▼ In any organisation processes can be seen evolving throughout their lifecycle and play a deciding
role in the efficiency of organisational activities. Tender processes are no different and with growing
competitiveness and globalisation it has become the responsibility of managerial staff to ensure
continuous improvement is applied to processes so organisational goals are consistently met and
knowledge, talents and other success factors are institutionalised therein.
The objective of this study was to perform an iteration of process re-engineering on the tender
process within Tubular Track, so that a tender could be performed more efficiently and more
competitively, and be more manageable. The investigation was carried out by means of a literature
review and interviews. This was done to establish an accurate baseline from the current process and
then re-engineer the system in its entirety. Verification of the investigation method was done through
application of the PMBOK proven project management methods, while validation was done by
comparison of processes through process improvement methodology principles as relationship.
Process improvement and its management is a continuous procedure but because this study only
focuses on the design of a new tender process for Tubular Track the conclusion that was made
through literature application and comparison was that the newly designed process is expected to
improve efficiency, manageability and time to complete.
In the final conclusion stage recommendations were also made that re-engineering phases be
planned and followed with corresponding risk and change management plans. Training needed for
personnel so that implementation would be optimally applied and continuous improvement
institutionalised would also need inspecting.

▼ The constant changes in governmental and customer requirements are forcing organizations to adapt in today’s dynamic market. Challenges such as international competition, increased cost pressure and efficient resource allocation are just a few examples of what organizations currently are facing. The need of managing business processes has become evident, as processes describes how well the organization is operating. Processes are no longer seen as just a tool, but as a way to visualize and standardize the organization in order to decrease variation and waste. With limited resources, ABB HVC has been working with business processes for over 20 years without any major influence since the competition has not required it. During the last three years the focus has shifted and business processes are now a hot topic. A stance has been taken and ABB HVC is now aiming to become a process-oriented organization. To become a process-oriented organization, ABB HVC needs a solid foundation built around processes. This project aims to satisfy a part of that foundation by designing a process for the technology department. As the technology department currently lacks a defined process, they cannot in a clear and visual way describe how they operate. Most of the time spent during this project, was focused on designing a functional process and to identify options for development. The research type of this project is a change focused research with an action research strategy. The selected approach is a design research methodology with qualitative data collection. In order to gather all the required information to complete the task, a literature review and an empirical analysis of ABB HVC were conducted. The result of this project was a process map describing the workflow and interactions of the technology department. An implementation plan, tools and suggested improvements have also been included in the report to provide the technology department with a strategy in how to continue the process work.

▼ Business
Process Management (BPM) has become one of the
management approaches adopted by many organisations that strive to survive in a turbulent and competitive environment. BPM offers the means to manage and optimize business processes with the objective of improved efficiency and effectiveness; thereby improving the potential of business success. However, the extent to which BPM influences business success is a matter of debate with diverse schools of thought finding it difficult to reach consensus regarding the critical success factors of BPM and the extent at which processes and people influence business success. The capability of an organisation or enterprise is the ability to deliver on a desired outcome. In this dissertation, the enterprise capabilities of BPM are investigated. The research sets out to investigate the BPM maturity level of a South African parastatal. The intention is to identify and improve on those factors that influence maturity of the enterprise capabilities and may have negative impact on stakeholders. The approach taken to address the research objectives drew on case study methodology. Fieldwork was conducted using company documents, observation, a questionnaire and in-depth interviews. The questionnaire responses were qualitatively analysed using the categories of Hammer's model of enterprise capability. The research findings identified weaknesses in all categories of enterprise capability though expertise appeared to be thriving. The findings further suggest that weaknesses in leadership and the leadership style in particular impact on the effectiveness of business processes. The leadership style was seen as the major driver to impede
process effectiveness. The following themes describing leadership style were derived from interviews: creation of sense of belonging, degree of approachability and extent of collaboration. In order to improve the BPM in the case company, the following recommendations were made: communication sessions, awareness training and
process remodelling. The research study also provides the opportunity to understand BPM in a broader context, thus having potential for transferability to other organisations.

▼ Kaasaegsed ettevõtte infosüsteemid võimaldavad ettevõtetel koguda detailset informatsiooni äriprotsesside täitmiste kohta. Eelnev koos masinõppe meetoditega võimaldab kasutada andmejuhitavaid ja ennustatavaid lähenemisi äriprotsesside jõudluse jälgimiseks. Kasutades ennustuslike äriprotsesside jälgimise tehnikaid on võimalik jõudluse probleeme ennustada ning soovimatu tegurite mõju ennetavalt leevendada.
Tüüpilised küsimused, millega tegeleb ennustuslik protsesside jälgimine on “millal antud äriprotsess lõppeb?” või “mis on kõige tõenäolisem järgmine sündmus antud äriprotsessi jaoks?”. Suurim osa olemasolevatest lahendustest eelistavad täpsust selgitatavusele. Praktikas, selgitatavus on ennustatavate tehnikate tähtis tunnus.
Töö teaduslik panus on ennustuslikuks protsesside jälgimiseks vabavaralise tööriista arendamine. Hiljem saab treenitud mudeleid kasutada hetkel käivate äriprotsesside tulemuste ennustamiseks, mis saab aidata kasutajaid reaalajas.; Modern enterprise systems collect detailed data about the execution of the business processes they support. The widespread availability of such data in companies, coupled with advances in machine learning, have led to the emergence of data-driven and predictive approaches to monitor the performance of business processes. By using such predictive
process monitoring approaches, potential performance issues can be anticipated and proactively mitigated.
Various approaches have been proposed to address typical predictive
process monitoring questions, such as what is the most likely continuation of an ongoing
process instance, or when it will finish. However, most existing approaches prioritize accuracy over explainability. Yet in practice, explainability is a critical property of predictive methods. It is not enough to accurately predict that a running
process instance will end up in an undesired outcome. It is also important for users to understand why this prediction is made and what can be done to prevent this undesired outcome.
This thesis proposes two methods to build predictive…

▼ Viimastel aastatel on erinevates valdkondades tegutsevad ettevõtted üles näidanud kasvavat huvi masinõppel põhinevate rakenduste kasutusele võtmiseks. Muuhulgas otsitakse võimalusi oma äriprotsesside efektiivsuse tõstmiseks, kasutades ennustusmudeleid protsesside jooksvaks seireks. Sellised ennustava protsessiseire meetodid võtavad sisendiks sündmuslogi, mis koosneb hulgast lõpetatud äriprotsessi juhtumite sündmusjadadest, ning kasutavad masinõppe algoritme ennustusmudelite treenimiseks. Saadud mudelid teevad ennustusi lõpetamata (antud ajahetkel aktiivsete) protsessijuhtumite jaoks, võttes sisendiks sündmuste jada, mis selle hetkeni on toimunud ning ennustades kas järgmist sündmust antud juhtumis, juhtumi lõppemiseni jäänud aega või instantsi lõpptulemust. Lõpptulemusele orienteeritud ennustava protsessiseire meetodid keskenduvad ennustamisele, kas protsessijuhtum lõppeb soovitud või ebasoovitava lõpptulemusega. Süsteemi kasutaja saab ennustuste alusel otsustada, kas sekkuda antud protsessijuhtumisse või mitte, eesmärgiga ära hoida ebasoovitavat lõpptulemust või leevendada selle negatiivseid tagajärgi. Erinevalt puhtalt ennustavatest süsteemidest annavad korralduslikud protsessiseire meetodid kasutajale ka soovitusi, kas ja kuidas antud juhtumisse sekkuda, eesmärgiga optimeerida mingit kindlat kasulikkusfunktsiooni. Käesolev doktoritöö uurib, kuidas treenida, hinnata ja kasutada ennustusmudeleid äriprotsesside lõpptulemuste ennustava ja korraldusliku seire raames. Doktoritöö pakub välja taksonoomia olemasolevate meetodite klassifitseerimiseks ja võrdleb neid katseliselt. Lisaks pakub töö välja raamistiku tekstiliste andmete kasutamiseks antud ennustusmudelites. Samuti pakume välja ennustuste ajalise stabiilsuse mõiste ning koostame raamistiku korralduslikuks protsessiseireks, mis annab kasutajatele soovitusi, kas protsessi sekkuda või mitte. Katsed näitavad, et väljapakutud lahendused täiendavad olemasolevaid meetodeid ning aitavad kaasa ennustava protsessiseire süsteemide rakendamisele reaalsetes süsteemides.; Recent years have witnessed a growing adoption of machine learning techniques for business improvement across various fields. Among other emerging applications, organizations are exploiting opportunities to improve the performance of their business processes by using predictive models for runtime monitoring. Such predictive
process monitoring techniques take an event log (a set of completed business
process execution traces) as input and use machine learning techniques to train predictive models. At runtime, these techniques predict either the next event, the remaining time, or the final outcome of an ongoing case, given its incomplete execution trace consisting of the events performed up to the present moment in the given case. In particular, a family of techniques called outcome-oriented predictive
process monitoring focuses on predicting whether a case will end with a desired or an undesired outcome. The user of the system can use the predictions to decide whether or not to…

▼ The world that companies operate in today forces them to continually seek out and strive for new cost savings and where possible create a competitive advantage. Lean, Lean Thinking and Lean Six Sigma has seen tools and methods applied in manufacturing environments over the years that have proved effective. This dissertation takes one of these tools, Visual Process Controls, and seeks to establish the effects of implementing it so that there is an improvement to month-end activities in an accounting environment. Following extensive research of Lean, Lean Thinking and Lean Six Sigma literature the following two research objectives have been identified for further investigation: Research Objective One: To explore the impact of introducing Visual Process Controls on Pfizer's Grange Castle and Newbridge accounting departments' month-end processes Research Objective Two: To ascertain if Visual Process Controls in use in Grange Castle and Newbridge accounting departments provide clarity of use and clarity of process, and if the monthend visual process control board is an effective process improvement tool for an accounting department environment. The data collection method chosen by the author is qualitative as there is a need to take into account the experiences and views of the analysts, accountants and management within the accounting departments. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with respondents appropriately spread between the various sub-functions of the accounting department to give a fair reflection of the impact and effective use of the month-end visual process control board. The data analysis was both qualitative and quantitative as the author found it necessary to have defined rules for scoring in order to arrive at a conclusion ¿ that the use of Visual Process Control tools within an accounting environment was effective. The researcher achieved research objective one, to explore the impact of introducing visual process controls on the month-end processes within the accounting departments of Grange Castle and ix Newbridge. The research findings indicate many positive impacts across six distinct areas ¿ the month-end process; the finance leadership team; the finance team; team behaviours; tools, systems or processes; and team communication. The research for research objective two, to ascertain if Visual Process Controls in use in the accounting departments of Grange Castle and Newbridge provide clarity of use and clarity of process, and if the month-end visual process control board is an effective process improvement tool for an accounting department environment, have also been achieved. From the twelve respondents interviewed, ten or 83% have deemed the use of the month-end visual process control board to be an effective tool for this environment, based on the defined scoring criteria.

▼ The main objectives of this study were to identify the main
process health and safety
management deficiencies that require senior management’s attention. To identify the critical drivers that could be used to improve health and safety to reach generative
process health and safety culture level five and to develop a model of effectively managing hazardous chemical substance exposure in the petrochemical industry.
Ethical clearance to conduct the study was obtained from the University of KwaZulu - Natal Humanities and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee (HSS/1094/018D). The targeted population was 800 employees in one major petrochemical enterprise in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The study was conducted by distributing 400 questionnaires manually to the randomly selected potential participants of which 259 were returned duly completed and used. The returned questionnaires were statistically analysed using descriptive statistics in SPSS version 25.
The research was planned to first explore the concepts by qualitative research methods, such as in depth literature review. The quantitative data collection and analysis is based on a quantitative research method involving questionnaire survey and statistical data analysis methods. The validation of the findings and related conclusions rely on the results from both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The mixed method was considered the best option for this study as it assisted to leverage the advantages of both quantitative and qualitative research methods in achieving the research objectives.
The key
process health and safety
management deficiencies to be prioritized are, namely, poor engineering design integrity, poor controls when working with suspended loads, poor controls when working at heights, poor housekeeping, poor controls of source of ignition, verifying energy isolation before starting to work on equipment, poor health and safety risk assessments, handling of hazardous chemicals, human error and fatigue
management. The key
process health and safety drivers to be prioritized for generative
process health and safety culture are, leadership commitment, chemical exposure
management, health and safety risk assessment,
process hazard analysis and permit to work. The developed generative
process health and safety culture model was subjected to rigorous measurement analysis using structural equation modelling, namely, principal component analysis, goodness-of-fit measure, assessment of normality, discriminant validity, multicollinearity, model adequacy, reliability and validity.
This study will assist senior
management with a framework to reduce
process health and safety incidents in the petrochemical industry and improve health and safety towards generative culture where organisations say, “Health and safety is the way we do business”.

This study analyses the dynamics of a project management process and its outcomes by developing a framework that integrates Badiouan dialectical materialism to operationalise a Luhmannian systems theoretic conceptualisation of the phenomenon. By considering the dynamics associated with processes of project manager “(self-) identity work” (Alvesson and Willmott, 2002, p. 625), project manager psychic system autopoiesis, or “the self-reproduction of [consciousness] by [the thoughts] that have in turn been produced in and by the [psychic] system” (Luhmann 2013a, p.43), and Badiouan intensive variation in a coappearing that is “a dimension of [project manager] multiples which is not that of their being qua being (covered by ontology), but that of their appearances in worlds, or their localization (or beingthere)” (Badiou, 2013, p. 579), the study discovered an isomorphic relationship linking these concepts that enabled a rich multi-perspectival interpretation of project management dynamics and confirmed the utility of the Badiouan model.
Dynamics of self-identity work ↔ Dynamics of autopoiesis ↔ Dynamics of intensive variation
Figure 1: Project management dynamics and isomorphic inquiry
Extensive interview results support the framework’s contention that project manager coappearing in a project world may be conceptualised as a topological, tri-modal system comprised of social coexistence, technical coalignment and outcome-oriented coachievement. The results suggest that the dynamics of intensive variation may be modelled as the transitioning of this system in response to factors that are functions of project manager attributes, project management functions and project management constructs, changes in the real-world state of affairs and identifiability of the project name. The study concludes that modal intensities, inter-modal relations and levels of prevailing contingency in coappearing all contribute to determining the type of dynamics that can be observed in a particular project world. Optimal dynamics are manifested in resonant, self-referential, system autopoiesis whilst weak and dysfunctional dynamics reflect instances of unresolved contingency, varying levels of suboptimal modal intensities and inter-modal relations are either indirect or broken. By providing an evidentially supported account of project management dynamics, this study contributes new knowledge that is relevant for both practitioner and research communities and demonstrates the value of such a novel and richly promising Luhmannian/Badiouan approach to future project and general management inquiry.

▼ Business
process is a collection of tasks performed to achieve a certain business objective within an organisation. Due to the complexity and variability of business processes, organisations use information technology to support their business processes. Business
Process Management Systems (BPMS) are widely accepted software systems that enable organisations to automate and continuously improve business processes. Although the benefits of BPMS have been widely recognised, there is still a large portion of business processes that are not adequately addressed by these systems. These types of processes make up the so-called the Long Tail of processes, i.e., highly customised processes that are unique to individual organisations or a small number of workers. Many organisations do not see significant Return On Investment on customising BPMS, or implementing solutions to automate Long Tail processes. So they often rely on using paper-based forms for running their processes due to its low cost, flexibility, and easy-of-use. However, using paper-based forms puts a burden of doing tedious manual work to the end users, restraining them from focusing on more important tasks. In this thesis, we propose a pragmatic approach for automating form-based processes, in which annotation is used to help collect necessary information from the users to ascertain basic data flows and
process execution paths. We have implemented the approach in the system called EzyForms, a framework for supporting form-based processes. The architecture supports an end-to-end life-cycle of forms, starting from its creation, annotation, and ultimately to its execution in a
process. The proposed approach and framework can help administration officers with little or no technical background to automate the Long Tail of the processes which in turn helps the end users to execute the
process in a more efficient manner.

▼ Abstract
In order to make the limited manpower of judges concentrated on the core trialaffairs for the decrease or avoidance of the delay of cases, Judicial Yuan positivelypromote the Judicial
Process Management System. Judicial
process management isoriginally a system developed for the decrease of cases under delayed trial. Its centralthinking is that the judge will not start to intervene the trial until the case is close to thestage suitable for bringing to trial. The preparation work before that is to be positivelyhandled by a small number of judges and sufficient auxiliary manpower led by them. Asa result, the limited manpower of judges is able to concentrate their time and energy on
oyer and judgment. Hence, the cases can be rapidly under trial, alleviating the caseburden of judges. This system has changed the traditional case separation model. Therefore, as from May 1, 2007 and June 1, 2007, Kaohsiung District Court and TaoyuanDistrict Court respectively started adopting this system to conduct trial handling of civilcases and criminal cases, with a trial period lasting for two years. In view of the localityfactor, and focusing on the Judicial
Process Management System applied by Kaohsiung
District Court to the handling of cases, the study just obtains materials from the localsources, and ttempts to employ the
management implication to carry out this research, intending to construct a Judicial
process Management System which is applicable to thecourts of Taiwan.
Attempting to start the research from the angle of
management, this paper adoptsthe research methods of literature analysis method, in-depth interview method and synthetic induction method, and combines them with multiple case analysis method to
investigate and analyze the related problems. In the past, the judicial circle enormously stressed the cultivation of legal personnel and expertise, but obviously neglected the judicial administrative
management. Along with the acceleration of reform steps, it is required to import administrative
management system to the judicial circle. Focusing on
the current predicaments of judicial administrative
management in Taiwan, including the obstruction coming from the internal personnel and the restriction of external ordinance system, the study makes the related analyses, and expects to have an insight into the problems through the improvement way of the use of the readjusted human resources. The study pays concerns for, expands and increases the functions of legal supporting staff, and establishes the handling
process of the judicial cases of Taiwan and the standard
process of the time limit. Apart from absorbing the experience of the international
advanced countries, the study cautiously and seriously considers the judicial culture itself
in Taiwan, as well as the merits and demerits found in the cultivation restrictions of legal personnel. These two aspects are mutually integrated, hoping to bring greater progress to the judicial
management policy of Taiwan, and turn it to be more complete.
The construction of an…

▼ Research studies of the American building industry from as far back as the 1920's, and through to the 21st century have been consistently critical of the inefficiencies and mismanagement in industry practices. The American industry grew and learned from European and British practices, which have not fared much better and have been equally criticized for decades. It is these same practices that are now a major influence on how the global construction industry conducts itself today. The same influences, impacting today's global industry's professionalism and managerial methodologies, have also great influenced the creation and practice of international construction law - based on western settled law. This research identifies that institutional practices of the building industry's governance and contractual practices have led to widely applied self-imposed industry constraints; which manage discrete, limited and specific information, but constrains knowledge. These restrictions on critically valuable knowledge have caused great inefficiencies, and formed a traditional business methodological phenomenon that propagates adversity. Traditional western industry practices, and numerous variants of it, have established a legal base of stare decisis, or "to stand by things decided;" these legal decisions have emboldened an invariant legal construct which restricts innovation in the assessment of existing and proposed industry practices. Studies of the building industry have too often sought to use legal precedent to the detriment of the industry, in lieu of harnessing it and advancing industry innovation through discrete engagement. Project contractual constructs increasingly magnify project complexity and restricted knowledge exchange under the guise of a premature assumption of unknown risks in projects that have yet to be designed. While simultaneously hindering processes that seek to be inclusive, collaborative and successful in producing a documented, clear contractual intent agreement, that eliminates phantom risk, prior to commitments to specific project events. The advancement of dynamic social and transactional business
management processes, enables the creation of knowledge that is focused, timely, economical, and shared; identifying data, ideas, insights, opportunities, questions, issues, and problems, in a defined context, or event. Such processes promote the questions of "Why,' 'How,' 'What,' 'Where,' and 'When,' within the problem context (or event) structure. The Processes for Knowledge
Management, and their contexts (events) for knowledge vision and innovation, create expectations and roles for resources (asset specificity) who through
process governance and discrete contextual transactions, limit risk, manage time, cost, and quality of the components to make a project whole.

▼ The modern business world is getting more and more complicated. In order to satisfy customer needs, companies investigate different options to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness. Business processes management has recently become a focal topic for big and small organizations because accurately designed business processes can ensure competent execution of value-added activities. Apart from that, business process management allows for structured management of process portfolio when based on clearly defined process architecture. This is exactly where this work starts.
The objective of the study is to discuss the development of training material in the form of guideline to contribute to the systematic approach to business process modeling and quality improvement. When modeling business processes, process developers in the case function are going for an ad-hoc approach, and for this reason, training material as a tool to introduce a systematic way of process modeling is needed. The case function can benefit from the defined methods not only by having processes of a higher quality that are easy to follow but also by improved communication with other business areas in the business management system. These benefits may further lead to the improvement of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The desired outcome of the study is the clear definition of process model classification based on the process-architecture-related literature review and current state analysis of the case function as well as the development of the step-by-steep guideline for process modeling. The guideline is built to ensure availability of an easy-to-follow system for process modeling leading to positive impact on process model quality. To reach the goal, the research addresses problems of standardization, methodology and detailed level of models.
Quality of process model is a topic which does not have an extensive literature coverage. As a response to this fact, criteria for evaluation of the quality of training material and process models are set during the research based on the available information from the literature combined with specific needs of the case function. As the result of the research, quality evaluation of initial and improved models proved evidence of the effectiveness of having a defined system for process modelling. Reliability of quality improvement led to the settlement of the defined approach to process classification and methods of modelling to be adopted as a baseline for business management system where process-related documentation is created and stored. Finally, limitations and opportunities for the future research are presented to conclude the thesis work.

▼ In this thesis we have described the role of meetings in software development and their impact on process improvement. We have investigated some factors; which could be used to improve organization process e.g. strategic management, understanding of business and its processes, learning and evaluation of resources. A survey has been conducted with the help of a questionnaire to analyze the meeting practices in the small and medium scale software companies. A process model and a simulation have been designed to measure the impacts of meetings on the productivity of organizations which claim the utilization of agile process. The designed model is an extension of Hamid & Madnick’s process model and the simulation is a newly developed web based application that performs meeting scheduling. The application is developed with the concept of Software As A Service (SAAS) by using the Framework Symfony and programming languages PHP and MySQL.

▼ Agility and agile development have been studied prominently in academic literature in various fields. Applying agile development in business process management and seeing agile projects from business point of view and in traditional industries have remained with relatively low attention. This thesis researches how traditional industrial business should adapt to agile development. The objective of this thesis is to analyse current state of agile development in the Case Company and propose improvements via analysing current agile projects.
The research was conducted as a qualitative multiple case study. The data was gathered through semi-structured interviews by interviewing 7 managers or directors from 3 selected project cases taking place within the Case Company. Agile development projects are new to the Case Company and company's recent corporate digital strategy is emphasizing on the increase of agile development initiatives and capabilities within the company.
Based on the research, the biggest challenges for businesses to adapt agile development lies on project planning, business involvement development, and roll-out operations. Adopting agile methodology requires increasing tolerance of uncertainty and continuous effort from stakeholders. Project planning and resourcing need to be adjusted according to agile projects, where planning is continuous, and success is primarily measured via achieved system capabilities. Shift to new roles requires new capabilities from employees combining knowledge of business and technology. In addition to staying in traditional planning, too light project core groups and combined roles of product owner and project manager were found to have negative effects on project success.
Ensuring adequate business commitment throughout agile projects was found to be a major issue. Business commitment can be improved by allocating more resources to change and expectations management work early enough. Integrating projects better to business process management activities by considering to-be processes and organizations on early stages of the system development ensures better support and input from the business representatives for the project. This also helps in planning and execution of system deployment in roll-out phase. Roll-out of an agile system development project is likely to fail due to too much complexity or lack of proper planning. It is suggested that agile projects utilize traditional plan-driven practices for meeting crucial milestones. Hybrid strategy combining both agile and plan-driven project management methodologies and deeper analysis of roll-out activities in agile projects are suggested to be studied further.
Agile development proved to be highly applicable in system development projects by enabling innovative and customer-centric solutions. It offers great variety of tools and techniques that are recommended to be shared and utilized wider outside agile projects. Workflow management, customer centricity in development work, and systematic communication pattern…

Among the phases of the Business Process Management (BPM) lifecycle, the process diagnostics phase can facilitate the change in order to support future efforts to increase productivity,
standardize the execution of work and create a more efficient work routine. As a diagnostic technique, CRT (Current Reality Tree) is broader because it demonstrates the overall picture of the company\'s situation. The research question that intends to answer with this work is: how the diagnosis of the Current Reality Tree can promote improvements in a Clinical Research Unit (CRU)? The objective is to analyze the relationship between the application of CTR diagnosis and the improvements performed in a UPC. For that, a case study was used as a method in a UPC that used CRT as diagnostic tool for the implementation of organizational improvements. The results of this study present the diagnosis of CRT in a CRU and describe the improvements that occurred in the organization from the application of this technique. In addition, it is identified which BPM success factors contributed to the application of ARA. It is concluded that the use of ARA as a diagnostic technique, besides providing an
analysis that considers the real needs of the organization, can be related to the success of the implementation…

▼ ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Physical Asset Management (PAM) has become a vital part of asset intensive
organisations in recent years. The rise of standards associated with Asset Management (AM) and the competitive nature of large organisations has resulted in
a demand for performance improvements in terms of the value created by physical assets. This thesis addresses this need by calling on an interdisciplinary
approach to help improve the processes that support these physical assets within an organisation’s PAM strategy execution environment. Improvement
is facilitated by the use of Business Process Management (BPM) and Workflow Management (WfM) principles in conjunction with process mining. While
BPM and WfM provide the tools, process mining generates the metrics and models to be improved.
This thesis starts by examining the literature of PAM and how processes form part of the enablers that support execution functions of a PAM strategy. Linkage
between these enablers and physical assets creating value is then examined.
The review finds that there is a lack of structured and mathematical analysis involved with PAM processes as they are executed in the real world. This lack results from the inability to monitor exactly how work is being done in relation
to how it was planned. BPM and WfM are discussed to construct a theoretical basis on which process improvement can occur while process mining addresses
the lack of being able to monitor real world activity. This thesis continues to develop a methodology that aims to construct a framework by which process
mining can first be applied to a practical environment, followed by principles inherent in BPM and WfM. As BPM, WfM and process mining entail numerous
different analytical tools, the most applicable of these techniques are chosen for the PAM environment.
The developed methodology is applied to a case study where a maintenance process is investigated to determine the validity of the methodology. By applying
the process mining methodology, important performance attributes of PAM process are identified and highlighted. Ultimately, application of the methodology is deemed a viable option to incorporate within a PAM environment
to improve supporting processes. Future iterations based on this research can investigate improvements to this thesis and build on the results to improve PAM processes and incorporate on-going process mining within the PAM strategy.

▼ Purpose; this thesis is purposed to investigate Strategic Management Accounting and Control process in supporting Sustainable Integration between Strategic Supplier Relationship Management processes and Strategic Customer Relationship Management processes. Methodology; based on the purpose, the study has conducted a literature review of presenting theories to define Sustainable Integration, Strategic Management Accounting and Control process, Strategic Supplier Relationship Management process, and Strategic Customer Relationship Management process. Furthermore, the study defined how Sustainable Integration can be accomplished, which tools, techniques, and procedures are suited for supporting Sustainable Integration, and how controlling process supports the Sustainable phenomenon between business processes. The reasonable methods of conducting qualitative and exploratory studies have been employed to handle empirical gathering data by interviews with strategic business process managers in industrial Swedish Manufacturing cases. Then the data has been analyzed in a Within-case analysis and Cross-case synthesis following by interpretation and implications. Using the regressive method and advanced method, the study sent the manuscript to interviewees and went back from results to theory to add observed and found out knowledge to the theory. Findings; the study found out that Sustainable Integration is accomplished by supporting and controlling processes of harmonized and continuous flows of information, product, technology, and financial resources through strategic close inter-organizational relationship which are conducted by Strategic Management Accounting and Control process. Sustainable and competitive tools, techniques and procedures are employed to support the Sustainable Integration phenomenon between strategic sub-business processes in case of SSRM and SCRM processes. Various levels of Sustainable Integration regards the extent of harmonization and close long-term relationship are occurred based on openness, innovativeness, trust, commitment and transparency between industrial manufacturing Swedish companies. Developed and reconfigured Strategic Management Accounting and Control process supports Sustainable Integration by the aim of achieving Sustainable Competitive Advantages and Sustainable Sourcing.

Critical success factors in implementing process-oriented knowledge management systems (PKMS) in the public sector in Korea.

▼ Knowledge has been considered as a great asset for organizations, including in the public sector, to enhance competitiveness and to provide better quality public services. As a result, there has been a growing interest in treating knowledge as a significant organizational resource in the public sector. Consistent with the interest in organizational knowledge, many researchers have developed types of knowledge management systems (KMS) to support knowledge management (KM) activities. However, knowledge cannot be into integrated into an organization nor create desired outcomes if the knowledge is not working along with or through established business processes. Therefore, the concept of process-oriented knowledge management (PKM), combining KM and business process management (BPM), has emerged as a new idea and term in academia, industries, and organizations. Information systems (IS) that support PKM have been developed and called process-oriented knowledge management systems (PKMS). While there have been a number of studies that explored critical success factors (CSF) that affect IS, KM, and KMS, there are few studies about PKMS, in the public sector in particular. Therefore, the aim of this study is to empirically and theoretically assess CSFs that support or inhibit the successful implementation of PKMS using an example of a public organization in Korea. This study examined key CSFs affecting PKM system implementation. The study focused on determinants of system usage, perceived usefulness, and user satisfaction with an organization's PKM practices, comparing CSFs in a previously implemented KMS. System usage, including perceived usefulness and user satisfaction, was used as a measure of how well knowledge sharing and business processes are incorporated in organizations. Data collected from 199 employees at Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) confirmed 4 of 18 hypothesized relationships: one out of nine hypotheses in KMS, and three out of nine hypotheses in PKMS. Only one variable (customer's voice) was positively associated with the success of KMS, whereas three variables (high managerial level support, knowledge sharing culture, and customer's voice) were positively related with the success of PKMS. In summary, different elements affect the success of KMS and PKMS differently, and so differential approaches should be applied in implementing PKMS. The empirical findings are assessed in the broader theoretical context of the IS and KM success literature, which are derived from DeLone and McLean's IS Success Model and technology acceptance model (TAM).

Within several Swedish government agencies, the process-based approach has become a method for increasing efficiency within the organizations. The Swedish Migration Agency, an agency that received a record number of refugee applicants during the great refugee crisis in the mid-2010s, has recently begun to implement a new process-based approach in the asylum field called "Asyl 360". This case study examines how the employees at one of the units that implemented Asylum 360 feels that the new process-based working method has affected them. It also intends to investigate what process maturity level the investigated asylum review unit is at, with the help of a self-developed, context-adapted process maturity model. The methodological focus of the study is a qualitative case study where the collected data has been collected through interviews with employees of the researched organization. The result and analysis of the study shows what level of process maturity the studied organization is currently on. It also evaluates the functionality of the self-developed, context-adapted process maturity model

▼ This research is conducted to formulate a framework for project risk management by evaluating the current understanding and practices. It examines the risk management processes provided by the various standards, frameworks and guidelines available globally. The research argues that the existence of varying risk management standards, frameworks and guidelines is not an assurance that organisations will adopt their principles and processes. Furthermore, these documents do not provide sufficient information concerning the understanding of the concept of risk and uncertainty and their management. To accomplish this goal, it became necessary for the research to reach an understanding about the concepts and fundamental issues of risk and uncertainty management. This research also sought to know how organisations in different industries manage risks and uncertainties for their projects. This research was confined to the study of the understanding and practices of PRM by established or influential organisations in aerospace and aviation, oil, gas and petrochemical, power, telecommunication as well as construction industries with matching criteria. Semi-structured interviews were conducted using an ‘aide-memoire’ with managers involved in the management of project risks to document the current practices of risk management. Thematic analyses were used to compress and summarise the large amount of data into internally consistent understandings of risk and uncertainty. Based on the results, the research proposes a structure that explains the current understanding of the concepts of risk and uncertainty as well as an outline process framework for conducting risk management for industry use. Practically, risk and uncertainty are found to be interrelated whereby and they happen as an outcome of each other’s occurrence. The proposed framework consists of six major steps which incorporated the purposes and activities within, providing a better understanding of how risk can be managed. This research contributes theoretically, methodologically and practically to project risk management body of knowledge.

▼ Many internal actors are involved in the execution of infrastructure projects at network operators. These actors share an organizational goal but also have individual interests that can be conflicting with each other. Intra-organizational conflicting interests are difficult to manage because among others the complexity of the network and projects, organizational segmentation and complex procedures. There are three station projects at the Dutch rail operator ProRail, one project at Schiphol and one project at Rijkswaterstaat analysed to research how they deal with intra-organizational conflict and what makes its management difficult. Improvements for managing intra- organizational conflict at ProRail can among others be made by changing the project team structure, transferring the project teams to asset management and by making process agreements in the beginning of the conflict. The recommendations made in this research need to be worked out in detail because they will have other effects on the organizational performance as well.

▼ The Dutch railway system is the most intensively used in Europe. This fact, although fascinating, it creates complexity and many interfaces in its operation. The performance of such a system is governed by many aspects and involves many parties. Furthermore, these aspects and parties will have different needs and perceive performance in a different way. In order for the system to operate as smooth as possible, performance agreements are being made in different organizational levels. These agreements guide ProRail on how to manage the railway system and what it should achieve regarding several performance aspects. However, the railway system, as well as ProRail, are not single entities. They are comprised of several organizational levels. Each of these levels has its own needs and peculiarities, which in theory should be represented by their prescribed performance requirements. This creates a coupling between the performance agreements. They should be suitable for each organizational level while at the same time connected. These interrelationships can provide an overview of how the system performs and where adjustments should be made. Nevertheless, if their coupling is too strong, the organization can become cumbersome and stagnate. On the other hand, if their coupling is too relaxed, there will be no guidance and connection to what ProRail wants to achieve regarding the performance of the system. This thesis would like to examine the interrelationships between three performance agreements of ProRail. The Management Concession, Plan and its Performance Management System. The examination is focused on how well these agreements are coupled regarding different performance areas. Its proposed advice is a framework which can potentially alleviate the weaknesses described above. Its purpose is to strengthen the coupling of performance agreements while at the same time, leave enough room for adjustments and innovation. Moreover, the structure of the framework intends to minimize shielding behaviours by providing a process-based approach in the communication of performance requirements. In order to achieve its goal, the thesis formulates one Main Research Question with three Sub Research Question to help build its line of reasoning. The following list presents these questions to the reader.
