking images without any moiré-like printing artifacts appearing in the prints. If the image to be printed has more colors (requiring a bigger gamut) and limited or no shadow regions, it is recommended to print in the order of CMYK. If the image to be printed has more shadow regions, and less colors (can be printed with a smaller gamut), it is suggested to print with the KCMY sequence. ▼ Conflict is an inevitable feature of social relationships. When people interact, disagreements may arise. Especially in close relationships, people sometimes disagree. Although conflict might jeopardize relationships, conflict is not necessarily detrimental. The way conflicts are handled is important in determining whether conflicts are functional or dysfunctional. Moreover, the way conflicts are handled might reveal information about the nature of relationships and their developmental status. In the current dissertation, the role of conflict resolution in adolescents’ relationships with their parents and friends was investigated in four empirical studies. Data of 323 adolescents and their both parents –that participated in the longitudinal project called CONAMORE (CONflict And Management Of RElationships) – are used. In the first study, we demonstrated the importance of investigating combinations of conflict resolution styles by parents and adolescents. We found that adolescents who used an aggressive conflict resolution style with parents reported higher levels of delinquency, but only when their mothers also used this aggressive conflict resolution style or when their fathers withdrew from conflicts. In the second study, we showed that parents and adolescents change the way they handle conflicts with each other over time towards more positive conflict resolution and less negative conflict resolution, reflecting a realignment of these relationships towards greater egalitarianism. In addition, we found two types of parent-adolescent dyads, one characterized by positive conflict resolution and one characterized by negative conflict resolution by both parents and adolescents. These either positive or negative pathways of conflict resolution were maintained by both parents and adolescents. The third study examined whether transmission of conflict resolution styles from the marital relationship to the adolescent-parent relationship occurred and we indeed found that conflict resolution styles in the marital relationships predicted conflict resolution styles in the adolescent-parent relationship two years later. Finally, in our fourth study, we were able to investigate the daily dynamics of conflict and conflict resolution in adolescent relationships with parents and friends by means of a daily diary method. We demonstrated that perceived relationship satisfaction was highest in a particular relationship on days on which no conflict occurred, second highest on days on which constructive conflict occurred and lowest on days on which unconstructive conflict occurred. Moreover, we demonstrated that whereas unconstructively handled conflict with best friends was related to higher relationship satisfaction the next day, conflict with parents was not related to relationship satisfaction the next day. [pt] Esta dissertação analisa 3.193 fusões e aquisições que satisfazem três condições: a transação foi concluída entre 1994 e 2016, a adquirida é brasileira e pelo menos uma das empresas envolvidas é de capital aberto. Os principais resultados são: i) o múltiplo de mercado documentado é alto: mediana de 9,33 para a razão do Valor Econômico da Empresa sobre o seu EBITDA, enquanto, no mesmo período, a mediana desse múltiplo para todas as empresas brasileiras de capital aberto é de 6,92; ii) 64 porcento das transações na amostra foram horizontais, isso é, envolveram compradoras e adquiridas que operam na mesma indústria; iii) em 51 porcento das transações na amostra, investidores estrangeiros adquiriram empresas brasileiras; iv) empréstimos subsidiados pelo governo brasileiro estão presentes em 73 empresas adquiridas das 218 fusões e aquisições na amostra que envolviam troca de controle, e em 41 empresas adquirentes; e v) um incremento de um ponto percentual no PIB real aumenta em 14,7 porcento o volume financeiro real envolvido nas transações de fusões e aquisições. Os dados sugerem que as fusões e aquisições no Brasil são motivadas por uma busca por aumento de poder de mercado ou por expansão da atuação de empresas estrangeiras no mercado brasileiro. A presença de empréstimos subsidiados nos balanços das empresas adquiridas indica que motivações financeiras para as transações também são relevantes.

[en] This dissertation collects data from 3,193 mergers and acquisitions that meet three conditions: the transaction was completed between 1994 and 2016, the target company is Brazilian and at least one of the companies involved is publicly traded. The main contribution of the dissertation consists of answers to five questions about the mergers and acquisitions market in Brazil. i) the documented market multiple is high: median of 9.33 for the Company s Economic Value ratio over its EBITDA, while in the same period the median of this multiple for all Brazilian publicly traded companies is 6, 92; ii) 64 percent of the transactions in the sample were horizontal, that is, they involved buyers and sellers operating in the same industry; iii) in 51 percent of the transactions in the sample, foreign investors acquired Brazilian companies; iv) loans subsidized by the Brazilian government are present in 73 target companies from the 218 mergers and acquisitions in the sample that involved exchange of control and in 41 acquiring companies; and v) an increase of one percentage point in real GDP increases the real financial volume involved in mergers and acquisitions transactions by 14.7 percent. The data suggest that the activity in the Brazilian merger and acquisition market is motivated by a search for increase of market power or by expanding the performance of foreign companies in the Brazilian market. The presence of subsidized loans in the balance sheets of the acquired companies indicates that financial motivations for the transactions are also relevant.

▼ In 2004, US Time magazine named Glasgow Europe’s ‘capital of rock music’ and likened it to Detroit in its Motown heyday (Porter, 2004). In 2008 UNESCO awarded Glasgow the title of ‘City of Music’ and the application dossier submitted in support of this title noted the importance of rock and pop for the city’s musical reputation. Since the late 1970s a large number of bands have emerged from (or been associated with) the city, yet little academic research has been carried out to determine the factors behind this phenomenon. This thesis, then, aims to address this deficiency. To do so, it questions the notion of the meaning of the term ‘scene' and highlights the changing importance, between 1979 and 2009, of different components within Glasgow’s music scene. In doing this, the thesis examines the importance and role of different ‘foci’ for sustaining popular music production at a grassroots level. These foci (where local music makers meet, socialise, and develop lasting connections) include record shops, studios (rehearsal and recording), live performance venues, and virtual social spaces of the Internet. In foregrounding music making as a social practice, involving interactions between individuals in a wide variety of roles (rather than only between music makers), the study employs network theory as a means of exploring these connections. The resultant analysis highlights the importance of different forms of capital for cultural production. In particular, it argues that from the 1990s onwards, social capital played an increasing role in the development of Glasgow’s music scene. Expressed in terms of high levels of trust and reciprocity between scene participants, the accumulation of social capital has influenced Glasgow music makers to cultivate a distinct ‘indie’ approach to music making. This approach is manifested, not in one particular style of music, but in a plethora of cross- collaborations and a desire on the part of scene participants to create music across different art forms and media.
