Abstract: The necessity of crude water and sewer flow discharge measuring is an actual preoccupation because the market is not yet properly adapted for this function. In Brazil most of flow meters and measuring techniques used are specified to be used with fresh water, instead of crude water withdrawals. The objective of this thesis is the supplying of a crude water measuring option with low costs and great accuracy. Studies in laboratory and field were done to test the solution employing hour-counter in pumps, associated with an ultra-sound flow meter gauged through the pumped pipes. The results, in systems without filters in line, showed an accuracy of ±3,9%. Abstract: The electric energy supply and the water availability are two of the most important parameters to develop appropriately one given state region. Therefore, it' s convenient that an Hydroelectric Power Plant considers the use of water for other goals besides generating electric energy. The crescent increasing in the water users number (agriculture, industry, energy and urban supply) is competing for hydro source, resulting some troublesome conflicts. A possible solution for these conflicts is an integrated and shared use, controlling and saving hydro sources. This use must be carried out, on both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary way. There is no longer the concept of water usage based exclusively on irrigation analyses, energy generation or sanitation. These conflicts are becoming bigger and bigger, on both national and international aspects. This work presents the results of the simulation study of the Alqueva multi-purpose reservoir system, with the aim to fix both guaranty and satisfaction levels for several water uses as well as to establish the operating rules for different priorities.The main target of this simulation is to analyze the reliability, resilience, and vulnerability levels of different water uses. The simulated system includes the Guadiana and Ardila rivers, and the reservoirs of Alqueva and Pedrogão. Two scenarios for inflow and several hypothesis for water uses has been considered. The IRAS - Interactive River-Aquifer Simulation model is presented.
