1. Fernandes, Simone Cecília, 1978-. A educação esportiva de meninas na escola pública : experiências positivas de gênero na educação física: The sports education of girls in public schools : positive de gênero na educação física.

Degree: 2016, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

Abstract: This thesis is within the field of gender studies and analyzes the sports education of girls in public schools from eight teachers narrativies of the school system in Campinas, a city in São Paulo State, Brazil, teachers who teach team sports to girls in their classes. The field research was conducted through semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the interviews were qualitative, seeking to weave threads of meanings between the teacher¿s talks and investigate "what is at stake" when they teach team sports to girls. In this way of teaching, teacher¿s experiences involved fighting the patriarchal gender relations that tend to alienate girls of good doings in sports at school. The teacher¿s actions broke with a gender hegemonic logic in classes, both with regard to the equitable the use of space and time in physical education and in respect to the content taught and the teaching of physicality related to sports practices to girls. The girl's bodies became skilled in sports and in sports education, that allowed them to access different possibilities to experiences in the school context, which are distinguished from an emphasized femininity, providing opportunities for other sociabilities and bodily experiences to them. In these tessitura, the differences demonstrated in sports court between boys and girls were located from distinct sports experiences that students were exposed in and out of school. Teachers narrated that the differences in terms of knowledge and doings on the bodies of boys and girls who play sports were not the effect of a different physical nature, but a result of many different body experiences which they were subjected in their lives. By teaching sports to girls, teachers faced daily hierarchical situations, which operate on the stigmatization of some boys and on abashing notions of girls¿ sports practices at school. These teaching practices provoked disruptions whith incidents that used to produce hierarchical situations in their lives. Despite the adversities that permeate the teaching of collective sports to girls, teachers taught sports to the them and faced, in their everyday school life, difficulties and challenges that don¿t moved them away from the first desire, latent, teach everyone Advisors/Committee Members: UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS (CRUESP), Altmann, Helena, 1973- (advisor), Universidade Estadual de Campinas. 2. Monteiro, Mariana Kubilius, 1985-. Gênero e gestão da educação infantil : trajetórias e experiências de homens e mulheres que trabalham como diretores(as) educacionais: Gender and early childhood education management : trajectories and experiences of men and women who work as school principals.

Degree: 2019, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

Abstract: This thesis presents gender and management of early childhood education, with the intention of analyzing how gender crosses the professional trajectories and experiences of female and male principals of early childhood education public institutions at Campinas/SP after being approved in a public contest. The research was developed from semi-structured interviews achieved with fifteen school principals, seven men and eight women. Before the first interviews, there were also performed exploratory observations in six early childhood education institutions, during which other people were heard. Besides these sources, quantitative data were provided by the municipal secretary of education with the goal of mapping the profile of education specialists that work in different positions in education management. A gender hierarchy in the teaching career was perceived, with a higher percentage of men in the supervision and school management than in early childhood teaching. The public contest to get into the public workforce seems to promote equal opportunities for men and women, although it does not have this specific objective. Differences between trajectories of men and women could be observed, as the age they enter the labor market, reconciliation of paid and unpaid work and incentives to get promoted in the career. The main part of the interviewed was not an early childhood education teacher before, entering in this occupation area only as school principal. The principals¿ experiences were marked by approaches and distances. In contrast to the severity and distance that their childhood brought, the directors built a closer position. However, due to factors like working condition, training and gender, distances from the pedagogical face of management, daily life and children were established. To the authority relationship construction, there was observed the need of a confidence relationship constitution as well as a charging of more austerity directed to the principals. On the other hand, paternalism, adultcentrism and chauvinist were presented in the narratives about the relationship with the early childhood education professionals, in a perspective of professional devaluation. Contributing to the research about the management of early childhood education, it could be perceived specific difficulties, like universalization of early childhood education access, lack of staff and the overload work ¿ and its implications to teacher¿s training and appreciation ¿, the concept of undissociated educare under construction and the early childhood education as a female work. Besides that, it could be observed the potency of experience in early childhood management to work into other education stages Advisors/Committee Members: UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS (CRUESP), Altmann, Helena, 1973- (advisor), Universidade Estadual de Campinas.
