[pt] Diante das intervenções humanas relacionadas aos barramentos de rios para inúmeros fins (controle hídrico, produção de energia, entre outras) verifica-se os riscos associados às populações que vivem a jusante destas áreas. O entendimento das possíveis consequências ambientais deste tipo de ocorrência promove a emergência de se avaliar as áreas impactadas, permitindo-se desta maneira a promoção de ações (estruturais ou estruturantes) que visem minimizar o efeito no caso de acidentes. Este estudo visa avaliar e correlacionar os impactos associados às inundações provenientes das rupturas dos barramentos de rios através de um estudo de caso (Reservatório de Santa Branca/SP) a partir de dados obtidos por modelagem hidrológica e de técnicas de geoprocessamento. Como resultado, torna-se possível avaliar não apenas as áreas impactadas pelo rompimento do barramento estudado, mas também avaliar as áreas que apresentariam maiores velocidades (acarretando riscos materiais à população) e também verificar as porções territoriais mais passíveis de sofrerem algum tipo de intervenção pública. As variáveis estudadas, com o intuito de minimizar os impactos, foram: arborização, pavimentação e boca de lobo. Estas, foram comparadas par a par através do método de tomada de decisões AHP, e concluiu-se que a variável que mais ajuda a minimizar o impacto é a arborização. Devido a modelagem hidrológica foi possível encontrar uma vazão de pico de 77.8855,045 metros cúbicos/s para um tempo de ruptura de 2,5h e verificar que a mancha de inundação abrange as seguintes cidades a jusante da barragem: Santa Branca, Guararema e Jacareí, atingindo o total aproximado de 32.590 habitantes.

[en] Floods have always been a major hydrological issue. Its susceptibility is caused by many factors, such as soil sealing, deforestation, disordered densification, climatic variations, among others. Currently Floods have been occurring on a large scale around the world, Brazil included, bringing high social and economic damage to the affected cities. Even with a low probability of ocurring, its devastating effects has ignited the interest of public agenciesresponsible for security and civil protection to study and plan solutions to mitigate its effects. Knowing how to cope with floods by mitigating their adverse impacts is a measure that should be adopted by civil society and public agencies through interlinked urban and environmental planning.
