▼ Herein I investigate the nature and emergence of social representations of shale gas development (often called "fracking"). Social representations are common sense understandings of complex, novel phenomena generated in the public sphere via communal discourse. I triangulate between results from (1) a content analysis of regional newspaper coverage, (2) in-depth interviews, (3) field visits to communities discussing and engaged in development, and (4) a survey of residents in areas experiencing development and/or heightened discourse about potential development. My results reveal that these representations: (1) are limited in scope, (2) often relate to difficult to quantify social effects of development that are value-based, (3) are ethically-derived, (4) are historically-, culturally-, and socially-dependent, and (5) predict (rather than derive from) beliefs about effects of development. The grounding of key representations in values and ethical considerations intimates a very different public understanding of this issue than one in which representations are based primarily on potential economic and environmental effects of shale gas development, such as job creation and water contamination. The limited scope of representations highlights an expansive range of topics that are neglected in discourse on shale gas development. The causal primacy of summary views of development over beliefs about effects of development is this dissertation's most striking finding. Contrary to much empirical research on public perceptions of development and theoretical background applied to understanding these perceptions, both the data herein and social representations theory support valenced positions on shale gas development leading to beliefs about likelihood of impacts of development occurring, and to beliefs about the effects of those impacts on quality of life. This connotes substantial challenges for communicating about shale gas development in a way that affects summary views on this issue; likewise it portends further obstacles to alighting on policies/regulation of development that the public will broadly accept. I discuss the implications of all the aforementioned findings for communication about and policy on shale gas development. Finally, I reflect on the value of social representations theory for studying social psychology of energy development and offer recommendations for further improving the methodological rigor of social representations research. ▼ In this study Finnish history teacher's conceptions and experiences on national history teaching are explored. As representatives of educational institution, teachers are situated in intersection point of official history curriculum, academic research, family histories and common sense understandings of history. Another point of this study is to find out what kind of mainstream narrative of national history is mediated at schools which are its focal elements and what is possibly excluded. Which possibly sensitive or controversial elements are present in history teaching are also studied. Theoretical background of this study can be divided in two parts. First part consists of social psychological approaches to studying history-related issues, especially Serge Moscovici's Social Representations Theory. The theory explores how common sense knowledge is constructed in social interaction. The second part consists of previous studies on history science and history didactics. Turning points in Finnish history and previous studies on national collective memory are introduced. Also different approaches to history teaching and how Finnish school history is in relation to them is discussed. The empirical part of this study consists of Finnish history teachers' individual interviews (N=11). Participants are teachers both at high school and upper comprehensive level schools mostly situated in Helsinki capital region. They have varying experience in teaching history and other subjects. The interview scheme consists of both open questions and statements. All interviews were conducted in Finnish, recorded and transcribed. The analysis of the interview data is based on Charmaz' (2006) version of Grounded theory. Main results of the study show that teachers' representations of history teaching are mostly 'enlightened' and 'skill-oriented' which are in line with official curriculum. More 'traditional' or 'romantic' representations of school history were present, although marginal in this sample. The values and aims that guide teachers' work are manifested in seven different roles that were found in this study: 'initiator of interest in history', 'creator of historical understanding', 'developer of critical thinking', 'mediator of scientific knowledge, facts and truth', 'mediator of values and attitudes', 'civic educator' and 'independent actor'. History is seen as educational and challenging subject which ought to develop student's ability to critical thinking, multiperspectivity, tolerance and overall understanding of the world. Main history narrative found in this study consists of eight hegemonic representations. This narrative is named as 'Coming-of-age-story' or 'Cinderella story' The cores of history representations form a combination of elements on which national history curriculum could be based: birth, development, unity, heroism, victimhood, balancing and belonging. ▼ The purpose of this study was to examine children’s mental images of music and musical engagements through free responses to linguistic stimuli. Participants were primary students aged 8 to 11 (N = 132) enrolled in Miami-Dade public schools. For identifying context-related differences, schools were chosen by using purposive sampling based on previous demographic information. Free responses to linguistic stimuli (music, music and me, music at school, and music outside school) and participants’ demographic and socio-cultural data were processed by the software SPAD. Correspondences Analysis was used to reconstruct representational fields associated to the stimuli. For each stimulus, a three-factor extraction identified hidden dimensions in children’s linguistic responses and summarized the links between contextual variables and children’s representations. Insights into children’s conceptualizations of music and musical engagements helped construct a narrative of their musical worlds in terms of definitions of music, practices, meanings and evaluations of musical experiences. Beyond highlighting dimensions in children’s representations of music and musical engagements, Correspondences Analysis demonstrated that children’s musical thinking was affected by complex interactions between demographic and socio-cultural variables. Age, ethnicity and school significantly differentiated children’s social representations in terms of musical preferences, evaluations, definitions, and experiences. Gender-related differences were marginally found for the stimulus music and me. Parents' musical involvement influenced children’s responses in correspondence of the category high. Finally, no significant differences were found in relation to SES (parents' educational level and employment status). Major findings suggested that (a) children at increasingly younger ages express preferences and construct their own representations of music and musical selves, and (b) although ethnicity differentiates children’s musical thinking, some musics have created identifiable groups across ethnic boundaries. ▼ The aim of this thesis is the monographic approach of social representations of management in the context of historiography, in order to demonstrate the emergence, stabilization and transformations of representations before the scientific management as well as after that. The phase of emergence will lead us to ancient times while the transformations up to modern times. These conformational transitions will highlight the contribution of the administrative phenomenon in the organization of society and production units, administrative phenomenon in the organization of society and production units, as well as they will illustrate the most epistemological approaches that influenced and still do to the formation and management of social representations of the above mentioned object.The epistemological and methodological notes concerning the management as a research project are being included in the introductory chapter together with a general definition in the first chapter.The first chapter has a purely introductory nature in social psychology, especially in science concerning the social representations.In the second chapter there is an approach of pre-management phenomenon in a historical pre-bureaucratic background and of social changes that have contributed to its emergence with the occupation of wheat cultivation, the emergence of justice in the Minoan period, which are being associated socially and historically and they are moving towards to social maturation and stabilization in the classical period. In the late archaic period it mutates democratically into administration, and consistently to be weakened by the weakening of democracy and ecclesiastical thought of West in Middle Ages, to ΄΄dioceses΄΄ and be reborn during the Renaissance Period until the end of the “ancient regime”.In the third chapter it was searched and recovered for first time all the Prose regarding the phenomenon of management throughout the corpus of texts of ancient Greek literature up to 1453, in order to confirm the emergence process, the stabilization and mutation in democratic term imbued with universal and sustainable power and it dismissed the particularity of the managerialistic possibility. The house in the ancient sense will be the key element of the central core of the representation while the ethical and gnosiology concepts outweigh in contrast to the managerialistic concepts which are in disadvantage. The implications of these concepts will thicken as the elements of the representation region in the continuous process of the organization, in a contrarian dipole between the “pleasantly living” and “unpleasantly living” or in that of the universal reality and utopia. ▼ Over the last few decades increasing rates of single mother households in the United States have triggered a national alarm over the effects of father absence on society. Father absence has been linked specifically to many of the problems plaguing black communities in the United States (e.g. poverty, low educational attainment, etc.) and as a result community and political leaders alike have consistently promoted responsible fatherhood practices as a way to address them. Although responsible fatherhood has received, in this context, a considerable amount of social attention, this attention has come intertwined with considerable political and moral rhetoric at all levels, making an idea invested with a wide variety of often-conflicting meanings and interests. Given the paucity of academic studies giving voice to black fathers at the metaphoric "front line" of the national responsible fatherhood effort, this author used a variation of The Listening Guide (Gilligan 2003) to capture the narratives of four black fathers volunteering in a local responsible fatherhood program. Critical Social Representations Theory was used to frame the interaction between participants and the social contexts within which they are embedded, paying particular attention to participants' positioning in regard to social representations of race and gender. The widely different understandings of fatherhood present within the results point to fatherhood as a highly dynamic concept. Responsibility, on the other hand, was understood primarily as father presence, a middle class ideal that I argue is problematic given the realities of poor black fathers. Finally, all fathers tended to resist ideas of race as essence, even if in regard to gender all fathers adopted hegemonic positions endorsing views of gender difference as essential and as grounded in biology. Overall, results reveal complex portrayals of black fathers and their lives in communities where race, poverty, incarceration, drugs, violence, or family court all pose additional challenges to responsible fatherhood. ▼ Depuis la fin des années 1990, on constate l’émergence de nombreux projets d’aménagement visant à revaloriser les rives de fleuves en ville. Cette tendance s’inscrit dans un questionnement plus général sur la place de la nature en ville à une époque où la notion d'espaces naturels multifonctionnels remplace petit à petit celle d'espaces verts. En se basant sur l’exemple du Rhône et des villes de Genève et de Sierre, cette thèse analyse le processus de revalorisations des espaces fluviaux urbains en partant du principe qu’il s’explique par une transformation historique générale du statut de la « nature fluviale » dans les milieux urbains et qu’il résulte de l’interaction entre des conditions naturelles spécifiques et le jeu des acteurs urbains impliqués dans les projets d’aménagement. En s’appuyant sur un riche corpus iconographique et documentaire, la recherche montre comment le statut de la nature, et plus spécifiquement de l’eau, en ville a évolué au fil du temps et comment ces transformations influencent les projets actuels d’aménagement. En outre, la recherche met en évidence l’importance du contexte local dans l’émergence de ce processus. Elle montre que la politique de l’eau suisse et la gestion intégrée des différents secteurs de l’eau se superposent aux enjeux locaux. À l’échelle communale, la prise en compte d’usages multiples et parfois contradictoires de l’espace fluvial conduit à l’élaboration d’aménagements centrés sur la valorisation du fleuve comme espace public structurant pour la ville dans laquelle ils s’inscrivent. Les résultats indiquent que ces projets de revalorisation des rives de fleuve sont le fruit d’une « traduction urbaine » du principe de renaturation à l’échelle communale. L’analyse du discours des acteurs permet d’identifier une circulation des régimes urbains de la nature et indique que le statut donné au fleuve aujourd’hui est représentatif d’une nouvelle façon de concevoir la nature urbaine ; une nature sociale qui s’intègre à la ville. Cette double perspective, historique et contemporaine, permet de montrer que les spécificités locales et l’évolution des représentations de l’espace fluvial sont décisives dans la réalisation de projet de valorisation de rives de fleuve. ▼ W latach osiemdziesiątych XX w. kibuce w Izraelu znalazły się w poważnym kryzysie zarówno pod względem ekonomicznym jak i demograficznym, który zagroził utrzymaniem tych wspólnotowych kooperatyw. Niemożność rozwiązania kryzysu ruchu kibucowego w oparciu o dotychczasowe doświadczenia, doprowadziła do otwarcia się kooperatyw na rozwiązania, które można było zaadoptować z gospodarki rynkowej. Efektywność mierzona poprzez reguły wolnorynkowe oraz komercjalizacja zaczęły mieć wpływ na zmianę modelu wyborczych zachować mieszkańców kibuców w wyborach do Knesetu. Celem pracy jest ukazanie zmieniającej się tożsamości politycznej, a co za tym idzie, preferencji wyborczych mieszkańców kibuców. Należy podkreślić, że nowe reguły funkcjonowania kibuców wpłynęły na zmianę określenia jednostki w kategoriach społecznych i politycznych. Dawna, zbiorowa społeczna reprezentacja kibuca, która miała tak wyjątkowy charakter, została osłabiona na rzecz tworzącego się systemu wartości, w którym jednostka znajduje się w centrum. Skutkiem ubocznym tego procesu jest wypieranie lewicowych ugrupowań przez partie centrowe, jako bardziej odpowiadające społecznej tożsamości mieszkańców kibuców. Aby zobrazować zachodzące zmiany w politycznej tożsamości, zostały wybrane trzy kibuce znajdujące się w różnych stadium przemian społeczno-gospodarczym. Badania ankietowe zostały przeprowadzone w Kibbutz Deganya A, Kibbutz Mizra i Kibbutz Ein Dor. Przedmiotem badań było nie tylko wskazanie grupy w kibucu i zidentyfikowanie zmiany tożsamości politycznej, ale przede wszystkim zbadanie w jaki sposób można ją ukazać za pomocą nowej wiedzy społecznej. Teoretyczne rozważania opierają się modelu społecznej reprezentacji (Moscovici, 1984), w którym kładzie się nacisk na społeczną wiedzę jako źródło zachowania jednostki. Innowacyjną metodą zaproponowaną w badaniach jest możliwość wyjaśnienia społecznych koncepcji wynikających z określonej tożsamości politycznej i w ten sposób wypływającej na preferencje wyborcze jednostki. Dodatkowo rezultatem badań jest wskazanie na sporą różnicę w percepcji rzeczywistości społecznej i politycznej pomiędzy dwiema grupami wiekowymi. W przeciwieństwie do starszej generacji, młodsi reprezentanci kibuców opowiadają się neoliberalnym modelem społecznej reprezentacji i w ten sposób określają siebie i polityczny system. Esta pesquisa investiga o modo como a mídia impressa, no Rio Grande do Sul, retrata os usuários de drogas, tentando compreender quem é este usuário para os jornais e por que o mostram de maneiras específicas. Discute o tema da mídia e do uso de drogas, com base na teoria das Representações Sociais (Moscovici, 1961). Procura identificar e analisar que tipo de representações sociais a mídia produz sobre o usuário e que questões ideológicas estão atravessadas por esta produção jornalística, considerando que o tema das drogas, como o uso de crack, por exemplo, tem ganhado destaque nos jornais, televisão e internet. A metodologia envolveu a análise de conteúdo, conforme apresentada por Bauer e Gaskell (2010), das reportagens de dois jornais de grande circulação no Rio Grande do Sul: Correio do Povo e Zero Hora. Para a interpretação dos dados foi empregado o referencial metodológico da Hermenêutica de Profundidade (Thompson, 2009), que considera os contextos sócio-históricos e espaço-temporais que situam o fenômeno, podendo também realizar análises de discurso e de aspectos ideológicos presentes no fenômeno social midiático. Os achados demonstram o destaque dado pela mídia às consequências danosas não apenas ao usuário, mas para a sociedade como um todo, privilegiando a periculosidade, a improdutividade, a insanidade, a irreversibilidade, o individualismo e a heterogeneidade como representações sociais ligadas a esses sujeitos. Podem ser apontadas estratégias ideológicas como a legitimação, a fragmentação, a reificação e a dissimulação. Nota-se a necessidade de ampliação dos estudos sobre essa realidade que envolve a área da saúde mental, além da necessidade de atentar para a produção da mídia.

This research investigates how the print media, in Rio Grande do Sul, portrays drug users, trying to understand who this user is for the media and why it is shown in specific ways. Discusses the media and drug use based on the Theory of Social Representations (Moscovici, 1961). Seeks to identify and analyze what kind of social representations are produced by the media about the user and ideological issues that are crossed by this journalistic production, considering that the subject of drugs, such as crack use, for example, has gained prominence in the newspapers, television and internet. The methodology involved a content analysis, as presented by Bauer and Gaskell (2010), of the reports of two major newspapers in Rio Grande do Sul: Correio do Povo and Zero Hora. For the interpretation of the data the methodological framework of Depth Hermeneutics (Thompson, 2009) is used, which considers the socio-historical context which situates the phenomenon, and can also perform analysis of discourse and ideological aspects present in the social media phenomenon. The findings demonstrate the emphasis given by the media to damaging consequences not only to the user but to society as a whole, emphasizing the danger, the unproductive, insanity, irreversibility, individualism and heterogeneity as social representations linked to the user.…

▼ Nas últimas décadas diversos produtos oriundos do desenvolvimento científico têm se tornado cada vez mais presentes na vida das pessoas e em razão disso os estudantes, atualmente, têm seu acesso à informação facilitado. No entanto, o contexto escolar é visivelmente menos afetado que o restante da sociedade pelos recentes avanços tecnológicos. O modelo de escola atual brasileiro em pouco difere do modelo de escola de décadas atrás. Por outro lado, não é difícil perceber que a instituição que poderíamos nomear educação básica, de modo geral, assume um papel importante nesta mesma sociedade em relação à qual se vê descontextualizada. Neste trabalho foi investigado como o conhecimento sobre Astronomia se estabelece dentro da sociedade, supondo que diferentes grupos sociais apresentariam diferentes representações de conhecimentos relacionados tanto com Astronomia quanto com qualquer outro assunto científico. A teoria das Representações Sociais é tomada como marco teórico para uma investigação acerca desta temática, procurando estabelecer como o conhecimento de Astronomia é influenciado pelo contexto social dos indivíduos. Uma Representação Social é construída essencialmente por influência do meio social em que os sujeitos se encontram inseridos, na tentativa de transformar algo desconhecido em familiar e, nesse sentido, destaca-se o papel da mídia na abordagem de conceitos emprestados da Ciência, exercendo pressão para que os indivíduos cristalizem representações sobre tais conceitos. As representações sociais de um determinado assunto podem não ser consonantes com os conhecimentos cientificamente aceitos, pertencendo apenas ao universo consensual. Nesse sentido, foi conduzido um estudo piloto sobre Representações Sociais em um grupo de estudantes do 6º ano do Ensino Fundamental do interior de um município da região metropolitana de uma capital brasileira, utilizando-se a técnica dos mapas mentais. Adicionalmente foi desenvolvida e aplicada com os estudantes, que tinham entre 11 e 12 anos, uma estratégia didática com duração de 8 horas-aula que se apropriou de pressupostos da teoria da Aprendizagem Significativa e que tencionava permitir a aproximação das possíveis representações sociais em Astronomia apresentadas pelos estudantes daquelas aceitas pela comunidade científica e, acima de tudo, formalizando um contato científico com a Astronomia. Verificou-se que apesar de pertencerem a um grupo social relativamente bem delimitado, os estudantes apresentam poucas regularidades no que diz respeito às relações que estabelecem entre conceitos da Astronomia e outros termos. Somada à tentativa de identificação das Representações Sociais e à atividade intervencionista foram conduzidos testes de evocação de palavras com os pais dos estudantes tencionando estudar a relação entre as ideias evidenciadas pelos estudantes e seu convívio social. ▼ Atualmente o tabagismo é considerado pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) como um fator de risco à vida a ser combatido com alta prioridade. No entanto, um processo maciço de propaganda e marketing parece ter sido historicamente decisivo para dar à prática de fumar uma representação positiva, através de uma associação sistemática entre o consumo de derivados do tabaco e o ideal de auto-imagem, como beleza, sucesso, saúde e liberdade. Essa transformação da imagem do cigarro de símbolo de status e saúde para uma séria doença a ser combatida evidencia a importância de analisar o tabagismo como um fenômeno psicossocial. O objetivo geral desta investigação consiste, portanto, em analisar comparativamente as representações sociais acerca do tabagismo construídas por grupos de indivíduos que se incluam diferencialmente nas condições de fumantes, ex-fumantes e não-fumantes. A pesquisa foi realizada com uma amostra de 500 (quinhentos) participantes residentes no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, de ambos os sexos, podendo pertencer às categorias de fumantes, ex-fumantes e não-fumantes. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio eletrônico, através da aplicação de um questionário, que em parte focaliza os dados sóciodemográficos dos participantes e, em outra, apresenta questões abertas e fechadas, incorporando ainda uma tarefa de evocação livre ante o termo indutor tabagismo ou prática de fumar. Os resultados da análise estrutural da representação social do tabagismo possibilitou verificar uma unanimidade quanto à significação controversa que é atribuída a ele. De um lado, verificam-se dimensões negativas desta prática, que são objetivadas pelas implicações e repercussões na saúde dos fumantes ativos e passivos e, por outro lado, existem as dimensões positivas, que representam as funções sociais do tabagismo, e as sensações prazerosas que ele provoca nos fumantes. Observa-se o processo de construção de uma nova representação social do tabagismo, onde é estabelecida uma conexão entre uma velha representação do tabagismo enquanto hábito de vida, estilo de vida, com uma nova representação, o tabagismo como vício/dependência, criando novos significados e imagens do objeto. Para concluir, vale ressaltar que as representações sociais dos ex-fumantes e dos não-fumantes mostraram-se bastantes próximas, ressaltando essencialmente os aspectos negativos do tabagismo, enquanto que a dos fumantes diferenciam-se um pouco ao apresentar elementos como prazer. Mas de modo geral, as representações não mostraram-se tão distintas, revelando que os próprios fumantes vivenciam uma relação muito antagônica com o tabagismo, manifestando em diversos momentos vontade de tornarem-se ex-fumantes. Parece que a representação do tabagismo como um hábito glamoroso não mais existe e que de fato a política de controle a ele vem obtendo êxito com suas medidas restritivas o que é algo extremamente positivo para nossa sociedade do ponto de vista da saúde pública. A presente tese tem como objetivo analisar as mirações do Santo Daime dentro de um enfoque psicossocial. Tendo como base teórica a teoria das representações sociais e a psicologia social, será feita uma análise do estado alterado de consciência conhecido como miração, resultante do uso ritual do chá do Santo Daime. Utilizamos uma metodologia de pesquisa qualitativa, que envolveu extensa pesquisa bibliográfica, bem como entrevistas semi-estruturadas com membros do grupo daimista conhecido como Cefluris, ou linha do Padrinho Sebastião. A partir deste material, foi feita uma análise onde se procurou compreender a miração articulada às práticas sociais e ao discurso dos membros da doutrina. O Daime é uma religião relativamente pequena, com poucos seguidores, mas desperta interesse de diversas áreas de pesquisa por ter como ponto central a experiência do chá com propriedades psicoativas e a uma série de práticas e discursos ecumênicos, populares e ecológicos. Outro ponto debatido é sua relação com outras religiões e saberes que ao longo da História articulam o ser humano com as chamadas Plantas Mestras, ou enteógenas. A psicologia social e o estudo das religiões sem dúvida podem contribuir muito para aprofundar a compreensão nesta área de grande importância para o mundo contemporâneo.

The present theses has the objective of analyzing Santo Daimes mirações on a psycho-social focus. Based on social representation theory and social psychology, an analysis of the altered state of consciousness know as miração, which is a result of the ritualistic use of the Santo Daime tea, will be made . A qualitative research methodology was used, which involved extensive bibliographical research, as well as semi-structured interviews with members of the daimist group known as Cefluris, or linha do Padrinho Sebastião. Based on this material, an analysis was made such as to better understand the miração articulated with the social practices and the doctrines members speech. The Daime is a relatively small religion, with few followers, but one which draws attention of several research areas for the reason of having as a central point the experience of the tea with psychoactive properties, and also to a series of ecumenist, popular and ecological practices and speeches. Also in focus is the relation with other religions and knowledge, which, during the course of History, articulate the human being with the so called Master Plants, or entheogen plants. The social psychology and the study of religions can, without a doubt, contribute a lot to widen the comprehension in this area of great importance to the contemporaneous world.

Este trabalho aproxima as contribuições da teoria das representações sociais e dos estudos em memória social para a compreensão do campo religioso, especificamente o Espiritismo, reconhecendo a importância da recordação de personalidades para a dinâmica religiosa. Esta pesquisa objetiva analisar o conteúdo da representação social de perfeição, o conteúdo e estrutura da memória de personalidades do Espiritismo e a relação entre ambos. Trata-se de estudo descritivo, desenvolvido em duas etapas. Participaram 75 participantes auto-declarados espíritas - 38 na primeira etapa e 37 na segunda, sendo entrevistados 24 desses. Os participantes, em média, possuíam 37,3 anos de idade e 16,7 anos como espíritas. Na primeira fase aplicou-se, através da Internet, a técnica de evocações livres com o termo indutor espíritos superiores, na qual os participantes respondiam que pessoas se associavam ao termo. Na segunda, prosseguiu-se com as evocações livres e questionário, para caracterização dos participantes. A partir das doze personalidades mais lembradas, realizou-se entrevista semi-estruturada, com questões sobre características, virtudes, lembranças, hierarquia das personalidades, e questões sobre o significado da perfeição e como alcançá-la. Os dados das evocações foram analisados através das técnicas do quadro de quatro casas e construção de árvore máxima de similitude. As entrevistas foram analisadas mediante análise categorial temática. Assim, verificou-se que as personalidades mais recordadas foram: Chico Xavier, Jesus, Allan Kardec, Emmanuel, Bezerra de Menezes, Madre Teresa de Calcutá, Joanna de Ângelis, Gandhi, André Luiz, Francisco de Assis, Maria de Nazaré e Divaldo P. Franco. A representação social de perfeição foi expressa, de modo simplificado, na sentença: um caminho, difícil e longo, em que o ser humano sai da sua condição de inferioridade para a perfeição, através do conhecimento (proveniente do trabalho, do estudo e do auto-conhecimento), livrando-se do seu egoísmo e expressando o amor, tal como demonstrado e vivido por Jesus. Verificou-se, ainda, que essas memórias se organizam, principalmente, em dois modelos de valores complementares no Espiritismo: 1) conhecimento, inteligência, razão, estudo, livro e 2) amor, vivência, fé, trabalho, exemplo. Eles se constituem nas duas condições essenciais para se alcançar essa perfeição. O primeiro modelo está principalmente personificado na figura de Allan Kardec e o segundo, em Jesus. Nesse sentido, o Espiritismo opera na mente dos fiéis, uma síntese entre ambos os modelos, tendo em Chico Xavier a personificação dessa síntese, constituindo-se como tipo ideal de espírita.

Social representations of climate change were examined among university students in three focus groups. The study is based on two different data sets: focus group interviews and the free-word association task. Altogether, 12 Finnish and international interviewees participated in the focus groups discussions and in the free-word association task. Word association procedures are a common method used in social representations research. This technique produces unfiltered, relatively context-free and spontaneous utterances thus providing a unique means to access and asses subjected meanings. Through this technique contents of social representations of climate change were identified. More than fifteen associations were generally accepted contents of climate change by the participants. The most mentioned associations include: natural disasters, politics of climate change, global warming and high emissions of CO2, environmental pollution, and renewable energy, greenhouse effect, developed vs. developing countries, sea level rising, Al Gore and melting glaciers among others. Focus group discussions usually provide an insight into the formation and change of social representations, beliefs, knowledge and ideologies that circulate in societies. The resulting material of focus groups is source of richness of ideas and interactions. The textual material was analyzed based on themes and content. These analyses indicates that social representations of climate change are composed of eight central themes: knowledge about climate change causes, effects of climate change, personal views and perceptions of climate change, the way in which the mass media reports/portrays climate change, proposed solutions, appreciations of modern human beings, and other global concerns related to climate change. Each theme was made of several topics that emerged during the focus group discussions. The central finding of the study is that social representations of climate change seem to exist among university students of Helsinki region Universities. There is a shared understanding of climate change among the participants, and the term has entered everyday life and is part of many people’s daily conversation. Social representations make the unfamiliar familiar; it is from common experiences and memories that people draw the images, language, and gestures required to deal with the unfamiliarities that come along with uncertainties. People’s reliance on the familiar as the preferred reference point is a universal phenomenon.

The discussions concerning the absence of a management model appropriate to the peculiarities of third sector organizations have not been impeditive to their emphasized expansion in the last decades. In the attempt of understanding this phenomenon from the perspective of those who manage social organizations, this work based on the theory of social representations to understand the notion that organization managers of the third sector - based in Fortaleza CE - have of the part that they play and how this notion influences the direction of their activities. Social representations of managers of four different categories of non-governmental organizations have been investigated, each category composed of two unities. The categories researched were: social integration through art and education, prevention and treatment of alcohol and drug abuse, childrens health assistance and community action. By using Doises Societal Approach, the role of social managers translated in intraindividual, interindividual and situational processes of their actions, has been analysed within the social representations, focusing on beliefs, values, symbols and stories that give meaning to the existence of non-governmental organizations. Analysis and discussion of data displayed the existence of diversity in the understanding of managers within their practice, in other words, the management profile is also its own managers. The branch where an organization acts is also preponderant in the shaping of a management style. It could be deduced, from to the organizations researched, that professional formation and the managers social insertion mainly, are determinative factors in the outlining of a management model of its own. It was concluded that, due to heterogeneity of interests and action segments, there is no systematic process for social management among organizations. Management styles are supported by their directors own perception of achievement, who model organizations according to their contingencies

As discussões acerca da ausência de um modelo de gestão adequado às particularidades das organizações do terceiro setor, não tem sido impeditivo à expansão acentuada nas últimas décadas. É na tentativa de compreender o fenômeno a partir do olhar daqueles que conduzem as organizações sociais, que o presente trabalho buscou suporte na teoria das representações sociais para compreender a noção que gestores de organizações do terceiro setor, situadas em Fortaleza CE, possuem do papel que exercem e como essa noção influencia na condução das atividades organizacionais. Este trabalho investigou as representações sociais de gestores de quatro categorias de organizações não-governamentais, cada categoria contando com duas unidades. As categorias de organizações não-governamentais pesquisadas são: de integração social através da arte e educação, de prevenção e tratamento de dependência de álcool e drogas ilícitas, de assistência à saúde infantil e de ação comunitária. Este trabalho analisa as relações entre representações sociais e práticas sociais, enfocando a atividade profissional do psicólogo num contexto de atuação específico e de inserção recente, os Centros de Referência de Assistência Social (CRAS). Investigamos especificamente tanto as representações sociais que os psicólogos têm dos usuários quanto as representações que os usuários têm dos psicólogos e suas relações com as práticas destes profissionais nos CRAS de Sergipe. Para tanto foram realizados dois estudos: um com 27 psicólogos que atuam em CRAS e outro com 20 usuários deste serviço. No primeiro estudo utilizamos um questionário e no segundo uma entrevista estruturada. Os resultados revelaram, no primeiro estudo, a existência de uma dissociação entre as práticas declaradas pelos profissionais e a percepção das práticas de outros psicólogos, o que nos permitiu inferir a prática real adotada pelos profissionais de psicologia. Percebemos ainda que os sujeitos que possuem uma representação mais psicologizante dos usuários apresentam maior coerência entre representações e práticas e mais percepções negativas em relação ao trabalho no CRAS. No segundo estudo foi possível evidenciar que a representação da psicologia mesmo em contextos diferenciados de atuação ainda está mais vinculada à atuação do psicólogo na área clínica como um solucionador de problemas psicopatológicos e que tem como prática fundamental a conversa, a orientação e o conselho. Tais representações apresentam relação tanto com a percepção dos usuários sobre as práticas dos psicólogos como com a prática real adotada pelos psicólogos no CRAS. Estes resultados são discutidos à luz da Teoria das Representações Sociais e das suas relações com as práticas sociais.

This work analyses the relationship between social representations and social practices, with a focus on the psychologist‟s professional activity in a specific and recent context: that of the Centros de Referência de Assistência Social CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Centres). Specifically, we investigate both the social representations psychologists have of the centres‟ users as well as those users have towards psychologists and their relationship with the practices of these professionals in Sergipe‟s CRASs. In order to accomplish this, two studies were carried out: one with 27 psychologists working in CRASs; and another with 20 users of this service. In the first study, we used a questionnaire and, in the second, a structured interview. The results revealed, in the first study, dissociation between what the professionals declared their practices to be and the perception of such practices from other psychologists‟ perspectives, which allowed us to infer the real practice adopted by psychology professionals. We perceived, in addition, that subjects that have a more psychologising representation of their users exhibit greater coherence between representations and practices as well as more negative views in regards to work in the CRAS. Um dos grandes problemas que atinge a humanidade desde primórdios e cada vez mais vem sendo questionada, trazendo preocupação a sociedade contemporânea, no contexto mundial, globalizado e multicultural é o fenômeno da violência. A presente tese objetivou apreeender as representações sociais das crianças e adolescentes vitimadas e não vitimadas de violência doméstica. Tratar-se de um estudo do tipo exploratório e documental de cunho quantitativo-qualitativo. A pesquisa foi realizada nos Centros de referencia especializado da Assistência Social (CREAS) da grande João Pessoa e em escolas públicas. Participaram desta pesquisa, 239 crianças e adolescentes com idades entre 7 e 18 anos. Os Instrumentos utilizados foram : Teste de Associação Livre de Palavras, Questionário biosóciodemográfico, entrevista em profundidade, Escala de violência psicológica e Ficha de dados documentais notificados. A análise dos dados foi realizada com os programas computacionais SPSS, ALCESTE e TRIDEUX-MOTS. Verificou-se que crianças e adolescentes vitimizadas e não vitimizados de violência doméstica ancoraram suas representações em ações negativas de violência a partir de formatos diversificados através da violência criminal ou de delinquência e violência doméstica manifestada de forma física ou sexual, estas violências atingindo crianças e adolescentes. Na amostra de crianças e adolescentes não vitimizados verificou-se uma ancoragem da violência trazendo causas e consequências e o caráter letal, enquanto que os participantes vitimados representaram a violência ancorando-a a partir de uma concepção psicossocial com conceituações e valorações negativa, classificação da violência e consequências, aspectos relacionados aos agressores ou algozes , inseguranças, atitudes positivas contra a violência e a banalização da violência. Os resultados das representações dos adolescentes em relação à violência foram ancoradas nas consequências da mesma enquanto as crianças em relação à violência retrataram a partir de ações maléficas e intencional, no entanto representaram tais ações de forma materializada. A partir dos resultados pode-se inferir que as representações diferenciaram entre os vitimados e não vitimados entre as faixas etárias e sexo. Conclui-se que o discurso no geral, revelou-se em um caráter multifacetado que é peculiar ao próprio fenômeno, que está presente na vida em geral, e no cotidiano de todas as pessoas independente de idade, classe social, raça enfim ninguém está imune a este crise multiforme.

Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender quais as representações sociais dos associados da ATUT (Associação dos Trabalhadores da Unidade de Triagem do Hospital Psiquiátrico São Pedro) sobre as ações de comunicação desenvolvidas pelo Projeto de Extensão “ATUT: Reciclando Vidas com Inclusão Social”, vinculado à Agência Experimental de Relações Públicas (AGERP) da Faculdade de Biblioteconomia e Comunicação da UFRGS (FABICO). Para tanto foram priorizados os sentidos produzidos, ofertados e compartilhados sobre as ações de comunicação do Projeto de Extensão – pesquisadora, associados, coordenadora do Projeto de Extensão. Como referencial teórico, adotei as teorizações de Dominique Wolton sobre a comunicação que fervilha nas práticas cotidianas, nas relações face a face. A comunicação no contexto organizacional foi abordada a partir do resgate das teorizações de Rudimar Baldissera, Fábia Lima, Ivone L. Oliveira, Carine F. Paula, entre outros. A Teoria das Representações Sociais, proposta por Serge Moscovici em 1961, serviu de alicerce teórico-metodológico para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa. As escolhas metodológicas basearam-se no método qualitativo, evidenciado no viés etnográfico da pesquisa. As técnicas de coleta de dados foram a observação participante, a entrevista qualitativa e a pesquisa documental. A análise dos sentidos, inspirada em estudos das representações sociais, foi utilizada como caminho para encontrá-las, bem como identificar seu processo constitutivo. As atividades de comunicação e extensão foram discutidas a partir do resgate teórico dos conceitos de extensão, proposto por Paulo Freire e Boaventura de Sousa Santos e de comunicação comunitária, trabalhado por Denise Cogo, Raquel Paiva, entre outros. O processo constitutivo das representações sociais demonstrou que elas estavam ancoradas nas interações, nas trocas mútuas, alicerçadas no diálogo, na participação, na cooperação. Algumas divergências nos sentidos ressaltaram as condições sociais, econômicas e culturais em que vivem os associados da ATUT, fazendo com que uns estejam mais focados na geração de renda, na sobrevivência e menos nas atividades recreativas e/ou terapêuticas. As objetivações ganharam concretude através das falas, dos gestos, dos atos, ganharam vida no encontro afetivo com o outro. Os sentidos postos em circulação nesta pesquisa evidenciaram a importância das ações de comunicação comunitária em um grupo onde aparentemente elas poderiam ser dispensáveis. No processo de reorganização das ações, de se adaptar aos contextos, de buscar uma relação dialógica, todos saíram ganhando, pois compartilharam sentidos, abrindo caminho a novas formas de conhecimento e reconhecimento do Outro.

Essa dissertação traz algumas reflexões sobre o fenômeno bullying, caracterizado como um tipo especifico de violência, que manifesta-se desde as formas concretas de agressões, até as formas mais sutis como a violência psicológica também abordada nesta pesquisa como violência simbólica, na perspectiva bourderiana. Na primeira parte do trabalho foi feita uma analise teórica acerca do conceito de violência onde também abordamos de forma geral, as pesquisas e estudos realizados no Brasil no final da década de 1970. Na segunda parte da pesquisa, refletir sobre o fenômeno bullying, a partir de uma análise da violência baseada em algumas teorias psicanalíticas de Lacan. A relevância de tal referencial alinhou-se aos objetivos desse, pois nos permitiu refletir sobre qual a posição ocupada pelos sujeitos envolvidos nas práticas de bullying, nos saberes que orientam sua circulação pelo tecido social, mais especificamente, pela escola. O percurso aqui oferecido por Lacan (1998) e verificado na comunicação O estádio do espelho, foi fundamental uma vez que este considera que o sujeito deve ser entendido a partir da combinação dos sistemas simbólicos e socioculturais e nos ofereceu as pistas para uma observação cuidadosa acerca da rede discursiva que se estabelecem nos espaços escolares, pois a partir do universo empírico analisado, pode-se compreender a dinâmica das representações reproduzidas no contexto escolar e quais as representações sociais que os alunos têm sobre o bullying. Com o desdobramento das etapas quantitativas e qualitativas aplicadas ao universo de 427 alunos de 6 a 8 ano de uma escola da rede particular de ensino em São Luis do Maranhão, concluiu-se que o bullying pode, portanto ser visto como resultado do conflito de especificações e discursos sociais envolvendo relações de poder, onde as vitimas são determinadas pelo fato de pertence a diferentes subgrupos definidos pela idade, sexo, status socioeconômico, raça, etnicidade, religião e etc. Ressalta-se que presente trabalho insere-se no quadro dos estudos que investigam as relações entre cultura e educação, a partir das representações sociais e pretende contribuir para a compreensão de algumas das dimensões sociais relacionadas com os maus tratos através da exploração das percepções que adolescentes e pais fazem dos protagonistas de situações de vitimização e agressões entre pares, perscrutando as atitudes face a agressores, vítimas e observadores.

This essay reflects on the bullying phenomenon, characterized as a specific type of violence that manifests itself from the concrete forms of aggression, to the more subtle forms such as psychological violence also addressed in this research as symbolic violence, in the perspective bourderiana. O mundo contemporâneo globalizado ressalta assimetrias e paradoxos socioeconômicos, lastreados por avanços tecnológicos de informação e de comunicação, pelas evidências de elevado nível de desigualdades sociais e de desastres ecológicos que assolam o mundo. Buscam-se alternativas que possam mitigar ou eliminar a situação de miséria e de pobreza no mundo, esta tese propõe caminhar nessa direção, ao buscar compreender o significado conceitual da tecnologia social. O objetivo do estudo consistiu em identificar e analisar as representações sociais dos sujeitos que refletem a relação plural e histórica de homogeneidade da tecnologia social com o grupo, no cotidiano e nas práticas comunicativas. Funda-se na Teoria das Representações Sociais, concebida por Moscovici (1961/1978/2012), pela Teoria do Núcleo Central proposta por Abric (1987, 1994, 2003a, 2003b), coadjuvados nessa discussão pelos modelos teóricos marxistas, pragmatistas e construtivistas, e, na perspectiva da dimensão psicossociotécnica. O trabalho configurou-se em duas fases: pesquisa documental descritiva qualitativa e pesquisa empírica. A primeira refere-se à identificação de possíveis sujeitos vinculados a programas de pós-graduação stricto sensu de instituições de ensino superior no Brasil, no portal da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) e do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). A segunda investigou-se as representações sociais de 83 sujeitos, professores pesquisadores selecionados, oriundos de programas de pós-graduação stricto sensu, em todas as áreas do conhecimento, sobre tecnologia social. O tratamento múltiplo dos dados baseou-se nos softwares de análise lexical (ALCESTE) Reinert (1990), de análise de evocações (EVOC) Vèrger (1992), de índice de centralidade dos elementos representacionais (INCEV) Vèrger (1992), e de análise de similitude (SIMI) Flament (1986). As representações sociais da comunidade científica brasileira acerca da tecnologia social evidenciam uma teia de relações no processo da construção coletiva, protagonizada pelo ator social nas decisões estratégicas e de produção. O núcleo central apresenta os elementos: inclusão social por meio de rede solidária e ética, apropriação do conhecimento pelo ator social, qualidade de vida, envolvimento e respeito à comunidade e ao ambiente, baixo custo e simplicidade. O sistema periférico é marcado pelos elementos: inovação social, reaplicabilidade, sustentabilidade humana, social, econômica (trabalho e renda), política, e ambiental, para eficaz transformação social. Na abordagem estrutural, as representações sociais, como conjunto organizado, acolhem diferentes dimensões transversais, dentre elas a dimensão psicossociotécnica, pois se refere à consciência dos atores envolvidos, empreendedores inovadores conscientes, no universo sociotécnico, o que corrobora na singularidade da tecnologia social.

▼ Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar as representações sociais (RS) de família por diferentes gerações e posições específicas – filhos, pais e avós. Buscamos também identificar as inter-relações dessas RS de família com elementos da memória social nos processos de transmissão entre as gerações. Para isso, realizamos dois estudos: o primeiro, com o objetivo geral de identificar o conteúdo das RS de família por três gerações, no qual foram aprofundadas 15 entrevistas (filhos, pais e avós de ambos os sexos) com roteiro semiestruturado; e o segundo, que investigou os processos de construção das RS de família e o papel da memória social nessa construção em diferentes gerações, através de três oficinas sociodramáticas com quatro participantes cada: filhos (9 a 11 anos); pais (37 a 41 anos) e avós (59 a 68 anos), de ambos os sexos. A análise dos resultados mostrou, nos dois estudos, uma representação de família valorizada positivamente, com pontos comuns, como a concepção do seu surgimento através dos ritos sociais (namoro, casamento, nascimento), sua configuração (pais, filhos, avós e parentes extensos), sua formação por vínculos consanguíneos e, acima de tudo, afetivos, o que inclui adoção, amigos e relações das famílias reconstruídas. Tem função de amar, cuidar, proteger, estar junto. É responsável, transmite valores e educa, variando de acordo com posicionamento ocupado. No segundo estudo, especificamente, as concepções, práticas e modelos familiares foram observados nos seus processos de transição e transmissão geracional, identificando-se aspectos da memória social, como a memória comum/geracional, pessoal, que estão presentes na construção das RS, atreladas ao pensamento social e a formação das identidades. A relevância dessa pesquisa está relacionada com a questão socialmente presente no imaginário e na vida cotidiana da população que é o casamento, o que se expressa tanto pelo aumento crescente de uniões, assim como de divórcios. Uniões e separações revelam-se indissociáveis e percebidas de forma significativa tanto por homens, como por mulheres, constituindo assim, objetos de representações sociais. A Teoria das Representações Sociais de Serge Moscovici serviu de embasamento teórico ao estudo. Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo, compreender as representações sociais do casamento, por parte de quatro cônjuges heterossexuais, procurando entender os motivos que deram origem ao casamento, assim como ressaltar as representações pelas quais, os casais mantêm-se casados, identificando questões e vivências do mesmo. A coleta de dados qualitativos foi realizada através do roteiro da entrevista semiestruturada, enfocando a análise de temas relacionados às percepções dos casais tais como: trabalho, filhos, sexo, dinheiro, vida familiar e social, que foram interpretados sob a epistemologia da subjetividade na pesquisa qualitativa de Fernando González Rey. A discussão dos resultados mostrou que há representações de união no casamento assim como representações relacionadas de aprovação familiar do cônjuge, a divisão de tarefas domésticas, a diminuição da prática sexual após o nascimento dos filhos, a administração do dinheiro e a negociação para resolver os conflitos.

The relevance of this research is related to the question in this social imaginary and the everyday life of the population that is marriage, which is expressed both by the increasing number of marriages, and divorces. Unions and separations reveal themselves inseparable and perceived significantly both by men as by women, thus, objects of social representations. The Theory of Social Representations Serge Moscovici served as the theoretical study. This research aimed to understand the social representations of marriage by four heterosexual spouses, trying to understand the reasons that led to marriage, as well as highlight the representations by which the couples remain married, identifying issues and experiences of same.The qualitative data collection was performed using semi-structured interview script, focusing on the analysis of issues related to perceptions of couples such as: work, kids, sex, money, family and social life, which were interpreted under the epistemology of subjectivity in qualitative research Fernando González Rey the discussion of the results showed that there are representations of unity in marriage as well as representations related to family approval of the spouse, the division of labor, sexual practice after the birth of children, money management and how to resolve conflicts.
