The main purpose of this research is to design a thermal energy conversion device, which is aimed to collect unused heat produced by nature. In order to achieve high-efficiency conversion, some novel devices will be studied to convert heat energy into mechanical power. A simple heat exchanger as well as heat engine device is proposed in this study. Dichloromethane is used as an important factor due to its physical properties. Finally, the concept of a tubular linear generator will be adopted to generate electric power. The feature of the proposed simple thermal energy conversion device is that we can use unused heat sources as input, such as solar energy and waste heat from car engines. 2. Chen, Li-chong. Effect of Bolts Assembly on the Deformation and Pressure Distribution of Flow-Channel Plates in Micro-PEMFC.

In general, a PEMFC was assembled by using a number of locked bolts. But this assembly will cause concentrated loads existed on the upper and lower portions of the end plates, so that the pressure distributed non-uniformly at the internal structures in the PEMFC and thus causing uneven distributed deformations of flow-channel plates. This phenomenon may lead to the leak of reaction gas, and causing not only the decrease of the efficiency of PEMFC, but also the increase of the dangerous. If the fuel cell size getting smaller, the influence may be more severely. The main aim of this study is to simulate the response of a micro-PEMFC numerically by utilizing a 3-D FEM model while the micro-PEMFC was assembled by three pairs of bolts along the upper and lower portions, respectively, of the end plates. The effects of different bolts locking sequences on the deformation and pressure distributions at flow-channel plates and on the porosity of gas diffusion layers in the micro-PEMFC were investigated. The simulated results showed that if one locked the middle bolt either on the upper or lower portion first, then the obtained uniformities of warpage, deformation, von Mises stress and porosity were superior than the corresponding obtained results if one locked either one of the four corner bolts first. Also, among the three pairs of bolts used for assembling the cell, the first locking bolt of the first pair of locking bolts and the first locking bolt of the rest of two pairs of locking bolts were suggested on the reverse portions of the end plates. 3. Su, Fang-I. Effects of Thickness on the Thermal Expansion Coefficient of ITO/PET Film.

In this studing, application of the digital image correlation method (DIC) for determining the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of Indium Tin Oxide/Polyethylene Terephthalate(ITO/PET) thin film/flexible substrate was proposed and the effects of thinkness variations of ITO and PET, respectively, on the CTE of the specimens was disscussed. The observation range of experimental temperature was chosen from room temperature to the glass transfer temperature of PET, 70รข. A novel DIC experimental process for reducing the errors caused from the variations of the refractive index of the surrounding heated air was proposed. As a result, the experimental error of CTE measurement was reduced form 10~17% to less than 5%. The experimental results showed that the CTE of ITO/PET specimen is anisotropic. Futhermore, the CTE of an ITO/PET specimen will be increased by decreasing the thinkness of PET flexible substrate, and increased by increasing the thinkness of ITO film - which means decreasing the surface resistance of ITO film.
