Abstract: Although technological objects are increasingly used in our society, aspects related to their operations are rarely addressed in school physics and in the physics teacher training. We aim to understand how future physics teacher produce meanings from a teaching unit that addresses aspects of radiography, computed tomography, positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance, as well as how it is situated in their representations the possibility of working this theme in high school. We take as theoretical and methodological support notions of Discourse Analysis initiated by Michel Pêcheux. We also consider as contributions the so-called critical teacher training models and some studies that have considered issues associated with the teaching of radiations from the perspective of their relations with medicine/health. We built a teaching unit and worked it during eleven 150-minute classes in a compulsory discipline of an undergraduate physics course from a Brazilian federal public institution. The information collection had the collaboration of seven future physics teachers and was done through written questionnaires and the audio recording of the classes. For the first research question: how did the future teachers produce meanings related to the pedagogical work with the teaching unit?, the analysis of the information collected produced indications that the unit was the main condition of production/change/reformulation of the future teachers¿ representations with regard to the subjects worked, acting in favor of that such representations started to incorporate meanings in agreement with those coming from discursive formations associated with the scientific knowledge. For the second research question: what indications of relations between the production conditions of pedagogical work with the teaching unit and the future teachers¿ representations on the possibility of approaching the operation of medical imaging exams in the high school can be inferred?, the analysis provided indications that allowed us to conclude that after the pedagogical work with the unity, meanings that point to the relevance of addressing aspects associated with the medical imaging exams in high school physics were incorporated into the future teachers¿ representations. As for the third question: what indications of relations between the production conditions of pedagogical work with the teaching unit and the future teachers¿ representations on the role of the physics teacher can be inferred?, we obtained indications to conclude that due to the inherent characteristics of the imaging exams and the form/content of the teaching unit that was applied, the future teachers¿ representations incorporated and/or consolidated meanings that point to the relevance of the social role of the teacher as a promoter of reflection and questioning. Abstract: Researches in physics teaching have adopted several perspectives about the insertion of Modern and Contemporary Physics (MCP) topics at High School (HS). Within this current discussion about how to treat the insertion of these topics and also which would be the relevant themes to this level of teaching, our goal performing this investigation is to contribute to the studies that aim to insert MCP at HS giving an emphasis to the physics as a cultural output. Then, we consider physics as a kind of knowledge that integrates human culture in addition to its own production also be associated with this culture. For this, we considered some notions involved in the beginning of the developments of the old quantum theory at the turn of the twentieth century. We start of knowledge at the boundaries of two classical fields, the electromagnetism and the thermodynamics. In association with this goal, we want to analyze: 1) how is the meaning production of the students about physics contents after reading texts concerning to notions involved in the beginning of the developments of the old quantum theory; 2) what contributions the mediations of researcher/teacher and of their colleagues provided for the meaning production of the students; 3) how the boundary problems, and the classical concepts possibly resumed, have had presence in the students' interpretations. Therefore, we based in the development and application of mediated activities by the researcher/teacher involving the reading of scientists' original texts of that period and also scientific dissemination texts written by scientists. Both kinds of texts don't prioritize the mathematical language. The collection of the information took place in the last grade classes of a public school and had been accomplished by written responses to questions to the students, and also audio recordings of the mediated discussions. We use the Discourse Analysis, initiated in France by Michel Pêcheux, as theoretical and methodological support. The main results indicate that: epistemological discussions that cross the texts were determinants for the students' interpretations. The focus that the students gave in certain passages contributed for producing specific interpretations about the subjects, even when mistaken meanings were evident from the point of view of the discursive formation of physics; the mediation between students in double, followed by the appreciation by the researcher/teacher, played a role of promoting the possibility of showing their doubts after the readings. Also, a deepening of the meanings by some of them occurred in the discussions with the whole class.
