Vergnaud (1985) propose une structure de type (S,I,S) qui sous-tend que la construction d’un concept scientifique est accompagnée entre autres de l’émergence d’un système d’invariant(s) lié au concept. Nous proposons ici d’observer si, en sciences physiques, sur l’exemple du concept d’élément chimique au sein de classes de seconde générale du lycée, l’élaboration de l’invariant, dans le cadre d’une telle structure (S,I,S), est, sinon la condition de celle du concept, susceptible de le rendre plus lisible. Nos résultats montrent que la construction du concept d’élément chimique semble être conditionnée par celle de son invariant. En revanche la réciprocité ne paraît pas aussi évidente. Nous observons des tendances similaires sur d’autres concepts en sciences physiques, lesquels sont en cours d’exploitation. Cela nous amène à penser que les invariants pourraient se voir doter, en sciences physiques, d’un statut didactique « majeur ». Nous proposons une ébauche de classification des invariants, en sciences physiques, afin de donner de la lisibilité aux objets complexes que sont les concepts scientifiques auxquels ils sont associés. Nous imaginons que toutes les disciplines pourraient « penser » leurs invariants et que ces derniers pourraient être valorisés, au sein des organismes de formation, pour ce qu’ils sont susceptibles d’apporter aux élèves dans un cursus d’apprentissage.

Vergnaud (1985) propose a structure of type (S, I, S) which underlies the construction of a scientific concept is accompanied by among others the emergence of a system invariant (s) related to the concept. We propose here to observe whether, physical sciences, the example of the concept of chemical element  within general classes of second  school, the development of the invariant under such a structure (S, I, S) is, if the condition of the concept, which may make it more readable. Our results show that the construction of the concept of chemical element seems to be conditioned by its invariant. However reciprocity does not seem so obvious.We observe similar trends on other concepts in the physical sciences, which are in operation. This leads us to believe that the invariants could be build, physical sciences, educational status "major". We propose a draft classification of invariants, physical sciences, in order to give clarity to complex objects that are scientific concepts which they are associated.We imagine that all disciplines could "think" their invariants and that they could be recovered within training organizations for what they are likely to provide students with a learning curve.

[Truncated abstract] In this thesis an attempt is made to link together, or find common ground between, a few seemingly disparate things. Firstly, an attempt is made to link some of the critical interests or obsessions of the twentieth-century English poet and critic, Ted Hughes, to those of the twentiethcentury American memoirist and critic, Paul Fussell. In particular, an attempt is made to find a link between Hughes' work on writers such as William Shakespeare, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, T.S. Eliot, Wilfred Owen and Keith Douglas, and Fussell's work on writers such as T.S. Eliot, Wilfred Owen, Keith Douglas and Robert Byron. Secondly, an attempt is made to link together, or find common ground between, the works of the nineteenth-century English poet and critic, Matthew Arnold, and those of the twentieth-century American poet and critic, T.S. Eliot. In particular, an attempt is made to find common ground between Arnold's poem, "Empedocles on Etna", and Eliot's poem, "The Waste Land", and to link that to the critical interests of Hughes and Fussell. Arnold's concept of the buried life, which has its basis in nineteenth-century uniformitarianism, such as that of Ralph Waldo Emerson, provides the link or common ground between these seemingly disparate things; and an understanding of this concept allows for a reading or interpretation of "Empedocles on Etna" that is not possible without that understanding. This thesis explores the concept of the buried life, then, with particular reference to its use in the works of Matthew Arnold. It also explores the concept's origins in the literature of the late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth-centuries, and in ancient Greek literature; its use in the literature of the mid-nineteenth-century by writers other than Arnold; and its influence on the literature of the late-nineteenth and the early to midtwentieth-centuries.

In particular, it looks at its influence on T.S. Eliot. As the concept of the buried life did not develop in isolation, and is similar to a number of other concepts from the period 1750-1950, other related concepts from that period, such as Emerson's concept of the universal mind, Friedrich Nietzsche's concept of the primal unity and Carl Jung's concept of the collective unconscious, are discussed in this thesis, insofar as they can help to explain the origins, nature and influence of the buried life. It is argued that the buried life is a concept that, firstly, helps to explain the nature of poetic inspiration, so that it is like the old idea of the poetic Muse. However, it locates the Muse mainly within the poet's subconscious mind, but also within what is usually buried in certain landscapes or submerged in certain seascapes. Secondly, it is argued that this concept is like a replacement for, supplement to, or alternative version of Christianity, which locates God mainly within the poet's subconscious mind, but also within what is buried in landscapes or submerged in seascapes; and it equates God with a type of universal consciousness. [pt] Esta dissertação introduz um estudo sobre os algoritmos de inteligência computacional para o controle autônomo dos robôs móveis, Nesta pesquisa, são desenvolvidos e implementados sistemas inteligentes de controle de um robô móvel construído no Laboratório de Robótica da PUC-Rio, baseado numa modificação do robô ER1. Os experimentos realizados consistem em duas etapas: a primeira etapa de simulação usando o software Player-Stage de simulação do robô em 2-D onde foram desenvolvidos os algoritmos de navegação usando as técnicas de inteligência computacional; e a segunda etapa a implementação dos algoritmos no robô real. As técnicas implementadas para a navegação do robô móvel estão baseadas em algoritmos de inteligência computacional como são redes neurais, lógica difusa e support vector machine (SVM) e para dar suporte visual ao robô móvel foi implementado uma técnica de visão computacional chamado Scale Invariant Future Transform (SIFT), estes algoritmos em conjunto fazem um sistema embebido para dotar de controle autônomo ao robô móvel. As simulações destes algoritmos conseguiram o objetivo, mas na implementação surgiram diferenças muito claras respeito à simulação pelo tempo que demora em processar o microprocessador.

[en] This theses introduces a study on the computational intelligence algorithms for autonomous control of mobile robots, In this research, intelligent systems are developed and implemented for a robot in the Robotics Laboratory of PUC-Rio, based on a modiÞcation of the robot ER1. The verification consist of two stages: the first stage includes simulation using Player-Stage software for simulation of the robot in 2-D with the developed of artiÞcial intelligence; an the second stage, including the implementation of the algorithms in the real robot. The techniques implemented for the navigation of the mobile robot are based on algorithms of computational intelligence as neural networks, fuzzy logic and support vector machine (SVM); and to give visual support to the mobile robot was implemented the visual algorithm called Scale Invariant Future Transform (SIFT), these algorithms in set makes an absorbed system to endow with independent control the mobile robot. The simulations of these algorithms had obtained the objective but in the implementation clear differences had appeared respect to the simulation, it just for the time that delays in processing the microprocessor.

En milieu océanique grand-fond (profondeur >1000 m), la propagation d'ondes acoustiques UltraBasse Fréquences (UBF, 1-300 Hz) est caractérisée par une forte influence des propriétés géo-acoustiquede l'environnement marin. Classiquement, des méthodes de localisation du type matched field processing sont mises en place pour intégrer cet aspect lors de l'inversion. Cependant, ces méthodes sont connues pour être très sensibles à de petites erreurs de modélisation de l'environnement, qui sont en pratique inévitables. C'est pourquoi il convient mieux de se tourner vers d’autres méthodes d’inversion plus robustes à la méconnaissance de l'environnement. Dans ce manuscrit on choisit d'étudier une quantité, appelée invariant océanique. Elle est associée à la formation d’interférence et montre des propriétés intéressantes de robustesse à de petites variations des propriétés géo-acoustique du milieu. En adoptant une approche ondulatoire de la propagation, on s’intéresse particulièrement à deux phénomènes responsables de sa dépendance à la configuration source récepteur (la prédominance du champ acoustique par des groupes de modes et le comportement différencié des ondes montante et descendante constituant un mode). Cette approche permet une prédiction précise et une compréhension profonde du phénomène d'interférence en milieu grand-fond. En couplant cette théoriede l'invariant océanique avec le concept d'énergie piégée, une méthode de localisation est ensuite proposée. Elle prend la forme d'une discrimination en immersion utilisant comme entrée l'intensité acoustique d'un signal large bande reçu sur une antenne horizontale.

Within the deep-water ocean (depth >1000 m), low frequencies (1-300 Hz) acoustic waves are characterized by very long range propagation. In this context, the propagation is largely impacted by the oceanic environment. Thus, localization methods based on classical plane wave models do not perform well. Matched field processing has been proposed to include better environmental models, but it is known to perform poorly as soon as the environment is not perfectly known. Given that the ocean is a dynamic system, it changes quickly over time and space making this method inapplicable in an operational context. To circumvent this issue, a better way is to consider methods that do not require detailed knowledge about the environment.In this manuscript I consider a quantity called the Waveguide Invariant (WI) which is known to be robust to small environment variations. In particular, I investigate two phenomenons responsible for its dependence to the source-receiver configuration: the dominance of the acoustic field by groups of modes and the frequency dependence of the Eigenmodes. Using a ray-mode approach, these two features are integrated in a WI derivation which provides a thorough way to predict and understand the striation patterns in deep-water context. Neste trabalho, temos o objetivo de introduzir o Problema de Noether Clássico e sua versão não- comutativa introduzida por J. Alev e F. Dumas em [AD06]. Discutiremos os principais casos co- nhecidos nos quais os problemas têm solução positiva, observando um forte paralelo entre os casos comutativo e não-comutativo. Cobriremos os tópicos preliminares necessários para entendimento dos enunciados: álgebras de Weyl, anéis de operadores diferenciais, extensões de Ore, localização em domínios não-comutativos, e corpos de Weyl. No Capítulo 5 deste trabalho, o aluno apresenta duas contribuições originais, obtidas em colaboração com seu orientador V. Futorny e F. Eshmatov: o Teorema 5.5, que é um resultado folclórico sobre invariantes de ações livres de grupos finitos no anel de operadores diferenciais de variedades afins; e o Teorema 5.6, que até onde sabemos é iné- dito, sobre invariantes dos Corpos de Weyl sob a ação de grupos de pseudo-reflexão. Todo material algébrico preliminar para a demonstração destes dois teoremas é incluído no texto da dissertação: um básico de teoria de invariantes, vários resultados da teoria de grupos de pseudo-reflexão, alguns conceitos básicos de geometria algébrica e álgebra comutativa, e uma discussão detalhada do quo- ciente de variedades afins sob ação de grupos finitos.

In this work we aim to introduce the Classical Noether´s Problem, and its noncommutative version introduced by J. Alev and F. Dumas in [AD06]. We discuss the most well known cases of positive solution of these problems, pointing out a strong similarity between the cases of positive solution for the classical and noncommutative versions of the Problem. We cover the preliminary topics to understand the statement and solutions of these problems: Weyl algebras, differential operators rings, Ore extensions, noncommutative localization, and Weyl Skew-Fields. In the Chapter 5 of this dissertation, the student shows two original contributions, obtained in collaboration with his advisor V. Futorny and F. Eshmatov: Theorem 5.5, a result belonging to the folklore of the area of differential operators, describing its invariants under the free action of a finite group on an affine variety; and Theorem 5.6, about the invariants of the Weyl skew-fields under the action of pseudo-reflection groups. As far as we know, this result is new. All preliminary algebraic facts to prove these two facts are included in the body of this text. It includes some basic facts on invariant theory, many results about pseudo-reflection groups, some basic concepts of algebraic geometry and commutative algebra, and a detailed discussion of the quotient of an affine variety under the action of a finite group.

▼ The following thesis details the creation of a shot for an animated production titled Gear Up. The process for creating this shot was patterned after professional animated productions and included the following steps: pre-visualization, story boarding, modeling and asset creation, UV layouts, texturing and surfacing, scene assembly and camera layout, character and prop rigging, character animation, lighting, rendering, and compositing. The motivation for this project was to create a product that artistically has a darker aesthetic than many previous Clemson DPA animations, but still enjoyed high quality visuals. One of the goals was to create a large-scale scene centered in a post apocalyptic robot war. This project also served as the ﬁrst opportunity for incorporating the rendering engine called Arnold into the Clemson DPA animation pipeline and artist workﬂow. In order to accomplish the goals set above, a series of technical and artistic problems needed to be solved. With the use of 3D preproduction prototyping, modular and procedural asset gen-eration, new content generation tools, and optimized workﬂows, the team was able to tackle all production challenges and create high quality content eﬃciently and with minimal stress to the artists. This thesis also delves into the elaborate process of scene lighting; detailing the artistic decisions and motivations that lead to the ﬁnal product. The lighting is created by examining references from ﬁlm and real life, lighting designs, and advanced lighting techniques. The results of the project was a 400 frame animation of a post apocalyptic city block featuring a detailed robot, armed for war, standing guard by his tank amidst piles of debris, barbed wire, and rubble. The shot was rendered entirely in Arnold apart from the FX elements, which was rendered using Houdini Mantra. It also represents a successful collaboration between several volunteer artists with various skills and time commitments. [pt] Esta tese busca relacionar mística cristã, que é o fundamento da própria teologia, e literatura fantástica compreendendo esta como lugar tanto da teologia como da experiência mística. Afirmamos, portanto, que a literatura fantástica constitui uma forma de expressão da mística cristã. O que há em comum entre as definições desses conceitos é a dimensão do mistério que ambos compartilham. Pois, por um lado, a mística nos lembra da inefabilidade divina, diante da qual toda expressão da linguagem, embora necessária à sistematização da fé, revela-se insuficiente, uma vez que a experiência de Deus ultrapassa os limites do conhecimento racional-lógico da realidade. Por outro lado, a literatura fantástica introduz no mundo cotidiano a dimensão do insólito, do fantástico, do maravilhoso que enriquece a própria vida. Ambas traduzem experiências que são inquietantes e fundamentais à vida humana. Estas experiências inquietantes estão intimamente vinculadas à dimensão teológica e mística da existência. Por isso, a literatura fantástica é capaz de transmitir experiências profundamente humanas, incluindo as experiências teológicas e místicas. A partir dessa relação, o objetivo é investigar a experiência pessoal e algumas obras ficcionais do escritor irlandês C. S. Lewis a fim de perceber como, seja em sua vida, seja em sua produção literária, Lewis aborda questões vinculadas à mística cristã e à teologia por meio do uso da literatura fantástica.

[en] This thesis seeks to relate Christian mystique, which is the foundation of theology itself, and fantastic literature comprising this as a place of both theology and mystical experience. We affirm, therefore, that the fantastic literature constitutes a form of expression of the Christian mystique. What is common in the definitions of these concepts is the dimension of the mystery they both share. For, on the one hand, mystique reminds us of the divine ineffability, in the face of which every expression of language, though necessary to the systematization of faith, is insufficient, since the experience of God goes beyond the limits of rational-logical knowledge reality. On the other hand, fantastic literature introduces into the everyday world the dimension of the unusual, the fantastic, the wonderful that enriches life itself. Both translate experiences that are disturbing and fundamental to human life. These disturbing experiences are intimately linked to the theological and mystical dimension of existence. That is why fantastic literature is able to convey profoundly human experiences, including theological and mystical experiences. From this relationship, the aim is to investigate the personal experience and some fictional works of the Irish writer C. S. Lewis in order to realize how, in his life or in his literary production, Lewis addresses issues related to Christian mystique and theology through the use of fantastic literature.

▼ La salubrité et la qualité des aliments en conserve dépendent toujours des paramètres appliqués lors de la stérilisation (le temps, les températures). L'application de températures élevées peut détériorer la qualité des produits et augmenter les coûts énergétiques associés au procédé de stérilisation. De plus, l’attente des consommateurs se dirige, de nos jours, vers des produits sains et frais, ce qui encourage les chercheurs à découvrir de nouvelles approches et techniques pour améliorer la conservation des aliments. Les technologies émergentes combinées à d'autres approches classiques ont démontré des résultats probants (effet barrière ou «hurdle effect ») quant à la préservation de produits non acidifiés. Récemment, des études sur l'électro-activation (EA) ont mis en évidence son fort potentiel antibactérien applicable pour une large gamme de produits alimentaires. En outre, cette technologie a été reconnue comme étant sécuritaire et peu coûteuse. Le but de ce projet était d'étudier l'EA comme une barrière efficace afin de préserver les qualités nutritionnelles des aliments tout en réduisant les barèmes de stérilisation et les coûts de production dans un respect total de la salubrité du produit. Le premier objectif était d'étudier les propriétés des solutions électro-activées (SEA) ainsi que la dynamique de leurs modifications en fonction de plusieurs paramètres comme la densité de courant appliqué au système, le temps d'excitation, le type de sels utilisés, la concentration en sel et les configurations du réacteur d’électro-activation. De plus, les paramètres optimaux comme le pH, le potentiel redox et la résistance électrique du système, qui est un indice d’efficacité énergétique, ont été déterminés pour la production des SEA à l'aide de la méthode de surface de réponse. Par la suite, les SEA optimisés ont été étudiés sur la corrosivité dans des boîtes de conserve en métal et les résultats obtenus ont montré que la SEA n'a aucun effet significatif sur l'oxydation des contenants de maïs en conserve. Le deuxième objectif a permis de mettre en évidence l'activité sporicide des SEA. En effet, l’étude a montré que les SEA ont une forte capacité d'inhibition de la croissance des spores de Clostridium sporogenes et de Geobacillus stearothermophilus. La combinaison de traitements modérés (T ≤ 100 °C) avec différentes SEA dans la purée de légumes a entraîné une destruction importante ou totale des spores de C. sporogenes. Une diminution considérable de la résistance à la chaleur de G. stearothermophilus a été également observée. Un effet synergique d’une grande efficacité a été obtenu lorsque la SEA a été utilisée en combinaison avec un traitement thermique lors de la stérilisation. Sur le plan pratique, cela résulte en une modification significative des barèmes de stérilisation en utilisant des températures modérées. Le troisième objectif consistait à étudier l'effet combiné des SEA et de la stérilisation à des températures modérées sur la qualité des conserves. L'obésité et les maladies métaboliques telles que le diabète de type 2 sont associées à une inflammation chronique de faible intensité. Plusieurs études ont démontré qu’un régime riche en gras induit une modification de la composition du microbiote intestinal ainsi qu'une augmentation de la concentration en lipopolysacharides (LPS) dans la circulation sanguine. Ces LPS sont considérés comme étant le facteur déclencheur d'une inflammation chronique induisant un ensemble de désordres métaboliques. Selon des études récentes, les probiotiques contribueraient à la prévention de ces maladies métaboliques en réduisant l'inflammation provoquée par les LPS. Toutefois, ce processus inflammatoire est complexe et seules quelques pistes sont évoquées à ce jour. Ce mémoire a pour but 1) d'identifier et de caractériser de nouvelles souches probiotiques appartenant aux genres Lactobacillus, Propionibacterium et Bifidobacterium isolées à partir du fromage, du lait cru et de fèces de bébé et d'adultes et 2) d'étudier in vitro l'activité anti-inflammatoire des bactéries tuées par la chaleur et du surnageant de culture de chacune de ces souches en utilisant le modèle de macrophage murin J774.1. L'effet anti-inflammatoire de ces extraits bactériens a été évalué en mesurant la production d'oxide nitrique (NO) et des cytokines pro-inflammatoires (TNF-α et IL-6) et anti-inflammatoire (IL-10) en absence et en présence de LPS d'Escherichia coli serotype O55:B5. Parmi les cinquante-deux souches testées, trois souches de Lactobacillus, deux souches de Bifidobacterium et une souche de Propionibacterium ont démontré des effets anti-inflammatoires en réduisant la production de NO et d'IL-6 et en stimulant la production d'IL-10 en condition basale et en présence de LPS. Ces souches feront prochainement l’objet d’une étude in vivo chez des souris obèses insulino-résistantes pour confirmer leurs profils anti-inflammatoires.

Obesity and related metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes are associated with chronic low-grade inflammation. Several studies have shown that a high-fat diet induces a change in the composition of the intestinal microbiota and an increase in lipopolysaccharides (LPS) serum levels. LPS are considered as the trigger for chronic inflammation inducing a set of metabolic disorders. According to recent studies, probiotics contribute to the prevention of metabolic diseases by reducing inflammation caused by LPS. However, the inflammatory process is complex and only a few tracks are discussed. This study aims to 1) identify and characterize new probiotic strains of Lactobacillus, Propionibacterium and Bifidobacterium isolated from cheese, raw milk and feces of infants and adults and 2) to study in vitro the anti-inflammatory activity of heat-killed bacteria and the conditioned media of each of these strains using the murine macrophage cell line J774.1. Les résidus fibreux de canneberge et de bleuet issus du processus d’extraction des polyphénols ont été étudiés pour tenter de les valoriser pour des applications nutraceutiques. Ces travaux se sont plus précisément intéressés aux fibres alimentaires et à leurs polyphénols associés. Ces deux composantes sont reconnues pour leurs effets positifs sur le système digestif dont notamment le maintien de la santé de la flore intestinale. Les résidus fibreux de canneberge et de bleuet obtenus en laboratoire ont été caractérisés pour leurs contenus en polysaccharides non-amidonnés totaux (54,3% pour la canneberge et 46,5% pour le bleuet), solubles (respectivement 21,9% et 21,5%), insolubles (respectivement 32,4% et 25%) et leurs compositions respectives en monosaccharides. Les mesures rhéologiques des fibres (capacité de rétention d’eau, d’huile, capacité de gonflement et viscosité) ont montré des propriétés physiques avantageuses en comparaison à d’autres types de fibres. Le contenu en proanthocyanidines non-extractibles fut alors mesuré par lecture spectrophotométrique (1,3% pour les fibres de canneberge et 2,4% pour celles de bleuet). Une technique utilisant un agent chaotrope fut spécifiquement développée pour obtenir une fraction significativement réduite en polyphénols (contenant respectivement 0,6% et 0,9% de proanthocyanidines). Les fibres brutes et réduites en polyphénols ont alors été administrées à des souris pour tester leurs impacts respectifs sur la flore intestinale. L’ajout de fibres brutes a fait augmenter la concentration de Clostridium coccoides et de Clostridium leptum et diminuer le compte de Lactobacillus alors que celui de Faecalibacterium praunsnitzii a uniquement augmenté avec les fibres réduites en polyphénols mettant en avant un probable effet inhibiteur des polyphénols sur F. prausnitzii. Des souches probiotiques ont alors été cultivées in vitro avec des fibres natives et réduites en proanthocyanidines. Un effet bifidogène ainsi qu’une augmentation de la croissance de Lactobacillus salivarius ont été observés lors de l’ajout de fibres de canneberge et de bleuet. Selon le type de bactérie, les effets différentiels observés avec les fibres brutes ou réduites en proanthocyanidines montrent la capacité de la flore à métaboliser les polysaccharides et leurs polyphénols associés mais aussi un potentiel effet inhibiteur des composés phénoliques. Les fibres de canneberge et de bleuet pourraient ainsi constituer des prébiotiques favorisant indirectement la réduction du risque lié à certaines maladies chroniques intestinales.

▼ Les études sur le baryum sont peu nombreuses dans le domaine de l'agriculture. C'est pour cela que notre intérêt se porte sur le fractionnement des formes du baryum dans certains sols du Québec. Il n' y a en effet aucune étude qui rapporte les formes fractionnées. Cette étude peut aller d'une simple accumulation de données de base sur les différentes fractions obtenues après analyse au laboratoire à un objectif plus précis de l'effet des différentes fractions du baryum sur les végétaux et à leur contribution dans la nutrition végétale ainsi que de leur interaction possible avec d'autres éléments nutritifs. Cette étude est réalisée dans le but de contribuer à une meilleure connaissance du statut du baryum dans quelques sols du Québec ainsi que de constituer une référence pouvant servir à des recherches futures. Les quantités de baryum extraites par l' eau, le NH40AC 1 N et neutre, le HN03 lM bouillant et par fusion au métaborate de lithium LiB02 donneront les formes solubles, échangeables, fixées et minérales ou structurelles. Les formes du baryum dans les sols minéraux étudiés sont classées par ordre d'importance croissant comme suit : baryum soluble dans l'eau < baryum échangeable < baryum fixé < baryum minéral (Ba structural) dans des proportions de 0,02 à 0,12 % pour le baryum soluble, de 0,98 à 5,92 % pour le baryum échangeable, de 2,51 à 6,80 % pour le baryum fixé, et de 87,58 à 96,50 % pour le baryum minéral. Des différences existent entre les sols sablonneux et argileux allant de 754,84 mg/kg de Ba pour les sols argileux à 606,49 mg/kg de Ba pour les sols sablonneux. Cette même différence dans la distribution existe également avec la profondeur. Une variation de concentration du baryum en fonction de la texture pour les différents horizons est observée. Le contenu total en baryum des horizons A, B, et C est respectivement de 703,2 mg/kg de Ba, 754,84 mg/kg de Ba et 682,60 mg/kg de Ba pour les sols argileux, et de 634,07 mg/kg de Ba, 606,49 mg/kg de Ba et 655,08 mg/kg de Ba pour les sols sablonneux, ce qui confirme que les sols argileux contiennent plus de baryum que les sols sablonneux. Dans un contexte évolutif où les changements climatiques entraîneront une augmentation du nombre d’événements climatiques extrêmes, la gestion de l’eau devra être optimisée afin d’éviter l’impact des stress environnementaux sur le rendement agronomique des cultures. Bien que les seuils où surviennent ces stress soient connus pour la majorité des espèces agricoles, ils demeurent pour la plupart inconnus pour la canneberge. Leur détermination est donc un prérequis à l’établissement d’une gestion de l’eau efficace et durable. Conséquemment, des expérimentations au champ et en cabinet de croissance ont été réalisées afin d’étudier l’impact des principaux stress abiotiques sur la canneberge et de proposer des stratégies innovatrices menant à une approche intégrée de la gestion de l’eau dans cette culture. En maintenant la nappe phréatique à une profondeur de 60 cm sous la surface du sol, les rendements ont été maximisés et l’application d’eau par aspersion a été minimisée. Cependant, les canneberges sont très sensibles aux problèmes de drainage. En effet, lors de deux études de cas, une diminution de rendement de 25 à 39% a été mesurée lorsque le système de drainage n’était pas entièrement fonctionnel. Puisque contrôler la nappe peut ralentir le drainage et entraîner une diminution de l’aération dans la rhizosphère suite à une précipitation, une expérience en cabinet de croissance a été réalisée afin de déterminer la tolérance de la canneberge aux conditions hypoxiques. Les résultats ont démontré une diminution de 28% de la photosynthèse après 24 heures en conditions saturées. Le système de drainage doit donc permettre d’évacuer rapidement les surplus d’eau afin d’éviter de telles conditions. Avec le contrôle de nappe, l’air entourant le feuillage est plus chaud et plus sec en comparaison avec l’irrigation par aspersion, ce qui peut entraîner davantage d’épisodes de stress thermique. Une expérimentation en cabinet de croissance a permis d’identifier qu’en comparaison à une température optimale de 29 °C, la photosynthèse diminue de 11% à 33 °C et de 22% à 37 °C. Refroidir le feuillage pendant 20 minutes lorsque la température y atteint 33 °C s’est alors avéré bénéfique pour éviter le stress thermique. En intégrant ces nouveaux paramètres de gestion de l’eau, les producteurs de canneberges pourront maximiser le rendement agronomique de leur culture et en réduire son impact environnemental.

Les sols organiques cultivés sont reconnus pour leur excellente qualité agricole. Cependant, la nature des matériaux les constituant et les processus physico-chimiques et mécaniques liés à leur mise en valeur agricole les rendent exposés aux problèmes de drainage. Généralement, la formation de couches compactes qui stratifient le profil de sol limite progressivement l’infiltration de l’eau dans le sol et favorise la formation de nappes perchées à la surface du sol. Ces manifestations sont en grande partie néfastes pour les cultures ne tolérant pas que leur système racinaire soit inondé au-delà de 48 heures. Le but de cette étude a été : (1) de décrire le mouvement de l’eau dans le sol au cours de deux événements de drainage et de caractériser ses principales propriétés hydrauliques ; (2) de caractériser le niveau de compaction des profils non perturbés et (3) de déterminer la réponse de la mise en place d’une technique de perturbation mécanique en rapport avec l’amélioration du drainage. Les principaux résultats indiquent que le modèle hydraulique de van Genuchten décrit efficacement l’écoulement de l’eau et les propriétés hydrauliques du sol. Ils démontrent que les profils non perturbés se compactent et deviennent problématiques pour le drainage à partir de 30 centimètres de profondeur. Ils démontrent également que la perturbation du profil au-dessus des drains permet d’améliorer la perméabilité des zones critiques du sol et l’infiltration de l’eau à travers celles-ci. La mise en place d’un profil perturbé sur les drains permet d’améliorer significativement le drainage en comparaison avec un profil non perturbé et réduit considérablement le temps de ressuyage. Ces résultats peuvent servir à la caractérisation des sols organiques cultivés et à la détermination des zones critiques des profils à intervenir pour améliorer l’infiltration de l’eau, l’enracinement de certaines cultures, etc.

Cultivated organic soils are recognized for their excellent agricultural quality. However, the nature of their constitutive materials and physicochemical and mechanical processes associated with their agricultural development make them be susceptible to surface drainage problems over time. Usually, the compacted layers formation which contributes to the stratification of the soil profile gradually limits the soil water infiltration and tend to the formation of perched water table near the soil surface. These observations associated with drainage problems have largely negative impacts on crops which do not tolerate their root system being flooded beyond 48 hours. The purpose of this study was: (1) to describe the soil water movement during two soil drainage events and characterize its main soil hydraulic properties; (2) to characterize the undisturbed cultivated organic soil profile compaction level and (3) to determine the effects of a mechanical soil disturbance techniques in relation to the soil surface drainage improvement. [pt] Assumindo uma perspectiva interacionista do desenvolvimento, acredita-se que no processo de aquisição e desenvolvimento da linguagem, biologia, natureza e cultura não podem ser consideradas como elementos separados dentro do desenvolvimento humano. Sendo assim, pressupõe-se que o contato com membros da sua comunidade linguística e, principalmente, a figura materna, são de fundamental importância para o desenvolvimento da linguagem infantil. O presente estudo longitudinal buscou investigar, a partir de aspectos sintáticos e semânticos, qual o papel da fala materna nesse processo. Para isso, participaram quatro díades mãe-bebê – uma menina e três meninos – que foram filmados uma vez por semana, durante quarenta minutos. A fala materna foi transcrita e analisada, bem como o desenvolvimento da linguagem do bebê, que foi medido através do MacArthur Inventary of Communicative Abilities (Inventário do desenvolvimento de habilidades comunicativas). Com os resultados, foram observadas algumas semelhanças e distinções entre as díades. Houve o predomínio de emissões maternas afirmativas para as quatro díades estudadas. As emissões negativas foram as que menos apareceram na fala materna. Sobre os aspectos semânticos, identificou-se o predomínio da fala materna relacionada ao contexto, seguida pela fala relacionada à criança e, por último, a fala relacionada à díade, em todas as díades observadas. Ademais, houve um aumento significativo no número de palavras produzidas pelas crianças participantes ao longo dos seis meses. Acredita-se que esse estudo possa colaborar e acrescentar na literatura referente ao desenvolvimento da linguagem infantil e, principalmente, contribuir com dados do contexto brasileiro sobre o papel da fala materna nesse processo.

[en] Assuming an interactionist perspective of development, it is believed that in the process of acquisition and development of language, biology, nature and culture can not be considered as separate elements within human development. Thus, it is assumed that the contact with members of their linguistic community and, especially, the maternal figure, are of fundamental importance for the development of children s language. The present longitudinal study sought to investigate, from syntactic and semantic aspects, the role of maternal speech in this process. For this, four mother-baby dyads - one girl and three boys - were filmed once a week for forty minutes. The maternal speech was transcribed and analyzed, as well as the development of the baby s language, which was measured through the MacArthur Inventary of Communicative Abilities. With the results, some similarities and distinctions between the dyads were observed. There was a predominance of affirmative maternal emissions for the four dyads studied. Negative emissions were the ones that least appeared in maternal speech. On the semantic aspects, we identified the predominance of maternal speech related to the context, followed by speech related to the child and, finally, the speech related to the dyad, in all the dyads…

[pt] A Doença de Parkinson (DP) é caracterizada pela ocorrência de sintomas motores. No entanto, sintomas não motores, como depressão e comprometimento cognitivo, são comuns e não devem ser ignorados. A presente dissertação investigou a frequência dos sintomas depressivos e seus efeitos na cognição de indivíduos com DP com declínio cognitivo leve (DCL). Foram avaliados 48 sujeitos com DP e 44 controles (GC), com idade entre 50 e 80 anos e escolaridade superior a 4 anos, todos com DCL e sem diagnóstico de depressão. Os participantes foram submetidos à avaliação clínica com neurologista, seguida de avaliação neuropsicológica. Os sintomas depressivos foram mensurados com o uso do Inventário de Depressão de Beck. Dificuldade no trabalho, fadiga e distúrbio do sono foram sintomas mais frequentes no grupo DP, enquanto o grupo sem DP apresentou além de distúrbios do sono, sintomas de irritabilidade e diminuição da libido. A presença destes sintomas mostrou-se associada a prejuízo da atenção combinado a déficit de memória episódica, especialmente em tarefas de reconhecimento de novas informações verbais. Os sintomas depressivos prevalentes nos Parkinsonianos com DCL podem ser atribuídos à DP, dificultando o diagnóstico diferencial entre essas condições.

[en] Parkinson s Disease (PD) is characterized by the occurrence of motor symptoms. However, non motor symptoms such as depression and cognitive impairment are common and should not be ignored. This thesis investigated the frequency of depressive symptoms and their effect on cognition in individuals with PD with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Forty eight subjects with PD and 44 controls (CG), aged between 50 and 80 years and higher education to four years, all with MCI and undiagnosed depression were studied. The participants underwent clinical evaluation with a neurologist, followed by neuropsychological assessment. Depressive symptoms were measured using the Beck Depression Inventory. Difficulty in work, fatigue and sleep disorders were more frequent symptoms in PD group, whereas the group without PD presented beyond sleep disorders, symptoms of irritability, and decreased libido. The presence of these symptoms was found to be associated with loss of attention combined to episodic memory deficits, especially in recognition tasks of new verbal information. The prevalent depressive symptoms in parkinsonians with MCI can be attributed to PD, complicating the differential diagnosis between these conditions.
