使用済み核燃料中の核分裂生成物(FP)の放射能低減、及び、資源化を念頭に置き、原子炉を用いたFPの元素変換特性を計算評価した。また、得られた核変換生成物の放射化学的評価や、変換後の元素の分離技術の検討も併せておこなった。核変換率は、原子核の中性子捕獲断面積と中性子束の積によって表される核反応率と、崩壊定数によって記述される。この核変換の理論に基づき、JAEAが開発したORLIBJ40を用いて全FPの元素変換率を求めた。軽水炉・高速炉を問わず原子番号が奇数の元素は高い変換率が得られ、偶数の元素は低い変換率となった。さらに、魔法数である50及び82の中性子を持つ元素の変換率は他の元素よりも低くなった。核変換による放射能の低減化としては、I、Tc、Seについて有意な結果が得られ、従来の分離変換研究の妥当性を裏付けた。これらの長寿命核種を自然崩壊よりも短時間で消滅させることは、FPの廃棄処分に伴う長期的リスクの低減につながる。資源化の観点からは、核変換による放射能の変化に加え、市場価格や供給リスクを踏まえて、白金族やレアアースを中心とする9元素を解析対象として選定し、元素生成率や放射能濃度の時間変化などから、元素変換戦略を評価した。また、元素変換に必要不可欠である分離技術開発の一案として、クラウンエーテル樹脂によるBaとLaの分離実験をおこない、有意な分離係数を得た。

本研究では高齢者における一日の体内水分量変位モデルを構築し,適切なタイミングでトイレや飲水を提案する手法について検討し,高齢者の外出をサポートする水分管理補助システムを提案する.このシステムはユーザの外出の予定に応じて予め計算した飲水やトイレ休憩のタイミングを計算し,外出中の水分摂取やトイレ,気温の変化などの状況変化(コンテキスト)に応じて動的に変更する.更にユーザの買い物や観劇など外出の主たる目的の妨げにならないよう,そういった予定を避けるよう考慮することや予告的な通知を事前に発する段階的な通知方法を用いている.本論文では医学,生理学,介護の知見を元にシステムの根幹となる体内水分量モデルを構築し,モデルを用いた体内水分量予測式の妥当性を評価し,システムに適した通知方法を検討し,最終的に構築したシステムの有効性を評価する.
