▼ Gegenstand dieser Arbeit ist es, die Enstehung der epistemischen Modalverben
im Deutschen näher zu beleuchten. Um die Entwicklung von sprachlichen Formen
untersuchen zu können, ist es zunächst unabdingbar, den gegenwärtigen Zustand
dieser Verben genauestens zu erfassen. Die sogennanten Modalverben verfügen
jeweils über verschiedene syntaktische Gebrauchsformen und können jenach Verb
unterschiedliche Ausprägungen haben. So gibt es Formen, mit akkusativ NP, mit
dass-Satz, mit Kontrollinfinitiven, mit ereignisbezogenen
Anhebungsinfinitiven, mit reportativen Kontrollinfinitiven, reportativen
Anhebungsinfinitiven und eben mit epistemischen Anhebungsinfinitiven. Wie
schon an vielen Stellen gezeigt, spiegelt jede dieser syntaktischen
Gebrauchsformen eine unterschiedliche Phase im Grammatikalisierungsprozess
wieder. Auf diese Weise lässt sich schon anhand von Sprachdaten aus der
Gegenwart der Entwicklungsprozess dieser Verben im Groben nachvollziehen.
Grundlage für die Untersuchung stellt das Archiv W des Deutschen
Referenzkorpus (DeReKo) dar, welches zum Zeitpunkt der Durchführung 2
Milliarden Wortform-Token umfasste. In diesem Sinne gilt es als erstes zu
klären, was denn genau unter dem Begriff Modalverb zu verstehen ist. In der
traditionellen Sicht werden sechs Verben zu dieser Klasse gezählt: können,
müssen, wollen, dürfen, sollen and mögen. Wie sich jedoch zeigt, ist es
nicht möglich, diese sechs Elemente zu einer einheitlichen, in sich stimmigen
Klasse zusammenzufassen. Das liegt vor allem daran, dass jedes dieser sechs
Verben mit unter sehr unterschiedliche syntaktische Gebrauchsformen mit sich
bringt, aber auch an der großen Zahl der idiosynkratischen Eigenheiten.
Abgesehen davon gibt es noch eine ganze Reihe von anderen Verben, die
gleichartige Eigenschaften aufweisen. Im Gegensatz dazu formen die
epistemischen Varianten dieser Verben eine recht einheitliche Klasse. Folglich
ist es viel sinnvoller, sich auf eine Klasse von epistemischen Modalverben zu
beschränken und alle übrigen syntaktischen Gebrauchsformen jedes dieser
Verben außer Acht zu lassen. Das hat jedoch zur Folge, dass weitere Verben,
die ebenfalls über eine epistemische Lesart verfügen, hinzugezogen werden
müssen, nämlich: brauchen und werden. Trotz zahlreicher Gemeinsamkeiten
werden die Anhebungsverben scheinen, drohen, versprechen und verheißen nicht
hinzugezählt und im weiteren Verlaufe nicht mehr berücksichtigt. Wie sich
schließlich zeigt, ist der traditionelle Modalverbbegriff aus
wissenschaftlicher Sicht nicht zu halten. Der Konflikt liegt bereits in seiner
Geschichte begründet. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde versucht, eine ursprünglich
rein morphologisch begründete Klasse zusätzlich noch semantisch zu
untermauern – doch von anfang an offenbarte sich ein Widerspruch zwischen
diesen beiden Ansprüchen. Um die Entstehung der epistemischen Lesarten zu
verstehen, ist es am wichtigsten, den Unterschied zwischen den
zirkumstantiellen und den epistemischen Gebrauchsformen herauszuarbeiten. Bei

▼ Based on the premise that even the teaching of foreign languages is obliged not only to react to the world’s becoming more complex but also to incorporate ecological and global challenges and questions, the goal of the present dissertation is that the advancement of environmental literacy should be anchored as an objective in the teaching of German as a foreign language, and it aims also to provide stimulation for teaching and learning structures. Since the engagement with memory spaces in the context both of the promotion of a competence in discourse (comp. Altmayer 2016; Hallet 2006) and of work with a meaning and knowledge-orientated cultural concept (comp. Reckwitz 2006) in the teaching of foreign languages during the last years has been proved repeatedly to be fruitful, both teaching programmes dealing with selected ecological themes and a teaching programme dealing with an ecological memory space were developed and individual teaching units were planned in detail and finally tested in several German as a Foreign Language courses at universities and language schools in Germany. The present dissertation also aims to make a contribution to the foundations both of a discussion of skills in education with regard to sustainable development and of Global Learning, to further drive engagement with global issues as teaching and learning objects in the context of a lesson in German as a Foreign Language, and to further substantiate and anchor the term “environmental literacy” which is currently only weakly established in the research of German-speaking German as a Foreign Language.
In order to answer the question, a multi-methodic approach for data-collection was selected, in order to do justice to the complexity of the process of the advancement of environmental literacy in the teaching of foreign languages, and simultaneously in order to be able to guarantee a differentiated study. In addition to the texts composed by the participating students during the lessons (learner texts) and the answers taken from a questionnaire filled in at the end of the units (written survey), lesson observation (videography) of individual lesson sequences formed the starting point for a reflective analysis and more extensive recommendation of activities. Additionally to the method of qualitative content analysis according to Mayring (2015) which was used for the evaluation of the material gleaned from the written questionnaire and the texts written by the students themselves, the procedure of sequential analysis was adopted for the analysis of the videographic data.
In summary it can be maintained that ecological discourse in the teaching of foreign languages can be advantageous for the promotion of environmental literacy and can thus contribute to a sustainable development of our world society. ▼ After 1945 Gustaf Grundgens Berlin Prussian State Theatre was held by many to
have been a bastion of culture in terrible times and a place where, apart
from the regime s influence, art had been allowed to flourish. On the other
hand Grundgens theatre had had an elevated status under the auspices of
Hermann Goring, who held it to be the first stage of the Third Reich and
presented it as proof of the Nazi healing of the German theatre. This
paradox can be resolved by identifying the aesthetic character of the
performances and productions something which has been largely overlooked. It
is not enough to just know the repertoire of plays: It is necessary to examine
within a historical framework surrounding the cultural conditions: how the
plays were directed and acted as well as how the audience received them. The
concept of Werktreue becomes a focal point of the study: Grundgens position
was that a play should be directed in the way the author intended . This
adage of holding true to the author s intent as has often been argued after
1945 led to Grundgens theatre being seen as having escaped Nazi ideology by
virtue of its artistic purpose and achievement. This study shows that
Grundgens Werktreue is a normative pretence that is an impossibility. The
examination of a selection of productions shows that Grundgens directing and
acting was by and large marked by a superimposed strict, formally distanced
and unreal classical theatrical style. Indeed it was his very affirmation of
the Werktreue ideology which aided his escaping from facing the consequences
of his theatre s strong connection to the Nazi regime: He could thus evade
acknowledging the strongly affirmative character of his work during the Third
Reich. The less reality there was to be found in his productions, the better
they fit into the context of the Nazi cultural politics. This aesthetic was
thus largely compatible with the cultural and political practices of the Nazi
system: In 1933 after failed theatrical experiments, the theatre s mission was
seen by the Nazi command as neither the politicization of the productions
aesthetic nor the wallowing in irrational cult new mythologies but rather,
exactly that, which the Prussian State Theatre under the direction of Gustaf
Grundgens stood for: A theatre where the following could be found:
Werktreue , a chaste and purely classical Representative Theatre as well
as a healthy portion of tasteful entertainment. Grundgens, and the other
leading non-Nazi theatre directors, did not, contrary to what was later
claimed, work against the theatre of the Third Reich , but stood at its peak.

▼ Remembrance as a specific motif plays an important role in three major works
of 20th century German literature: Robert Musil's 'Der Mann ohne
Eigenschaften' ('The Man without Qualities'), Heimito von Doderer's 'Die
Dämonen' ('The Demons') and Hans Henny Jahnn's 'Fluß ohne Ufer' ['River
without a Shore']. In addition, remembrance is linked to the conceptual
problems of each novel. In Robert Musil's novel, the process of remembering
that is inaugurated by the characters Ulrich and Agathe leads away from the
concept lying at the core of the novel - the concept of a man without
qualities. Furthermore, remembering is contrary to the 'Anderer Zustand', the
'other state', because it launches a biographical reconfiguration and makes
Ulrich a distinguishable character. 'Die Tiefe ist außen' ('Depth is on the
outside/surface'): This dictum of Heimito von Doderer has to be reconciled
with the poetic use of remembrance in his novel 'Die Dämonen'. In 'Die
Strudlhofstiege', Doderer had developed a poetics of remembrance, which in
'Die Dämonen' is now subjected to a process of surfacing, a
'Veräußerlichungsimpuls'. Since Doderer regards remembrance as an inner,
psychological phenomenon, this process of surfacing leads to problems which
Doderer solves by using certain techniques of surfacing: e.g. concretisation
(or objectivation) and writing down. Contrary to the received opinion, the use
of these techniques results in a negation of remembrance as an introspective
paradigm. Hans Henny Jahnn's trilogy 'Fluß ohne Ufer' has long been seen as an
example of the structural use of remembrance. However, only in the middle
part, 'Die Niederschrift des Gustav Anias Horn', remembrance is given
structural importance. Unintentionally, Jahnn takes up Doderer's shift from
remembrance as an inner paradigm to written remembrance and, like Doderer, he
intentionally avoids psychologising. With the introduction of a surreal return
of the past into the present ('Inversion der Zeit'/'inversion of time') Jahnn
breaks decisively with the traditional, psychological model of remembrance.
Thus, in the novels of Musil, Doderer, and Jahnn the faculties of remembrance
lose substance and importance. The past (as the object of remembrance) is no
longer that 'store of wealth' that one has to turn to if one wants to remain
fit for life (and biography): the past is no longer the core of present life.
Contrariwise, the past is seen as a heterogeneous Other of this life. The
consequence is the dissociation of two spheres, that tradition and
psychoanalysis regard as closely connected: the own remembrance and the own
past of the
subject.

▼ The objective of this study is to identify the aesthetic and political concept
of Peter Weiss through the analysis of descriptions in his novel, ?The
Aesthetics of Resistance?. The significance of description is to reveal the
indescribable fact in the violence, in the picture and in the historical
experience. In these ?negative revelation? finds Peter Weiss a critical
potential for his political concept, ?Resistance?. The distinctive political
character in his aesthetics comes from his historical and materialistic
opinion about indescribable facts which has consistently the viewpoint of
victims: Weiss finds that the every figures of indescribable facts contain the
result of historical contradiction for human, i.e., the worthwhile suffers of
victims, which is clearly distinguished from the works of Kant, Adorno, and
Lyotard. This point discriminates the aesthetic and political concept of Peter
Weiss from that of postmodern. It is also indicated in the novel that the idea
of modernism to form a new cultural association with indefinite, ambivalent,
unknown and indescribable facts can be still adjustable and bearable.

▼ In my dissertation, I argue that there is no relevant poetic on vernacular
German poetry of the Middle Ages, which provides leading categories, concepts
and norms of medieval literary production, especially in the field of poetry.
For this reason the field of German medieval studies relies on poetical
comments in medieval literature and on evidence of literary techniques. This,
however, might result in applying antique and modern ideas to historical
texts. I will, therefore, try to develop a method which is appropriate for the
alterity of medieval literature and poetry.
Central categories of the study are the terms "role", "genre", "gender",
"concretisation", "erotizing", and "defining new roles". Whereas "role"
distinguishes between the lyrical I and the author, the term "genre" refers to
systems which are not considered as static and normative, but dynamic and
flexible.
The category "gender", which is considered the interface between heterogeneous
elements, describes the transcending of genre limits and hereby the shift in
the disposition of systems.
Finally, the already established terms "concretisation", "erotizing" and
"defining new roles" depict techniques to expand and transcend genre limits.
The study focuses on songs by the poet Oswald of Wolkenstein, which for a long
time have been interpreted by literary criticism as biographical and have been
divided into two groups: 'captivity' and 'matrimony songs'. In contrast to
this, I will show that according to genre specific criteria these songs do not
represent corpora in their own rights. It is the objective of this study to
define the genre generating character of gender and by doing so to find new
ways of allocating the songs within the lyrical system and to prove that they
belong to different genres.

▼ Wilhelm von Humboldt is the classic philosopher of language, but no one
attests to him an excellent use of language and his writings have been
diagnosed as lacking in consistent terminology. This might explain why no one
has ever set out to explicitly investigate the concepts he used (the only
exceptions being the terms "energeia"and "inner form of language", or "innere
Sprachform"), or made a critical attempt to clarify this alleged deficiency.
The study at hand aims to do just this. For one, it argues on the level of the
"layers of his work", showing that Humboldt�s initial task was to work out
some kind of terminology and that his cautious, probing way of circling around
details did indeed constitute a method which bore fruit. Humboldt's concept of
"linguistic sense" ("Sprachsinn") certainly merits attention. It appears with
increasing frequency in his writings on the philosophy of language. Humboldt
defines it twice, tellingly distinguishing it from the concept of
"imagination" ("Einbildungskraft"). He also places the concept in relation to
sounds, underscoring in an unprecedented way the medial aspect of language.
According to Humboldt, the development of "linguistic sense" is not only
"charitably promoted", but rather perfected by the medium of the written word,
in particular by phonetic spelling. What warrants an investigation of this
concept, for one, is the fact that it was coined by Humboldt himself - as
opposed to the concept "energeia", which derives from Aristoteles. By gaining
an understanding of it we can also gain a better understanding of the new
media. The investigation drives this point home, placing the concept in a
modern, systematic framework and juxtaposing it with other concepts used by
Humboldt to formulate his idea of language. For Humboldt, "linguistic sense"
is "intellect as it relates to the formation and use of language". As such it
must produce sounds in order to "make thoughts expressible". Transcendentally
and historically speaking, Humboldt argues on the level of the development of
national languages when he formulates this definition. The connection with
conversation - for him language in its original form - consists in the
hermeneutic circle, which Humboldt knows and uses avant la lettre. Language
occurs solely in individual acts of speaking, i.e. in the state of "being at
work" (en-ergeia). Yet we only understand ourselves and others within the
horizon of a mutually used language. This involves more than an exchange of
ideas; it concerns the very formation of ideas. "Linguistic sense" originates
in what has not yet been articulated, i.e. in silence. In light of this view,
the investigation develops four aspects of sigetics, which are placed within
the framework of Humboldt's hermeneutics. These are ultimately seen as being
invested with an ethical dimension.

▼ The thesis works on the answer to the question of how Goethe and his
literature were understood by Chinese intellectual people in the past century,
as the development of science and thinking in the west influenced the Chinese
society more and more. It describes the Chinese reception of Goethe not only
in summary with analyses of the different representations about Goethe, but
also in detail through study of Chinese interpretations of Goethe s
literature, especially through the reception of Faust. Beyond that it is tried
to find out what Goethe s views of life and literature mean for some Chinese
poets and furthermore for the newer development of literature in China. The
thesis investigates the political, ideological and economic background of the
Chinese reception of Goethe in order to understand the real communication and
its problems between Chinese and western culture better. The thesis aims also,
by representation of the reception of Goethe, to make the exchanging
potentialities plainer which base on the Chinese and western thinking and to
inspire the research on this area.

the age of 22 searching an artistic home, which he felt he could not find in
Germany. Following the romantical tradition of transfiguring Italy he
describes the country as an idyllic Arcadia which has become reality. This
esthetic reality is presented as an adequate place for a poetic genius, that

▼ This dissertation attempts to investigate about one century of the history of
the reception of Classical Culture in Germany. It does so mainly from the
point of view of the gradual change of the image of Classical Antiquity. At
first, the image of antiquity is characterized by the ideals of goodness,
truth and beauty and is then gradually transformed - this took place against
the background of the strange god, Dionysus - to express inhumanity. The
writer has consciously referred to results and methodical approaches from the
history, theoretical construction and reflection on methods of classical
philology in order to be better able to outline the reception process of
ancient subjects, motifs and authors in the period investigated here. In fact,
the reciprocal or mirror-image connections between literature, philosophy and
the science of antiquity can often be ascertained in an epoque in which the
concept of "classical education" is the same as that of "education" tout
court.
The dissertation has thus given a lot of space to the investigation of the
educational conditions for all the authors (Goethe, Kleist, Heine, Nietzsche
etc.). The modalities of acquiring a classical education presuppose the
reception, more or less directly, of Classical Antiquity and dealing with
antique subjects. With a view to that, the writer has constantly focussed on
the developments in the history of education and the concept of "education"
itself in the course of the 19th Century.
In this context, "antiquity" means almost exclusively Greek Antiquity, of
which, in the course of 19th Century, at first the "classical" period, then
the "dark beginnings" and the archaic epoque play an exemplary role for Modern
Times. In spite of the transformation of the image of antiquity and the
discovery of an archaic and anti-classical Greece, this model function holds
and is barely questioned, even in the case of authors such as Heine or
Nietzsche, although it is differently accounted for than before, that is by
inhumanity and barbarity.
This exemplariness is not least because of the mythopoetic aptitude as an
expression of the holistically conceived Greek philosophy of life. The myth
has a communicative function, which can also be discovered again for Modern
Times ("New Mythology") and is symbolized by the mythical figure of the god,
Dionysus. This myth-renaissance would, however, be barely conceivable without
the emergence and development of modern historical science which began to
research formerly unnoticed or unknown areas of Classical Antiquity. The
science deepens the awareness of the distance to the Ancient World, which
German writers, on the other hand, attempt to bridge by means of the myth
(c.f. F. Nietzsche).
German reception of Classical Antiquity has been characterized in a clearly
Utopian way from the very beginning and does not get lost in the paradigmatic
exchange from "humane" to "inhumane" antiquity. The Greek past and the Greek
myth serve to set the perspective on Modern times, as a counterfoil to the

▼ The present research intends to demonstrate how contemporary literature may be
read in its original in German philology context in Brazil. Therefore a model
was developed, which embraced all elements of language- and literature
teaching, as well as foreign language didactics. For this purpose, the novel
Am kürzeren Ende der Sonnenallee (1999) by Thomas Brussig was chosen to be
discussed throughout a literature seminar for German philology students at the
UNESP university in Araraquara. Crucial for choosing the novel to be discussed
were also the film Sonnenallee (1999) by Leander Haußmann and other media such
as the audio book, the film web page and its soundtrack. The specific method
of this literature seminar enabled the target group to work in a more dynamic
learning atmosphere. The German philology seminars at the UNESP are mostly
based on ex cathedra teaching, so that students seldom have the chance to
actively participate. Besides, these seminars are completely in Portuguese. In
the literature seminar held in the target language, there were several forms
of interaction, and the literary discussion happened simultaneously to the
process of language acquisition, so that the students got used to the
terminology as well. This research presents an updated Analysis of the
situation of German philology in Brazil, which had not been much discussed up
to the present time. Moreover it introduces the first documented approach that
aimed at the discussion of a contemporary German novel written after 1989 in
its original version on an active learning basis in German philology in
Brazil. The developed model may be useful for other attempts in an
international teaching and learning context of German as a foreign language.

vernachlässigt wurde: die Bildung komplexer Adverbien durch Derivation. In der
Literatur zur niederländischen Wortbildung wird eine Reihe von Suffixen für
die Adverbbildung genannt: -(e)lijk, -(e)lings, -gewijs, -erwijs, -halve,
-iter, -tjes, -waarts, -weg. Diese niederländischen Adverbialsuffixe sind, im
Gegensatz zu ihren nah verwandten deutschen Äquivalenten, jedoch bisher kaum
beschrieben worden. In der Regel beschränkt sich ihre Behandlung in der
Forschungsliteratur auf die Nennung einiger synchroner Eigenschaften,
empirische Untersuchungen existieren allerdings nicht. Der Diachronie dieser
Suffixe ist in der bisherigen Forschung ebenfalls kaum Beachtung geschenkt
worden, während etwa für das Deutsche ausführliche historische Beschreibungen
vorliegen. Aus diesem Forschungsdefizit heraus lässt sich das Hauptziel meiner
Dissertation formulieren: eine erstmalig detaillierte und sowohl synchron als
auch diachron ausgerichtete Beschreibung der Adverbialsuffixe des
Niederländischen zu leisten. Die Beschreibungen basieren auf der qualitativen
Auswertung von Belegdaten aus Korpora und Wörterbüchern. Es werden außerdem
zwei weitere, bisher in der Forschungsliteratur vernachlässigte
Wortbildungselemente, -matig und -technisch, mit einbezogen, deren deutsche
Äquivalente, -mäßig und -technisch, in der neueren Literatur zum Deutschen
besondere Aufmerksamkeit erhalten haben. Die Studie kombiniert eine synchrone
mit einer diachronen Perspektive und beschreibt die Entwicklung der einzelnen
Wortbildungselemente vom Altniederländischen bis ins heutige
Gegenwartsniederländisch. Beobachtungen zu deutschen und englischen Suffixen
werden zum Vergleich herangezogen und dienen insbesondere der Bereicherung der
Beschreibung ihrer niederländischen Äquivalente. Die Dissertation ist in drei
Hauptteile gegliedert. Im ersten Teil (Kapitel 1 bis 6) erläutere ich die
theoretischen sowie praktischen Grundlagen meiner Studie. Der zweite Teil
meiner Dissertation (Kapitel 7 bis 17) ist vollständig den
Suffixbeschreibungen gewidmet und stellt das Kernstück der Arbeit dar. Die
Kapitel enthalten jeweils die Beschreibungen der einzelnen niederländischen
Suffixe in alphabetischer Reihenfolge: -(e)lijk, -(e)lings, -gewijs, -erwijs,
-halve, -iter, -matig, -technisch, -tjes, -waarts, -weg. Jedes Kapitel besteht
aus einer Einführung, einer synchronen Darstellung, einer diachronen
Beschreibung und einem Fazit. Im dritten und letzten Teil (Kapitel 18) werden
die Ergebnisse der einzelnen Suffixbeschreibungen zusammengeführt und
diskutiert. Das führt zu wichtigen Erkenntnissen zur Kategorie der
‚adverbialen Morphologie’ und zur linguistischen Funktion der ‚Modifikation’.

▼ The Dance in Heinrich Heine`s work Ock Sook Park This study analyzes the
aesthetic concept of Heinrich Heine by scrutinizing his own genuine literary
media for the realization of this concept. Heine does not separate his
profession of a writer from his sense of social responsibility, but rather one
causes the other in his life. Taking this aspect into consideration, this
study aims to show Heine´s unique character in his literary mastery as well as
his vital concern for society and literature. This interest is due to the
notion, that Heine uses his very own media for the realization of his concept
of literature in his writing as well as for the elucidation of this concept.
Following his concept of literature, literature and respectively art shall
transcend the conventional borders and reach into the realm of society and
politics, setting both of them in motion. With this conviction Heine tries to
use adequate media and asserts their value continuously in his writing.
According to this, his choice of media is in my point of view an integral part
of his literary work. Belonging to this important media is above all the
dance. Heine awards the dance a key position in his works. Thus without
analyzing its meaning and function, the understanding of Heine is incomplete.
Heine transforms the dancemotiv into a literary tool and develops a array of
dancefigures, reflecting his basic aesthetic attitude and principles. His
dances and dancefigures embody and articulates his literary and social message
and its importance. This also shows his literary and political point of view
very clearly. Due to this reason this work deals with the significance of the
dance and the explanatory power of the description of the dance for the
understanding of Heine, focussing specially on the following questions in
order to show what is needed for a fair understandung and relaying of Heine,
what needs to be complemented and what has to be revised: 1\. What motivates
Heine to use the dance as a literary medium? 2\. Which function and role does
the dance play in Heine`s works? 3\. What does the dance reveal about Heine`s
awareness of literature and his view of society? 4\. What are the specifics of
the dance for Heine, with which he tries to relate literature and politics, so
that they start "to dance"?

▼ This dissertation focuses on satirical novels which were written in exile in
the 1930s during the Nazi period and were only seldom received by readers and
critics. The novels embody a search for the conditions that gave rise to Nazi
rule and attribute a considerable portion of the responsibility to a
widespread lack of principle which led people to zealously fell in line with
whatever was prevalent at the time and which was the result not of material
privation but of personal weakness, for which the people themselves were to
blame. These novels written in exile are in the tradition of Georg Christoph
Lichtenberg and Heinrich Heine's enlightening satires on petit bourgeois life.
All the satires studied avail themselves of the concept of the "Untertan", or
subservient
subject, which Heinrich Mann outlined in his novels. It would seem
that the satirical type of the potentially fascist petit bourgeois with
leanings towards anti-democratic ideology can only be described ex negativo.
Consequently, the weak personality of the subservient figure is confronted
with more creative characters, with outsiders and rogues. These standard
figures embody encrusted bourgeois ideals. If the petit bourgeois thinking of
the main protagonists is to be seen as an atrophied stage in bourgeois
existence, then the non-conformists must be regarded as extremes of this, both
corresponding to and challenging the others' lack of principle. At first sight
it would appear to be imprudent to deride an opponent such as fascism, which
openly and emphatically renounces reason. Yet by neutralising logical
behaviour, laughter enables one to react to the arbitrary use of power and
accept the existence of absurdity. By means of laughter emotion cajoles reason
into tolerating the brutal fact of Nazism. In all the works I have examined,
exile has the effect of promoting political radicalism. Yet the
"Volksfrontgedanke", or popular front concept, is not necessarily the outcome
of such a process of developing awareness on the part of the author. The
satirical gesture is more one of individualistic hostility to dogmatism
nurtured by scepticism and pessimism. If the provisional ego of criticism is
to regain a standpoint in satire, then only at the price of the idea of
progress. These novels clearly show what National Socialism demanded of
bourgeois literature \endash a denial of any upward trend in culture,
intellectual pursuit, civilisation. These satirical novels can be regarded as
a companion piece to the Socialist novel of resistance. Whatever way it is
rendered, the motif of "a critique of the petit bourgeois" reveals much the
same dissension as that of the satirist towards the strategy of the Communist
Party. Any such left-wing bourgeois thinking came to an abrupt end with the
accession to power of the National Socialists in 1933.

▼ Time and time again the aesthetic simplicity of late medieval adaptations of
earlier narrative forms has been emphasized. It is said that they presented an
abundance of long-winded events while being concerned solely with the
audiences' entertainment - be it suspense, exotic places, bloodthirsty
battles, love or laughter. The perception of them as an inconsistent
accumulation of individual episodes and a storyline impaired by continued
changes of direction has also been applied to 15th and 16th century
adaptations the of Chansons de geste. Therefore, based on the Chansons de
geste-adaptations of Elisabeth of Nassau-Saarbrücken and other contemporary
adaptations this study intends to turn this view into the starting point for a
hermeneutic approach. Indeed, it is the very lack of originality and the
story's repetitive serial character that demands individual texts and their
synchronous links be put into context. Instead of establishing diachronic or
synchronic accumulations of variations on either a thematic history or its
potential representations, the aim is to look for the particular function of
analogous narrative elements within the individual text.
Based on this method the first section of this study is concerned with medium-
sized narrative units' relation to one another. They will be called themes
(Themen), a term that is to date not common in German narrative theory. This
will avoid the rather diverse term motif. The themes provide "communicative"
examples: They offer categories of heroic behaviour and identity. Due to the
texts' interdependencies these categories have a dynamic quality and can be
re-grouped in varying constellations. The study's second section will show
how, together with the themes, the most important subjects (Sujets) are
developed. As meaningful relations between acts these subjects equate the
characters and their dealings with terms of reference that can be understood
as different degrees of social belonging. This includes different aspects of
relationships, gender relations and feudalism. Thereby society's mechanisms of
integration are shown while simultaneously the frictions individual heroes
need to deal with, and the regular disturbances in new relationships, are
identified. A cursory reading filters out structural elements and patterns of
interpretations that the texts all share. In this way it should become obvious
which significant elements can constitute Chanson de geste in German.

▼ The thesis "Electronic Editions – Possibilities, Limitations, Perspectives"
presents concepts and technologies for electronic editions in the field of
German language and literature. The thesis focuses on describing forms of
information contained by written texts that extend beyond the literal
information content, and on the possibilities that exist for encoding this
information in electronic editions and thus opening it up to electronic
evaluation. It begins with a survey of existing electronic editions, which can
be divided roughly into two categories: electronic editions that take their
orientation from books, and electronic editions that are oriented more heavily
toward the possibilities offered by electronic media. This distinction
provides the starting point for an investigation of the medial circumstances
of texts in books and texts in electronic media. The focus here is on
information which books convey above and beyond the letters which make up
written texts - e.g. through typography and layout or in aspects of book
production and distribution. These "apparatuses of the Gutenberg universe" are
contrasted with the possibilities of information transfer and information
modelling in the electronic media. At the fore are concepts based on semantic
text markup using markup languages such as Standard Generalized Markup
Language (SGML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML). Alongside technologies
for working with SGML/XML encoded data, text markup according to the
guidelines of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) is presented, and different
encoding possibilities and models are discussed. The textual basis consists of
excerpts from Franz Kafka: "Der Prozeß" (The Trial, Frankfurter Kafka Ausgabe)
and Georg Büchner: "Dantons Tod" (Danton's Death, Marburger Büchner Ausgabe).
In conclusion, the possibilities for recording supplementary information on
electronic texts as metadata will be discussed. Here, too, suitable encoding
options will be described and discussed, such as the Maschinelle
Austauschformat für Bibliotheken (MAB, MABxml), the Dublin Core Metadata
Initiative (DC, DCMI), and the relevant TEI guidelines.

▼ The present work examines contrastively the concept of reflexivity in German and Armenian from the (morpho-)syntactic and semantic points of view. The analysis demonstrate that the reflexive is coded in German by the marker and (partial pronoun) sich, while Armenian expresses it first and foremost using the marker (and pronoun) իրեն iren which is strongly reflexive. The reflexivity indicated by the polyfunctional verbal marker -վ- -v- is only one of its possible meanings and is therefore weakly reflexive. This morpheme functions primarily to mark the middle, passive and reciprocal forms.
The medial components also include those verbs in German with obligatory sich-marking, in contrast with the optionally sich-marked verbs which represent the reflexive. The decisive criteria in this differentiation as well as in the distinction between the middle and reflexive in Armenian include animacy (of the agent), intentionality, action not directed at one’s self, the semantic content and the semantic classes of these verbs.
Both languages have the reflexive forms of the direct reflexive, indirect reflexive, partial (possessive) reflexive and pseudo reflexive. The decausative is identified in German, while the adverbial use of the reflexive is observed in Armenian.
The comparison of these forms – sich, իրեն iren and v-marked – yields that the reflexive իրեն iren-verbs in Armenian function not only and not even primarily as the equivalent reflexive form of the (optional and obligatory) sich verbs in German, but instead the v-verbs often have the following meanings as well: mediopassive, medioactive, pseudo-middle, reciprocal middle, differentiating between active/medial verb-forms, and medial doublets. In contrast to the Armenian German also has a reflexive-reciprocal variant. In addition, the sich-marker is also implemented in Armenian by the 0-v-marker as an intransitive verb more rarely as a transitive as well.
The research thus highlights not only the polyfunctionality of the Armenian v-marker as well as the German sich-marker, it also emphasizes the two possibilities for implementing the reflexive in Armenian.

▼ The destination of the twopart dissertation is, the Grass-research, and the
activity of the GDR-Ministry of Security (MfS), on this work. The aim is to
complete the contempoary historic research. The analysis of the methods of the
MfS to take influence on the literary life in the Federal Republic of Germany
from 1950 till 1989 shows, that there was an influence in two different ways:
By "skimmin" and "decomposition". Therefore it's necessary to evaluate the
documents of the "Bundesbeauftragter für die Unterlagen des
Staatssicherheitsdienstes der ehemaligen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik
(BStU)" where being collect around 500-pages concerning Grass. The problem to
get allowance for research is detailed described in the report of activity of
the BstU in 2001. It's necessary, that every concerning person must be
informed before starting research. In case of "Grass" was hold out a prospect
by the BStU in 2002. But the highest court in Germany has decided in the
prejustice case of "Helmut Kohl" on 8. of March 2002, that without allowance
by the concerning person research in these documents is impossible. The
inquiry therefore is concentrated on the facts described in documents of the
federal archives. In this way it's possible to evaluate direct influence. But
it is remarkable, that the documents and there describing never give an
objective picture of the real life, because conditional by oppression of state
a subjective influenced behavior of the police-spy is veritable. If the
subject of investigation is reduced to the formulation "writers and state
security in the FRG" reference can be made to a parallel examination
"Sicherungsbereich Literatur (security sector literature)" published in 1996
including the subtitle "writers and state security in the GDR". Specific
questions are discussed followed by investigations of facts: \- Is there any
intervention from the Stasi (state security service) evident on Grass in his
novel "Ein weites Feld (A Wide Field)"? \- Which of the Unofficial
Collaborators (IM) of the ministry of state security and its leading IMs (FIM)
had an influence on Grass according to their security political interest and
organizations of the GDR by using which means and methods? In which space of
time? What was their result? What was their aim? \- How does Grass document in
his novel his political outlook towards the ministry of state security? Three
main sources of investigation were used. Is any punishment against his
informers feared by Grass according to the decision of the Federal
Constitutional Court from 15.05.1995 relevant or statute-barred? Which further
documents are stored up in the "Foundation Archives of the parties and mass
organizations of the GDR in the Federal Archives" (SAPMO) in Berlin-
Lichterfelde besides those stored up in the BStU? The investigations at this
institution followed the maxim to examine 96 if ever possible 96 records of
different origin and perspective to shed light on historical facts. The third

Grammatik, die traditionell ein Regelwerk zur Analyse und/oder Erzeugung von
Sätzen war, auf die Ebene der Texte zu erweitern. Der Begriff Textgrammatik
bezieht sich erstens auf den Bereich der Textlinguistik. Zusätzlich zu den
oben, die Textlinguistik untersucht textuelle Besonderheiten in der Stilistik,
der Rhetorik. Text Grammatik konzentriert sich auf sieben Standards der
Textualität (Kohäsion, Kohärenz, Intentionalität, Akzeptabilität,
Informativität, Situationalität und Intertextualität). Diese Standards werden
zu einer Gruppe von Beziehungen, Definitionen und sprachlichen Eigenschaften,
die ein Modell des menschlichen Gedächtnisses und seiner aktiven Kapazitäten
darstellen verwandt, und wie die textuelle Ereignis besteht. Daher Grammatik
des Textes ist eine ideale Vorstellung. Darüber hinaus umfasst ist, Text
Grammatik beschäftigt sich mit beiden sprachlichen Ebenen: \- Die regelmäßigen
Verfahren. \- Den unregelmäßigen Stufen, zu erreichen die vollkommenste
linguistisches Modell. Diese These (Text Grammar in Modern Arabic Poetry: A
Textual and Analytic Study of ʾAmal Dunqul`s Poetry) stellt eine wesentliche
Einblicke in die Rolle von textuellen Standards bei der Bestimmung der besten
Ebene des Textes für eine effektive Kommunikation mit der arabischen Empfänger
erforderlich gespielt. Daher ist das Ziel eines Textes Grammatik, in der Regel
ist es, die Wirksamkeit der textlichen Zusammenhang zwischen dem Text und dem
Empfänger zu beweisen, und die Bedingungen, die die Produktion von effektiven
Texte ermöglichen etablieren. Die allgemeine Methodik dieser Arbeit wird in
den folgenden Gesichtspunkten, die den Mittelpunkt des Themas darstellen
konzentriert: \- Das allgemeine Konzept der Textualität, die die allgemeine
Eigenschaft von schriftlichen Unterlagen, durch die aufeinander folgenden
Sätze bilden einen zusammenhängenden Text wie von de Beaugrande und Dressler
definiert sind. \- Erklärung der textuellen Merkmale Arabisch, seinen Phasen,
und die Bemühungen der arabischen Linguisten, besonders in der Grammatik und
Rhetorik. \- Anwendung von textuellen Standards in der Poesie des ʾ Amal
Dunqul nach zwei Perspektiven: a) Die textliche Standards von de Beaugrande
und Dressler vorgeschlagen. b) Die besonderen Eigenschaften, die die

lot of linguists from different languages contributed to the development of
this craft. The evolution of this craft at the present time doesn't negate
Arabs distinction in this field, since they already surpassed others in the
craft of dictionary making from antiquity, and lexicon types differed so that
enriched studies about them .whoever, Arabs contemporary dictionaries became
an imitation of old lexicons so the user suffered from many problems while
recourse to them in terms of search for required words, or terms of defining
these words. Hence this research in the title of - structure and problems of
contemporary Arabic dictionary – al-Muʿğam al-Wasīṭ as a model - comes as a
contribution to develop the contemporary Arabic lexicography. The research
clarifies the theoretical and practical foundations that should be taken into
account when planning and implementing craft of contemporary Arabic dictionary
making through studying and analyzing several items and terms of al-Muʿğam al-
Wasīṭ dictionary . This research aims to provide viable solutions to the
problems of contemporary dictionaries by highlighting their mistakes at the
level of choosing vocabularies of the dictionary which will form its entries,
or at the level of ordering these vocabularies ,or at the level of defining
these vocabularies semantic definition firstly, grammatical, morphological and
stylistic definition later. When we skim over a linguistic dictionary we can
find a clear decrease in recording dozens of standard Arabic words or
colloquial words or words that are borrowed from other languages which don't
have Arabic corresponding. During the order of selected headwords we can note
that many of the borrowed words were egested under Arabic headwords, in
addition to that a lot of Arabic words were recorded under headwords that are
not considered from the same linguistic category. This research offers
solutions to the order of Arabic or borrowed headwords in way that allows the
reader to find the required word as soon as possible. At the level of the
definition of headwords, the research is considered with offering the proper
methods to define the headwords of the dictionary a definition that takes into
account the established foundations of dictionary science. Since the Arabic
dictionary suffers from a distinct lack of semantic definition of many of the
terms, mostly our modern dictionaries in their definitions depend on
transcription of old lexicons so the definitions of several entries are some
times vague or uncompleted or maybe wrong. Hence it's necessary for our
dictionaries to develop their methods in definition whereas they take into
consideration the modern methods that were founded by modern lexicology. On

▼ Bei der Lektüre der altnorwegischen Þiðreks saga af Bern fallen einem sofort die zahlreichen Unstimmigkeiten und Brüche auf, die diesen dennoch höchst interessanten Text charakterisieren. Zurückzuführen sind diese auf mehrere Ursachen. So ist die älteste uns überlieferte Fassung nicht vollständig erhalten und lässt zudem erkennen, dass an ihr mehrere Schreiber, die zum Teil unterschiedliche Konzeptionen verfolgten, gearbeitet haben. Daraus ergibt sich eine nicht immer konsistente Gesamtstruktur der vorliegenden Fassungen der Saga. Trotzdem konnte die Forschung der letzten drei Jahrzehnte zeigen, dass es sich bei dem Text nicht um eine bloße Sammlung heldenepischer und „spielmännischer“ Stoffe handelt, sondern um ein nach einem bestimmten Plan angeordnetes Werk.
Viele Widersprüche ergeben sich indessen auch, wenn man die Frage nach der Gattung stellt, der sie zugehörig ist. Nach stofflichen Kriterien wäre sie wohl zu den Fornaldarsögur zu zählen, aber einiges spricht auch dafür, sie den übersetzten Riddarasögur zuzuordnen, die allerdings vorwiegend auf romanischen höfischen Quellen basieren. Es handelt sich bei ihr also um einen hybriden Text.
Als gutes Modell, dieses Phänomen zu beschreiben, hat sich jenes der intertextuellen Montage erwiesen. Von diesem ausgehend wird in der Arbeit gezeigt, dass die Þiðreks saga nicht nur ihre Teilgeschichten nach einem bestimmten Konzept angeordnet, sondern auch Motive aus „fremden“ literarischen Kontexten eingefügt hat, um eigene Intentionen zur Geltung zu bringen. Da uns ihre direkten Quellen fehlen, kann diese These zwar nicht bewiesen, aber mithilfe gewichtiger Indizien untermauert werden. Eines davon ist das mehrmalige Vorkommen eines Motivs im Text, und folgerichtig setzt sich die vorliegende Untersuchung stellvertretend mit dem Motiv der falschen Namensnennung, dem der wilden Frau, dem Siegstein-, kolbítr-, Räuberkampf und dem Drachenkampf-Motiv auseinander.

welche in dieser Masterarbeit in einem mittelalterlichen, genauer gesagt in einem
spätmittelalterlichen Kontext, näher beleuchtet werden. Dabei lässt sich eine stetige Blickführung
gen Antike, aber auch gen Frühe Neuzeit und in den späteren Gefilden dieser Arbeit auch gen
Gegenwart, nicht vermeiden, da sich die Betrachtung diverser Wissenskomponenten und die Rolle
des Aberglaubens vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart nur überblicksmäßig in einen historischen
Gesamtkontext einordnen lässt. Der Aberglaube bestimmte das Leben des Menschen schon seit
Anbeginn seiner Entstehung und erreichte schließlich im Mittelalter, auch unter dem Einfluss der
katholischen Kirche seinen Höhepunkt. Das Spätmittelalter wird in der gegenwärtigen Zeit immer
noch als eine dunkle Epoche angesehen, eine Zeit, in der nicht nur Armut und Gewalt das Leben der
Menschen beherrschten, sondern in der auch abstruse Glaubensvorstellungen, Wunderglaube, der
Glaube an das Übernatürliche und Fabelhafte die Überhand über das menschliche Denken hatte.
Freilich sei im Zuge der Beschäftigung mit dem Mittelalter immer das Weltbild dieser Zeit, sowie
auch die Tatsache, dass das Christentum im Mittelpunkt der Menschen stand, zu beachten. In dieser
Arbeit wird insbesondere anhand des Tirolers HANS VINTLER und des Meistersängers MICHEL
BEHEIM aufgezeigt, dass kritisches Denken bereits im ausgehenden Mittelalter existierte und dass
man nach und nach die katholischen Lehren und Predigten infrage stellte, sowie auch den
Aberglauben, genannt seien an dieser Stelle etwa die Mantik, der Wolfsbann oder auch sämtliche
andere Arten der Zauberei, wie der Wetterzauber, und der Magie, welche sich wiederum in
Schwarze und Weiße Magie gliedern lässt, kritisch beleuchtete. Dabei sei im Zuge dieser Arbeit
immer wieder auch auf namhafte Personen des christlichen Vorlebens, wie etwa THOMAS VON
AQUIN, verwiesen. Gerade HANS VINTLER verstand es in seinen pluemen der tugent, ein Werk,
welches, neben dem BEHEIM'schen Schaffen, mehr oder minder im Zentrum dieser Masterarbeit
stehen wird, verstand es, die verschiedensten Arten des Unglaubens zu kritisieren, wobei im Zuge
seiner Superstitionenkritik auch der Klerus und der Adel des Öfteren im Zentrum der Kritik standen
bzw. stehen. Der Tiroler Richter, der aufgrund genau dieser richterlichen Tätigkeit einen enormen
Erfahrungswert vorzuweisen hatte, zeigt bzw. zeigte gekonnt die Missstände seiner Zeit auf und
erläutert immer wieder, wie sehr der Aberglaube den Menschen schaden würde. Außerdem sah er
darin, sowie auch in den christlichen Predigten und in der Naivität der Menschen, solchem
Unglauben Glaube zu schenken, den Ursprung der grausamen Hexen- und Zaubererverfolgungen.
Auch MICHEL BEHEIM, der eine ganze Fülle an Gedichten, sowohl weltlicher, politischer als auch geistlicher Natur, verfasste, wetterte, ähnlich wie HANS VINTLER, über die Missstände seiner Zeit

▼ Die Untersuchung der Lokalkasus ergab eine Reihe neuer Ergebnisse und Präzisierungen. Dem Funktionsbereich des Ablativs -dan kann die Angabe des Stimulus hinzugefügt werden, auch wenn es sich bislang nur um ein Beispiel handelt. Unterstützung findet diese Annahme durch den ne-Kasus, der als Ablativ fungieren kann. Auch dort finden sich Beispiele der Markierung des Stimulus. Die typischen Funktionen des Essivs -a sind die Beschreibung eines Zustands und der Lokativ. Eine Richtungsangabe ist derart selten, dass sie als Ausnahme gelten muss und mit den beobachteten Interferenzen zwischen Essiv und Dativ -va zusammenhängen könnte. So kann der Dativ etwa auch als Lokativ verwendet werden. Der Dativ scheint sein Funktionsspektrum dahingehend zu erweitern, dass er anstelle des Direktivs -da gebraucht werden kann. Eine generelle Austauschbarkeit des Direktivs und Dativs ist nicht feststellbar. Bis auf sehr wenige Fälle wird der Direktiv stets als Richtungsangabe benutzt. Die verba dicendi treten in der Regel mit dem Direktiv auf.
Einen Schwerpunkt der Arbeit bildete vor allem die Diskussion des ne-Kasus bzw. e-Kasus. In dieser Arbeit wird die Existenz eines ne-Kasus und eines e-Kasus vertreten. Der e-Kasus ist außerhalb der belegten Konstruktion mit relationalem Nomen schwer nachweisbar, sondern oft lediglich aufgrund starker Indizien anzunehmen. Für den ne-Kasus möchte ich die Funktionen Ablativ (separativisch, ablativus modi), Markierung des Stimulus und Instrumental ansetzen. Dem e-Kasus ist meines Erachtens die Funktion Direktiv und Lokativ sowie der Ausdruck der Beziehung („hinsichtlich, betreffs“ oder Ähnliches) zuzuweisen. Möglicherweise aufgrund der graphischen (und vielleicht auch lautlichen) Ähnlichkeit des ne-Kasus mit dem e-Kasus, wenn letzterer nach dem Relator -ne erscheint, werden Strategien zur eindeutigen Bestimmung der Funktion des Kasus nötig. Diese können sein: a) eine eindeutige Semantik des Verbs, b) Verwendung der Kurzform -n des ne-Kasus und c) Verwendung eindeutiger Kasus wie des Direktivs -da oder des Ablativs -dan. Bei der großen zeitlichen und räumlichen Verbreitung des Hurritischen muss mit der Möglichkeit mehrerer Entwicklungslinien gerechnet werden, die sich verschiedener Lösungsstrategien bedienen.
Wie schon länger bekannt ist, besitzt das Hurritische sowohl „Postpositionen“ als auch „Präpositionen“. Neben den bekannten Konstruktionen können im Boğazköy-Material Belege gefunden werden, die dafür sprechen, dass der Gebrauch dieses sprachlichen Mittels vielfältiger ist, als bislang angenommen wurde. Je nach Art der Konstruktion sind diese Wörter als relationale Nomen oder als Adpositionen anzusehen. Zu den zur Bildung der relationalen Nomen verwendeten Kasus (Direktiv, Dativ) ist möglicherweise der ne-Kasus/e-Kasus hinzuzufügen. Den Konstruktionstyp „relationales Nomen (e-Kasus) + Bezugswort im Genitiv“, der sich im Mittani-Brief findet, kann im Boğazköy-Material vorerst nicht nachgewiesen werden. Ein Übergang von „Postpositionen“ zu „Präpositionen“ kann anhand der Belege nicht begründet…

▼ Dzungar Tuvan is a Tuvan variety spoken by approximately 2,000 people in the
Ili Kazakh region in Northern Xinjiang, China. The main settlement area
comprises the three villages Akkaba, Kanas, and Kom. This work is a fieldwork-
based synchronous description of the morphologic components that form
subordinate clauses in Dzungar Tuvan. The theory developed by Johanson (1971)
on aspect and aktionsart in Turkish has been used as a basis and has been
expanded to the non-finite domain of Dzungar Tuvan. The participles in -Vr and
-GAn play an important role in the formation of subordinate clauses. According
to their basic properties, they can take part in different aspecto-temporal
forms. The aorist participle -Vr primarily expresses a view in cursu on an
event, but it also allows a posterior reading. The perfect participle -GAn, on
the other hand, expresses anteriority. The use of -GAn in the finite domain is
distinguished from its use in the non-finite domain in that the distinction
between -GAn and the the past tense form -D, which can only appear in finite
position, is neutralized. Besides, the verbs of the non-transformative action
type (Johanson) play an important role in the formation of subordinate
clauses. Next to their aktionsart reading, they also have an aspectual
reading, which affects the combinations with the two participles in different
ways. The aktionsart reading prevails in the construction -(I)p VNA-Vr: The
main verb is reinterpreted as non-transformative, which often leads to a
continuative or iterative interpretation of the event. In the construction
-(I)p VNA-GAn, the aktionsart or the aspectual reading of the VNAs can
prevail. The aspectual reading results in a focal form (Johanson), so that -Vr
in its in cursu reading is relegated to the non-focal view of the event. The
aktionsart reading of the VNAs in combination with -GAn serves to reinterpret
an event as non-transformative and present it as anterior. Relative clauses
are formed by means of participles attributed to a head noun. When the
relative clause
subject is referentially identical with the matrix clause
subject, the relative clause does not overtly refer to its
subject. Otherwise,
the head noun can take a possessive suffix correferential with the relative
clause
subject. If the relative clause
subject is expressed by a nominal
element, this element is genitive-marked. Relative clauses can be formed with
an indefinite head noun. This can lead to constructions excerting an adverbial
modification on the matrix clause. When the lexemes kiži ‚human, person‘, ǰüve
‚thing‘, ǰer ‚place‘ serve as a head noun of a participial construction, it
follows the inflection rules of a relative clause, i.e. a
subject expressed by
a nominal element is genitive-marked. When šaγ ‘time’, öy ‘time’ and the
Kazakh loan gez ‘time, moment, occasion’ serve as a head noun, these
constructions convert to the category of the adverbial clause, so that their

▼ This is the first full-scale, monographical study of the Carmina Latina
Epigraphica of Roman Britain, focusing on philological aspects: previous
scholarship is scarce, and the most advanced piece so far has been a 20pp.
article by Cugusi (2006). If compared to other regions of the Roman Empire
such as for example the Iberian peninsula, Roman Britain shows a remarkably
slim production of verse inscriptions. This is partly due to the fact that
material suitable for the act of inscribing itself is available only in a
certain number of regions of Britain, combined with the fact that those
regions do not happen to coincide with the centres of social, political, and
economic life of the province. Thus stone inscriptions were comparatively
expensive and hard to acquire. The quality of the texts themselves is varying.
There is an epitaph of a father mourning the demise of his daughter; whereas
the hexameters demonstrate knowledge of classical literature as well as an
ability to create a poetical text of comparable quality, the text certainly
was not written by a native speaker.

▼ Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit analysiert die Textaufgaben der Reifeprüfung aus Mathematik aus dem Jahr 2018, um mögliche sprachliche Stolpersteine für Schüler.innen mit Deutsch als Zweitsprache zu identifizieren. Die Analyse orientiert sich an der gegenwärtig relevanten Literatur zu dem Thema.
In einem weiteren Schritt wird untersucht, ob die Angabetexte mithilfe der Konzepte der Leichten und Einfachen Sprache zugänglicher formuliert werden können. Es zeigt sich, dass diese Konzepte nur sehr bedingt geeignet sind, um eine sinnvolle und zielführende Überarbeitung zu erreichen.

▼ In der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit wurde die Schönheit der männlichen Protagonisten im Hinblick auf ihre körperlichen und charakterlichen Vorzüge untersucht. Im Zuge dessen stellte sich auch die Frage, ob das Ideal der „Kalokagathie“ von den männlichen Figuren in Wolfram von Eschenbachs „Parzival“ erfüllt werden konnte. Doch so wie es in der realen Welt nicht nur ein Schwarz und Weiß, ein absolutes Gut und Böse gibt, lässt auch Wolfram bei seinen Helden in der „Höfischen Welt“ Flecken auf ihrer „weißen Weste“ zu. Diese „Elsternfarbigkeit“ ist ein Charakteristikum des Mannes. Dass der Autor nicht wertet, sondern sich der Beurteilung seiner Figuren entzieht und es dem Publikum überlässt, sich eine Meinung zu bilden, konnte im Laufe der Arbeit immer wieder unter Beweis gestellt werden.
Wolframs Männer sind zwar alle äußerlich strahlend schön, wobei ihre Schönheit wie in einem Schönheitswettbewerb gereiht wird, doch weisen sie charakterliche Mängel auf. Die Anwendung der „ausgleichenden Funktion“ der Schönheit spielt hier eine wichtige Rolle, da sie von Wolfram immer dann eingesetzt wird, wenn die Protagonisten Verfehlungen begehen. Außerdem wird auch aufgrund ihres genetischen Erbes für ihre Verstrickung in ein unabwendbares Schicksal um Verständnis und Entschuldigung gebeten.
Neben der körperlichen Schönheit wurde auch die erotische Ausstrahlung der Helden untersucht, wobei der Erotik des Orients eine nicht geringe Bedeutung zukam. Die Untersuchungen zur Sexualität gestalteten sich als sehr kurzweilig, da Wolfram in seinem Werk einen Reigen von Szenen entwirft, der von zarten erotischen Schilderungen bis hin zu deftigen sexuellen Passagen, teilweise unterlegt von kräftigem Humor, reicht.
Wie wichtig die Liebe in diesem Werk ist, zeigt sie anhand ihrer großen Kraft, mit der sie letztendlich die beiden in Unordnung geratenen Gesellschaftskreise (Gralsgesellschaft und Artusgesellschaft) gegen Ende des Romans wieder in einen Zustand der Harmonie und des Friedens führt.
