▼ Assembly code synthesis is a process that requires rigorous care. Typically, this process in mature translators and compilers is relatively safe, though some errors have occasionally been identified. In a more restricted context, the translators used in the smaller communities and developed constantly have been more susceptible to these kind of errors. Considering this context, two translation and verification approaches using the B method have been presented. The first approach considers the B component translation to assembly code for a specific platform by using a formal model of the instruction set, which also allows to debug and to check program properties. This approach can formally ensure the semantic consistency of the translation, although the verification process is difficult and time-consuming. This verification effort was somewhat relieved by the development of BEval, a tool which has made better use of the verification techniques. After applying the automatic verification process using the Atelier B tool, BEval was still able to solve, in the certain models, many of the remaining proof obligations, reaching up to 88 % of total obligations. However, the verification process of this translation approach is still complex, requiring several manual interactions. In order to make a translation more efficient and also safe, a second approach for the translating B to virtual machine code was developed. This second approach used the developed translator B2LLVM and applied the automatic generation of tests to check the consistency of the program specifications and their respective assembly code. This translator also supported the code coverage evaluation and the insertion of the traceability annotations. Thus, this study has significantly contributed to developing B translation to assembly code, providing rigorous support for the verification of the translation. Currently, the B2LLVM outweighs 20,9% the percentage of translatable test samples based on grammar compared to the C4B industrial translator. Furthermore, the generated code by B2LLVM has important advantages in the ample capacity of verification, integration and optimization. [pt] A montagem de fragmentos de sequências biológicas é um problema fundamental na bioinformática. Na montagem de tipo De Novo, onde não existe um genoma de referência, é usada a estrutura de dados do grafo de Bruijn para auxiliar com o processamento computacional. Em particular, é necessário considerar um conjunto grande de k-mers, substrings das sequências biológicas. No entanto, a construção deste grafo tem grande custo computacional, especialmente muito consumo de memoria principal, tornando-se inviável no caso da montagem de grandes conjuntos de k-mers. Há soluções na literatura que utilizam o modelo de memória externa para conseguir executar o procedimento. Porém, todas envolvem alta redundância nos cálculos envolvendo os k-mers, aumentando consideravelmente o número de operações de E/S. Esta tese propõe uma nova abordagem para a construção do grafo de Bruijn que torna desnecessária a geração de todos os k-mer. A solução permite uma redução dos requisitos computacionais e a viabilidade da execução, o que é confirmado com os resultados experimentais.

[en] Fragment assembly is a current fundamental problem in bioinformatics. In the absence of a reference genome sequence that could guide the whole process, a de Bruijn Graph data structure has been considered to improve the computational processing. Notably, we need to count on a broad set of k-mers, biological sequences substrings. However, the construction of de Bruijn Graphs has a high computational cost, primarily due to main memory consumption. Some approaches use external memory processing to achieve feasibility. These solutions generate all k-mers with high redundancy, increasing the number of managed data and, consequently, the number of I/O operations. This thesis proposes a new approach for de Bruijn Graph construction that does not need to generate all k-mers. The solution enables to reduce computational requirements and execution feasibility, which is confirmed with the experimental results.

[pt] Nos últimos anos surgiram novas tecnologias de sequenciamento de DNA conhecidas como NGS - Next-Generation Sequencing. Estas são responsáveis por tornar o processo de sequenciamento mais rápido e menos custoso, mas também trazem como resultado fragmentos de DNA muito pequenos, conhecidos como reads. A montagem do genoma a partir destes fragmentos é considerada um problema complexo devido à sua natureza combinatória e ao grande volume de reads produzidos. De maneira geral, os biólogos e bioinformatas escolhem o programa montador de sequências sem levar em consideração informações da eficiência computacional ou da qualidade biológica do resultado. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo auxiliar aos usuários biólogos a avaliar a qualidade dos resultados da montagem. Primeiramente, foi projetada e desenvolvida uma metodologia para obter informações dos genes presentes na montagem, listando os genes que podem ser identificados, aqueles que têm o tamanho correto e a sequência de pares de bases correta. Em segundo lugar, foram realizados testes experimentais exaustivos envolvendo cinco dos principais montadores de genoma conhecidos na literatura os quais são baseados no uso de grafos de Bruijn e oito genomas de bactérias. Foram feitas comparações estatísticas do resultado usando as ferramentas QUAST e REAPR. Também foram obtidas informações qualitativas dos genes usando o algoritmo proposto e algumas métricas de eficiência. Em função dos resultados coletados, é feita uma análise comparativa que permite aos usuários conhecer melhor o comportamento das ferramentas consideradas nos testes. Por fim, foi desenvolvida uma ferramenta que recebe diferentes resultados de montagens de um mesmo genoma e produz um relatório qualitativo e quantitativo para o usuário interpretar os resultados de maneira integrada.

[en] New DNA sequencing technologies, known as NGS - Next-Generation Sequencing, are responsible for making the sequencing process more efficient. However, they generate a result with very small DNA fragments, known as reads. We consider the genome assembly from these fragments a complex problem due to its combinatorial nature and the large volume of reads produced. In general, biologists and bioinformatics experts choose the sequence assembler program with no regard to the computational efficiency or even the quality of the biological result information. This research aims to assist users in the interpretation of assembly results, including effectiveness and efficiency. In addition, this may sometimes increase the quality of the results obtained. Firstly, we propose an algorithm to obtain information about the genes present in the result assembly. We enumerate the identified genes, those that have the correct size and the correct base pair sequence. Next, exhaustive experimental tests involving five of the main genome assemblers in the literature which are based on the use of graphs of Bruijn and eight bacterial genomes data set were ran. [pt] Esta dissertação investiga o uso de programação genética linear na síntese automática de programas em linguagem de montagem para microcontroladores, que implementem estratégias de controle de tempo ótimo ou sub-ótimo, do sistema a ser controlado, a partir da modelagem matemática por equações dinâmicas. Uma das dificuldades encontradas no projeto convencional de um sistema de controle ótimo é que soluções para este tipo de problema normalmente implicam em uma função altamente não-linear das variáveis de estado do sistema. Como resultado, várias vezes não é possível encontrar uma solução matemática exata. Já na implementação, surge a dificuldade de se ter que programar manualmente o microcontrolador para executar o controle desejado. O objetivo deste trabalho foi, portanto, contornar tais dificuldades através de uma metodologia que, a partir da modelagem matemática de uma planta, fornece como resultado um programa em linguagem de montagem. O trabalho consistiu no estudo sobre os possíveis tipos de representações para a manipulação genética de programas em linguagem de montagem, tendo sido concluído que a linear é a mais adequada, e na implementação de uma ferramenta para realizar os três estudos de caso: water bath, cart centering e pêndulo invertido. O desempenho de controle dos programas sintetizados foi comparado com o dos sistemas obtidos por outros métodos (redes neurais, lógica fuzzy, sistemas neurofuzzy e programação genética). Os programas sintetizados demonstraram, no mínimo, o mesmo desempenho, mas com a vantagem adicional de fornecerem a solução já no formato final da plataforma de implementação escolhida: um microcontrolador.

[en] This dissertation investigates the use of genetic programming in automatic synthesis of assembly language programs for microcontrollers, which implement time-optimal or sub-optimal control strategies of the system to be controlled, from the mathematical modeling by dynamic equations. One of the issues faced in conventional design of an optimal control system is that solutions for this kind of problem commonly involve a highly nonlinear function of the state variables of the system. As a result, frequently it is not possible to find an exact mathematical solution. On the implementation side, the difficulty comes when one has to manually program the microcontroller to run the desired control. Thus, the objective of this work was to overcome these difficulties applying a methodology that, starting from the mathematical modeling of a plant, provides as result an assembly language microcontroller program. The work included a study of the possible types of genetic representation for the manipulation of assembly language programs. In this regard, it has been concluded that the linear is the most suitable representation. The work also included the implementation of a tool to accomplish three study cases: water bath, cart centering and inverted pendulum. [pt] Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar como ocorre a interação entre informações de ordens linguística e visual em experimentos de compreensão de linguagem. Sentenças do português nas vozes ativa e passiva e com verbos de perspectiva (perseguir/fugir) foram analisadas a partir da técnica de comparação sentença-imagem, com manipulação de posição ocupada na imagem pelo personagem correspondente ao sujeito da sentença (esquerda vs. direita) e também do papel temático (agente/fonte vs. paciente/alvo) de um dos personagens sobre o qual recaía um recurso de manipulação de atenção visual. Do ponto de vista teórico, proble-matizou-se a interação entre conteúdos proposicionais oriundos do processamento visual e linguístico com base em uma articulação entre a faculdade da linguagem no sentido amplo (Hauser, Chomsky & Fitch, 2002) e a teoria da modularidade da mente (Fodor, 1983). Os resultados de dois experimentos realizados com falantes de português sugerem que, no mapeamento sentença-imagem, a posição do personagem correspondente ao sujeito não parece ser um fator relevante, a não ser em estruturas mais complexas, como no caso de sentenças envolvendo verbos de perspectiva em que o papel temático do sujeito não é prototípico. Em relação a papel temático, o fato de o foco atencional numa imagem estar sobre um elemento que corresponde a um sujeito com papel prototípico de agente parece facilitar o proces-samento. Quanto aos tipos de estrutura, como já verificado na literatura psicolin-guística, estruturas ativas parecem ser menos complexas do que passivas e facilitam o mapeamento visual. Quanto à expressão de perspectiva, verbos de perspectiva que empreendem um sujeito paciente/alvo parecem demandar maior custo de pro-cessamento, possivelmente em função de questões de acesso e representação lexical associadas a esses verbos.

[en] This dissertation aims to analyze how the interface between linguistic and visual information occurs based on language comprehension experiments. Active and passive voice sentences, as well as perspective predicates were analyzed using a sentence-image verification technique. The position of the characters representing the subject were manipulated (left-right orientation), and so were their theme roles (agent/source vs. patient/target) by means of attention manipulation. The proposi-tional theory, a relation between the faculty of language in the broad sense (Hauser, Chomsky and Fitch, 2002) and the modularity of mind theory (Fodor, 1983) were presented so as to explain how the interface between linguistic and visual information occurs. Our experiments were carried out with Portuguese speakers, and results indicate that during sentence-image mapping, left-right orientation does not seem to be a relevant factor, except for more complex structures, such as perspec-tive predicates where the subject s theme role is not prototypical. [pt] Esta tese realiza análise crítica da Getty Images a fim de compreender atualizações de procedimentos de vigilância e controle perpetrados no campo da publicidade. Parte-se da arqueologia das mídias em busca por especificidades do banco de dados audiovisual para compreender protocolos próprios do ambiente virtual organizados a partir da lógica da invisibilidade. Através da análise semiótica de cinco filmes publicitários produzidos para marca pela agência publicitária brasileira, AlmapBBDO, é possível identificar de forma mais aprofundada estratégias de comunicação de valores e princípios da Getty Images. Em consonância com técnicas de montagem, diálogo com linguagem fragmentada e a partir da reapropriação de conteúdo audiovisual são produzidos pequenos vídeos-ensaios que visam revisitar e explorar paradigmas da imagem, bem como contribuir na reflexão do potencial latente dos bancos de dados audiovisual. Concomitantemente, é apresentada a perspectiva de construção criativa de monstros como estratégia publicitária cada vez mais recorrente como etapa da produção audiovisual. Além disso, é desenvolvida uma aproximação entre técnicas cinematográficas e publicitárias que busca sublinhar hibridismos e possíveis interconexões entre as duas áreas. Por fim, são apresentados exemplos que apontam possíveis utilizações da publicidade como forma de resistência e promotora de reflexão crítica diante de conjunturas norteadas por preceitos exclusivamente capitalistas.

[en] This thesis conducts a critical analysis of Getty Images to understand updates to surveillance and control procedures carried out in the field of advertising. It starts from the media archeology in search of specificities of the audiovisual database to understand protocols proper to the virtual environment that are often organized based on the logic of invisibility. Through the semiotic analysis of five advertising films produced for the brand by the Brazilian advertising agency, AlmapBBDO, it is possible to identify in more depth strategies for communicating Getty Images values and principles. In line with montage techniques, dialogue with fragmented language and from the re-appropriation of audiovisual content, small video-essays are produced that aim to revisit and explore paradigms of the image, as well as contribute to the reflection of the latent potential of audiovisual databases. Concomitantly, the prospect of creative construction of monsters is presented as an increasingly recurring advertising strategy as a stage of audiovisual production. Also, an approach is developed between cinematographic and advertising techniques that seeks to underline hybridism and possible interconnections between the two areas. Finally, examples are presented that point to potential uses of advertising as a form of resistance and to promote critical reflection in front of circumstances exclusively guided by capitalist precepts.

[pt] Linguagens de programação tem tradicionalmente sido classificadas como estaticamente tipadas ou dinamicamente tipadas, estas últimas também sendo conhecidas como linguagens de scripting. Linguagens com tipagem dinâmica são bastante populares para a escrita de programas menores, um cenário onde a facilidade de uso e flexibilidade da linguagem são altamente valorizados. No entanto, com o passar do tempo, pequenos scripts podem se tornar grandes sistemas e a flexibilidade da linguagem pode passar a ser uma fonte de defeitos no programa. Para estes sistemas maiores, a tipagem estática, que oferece detecção de erros em tempo de compilação, melhor documentação e oportunidades de otimização, passa a ser mais atrativa. Como reescrever todo o sistema em uma linguagem estática não é ideal do ponto de um vista da engenharia de software, encontrar formas de adicionar tipos estáticos em programas dinamicamente tipados já existentes tem sido uma área de pesquisa bem rica. Nesse trabalho, nós apresentamos uma perspectiva histórica dessa pesquisa. Nos focamos em abordagens que não são específicas para uma única linguagem de programação, como as Type Hints de Common LISP, o Soft Typing de Fagan et al e o Gradual Typing de Siek et al, contrastando essas diferentes soluções a partir de uma perspectiva moderna.

[en] Programming languages have traditionally been classified as either statically typed or dynamically typed, the latter often being known as scripting languages. Dynamically typed languages are very popular for writing smaller programs, a setting where ease of use and flexibility of the language are highly valued. However, with time, small scripts tend to evolve into large systems and the flexibility of the dynamic language may become a source of program defects. For these larger systems, static typing, which offers compile-time error detection, improved documentation and optimization opportunities, becomes more attractive. Since rewriting the whole system in a statically typed language is not ideal from a software engineering point of view, investigating ways of adding static types to existing dynamically typed programs has been a thriving research area. In this work, we present a historical overview of this research. We focus on general approaches that apply to multiple programming languages, such as the Type Hints of Common LISP, the Soft Typing of Fagan et al and the Gradual Typing of Siek et al, contrasting these different solutions from a modern perspective.

[pt] Normas sociais têm se tornado uma das abordagens mais promissoras para garantir uma ordem social desejável em sistemas multiagentes. Nestes sistemas, agentes autônomos trabalham a fim de atingir objetivos comuns ou diferentes. Normas regulam o comportamento de tais agentes definindo obrigações e proibições, fornecendo recompensas e estabelecendo punições a fim de incentivá-los a se comportarem de acordo com as normas. Embora o uso de normas seja um mecanismo promissor para regular o comportamento de agentes, o desenvolvimento de agentes capazes de atuar em um sistema, adotar as normas e lidar com as mesmas autonomamente tem sido mais difícil do que o desenvolvimento de agentes tradicionais. A razão para esta dificuldade é a falta de mecanismos que possibilitem o desenvolvimento de agentes autônomos capazes de lidar com questões relacionadas a normas. Nesta tese, apresenta-se uma abordagem para desenvolvimento de agentes capazes de lidar autonomamente com questões normativas. Para tanto, a abordagem fornece um modelo arquitetural para apoiar um agente no raciocínio sobre as normas. Tal modelo estende o modelo Belief-Desire-Intention adicionando um conjunto de funções que auxiliam o agente na adoção de novas normas, na verificação da ativação, desativação, cumprimento e violação das normas, na seleção de quais normas devem ser cumpridas ou violadas, na detecção e resolução de conflitos entre normas, na geração de novos objetivos e na seleção de objetivos, planos e intenções, levando em consideração as normas do sistema. Além disto, a abordagem fornece os mecanismos necessários para implementação de agentes projetados a partir do modelo arquitetural proposto. Dois cenários são utilizados para exemplificar a abordagem proposta. O primeiro está relacionado ao planejamento de missões de resgate reguladas por normas. O segundo está relacionado ao suporte ao desenvolvimento de software regulado por normas. Por fim, experimentos são apresentados que demonstram a importância de desenvolver agentes a partir da abordagem proposta seja na visão do agente ou da sociedade.

[en] Social norms have become one of the most promising approaches toward ensuring a desirable social outcome in multi-agent systems. In these systems, autonomous and heterogeneous agents work toward common or different goals. Norms regulate the behaviour of these agents by defining obligations and prohibitions, and by creating rewards and penalties to encourage the agents to behave so as to meet these norms. Although the use of norms is a promising mechanism to regulate the agents’ behavior, the development of agents able to join an agents society, to adopt the norms and to work with them autonomously has shown to be significantly more challenging than traditional agents. The reason for this difficulty is the lack of agent models that allow developing of autonomous agents able to cope with issues related to norms. [pt] Esta dissertação investiga a interface linguagem-matemática, com foco em tarefas de resolução de problemas de divisão partitiva e por quotas. Investigamos se dificuldades nesse tipo de tarefa podem estar relacionadas à complexidade linguística dos enunciados. Discute-se em que medida o padrão composicional e as estruturas linguísticas utilizadas nos enunciados podem afetar o desempenho dos alunos nesses dois tipos de problemas. Para realizar essa investigação, foram conduzidos três experimentos com alunos do segundo ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola da rede pública federal de ensino no Rio de Janeiro. No primeiro experimento, foram utilizados como itens experimentais os enunciados dos livros didáticos e os resultados indicam diferença significativa entre as condições, com maior número de acertos em divisão partitiva. No segundo experimento, novos enunciados foram criados, controlando-se tanto a estrutura informacional quanto a complexidade gramatical nos dois tipos de problemas. Os resultados mostram desempenho similar nas duas condições. No experimento 3, investigamos o tipo de interpretação preferida para enunciados ambíguos com sujeito composto. Verificou-se clara preferência por leituras coletivas e constatou-se que, quando estruturas ambíguas são utilizadas, o desempenho dos alunos volta a diferir entre as condições, com pior desempenho na divisão por quotas. Esta pesquisa indica que a dificuldade dos alunos em enunciados de divisão pode ser reduzida com o controle da complexidade gramatical, o que mostra o papel fundamental da observação de variáveis linguísticas na aferição de conhecimento matemático e na elaboração de materiais didáticos.

[en] This work investigates the interface of language-mathematics, focusing on partitive and quotative division problem solving tasks. We investigate whether the difficulties students face when solving mathematical verbal problems can be related to linguistic complexity of the commands. We also discuss how the composition and linguistic structures that are used in the verbal problems can affect student s performance. We conducted three experiments with students of the second year of a primary school in Rio de Janeiro. In the first experiment, we used problems extracted from textbooks as experimental items; the results indicate a significant difference between the partitive and quotative conditions, resulting in a bigger number of correct answers regarding partitive division. In the second experiment, we created new commands, controlling their informational structure as well as their grammatical complexity. The results show a similar performance in both conditions. As for experiment 3, our aim was to investigate the type of interpretation students would prefer in ambiguous propositions, in which the subject of the sentence is a compound subject (coordinated structure). [pt] Este estudo delineia e analisa as características que consolidam e identificam o gênero relato de caso, tipicamente publicado em periódicos na área biomédica. O objeto de estudo é motivo de polêmica na comunidade médica, que discute o valor e a representatividade deste tipo de produção. Para auxiliar na compreensão do debate, apresenta-se um panorama dos estudos sobre linguagem e ciência e das questões políticas vinculadas à publicação científica atualmente. No cerne das fundamentações teóricas sobre gêneros discursivos que sustentam a tessitura desta pesquisa está a noção de gênero como ação retórica tipificada, constituída no interior de uma comunidade, e que atende a um propósito comunicativo (Bazerman, 1988, 2004; Bhatia, 1996; Miller, 1984; Swales, 1990). Alinhada a esta perspectiva, a análise foi realizada por meio de uma adaptação do modelo CARS (Create a Research Space) de Swales (1990, 2004), visando a apresentar um padrão de organização retórica das informações no relato de caso, evidenciando as características que o constituem como gênero discursivo. Também se discorre sobre a função do título e de outros sistemas semióticos (além do signo linguístico) na composição do sentido do texto. O quadro de três movimentos retóricos realizados por meio de onze subfunções, resultante da análise, revela o relato de caso como um gênero híbrido de relato e artigo científico, de maneira que é possível concebê-lo como relevante manifestação de prosa acadêmica, atendendo a um propósito específico da comunidade médica.

[en] This dissertation describes and analyzes the characteristics of the case report genre found in biomedical periodicals. This genre has aroused considerable discussion in the medical community, concerning the value and the representativeness that this kind of text has for medical publications. As background to the discussion, this study outlines work in the area of language and science and, as well, the issues of editorial policy in contemporary scientific publications. The central concepts from genre theory that underlie this research are the ideas that a genre is typified rhetorical action, it is constructed within a discourse community, and it fulfills/meets a particular communicative purpose (Bazerman, 1988, 2004; Bhatia, 1996; Miller, 1984; Swales, 1990).The analysis uses an adapted version of Swales (1990, 2004) CARS model, to show the rhetorical pattern of information in the case report and the characteristics that identify it as a genre. The analysis also extends to the function of the titles and to the semiotic system of images, in addition to the linguistic system, in the construction of meaning in the text. The model that emerged from the analysis, with three rhetorical movements and eleven sub functions, reveals that the case report is a hybrid genre with traits of the report and the research article. Thus, the study suggests that this genre has its own place as a kind of academic text and that it serves a particular purpose for the medical community.

[pt] Aprendizado de estruturas consiste em aprender um mapeamento de variáveis de entrada para saídas estruturadas a partir de exemplos de pares entrada-saída. Vários problemas importantes podem ser modelados desta maneira. O processamento de linguagem natural provê diversas tarefas que podem ser formuladas e solucionadas através do aprendizado de estruturas. Por exemplo, parsing de dependência envolve o reconhecimento de uma árvore implícita em uma frase. Geração de atributos é uma sub-tarefa importante do aprendizado de estruturas. Geralmente, esta sub-tarefa é realizada por um especialista que constrói gabaritos de atributos complexos e discriminativos através da combinação dos atributos básicos disponíveis na entrada. Esta é uma forma limitada e cara para geração de atributos e é reconhecida como um gargalo de modelagem. Neste trabalho, propomos um método automático para geração de atributos para problemas de aprendizado de estruturas. Este método é guiado por entropia já que é baseado na entropia condicional de variáveis locais de saída dados os atributos básicos. Comparamos experimentalmente o método proposto com dois métodos alternativos para geração de atributos: geração manual e métodos de kernel polinomial. Nossos resultados mostram que o método de geração de atributos guiado por entropia é superior aos dois métodos alternativos em diferentes aspectos. Nosso método é muito mais barato do que o método manual e computacionalmente mais rápido que o método baseado em kernel. Adicionalmente, ele permite o controle do seu poder de generalização mais facilmente do que métodos de kernel. Nós avaliamos nosso método em nove datasets envolvendo cinco tarefas de linguística computacional e quatro idiomas. Os sistemas desenvolvidos apresentam resultados comparáveis aos melhores sistemas atualmente e, particularmente para etiquetagem morfossintática, identificação de sintagmas, extração de citações e resolução de coreferência, obtêm os melhores resultados conhecidos para diferentes idiomas como Árabe, Chinês, Inglês e Português. Adicionalmente, nosso sistema de resolução de coreferência obteve o primeiro lugar na competição Conference on Computational Natural Language Learning 2012 Shared Task. O sistema vencedor foi determinado pela média de desempenho em três idiomas: Árabe, Chinês e Inglês. Nosso sistema obteve o melhor desempenho nos três idiomas avaliados. [pt] Esta tese se propõe à construção de uma perspectiva teórica que observe as aporias e antinomias reveladas pelo regime contemporâneo das imagens. As imagens constituem um ponto de peculiar fricção e desconforto junto às ciências humanas, não só como um tópico de estudo, mas como característica cultural divisada. Esse campo vem se definindo de modo interdisciplinar e alargando sua perspectiva na linha de pesquisa denominada Cultura Visual (Visual Culture). T.W. Mitchell fala de um pictorial turn ou inclusive um visual turn que estariam relacionados com um enfoque apoiado por infiltrações mútuas entre duas epistemologias, a visual e a linguística, o que problematiza a premissa naturalizada de se entender o ato interpretativo como o núcleo da competência profissional dos especialistas de nossa área. As imagens ou as visualidades demandam seus próprios modos de análise e exigem do investigador um tratamento operacional e uma consequente definição de termos que suportem suas particularidades. Ao tópico, acrescenta-se a reinstalação warburguiana que coincide, não por acaso, com este giro e induz à pesquisa fundamental atenção em algumas vertentes heurísticas do trabalho de Aby Warburg, pensador alemão que ao princípio do século XX explorou um campo de inter-relações entre a antropologia, imagens e arte. No exemplo do projeto Der Bilderatlas Mnemosyne, antecipa-se a reflexão atual. As proposições de Warburg, bem como as pesquisas teóricas de importante exegeta de sua obra George Didi-Huberman, buscam entender qualquer imagem como um cruzamento de múltiplas migrações – tanto em seu modelo de tempo, Nachleben, como em seu modelo de sentido, Pathosformel – e oferecem ferramenta metodológica central a essa investigação. A partir de uma moldura teórica sistêmica, a tese enfoca o projeto de artistas visuais, como Harun Farocki, cujo trabalho realiza uma arqueologia do saber visual através da prospecção e montagem de tempos heterogêneos, mediante imagens animadas por uma energia expressiva e por uma enorme espessura histórico-cultural. A análise desses agenciamentos procura delinear sua inserção ambivalente na cena contemporânea em que o sistema de comunicação impõe-se como força estruturante de novas formas de socialização através de práticas culturais e tecnologia, com amplas consequências para o campo humanístico, oferecendo enfoques inovadores à dinâmica de articulação de formas de vida e de cultura com as tecnologias de imediação. A dimensão transnacional do tráfico e da produção de imagens situa a imagem no centro dos debates sobre o papel da representação nas culturas globais. Estas questões poderiam cumprir-se em dois problemas fundamentais, a hibridação dos campos disciplinares e a relação entre a imagem e o arquivo com relação à memória, à história, à justiça. [pt] Transparência, no sentido de translúcido, é um conceito presente em uma enorme variedade de âmbitos e, recentemente, tem sido explorado no contexto de software. Um software transparente é aquele que informa sobre si mesmo, disponibilizando informação sobre o que faz, como e porque o faz. A abordagem da transparência no contexto de software se iniciou através da instanciação de um catálogo de requisitos não funcionais (RNFs), que inicialmente foi desenvolvido para transparência de processos. Durante a construção deste catálogo, notou-se que os RNFs dependência, rastreabilidade e detalhamento, presentes no catálogo, estão relacionados a problemas clássicos da Engenharia de Software. Estes problemas são, respectivamente, a definição de critérios para modularização do software, rastreabilidade entre seus artefatos e entendimento do seu código. Neste trabalho, propomos estratégias para lidar especificamente com estes três problemas, contribuindo também para construção de softwares mais transparentes, uma vez que sua solução implica na satisfação de qualidades do catálogo. Estas estratégias foram estruturadas através de um processo de construção de software. Esse processo tem como escopo software para Web, utilizando arquitetura MVC, desenvolvido através do paradigma de programação procedural. A ideia central do processo é a utilização de dois artefatos de requisitos, Léxico Ampliado da Linguagem (LAL) e cenários, durante todo processo de construção do software. O LAL é utilizado na definição dos módulos do software. Os cenários são refinados em diferentes níveis de abstração, de modo que permeiam todo o processo, desde os requisitos até serem integrados ao código fonte do software. Os rastros entre os diferentes níveis de abstração dos cenários são mantidos. As operacionalizações propostas no processo foram anexadas ao catálogo de transparência de software, possibilitando futura reutilização orientada a qualidades. O processo e suas operacionalizações foram avaliados através de estudos empíricos envolvendo diversos sujeitos. O resultado das avaliações sugere que o processo contribui positivamente para as qualidades de detalhamento, dependência e rastreabilidade, presentes no catálogo de transparência.

[en] Transparency is a concept that permeates different disciplines, and recently has been explored in the context of software engineering. Transparent software aims to make information about it transparent and also aims to provide transparency on its behavior. The study of transparency in the context of software started by instantiating a catalog of non-functional requirements (NFRs). During the construction of this catalog, we realized that the NFRs of traceability, dependability and detailing are related to classical problems in software engineering. These problems are, respectively, the definition of software modules, traceability between its artifacts and the understanding of its source code. [pt] Esta pesquisa reflete sobre o pensamento acerca da linguagem que se pode depreender da poesia de Fernando Pessoa, enfatizando a questão heteronímica. Pretende-se investigar, no gesto heteronímico, uma relação com a palavra que, ultrapassando o seu uso como mero instrumento de expressão de uma subjetividade suposta, permite uma apreensão do fenômeno linguístico que se aproxima da noção wittgensteiniana de linguagem como forma de vida, lançando, contudo, uma nova luz sobre este conceito, potencializando-o. Explora-se, mais especificamente, a hipótese de que é possível reconhecer na estratégia heteronímica uma percepção da linguagem que, encontrando afinidade com a ideia wittgensteiniana de forma de vida, extrapola-a enquanto realização poética, em especial pelo modo como tensiona a ideia de performatividade na linguagem e pela forma como promete deslocar a própria noção de vida. Ao aproximar as escritas de Pessoa e Wittgenstein, a reflexão proposta contribui potencialmente para: (a) os estudos pessoanos, na medida em que considera o gesto heteronímico no âmbito de um diálogo pouco frequentado, privilegiando o papel da linguagem no centro da criação heteronímica; (b) os estudos wittgensteinianos, pois promete trazer aportes para a discussão de um aspecto sabidamente difícil de seu pensamento - a noção de forma de vida; (c) os estudos da linguagem e da literatura de um modo geral, uma vez que deseja contemplar o enlace intrínseco a esses dois campos do saber.

[en] This research reflects on the thought about the language that emerges from Fernando Pessoa s poetry, emphasizing the heteronymic aspect. We intend to investigate, in the heteronymic gesture, a relation with the word that, by surpassing its use as mere instrument of expression of a supposed subjectivity, allows an apprehension of the linguistic phenomenon which comes close to the wittgensteinian notion of language as form of life, bringing, though, new light to the concept, potentiating it. We explore, more specifically, the hypothesis that it is possible to recognize upon the heteronymic strategy a perception of language which extrapolates the wittgensteinian idea of form of life as poetical happening, especially through the way it articulates the idea of performativity in the language and promises to displace the notion of life itself. By putting together Pessoa and Wittgensteins writings, the reflection proposed potentially contributes to: (a) the studies on Fernando Pessoa, by considering the heteronymic gesture within a dialogue little explored, thus privileging the role of the language in the center of the heteronymic creation; (b) the wittgensteinian studies, for it promises to bring contributions to the discussion of a difficult aspect of his thought – the notion of form of life; (c) the literary and language studies in general, for it aims at contemplating the intrinsic links between both knowledge fields.

[pt] Este trabalho objetiva descrever e analisar a classe gramatical dos adjetivos no português do Brasil e suas respectivas mudanças de carga semântica quando estes se encontram na função de adjunto adnominal e estão antepostos ao substantivo. Verificou-se que as gramáticas normativas do Português no Brasil, assim como os livros didáticos destinados ao ensino de Português para estrangeiros, em geral, não fazem referências às mudanças semânticas que ocorrem com esta classe gramatical em posição anteposta. A fundamentação teórica desta dissertação concentra-se, primeiramente, na descrição da classe gramatical do adjetivo nos compêndios teóricos e gramaticais destinados ao ensino de Português para brasileiros e estrangeiros. Na segunda parte, a ênfase é dada aos estudos realizados na área da Pragmática, e vale-se dos conceitos de língua e linguagem, sobretudo à luz das reflexões da Filosofia da Linguagem, e da Antropologia Linguística que vê a cultura como sistema de práticas. Por fim, a pesquisa discorrerá sobre a análise dos adjetivos em amostras retiradas de textos escritos, cujas fontes são jornalísticas ou oriundas de propagandas e, que demonstrem aspectos culturais na vida cotidiana do brasileiro. A principal contribuição do trabalho é de proporcionar aos profissionais de ensino de PL2-E maior reflexão quanto ao ensino/aprendizagem da gramática de português como segunda língua para estrangeiros.

[en] This work aims to describe and to analyze the grammatical class of the adjectives in the Brazilian Portuguese and its respective changes of semantic loads, when they function as adnominal adjunct and appear before the subject. It was verified that the Brazilian normative grammars of Portuguese, as well as didactic books aiming the teaching of Portuguese for foreigners, in general, do not make reference to the semantic changes that occur within this grammatical class when it is placed before the subject. The theoretical basis of this dissertation focus, firstly, in the description of the grammatical class of the adjective in the theoretical and grammatical compendiums destined to the teaching of Portuguese for both Brazilians and foreigners. In a second part, the emphasis is given to the studies developed in Pragmatics, using the concepts of language and discourse, mainly through the light that is shed by the Philosophy of Language, and the Linguistic Anthropology that sees culture as a system of practices. Finally, the research deals with the analysis of the adjectives found in written texts samples, taken from advertisements or journalistic pieces, that demonstrate cultural aspects of the daily life in Brazil. The main contribution of this work is to provide to the PL2-E teaching professionals a deeper reflection about the teaching/learning process of the Portuguese grammar as a second language for foreigners.

[pt] A necessidade de aumentar a produtividade no setor da construção civil estimulou investimentos em soluções digitais e a incorporação de princípios de manufatura na cadeia construtiva. A implementação de elementos estruturais padronizados fabricados fora do canteiro de obra é considerada uma prática válida para atingir este objetivo. O projeto para fabricação e montagem é um conceito que envolve diretrizes a serem consideradas no desenvolvimento do projeto, cuja finalidade é facilitar a fabricação e montagem de componentes. A metodologia BIM pode incorporar análises de planejamento e construtibilidade para apoiar a tomada de decisão no contexto de construções replicáveis em escala de concreto armado. A presente investigação inclui uma revisão sistemática da literatura que orientou a pesquisa. Com base na SLR (Structured Literature Review), foi desenvolvido um Manual de Entrega de Informações que propõe um novo fluxo de trabalho no qual os estudos de planejamento construtivo e princípios de fabricação e montagem são agregados nos estágios iniciais do projeto para aproveitar a colaboração intrínseca da metodologia BIM. Para ilustrar o fluxo de trabalho proposto no IDM (Information Delivery Manual) desenvolvido é apresentado um experimento de um complexo de escolas. As informações do modelo parametrizado serviram como dados de entrada para as análises realizadas permitindo assim que pudessem ser comtemplados diferentes cenários de soluções estruturais. Os resultados obtidos pelo experimento indicam que a consideração de elementos de concreto pré-fabricado nem sempre vai contra os interesses econômicos, práticos e estéticos. Por fim, as análises de planejamento e construtibilidade são parâmetros importantes nas tomadas de decisão para aprimorar a identificação de oportunidades de melhorias no projeto e potencializar a eficiência de trabalho no canteiro de obra.

[en] The need to increase the civil construction sector stimulates investments in digital solutions and manufacturing principles in construction industry. The employment of standardized structural elements manufactured off-site construction, such as structural precast element, is considered a valid practice to achieve this purpose. The Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) is a concept that involves guidelines considered in the development of the project and has the objective to facilitate the manufacturing and assembly of a product or component. Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology can incorporate planning and constructability analysis to support decision making in the context of scalable and replicable concrete building projects. [pt] A área de pesquisa em Montagem de Genomas tem evoluído rapidamente, adaptando-se às novas tecnologias de sequenciamento e modernos ambientes computacionais. Existem diversos softwares montadores que usam múltiplas abordagens, porém persiste o questionamento sobre a qualidade da montagem ao final do processo. Assim que uma montagem é finalizada, muitas medidas de qualidade podem ser geradas, a fim de que a montagem seja qualificada. Todavia, essas medidas apenas fornecem aos biólogos valores quantitativos acerca da montagem. Nós propomos nesta pesquisa um framework de domínio para o processo de análise de medidas pós montagem de genomas. Nosso objetivo é de prover a interpretação dos dados e avaliação da qualidade das montagens a partir do Framework. O Genome Assembly Analysis Framework (GAAF) foi projetado para trabalhar com espécies, montadores e medidas distintas. Para validar nossa proposta, foram realizados testes com o GAAF que permitem entender como o mesmo pode ser utilizado e de que maneira ele pode ser instanciado e/ou estendido.

[en] The Genome Assembly research area has quickly evolved, adapting to new sequencing technologies and modern computational environments. There exist many assembler software that consider multiple approaches. However, at the end of the process, one can always question the quality of assemblies. When an assembly is accomplished, some quality features may be generated, in order to qualify it. Nonetheless, the features do not directly tell one about assembly quality, but only bring to the biologists quantitative assembly descriptions. We propose a Domain Framework for the feature analysis process post-genome Assembly. Our goal is to enable data interpretation and assembly quality evaluation. The Genome Assembly Analysis Framework (GAAF) was designed to work with distinct species, assemblers and features. In order to validate our proposal, we have run a few practical experiments with GAAF, which make us understand the way it can be used, instantiated and extended.

[pt] Expressões regulares são um formalismo utilizado para descrever linguagens regulares e compõem a base de diversas bibliotecas de casamento de padrão. No entanto, existem determinados padrões úteis que são complexos ou impossíveis de serem descritos com expressões regulares puras. Devido a essas limitações, linguagens de script modernas disponibilizam bibliotecas de casamento de padrões baseadas em regexes, isto é, extensões de expressões regulares compostas, principalmente, por construções ad-hoc que focam em problemas específicos. Apesar de serem muito úteis na prática, os regexes possuem implementações complexas e distantes do formalismo original de expressões regulares. Parsing Expression Grammars (PEG) são uma alternativa formal para reconhecer padrões e possuem mais expressividade que expressões regulares sem necessitar de contruções ad-hoc. O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar formas de conversão de regexes para PEGs. Para isso, estudamos as implementações atuais de regexes e mostramos a conversão de algumas construções para PEGs. Por fim, apresentamos uma implementação da conversão de regexes para PEGs para a linguagem Lua.

[en] Regular expressions are a formalism used to describe regular languages and form the basis of several pattern-matching libraries. However, many interesting patterns either are difficult to describe or cannot be described by pure regular expressions. Because of these limitations, modern scripting languages have pattern matching libraries based on regexes, ie, extensions of regular expressions mainly composed by a set of ad-hoc constructions that focus on specific problems. Although very useful in practice, these implementations are complex and distant from the original formalism of regular expressions. Parsing Expression Grammars (PEG) are a formal alternative to recognize patterns and it is much more expressive than pure regular expressions and does not need use ad-hoc constructions. The goal of this work is to study the convertion of regexes to PEGs. To accomplish this task, we studied the current implementations of regexes and show how to convert some constructions to PEGs. Finally, we present an implementation that convert regexes to PEGs for the Lua language.
